Wilderlands - Western Plains Map

4434 BCCC

The former holy citadel of Mitra's Shield Hall is in hex 0929 (the white dot).  The Tharbrian towns Hlymdale and Landmarch are under Red Reaver control, as are the Grimalon Plains to the south beyond Buskin Wood.  The leaders of the Red Reaver marauders are a party of high-level adventurers who have now staked out an extensive domain across the southern Tharbrian plains.  They are rumoured to enjoy support from of the God-Emperor of Viridistan to the west, which has prevented the Invincible Overlord from taking direct action against them.

According to rumour, King Hakaman of Bondmaid (1429) is a goodly knight and Paladin, of Tharbo-Skand (mixed Skandik & Tharbrian) ancestry, and dedicated enemy of the Red Reavers.  Last year a Red Reaver mage, Oliver of Horn, kidnapped his daughter Princess Sylvia on the eve of her wedding to a southern prince - thankfully the princess was rescued by adventurers before she could come to much harm.

CSIO Area Map

The City State of the Invincible Overlord (2623) is the second greatest city of the Wilderlands, behind only Viridistan in the far West. A city of 80,000 souls, the CSIO suffered in the Gnoll Times some 250 years ago, but has now recovered and is looking to expand her influence at the expense of the Falling Empire of Viridistan, seen as a decadent and declining power by the leaders of the CSIO.
The CSIO firmly controls the territory east of the Cloudwall Mountains/Howling Hills to the north, with the Twilight Road/Old South road the central axis of domination.  On the Tharbrian plains west of the mountains, the CSIO has primarily influence rather than full control; ranging from actual City State governors (Bulwark) to allied petty kings (Bondmaid), small, scattered garrison forces (Redcliffe) and military 'advisors'.
