Smon: If you investigate, well the Barbarians might reach there if they left the others.
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. The barbarians investigate and the others press one!
Amalric: to Cahli it is then?
chris107: Then we must press on. can't have Laara put at risk.
chris107: yeah, I think it best
Amalric: Rey thanks for your concern
chris107: As much as Hakeem would love to investigate another dungeon.
Amalric: never found one he didn't like!
Smon: GM: Leaving the badlands around Tizun's volcano behind, you continue north, the hills leading down into the coastal woodlands along the Cedarwade.
Smon: Towards evening you hit the coast road that runs west towards Cahli.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
chris107: (OOC it's only taken me 36 years to finally get to cahli )
Smon: You reach the riverside village just before nightfall.
Smon: The village Inn is quite packed with travellers tonight. The Innkeeper is putting up the steel blinds that keep out the marauding Night Things as you order drinks and book a room.
Kjato Ragfoot: (What does room, food and drink for the group cost?)
Smon: (3gp) As a serving woman brings your drinks, Rey spots a familiar pair - of travellers - across the room. "Rey!" calls out the well developed young lass sitting by her bearded father - the trader Gluck Goodkind & his daughter Kym.
Smon: Gluck - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSt1X1QeQskVxlo2Pj_2LGWl90LOOpibEFEYVIf0Sd4XBdsX3sDy84LC8DucsbZkf45-9IEfTzGGzJi1JjcCO7tPtipKg7nDLULp0JUYxo8rKRzITtLumQOMY2DNbXuKJCIud4Sa0Fap4/s320/01+Gluck+Goodkind.jpg
chris107:
Smon: Kim - wearing slightly more right now - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS9PI-HFyNieHLf5sH0DE7AHr2pOd6hZ1rk-wSFzkm657hCF0Sx9J1Bc5sZ5fkuVosjRH70zUyyFj1L1Zr4echehWToqR49M9j_1EoEkIE87AMcF3Hoj_redGREkLGpXvHQEbJ4eryd4w/s320/02+Kym+Goodkind.jpg
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. Thuruar will pay from the group's war chest)
Amalric: "Gluck! Good to see you again, good sir! And you Kim, you are looking...lovely."
chris107:
Smon: Kim smiles coquettishly. Gluck nods, smiling too & hefting a beer.
Amalric: the night is already looking up for Rey
Smon: Gluck: "Where are you headed, my friends?"
Smon: (OOC Bill has gone off to watch Minecraft videos)
Amalric: (where are we headed?)
chris107: We are heading to save a princess
Smon: Gluck and Kim stand and come over to join you at the larger table.
Smon: Kim: "A princess?!"
chris107: "Yup."
Amalric: "Its what we do, good honest noble deeds."
Smon: Gluck: "Well, long as you steer clear of Mara... A whole passel of those Nerathi folks arrived there two days back, just afore we left."
chris107: hehe
Smon: Kim: "You're so brave, Rey!" she says, wide-eyed.
chris107:
chris107: "How many Gluck? What kind of folks?"
Smon: Gluck: "They weren't in good humour, neither - I heard a rumour they got their arses whipped by Gnomes!"
Kjato Ragfoot: When Thuruar hears that, he starts laughing out very loud.
Kjato Ragfoot: Spilling beer all over the table.
chris107: "hahah! Then not the kind of folks we need to worry about."
Smon: "Five hundred, maybe - not all of 'em living men, I reckon. But not the thousands went through there before."
Kjato Ragfoot: And then coughs for a time to get the beer out of his throat.
chris107: "Mmmmm five hundred? That should make for a fair fight!."
Smon: "Their High Prince was with 'em, and his sister... and a Necromancer, scary guy. He was commandin' the dead ones I reckon."
Amalric: LOL
chris107: "Crowfinger?"
Smon: Kim gives Thuruar a sympathetic smack on his back to ease the coughing.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 6,
Kjato Ragfoot: Thank you dear.
Smon: Gluck shrugs. "Can't say. One of 'em Nerathi Necromancers."
Smon: Kim smiles at Thuruar: "You're welcome."
Smon: Gluck: "So, how's things in the Ghinarian Hills? We been away a couple weeks."
chris107: "What do you think Thur? Still on to Mara? There's only five hundred of them."
8:51pm 2016-3-02 Smon Has exited the room
Amalric: Rey gives Kim a sympathetic squeeze of her thigh
8:51pm 2016-3-02 Smon Has entered the room
Kjato Ragfoot: "Well, we wanted to win the Nerathi as allies against Yusan. That will be difficult if you slaughter them first, unless you learned the dark arts recently."
chris107: H looks sulky
8:52pm 2016-3-02 DESTROYERBILL Has exited the room
Smon: Kim giggles at Rey's squeeze. Laara: "We could cross the river downstream of Mara - maybe go to the Castle of the Wode, where the good Nerathi are?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. That sounds like a good idea.
Smon: Map - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFCG1oAJwFOGbYkrEhYfj7jyzNTItL8vU8Etg7GEL2k71t9JAdxmXtb2jaHPeBMkcFyRj6t8yAGmJZYSTVSYMhTBk3BGcmcryUF37ffHzHc3D-8mtvfu90vGJfbwdPM2o1JhOAvGIduHA/s640/Ghinarian+Hills.jpg
Kjato Ragfoot: But we should be careful not to run into the other fleeing Nerathi army.
Smon: Laara: "Then I can rejoin the Greywolf and you decide what to do..."
chris107: "Maybe the rangers will come with us to sack..erm save Mara?"
Smon: Gluck: "The Fairhills is a broad river - can you cross it in armour, friends?"
Smon: OOC he doesn't know about Thuruar's holy power yet.
Smon: GM: You drink & chat. Rey you can make your Persuasion check.
Kjato Ragfoot: I am sure Athena will grant us a save crossing of the river, in her grace.
Smon: Gluck nods to Thuruar. "Aye."
Smon: Eventually it's time to retire.
Smon: Apparently Rey is distracted tonight...
Smon: brb
Amalric rolls 1d20+11 and gets: 8, (+11) = 19
chris107: H goes to bed happy that we will be back in action soon.
Amalric: meh
Amalric: might be good enough
chris107: meh
Smon: Since Kim is already a fan...
chris107: 2 mins, quick ciggie
Smon: Kim whispers to Rey: "My door will be unlocked... number 3."
Amalric: Rey smiles and nods
Smon: You retire for a night of peaceful rest and sweet dreams...
Amalric: speak for yourself!
Kjato Ragfoot: (Except for Rey?)
Smon: Untroubled by the horrors that lurk in the woods beyond Cahli.
Smon: Rey's rest is a little more energetic than most, though...
Smon: Luckily, old Gluck is a sound sleeper.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
chris107: back
chris107: Cripes Simon, you are back in business
Smon: As Rey lies with Kim's naked sleeping body in his arms after several hours of vigorous lovemaking, he sees a tiny chink of moonlit slip throug a gap in the steel shutters of the bedroom.
Amalric: what now?
Smon: From the shutters, he hears a light scratching sound, like a knife drawn across the metal.
Amalric: Rey gets up and makes sure the shutters are tightly closed
chris107: Another women desperate to get at him no doubt?
Smon: The scratching comes again. The shutters are locked from the inside, iron rods pushed into holes in the sill.
Kjato Ragfoot: (It is Alicia who finally became jealous)
Smon: (Alicia is resting her poor feet - and other parts - back in Thusia.)
Smon: Suddenly a shadow falls across the moonlight, blocking it out. The window is 15' above ground level.
Amalric: Rey gets his rapier and dagger, ready to stab anything trying to get through
chris107: Kill it Rey!
Smon: Is Rey touching the shutters, or just visually inspecting them?
Amalric: just visual
Smon: The... thing... must be right outside. The gap in the shutters seems wider now, almost a small fingertip-width.
Kjato Ragfoot: (Stuff garlic into the gap, that should keep the vampire out)
Smon: Something ebon-black, like the tip of a claw is working its way into the gap!
Amalric: Rey thrusts his dagger through the slot, and commands it to shed light!
chris107: eek
Smon: Rey stabs at the finger through the gap... roll to hit.
chris107: Sounds bad
chris107: KILL IT REY!
Amalric: cliffhanger!
Amalric rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 18, (+10) = 28
Amalric:
Amalric: Rey stabs everything while he's naked in the dark
Amalric rolls 1d4+1 and gets: 4, (+1) = 5
chris107:
Smon: The finger pulls back - leaving a tiny severed claw tip lying on the floor!
Smon: OOC AC 27, well done.
Amalric: yay!!
chris107: ewww
Amalric: Rey watches it to see if it regenerates
Amalric: if it bleeds poison, etc
Smon: It just lies there. It looks like stone.
Smon: No blood at all.
Smon: Kim stirs in her sleep. "Mmm... Rey..."
chris107: Nasty
Amalric: Rey puts it in a pocket for later
Amalric: "Just in time, dear Kim...I have a second wind. Brace yourself..."
Smon: Rey picks it up - it's very cold to the touch - and realises he's short of pockets.
Smon: Kim smiles sleepily, reaching for him - ~fade to black~
Amalric: his clothes must be somewhere in here
Amalric: good enough
Smon: Next morning you assemble downstairs, Rey a little groggy from lack of sleep.
Amalric: no change there
Smon: Gluck is up early feeding his draft oxen - Kim appears to be sleeping late.
Smon: Kim is not the quietest of lovemakers, and several inn patrons cast Rey a curious glance as you breakfast.
Amalric: "I can go check on her...?"
chris107: Hakeem gets stuck into a ful English.
Amalric: excellent! haha!
Smon: Laara tucks into her porridge. "Mmm..."
chris107: Preparing himself for the slaying of the 500.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar remembers that he is badly damaged and casts healing spells on himself.
Smon: You had a long rest (even Rey) so 1/2 your hd back
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 3d8+15 and gets: 2, 5, 6, (+15) = 28
Smon: OOC Finally found Ilhiedrin Book just now while looking for White Dwarf Scenarios I
Smon: Original Kaystar Saru stats!
Kjato Ragfoot: 63/87
Smon: I need to get Bill to bed now - are you guys ok to resume a bit before 10pm?
chris107: mmm about 3 hexes to Mara, another 2 back to the Midnight Goddess Hills.
Amalric: think I have that somewhere, haven't looked at it in years. BoWDS I is the best, too
Kjato Ragfoot: Sure.
chris107: Kaystar must die
Amalric: yep, get my youngest to bed now too
Smon: You can do healing bookkeeping & finalise travel plans.
Smon: ok see you in 40 mins.
Kjato Ragfoot: (The way we play, he will peacefully die of old age)
chris107: Otherwise i'll never be able to bring back Moffet.
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 2d10+4 and gets: 3, 1, (+4) = 8
chris107: sure
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 2d10+4 and gets: 1, 5, (+4) = 10
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d10+2 and gets: 8, (+2) = 10
Kjato Ragfoot: 7 Healing Dice left, 87/87 hit points
Kjato Ragfoot: I see no particular reason to kill Kaystar Saru, but none of my character ever ran into him, as far as I remember.
chris107: He was a real terror in my first online game. Simon's original Wilderlands game I think? back in 20098.
chris107: And strangely the only Simon gamee i have ever had a character survive in!
Kjato Ragfoot: I played a paladin in Simon's City State game a while ago, he is part of the backstory of this character.
chris107:
chris107: I like the continuity.
chris107: Hopefully in a few years we will be playing in a game with Hakeem's son raiding the CSotWE?
Kjato Ragfoot: I would not mind.
Kjato Ragfoot: But in that case, Thuruar should settle down and start a family too. Then we can play Wilderlands 5e Junior.
chris107: hehe that would be fun
chris107: quick ciggie brb
Amalric: and you can have Rey's cast of thousands offspring to fill whatever needs you might have!
Kjato Ragfoot: Or Thuruar needs to be a little friendlier to Damne if we return to Thusia.
chris107: Yes! Rey's bastards will make a whole horde for us to lead into battle
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. Rey's Bastards sounds like a good name for a band of outlaws.
chris107: In 40 years of playing this game. This is only the second time a character has had a child to look forward to.
chris107: So even if hakeem croaks it, there is continuity
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, it is a rare occurance. Would be for the first time in all campaigns I ever played.
chris107: Also Hakeem is now the second highest level character i have ever played.
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf was already the highest level character I ever played.
Kjato Ragfoot: And Thuruar is just way beyond what I ever reached before. But I never played in a campaign that continued that long.
chris107: New ground with Thuruar then?
chris107: My only other high level character took 25 years to make 18th
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. Very new ground.
chris107: So 14th in a year (nearly) is a real bonus.
chris107: Loving watching the new spells
chris107: We need to start looking at combinations.
Kjato Ragfoot: For some of my spells, I am not even sure what they do.
Kjato Ragfoot: Clerics just have so many spells...
chris107: I started to look at some other classes this week.
chris107: And yes, so many spells and so badly indexed!
chris107: I much prefer the listings by class and level rather than alphabeticaly
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, they sorted them this way on purpose to sell their spell cards.
chris107: Thuruar gets 7th level spells next time?
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes.
chris107:
chris107: And we can now 'recall' to Thuria?
Kjato Ragfoot: We can, or rather Thuruar and (i think) up to 5 willing creatures.
Smon: just settling him now
chris107: that's good news
Kjato Ragfoot: Next level, Thuruar can Plane Shift. We can go and pay Inferno the Efreet a visit.
chris107: oh yes please
chris107: Then we can kill stuff on all the planes too!
Kjato Ragfoot: Exactly!
Kjato Ragfoot: And, I found a way to really annoy Oriax: Banishment. All of his slaves are from another plane, with banishment, I send them back.
chris107: Perfect!
chris107: Then we cut off his head?
Kjato Ragfoot: I would cut his head of first, but the order does not really matter.
chris107: Either way is good for me.
Smon: Banishment sounds a great way to get Oriax's girls home. B)
Smon: (back)
chris107: It would be good to chop his head off using the Sword of Bondorr.
Kjato Ragfoot: Meanwhile, Hakeem could probably rid his head off with bare hands.
chris107: That works too
Smon: Critter is still awake, talking to himself.
chris107:
Smon: One Oriax girl Lucy Prentice is at Thusia, you could Banish her? And Alicia, if you wanted to annoy Rey.
chris107: mmmmmmm
Amalric: back
chris107: quick glass of vino and i'm good to go.
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah, no. Only if Rey really angered Thuruar.
Smon: If you send Alicia back she'll be in my tabletop Golarion game here in London!
Kjato Ragfoot: But I will send Lucy Prentice back once we return to Thusia.
Smon: It's set a few years after your Runelords disaster & the burning of Sandpoint.
chris107: Disaster
Amalric: best thing that could have happened to that town
Smon:
Kjato Ragfoot: We could Plane Shift Oriax's apprentice to some other realm so that Simon can use him as a reccuring villain, with cool new otherworldy powers.
chris107: one day it would be good to avenge Sandpoint.
Smon: Have to see if a new band of heroes can gather the Shattered Star & stop the Rise of the Runelords.
chris107: Joseph must loose his head.
Smon: You could presumably Plane Shift back there; Jana Vex & Alicia could both provide links.
Kjato Ragfoot: Back to sandpoint?
Smon: Oriax's apprentice is from Earth or similar place, so also Banishable.
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, Chris wants to cut Joseph into small pieces, so we can only bannish him after death.
Smon:
Kjato Ragfoot: Should really freak out the local authorities if a chopped up body appears out of nowhere.-
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: I should be careful with banishment around Malenn though, she is technically from another plane as well.
Kjato Ragfoot: I should be careful with banishment around Malenn though, she is technically from another plane as well.
Kjato Ragfoot: I should be careful with banishment around Malenn though, she is technically from another plane as well.
Kjato Ragfoot: I should be careful with banishment around Malenn though, she is technically from another plane as well.
Smon: GM: After breakfast your group makes ready to leave. The ferryman takes you across the swift-flowing Asro/Cedarwade for 2 sp each.
chris107: oh that's a point
Smon: Malenn - yes, although a very close parrallel.
Smon: Well remembered.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh well. We still have plenty small change.
chris107: So to the Rangers?
Smon: From Cahli the road leads north towards Mara.
Smon: You break off and head NE towards the Fairhills river?
chris107: We want to be on the West bank?
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, to the rangers. We will need their support to free the former queen of mara.
Smon: Hakeem has been this way a couple times before and can lead the way.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 5,
chris107: Sorry East Bank
Smon: You reach the west bank of the broad Fairhills river late morning.
chris107: to get to Castle of Wode
chris107: to get to Castle of Wode
chris107: to get to Castle of Wode
chris107: to get to Castle of Wode
Smon: Downstream it opens into the Korm Basin, you can see white-sailed fishing boats there.
Smon: Ahead the river flows, deep and wide.
chris107: "Can you get us across with your magic Thur?"
chris107: "Can you get us across with your magic Thur?"
chris107: "Can you get us across with your magic Thur?"
chris107: "Can you get us across with your magic Thur?"
Smon: Thuruar, you using PW?
chris107: (Is Alicia with us?)
Smon: No
Smon: Only Laara & the dragonborn.
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, Control Water to get safely accross if that is possible.
Smon: Thuruar casts Control Water... the water nearby rolls back... realises that it's going to take 3 castings to get you across here.
Smon: I'll let you maintain concentration as you're just using slots to increase the area.
Kjato Ragfoot: No problem, I have sufficient slots.
chris107:
Smon: As you're ok to use 3 slots... the water lowers, you step forward with the others across the muddy riverbed... the water closes in behind you as you cast again (sadly no Nerathi chariots to drown) and after 3 castings you splash through the shallows on the east bank and emerge onto dry land.
chris107: hehe
chris107: drowning Nerathi chariots would have been fun.
Smon: From here you head north across coastal heathlands towards the Castle of the Wode...
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 4,
Smon: The sun passes noon. In the distance to the east you see white flocks of sheep grazing, tended by white-smocked shepherdesses; little more than more white dots about half a mile off.
Smon: There are scattered Nerathi farm-steadings around these parts, fortified against pirates and Altanian raiders, but nothing bothers you as you head north.
chris107: H keeps his guard up
Amalric: Rey looks bored
chris107: that should fetch the dragons Graham
Amalric:
Smon: You eat as you walk... the afternoon sun beats down...
Smon: /roll d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 3, (+4) = 7
Smon: You spot someone watching you from a tufty bush ahead to your left.
Smon: (terrible stealth roll there)
chris107: Thur, Rey you better deal with this
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will wave him out. "Hello. We are on our way to Castle Wode. Is this the right direction?"
Smon: Realising they've been spotted, a lone figure - female, in studded leather - rises from the bush, gripping a longbow
Smon: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/7a/0f/78/7a0f78f4236f0a7f2d8addcb737f35c4.jpg
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. She is pretty. Can I keep her?
Smon: She regards you suspiciously. "And who might you be?"
Kjato Ragfoot: I am Thuruar, High Priest of Erathis.
Kjato Ragfoot: These are my loyal companions Hakeem Grey-Wolf and Lord Raey.
Amalric: "Pleased to meet you!"
Smon: "High Priest of Erathis? Well, that is good news..."
Smon: She lowers the bow, also nodding to Rey. "Why are there Altanians with you?"
chris107: "Hi."
chris107: "Got to keep 'em safe..."
Kjato Ragfoot: We found a common enemy in the Black Sun, who tried to turn the Wilderlands into the Deathlands.
Smon: The woman looks at Hakeem. "Clan Greywolf, if I'm not mistaken."
chris107: H nods.
Kjato Ragfoot: (Not to mention that Thuruar is an Altanian as well, just converted to Erathis as a young adult)
Smon: (Yes, if he weren't wearing a helmet she'd notice that - but he's in mithril full plate)
Kjato Ragfoot: (Ah. True. Forgot I have full plate now)
Smon: Thuruar make CHA (Persuasion) check.
chris107: good luck
Smon: As you get closer she sees the reddish hue on Thuruar's skin, her eyes widen slightly.
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 16, (+7) = 23
chris107: nice
Smon: Nice
Amalric: learn a thing or two from Rey, eh?
Smon: She smiles. "I am Anna Souvari, Ranger of the Wode. We are three leagues south of the fortress."
Smon: "Tagoler will wish to meet with you."
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah, one of the famous rangers of the Wode. A pleasure to meet you.
Smon: She nods. "Some of us are actually quite good at hiding, you know!" Anna gives a wry grin.
chris107: hehe
Smon: "Come with me - watch out for stray zombies... I shot a couple yesterday. They don't seem to be moving fast now, though."
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah, surely it was Athena's will that we meet. Next time, we won't spot you that easily.
Smon: Anna nods. "Aye..."
Smon: She points the way north.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
chris107: H tags along. Hoping for a zombie or 10 to slay.
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah. Do not worry about zombies. They should not pose to large a threat for our merry band.
Smon: The nine miles or so passes without incident, as the sun is setting you see the Castle of the Wode silhouetted against the northern sky, Hakeem's home hills - the Midnight Goddess' - rolling out beyond.
chris107: Home
Kjato Ragfoot: And yes, it is true. (Thuruar takes his helmet of) one of the fierce barbarians found his way to the LAdy of Wisdom.
chris107: H smiles at Laara. "Home soon lass."
Smon: Anna looks thoughtful. "An Altanian priest of Erathis... They say miracles do happen!"
Smon: Laara smiles up at Hakeem. "I'll be very glad to be back - (sotto voce) now I feel sorry for Kaag, stuck in that boring Temple..."
chris107: Hakeem chuckles along with Laara.
chris107: Whispers back "I suppose we will have to rescue poor Kaag one day?"
Smon: A small village lies at the base of the castle bluff. Ranger Anna speaks to the gate guard; the gate is opened and she leads you through the small but cheerful farming settlement. Children and geese watch you pass.
Smon: Laara nods to Hakeem. "Too much Wisdom will make his brains leak out..."
chris107: hehe
Amalric: "And we wouldn't want that..."
chris107: (Not a problem H is likely to face)
Smon: You reach the foot of the bluff and take a narrow trail up to the Castle gate, overlooked by archers on the walls above.
Kjato Ragfoot: (I doubt Kaag bores himself. Most likely, he decided to become a hermit of wisdom meanwhile and secluded himself with a couple good books)
Smon: At the gate, Anna speaks the password - "Interdiction!" - and the gate is opened by two heavy-set Dwarves.
Smon: Anna nods to them and leads you into the courtyard. Several Rangers watch you warily. Anna speaks to an older man, then turns to you.
Smon: "We must wait here a few minutes."
Amalric: "Interdiction? What kind of passwors is that?! What is it tomorrow, "Contrafibulations"?!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Probably something starting with "J".
chris107: H looks lost at these big words
Smon: You're standing in the courtyard, there are quite a lot of green-cloaked Rangers on the battlements above you, holding bows and looking warily down at you. Anna looks a bit nervous.
Smon: Anna: "They're a bit nervous... What with the war... The massacre at Nerra..."
chris107: H looks relaxed and happy
Kjato Ragfoot: Something wrong? You look nervous.
Kjato Ragfoot: We did not participate in Nerra, only heard that the Clans defeated a host of Neo-Nerath.
Kjato Ragfoot: We were up in the north, near Palen Springs, to close the Gate of the Black Sun.
Smon: Anna: "We've not had any Altanians here for quite awhile..."
chris107: "We have been too busy fighting the Black Sun."
Smon: Anna's eyes widen. "The Gate is closed? Is that why the Dread Warriors collapsed, or became mindless zombies?"
chris107: "Destroying Morthor Cof and his vikle gate."
chris107: vile
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, the Gate is closed. Most likely, this weakened the Dread Warriors.
Amalric: "All in a day's work."
chris107: (Yes it was )
Kjato Ragfoot: And, as Hakeem says, Morthor Coff died defending the gate. Kaystar Saru now rules Palen Springs
Smon: The older Ranger comes out again, speaks to Anna Souvari. She nods. "Lord Tagoler and Lady Anisa will see you now."
chris107: "For now." H adds ominously
Smon: Anna leads you into the castle, accompanied by the two dwarves and four other guardsmen, up steps and into the Great Hall, where the Lord of the Keep is seated, waiting to meet you. A
Smon: A white-robed priestess stands by his side.
Smon: Tagoler looks you over as you come in. "Welcome! Come, be seated..." he indicates a bench at the table below his seat.
Smon: Tagoler http://th03.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/f/2013/330/f/3/cronicas_human_ranger___by_caio_monteiro_by_caiomm-d6vpx1p.jpg
Kjato Ragfoot: Thank you for your hospitality, Lord Tagoler.
chris107: H takes a back seat and lets the clever ones do the talking.
Smon: The druidess Anisa - http://th02.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2013/228/6/0/druidess_by_beniaminobradi-d6igsgu.jpg
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. A priestess of Bacchus.
Amalric: "Oh hello..."
Amalric: Rey smiles, then remembers himself and bows. "I mean, honoured to make your acquaintance."
chris107: hehe
Smon: While you sit, Anna steps forward and briefly converses with Tagoler, you hear her telling him you closed the Black Sun Gate, destroying most of the Neo-Nerathi undead army in the process.
chris107: don't roll a 1 now Rey!
Smon: Anisa looks curiously at Rey... Persuasion check.
chris107: this is where we fail
chris107: The whole campaign destroyed by Rey's sex drive
Smon: ...
Kjato Ragfoot: (Graham, now roll!)
chris107: please
Smon: Guess I'll have to roll for him.. and you've seen my luck tonight...
Smon: here goes...
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 8,
Smon: 8+11=19.
Smon: Rey on an off day is still charming.
chris107: phew
Smon: Anisa returns Rey's bow. "And I yours, milord. Lord Reynard of the House Mercellin?"
Smon: Tagoler sees the looks exchanged, snorts.
Amalric: always
Amalric: (sorry just had to put eldest to bed)
Smon: Tagoler: "Priest Thuruar. Why have you come here?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar shrugs when he notices the conversation.
Amalric rolls 1d20+11 and gets: 20, (+11) = 31
Amalric: see? thats how you do it
Smon: LOL
chris107: It's you Graham! Not Rey!
Smon:
Kjato Ragfoot: My friends and I are fighting the Black Sun, which, as I heard, is not among your friends either.
Amalric: "The very same, Lady Anisa. I did not know there was a druid os such beauty here, else I would have visited here long before now."
Kjato Ragfoot: Thus, we seek your help in restoring the rightful queen of Mara, Lady Earani Cor.
chris107: (Oh God Rey is going to get us all killed by Rangers!)
Smon: Tagoler: "They say the Black Sun is a symbol of Erathis... of the endless cycle of rebirth... Civilisation triumphing over Barbarism... I take it you disagree?"
Smon: Anisa blushes at Rey's words, looking down. She seems happy, though.
Smon: Tagoler glares at Rey. "The Druidess, the Lady Anisa... My fiancee."
Kjato Ragfoot: I greatly disagree. I was to the portal of the Black Sun. What I saw behind was not wisdom nor rebirth, but despair and eternal suffering.
chris107: H kicks Rey
Amalric: "And a very lucky man you are indeed, sir! A beauty, and wise to boot I am sure. Together you will serve your people better than any."
Smon: Tagoler looks to Thuruar, then glances around the hall as if fearing spies before nodding. "Aye..." He turns back to Rey. "Aye, Anisa is surely better than I deserve... As wise as she is beautiful." Anisa smiles at that too. "Please, Tagoler, enough of this chat. Let us focus on the matter at hand."
Smon: Tagoler turns back to Thuruar; Anisa does too, but casting the occasional shy glance at Rey.
Smon: Tagoler: "Tell me what you saw at the Black Sun Gate, Father."
Kjato Ragfoot: A dark obelisk gathered necrotic energy, powered by human sacrifices tossed into the portal.
Kjato Ragfoot: Around the portal, the dead spontaneously rose.
Smon: Tagoler grimaces. "Tis vile stuff. Our ancestors - the people of Nerath - left the City State to be free of such debauchery!"
Kjato Ragfoot: It is. The Black Sun Gate caused imbalance between life and death, affecting such far away places as the elven kingdom of Antal.
Smon: Anisa nods. "The Neo-Nerathi have corrupted everything that is good and great of Nerath... and they have brought death and suffering to countless thousands, Altani and Nerathi alike."
Kjato Ragfoot: And, even worse, the Black Sun turned the usual raiding between Nerathi and Altanian into genocidial bloodshed, furthering the dark powers behind the gate.
Smon: Tagoler nods, stroking his beard. "I rue the day Lord Bronze of Hara joined with the Black Sun... But of Earani Cor. Have you heard that she is with child? The child of Lord Namelin Bronze."
Kjato Ragfoot: No, I have not. The last I heard was that she was taken prisoner and her throne usurped.
Smon: Anisa: "We do not know what state her mind is now, Lord Thuruar. Whose side she is truly on."
Smon: Tagoler: "Father Thuruar, if you offer a way to end this war and defeat the Black Sun, we will offer such aid as we may. But there is still an army at Hara - men from beyond the mountains, and the men of Hara as well. Our scouts report they are much depleted, but still beyond the strength of this Keep."
chris107: Hakeem scratches his head.
Smon: ooc finish at 11.30 ok? It's 11.24.
Kjato Ragfoot: We had hoped for a way to rescue the queen, and with her at our side, convince the Nerathi to either join the Ghinarian Lords and the Altanians in their war against Yusan or at least return west of the mountains, to spare these lands plundering and burning.
chris107: no probs
Amalric: cool
Kjato Ragfoot: (OK)
Smon: Tagoler: "Lord Bronze keeps Earani in his harem, in the Bronze Hall... It is well guarded. Only great stealth or sorcery could wrest her from his grip. And I do not know if she can still lead... "
Amalric: "Stealth comes easy to me, and Thuruar is a powerful spell caster..."
chris107: "We must try. Thuruar is wise."
Smon: Anisa: "I fear Nerath must have a new leader. Not Namelin Bronze, not Prince Cormarrin... but a good man. A true man of Nerath."
Amalric: "Sure Hakeem comes in useful sometimes too..."
chris107:
Smon: Probably doesn't take an Insight check to see where Anisa is going...
chris107: (Mmmmm Cormarrin is on Hakeem's death list)
chris107: (Drat)
chris107: (Ah no! Got it )
Kjato Ragfoot: (Targoen himself shall be Lord of Nerath. You can kill Cormarrin all you want, he won't mind)
Amalric: probably does for Rey and H
Smon: Tagoler shrugs at Anisa's words, turns to Thuruar. "We can offer a guide to get you to the Hall of Bronze - Ranger Souvari knows the town well, she would be a good choice?"
chris107: Kill Bronze, kill Cormarrin? Perfect
Kjato Ragfoot: I would be glad to have Ranger Souvari with me. If she agrees to lead us, I will gladly accept.
Smon: Anna steps forward, smiles proudly and salutes Tagoler. "Sir, yes, Sir!"
Smon: OOC stopping there.
Smon: Nice work guys.
chris107: Cool! Another good game Simon/guys. Thanks
Smon: Next Wednesday ok?
chris107: Next game is?
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, that was fun. I did not even notice how quickly the time went by...
Amalric: next Wed is fine
Kjato Ragfoot: Wednesday shortly after 19 is fine with me.
chris107: Ah
chris107: Hopefully see you all then
Smon: ok cool
