6:44pm 2015-12-06 Kjato Ragfoot Has entered the room
Smon: Hi Kjato
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello Simon
6:51pm 2015-12-06 chris107 Has entered the room
chris107: Hiya Simon, Kjato
Smon: Hi chris
chris107: A nice surprise to see the game back on
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello chris
Smon: I was at my RPG Meetup today but it was just a short 2.5 hr session to create PCs so I reckon I have energy to GM a couple hours too.
chris107:
Smon: It's a 5e D&D game, guess what character class I decided from extensive observation would be really cool to play...
Kjato Ragfoot: I will only be able to play about 2 hours today. Need to be up very early tomorrow morning.
Kjato Ragfoot: Barbarian-Warlock?
Smon: Rogues & Clerics are nice, but I'm looking forward to wreaking some Barbarian havoc.
chris107: Rogue?
chris107:
Smon: It's a 'Primeval Thule' game, very Conan/Kull sort of vibe.
chris107: Nice.
Smon: Two of my favourite girl players are in the group too, which is always nice.
chris107: Sounds like D&D is alive and living in London.
Kjato Ragfoot: I have to many D&D5 groups at the moment, I am no longer sure what class to play next.
Smon: Yeah, the London D&D Meetup is huge now.
Smon: I just have an occasional Fighter & now this Barbarian.
chris107: I still have to take a erious look at the other classes.
Smon: I thought Fighter was the best until I saw Hakeem.
Smon: Actually my other PC is a Paladin! d'oh!
Smon: It's ok, but I like Fighter Barbarian & Rogue better.
chris107: Hakeem is fine I think. However even Oriax' apprentice proved how vulnerable to magic he is.
Kjato Ragfoot: That is why you have clerics around that case protection spells.
chris107: Or if someone gets the jump and does huge damage before he can rage.
Smon: Yeah, the only Barbarians who can stand up to it are Bear Totem, they get resistance to anything (except psychic)
chris107: Yay for Clerics
Smon: Hakeem was totally outgunned by 20-30 orcs and a 9th level wizard!
chris107: The Totem warriors are very cool.
Smon: You were what, 5th level?!
chris107: Yeah I guess it is a long time ago
Smon: My Barbarian will be an Elk Totem warrior with Polearm Master feat.
chris107: I don't evenb know what that does?
Smon: Apparently his halberd shaft is made from elk antlers!
Kjato Ragfoot: I play an Eldritch Knight in another group, I am looking forward to casting spells.
chris107: An Elven Eldritch Knight would be ace
Smon: Totems inc Elk here - https://merovia.obsidianportal.com/wiki_pages/path-of-the-totem-warrior
chris107: Halberd?! Eek. What damage does that do?
Kjato Ragfoot: Tiefling Eldritch Knight. Who always confuses the group due to having spent to much time with his great.great-great-grand-uncle.,
Smon: d10, reach 10'. With the feat I get a free opportunity attack vs anyone entering my threat range...
Smon: I call the halberd a long axe.
chris107: Wow. There is such a lot I need to learn about 5e.
chris107: Let's hope that Athena's blessings are with us and we survive to learn
Smon:
Kjato Ragfoot: I would need to learn to be less wise and somber.
chris107: You keep us alive Kjato.
Kjato Ragfoot: I am not sure Athena is the right teacher for that. Perhaps I should try Bacchus.
Kjato Ragfoot: I do my best.
chris107: Hakeem would be wandering off into every dragon's lair without Thur!
Smon: There's another feat Sentinel where if you hit someone with an opp attack they can't move until next turn. Put that together with 10' reach weapon & opp att vs anyone coming into reach... heh heh heh...
chris107: Cleric of Bacchus!
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. It would be interesting to see how he gets shooed out a dragon's cave by a female dragon for spying on her in an inappropriate moment.
Kjato Ragfoot: And then Rey smoothing things up.
Smon: Just chilling to https://youtu.be/MXSDPoWeXIg
chris107: Yeah, chatting up Stone Giant lay-dees was going some!
Smon: >>Feani speaks briefly to the gate guard, and you are permitted entry to the narrow street beyond. Smon: Feani points to an open structure where blue and yellow lights glimmer amidst the trees. "There is the Temple of Cilborith..." she points to the largest structure, further ahead: "And there the palace of Queen Cildarith." chris107: H is impressed. Smon: Feani smiles to see Rey & Hakeem impressed by the city. "Legend says Cilborith himself commanded its founding, aeons ago before the rise of Men..." Smon: "...There was a great war that ravaged the world. The Pious warred with the Philosophers for mastery. Terrible war engines smote cities low. Cilborith feared lest his people perish... So he commanded a Refuge." Amalric: Rey smiles and nods, looking impressed. Later he will say quietly to Alicia, "Its all mumbo jumbo to me..." chris107: "I should like to spend time here with my wife and child. At least in happier times." Kjato Ragfoot: (That must be the war in which those demon eggs were employed) Smon: (OOC well spotted) chris107: (I, could well be) Smon: Feani: "Do you wish to seek audience with the Queen, or the Temple? Or there - the Smithy of Aenor, greatest smith in the World..." chris107: gosh chris107: H would like to see the great smith Kjato Ragfoot: We should probably do pay them all a visit. Smon: Feani smiles: "They may have the better smiths... But we have the better scouts."<<
Kjato Ragfoot: (I am somehow convinced Feani's dump score is Wisdom)
Smon: Anatal - http://i.imgur.com/WtDI638.jpg
Kjato Ragfoot: Nice place.
chris107: (The guy on that album cover looks like a great fighter, plate and maul )
Smon: (Well, Amdor seems to have successfully Charmed her - possibly a Will save penalty?)
chris107: Ah yes I saw the pic of Anatal on the blog. H likes been among the elves.
chris107: Though his natural xenophobic streak is propbably too wide.
Smon: GM: You can hear the sound of steel on steel ring out from the Forge of Aeanor.
chris107: H would like to se Aenor before we leave.
Kjato Ragfoot: Luckily, Thuruar only suffers from stultusphobie.
chris107: (I will have to google that Kjato!)
Smon: Feani: "I should report to the Royal Court - the Queen will wish to hear news from east of the mountains, and the trouble we had with the stone giants."
Kjato Ragfoot: (afraid of stupid people)
chris107: (Poor Hakeem )
Kjato Ragfoot: We should probably all go and pay the queen our respects?
chris107: Yes. H looks longingly at the smithy. But he's been at this game long enough now to know better.
Smon: GM: Feani leads you through the small city. Passing the Temple you hear the elvensong calling out, then you reach the palace and are ushered in, apparently already expected.
chris107: "Canny folks these elves..."
Smon: White-cloaked Elvenguard usher you into a small but ornately furnished courtroom, the darkwood pillars enwrapped with delicate golden leaves.
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, we did make rather some fanfare on our way.
Smon: At the far end the young Queen of Anatal sits upon her throne in a pool of golden light.
Smon: She beckons you forward. "Welcome."
Smon: Queen Cildarith - http://data.hdwallpapers.im/elf_queen.jpg
Smon: Feani curtsies.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar bows.
chris107: H bows
chris107: "My lady."
Smon: In the shadows to either side, several elven courtiers watch your approach.
Smon: Cildarith smiles.
chris107: H is a bit out of his depth here.
Smon: The others also bow. Cildarith: "Welcome back, Feani. Who are our human guests?"
Smon: Feani: "Your Majesty. They are on a Quest of great Import..." she looks to you to explain.
Kjato Ragfoot: Your Majesty.
Kjato Ragfoot: We are on a quest to defeat the Black Sun and broker peace between Altani and Nerathi.
chris107: (We are? )
Kjato Ragfoot: (Yes. So that Thuruar can forge the Neo-Altanerathi Empire)
Smon:
chris107: (Ah. H just didn't recognize the peace bit)
chris107: Back to you Kjato before Hakeem makes an arse of things.
chris107: (again )
Smon: Feani: "Prince Cuchulainn of Onhir sends greetings your Majesty, and hopes you are well."
Kjato Ragfoot: We hope for your graces goodwill as we pass through your realm towards the Black Suns land.
Smon: Cildarith nods. "Certainly. Human affairs rarely concern us, but troubling news has reached us from the West... of the Neo-Nerath and their use of Necromancy."
chris107: (H so wants to spit!)
chris107: (but contains himself)
Kjato Ragfoot: Troubling indeed, it seems their massive use of necromancy upset the balance between life and death, causing undeads to raise in unusual numbers.
Smon: Cildarith nods: "The Ghosts of Men often sleep uneasy... You are welcome to our hospitality. The maids will escort you to the baths. Feani, we should talk again later."
chris107: I wonder if they know aught of Morthor Coff?
Smon: Cildarith waves a hand, the guards escort you out of the courtroom again. Amdor looks a bit distracted: "A bath? What? Excellent!"
Smon: Feani whispers to Thuruar: "I fear the Queen finds the sweat of the journey on your group a little... offensive."
chris107: H shrugs.
chris107: He had a bath last month.
Kjato Ragfoot: We thank for the hospitality and gladly accept your offer,
Smon: Alicia shrugs: "Well a bath sounds good to me, eh Rey?"
Kjato Ragfoot: QUietly to Hakeem: It is a great honour to be invited to an elven bath. Just go along and enjoy yourself.
chris107: Ah! Very well then he says sulkily. He thought with Malenn been left at home he wouldn't be subject to soap again for some time
Smon: Two elven maidservants escort you to a steaming white-marbled bathing pool, help you undress. Amdor eagerly sploshes into the mineral-salted water. "Excellent!"
Smon:
Smon: Alicia also settles in, relaxes. "Mmm... almost like being home again."
chris107: H wades in happily once the shock of clenliness has passed.
Smon: Feani also strips and joins the humans in the pool. As you relax you see the Elf maids collecting your clothing and equipment.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar happily goes into taking a bath, smiling absent-mindedly.
Smon: Are you going to let them take everything?
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes.
Kjato Ragfoot: There is nothing unreplacable in my belongings.
chris107: "Beware Bloodletter ladies. He bites! Best leave him there."
Smon: The maids look dubiously at the sinister blade. "You will have no need for weapons here, sir."
chris107: "It is not for my saftey that I warn you."
chris107: "Just take care when you handle the blade."
Smon: One of the maids looks at the blade then grasps the hilt, lifting it. She wraps the blade with a white cloth.
chris107:
Smon: Two more maids enter to help collect your armour etc. "We will have your gear cleaned and readied for your departure." Then they leave the bath hall.
Smon: Alicia: "Mmm. well... you still have your Mage Armour, Rey."
Smon: Laara is still looking around in wonder at her second elven city.
chris107: "We have much to learn of the world it would seem Laara?"
Kjato Ragfoot: (We should get Laara a city tour)
Smon: Laara nods. "I had no idea there were such places..." Some time later the maids return with white elven robes for you all.
Kjato Ragfoot: Indeed, the world is far bigger and holds much more wonders than one could expect back in the Altanian lands.
chris107: H decided he will bring Malenn and the little one to see these wonders. Once he has killed the last of the Nerathi and Oriax.
Kjato Ragfoot: What did I say about killing Nerathi?
chris107: "Oh sorry Thur. Just thinking outloud..."
Smon:
Smon: brb dinner
chris107: Maybe when Thur unites the good Nerathi (rangers 'n stuff) with Altania, we could go fight the Red Reavers and maybe conquer a City State?
chris107: Malenn would like that
Kjato Ragfoot: That sounds like a good suggestion.
chris107: See? Hakeem can have good ideas...some times.
Smon: (Pity Kaag's not here, he'd love Hakeem's ideas!) After drying and dressing you, the elf maids escort you to the queen's dining hall. You are placed close to the queen's empty seat. Everyone then stands as the queen enters, sits when she does.
chris107: that's fine with H
Kjato Ragfoot: Of course. Following etiquette is good.
Smon: The meal begins, the mood is subdued. Feani whispers to Thuruar: "They are sad that Valadai is missing."
Smon: Amdor the Mighty attempts to engage the Queen with the story of his Epic Quest...
chris107: (That's the princess?)
Smon: Cha check
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 15,
chris107: Amdor is a bit of a charmer on the side
Smon: The Queen listens attentively to Amdor.
Smon: (bit of the old Rey magic seems to have rubbed off on him)
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar answers Feani as whispering: Perhaps it would lift their mood if we told her about the Communion with Athena and that the princess is most likey still alive?
Smon: Feani nods.
chris107: H is still happy to rescue the princess (if we knew where/what from).
Smon: GM: The local elven priestess Cerdai is among the diners, as is Aeanor the Smith; seated to the Queen's left.
Kjato Ragfoot: Your grace, we communed with Athena on our quest yesterday. During this time, we learnt that princess Valadai is still alive and not in the hands of the Nerathi or their allies.
Smon: Amdor: "Long have we travelled, many dangers have we seen... the great Dragon Turtle of Yore! The Chimerae of the Clashing Plains!"
chris107: If opportunity arises H will chat to Aeanor regarding swords
chris107: (Amdor wasn't with us when we slew the Dragon Turtle. Cheeky begger! )
Kjato Ragfoot: He was with us.
Kjato Ragfoot: It was on the way from the Sandway to the Temple of Athena.
Smon: (Yep - he was belowdecks AIR) Cildarith's eyes widen at Thuruar's words. "Alive?!"
chris107: (Ah was it after Lichway? Memories not what it was.)
Kjato Ragfoot: If Athena's wisdom is to be trusted, yes.
Kjato Ragfoot: She is alive, and neither in the caves of Matama or the hands of the Nerathi.
Smon: The Queen turns to her priestess: "Is this possible?" Priestess Cerdai: "Your majesty, only the greatest of High Priests can Commune directly with their Deity. I..."
Smon: Queen Cildarith turns back to Thuruar: "Then your powers are great, indeed."
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: Athena graced her servant with her wisdom, as she saw befit.
Smon: Cildarith: "I see... Can you commune with your goddess again? Gain further wisdom?"
Kjato Ragfoot: I can try to, but that takes time. I would need to meditate in your temple for at least one night.
Smon: Cildarith nods. "Cerdai? Will you aid the High Priest?"
Smon: Cerdai looks slightly annoyed, but nods. "Yes, majesty. Of course."
Kjato Ragfoot: Also, do not expect clear answers. I am allowed to ask but three questions that can be answered affirmitivels or dismissevly.
Smon: Cildarith nods: "Of course. Anything you can tell us... any leads."
Smon: The meal continues, Hakeem has a chance to ask Aeanor about swords.
Smon: Aeanor - http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRdTplh_HIRFHABbUxFT5y4pGoSe4Ygr-dhrGhiG2jYKEXqOJ1uTA
chris107: He describes Bloodletter and asks the mighty smith if he has any knowlege of the weapon?
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 10,
Kjato Ragfoot: (Could you also ask him where to find a magical shortsword or rapier?)
chris107: (I sure can )
Smon: Aeanor nods: "The name is familiar... An Altanian blade, forged centuries ago, far to the south. It was wielded by... Kiris Wolfshelm, I think? Who was laid low by the treachery of his paramour."
chris107: "This is what I had heard. I found it in an ancient tomb on the Korm Basin."
Smon: I recall a tale that his lover cursed the blade, that it would fail at the vital moment? Not a well omened blade."
chris107: H tells the mighty smith of the false hilt and the 'cube' he found there.
chris107: Happy to be discussing swords with someone who understands.
chris107: H also drops into conversation magical rapiers and shortswords that he may know about?
chris107: (The whereabouts of such)
Smon: Aeanor listens excitedly to the tale of the cube. "Aha! So that's how she did it!"
chris107: "Aye tis a crime to mess with such a blade."
Smon: Aeanor nods. "I can forge thee a good shortsword by morning. A rapier will take a little longer... Not the equal of Bloodletter of course, but better than most steel."
chris107: "I intend to take Morthor Coff's head with Bloodletter."
Smon: Aeanor smiles: "Excellent!" He turns to ask for more wine, and Feani whispers to Hakeem: "It is courteous to gift something of equal value to that which is given."
Kjato Ragfoot: (I just had an idea but need the confirmation of the GM. There is another spell I could cast, "Scrying". But I would need a picture, a description, some belongings and something deeply personally connected to the princess)
Smon: (You can ask for those things)
chris107: Mmmmmm Has H still got the Wolfshead blade with him?
chris107: If so he will gift it to Aeanor for Thur's blade.
Smon: Hakeem sadly left Wolfshead at Thusia for his son if he did not return.
chris107: ah yes.
chris107: Let me bring his character sheet up see if he has anything else of value. If not mabe Thur or Rey have?
Smon: This is possibly where not tracking treasure bites you... OTOH Thuruar has magic taken from the Dragon Turtle AIR.
Kjato Ragfoot: Your majesty, I know of another way I might assist you. The gods might grant me to see the place where the princess is at the moment. But I would need a picture of her, something that she owned (like a dress), and something physical connected to her - like a lock of hair.
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, I took all the magic from the dragon turtle)
chris107: H has never kept any treasure to keep track of. Either spending it carousing or giving it, bar a few coins, to Malenn.
Smon: The Queen nods, eyes wide. "You shall have all that you require."
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, sadly, the results are not guaranteed. The gods can be fickle.
Kjato Ragfoot: (Potion of heroism, Potion of mind reading, Scroll of Hold Monster)
chris107: (Potion of Heroism may be a nice gift to the smith?)
Kjato Ragfoot: (also, we all took about 200 gold pieces worth of coins)
Kjato Ragfoot: The Scroll of Hold Monster might be useful as well, he could incorporate that power into a weapon?
Smon: GM: After dinner, Aeanor returns to his smithy to work on a shortsword, while the Queen has artifacts brought from her sister's room - a diaphonous blue dress, a comb with a few strands of azure hair, a picture of Valadai reclining nude - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYzDdUMrx5wJrMegDSu2QzP1Qh5mI5pVjvfXwPNZ9XFe9I0x9YdzJQXlw5___3pWcMSNCaGMdeJ7YsdFz2_WXcd_AONMawtCl53QeEHvoA1QEw2heH3W3yUeLEmBjwsYUH6dZKk4FqvkM/s320/Valadai.jpg
chris107: Got to be worth a try.
Kjato Ragfoot: (Eh. I am somehow suspecting she was either abducted by japanese teenagers or an octopus)
Smon:
Smon: Cildarith sees Thuruar's look. "My sister was always a little... flighty."
Smon: Priestess Cerdai: "While Father Thuruar readies the incantation, I will pray upon the Holy Font, make the Waters of Laer holy."
Smon: The Queen nods. "Thank you Cerdai."
Kjato Ragfoot: (Thuruar will cast an augury whether or not that prayer will support or hinder the scrying after the princess)
Kjato Ragfoot: (Secretly)
Smon: GM: The Queen dismisses you; Cerdai escorts Thuruar to the Temple of Cilborith.
Smon: Thuruar gets a strong Weal result.
Kjato Ragfoot: Laara, do you want to come along? You will probably like the temple.
Smon: Laara looks nervous. "Er, is that oj
Smon: ok?"
Kjato Ragfoot: As long as you stay in the public area, the priests should not mind - Lady Cerdai, would you grant a curious young woman that honour?
Smon: Hakeem & the others are escorted to guest quarters, Hakeem feeling a bit naked without a sword... Cerdai nods to Thuruar. "Certainly".
Smon: The Temple of Cilborith - http://3d-pornblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/3d-elf-babe2.jpg - the elven priestesses seem to be wearing little more than Laara, despite the cool night air.
Kjato Ragfoot: Perhaps there is a nice acolythe who can answer Laara some questions?
Smon: Cerdai makes the preparations upon the blessed font, Thuruar can pray to Athena and prepare...
Kjato Ragfoot: The way they are dressed, they are not going to share dressing tips.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 12,
Kjato Ragfoot: Alright, Thuruar will do so.
Smon: Laara shares loincloth-hitching tips with a temple guardswoman...
chris107: hehe
Smon: 25/6/4446: Next morning as the sun rises over the eastern mountains, Thuruar is ready to attempt the Scrying.
Smon: Cerdai: "The blessed waters of the Font are ready for you."
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. He will pray over the Holy Font for 10 minutes, beseeching Athena to let him see the current residence of the Princess.
Smon: Hakeem & co arrive - except for Amdor & Feani, who seem to have overslept. You see the Queen and her entourage approach also.
Kjato Ragfoot: (She now has to roll a wisdom save, with modifiers; +5 for not knowing her, -16 for the paraphernalia we collected)
Smon: The Queen and the others join Thuruar as he begins the ritual.
Kjato Ragfoot: (If I understand the spell description correctly)
Smon: /roll d20+2
Smon rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1, (+2) = 3
Smon: she fails
chris107:
Smon: lol
Kjato Ragfoot: No. That is good. I see her now.
Kjato Ragfoot: If she had succeeded, the spell would have failed.
chris107: Ah!
chris107: Brilliant
Kjato Ragfoot: Basically, everyone present should see her in the font.
Smon: In the waters of the font a clear image forms - Thuruar sees a dark, stone-walled bedchamber, beast heads lining the walls. In the bed lies Valadai in the arms of an unfamiliar dwarf.
Smon: The dwarf's arms are heavily tattooed, and he is contentedly puffing what Thuruar recognises as a cigar
Kjato Ragfoot: I can keep that picture up for ten minutes, does anything change during that time?
chris107: (Well I wasn't expecting that.)
Kjato Ragfoot: Does anyone present recognize the dwarf or the chamber?
Smon: Valadai appears to be sleeping. Cedai: "She's wearing a slave collar - the Dwarves have her!"
Smon: Thuruar sees the steel collar round the elf's slender neck.
Smon: The dwarf stubs out his cigar and rises from the bed - naked - several elven maidens in attendance gasp and blush.
Smon: He begins to dress in dark cloth and leather, weapon scabbards... he takes a crossbow from a wall mount.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 14,
chris107: Look out for any ensign or markings
Smon: You see Feani & Amdor approaching, both yawning.
chris107: Clan symbols maybe?
Smon: Amdor: "Sorry we're late... busy night..."
Smon: The Queen frowns. "I feel I've seen him somewhere before. Those tattoos... Feani?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, no you miss Princess Valadai.
Smon: Feani reaches the font, looks in. The colour drains from her face. "No!"
Smon: Queen Cildarith: "You know him?"
Smon: Feani nods, trembling. "Aye. Daximus Shadowborne, chief scout of Chacban. I had accounted him a friend!"
Smon: Cildarith nods, face darkening. "The dwarves of Chacban have taken my sister! This is an act of war!"
Smon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bW7Op86ox9g
chris107: Hehe
chris107: Isn't the dwarven city our next port of call?
Smon: Feani looks very shaky, Amdor chivalrously supports her.
Kjato Ragfoot: Yet, the dwarves have your sister hidden in their stone halls. A place an elven army is unlikely to penetrate easily, without drawing suspicioun and endangering the hostages live.
Smon: Feani: "The dwarves.... plotting against us!"
Smon: The Queen turns to Thuruar, eyes flashing, face grim. "What do you suggest?"
Smon: The vision in the water fades as the dwarf exits the bedchamber.
Kjato Ragfoot: Send in a small group of adventurers, that are by chance on the way through that realm anyhow, and let them free your sister through cunning and stealth.
Smon: "Yourselves?"
chris107: cunning indeed Thur
Kjato Ragfoot: If you accept our help, we are glad to offer it.
Smon: The Queen nods. "Of course. Your help is most welcome. What can we offer you in return?"
Kjato Ragfoot: (Good question. What can the elves offer us?)
chris107: (I'm scratching my head)
Smon: You see Aeanor approaching with a glittering shortsword...
Kjato Ragfoot: (Oh. Equiptment for our fight against the Black Sun would be ideal)
Smon: The Queen nods: "Welcome, Aeanor. Thuruar, this sword shall be a gift to you."
chris107: (We loose the dwarves as allies by supporting the elves. But H thinks it's the right thing to do. He hates slavery afterall)
Smon: She takes the shining blade and presents it to him. "May it serve you well in the dark places. In the name of Cilborith the Creator, I bless this blade."
Smon: The sword shines more brightly.
Kjato Ragfoot: (I also considered asking for an elf to teach the seven arts at the place of Lady Meda in the Ghinarian HIlls, once everything is over)
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: That is ... impressive. I have never seen something like that before.
Kjato Ragfoot: This is a great honour, your majesty.
chris107: "I ask nothing but your friendhip and that of your people. To have cruelly taken your sister is a terrible crime. "
Smon: "Thank you. Also we shall issue you with Cloaks of Elvenkind, that you might better evade the evil Dwarves..."
chris107: wow
Kjato Ragfoot: Wow indeed.
Smon: She turns to a factotum. "Your Majesty, we have four such cloaks."
Smon: She nods. "Will that be enough?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, that will greatly aid our quest.
chris107: We will need to leave some of our number in a place of safety while we rescue the princess. How far is it to the lair of these kidnappers?
Smon: Feani: "Two days, if we pass by the Hall of the Laer and are not attacked by the Cultists. I have been informed that many of the Gungli Ma have been seen recently in the Laer Hills."
chris107: Could four of us flit there and back under the cover of the elven cloaks?
Smon: Laara is looking uncomfortable. "Hakeem? May I speak with you?"
chris107: Whilst our friends remain here in safety..
Smon: Laara tugs at Hakeem's shoulder.
chris107: "Of course Laara. I would welcome your opinion."
Smon: Queen Cildarith: "Yes. Speak."
Smon: Laara crimsons as she suddenly finds herself the centre of attention. She gulps: "Y-your majesty..."
Smon: "... Our mission is to close the Gate of the Black Sun. If we fail, our people will die! Your sister... I think she is not in immediate danger. I think we should rescue her only when the Gate is closed."
Smon: The Queen frowns: "No. Every moment she spends in the arms of that beast sickens me! I would rather she be dead than this..." she waves at the font.
chris107: "And how far are we from Morthor's lair?"
chris107: "Will 5 days make a difference Laara?"
Smon: Feani: "I don't know exactly... I have not been past Kukul, a city of Goblins north of Chacban, on the southern edge of Morthor's realm. A few days, I think."
chris107: "We have made good time so far after all."
Smon: Laara shrugs. "We can't know, either way..."
