chris107: So do the dwarves accept the Salamander King's signet ring as payment for the elf Princess?
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, he wants to kill us with his army...
chris107: Meanie DESTROYERBILL
Smon: GM: >>You reach the tree line a little before nightfall and can set camp in forested hills. Smon: /roll d6 Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 3, chris107: "And Feani can go home. Thanks to Athena's blessings." Smon: The night passes peacefully. Smon: Next morning you continue south into an area of well-tended woodland where you are swiftly met by an elven patrol. The leader, a tall pale elf in shining mithril, hails you. Smon: "Hail!" Oculus Orbus: "Hi, there!" chris107: Mithril Kjato Ragfoot: "Hail". chris107: "Hello!" Oculus Orbus: (Tug gives Hakeem a big kiss on the mouth again) chris107: Ewwww chris107: "Stop that you big oaf!" Smon: He scans you. "Hakeem! Thuruar! Feani! You are most welcome." His gaze settles on Tug. "Err..." Oculus Orbus: "It's how us Giffs show appreciation" Smon: "High Priestess Cerdai sensed a Disturbance in the Flux... Your mission to destroy the Black Sun was successful?" chris107: "Well show it to someone else!" Kjato Ragfoot: The Black Sun probably still exists, but we slew Morthor Coff and closed the Portal. Smon: He beams happily. "Excellent news! Come, let me escort you to the City! The Queen must hear of this!" Oculus Orbus: "Okay"<<
Kjato Ragfoot: We did go to the volcano to find a vault against Terror and his water dragon army.
chris107: It would make an excellent fortress. Once all the salamanders are killed. Oh and the dwarves who want to move back in.
Kjato Ragfoot: We can offer the dwarves to return their volcano if they conquer Palen Springs for us.
chris107: And return the princess.
Smon: GM: >>Mithradain inspects the gauntlets. "There is a royal signet ring on this gauntlet! That might suffice. May I take it? If we gift them it, say our agents slew the salamander king, and request our princess's return..."<< Captain Mithradain and his elves escort you back into the fair mountain city of Anatal, where you confirm the closing of the Black Sun Gate and show Queen Cildarith the ring.
chris107: "Any news from the West Queen Cildarith?" Asks Hakeem
Smon: Cildarith - http://data.hdwallpapers.im/elf_queen.jpg - thanks you: "Mighty heroes, we are most thankful for your efforts. Our envoy shall take the ring to the Dwarves as a 'gift'..."
chris107: H is eager for news of Malenn and the child.
chris107: (About 4 months in now)
Smon: Your child is far to the south, Hakeem.
chris107: South and West I hope
Smon: Cildarith shakes her head: "News travels slowly to us here in Anatal."
Kjato Ragfoot: If we rest a couple days in Antal, I could cast "Sending" for a short talk with Malenn?
chris107: Hakeem nods sadly.
Smon: Rey points out he can always contact Sarene via the Sending Stone...
chris107: "Oh yes please Thuruar!"
chris107: Won't Sarene be heading North to meet us?
Smon: Cildarith: "You are very welcome to stay here as long as you wish. We would be honoured to provide you with anything you require."
Kjato Ragfoot: We do that tomorrow morning.
Kjato Ragfoot: A bath! With thyme soap!
Smon: Still about 3 weeks until you're due to meet Sarene at Zothay, and it's a 1 week voyage at most.
chris107: Thanks Simon.
Kjato Ragfoot: We could drive the remaining salamanders from the old dwarven temple?
chris107: OOC - The salamanders no problem. It's the instant death falls on the way in and out that worry me.
Kjato Ragfoot: I assume there are other ways in and out.
chris107: Could be. Shall we wait and see what the dwarves want to do?
Kjato Ragfoot: That sounds like a good idea. Perhaps the elves also know something about the temple.
chris107: A good long rest with the elves would do us all good.
Smon: The others nod enthusiastically at that!
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. Let's stay at least two or three days.
Kjato Ragfoot: With nice hot bubble bath!
Smon: GM: The Elves of Anatal offer you all courtesy, you can stay several days, ease your weary bones, rest and recover.
chris107: H will wander off and ask about the wizard smith. Ask him to do any repair work needed on Bloodletter and his shield.
Smon: Let me know if you want anything from them - Aeanor is after all the greatest mage-smith in the known Wilderlands...
chris107: Aeanor
Kjato Ragfoot: We have the "1 ornate helmet of jet inlaid with gold" from the werewolves.
Smon: Aeanor looks at Hakeem's battered shield. "Hmm... I can re-rim it with mithril, make it stronger and lighter?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Perhaps he can tell us more about that helmet?
chris107: Hakeem also wants to ask Aeanor about the sword and armour of Bondorr.
chris107: "Thank you mighty Aeanor!"
Smon: Aeanor inspects the helmet. "A Helm of Comprehending Languages!"
Smon: "You can tell by these mage-runes on the inner surface... see?"
chris107: "We are awash with magic!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Where... Oh. They are well hidden. I would have never noticed them by myself.
chris107: And the goggles are 'see in the dark' stuff?
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes.
Kjato Ragfoot: Goggles of Night (60' darkvision)
chris107:
chris107: The helm will be best for Thuruar?
chris107: The goggles for Rey?
Smon: Aeanor: "Friend Thuruar, while we work on mighty Hakeem's shield, perhaps we could also fit you with a suit of our fine Anatal plate armour?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Eh. I tried wearing a plate armour once, and found it extremely difficult to move.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. Wait. I have the Gauntlets now!
chris107: You do
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes! I would love that armour!
Smon: "You'll find our mithril armour much less cumbersome than human-forged steel..."
chris107: A true warrior-cleric
chris107: Hakeem enjoys spending time with the Elves.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, would it be alright if we gifted Aeanor with one of the Madrid's diamonds?
Smon: OK, it will take a week to get your gear ready. They will also fit a mithril chain shirt for Rey.
chris107: Of course my friend
Smon: The following gear will be ready for you 22/5/4446: Hakeem's shield enhanced to +1 shield. +1 mithril chain shirt for Rey (AC 14). +1 mithril plate armour for Thuruar.
chris107:
Smon: Thuruar now has AC 21 by my count. Hakeem AC 20.
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. What do you want to tell Malenn? Up to 25 words.
chris107: Yup AC20
Smon: I'll just edit sheets now...
chris107: "Hi Malenn, miss you. Hope you and child are well. We killed Morthor Coff and are on way back."
chris107: "Any news for us?"
Kjato Ragfoot: (Malenn can answer, also 25 words9
Smon: Malenn replies: "I'm well Hakeem, and baby! But terrible news from the East..."
Smon: "Ruggio of Bratanis betrayed the Lord's Alliance and joined Yusan! They're besieging Theber!"
chris107: Oh dear
chris107: "DRAT!"
chris107: "I knew I should have killed that weasel!"
Smon: You recall that Theber is the stronghold of old Lord Vilius, he of the three pretty daughters, and leader of the Alliance.
chris107: "How soon can we get there I wonder?"
Smon: OOC BTW Thuruar you can do Word of Recall now, let me know when you want to designate a place as your Sanctuary.
chris107: "It's about time Yusan parted with his head. And Ruggio, the snake, needs killing too."
Smon: You can Send again the next day?
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah. I thought I can only create a Sanctuary within a temple of Athena.
Smon: Yup.
Smon: You can consecrate your own temple though.
Kjato Ragfoot: I can send 6 times a day.
Smon: The High Temple near Zothay is the obvious choice.
Smon: Sending #2?
chris107: And we meet at Zothay in three weeks?
Kjato Ragfoot: (Wasn't Bratanis the guy Bjornalf married off?)
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, we meet Sarene in Zothay in three weeks.
chris107: (yes)
chris107: We need to know what forces Yusan has invested Theber with.
chris107: And if he's there.
Smon: What do you say in 2nd scrying, say 10 minutes later?
chris107: And make sure that Lady Meda and Thusia are safe.
Smon: Malene is in Thusia as far as you know.
chris107: That's 18 words
chris107: Anything else Kjato?
Kjato Ragfoot: Could you ask your clan to relief the town? They dislike Yusan as well, if I remember correctly?
Smon: There's a pause, then Malenn replies: "Thuruar, Lady Meda is here. She wants to Scry you and then Teleport to where you are. Can you open your mind, think of her?"
chris107: "I will lead the Greywolves down upon them!" grins Hakeem
Kjato Ragfoot: "Yes, I can do that. We are in the temple in Antal."
chris107: (Yusan could be Hakeem's father)
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will open his mind for Lady Meda.
Smon: (This is your third Sending). Malenn: "Meda says to leave the City in case it's shielded from Scrying or Teleport. She'll try in half an hour."
Smon: Are you going to step outside the city walls?
chris107: Very well....
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. I will ask an elf for a good place to meet Meda.
Kjato Ragfoot: And inform the others about what Malenn told me.
Smon: You're directed to a sunny green hillside overlooking the city wall.
chris107: "Time to bring Yusan to heel."
Smon: Hakeem and Thuruar go there, taking position in the shade of an ash tree, and wait...
Smon: Thuruar feels a sort of tingly-scratchy feeling in his mind.
chris107: Did Aeanor have any details on Bondorr's sword and armour?
Smon: Bondorr's Sword is said to be a Dragonslayer, forged to destroy the Orichalan Dragon Lords of yore.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will open his mind.
chris107: oooooooo
Smon: The armour is breastplate (half plate with vambrace & greaves) with the inset for the diamond that can restore wearer to life - he vanishes and reappears at the nearest Shrine of Bondorr.
Smon: Indeed Varek Tigerclaw was killed twice while wearing it.
chris107: ooooooooo
Kjato Ragfoot: (The armour of respawn!)
chris107: (and thanks  )
Smon: On use the diamond is destroyed & must be replaced.
Smon: A breeze rustles the trees...
Smon: /roll d100
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets: 48,
Smon: *whew* Lady Meda steps out from behind the tree, smiling. "Hello my friends."
Kjato Ragfoot: Lady Meda!
chris107: "Lady Meda! How are you? How are malenn and the child? So good to see you."
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello!
Smon: She looks out across the walls of Anatal. "A beautiful city... I have never been there."
Smon: Meda smiles warmly at Hakeem. "Malenn is very well - she is at the mid point of her pregnancy I believe."
Kjato Ragfoot: We will have to introduce you to the Queen before you return, she would otherwise be very disappointed.
Smon: She nods. "I would be pleased to meet the Queen. It will be tomorrow before I can return us to Thusia... if the spell goes well. Bewarned, it often goes awry."
Kjato Ragfoot: I would need to prepare a Sanctuary before I can Recall myself to a place of safety.
chris107: (How many sanctuaries can you have Kjato?)
Kjato Ragfoot: (Only one)
chris107: "Then let's get into the warm and make our introductions? Unless you have private words for us Lady?"
Smon: (BTW at my count it's 300 miles Thusia-Anatal).
Kjato Ragfoot: That is quite a long way.
chris107: (London-Yorkish? Dick Turpin rode it overnight on Black Bess)
chris107: "A long trip. Even with a ship waiting."
Smon: Meda looks grave. "News from the north is very promising - the undead armies of Nerath have collapsed. The Altanian Horde besieges half the Nerathi army at the ruins of Nerra. But half the Nerathi left Nerra before the collapse, heading southwest - I think to attack the gnomes of Ractuan from their rear. As far as I know they are there now. But to the east, Yusan has struck a surprise blow, as Malenn told you. He is aided by the wizards of the Conclave and by the traitor, Ruggio."
Smon: "War swirls around Thusia... I pray to Mycr that it pass us by."
chris107: "Then it is time to take both their heads."
Smon: Meda nods sadly.
Smon: "Perhaps... Unless there is another way."
chris107: "How far to Theber?"
Kjato Ragfoot: "I doubt that. You angered to many of your neighbours with your aversion to slavery."
chris107: "A fine objection to a foul institution my Lady."
Smon: You walk back to the city gate, two Elven guards with pike & mail step aside to allow you past, into the warm sunlit streets.
Kjato Ragfoot: (Hmm. I could summon Inferno the Efreet to teleport Yusan into a well known vulcano nearby?)
chris107: Hakeem really likes it here. He could see his child been happy with the elves.
Smon: Meda: "I think it is some forty miles from Thusia to Theber, as the crow flies. But the town may have already fallen... By all accounts they were not ready for this."
chris107: "By Bondorr I'll have that snake Ruggio's balls for this!" Thunders Hakeem.
Smon: You walk up the hill to the Palace, Lady Meda looking around appreciatively. "The power of Law is strong here."
Kjato Ragfoot: It is.
Smon: You enter the Palace, requesting an audience with the Queen. It is soon granted, along with Captain Mithradain, Aeanor, and the local high priestess, Cerdai. Your adventuring friends are also summoned.
Smon: Cildarith: "You are most welcome, Lady Meda. We have heard rumours of your good works, even here." Lady Meda smiles, bowing. "And I of yours, your Grace."
Smon: Cildarith summons Meda forward, and they discuss matters for some time, seeming to get along well.
Smon: GM: You going to rest overnight then teleport to Thusia in the morning?
Kjato Ragfoot: (That sounds sensible?)
chris107: yes please.
Kjato Ragfoot: (I would say "Yes". Even though that means we won't get our stuff from the smith)
Smon: That night a feast is held in Meda's honour. The Elves ask many questions about Amazons, Viridians, Mycr, et al.
Smon: I'm thinking it's 22/5 currently & you have your stuff.
Smon: You were resting up before.
Kjato Ragfoot: (All right. Then, let's go. We wanted to go there anyway.
chris107: Someone needs to let Serannie know
Kjato Ragfoot: Rey can do that with his stones.
chris107: Do not let her know where we are going
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will ask Feani how she feels, now that she successfully returned from her mission, and whether she feels absolved from her last sin?
Smon: GM: The next morning you all assemble - Meda can bring Hakeem, Thuruar, Rey, Tug, Alicia & Laara back with her.
chris107: Unless you think she can start getting a strike force together.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. And did the dwarves react to the signet ring?
Smon: I was getting to that...
Smon: There is a commotion in the royal hall. A messenger shouts: "Your Grace! Your sister the Princess Valadai is returned!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh.
chris107: "Haha! The dwarves have come to their senss at last!"
Smon: A rather dipsy looking blue-haired elven princess is brought forward, accompanied by a male elf in aristocrat garb - the emissary. He bows, and speaks to the Queen: "The King of Chacban received our gifts with thanks, and ordered the Princess be given her rightful freedom."
Smon: Queen Cildarith nods. "Good... though it cost us dear. Any news of the Nerathi?"
Smon: The emissary nods. "The Dwarves say the Warbringer is angered, and was seen on the road west of Chacban, passing from Valera towards Palen Spring."
chris107: Hakeem growls at this news
Smon: The Queen shudders slightly. "Then let us hope the trail of our friends is cold... Friend Hakeem, even you would not wish to face the God's Son in battle."
chris107: "I must face the Warbringer soon. I would rather do it with Bondorr's sword in my hand."
chris107: "I will not shirk my duty."
Kjato Ragfoot: You are collecting enemies as other men collecting butterflies, Hakeem.
chris107: Hakeem shrugs. Happy that the day is coming when he will face the Warbringer.
chris107: "All men must die friend Thuruar. To die in battle is glorious."
Kjato Ragfoot: But not you will suffer the aftermath, but those you hold dear.
Smon: Cildarith: "He is more than twenty feet tall, they say... and he wields the Shield of Bane... no blade, no weapon, can pierce it."
chris107: "But to triumph over the very son of bloody Ares would be a great victory!"
Kjato Ragfoot: It would. But, as the queen said, unless we can seperate him from his shield, you won't be able to defeat him.
chris107: "Drat!"
chris107: "Then let us go and kill Ruggio and see what Yusan has to say?"
chris107: Hakeem daydreams about a mighty battle with the son of Ares.
Smon: The elf princess Valadai, clad in a diaphonous blue gown, steps forward. "I would wish to thank you..." Rey steps briskly in front of Thuruar & Hakeem, smiling broadly.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will slightly nudge Alicia into Rey.
chris107: hehe
Smon: Rey: "Don't mention it, it was nothing... Care for a stroll in the garden before...?" Alicia is nudged forward at this point by Thuruar.
Smon: Rey: doesn't lose a beat "...With my friend Alicia and me?"
Smon: Valadai: "Gladly... All I have seen for weeks is dreary dwarf stone... The sight would gladden me."
Smon: Rey puts an arm round Alicia & the princess Valadai, leading them to a doubtless secluded spot in the Royal Garden... the Queen watches after them, sighs slightly.
Smon: Queen Cildarith: "Hakeem, Thuruar, I thank you again. We are forever in your debt."
chris107: Hakeem shakes his great shaggy head. "Somethings never change."
Smon: (Gonna log off & on again now)
Kjato Ragfoot: You are welcome!
chris107: "Thank you Queen Cildarith."
chris107: What do you think then Kjato?
chris107: We have many choices ahead of us.
Kjato Ragfoot: I would say we face Ruggio first.
Kjato Ragfoot: And then, off to the Nerathi Queen of the plains to convince her to send her soldiers along your clan against Yusan.
chris107: Okay, your wisdom has proved good in the past. We will follow Thuruar's advise.
Smon: (Not sure who Nerathi Queen of the plains is)
Kjato Ragfoot: (Amber told us of a Nerathi female lord who was taken prisoner and replaced by two Black Sun agents).
Kjato Ragfoot: (She was allied with the rangers)
Smon: Thuruar speaks with Feani, who is looking shy again amidst all the great elven lords & ladies of Anatal, gathered to bid you farewell. >>Thuruar will ask Feani how she feels, now that she successfully returned from her mission, and whether she feels absolved from her last sin?<< She nods. "Yes... I did my bit, didn't I Father Thuruar? And thanks for bringing me back to life!" She leans in and kisses Thuruar on his right cheek, then steps back, blushing slightly.
Smon: (Yes, Queen of Hara/Mara, the Brigit-Erathis nature priestess Earani Cor - not a queen currently.)
Kjato Ragfoot: You did well Feani, it was good to have you along.
Smon: Feani smiles, face a bit red. "Thanks! ...I will take word back to my King in Onhir."
chris107: Then we shall strike a blow agin Ruggio and Yusan. Then off to help this Earani Cor get her city back."
Smon: Laara is looking thoughtful.
Kjato Ragfoot: What is on your mind Laara?
Smon: "I should get back to our people, the Greywolf, as soon as I can, Thuruar. They have been without a Defender for too long. I can... see... things that the Wise Women cannot."
Kjato Ragfoot: (Hakeem was a Greywolf as well?)
chris107: (Yes)
Smon: GM: After a rather long wait, a grinning Rey returns from the gardens with a flushed-looking Princess & Alicia, bits of grass in their robes.
Smon: Rey: "Ready to go!" Tug steps forward too - the Elves are giving him a wide berth.
9:16pm  2016-2-28 Oculus Orbus Has entered the room
Smon: As you assemble in the centre of the Hall, the Queen speaks one last time. "May the Grace of Our Lord Cilborith go with you all." Lady Meda bows again. "And may the Light of Mycr go with you."
Oculus Orbus: Tug!
chris107: OCCLES!
Kjato Ragfoot: Occles!
Oculus Orbus: Hi, guys
chris107: Gathering up his stuff Hakeem prepares for the magical journey
Smon: Tug is looking a little disoriented the High Hall of Anatal, surrounded by Elven lords and the strange greenish-skinned Sorceress Lady Meda, who is apparently a friend of Thuruar, Hakeem & Rey.
Oculus Orbus: "Howdy"
Smon: Meda indicates for Hakeem, Rey, Thuruar, Tug, Alicia & Laara to join hands with her.
Oculus Orbus: tug complies
Smon: (It's 8 days since you reached Anatal, you are rested and ready to go)
chris107: yup
Smon: Meda: "It is possible the Teleport will not take us exactly to where we wish to go... I can employ such magic but once a day. Be ready, if things should go awry..."
Oculus Orbus: (fyi, I don't know how long I can do this. i'm in some pain)
chris107: (Poor Occs  )
Kjato Ragfoot: (Get better Occs!)
Oculus Orbus: "Didn't we et teleported into a volcano last time?"
Smon: OOC need 26+ on d% to make it back to Thusia... (only 30 minutes left Oc, have to stop for chris's game at 10pm right?)
chris107: H is ready with Bloodletter.
Oculus Orbus: thanks guys.
Smon: Meda: "Hopefully we will avoid any volcanoes..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, that would be great.
Oculus Orbus: (roger that)
Smon: Lady Meda utters the Words of Power...
Smon: /roll d100
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets: 40,
chris107: (Yup, think it was brought forward to 9 but I've all ready sent my apologies)
Oculus Orbus: Owa tagoo Siam
Smon: You appear on a grassy village green, cottages and a small villa all around, the green Ghinarian Hills rising beyond the sturdy palisade.
Smon: "Hakeem!!!"
chris107: H looks around
Oculus Orbus: "What the-?"
chris107: "Malenn?!"
Smon: And Hakeem turns to see his beloved Malenn, now visibly pregnant in a white gown with daisies in her hair, rushing forward to embrace him...
chris107: "hahhahahahahahah!"
chris107: he embraces her gently
Kjato Ragfoot: Malenn with daisies in her hair???
Smon: Apparently the crowd of Men, Amazons and white-painted Ghuls around the green were expecting this, for they burst into applause.
Oculus Orbus: "Hakeem, you rascal!"
Smon: (daisies - Meda had plenty of time to work on her...)
chris107:
Smon: You see Tania the Amazon scout, she grins and salutes you. Even dour Weaponmaster Damne smiles slightly.
chris107: Hakeem has no plans to wear daisies anywhere.
Smon: Damne - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixBvZr2r3KH0LDHW-FMRZGDzHHi98qERqUuy6OWK31ey387vOBs3zs_nKIKouZsS6pgByV612O1s4NdAlEiR-gfCq-jge3N9SuSE8kVHdRVeiG65ESEd1gwMFKt9glfdftgfn1nJQ32v0/s320/amazon.jpg - looks up at the enormous Giff.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. Tani and Damne. Those were great.
Smon: Damne addresses Tug, hand on sword hilt: "What manner of man or beast art thou?"
Oculus Orbus: "Hi, there"
Oculus Orbus: "They call us Giffs."
Smon: "Gifts? Thou art a very... large... gift, indeed."
Oculus Orbus: (Tug blushes)
Oculus Orbus: "No, it's 'giff.' Rhymes with, uh..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Pfiff?
Oculus Orbus: "Well, I dunno what it rhymes with"
Smon: Tania the Scout goes over to Meda, they exchange a brief conversation. Meda turns to Rey. "I understand you left... slaves... at the Temple-Tomb of Belaras. I fear they have been sold on, to slavers."
Smon: Damne nods to Tug. "If you will stand with us against the forces of Chaos, then thou art a Gift indeed."
Smon: Rey scowls at Meda's words. "Kinda forgot about them... Any idea where they went?"
Smon: Meda: "To Ayhf, most likely."
Smon: Malenn turns from Hakeem's warm embrace. "I'm sorry, Rey. We found out too late."
Oculus Orbus: Tug gives a big thumbs-up
Smon: Damne slaps Tug's massive shoulder in a friendly-ish fashion. "If you are hungry, we have food prepared..." she indicates the Hall.
Oculus Orbus: "I could eat."
Smon: Meda: "Thank you, Damne. Let us go inside."
Smon: Damne leads you all into Lady Meda's Hall, where a substantial late breakfast has been prepared.
Smon: Malenn keeps tight hold of Hakeem, as if not wanting to let him go.
Smon: Malenn: "You will stay... a little while... won't you my beloved?"
chris107: "A little while Malenn. And I'll be back with Ruggio's head and Bondorr's sword before you know it!"
Oculus Orbus: ooc I gotta lie down. back asap
chris107: Take it easy Occs.
Smon: Malenn nods. "He well deserves death. We heard he murdered Aeschela, his 'bride'... strangled her. He claimed she tried to kill him in his sleep."
chris107: "Another crime he will answer for. The cur!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. Why did he do this - he enslaved her for allying with Yusan in the first place. Something smells fishy.
Smon: Malenn shrugs. "I know not."
Smon: As you eat, Weaponmaster Damne fetches a local area map - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFCG1oAJwFOGbYkrEhYfj7jyzNTItL8vU8Etg7GEL2k71t9JAdxmXtb2jaHPeBMkcFyRj6t8yAGmJZYSTVSYMhTBk3BGcmcryUF37ffHzHc3D-8mtvfu90vGJfbwdPM2o1JhOAvGIduHA/s640/Ghinarian+Hills.jpg
chris107: mmmm why cqan't I find it?
Smon: Damne: "We think half the Nerathi are at Ractuan, in the West - that they planned to destroy the gnomes there, then march south against the brigands of Carchimish. But that was before their undead legions collapsed - they may have retreated now to their base at Hara. We heard from Ahyf that the other half of Nerath's army were trapped at Nerra by a great Altanian host."
Smon: Link not working? It's the Ghinarian Hills map near the top of http://smons.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/the-ghinarian-hills-campaign-labyrinth.html just below the Factions of Altanis map.
chris107: Ah I have it.
Smon: Damne points to Thusia (where you are now) then east to Theber. "Yusan is there with his army, and wizards of the Unseen Conclave. Unless the other Lords rallied swiftly, Theber may already have fallen."
Smon: Rey grimaces at the thought of Lord Vilius' daughters in Yusan's hands.
chris107: "So let us do war upon Yussan and his footpad Ruggio. let them tremble at our coming!"
Kjato Ragfoot: I do not think it would make a big difference if we three show up there, unless we bring an army with us.
Smon: Damne nods. "The swiftest way to Theber from here is via Ayhf.
chris107:
chris107: Then to Nerra? Kill the last of the Black Sun devils there then lead the Altani host down upon them?
Smon: Damne points out the Thusia-Sceros-Trade-Ayhf route, about 65 miles, the first half through the hills to Ayhf, the second east along the coast.
Smon: Rey: "I can check in with Sarene using the Sending stone?"
Kjato Ragfoot: We could try that, but I am not sure we do that in time before Theber falls.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. That would be a great idea!
chris107: "Yes we need to make a plan off attack."
Smon: Rey takes out the smooth stone, concentrates, then nods. "Sarene says Nerra has fallen to your guys, Hakeem. Someone called Minars Rappak took the head of a Prince of Nerrath. Their army there is wiped out."
Smon: Laara: "Minars Rappak is Chief of Clan Seawolf. He has taken the glory."
Kjato Ragfoot: (Oh. That means another Prince of Nerrath is dead. Only one left)
chris107: Hakeem looks a bit miffed but at least it's our side doing the killing.
Kjato Ragfoot: Can we convince the clans to march against Yusan? If I remember correctly, they consider him a traitor?
Smon: (There were 5 in the letter - Valoth Mett died years ago, you killed Morthor Coff. Leaves Borritt Crowfinger the Necromancer, Halvath II Cormarrin, & Thulseus Doomfire the Set-priest.)
chris107: They do indeed. he raped a clan chiefteness.
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah. See Hakeem, two left for you to kill!
Smon: Laara: "Worse - he raped and murdered a Psychic Defender!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, it seems we have our army right there. With the Nerathi defeated, they should be able to march forth to meet yusan in Battle.
chris107: "I suppose we do  "
Smon: Damne: "Most of their undead have collapsed, but they still have half the Nerathi living soldiers."
Smon: Damne: "If they are at Mara, they block the land route from Nerra south to Yusan at Theber."
Smon: Rey: "Sarene has two ships, though..."
chris107: Then we take Mara first
chris107: or ship 'em round?
chris107: Do we know Yussan and Ruggio's strength?
Smon: Damne: "Finish the evil Nerathi at Mara? Free the enslaved queen?"
Kjato Ragfoot: In that case, we should hurry to north to free the queen of Earani Cor - that might convince parts of their army to fight Yusan alongside the Altanians instead of the Altanians.
chris107: "Why not?"
Smon: Meda: "Yusan has men in the hundreds - fewer than the Nerathi - but they are Altanian warriors..."
chris107: "If I slay Yusan. They will come to heel. Dogs without a master."
Smon: Meda: "Thuruar, I believe you are wise. The Neo-Nerathi have suffered great defeats. Perhaps if you free Earani Cor and join with the Rangers of the Wode, the westerners could be persuaded to return west of the mountains without further slaughter.
Kjato Ragfoot: That is what I hope, as well.
Smon: Meda turns to Hakeem. "If you slay Yusan, his son will seek to take his place."
Smon: "...Unless..."
chris107: "Rumour has it I may be his son Lady."
Smon: "...Some say you are Yusan's son, Hakeem." (x-post)
Smon: Damne: "Then the Brigands will likely follow you - if you offer them plunder, battle and glory."
chris107:
chris107:
chris107: "It will be a cleaner plundering than they are used to. But by Bondorr they will have their fill!"
Kjato Ragfoot: The Red Reavers and the City State offer plenty of all.
Smon: LOL
chris107: Yup
Smon: Malenn smiles broadly: "The Red Reavers! Yes!"
Smon: GM: So, where are you heading next session?
Kjato Ragfoot: To Earani Cor.
chris107: Sounds like we have a plan.
chris107: yes
Smon: OK<
Smon: Who's going - Hakeem Thuruar Tug Rey? Anyone else?
chris107: Another fruitful session. Thanks Simon, Kjato, Occs
Kjato Ragfoot: Alicia probably.
chris107: We need to get Laara back to clan Greywolf
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. Right. Definitely.
Smon: Rey doesn't need Alicia for Mage Armour anymore, but her new Fly power is handy.
Smon: From Mara is an easy trip east to Greywolf territory, yup.
chris107: very
Smon: Wednesday ok for next session?
Kjato Ragfoot: Good. Then laara should come along.
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, Wednesday should work for me.
chris107: Wednesday is perfect for me.
Smon: OOC if you don't need Sarene for transport you might want to send her to collect poor Kaag from the Temple of Athena where you left him.
chris107: Hopefully a level for Thur tonight?
Smon: Yeah, I'm sure Thuruar levelled to 12th.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. Yes. That might be a good idea.
chris107: Kaag will be a useful ally
Kjato Ragfoot: The Altanians might need a proper warchief that does not accidently die during his sleep.
Kjato Ragfoot: I lacked 272 XP.
Smon: Even without killing anything you made that.

chris107: 118/161HP then?
Smon: Yup
chris107: Sorry dropped connection looking for Hakeems sheet
chris107: It may make all the difference!
Smon: GM: So, Hakeem was in the corridor when the sleep gas was released... I believe that's a DC 13 CON save or fall asleep.
chris107 rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 10, (+10) = 20
chris107: Yay!
Smon: Hakeem shrugs off the sleep gas...
Smon: I'll say he can go now at bottom of the round.
chris107: He will rage and Berserk, attacking the king recklessly!
Smon: Inside the Salamander King's bedchamber, the King is beating the hell out of Rey, while Tug battles a salamander guard.

chris107 rolls 3d8+30 and gets: 8, 2, 4, (+30) = 44

Smon:
chris107: yay!
Smon: Rey leaps over it!
Smon: Thuruar, your turn.
Kjato Ragfoot: I will cast Contagion on the Salamander King. (It needs to roll a CON save against DC 17 or be inflicted with Slimy Doom).
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. Wait.
Kjato Ragfoot: I need to hit first.
chris107: Slimy Doom!
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+19 and gets: 9, (+19) = 28
Kjato Ragfoot: (Really. The name. How can you choose another infliction if you have slimy doom?)
Smon: GM: The Salamander King begins to bleed fiery blood from every orifice...
Smon: "GRAAA-AH!" it moans.
chris107: hehe
Smon: Hakeem's turn.

4 (+4) = 8
Smon: fail
chris107: Yay
Smon: Nasty spell there, Thuruar!
Kjato Ragfoot: It is.
Kjato Ragfoot: I am somewhat surprised HOW nasty it actually is...
chris107: Very helpful!
Smon: Thuruar's go.
Kjato Ragfoot: Spiritual Weapon on Guard, normal attack on king.
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+9 and gets: 2, (+9) = 11
Smon: It would have to save 3 times with disad to end effect, & is meanwhile stunned when takes dmg...
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 4, (+6) = 10
Kjato Ragfoot: And between Rey and Hakeem, it is very likely to take damage!

chris107 rolls 5d8+30 and gets: 1, 5, 6, 3, 3, (+30) = 48
Smon: Roll the first 2 onlt
Smon: 1st 2 do 29, the King had 29 hp and goes down.
Smon: Hit guard with 3rd attack?
chris107: yes please if the wretched king is dead
Smon: Sorry 1st 2 do 32.
Smon: Hakeem guts the salamander king, then swipes off the remaining guard's head.
Smon: Silence falls!
Smon: Rey: "Easy..."
Smon: "*cough*"
chris107: Hakeem gives thanks to Bondorr.
Kjato Ragfoot: Rey, it seems you need a helping hand. Here, take some Cure Wounds.
chris107: And calms his rage.
Smon: "Cheers!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Roll 2d8+10
Kjato Ragfoot: /roll 2d8+10
Smon: You roll.
chris107: Hakeem stalks around to make sure there are no more Salamanders in the vecinity.
Kjato Ragfoot: (Did the roll work? My browser froze)
chris107: The dice roller does seem very odd tonight.
Kjato Ragfoot: (Might be, but the browser restarted and I never saw the result. What did I roll? Did I roll at all?)
Smon: The door the salamander guards came through at the w end of the n wall is ajar. Looking through it Hakeem sees a 10x20 guard station, empty, and an archway leading into a large council room with huge table and 13 stone chairs, another archway in the far wall.
Smon: You didn't roll.
Smon: I'll do it:
Smon: /roll 2d8+10
Smon rolls 2d8+10 and gets: 3, 1, (+10) = 14
chris107: (It didn't show a result at this end Kjato)
Smon: Rey gets 14 back.
Smon: Rey at 22 hp.
Smon: He goes and wakes up Alicia & Feani.
Smon: It's extremely hot in here, you won't be able to stay long.
chris107: Should we scout a little or take a short rest?
Smon: Hopefully there are cooler areas nearby...
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will check this brazier out. (This thing the king used to emit sleep smoke)
Smon: You'll take 60 dmg if you try to short rest here.
chris107: Okay, search and move on.
chris107: (Thank heavens Hakeem doesn't wear hot, heavy armour  )
Smon: The brazier is ornate.
Smon: Hakeem notices the king was wearing ornate gauntlets marked with mystic runes.
Kjato Ragfoot: Could we carry it along?
Smon: The guard you killed also wore similar gauntlets, but the runes on his seem subtly 'off'.
Kjato Ragfoot: Those would be useful as therapy for insomniacs!
chris107: Wrapping his hands in his wolfskin to protect v heat he will pull them off.
Smon: Hakeem could carry the brazier, he'd be encumbered while carrying.
Smon: Hakeem pulls off the hot gauntlets.
Smon: They seem to shrink as he looks at them.
chris107: Are there more 'dusts'?
Smon: Yes, you find more packets of dust under the bed.
Smon: /roll 2d4+1
Smon rolls 2d4+1 and gets: 1, 4, (+1) = 6
Smon: 6.
chris107: Perhaps Tug and Rey can carry the brazier between them so that Hakeem is free to react and kill stuff?
Smon: Tug could carry it solo.
Smon: You need to leave now or take dmg.
chris107: That may be a way forward then?
Kjato Ragfoot: Then let's say Tug carries to brazier to explain why he is so off-minded today?
Smon: ok
chris107: Hakeem wraps the (hopefully cooling) gauntlets and takes 'em with us.
chris107: Yeah lets push on
Smon: Hakeem takes the king's gauntlets, Tug the brazier, and you head north into the conference room, which is slightly cooler.
Kjato Ragfoot: (And the dust)
chris107: (The king's crown was just iron wasn't it?)
Smon: yes
Smon: The Council Room seems empty to a quick check.
chris107: Through the next archway.
Smon: The archway beyond leads to the east end of a long east-west passage, dimly lit with a red glow. Still very hot.
Smon: 150' down this tunnel you come to a short side tunnel to the left/south that leads to a brass door inscribed with Ignan runes. The main tunnel continues west into the distance.
Kjato Ragfoot: Last time we opened Ingnan runes, we met an angry king...
chris107: Hakeem is ready to meet another angry king
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, then open the door very quietly.
Smon: You notice a depression in the door face which matches a cross-shaped ridge on the gauntlets Hakeem is carrying.
chris107: Have they cooled sufficiently to touch?
Smon: On inspection, the cross-ridge is attached to a ring round the ring finger of the right gauntlet.
Smon: They are still warm, but can be touched.
chris107: Could H put them on and touch the depression with the ring?
Smon: Yes.
chris107: He does so.
Kjato Ragfoot: This is either the Salamander Queen's bed chamber or the treasury.
Smon: Hakeem puts on the gauntlets - they grant STR 19, so no effect on Hakeem.
chris107: Treasury would be nice
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. Oh. That would be great for Thuruar.
chris107: They weaken him!
Smon: He touches the depression; with a slight twist there is a click and the doors swing open towards you.
chris107: Maybe Thuruar would like them?
Smon: You are facing leathery green curtain drapes that hide whatever is beyond.
Smon: It looks like you can push through them.
Kjato Ragfoot: Gauntlet's of Hakeem Strength.
chris107: Hakeem will toss the warm gloves to his friend when he gets chance.
Smon: Thuruar can take them now - gauntlets of ogre power STR 19
chris107:
chris107: H pushes them aside with Bloodletter. His shield at the ready.
chris107: Nice!
Smon: Pushing through the curtain, Hakeem comes out at the north end of a vast throneroom, lit by lava fountains to his left and right in the NW and NE corners.
Smon: The chamber is some 180' deep n-s, 150' e-w, the ceiling supported by huge pillars.
chris107: Wow
chris107: Very grand.
Smon: 50' to the south of you is the 'throne', a 15' high "box" of solid stone inlaid with jewels.
chris107: Hakeems eyes gleam and a big smile fills his face when he sees the jewels.
Smon: Beyond the throne are obvious trap doors with heavy chains to pull up the vast doors, and the main doors to the throne room are directly opposite on the south wall.
Smon: No sign of any salamanders.
Smon: brb - tea
chris107: H stalks, pillar to pillar towards the throne and it's jewels
chris107: Nice gauntlets Kjato
chris107: Just the thing for a war cleric.
Kjato Ragfoot: Yup. Now, Thuruar can wield a war hammer as he ought to!
Smon:
Smon: Hakeem reaches the throne; what are you using to prise out the gems (mostly rubies & emeralds)?
chris107: mmmmm
chris107: good question.
Kjato Ragfoot: Would a dagger work?
chris107: Does he have an eating dagger in his adventurers pack?
8:06pm  2016-2-20 Oculus Orbus Has entered the room
Smon: Hi Oc!
Oculus Orbus: Game today?
Smon: Tug's ALIVE!
chris107: OCCLES!
Smon: Yes
chris107:
Oculus Orbus: Dagnabbit, I thought it was wednesday!
Oculus Orbus: also, hi!
Smon: Once Hakeem woke up and Thuruar cast Slimy Doom on the salamander king it was all over bar the dying (of salamaders).
Smon: You need to subscribe to the discussion thread Oc.
Oculus Orbus: what time did you guys start?
Kjato Ragfoot: An hour ago.
Smon: 7pm. No game on Wednesday.
chris107: an hour ago
Smon: Next I can do is next Sunday 28th, though I wish it wasn't so...
Oculus Orbus: okay, I have to reschedule my shit. continue on while I figure it out.
Smon: A lovely girl agreed to go on a date with me hiking in Richmond deer park on the 28th - then I found out the trains aren't running that day!
Oculus Orbus: meaning I have stuff to do, but I can move it around, I hope
Smon: So I can play D&D that day if you can...
chris107: Bochigame starts at 10 but I'm good until then next Sunday.
Smon: Anyway, we're playing now until 10pm or so.
chris107: Simon, Bugger!
Kjato Ragfoot: AH, that is a pity.
Smon: (Best thing about this girl, never been one of my students, so no guilt!)
chris107:
Smon: @Oc - I played Tug, he shot more rounds from his pistol into a salamander, it missed him a lot, he used his second wind & is at 93/94 hp.
chris107: So can we prise out lots of lovely gem stones?
Smon: You are in the king's throneroom now.
Smon: Rey helps Hakeem prize out the gemstones from the throne block...
Smon: /roll 12d6
Smon rolls 12d6 and gets: 1, 2, 5, 2, 6, 1, 1, 3, 3, 2, 1, 2, = 29
Smon: 29 gemstones
Smon: /roll 3d6
Smon rolls 3d6 and gets: 1, 1, 3, = 5
Smon: Average value 500gp.
Smon: Wow the dice REALLY suck tonight!
chris107: Hakeem keeps a beady eye on the greedy rogue
chris107: Wow that could have been a huge haul!
Smon: Rey: "Don't worry, I'm too sick to be naughty..."
chris107: Very nice anyway
Smon: Sadly most are badly flawed.
Kjato Ragfoot: It still is not that bad, compared to what we had before.
Smon: No salamanders in here, but with the lava fountains, still far too hot to rest.
chris107: Yeah it's about our biggest haul so far
Smon: (Oh I never mentioned Laara - she is with you, keeping to the back!)
chris107: So through the doors to the south or back onto the Western corridor?
chris107: (Good old Laara)
chris107: A fine Greywolf girl.
Smon: "Thanks Hakeem" smiles Laara.
chris107: We have to keep her safe.
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, we do.
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's have a look behind the southern doors.
Kjato Ragfoot: Rey can sneak ahead and listen.
Oculus Orbus: I'm back
Oculus Orbus: Rey
Smon: Thuruar pushes open the great southern doors, feeling the new strength from the iron gauntlets he wears.
chris107: Do the southern doors have 'depressions' that match Thur's new gloves?
Smon: no
Smon: Beyond a broad 20' wide tunnel runs south 120' before splitting at a Y-junction.
Oculus Orbus: the dreaded "Y"
Oculus Orbus: Giff traditionally go left
Smon: Rey sneaks ahead, keeping to the shadows. He takes the left/SE fork, but then appears a moment later coming out of the right/SW fork.
Oculus Orbus: *Giffs
chris107: Any sound coming down it?
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. That seems to be a rather pointless route.
Oculus Orbus: A loop
Oculus Orbus: check for secret doors?
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's take the Western corridor then.
Smon: Rey sneaks back to you. "The tunnels rejoin - basically they just split around a giant pillar. It's a crossroads, tunnels of to W E and S."
chris107: Odd, a passage to nowhere?
chris107: Ah
Smon: "No, there are passages going off."
chris107: Got you.
Smon: Reaching the intersection you can inspect the tunnels that run off from the central pillar/junction.
chris107: Any off them noticably cooler?
Oculus Orbus: Hi, Chris
Smon: It's definitely a bit cooler here. Tunnel to west looks to end after 90' with a door in the n wall. Tunnel to south is wide, 20' wide, runs 50' and ends w door in west wall. Tunnel to east runs off as far as you can see, with a fork to the left/north after 20'.
Oculus Orbus: glad you saved us
Smon: Your general impression is that north (where you started) is hot, south seems cooler.
Smon: Rey: "Want me to check one out?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Take a look at the western door, please.
Smon: Rey sneaks down the 10' wide west tunnel to the door in the north wall, listens and returns.
Smon: "All quiet to the west."
Kjato Ragfoot: Since the south seems cooler, it would probably best to go south?
chris107: Good idea
Oculus Orbus: Sounds good ta me
Smon: Rey nods, sneaks south to the door in the passage's west wall, listens, bends down and looks through a crack at the bottom of the door, and returns...
Oculus Orbus: Chris, are you to home?
Smon: /roll d20+10
Smon rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 1, (+10) = 11
chris107: So south and to the door in the west side?
Smon: /roll d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 2, (+4) = 6
chris107: I'm at my home in Yorkshire.
Smon: Rey nods. "Seems quiet."
Oculus Orbus: On a proper computer?
chris107: What is the door made out off?
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. So, the door leads west, not south?
chris107: On a laptop.
Smon: You head south and open the door in the west wall, to the sight of a salamander barracks!
Oculus Orbus: "Rey, whyntcha go on ahead through the door? Y'know, cuz you're sneaky."
chris107: I think so
Oculus Orbus: ugh
Smon: Many of the rugs are empty, but on four against the west wall lie four curled-up sleeping salamanders.
chris107: How many I wonder?
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. Let's close the door very quickly and run away.
Oculus Orbus: which way did the door open? In or out?
Smon: In, away from you.
Smon: On a 5-6 they wake up...
Oculus Orbus: thanks
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 3,
Smon: They are snoring happily.
chris107: No other exits in the barraks?
Oculus Orbus: (whispering) "don't nobody move"
Smon: No other exits visible. You can close the door if you like.
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. Let's close the door and leave.
Oculus Orbus: Yeah, works f'r me
Smon: Rey eases the door shut and you return to the intersection.
chris107: We need to find another rout south then.
chris107: East then?
Smon: Rey nods.
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, east and south sounds like the best bet.
Smon: Anyone have low-light vision?
Oculus Orbus: I don't know which way's up, so lead on
Oculus Orbus: not me
Kjato Ragfoot: Rey can wear the Googles of the Night we took from the Werewolves.
chris107: Maybe those goggles?
Kjato Ragfoot: And Thuruar can cast Light for the rest of the group.
Smon: Rey tries the goggles... "Better. I can see now this tunnel ends in a right (south) turn, just after a door in the north wall."
Oculus Orbus: Don't cast Light unless it's critical that we need it
Smon: "About 140' past the north side tunnel."
Kjato Ragfoot: I can cast light as often as I want. It is a cantrip.
chris107: The north spur leads to?
Smon: GM: Moving 20' down this passage you reach the north side tunnel, it runs ca 40' ending in a door in the west wall.
Oculus Orbus: I know, but I mean we don't want to give ourselves away
Smon: You continue east?
Kjato Ragfoot: Wait. There is a tunnel leading east from the great pillar (loop way)
Smon: yes, that's the one you started down.
chris107: I think so. Lets head south. If we can find a way out we can come back and kill all the salamanders later
Oculus Orbus: my kingdom for a map
chris107: yes
Kjato Ragfoot: After a while, we pass a door to the north. Shortly after the door the east tunnel turns south?
Smon: You head east from the loopway, past a short side tunnel to the north.
chris107: east, pass the north spur and turn south at the end
Smon: After another 140' it passes a door in the north wall, 15' beyond that it turns south.
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. My map makes more sense now.
Smon: You ignore the north door & follow the passage south?
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. South then.
chris107: And to the door in the west wall at the end of the south passage
Smon: You go round the bend south/right...
chris107: yes
Smon: Ahead of you the tunnel continues south, with a side tunnel to the west after 10', and a door in the west wall 50' beyond that.
Smon: Rey sneaks up to the intersection with the side tunnel, looks west, returns to you.
Smon: Rey: "Just another tunnel going back west. No salamanders."
Smon: He looks south down the main tunnel you're in with his goggles.
Smon: "Looks like this one turns west too, after 100' or so. Feels cooler that way - anyone else feel the breeze?"
chris107: Lets follow the cool...
Smon: There is a slight cool breeze, but it seems to be coming from both west side tunnel & south tunnel you're in.
Oculus Orbus: just like The Fonz!
Kjato Ragfoot: Continue south then.
chris107: Just like the Fonz
Smon: You head south, passing the door in the west wall after 50'.
Smon: Eventually the tunnel turns west.
Oculus Orbus: "I hope these tunnels end soon. I'm more of an.... outdoors kinda giff."
Smon: It winds along for a long way, snakelike, your footsteps echoing on the walls, eventually turning south again and widening to 20'.
Smon: This wide stretch runs 30', with a heavy door in the west wall. To the south an archway leads to a narrower tunnel running west.
chris107: Does it all seem to be flat?
Smon: From beyond the west door comes a low sound of humming.
Smon: The ground perhaps rises slightly to the south.
Oculus Orbus: "Up is good, right?"
Smon: Sounds like a creature humming, in a deep harsh voice - a salamander?
chris107: "I hope so Tug."
Oculus Orbus: "Rey, go find out what that is"
Kjato Ragfoot: Onward south. So far, everyone in this caves tried to kill us, so no sense in approaching anyone.
Smon: Rey looks to Thuruar, nods,
chris107: Hakeem looks a little disappointed that he hasn't killed anything in ages. But knows it's wise to get the girls out to safety.
Smon: You exit through the south arch into yet another long tunnel, running west and rising noticeablt.
Smon: It's fairly cool now.
Kjato Ragfoot: You killed a salamander king like 20 minutes ago!
Oculus Orbus: lol
chris107: Hakeem grins at the distant memory
Oculus Orbus: silly Hakeem
Smon: After a long way the tunnel turns north, passing a door in the east wall. Rey listens at the door.
Smon: /roll d20+10
Smon rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 7, (+10) = 17
Smon: Rey: "I hear fighting... No, practice fighting! A group of them."
Smon: To the north the tunnel turns west after 40', and you can feel a cool breeze.
Oculus Orbus: He is risen
Smon: >>Smon: Rey: "I hear fighting... No, practice fighting! A group of them." Smon: To the north the tunnel turns west after 40', and you can feel a cool breeze.<<
Smon: Rey: "Suggest we sneak past this door, unless you want to fight them Hakeem?"
chris107: "This looks like our way out!"
chris107: (No it's important to get the girls out)
Smon: You sneak past the door to the training room.
Kjato Ragfoot: We sneak past that door. Once we found the exit, we can return rested and fight everything we want.
Oculus Orbus: "You wanna come BACk to this?"
Kjato Ragfoot: No. But Hakeem might want to.
Smon: The tunnel turns west, joining another tunnel coming from the west, and noth open out onto a kind of landing chamber on the edge of a great chasm that extends up SW into the darkness.
Kjato Ragfoot: And Hakeem might actually find something worse to fight outside.
chris107: "There's loads of stuff to kill Tug!"
Smon: There is another door off the landing to the north, from which come sounds of training/fighting.
Oculus Orbus: "And to be killed by"
chris107: Still underground?
Smon: Two metal planks span fingers of the main fissure, allowing access to the west training room and south to a wide area from which one COULD attempt to climb up the rough wall of the fissure itself...
Smon: Yes, the fissure is pitch dark. It's normal temperature here.
chris107: How high does it go?
Smon: The ceiling right here is about 40' above you, but to the SW it opens up higher & higher, out of sight.
chris107: "Quite a way to fall...But it may get us back to the surface.."
Smon: Skilled climbers with light could probably navigate the fissure wall and climb out that way, but if you fall it looks a long way down.
Kjato Ragfoot: So, Rey with his googles might make it, the rest of us rather not.
Smon: There is very narrow, 1' wide ledge along the south wall of the fissure, extending up.
Smon: Rey: "I can try scouting it, but can I get healed first?"
Oculus Orbus: I don't think I can even fit on a 1' wide path
Kjato Ragfoot: Of course.
Smon: Rey whispers, looking at the north door from which come salamander grunts & the clang of steel.
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 2d8+10 and gets: 8, 7, (+10) = 25
Oculus Orbus: bravo!
chris107: 1 min, need to throw some more logs on the fire.
Smon: "Thanks". Rey also rummages through his pack and produces a potion of greater healing, he swigs it.
Smon: /roll 4d4+4
Smon rolls 4d4+4 and gets: 3, 1, 4, 3, (+4) = 15
Smon: Rey on 62/73.
Smon: He heads out onto the ledge and starts along it easily enough...
Smon: You waiting here?
Smon: Rey disappears out of sight, ascending the chasm.
chris107: back
Oculus Orbus: I am
Oculus Orbus: http://i.imgur.com/Fe8OFXn.png
Smon: ok, encounter check...
Smon: /roll d6
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. This seems to be the only room where we can wait without being cooked.
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 3,
Smon:
Smon: Time passes...
chris107: Yeah let Rey scout ahead then we can follow once we know what's up ahead.
Smon: /roll d20+9
Smon rolls 1d20+9 and gets: 19, (+9) = 28
Smon: /roll d20+9
Smon rolls 1d20+9 and gets: 9, (+9) = 18
chris107: Short rest then?
Oculus Orbus: And why not?
Smon: You have just completed a Short Rest when you see a happy but very tired Rey return!
Smon: OK, short rest can spend healing dice. Tug recovers second wind & action surge.
Oculus Orbus: whew!
Oculus Orbus: Shweet
chris107 rolls 5d12+25 and gets: 8, 3, 9, 3, 1, (+25) = 49
chris107: And recovers his one spent exhaustion point
Oculus Orbus: Do I need to heal up?
Smon: Rey: "It's pretty tricky, you have to jump in a couple places, but after 500' there's a spiral stairway going up. Made of wood & metal - looked dwarven, I went up a bit but it looks like it goes up hundreds of feet along the south side of the fissure."
chris107: 155/161HP
Smon: Tug is at 93/94 hp so I think you're ok, but you could spend a healing die to go to full.
Oculus Orbus: Nah, I'm good
Smon: Rey: "Going to be hard for Tug... But if the rest of us rope off, Hakeem can catch us if we fall, right?"
chris107: That sounds like where we want to be. Rope together?
Smon: Rey: "Great minds think alike!"
Smon: What order do you want to make the ascent in?
chris107: Hakeem at one end and the new Ogre strength Thur at the other?
Oculus Orbus: If I fall that means I'm taking you all with me. Maybe I should pass on the rope
Smon: Alicia: "You go last Tug, follow in our footsteps..."
Oculus Orbus: "Okie doke, doll"
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will cast "Enhance Ability: Cat's Grace" on Tug. That should give him the lightfoodedness he needs.
Smon: Rey: "I've done it twice already, I'll go first and point out stuff..."
chris107: Nice
Smon: Rey Hakeem Feani Alicia Laara Thuruar roped off, then Tug.
Oculus Orbus: "Thanks, Thur. Yer a prince!"
Smon: On a 20 the salamanders arrive while you're roping off...
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 13,
Smon: Nope, but the sounds of fighting are dying down, they could be about to take a lunch break.
Oculus Orbus: I got caught roping off once when I was young. Talk about embarrassing!
chris107: hehe
Kjato Ragfoot: For all I care the salamanders can take a swim in a seething pool, as long as they leave us alone.
Oculus Orbus: "And how!"
Smon: You begin the ascent...
Smon: OK, will be doing Athletics or Acrobatics checks in order down the line. DC 11 for Rey, he needs 2+ on die:
Oculus Orbus: "Good luck, guys"
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 11,
Smon: DC 13 for Hakeem, as Rey points out the best ways to go.
Smon: Hakeem roll athletics.
chris107 rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 9, (+10) = 19
Oculus Orbus: eep!
Smon: I'll let Feani use her Survival skill...
Smon: /roll d20+6
Smon rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 7, (+6) = 13
Smon: A chunk of ledge breaks off beneath her foot, but she catches herself just in time!
Smon: Alicia, not the most athletic...
chris107: phew
Smon: /roll d20+1
Smon rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 15, (+1) = 16
Smon: Wow!
Smon: Alicia grins as she navigates a tricky bit with surprising ease.
Smon: Laara:
Smon: /roll d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 18, (+4) = 22
Smon: Made it!
Smon: Thuruar's go.
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 9, (+4) = 13
chris107: Yay!
Smon: Thuruar struggles, but again makes it.
chris107: Close!
Smon: The coffle of climbers look back to see Tug, alone and unroped, trying to climb along, body pressed to the cliff face...
Smon: DC 16 for Tug.
Oculus Orbus: Tug waves
Smon: If he falls it's a long way down, and no one to save him.
chris107: "C'mon Tug! You can make it!"
Oculus Orbus: is Remarkable Athlete added in?
Smon: Alicia blows him a kiss,
Smon: Yes
Smon: +5 STR +4 Prof +2 Athlete = +11
Oculus Orbus: so +5?
Oculus Orbus: assuming a Dex roll
Oculus Orbus: oh!
Oculus Orbus rolls 1d20+11 and gets: 11, (+11) = 22
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will bless Tug with a guidance, +1d4 on roll.
Smon: You can make STR (Athletics) roll.
chris107: Have I just dropped connection?
Smon: What does Cat's Grace give him?
Smon: You're there chris
Oculus Orbus: you're here, Chris
chris107: Yay! Well done Tug!
Kjato Ragfoot: Advantage on DEX checks
chris107: Thanks.
Smon: OK Tug, roll d20 twice take best result, and add a d4 if still too low.
Oculus Orbus rolls 1d20+11 and gets: 15, (+11) = 26
Oculus Orbus rolls 1d20+11 and gets: 2, (+11) = 13
Smon: 2nd die would have spelt doom for Tug, but blessed by Athena he joins the rest of you at the base of the ancient dwarven stairs...
Oculus Orbus: actually, it's +6 for STR DEX or CON checks
chris107: Phew!
Oculus Orbus: but I made it!
Oculus Orbus: Wheeeee!
chris107: Yay!
Smon: (I houserule that you can add Remarkable Athlete to Proficiency bonus & stack them) Hakeem & Thuruar make INT checks.
Oculus Orbus:
chris107 rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 9, (+5) = 14
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20 and gets: 14,
chris107: +5 for prof right?
Smon: The stairway winds upwards for hundreds of feet. On the way you have time to think... Thuruar recalls chatter from the Elves of Anatal, among whom you stayed, of a lost dwarf temple in these parts...
chris107: Hakeem is not good on memory
Oculus Orbus: he only has 24k of RAM
chris107: The staircase looked dwarven. Did the rest of the stuff? 15' thrones and all?
Smon: After an ascent of 650' the stairway comes out into the ruins of an ancient dwarf hall, split by the fissure. Someone has placed a plank across the fissure from the south side, where you are, to the north, where a tunnel leads off.
Smon: Feani looks around: "The Halls of Beol-Dur...."
chris107: Ah
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. We wanted to visit the elves and ended up with the dwarves. Ah well.
Smon: Looking around, you see a glimmer of daylight above you to the south-west!
Oculus Orbus: "Finally!"
Smon: Feani: "A way out! But the fissure wall there is almost sheer..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Most likely, the dwarfs had a proper way in and out of their temple. We just need to find it.
Smon: Alicia: "Wait! I think I levelled up in that short rest..."
chris107: Good for Alicia
Smon: She takes a step off the ledge, out into space, then starts to float up!
Smon: Alicia: "I can fly!"
chris107: Oooooooooo
Smon: Rey: "Quick, chuck her a rope!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Impressive!
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will chuck her a rope.
Oculus Orbus: chuck
Smon: Alicia grabs the rope end and flies upwards.
Smon: A few minutes later she returns, looking grimy but happy.
Oculus Orbus: brb
Smon: She has tied the rope off. "About a hundred feet up there's a hole that leads out onto a mountainside. It's still daylight out there. I tied the rope off halfway up. I might be able to carry light people up there, though...
Smon: Rey: "I volunteer!"
Smon: Rey embraces Alicia and she starts to ascend slowly, clearly struggling with his weight.
Kjato Ragfoot: Then bring Laara, Feani and Rey up.
Smon: Feani: "Thuruar, you can't cast Air Walk can you?"
Oculus Orbus: back
Smon: GM: To cut a long story short, Alicia brings Rey Laara & Feani up through the hole; they tie several ropes together and anchor them outside the hole so that hopefully Hakeem & Tug & Thuruar can climb out.
Smon: Rey calls down from high above you: "Come on up guys! Lovely out here! Mmm, sunshine!"
chris107: Yay! We escape. Again!
Kjato Ragfoot: (No, I do not think so)
Smon: Who wants to try the rope first?
Oculus Orbus: uh oh
Oculus Orbus: I better go last
Smon: yup!
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will go first.
Smon: Thuruar Athletics check, DC 15+ to succeed, you fall on 10 or less.
Kjato Ragfoot: In that case, I will guide myself first.
Smon: ok
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 14, (+5) = 19
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d4 and gets: 1,
Smon: Thuruar climbs up, emerging into afternoon sunlight on a west facing mountain slope overlooking the vast sweep of western Altanis.
chris107: Hakeem better try I suppose.
chris107: What modifiers do I use please Simon?
Smon: Far to the west he can just see the Hall of the Laer's fortress, and to the southwest 20 miles off the glimmer of Anatal...
Smon: Athletics so STR + Prof
chris107 rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 6, (+10) = 16
chris107: Just!
chris107:
Smon: +5 & +5, you make it fine, can't actually fall.
Smon: At worst you get stuck for a bit.
Smon:
chris107: "So close to Anatal!"
Smon: OK, Tug... are you going to trust in the rope, or mostly use the wall?
Smon: Rope is 15/10, if a knot doesn't give way on you...
Oculus Orbus: well, let's see...
Smon: Wall is 18/13.
Oculus Orbus: what does that mean?
Smon: You can try to assess the rope.
Smon: The climb DC is easier if you use the rope.
Oculus Orbus: rope it is!
Smon: OK, you start climbing...
Oculus Orbus rolls 1d20+13 and gets: 10, (+13) = 23
Smon: Tug climbs expertly... 2 in 6 chance the rope gives way...
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 4,
Smon: Yaay!
chris107: Hurrah!
Oculus Orbus: Huzzah!
Smon: Tug reaches the hole, awfully small for a Giff... shouldn't have had that second helping last night...
Oculus Orbus: (Tug gives Hakeem a big kiss on the mouth)
Smon: To squeeze through, DC 10 DEX (acrobatics) check.
Oculus Orbus: heh
Smon: Otherwise you're stuck.
Oculus Orbus rolls 1d20+13 and gets: 6, (+13) = 19
chris107: "We escape and all still alive. Let's away to
chris107: Anatal!"
Oculus Orbus:
chris107: That's good (I think) OCCLES
Smon: Tug gets through (+3 DEX +4 Prof +2 athlete = +9 BTW)
Oculus Orbus:
Oculus Orbus: oops
Smon: GM: You start down the mountain slope towards Anatal.
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. Let's return to Anatal. It will be nice to return to civilized areas.
Smon: You reach the tree line a little before nightfall and can set camp in forested hills.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 3,
chris107: "And Feani can go home. Thanks to Athena's blessings."
Smon: The night passes peacefully.
Smon: Next morning you continue south into an area of well-tended woodland where you are swiftly met by an elven patrol. The leader, a tall pale elf in shining mithril, hails you.
Smon: "Hail!"
Oculus Orbus: "Hi, there!"
chris107: Mithril
Kjato Ragfoot: "Hail".
chris107: "Hello!"
Oculus Orbus: (Tug gives Hakeem a big kiss on the mouth again)
chris107: Ewwww
chris107: "Stop that you big oaf!"
Smon: He scans you. "Hakeem! Thuruar! Feani! You are most welcome." His gaze settles on Tug. "Err..."
Oculus Orbus: "It's how us Giffs show appreciation"
Smon: "High Priestess Cerdai sensed a Disturbance in the Flux... Your mission to destroy the Black Sun was successful?"
chris107: "Well show it to someone else!"
Kjato Ragfoot: The Black Sun probably still exists, but we slew Morthor Coff and closed the Portal.
Smon: He beams happily. "Excellent news! Come, let me escort you to the City! The Queen must hear of this!"
Oculus Orbus: "Okay"
Smon: GM: OK, think I'll stop there.
Smon: Sorry you missed the fight Oc.
Oculus Orbus: The Flux is strong with this one.
chris107: Thanks Simon! Cheers guys
Kjato Ragfoot: Huh. We did it!
Oculus Orbus: Ah, well. Ya win some, ya lose some.
Smon: I was surprised you didn't lose anyone to the chasm.
Oculus Orbus: CHRIS! don't go yet
Oculus Orbus: Indeed!
Kjato Ragfoot: We were well prepared!
chris107: Okay
Oculus Orbus: (xxvc)
chris107: Reading through the last session log I'm amazed we didn't loose anyone to the salamander king!
Oculus Orbus: (if you dare)
Oculus Orbus: We lost you
Oculus Orbus: but then we found you
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. That was tough.
Smon: Was looking like a TPK alright.
chris107: Thurs spell giving him the lurgi was great!
Oculus Orbus: what's a lurgi?
Smon: But Thuruar could have just cast that Slimy Doom spell last session & saved you the worry.
chris107: A horrid kind of disease
Smon: (posted log)
chris107: Good game
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, I was not sure it would actually work against the Salamanders.
Oculus Orbus: sounds icky
Oculus Orbus: salamanders are the worst!
Kjato Ragfoot: We shall drop a big iceberg on top of that volcano.
Smon: Their only immunity is to fire.
chris107: Yeah a tough bunch.
Oculus Orbus: I like the sound of that
Kjato Ragfoot: And, if they come out to complain, we throw snowballs.
chris107: We have lots of dungeons to explore
chris107: From Thracia, Dyson's Delve and now a Dwarf Temple with a Salamander cellar
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah!
Oculus Orbus: the ol' salamander-in-the-cellar trick
Kjato Ragfoot: And there should be somewhere a big catacomb with a mummy-lich and its skeletons between elves and dwarfs.
chris107:
Oculus Orbus: OKAY!
Kjato Ragfoot: Nonetheless, that volcano would make a good lair for a priest of Hephaistos.
chris107: It would indeed.
Smon: On the way to Anatal the elves tell you it was a dwarf temple, in fact the dwarves once asked the elves to help recapture it from the fire monsters that had seized it.
Smon: The elves declined since that seemed a suicide mission.
chris107: Mmmm maybe a bargaining chip to get the princess back?
chris107: We clear the temple for the dwarves (and loot it) they give back the elf princess?
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh, yes. What about the princess?
Kjato Ragfoot: Maybe she is already home?
Oculus Orbus: Wait, didn't we kill the slamander's king?
Smon: Yup
Smon: The elf captain, Mithradain, is very interested to hear this (pic -https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/73/f9/3e/73f93e38a9b8ee4912dcb99b9f22622c.jpg )
Smon: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/73/f9/3e/73f93e38a9b8ee4912dcb99b9f22622c.jpg
Oculus Orbus: That should cause some disarray there
Kjato Ragfoot: That does not mean the salamanders are going to leave. Maybe they had a counseler that wanted to become king instead of the king?
Oculus Orbus: might be a good time for an all-out assault
Smon: "The dwarves hate the salamanders... have you proof you slew their king?"
chris107: Nice pic
Kjato Ragfoot: That is true.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. WE should have taken the crown, maybe?
chris107: Yes, maybe that will be enough?
chris107: Either way. Great magical item for Thur
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. Did we manage to get the brazier out of the temple or did we have to leave it behind at the fissure?
Smon: Tug had to leave it, he couldn't have climbed out with it.
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah. A pity. No, then we have no proof the salamander king was slain.
Oculus Orbus:
chris107: We have his gauntlets
Oculus Orbus: Word will get out
chris107: the designs of which open the doors
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. That is true. But will the dwarfs be able to identify them?
chris107: I bet they were originally dwarven artefacts.
Kjato Ragfoot: Regardless, in that case we should consider returning to the temple once we spoke with the queen.
Kjato Ragfoot: After all, we saved several days due to the efreet.
Smon: Mithradain inspects the gauntlets. "There is a royal signet ring on this gauntlet! That might suffice. May I take it? If we gift them it, say our agents slew the salamander king, and request our princess's return..."
Smon: @Kjato yes you are well ahead of schedule to meet Sarene at Zothay in a month.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh well.
chris107: "Just the ring, not the gauntlets?"
Smon: GM: You can remove the ring from the gauntlet ring-finger.
Smon: The ring that opened the throneroom rear door.
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah!

Session 62 14/5/4446 Treacherous Efreet, Kingdom of the Salamanders

Smon: OK ready.
chris107:
Oculus Orbus: If you get a chance to see a new tv show called The Expanse, you should do that. It's a lot like the XXVc setting
Smon: GM: You set camp east of the river. Rey: "Oooh! Lets all get into our sacks, and tickle our fancies!" "...Or did I get the wrong 'camp'?"
Oculus Orbus: Rags watches it, I believe
Oculus Orbus: heh heh
chris107: H keeps watch
chris107: at least to start
Oculus Orbus: is Tug along?
Smon: GM: The night passes peacefully, no sign of Terror the silver dragon that flew off in a huff.
chris107: Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Smon: (Bill is here though - his Madrid trip got cancelled).
chris107:
Oculus Orbus: aww, poor li'l guy
Kjato Ragfoot: Poor Bill.
chris107: OOC - Kjato lead us on
chris107: Hi Bill
Smon: He got flu too.
chris107: eek
Smon: Getting better now though.
Oculus Orbus: oh dear
Smon: He would log on but he's scoffing lemon drizzle cake.
chris107: I cancelled my Istanbul trip to play D&D with my chums
Oculus Orbus: Constantinople?
chris107: yup
Smon:
chris107: Can we kill something please?
Kjato Ragfoot: Right now, we should sleep. We are rather battered from the Marids.
Smon: The dawn comes up red to the south east over distant mount Chacban, home of the dwarves you love so well.
Smon: You have had a long rest.
Oculus Orbus: MArids are a kind of genie, correct?
chris107: HP's ?
Oculus Orbus: FULL HP
Oculus Orbus:
Oculus Orbus: Tug wakes with a monstrous yawn
chris107: Bugger! These are the worst interior designers ever!
Oculus Orbus: "I gotta go drain the pool. Back in a few minutes" Tug wanders off to the nearest big rock to whizz on.
Kjato Ragfoot: Chris: We can roll Hit Dice to regain HP
Smon: Hakeem was on 115/149, can recover 11/hd spent.
Smon: Or roll d12+5
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 2d8+4 and gets: 4, 6, (+4) = 14
chris107: 2HD please
chris107 rolls 2d12+10 and gets: 10, 11, (+10) = 31
Smon: nice
chris107: 146/149
Smon: 146 yup
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 2d8+2 and gets: 7, 6, (+2) = 15
chris107: Hehe Marlow
chris107: Nice
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar 76/80
Kjato Ragfoot: 7 Healing Dice left
Smon: I have Rey at full with 4/10 surges.
Smon: dice I mean.
Smon: They were surges in 4e.
Oculus Orbus: I should be full HP, right?
Smon: Yeah, we'll say Tug is on full.
Smon: He got a few scratches fighting a water elemental, patched up now.
Oculus Orbus: I did what now?
Kjato Ragfoot: You danced a waltz with a water elemental while Thuruar and Hakeem had a slight quarrel with their Marid boyfriends.
Smon: You're on the east bank of the Greyrush River, where crossing it last evening you battled 2 Marids & their water elementals.
Oculus Orbus: oh dear
Smon: After the fight Terror the dragon was told to stop chasing the surviving surrendered Marid, he got angry & flew off.
Oculus Orbus: Well, I hope we sent those bums packin'
Smon: (Bill sends his apologies he really wants to play but computer isn't connecting to Internet)
Oculus Orbus: Dragons. What can ya do?
chris107:
Oculus Orbus: computer got the flu, too?
Oculus Orbus: KILL!
chris107: KILL!
Oculus Orbus: Hakeem, buddy! You're lookin fit.
Smon: Feani reckons you must be due west of the Goblin realm of Kukul. Jungle stretches off on all sides.
chris107: H lets Thur lead the way
Kjato Ragfoot: We should see to return to the elf realm. That means going east, through the goblin realm.
Oculus Orbus: "Gobblin' what?"
Smon: Feani nods. "Let's head east. When we hit the road I'll have a better idea where we are."
Kjato Ragfoot: "Do not worry, with some luck, we will not see any."
Smon: GM: You eventually break camp and set off into the forest...
Smon: Hakeem make a Survival (WIS +Prof) check.
Smon: You get a bonus as an Altanian AIR.
Oculus Orbus: "I'll gobble whatever ya got. I'm starvin'"
Oculus Orbus: AIR?
Smon: as I recall.
chris107 rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 12, (+4) = 16
Smon: One of those new-fangled Internet neologisms m'lud.
chris107: =5 -1
chris107: oh so +2 too
chris107: 18
Smon: Aided by Feani, Hakeem keeps the group heading east through the long day.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 5,
Smon: /roll d3
Smon rolls 1d3 and gets: 2
Smon: Dusk is falling when you come out on a rise overlooking the ancient raised highway where you first slew the T-Rex/Z-Rex.
Oculus Orbus: Hakeem keeps pushing his duties off on Thur
chris107:
Smon: Feani: "I reckon we're a few miles north of Kukul."
chris107: Hakeem just KILLS.
Oculus Orbus: "What the heck happened here? Looks like a slaughterhouse blew up"
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. There was a big lizard that thundered along and killed plenty orcs.
Smon: You soon spot the tattered remnants of the orc patrol, now scattered by scavengers. Camping here, attacking Kukul, etc?
chris107: grrrrr
Smon: Feani: "The faerie grotto was near here - but I doubt we'll find it unless they want us to..."
chris107: computer really slow
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, we do not want to attack Kukul. We just want to kill Moroth's governnor and then run away, while the goblins plunder and celebrate, eating all the tribute for Nerath.
7:43pm  2016-2-17 DESTROYERBILL Has entered the room
Smon: Hi Bill!
Oculus Orbus: "What't a kukul?"
Oculus Orbus: *What's
chris107: DESTROYERBILL!
Oculus Orbus: Yay, Bill!
Kjato Ragfoot: Kukul is a city. Probably also some idol the goblins worship, too.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello Bill
Smon: Suddenly you see a fiery cloud approaching from the west, out of the setting sun! It skims over the treetops towards you...
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's continue on our way toward the elves. We still have plenty loot to sell and Feani to return.
Oculus Orbus: "Okay, let's get t' where we need ta be without no fuss"
Smon: The cloud descends rapidly, landing on the highway just ahead!
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. It seems Hakeem gets to kill something. IF he can jump high enough.
chris107: Hakeem growls and draws Bloodleter
Smon: There is a fiery flash and an enormous red-skinned, horned humanoid stands there, wielding a massive scimitar.
chris107: HACK-HACK-HACK!
Kjato Ragfoot: That probably is Kukul.
chris107: Rage! Berserk
DESTROYERBILL: hello im a efrete thanks for killing those things \ its me /

Smon: The Efreet points back towards where you fought the Marids, smiling happily.
Oculus Orbus: Terror, ya big nut!
chris107: eek
Smon: Alicia Scarnetti mutters: "Things are a lot stranger here than down south..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Probably side effects of the Dark Sun gate.
Smon: Alicia: "If you say so, Thuruar."
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, I used to live even further north and have never met so many elementals in such short notice before.
Smon: The Efreet's expression does remind Tug a bit of Terror, but it's a different creature, being man-shaped, though much larger.
Smon: Feani looks warily at the Efreet. "Er... hello."
DESTROYERBILL: hello
Oculus Orbus: Oh, I thought Terror said "it's me" but I see it now
DESTROYERBILL: hello#
chris107: Hakeem looks lost

chris107: Yorkshire home not Bath home
Smon: Alicia: "Don't teleport us inside the volcano, ok? Just to the rim?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Well. Let's do that.
8:03pm  2016-2-17 chris107 Has exited the room
Kjato Ragfoot: Please teleport us near the volcano.

Smon: You are all disoriented by a lurching sensation.

Oculus Orbus: "What the-"
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, it seems the Efreet likes you!
Oculus Orbus: heh heh
8:08pm  2016-2-17 Amalric Has entered the room
Smon: The Salamanders glare at the Efreet, lowering their tridents. "You! Inferno the Efreet! These Halls are ours now! Begone!"
Smon: Hi Graham.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello Graham
Oculus Orbus: Big G!
Smon: The group travelled east in the jungle, met an Efreet, asked to be teleported to a ledge beside a volcano... he complied.
Kjato Ragfoot: We will be directly on our way, just point us toward the exit near the jungle and we are out of your hair.
Amalric: evening, sorry I'm late, the Great Eastern Crusade against technology in our house kicked off again
DESTROYERBILL: no
Amalric: wife is a pain in the behind sometimes, but at least she picked on our eldest tonight instead!

Smon: Rey's go.

Amalric: haha!
Oculus Orbus: haha
Smon: Hakeem can climb out using the rope held by Tug.
Chris107: Yay!
Amalric: Rey ponders shoving Tug in too
Oculus Orbus: ?
Amalric: then remembers he's not evil, and these guys are on his side
Oculus Orbus: !
Amalric: wrong campaign
Chris107: H clambers up if he can?
Kjato Ragfoot: (Not to mention that, if Rey tried to shove Tug, it would probably result in Rey bouncing back)
Oculus Orbus: yeah, that's a lot of Giff meat to move
Amalric: (and that, Kjato!)
Smon: Hakeem scrambles back up onto the ledge/chamber.
Oculus Orbus: woo hoo!
Smon: While you catch your breath a moment, Thuruar completes the Banishment.
Amalric: "Did you take any bread down there with you, H? I havent eaten a nice piece of toast in ages."
Smon: Seems you may be in luck - no sign of more salamanders - yet.
Oculus Orbus: (Tug gently pats out Hakeem's burning biscuits)
Smon: Alicia wipes soot from her brow. "I'm going to KILL that bloody Efreet!"
Oculus Orbus: "Yeah, that wuz a rotten thing ta do to a guy"
Kjato Ragfoot: "Indeed. We should summon him into the palace of the ice queen or something nefarious like that."
Oculus Orbus: or KILL HIM!
Smon: You notice that the dead salamander has a back quiver with 4 jagged-tipped javelins.
Oculus Orbus: "Let's us get the heck away from this here cliff, yeah?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Good idea, but plunder the salamander first.
Smon: You move away from the ledge, into the chamber with its single basalt door in the opposite wall.
Kjato Ragfoot: Can we take the javelins along?
Smon: Feani shudders: "I fear the treacherous Efreet has left us deep inside the volcano wall..."
Smon: Thuruar checks out the javelins - the heads are stylised lightning strikes.
Smon: Thuruar can take them.
8:52pm  2016-2-17 Smon Has exited the room
Oculus Orbus: "Only one way to find out. Let's get movin"
Kjato Ragfoot: Indeed.
Oculus Orbus: I assume Hak need some healing
Kjato Ragfoot: Tug, take those javelins with you in case the magic in your wand depletes.
8:52pm  2016-2-17 Smon Has entered the room
Smon: Is Tug taking the javelins?
Oculus Orbus: "Oh, uh... this ain't, uh... right."
Smon: (I can play to 10pm BTW)
Oculus Orbus: yes
Smon: OK, 4 javelins of lightning.
Smon: Tug takes the javelins then pushes open the heavy door.
Oculus Orbus: "Not my weapon o' choice, but it'll do in a pinch, I reckon"
Smon: It opens into a 10' wide tunnel winding south, lit by a dim red eldritch glow.
Oculus Orbus: Anybody wanna scout ahead?
Amalric: no?
Smon: You follow the tunnel south some 90' until it ends at a second basalt door, this one etched with runes in the fiery Ignal tongue.
Smon: Can anyone read the Ignan language?
Oculus Orbus: "Ahh, one o' you might wanna have a look at this"
Amalric: is that Rey's bedchamber?
Kjato Ragfoot: It probably says "Runes of Fire" and explodes if you read it.
Oculus Orbus: "Good thing I can't read it, then"
Smon: Looks like it opens inwards, there is a large knob.
Amalric: "I can't read it....not from here. Or anywhere."
Amalric: that's Tug
Amalric:
Oculus Orbus: "I got yer knob right here"
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will cast "Resistance" on whoever is willing to open the door.
Amalric: "Go try it then, Nobby."
Amalric: "Big lunk like you, whats the worst that could happen?"
Oculus Orbus: "Fine, I'll give it a go"
Smon: The door grinds open, revealing a large, ornately decorated bedchamber wreathed in greenish incense.
Oculus Orbus: (Chris, are you still here?)
Oculus Orbus: "Bedroom. And it stinks"
Amalric: "Definitely mine."
Smon: The bed is a huge marble slab in the southwest corner, on which lies an enormous salamander, twice the size of the guards, contentedly breathing in the green smoke from a brazier.
Smon: There is another door to your right, at the west end of the north wall.
Oculus Orbus: "Thur, waddya say?"
Smon: I'll say Rey & Tug are in front and have Surprised the Salamander King - it turns blearily in their direction, an iron crown askew on its great orangey pate.
Smon: "WHU...?!"
Amalric: Attack!!
Smon: Rey & Tug can do attacks now if they want.
Kjato Ragfoot: I would say we go through the door once we killed that salamander.

Oculus Orbus: aw, nuts

Smon: It's looking ropey - Rey's turn.
Smon: The Salamander King is rising up - it must be 20' long, massively muscled, its trident alone a good 12'...
Oculus Orbus:
Smon: Rey can try to finish the wounded one, or flee before the King reaches him?
Smon: Or attack then flee past Thuruar?
Smon: Or charge the King?
Smon: Guess Graham is afk.

Smon: AC 15 - miss.
Oculus Orbus: brb

Smon: Say 10' from Tug.
Smon: Thuruar's go.
Kjato Ragfoot: Banishment on the Salamander king. (That means the other salamander returns next round).
Smon: Except you'll let the guard back if you banish the king... oops.

Smon: Shall we stop there before I TPK you and see if Chris is back next week?
Kjato Ragfoot: Has Alicia any magic missiles left to kill the ropey guard?
Amalric: yes please
Oculus Orbus: yes
Smon: Alicia & Feani are snoring in the corridor, overcome by the sleep-smoke.
Oculus Orbus: http://taxidermicowlbear.weebly.com/uploads/2/3/7/4/23742956/5562773_orig.jpg
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes.
Amalric: we had a TPK in Runelords when one member (me) was absent/late, lets not do it again
Smon: OK let's stop now.
Smon: BTW I had no idea you'd end up in this dungeon this week.
Smon: I suggested Bill play a nice Unicorn, but he wanted to be an Efreet.
Oculus Orbus: Thank Bill for us, will you?
Smon: I'll tell him how grateful you are.
Oculus Orbus: ha
Amalric: if you want to wake him up during the night while wearing a hockey mask and wielding a chainsaw, be my guest
Smon:
Smon: Just now getting him to bed he tried to sleep walk out the front door thinking it was his bedroom.
Kjato Ragfoot: Bill is probably to young to understand that costume and simply mumble "daddy, it is to dark to play hockey."
Smon: Luckily failed.
Smon: He's totally zonked out, nothing would register.
Smon: OK I'll post log.
