6:29pm  2015-9-05 Smon Has entered the room
6:30pm  2015-9-05 Amalric Has entered the room
Smon: Hi G
Amalric: hey S
Smon: I see Kjato is online too.
Amalric: he is? cool
Amalric: just settling down for the evening here
Smon: me too
Smon: Pizza in the oven, parents away, child handed over
6:36pm  2015-9-05 Kjato Ragfoot Has entered the room
Amalric: hey Kjato!
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello!
Smon: Hi Kjato
Kjato Ragfoot: Only two players today?
Smon: I've not seen Boredom
Smon: Graham did you have a chance to look over the log?
Smon: Anyone there/
Smon: ?
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes.
Amalric: yes
Amalric: sorry
Smon:
Amalric: the log...no
Smon: http://smons.blogspot.co.uk/2015/08/session-32-524446-bccc-journeying.html
Smon: The group left Selatine with a large number of harem girls, ex pony girls, etc...
Smon: Passed through Thracia without incident.
Amalric: dungeon delve, kill lots of baddies, take the loot?
Smon: Camped for the night in ruins in the hills se of Bratanis, the destination, killed a shambling mound there, then were attacked by hobgoblins.
Smon: Killed lots of hobgoblins but took lots of damage.
Kjato Ragfoot: And the new barbarian really impressed the chicks.
Smon: Eardvulf did well and is enjoying the favours of the ex chariot girls, yup.
Smon: The dice were really favouring him.
Smon: Hakeem & Rey killed four hobgoblins 'off screen' while defending the camp.
Amalric: only right
Smon: Currently it's a bit before midnight, you are still camped out in the ruins (short rested) Eardvulf is enjoying the favours of the pony girls, I guess Rey and Bjornalf are awake & on guard.
Amalric: what?! Rey does not like this state of affairs, he's normally the one enjoying favours
Smon: Rey has his harem with him & they are happy to oblige
Amalric: hope Bjornalf enjoys guard duty
Smon: Your fire is set atop a trapdoor that had been concealed by the chopped-up shambling mound.
Amalric: no better way to cook veg
Smon: There are the remains of two buildings just south of a low cliff, you are sheltering in the southern one.
Amalric: atop the cliff, or below it?
Smon: Set in the cliff is an archway to an alcove or tunnel leading into the cliff face, while a ruined tower/fort rises on the clifftop.
Amalric: gotcha
Smon: The arch is set at the base of the cliff, about 40' back from the northern of the two ruins, in which a large tree grows. Your camp is in the southern ruin, little more than an L-shaped wall now.
Amalric: whats the plan?
Kjato Ragfoot: Run as far as possible. Earn money. Return and kill Oriax.
Smon: Eardvulf seems set on spending the night here with his lovelies, especially the buxom Lynette.
Smon: In the morning you're planning to complete the journey to Bratanis, and from there on west towards Thusia and Lady Meda.
Smon: Malenn & Jana may want to detour to the Mitraic Temple of Belaras, but have not said so yet.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 5,
Smon: Rey is busy shagging, so Bjornalf make a Perception check.
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20 and gets: 12,
Amalric: all night? well if you say so
Smon: Bjornalf's night vision picks something curious up on the ground - tracks, several days old, leading to the trapdoor. They don't look human.
Smon: Several pairs of taloned feet, but vaguely humanoid, bipedal you think.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. Being somehow bored due to the lack of attention, Bjornalf will check out the trap door.
Smon: Eardvulf set the fire over the trap door, it has burned down almost to embers now though.
Smon: The old wood shows black scarring from the heat, but hasn't caught fire.
Smon: It shows signs of recent use. The brass ring handle looks in decent condition.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. OK. Probably not that clever to touch a brass ring that laid in a fire recently.
Amalric: lol good point
Kjato Ragfoot: I will leave the door for now, we can check it out in the morning.
Smon: GM: Bjornalf completes his watch and hands over to Hakeem.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
Smon: You're woken around 2am by heavy rain falling, the remains of the fire hissing smokily.
Smon: You can stay where you are and get soaked, the roofless ruin provides little cover, or seek shelter.
7:05pm  2015-9-05 roadlesstraveled Has entered the room
Smon: Hello road
Amalric: seek shelter I say
Kjato Ragfoot: Well. There is a rain proof trap door nearby.
Amalric: less travelled
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello road
roadlesstraveled: hi
roadlesstraveled: just wondering what the topic is in this room
Smon: Options for shelter: the trapdoor, the cliff entrance, or the ruin atop the cliff looks in better condition than those below.
Smon: Smons 5e Wilderlands game
Amalric: tower on top?
roadlesstraveled: oh I guess I don't know it
Kjato Ragfoot: Trap door. Those usually lead to dungeons and thus treasure.
Smon: The cliff is about 30' high, you can try to climb it here or see if there is an easier way up to n or s
Smon: (5e D&D game set in Judges Guild Wilderlands setting)
Smon: (it's awesome)
roadlesstraveled: oooh
Smon: Bjornalf is opening the trap door?
Amalric: I thought the cliff entrance led up there>
Amalric: ?
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. The rain should have cooled the brass ring.
Smon: You can look in the cliff entrance - you see an alcove about 10' deep, with a blank rear wall.
Smon: Bjornalf pulls up the trap door by the ring (only warm to the touch)...
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's get down here, it should be dry and full of monsters!
Smon: A fetid stench greets him. Stone stairs lead down west into darkness.
Smon: /roll d20
Amalric: "Not the most welcoming smell, Bjornalf..."
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 19,
Smon: You hear a rustling sound in the darkness beyond the steps, as of something stirring to life...
Kjato Ragfoot: We should have hired cleaning personell before leaving.
roadlesstraveled:
Amalric: we are the clearing personnel
Kjato Ragfoot: (OH. Had we time to take a short rest during the night?)
Amalric: more shambling mounds?
Kjato Ragfoot: Owlbears or lizardmen.
Smon: (yes you short rested like I said earlier)
Smon: The stench from below grows worse - make CON saves.
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20 and gets: 7,
Amalric rolls 1d20 and gets: 17,
Amalric: if its lower Rey fails
Smon: DC 12
Kjato Ragfoot: Then Bjornalf probably starts vomiting.
Smon: Bjornalf gets 7 +3 Proficiency +2 CON = 12, exactly pass.
Smon: Lucky.
Smon: (Level 1-4 Bjornalf would have failed)
Smon: Bjornalf manages to overcome his incipient nausea.
Amalric: Trogs?
Kjato Ragfoot: That definitely does not smell like teen spirit.
Smon: Hissing sounds come from the darkness below. Seems familiar to Rey, he recalls tales of Troglodytes, foul Underworld lizardmen...
Kjato Ragfoot: Amalrics: Would be my guess as well.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 3,
Smon: Then you see the grey skinned creatures bounding towards you up the stone steps, mouths slavering... roll init.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 20,
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1, (+2) = 3
Smon: Their chameleon skin stood them in good stead, they are on you almost before you realise it...
Amalric rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 4, (+4) = 8
Amalric: apparently
Smon: In the narrow stairway only the leading two can attack you.
Smon: One vs Bjornalf, it lunges, biting and clawing...
Smon: /roll d20+4x3
Smon Rolls 1d20+4x3 and gets:
5 (+4) = 9
14 (+4) = 18
6 (+4) = 10
Kjato Ragfoot: (second hits, AC 15)
Smon: Is your Armour of Shadows always up?
Smon: /roll d4+2
Smon rolls 1d4+2 and gets: 3, (+2) = 5
Smon: 5 dmg to B
Kjato Ragfoot: Basically yes: it lasts for 8 hours, but it just takes me one action to reactivate it.
Smon: ok
Smon: B was down 5 after short rest, now down 10
Smon: 1 attacks Rey...
Smon: /roll d20+4x3
Smon Rolls 1d20+4x3 and gets:
13 (+4) = 17
13 (+4) = 17
11 (+4) = 15
Amalric: what?!
Kjato Ragfoot: (40/50)
Amalric: do I have Alicia here to cast Phantom Armor?
Amalric: sure she would have dont that post....nightly activity
Amalric: *cast, not dont
Smon: Rey is currently AC 15 but can request a Mage Armour from Alicia. You *could* have asked for it pre opening of trapdoor.
Smon: (she normally casts one on him at the start of the day, not at night)
Amalric: and isn't my AC16? armor=11 +4 for DEX +1 for Ring
Smon: Yup, looks like AC 15 is an error on your sheet.
Smon: 2 hits, first has damage halved for Evasion
Amalric: well Rey doesn't often have the Mage Armor these days, if Alicia is here seems like an ideal time
Smon: /roll d4+2
Smon: /roll d4+2
Smon rolls 1d4+2 and gets: 4, (+2) = 6
Smon rolls 1d4+2 and gets: 1, (+2) = 3
Smon: 3+3=6 dmg to Rey
Amalric: fairy nuff
Amalric: 52/58
Smon: Alicia comes up behind Rey and Mage Armours him as requested
Smon: Are you going to hold the trogs at the choke point atop the stairs, or fall back?
Kjato Ragfoot: How many trogs do I see?
Amalric: hold them
Smon: Bjornalf's darkvision picks out 5 of the brutes.
Kjato Ragfoot: In that case, the chope point is probably a good idea. We are only two.
roadlesstraveled: um I'm not a trog, please don't hit me .....
Amalric: if it looks like a trog, and smells like a trog...
Amalric: our attacks?
Smon: You can attack.
roadlesstraveled: no more beer-binges and wilderness-wandering for me.
Amalric rolls 2d20 and gets: 13, 4, = 17
roadlesstraveled: ( sorry mr. dungeon master )
Amalric: rapier hits
Smon: The vile hide of the trogs is only AC 11
Amalric rolls 1d8+4 and gets: 8, (+4) = 12
Amalric: oh cool
Amalric rolls 1d4+1 and gets: 4, (+1) = 5
Amalric rolls 3d6 and gets: 3, 1, 2, = 6
Smon: Any reason to get sneak attack? I'll have to check...
Amalric: target beside your ally?
Amalric: I dunno, I just roll the dice
Smon: Yup, enemy of target w/in 5' is all you need.
Smon: You kill it with your first blow, from the rapier.
Amalric: can I stab the one next to me with the dagger?
Kjato Ragfoot: (Hmm. So the ideal frontline consists of spear wielding thieves protected by tower shield bearers in tight formation?)
Smon: You stab the one on Bjornalf for 5 dmg
Smon: (no, can't sneak attack w spear)
Kjato Ragfoot: (Ah. a pity)
Smon: The one attacking Bjornalf hisses angrily. What is B doing?
Kjato Ragfoot: I am going to sing them a very effective lullaby.
Kjato Ragfoot: (sleep with 11d8)
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 11d8 and gets: 8, 2, 1, 5, 7, 5, 8, 7, 3, 1, 4, = 51
Kjato Ragfoot: (Are the trogs snorring?)
Smon: You need 47 to get them all
Smon: All four trogs collapse onto the stairs, snoring.
Smon: Hissing, really.
Amalric: Rey leaps down and slits all their throats
Smon: They look quite cute when they're asleep... but this doesn't stop Rey dispatching the monsters.
Kjato Ragfoot: While you are at it, you can also look for loot.
Kjato Ragfoot: Then, we should carry the corpses out into the rain so that we can keep dry.
Smon: At the foot of the stairs is a filth-smeared room with a door in the west wall, an arch to the south leads to a second chamber which smells like a trog latrine.
Smon: The trogs wear no clothes and have no possessions that you can see.
Smon: There are the remains of mosaics on the walls, depicting Midor, great god of the Orcs, and his family/minions.
roadlesstraveled:
Amalric: Rey checks the door for traps
Amalric rolls 1d20 and gets: 2,
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will take a piece of coal and paints long eye lashes and a kiss mouth on the picture of Midor.
Smon: Alicia looks down into the fetid chamber and wrinkles her nose. "Eww!"
Smon: No sign of traps on the door. Rey notices scrape marks on the floor though, as if heavy objects have been dragged through the doorway.
Amalric: "It was like this before I got down here, honest."
Amalric: "May need some help down here, Bjornalf."
Amalric: Rey tries the door
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh, well. There goes my career as artist.
Smon: The door is stiff, but opens towards you, revealing a corridor that runs left/south ca 20' to a second door at its south end.
Kjato Ragfoot: Suspicious.
Smon: Heaps of stone rubble and furniture - benches, an altar and other religious fittings - have been piled up against the far door.
Amalric: "If trogs are blocking doors, I'm betting there is nothing good behind this. Usually means undead."
Smon: From the scrape marks it looks like the filthy orc temple was cleared of everything movable which was then piled up against the door at the end of the tunnel.
Kjato Ragfoot: "My thoughts exactly."
Smon: Alicia looks at the dead lizard-things. "Yuck."
Amalric: "Shall we take a look then?"
roadlesstraveled:
Smon: Alicia: "I have one spell left if you'd like a magic missile or burning hands..."
Smon: It will take you several minutes to clear the barricade.
Kjato Ragfoot: Actually, I have a better idea.
Kjato Ragfoot: There are some small holes left, right?
Kjato Ragfoot: Because in that case, I could turn into a gaseous form and check the room before we open it.
Smon: There are gaps in the barricade against the southern door.
Amalric: "Whatever kicks more ass, Alicia."
Smon: You can turn to gas & try to ooze under the door?
Amalric: "Oh good idea, sir!"
Kjato Ragfoot: That was my idea. As I can see in the dark, I should be able to at least get a rough idea of what is behind the door.
Smon: (You can still be hurt while gaseous, though you have Resistance - dmg halved)
Smon: Bjornalf turns to gas & seeks to ooze under the door?
roadlesstraveled:
Smon: You can make a stealth check w advtg B - roll twice, take best result
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes.
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 2d20 and gets: 3, 7, = 10
Smon: Bjornalf turns to gas and oozes under the door, emerging into a square chamber that stinks even worse than the last one.
Kjato Ragfoot: I must have accidently turned into a fluorescent cloud...
Smon: The SE part of the chamber is taken up by descending spiral stairs.
Kjato Ragfoot: What do I see?
Smon: Best roll is 7+5+12
Smon: Two more trogs lies curled up by the top of the stairs, apparently sleeping.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 5,
Smon: That's all you can see.
Kjato Ragfoot: I will ooze further in, trying to figure out what it is about the trogs.
Kjato Ragfoot: And if I find walls / other exits.
Smon: The stairs down seem to be the only exit.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 7,
Smon: Nearing the trogs, you see there is something odd about them, they seem twisted, distorted somehow.
Smon: Make another stealth check, 2 rolls.
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 2d20 and gets: 17, 6, = 23
Smon: And... they don't seem to be breathing.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 5,
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. Distorted non-breathing trogs.
Kjato Ragfoot: How big is that room, anyway? Is there anything else to be found except the stairs?
Smon: 20x20, with a 10' wide spiral stair. It seems empty otherwise.
Smon: The walls are stone, quite crudely worked.
Kjato Ragfoot: I will ooze along the walls, looking for fissure or something similar I could ooze in.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 5,
Smon: The walls seem solid.
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. I return to the others.
Smon: make another stealth check
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 2d20 and gets: 18, 19, = 37
Smon: Bjornalf oozes back under the door and returns to the corridor where Rey & Alicia await.
Kjato Ragfoot: I will return to my solid form. Will it make easier to tell the others what I saw.
Kjato Ragfoot: "There is a single chamber behind that door, with stairs leading further down. I found to troglodyte corpses that looked very strange.
Amalric: undead trogs?
Kjato Ragfoot: I assume more the victims of some other monster.
Kjato Ragfoot: That is probably why the other trogs barricaded the door.
Kjato Ragfoot: We should better rest before delving deeper into this dungeon.
Amalric: as you wish, but we can't sleep in this filth
Kjato Ragfoot: Unless a river nearby that we can drain into this cesspit, there is little hope of improving it.
Smon: GM: actions?
Kjato Ragfoot: Da ist guter Rat teuer.
Kjato Ragfoot: No idea what to do. We cannot go further as weak as we are, but we cannot stay either.
Amalric: head for the archway in the cliff and look for a way up to the tower
Kjato Ragfoot: Allright.
Smon: GM: Rey heads back upstairs and through the cliff archway into the shallow recess, followed by Bjornalf.
Smon: Make Perception checks.
Smon: /roll d20+1
Smon rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 2, (+1) = 3
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20 and gets: 17,
Smon: Alicia inspects her fingernails.  Bjornalf thinks there is something odd about the back wall of the alcove.
Smon: Rey PER check?
Kjato Ragfoot: Hm. I will take a closer look at the alcove. I propaply forgot to improve Midor's fingernails.
Smon: or Rey can use Investigation to Investigate the alcove.
Smon: I'll roll
Amalric: me
Amalric rolls 1d20 and gets: 3,
Smon: ok
Smon: Rey sees nothing unusual.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. Do I detect magic in this room?
Amalric: rubbish
Smon: Bjornalf detects no magic in the room, but he DOES detect magic from beyond the back wall of the alcove.
Smon: It feels like two sources, quite powerful.
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. There is something here and it has nothing to do with my painting.
Smon: (You left the trog-stench temple and went back out into the ruins.)
Smon: (You are currently in the alcove at the base of the cliff)
Amalric: indeed
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah! OK. I was a little confused.
Amalric: anyone able to detect evil?
Kjato Ragfoot: Malenn has some detect evil like ability, but I am not sure how it works exactly.
Amalric: get the pregnant wench up here then
Smon: You call Malenn over. She concentrates, then shakes her head. "I detect no Hallowed or Unhallowed ground here."
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. Does anyone has a hammer?
8:29pm  2015-9-05 Smon Has exited the room
Amalric: we have Hakeem's head?
Kjato Ragfoot: Even though he is thickheaded, I am quite sure a stone wall would out-stubborn him.
8:30pm  2015-9-05 Smon Has entered the room
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 15,
Smon: Malenn: "There's something odd about this back wall..." she taps it "It's hollow, alright."
Smon: Alicia: "A secret door? I can't see anything."
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. Let me see. Perhaps I can feel something, if I cannot see anything.
Amalric: bugger, going to have to call it a night
Smon: /roll d20
Amalric: sorry guys, family needs
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 3,
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will touch the wall, to figure out whether he finds something odd.
Smon: Bjornalf feels the back wall, it has several rough nodules.
Smon: OOC bad luck on your rolls guys
