7:29pm  2015-11-26 Smon Has entered the room
chris107: Cool
Smon: No Graham?
chris107: Not yet.
chris107: You want me to drop a PM?
Smon: Like Waiting for Godot  - yeah, pm good. :)
Smon: >>Smon: The Innkeep takes the gold. "Thank'ee, but I only have three rooms left and the priestess took one - some of you will have to share." Kjato Ragfoot: Still, we would like to rent rooms for the night if you have any left. Smon: Laara smiles: "I think I feel safer with you in the room with me, Hakeem!" chris107: H shrugs Kjato Ragfoot: It is Amdor, two guards, Hakeem and Thuruar? Kjato Ragfoot: And Rey and Alicia? Kjato Ragfoot: In that case we will simply take both rooms left. Kjato Ragfoot: And see how we get everyone inside. chris107: if not H will find a handy stable Smon: GM: The maid returns. "Your bath is ready, ma'am." She nods and rises. "Thank you."<<
Smon: GM: Encounter check for the Inn - bad stuff on a 6 as usual...
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
Smon: never fails
chris107: PM sent
chris107: Oops
chris107: You are the king of 6's
Kjato Ragfoot: A beer demon raises and challenges Hakeem to a drinking match?

Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 12, (+5) = 17
chris107:
chris107: yay!
Smon: You are relaxing before bed in the crowded main hall. Thuruar is drinking quietly, when he suddenly hears a scream, muffled by walls, from the corridor down which Priestess Sora went to her bath - it's her!
chris107: H leaps up and investigates
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, something happend to Sora.
chris107: The blue flash of light from Bloodletter fills the room
chris107: I hope
Kjato Ragfoot: No killing unless necessary!
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: And now, forward, we have a priestess to save.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will hurry toward where he heard the scream.
chris107: H is already off at 40' round
chris107: "SORA!?"
Smon: Hakeem & Thuruar dash down the corridor, passing a door to the store room - Helga the barmaid is coming out carrying a hock of ham, looks on in surprise as you dash past.
chris107: ?!
Kjato Ragfoot: (We leave Rey to deal with Helga, he is the most experienced in this regard)
chris107: (apologies now chaps. I drove down to Bath today and left all my notes/books in my Yorkshire home  )
chris107: (Agreed :D)
Smon: The bathroom door to your right is open, the bath empty, but at the end of the corridor you see the door outside open, two bulky dark forms carrying between them a wet and naked female form - Sora!
chris107: H kicks the nearest up the arse
Smon: They hurry outside, out of your sight into the alley behind the inn. You give chase - roll init.

chris107:
Smon: Hakeem bursts out the back door, into the darkened alleyway with Thuruar behind - they're not in sight. They must have gone either left or right...
chris107: H looks for foot prints
Kjato Ragfoot: We follow the trail of water. They carry a wet body, it will drop water.
chris107: Survival?
chris107: Wise Kjato, wise
Smon: The night time alley is dark and dank, full of detritus, but Bloodletter shines a light on the scene...
Smon: OK, DC 8 Survival check to spot tracks - it's too dank to see water drops.
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 2, (+3) = 5
Smon: Don't seem to be any tracks.
chris107: Jeez!
chris107: Left
Smon: You could always split up, chances are one of you'd catch them.
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. Lets split.
chris107: That's agood idea
Smon: Hakeem left, Thuruar right?
Kjato Ragfoot: You go left, I go right.
chris107: we are close enough to cath two guys carrying a writhing priestess
Smon: You split up and race on.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
chris107: H bellows!
Smon: Hakeem turns the first corner at speed and sees the two dark-clad figures carrying Sora, gagged & bound - as he bursts on the scene they drop her and each draws twin blades.
Smon: Can roll init again
Smon: /roll d20
chris107: H rages and hacks at them
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 12,

Smon: You win.
chris107: He attacks recklessly.
Smon: It'll take Thuruar 2 rounds to arrive, get here round 3.
Kjato Ragfoot: All right.

Smon: 16/2=8 dmg, Hakeem down 16 by my count.
Smon: was down 8 already.
chris107: yup
Smon: They're not as good as Nerathi Assassins
chris107: 109/125
Smon: Next round, your go
chris107: Berserk

chris107: hehe
Smon: not good for him.
Smon: Round 3, Thuruar comes round the corner & can roll init
chris107: Athena is with us
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 11,
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 18, (+2) = 20
Smon: Priestess Sora is working her hands free of her bonds.
Smon: Thuruar goes first - he sees the scene in the twisty alley.
Smon: Hakeem seems to have the matter in hand.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will help Sora.
Smon: Thuruar goes over to Sora; kneeling he gets the ropes that bind her wrists behind her free.

chris107 rolls 3d8+27 and gets: 6, 5, 3, (+27) = 41
Smon: Hakeem cuts the thug into little thug-shaped pieces.
8:01pm  2015-11-26 chris107 Has exited the room
Kjato Ragfoot: Luckily, Thuruar prepared for just such an occasion and will now interrogate the deceased thugs.
Smon: Sora gets to her feet, pulling the gag free and blushing furiously. "My apologies. They surprised me. I should have been more careful."
8:03pm  2015-11-26 chris107 Has entered the room
Smon: Kjato Ragfoot: Luckily, Thuruar prepared for just such an occasion and will now interrogate the deceased thugs. Smon: Sora gets to her feet, pulling the gag free and blushing furiously. "My apologies. They surprised me. I should have been more careful."
Kjato Ragfoot: You know, you have friends to help you out if you make a mistake.
chris107:
chris107: H covers the lay-dee with his still as yet uncured wolf cloak
Smon: Sora nods, shivering slightly in her nude wetness in the cool night air. "Thank you. I am in your debt, both of you."
Smon: Sora nods grateful thanks to Hakeem and wraps the ever-replacing  cloak about her.
chris107: Search the would-be kidnappers
Smon: Beneath the cloaks the men look like grizzled brigands or thugs, fairish of complexion - one Skandik the other Tharbrian, perhaps.
chris107: It's that or his rather smelly loin cloth
chris107: mmmm
Smon: She doesn't seem to mind the aroma of wolf.
chris107: No documents or amulets?
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, which one do you think should we interrogate?
Smon: Searching them, Hakeem finds rather flaccid coin pouches, one holds an iron key.
chris107: Few do
Smon: No amulets.
chris107: H looks shocked that any are alive
chris107: Room key maybe?
Smon: They look pretty dead.
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: I will cast "Speak with Dead" on the one who had the key.
chris107: My work here is done
Smon: It's quite large, might match the Inn back door.
Kjato Ragfoot: Nothing, not even death, stops clerics of Athena from learning what they need to know.
Smon: The dead Tharbrian's eyes snap open in a ruined face. "WHAT DO YOU WANT?"
Kjato Ragfoot: First of all, what is the key for?
chris107:
Smon: "TO OPEN DOOR."
chris107: H is still a bit spooked by magic
Kjato Ragfoot: Which door?
chris107: especially with the things he's just killed
Smon: Sora puts a hand on Hakeem's shoulder. "Do not worry."
Smon: "INN DOOR."
chris107: H's huge muscles bunch under her touch
Kjato Ragfoot: Second, why did you abduct that woman?
Smon: "PAID TO."
Kjato Ragfoot: Who paid you?
Smon: "SLAVER."
Kjato Ragfoot: What is the slavers name?
Smon: "HIRGE"
Smon: The corpse's eyes close.
Kjato Ragfoot: Where do we find Hirge?
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah. Damn it.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, are you interessted in cutting someone called "Hirge" who works as a slaver into tiny shreds?
chris107: Darn
chris107: H prods the dead body with Bloodletter to see if it helps
Smon: It doesn't.
chris107: "Yes Please!
Smon: Sora: "Next time I'll set my guards before the door..."
Kjato Ragfoot: That sounds like a good idea.
8:14pm  2015-11-26 chris107 Has exited the room
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, do we want to pay that Hirge a visit tonight or should we get some sleep first?
8:17pm  2015-11-26 chris107 Has entered the room
Smon: Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, do we want to pay that Hirge a visit tonight or should we get some sleep first?
chris107: tonight
chris107: H is still cross
chris107: very cross
Smon: Sora: "If you don't mind I shall return to the inn and finish my bath - this alley is quite stinky."
Smon: OOC how many rages left H?
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. Good idea.
Kjato Ragfoot: We need to ask where we find Hirge anyway.
chris107: (3)
Smon: ? You had 4 at the start of the day, yes?
Smon: Then Chimerae...
chris107: 1 and 1 berserk with Chimera
chris107: 1 short rest to get back exhaustion
Smon: 4-2=2?
chris107: yes, sorry. 1
Smon: I think you only used 1 vs the chimerae, so 2 left.
chris107: (As I mentioned earlier. I drove to my house in Bath today and didn't pick up any of my books)
Smon: (You need to keep Hakeem on a piece of paper in your breast pocket at all times!)
chris107: (You are right. I had packed all my notes up in a satchel. But left it in my kitchen in Yorkshire  )
Smon: GM: You return to the One-Eyed Hound Inn with Sora, she asks you to summon her guards and set them at the bathroom door while she finishes her bath.
Smon: (I do that sort of thing too. Must be our advancing years. Always amazed how my son Bill remembers stuff!)
chris107: (He's young!  )
Smon: Yep!
Kjato Ragfoot: (There is still more space left in his brain. Ours are already full of experiences and it is more difficult to find a certain thought)
Smon: Of course the third Balvenie I just poured might not help, but is some consolation.
chris107:
chris107: Very true Kjato
chris107: I am now within 15' of my Whisky cabinet
Smon: Just after Sora re-enters the bathroom, the buxom Skandik barmaid Helga approaches from the main hall, looking worried. "What happened?"
chris107: But sticking to white wine. Don't want H going all Jock-mad!
Smon: (I feel that w/out Rey it's hardly worth linking Helga's pic...)
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. Some slavers tried to abduct Sora.
chris107: (H is happily married)
Smon: Helga's eyes widen.
chris107: (OOC she's involved!)
Kjato Ragfoot: Some loser called Hirge. We plan to pay him a visit later, you do not by chance know where to find him?
chris107: (Detect Lie?)
Smon: "Did - did you find a key on them? The spare back door key went missing two days ago, uncle Bara was fearing it stolen."
chris107: (She lies!)
Smon: /roll d20
Kjato Ragfoot: (I cound on the surprise effect and a +5 Wis-modifier on Insight checks)
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 12,
Smon: Helga thinks. "Hirge... Name rings a bell. A Slaver - if he's in town you'd find him at the Serpent's Lodge, south of the river."
chris107: H shaprpens Bloodletter
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. And is this your key? We found it outside.
chris107: Grinning at the thought of spilling more claret
Smon: Helga watches Hakeem sharpen bloodletter, wide-eyed. "Y-yes, that's the key. Why would Hirge want your priestess? There are many more beautiful girls, and younger..."
chris107: "Then lets pay this fellow a visit?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Most likely someone had a fetish for priestesses and paid a premium.
Kjato Ragfoot: There are very sick people out there.
Smon: Helga nods. "I see."
chris107: KILL THEM ALL
Smon: Helga: "The Serpent's Lodge is full of Slavers - dozens, probably..."
chris107: Excellent
chris107: More blood to spill!
chris107: Oops. Been good.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem! What did I see about pointless violence?
chris107: H sulks
chris107:
Smon:
chris107: erm is any violence pointless Thurs?
chris107: They did try to take our chum?
Kjato Ragfoot: We will of course not kill them, but just very convincingly tell them that they should refrain from abducting priestesses.
chris107: And slavery is bad
chris107: H hates slavery
chris107: But will follow the advice of his friend
Kjato Ragfoot: Now, confronting them with such kind of wisdom might cause them permanent damage, but that is not the end, just an accident.
chris107:
chris107: H imagines all kind of bloody accidents
Smon: Helga: "If you're going south of the river, best be careful. The Serpent's Lodge is a great stone inn, dwarf built like this one. You can't miss it."
chris107: Let us rest. Then do war upon these miscreants
chris107: Destroy their wicked slaver base once and for all.
chris107: H grins as he sharpens BL
chris107: daydreaming of masive war
Kjato Ragfoot: (Remember that I only have 4 spells left for this day)
chris107: OOC
chris107: I guess we either press on to kill Morr
chris107: or slay evry evil along the way?
chris107: Without R.
chris107: we need to be lean in our goals
Kjato Ragfoot: Slaying evil is always a good diversion. That being said, Thuruar is really pissed that somebody tried to abduct a priestess of Athena from an Inn and would like to dish out some of Athena's wisdom with a hammer.
chris107: H really wants to do war upon the Nerathi. Not nibble at the edges
chris107: *)
chris107:
8:45pm  2015-11-26 Amalric Has entered the room
chris107: H is ready to do war at Thur's behest
chris107: Graham!
Smon: !!!
Smon: Hi G
Amalric: evening
chris107: Rey has just been shagged to death
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello Graham.
Smon: That Alicia, MAN...
chris107: _108HP
Amalric: switch on of Christmas lights the Ferry (my posh) area of Dundee, been running kids around
Amalric: *in the
chris107: (Now you tell me you are posh!  )
Amalric: what, again? its okay, he's got more lives than a cat
Kjato Ragfoot: You just missed the part where Thuruar insists on killing a bunch of slavers and Hakeem having second thoughts about it.
Amalric: why would you do that?
chris107:
Amalric: just good men trying to make an honest living!
Amalric: or something like that
chris107: H butchered the kidnappers like dawwgs
Kjato Ragfoot: They tried to abduct Sora, a fellow priestess of Athena.
Amalric: ah yes, that is not so good
Smon: From the Inn you're staying at.
Kjato Ragfoot: Basically, snatching her right from under our noses.
chris107: We know (through Thur's divinations) who dun'it
Smon: Lucky she managed to cry out & Thuruar heard it!
chris107: So can KILL 'em now
chris107: Or wait until morning
chris107: When H will be back on top slaying form.
Smon: GM: I take it H & T return to the common room where Rey is dining with Alicia on his lap, send the temple guards to guard Sora, and brief Rey on events.
Kjato Ragfoot: (Basically, yes)
chris107: sounds okay to me
Smon: (was only a 1 in 6 chance of kidnapping attempt, but you know my rolls...)
chris107: (too good by half!)
chris107: H hates slavers. But wants to crack on and kill the Nerathi
chris107: ALL OF THEM
Amalric: kidnapping a priestess though?
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, NO!
Amalric: thats just wrong, lets kill the bastards
chris107: You don't miss a slice of a cut loaf?
Kjato Ragfoot: What did I say about killing Nerathi?
chris107: They want to kill the Altani Thur.
chris107: H is happy to kill slavers
Kjato Ragfoot: No, only the cultists of the Black Sun do.
chris107: Just worries about his poor wife waiting for a good ravishing
Smon:
Kjato Ragfoot: That is why I said: Kill all cultists of the Black Sun, help the other Nerathi.
chris107:
chris107: H tries to remember
chris107: But also is only really happy killing stuff
chris107: But will listen to his wiser friends
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 20,
chris107: Nice roll
chris107: or not..?
Kjato Ragfoot: For example, Amber was also a Nerathi and she was quite nice, wasn't she?
Amalric: wandering huge ancient red dragon, I'm assuming
chris107: Yeah and she got all burned up by the Chimera
chris107: I think you may be right G
chris107: H hacks the HARD to death
Smon: (Alicia INT check - and Alicia is smart) Alicia: "My guess would be these slavers had spies here to tell them when prospects arrived... Chances are they're listening to you right now."
Kjato Ragfoot: And that chimera was sent by the Black Sun.
Smon: She looks around the room.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 5,
chris107: H prepares to do war
Smon: /roll d20+1
Smon rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 1, (+1) = 2
Smon: She definitely doesn't see anything suspicious.
chris107: grrr
chris107: H tries?
chris107 rolls 1d20 and gets: 12,
Smon: 12+3=15
Amalric rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 13, (+3) = 16
Smon: H looks around. A halfling is heading out the door.
Amalric: Rey also looks about
chris107: H leaps at great speed to stop the little chap
chris107: "YOU?"
Smon: Two artists, a married couple by the look of it, are painting the portrait of a Skandik warrior.
chris107: He swishes the blue light of Bloodletter to make his point clear
chris107: And (at 10th?) tries to scare him
Smon: Rey also sees the Halfling - as H heads for it, the cloaked figure ducks out the door.
chris107: "STOP!" (frighten)
chris107: Cha mod 1
Amalric: Rey goes to follow Hakeem, taking Alicia by the hand as he goes
Smon: You head out the door... make perception checks.
Smon: /roll d20+5
Smon rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 19, (+5) = 24
Smon: DC 24, bad luck.
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 14, (+3) = 17
Amalric rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 13, (+4) = 17
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will remain seated.
Smon: No sign of the little fellow.
chris107: (hobbits are hard to scare  )
Smon: Alicia: "Probably a spy for the slavers!"
Amalric: "shifty little prick," remarks Rey
Kjato Ragfoot: We know where he is going to.
chris107: Then lets kill em all now?
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes.
Amalric: sure
chris107: Or forget them and go finish the Nerathi?
Kjato Ragfoot: I am quite certain the slavers are allied with the Black Sun.
chris107: H grins and waves BL around to generate some blue light to guide our way
Smon: GM: Looking south through the hamlet, you can see the broad expanse of Bellyston Ford itself, waters shining silver in the moonlight.
chris107: "Slavers (and those who keep them) will all DIE!"
Smon: Alicia: "Those who keep slaves will all die, Hakeem?"
chris107: can we follow the directions we were given earlier?
Smon: How's that memory?
chris107: "YES! Freedom is for all!"
chris107: (Working  )
Smon: Alicia looks to Rey, smiles sardonically.
Smon: If you can't remember, can INT check DC 10 for Hakeem.
Amalric: "What? You're no slave. And remember where I found you and what that guy wanted to do to you."
chris107: I remember
chris107 rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 15, (+4) = 19
Kjato Ragfoot: IT was south of the river, in the Snake Inn, built by dwarves.
chris107: (OOC do we have siege stuff?)
Smon: Alicia grins: "Glad to hear it 'Lord Reynard'. How about the girls you left in the stable back at the Temple-Tomb of Belaras?"
chris107: @simon: Are we still within Athenian lands?
Smon: Alicia: "And the only guy who wanted to do something to me was our murderous barbarian friend here!"
Smon: There are likely many Athena worshippers around here, yes.
Smon: But Bellystone is vassal to the Overlord.
Amalric: "Thats what I said! And the girls...it keeps them out of trouble."
Amalric: "And far worse fates."
chris107: "Thurs, can we let your chums sort this out while we go to Gate Keep?"
Amalric: "They'll all be free one day soon."
Smon: Alicia nods and smiles to Rey: "As you say."
Amalric: "Still, come the day when you're a famous sorceress, please remember me kindly. One day out of the dungeons per month is all I ask."
chris107: H remembers the bloody head of A in his hand, foul sorceress. But says nothing.
chris107: (H is very anti wizard)
Kjato Ragfoot: (H is generally rather anti)
chris107: (and anti slavery  )
Smon: H just lightly prodded her between her breasts, he never neld Alicia's bloody head.
chris107: (He keeps us alive  )
chris107: (That may yet change Simon  )
Smon: :F
Smon:
Smon: :F is a good vampire or Zehir-snake smilie!
chris107: (The ghost of Caspian Deverin is whispering in H's ear  )
Smon:
Smon: Only the good die young!
chris107: ( I miss Casp  )
Kjato Ragfoot: Then why is Hakeem still alive?
chris107:
Smon: Are you heading over the ford?
Smon: Now you've given the hobbit plenty of time to report back?
chris107: "So do we kill the filthy slavers now? Or go on with our quest?"
Amalric: "KIll them!!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Eh. I would say we go back, go to sleep and let the slavers quiver all night in fear of our attack.
chris107: OOC - I'd suggest letting the Athenian priesthood clear up while we go do war upon the Nerathi)
chris107: 2 mins, comfort break
Amalric: ditto!
chris107: back
chris107: three loos over 5 floors is great
Smon: GM: Are you going back to the inn & staying the night?
chris107: H will wait for his wise chums to choose.
chris107: He really is eager to kill Nerathi
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, let's go and take a nap.
Kjato Ragfoot: We can still kill some Nerathi tomorrow.
chris107: Lots of watches
chris107:
chris107: KILL NERATHI
Kjato Ragfoot: After all, we now know the slaver's spy. If we meet him again, we can feed him to the fishes.
chris107: Then H is free to kill Oriax
Smon: GM: You return to the Inn to spend the night, Hakeem sharing a room with Laara at her request.
Smon: The night passes without further molestation.
chris107: been a good boy of course
chris107: Only M for H
Smon: Laara: "I feel so safe with you..."  Next morning you meet Sora & her men at breakfast
Kjato Ragfoot: (We need a second Hakeem for Laara)
Smon: Sora: "I will come with you to Onhir, and introduce you to her ruler Prince Cuchulainn if you wish."
chris107: H polishes his huge blade ready for any event.
Kjato Ragfoot: That would be good. Thank you Sora.
chris107: Cuchulainn? As in Irish Hero?
Smon: Sora nods. "I owe you a favour."
Smon: (yes, also Elf Prince of Onhir)
Kjato Ragfoot: The king of the elven settlements between this town and the fortress of the Black SUn.
chris107: H gobbles up as much bacon & eggs as he can to last the day
Smon: GM: After breakfast you saddle up & ride south, crossing the shallow Bellystone ford.
chris107: "Thurs? Can your chums deal with these slavers?"
Kjato Ragfoot: No. The temple of Athena cannot wage war upon the tributaries of the Overlord.
chris107: (Bellystone has been driving me bonkers all week. Like Jellystone  )
Smon: A little south of the river you pass the stone inn the Serpent's Lodge; outside an Altanian slaver is readying a coffle of slaves for the day's march. Rey recognises him as Roth, a slaver of Ahyf town.
Amalric: a coffle?
chris107: H makes note to self to bring down the Overlord after the Nerathi, Red Reavers, Oriax etc. etc.
chris107: string of slaves
Amalric: "Better he takes them to Ahyf. We cant help them out here."
Smon: Roth - https://postmortemstudios.files.wordpress.com/2014/08/jimburns_explorersofgor.jpg
chris107: H makes note to add him to the Loooonnngggg list
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, wouldn't it be easier if you write a list with people you do not want to kill?
Smon:
chris107: mmmmm
chris107: probably
Smon: Lights and music issue forth from the South March tower on a hill overlooking the town - the Bards are in training!
chris107: (Hey! I never get chance to play psychotic barbarian  )
Smon: Heading on, you soon leave the ragged hamlet behind, heading south on the Old South Road.
chris107: (After long rest how does H's rage/berserk sit?)
Smon: There is a thunder of hooves behind you - you turn to see a squadron of the Overlord's red-tabarded soldiers on horse approach from the Tower.
chris107: Grrrr
Smon: You get your rages back & are not exhausted.
chris107:
chris107: Thanks
Smon: 1 hd restores 11 hp or roll.
chris107: 11 is fine thanks
Smon: You recover 5 hd, half your level.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, no killing of Overlord soldiers unless in self-defence.
chris107: 120/125HP
Smon: Sora: "We had best get off the road or they'll ride us down."
Smon: She wheels her horse aside.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will follow her.
chris107: (Just using old paper formats ago to write notes, headed: Isidore Deverin
chris107: H does too. Though unwillingly
chris107: H silently imagins burning down the CSIO)
Smon: The patrol thunders past you, riding south at speed.
Smon: You press on.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 3,
chris107: yay!
Smon: The day passes peacefully(!) as you ride south-east from Bellystone on the road, staying the night at an inn west of the mud flats, then press on next day.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Smon: Towards evening on the second day out from Bellystone, 21/4/4446, you see the high spires of Onhir ahead.
chris107: H is still not sure about elves.
chris107: But will be quiet and let his clever chums do their stuff.
Smon: To your left is the dark, dense expanse of misty Fogbound Forest, while heathlands and scattered woods stretch off to the west.
Smon: There is little sign of farming here, though the land seems fertile.
Amalric: "No farming here? Seems like ideal land for it," says the perceptive Rey
Smon: Sora: "They do not sow..." As you approach the white-walled city's northern gate, a horn blows high on the walls, and the gates open before you reach them.
Smon: Out rides a squad of six elven warriors in plate armour, astride white stallions.
Amalric: "Not sowing their wild oats? You've lost me somewhere..." D
Smon: Penants flutter in the breeze.
Kjato Ragfoot: They are magical, they let the oats sow themselves.
Kjato Ragfoot: Elves can make the trees walk.
chris107:
Amalric: Thats a talent
Smon: As they approach, the leader, a tall, grim looking elf, raises a hand in greeting. "Hail."
Smon: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdCP3STFR1nT2hSHNF862v0YSpUKQYstLkXt98jGQcNtOsRM4T9BQDEKrf5sJfRvjRSpUHOoapZN1xJcrgJY8VtTjHpEizmcur550j6WFll3ZrRY3ibYeqZowxjSM3Ophrbe14vFljgX8/s400/Elf.jpg
Smon: Sora: "Hail to thee, Lord Macluir."
Amalric: "Hail, sir!"
chris107: "Hail"
Amalric: (nice pic)
Smon: Macluir nods, surveying your group. "And who art thee?"
Kjato Ragfoot: I am Thuruar, a cleric of Athena.
chris107: Hakeem, of clan Greywolf
Amalric: "Reynard Mercelin."
Smon: Sora whispers: "Macluir is an Eldritch Knight of the 15th rank. Best to tread carefully before him."
chris107: H nods respectfully
Smon: Macluir nods: "We welcome those of good faith. What brings thee to Onhir?"
chris107: (All great warriors deserve respect)
Amalric: "Yes, I'd rather not talk any BS here. Maybe they can tell."
chris107: (If they can. You're buggered Graham  )
Smon: You can make Inight checks.
Smon: Insight
chris107: wis?
Smon: WIS + PROF
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+8 and gets: 3, (+8) = 11
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 20, (+3) = 23
chris107: Insightful Hakeem!
Smon: Hakeem thinks Macluir seems tense, but is hiding it well.
chris107: "Sire? Have you been expecting us?"
Amalric: (Rey is in the company of friends, he's sure they can keep secrets  )
Smon: Macluir shakes his head.
chris107: (hehe)
Amalric: "Then what ails you? You appear troubled, milord, if you'll forgive my saying so."
chris107: H again nods respectfuly and leaves the talking to his smart chums
Smon: Sora: "I am escorting my companions here to Onhir, to seek a guide over the mountains to Anatal."
Smon: Rey never rolled a check.
Amalric: no, I just thought if H can see it must be bloody obvious
chris107: (Is this the way to Anatalo?)
Amalric: (or he might have told us)
Smon: Rolled a 20!
chris107: But he's not female Simon!
Amalric: might say a lot about Hakeem's inner urges...
Amalric: maybe Malenn is just a front?
chris107: (Rey better hope not  )
Smon: Macluir nods to Sora. "The priests of Athena are welcome here. Come."
Smon: The elven knights escort you into their fair city, cleaner and more airy than anything you've seen before.
Amalric: (haha! good point!)
chris107: H looks around in wonder
Amalric: "Wow! So this is how the other half live!"
Smon: A few human traders and many elves watch as you pass through the marbled streets to the royal palace, past delicate sculptures millenia old, fountains playing in vine-wrapped plazas.
Smon: Macluir smiles slightly at Rey's comment. "The glory of the Elves is not yet entirely past."
Smon: /roll d20+3
Smon rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 15, (+3) = 18
Smon: Sora whispers to Thuruar: "Something troubles him, though he seeks not to show it."
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem must have sensed it as well, that would explain his question.
chris107: H grips the hilt of Bloodletter but says nothing. Just been aware..
Smon: In the palace courtyard you dismount, elven grooms take your steeds, and Macluir escorts you in to the palace.
Smon: After a short wait you are brought in to the throneroom, not huge but thronged with perhas three dozen elvenfolk.
Smon: Evening sunlight glimmers through high crystal windowpanes.
Smon: At the far end of the long hall, the Prince of Onhir sits upon his throne.
Smon: Macluir ushers you forward.
Kjato Ragfoot: (How does one properly adress an elven prince?)
chris107: (?)
Smon: Prince Cuchulainn watches your approach with a neutral expression - http://img14.deviantart.net/bb2c/i/2012/201/1/f/collab__elven_king_by_vampyrus_azarus-d57yjs9.jpg
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 2,
chris107: nice pic
Smon: "Oi, Pointy Ears!" ?
Smon:
chris107:
chris107: H prepares to butcher half of elvenkind
Smon: (rolled 2 on INT check but feel free not to take my advice)
chris107: (OOC - Elven Eldritch Knight  )
chris107: (Very  )
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar, wise as he is, will wait till Sora addressed the elf (with whom she seems familiar) and greet him likewise.
chris107: Come on my silver tongued chums
Smon: Cuchulainn raises a hand in greeting. Sora curtsies, Alicia following her lead gracefully, Laara awkwardly.
chris107: H just grunts and nods respectful again
Amalric: (half of elven-kind, or half-elven kind?  )
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar bows.
chris107: (All of 'em)
Smon: The Temple guards bow. Amdor the Mighty coughs, bows, speaks: "Hail, oh mighty Elven Monarch!"
Amalric: Rey bows deeply and waits to be spoken to
Smon: The Prince nods.
Smon: Amdor straightens. "My Liege, we have journeyed far, across mighty oceans..."
Smon: "...To be here today."
Smon: Sora straightens, looks to Amdor, frowns.
chris107: (The Amdor?!   )
Amalric: Rey nudges Amdor in the ribs with his elbow. "Hush, you fool."
Kjato Ragfoot: (Well, who knows in which dusty tome he read that stuff)
Smon: "I am Amdor the Mighty, Wizard Lord of the Ghinarian Hills. For a thousand sunsets I have stood guard upon the worlds of Men... *ouch*"
Smon: Amdor glares at Rey.
chris107: hehe
chris107: H has always liked Amdor
Amalric: Rey shakes his head, unmoved
Kjato Ragfoot: (I should have remembered to buy him a new pointy hat, with cool bells at the spikes)
Smon: Cuchulainn smiles slightly sardonically. "Welcome, Lord Amdor. And your companions?"
chris107: "Hakeem Greywolf. Mighty prince."{
Smon: Amdor: "The sharp-elbowed one is Reynard Mercellin, a rogue of Ahyf..."
Amalric: "What?!" protests Rey
Smon: Laara: "I am Laara Greywolf of the Midnight Goddess Hills, your majesty."
chris107: (That's been generous!  )
Amalric: "I am a vassal of Lords Vilius Theber and Hytirus Vex, if you don't mind, and a Knight of Selatine."
Amalric: (he's not from Ahyf!  )
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar, a humble cleric of Athena.
chris107: (And the biggest slut in the Wilderlands? - OOC )
Smon: Alicia: "Alicia Scarnetti, formerly a lady of Sandpoint, companion to the Lord Reynard Mercellin, Herald of the Ghinarian Lords." She sticks her tongue out at Amdor.
chris107:
chris107: Amdor is wise
Amalric: (SLUT?!?!?? That is so un.....couth.  )
Smon: Sora: "And you know me your majesty, Sora Menekakhos, of the Temple of the Lady of Wisdom."
chris107: (Truth hurts?  )
Amalric: (No, but one has to object just a little merely on principle)
Smon: The Prince nods regally. "I bid you all welcome. Most of you have come far. What brings you to Onhir?"
chris107: (hehe)
chris107: (Please someone else answer that)
chris107: (Or H is likely to get us all hanged)
Smon: Amdor: "A great quest, your Majesty. Even now Evil stretches forth its hand over the Wilderlands..."
Smon: "...Fortunately I, last of the Order of Mystic Sages, yet stand guard against the Day of Doom."
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: (He is Rincewind Cudgel the Obnoxious, isn't he?)
Smon: Amdor edges away from Rey's elbows.
chris107: hehe
Smon: Amdor: "I met these young adventurers in a dark and deadly dungeon, the Lichway..."
chris107: H is impressed with the mighty wizard (and has always been nic to him  )
Amalric: "Oh please stop."
Amalric: Rey has had enough
Smon: "...Where I discovered that the cabal known as Neo-Nerath seeks... "
chris107: "He tells the truth mighty prince."
Smon: He turns to Rey: "What? You go on, then!"
Amalric: "We met this fellow in the Lichway. He claims great knowledge but I have yet to see him actually cast a spell."
Amalric: "We are here because we are on our way to other parts, to complete a great task."
Smon: "Spellcraft is not to be employed lightly..."
chris107: "Amdor, ignore the rude chap!"
Smon: Amdor nods to Hakeem.
Amalric: (Which I uh...can't recall! Closing a portal? Taking down Nerath? That kinda thing  )
chris107:
chris107: (KILL THEM ALL)
Amalric: Rey would know it better than I
Smon: Why?
Kjato Ragfoot: What my well-spoken comrade wants to say, we just seek safe passage through your realm, as our quest leads us through toward the realm of the dwarves in the east and then further against the Black Sun.
Smon: Rey spends all his time shagging.
Amalric: yes, that
chris107: grrr
Amalric: wish I could say the same
Kjato Ragfoot: We wish to prevent a war between the Altani and the cult of the Black Sun, who tries to suffocate the Ghinarian Hills in unlife.
chris107: (It's chore all the time Graham)
Smon: (@G you & me both mate!) Sora nods: "Milord Prince, we seek a guide over the mountains."
Amalric: (fair point, that must be my reasoning)
Smon: Cuchulainn nods. "These are troubled times. You have heard that the Princess Valadai of Anatal is missing?"
chris107: ?
Amalric: "I don't believe we have? That is troubling news indeed."
Amalric: (whoever she is  )
Kjato Ragfoot: There were rumours something was taken from your realm, but not that it is the princess.
Smon: Sora nods. Cuchulainn: "And last night, human brigands made attempt upon our own Priestess Kirilis, here in Onhir. They failed..."
chris107: "We will be happy to get her back fair Prince. And slay the miscreants responsible."
chris107: "And kill all the brigands." He adds artlessly
Smon: Macluir steps forward: "Those who assiled Kirilis are already dead. But it may be connected to your own quest."
chris107: (Hey! H hasn't killed anything in ages!)
Smon: (stopping soon, maybe play on Sunday so you can kill more?)
Kjato Ragfoot: (Fine with me)
Amalric: (Sundays not good for me)
chris107: (I have London friends visiting for the next fe days. Likely not free 'till next Thursday  )
chris107: (Feel free to let H loose on anyone though  )
Kjato Ragfoot: (That would allow Rey and Thuruar to gain some XP on Hakeem)
Smon: (ok) Cuchulainn: "Valadai is sister to Queen Cildarith of Anatal, west over the mountains."
Smon: Amdor nods gravely. "The hour grows dark, great Prince. Now is the time for all the Free Peoples of Middle..."
chris107: hehe
Smon: "...Altanis, to unite together! A Last Alliance of Men and Elves...."
chris107: I knew I liked Amdor!
chris107: He is Gandalf/Paladine/Amdor!
Amalric: He is Gollum/Amdor
chris107:
chris107: (Well H has been nice to him)
Smon: "...My companions and I must journey into the Heart of Darkness, the Gate Castle of the Black Sun, to close the Gate and Restore the Light! For what is Right!"
chris107: YAY!
Smon: "Hoping against Hope, to find our way Home!"
chris107: (And kill lots of stuff)
Amalric: (maybe we can shove him in before we close it)
chris107: (Rey is such meanie)
Kjato Ragfoot: I would have put it less magnified, but basically, Amdor is right.
chris107:
Amalric: "Maybe he'll click his heels together a few times while saying, 'There's no place like home! There's no place like home!'..."
Smon: Cuchulainn nods, and there is a smattering of applause from the crowd. The Prince turns to Thuruar, nods.
Smon: "What do you know of the threat?"
chris107: H gives a broad smile to his friend Amdor's words
Kjato Ragfoot: We know that a small group of Nerathi has joined a dark cult, that opened a portal to the nether realms.
Kjato Ragfoot: That they worship the Black Sun and are masters of the undead.
chris107: grrrr
Kjato Ragfoot: That they are zealots who wish nothing but death as revenged for perceived wrongs.
chris107: (If H perishes, picking up Amdor to play could be great fun  )
Smon: LOL
Smon: Cuchulainn nods. "This accords with the rumours we have heard, from the West. We will give you a guide, and letter of introduction to Anatal and Chacban. The dwarves of Chacban lie closest to the Gate Castle of the Black Sun. Their realm is almost surrounded by New Nerath, now."
Smon: "Now, let us feast."
Smon: ooc stopping there
chris107: Yay!
chris107: Thanks Simon. Great game chaps
Smon: Bit low key, maybe more fight next time.
Amalric: heh, nice
Amalric: cheers Simon

6:59pm  2015-11-22 Smon Has entered the room
Smon: Hi guys
chris107: Hi Simon
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello Smon
Smon: I just posted a reminder to the thread for Graham.
7:01pm  2015-11-22 Kjato Ragfoot Has exited the room
Smon: If he can't make it I guess Rey shall be preoccupied with his new toys from last session...
chris107: hehe
Smon: Twirling his baton, as it were.
Smon: Putting her through her paces.
Smon: Perhaps carving his initial R into blousons like Zorro, or into tree trunks since it's +1.
chris107: Oh yeah, magical rapier!
Smon: Why, what did you think I was referring to?!
chris107: I dread to think
7:06pm  2015-11-22 Kjato Ragfoot Has entered the room
Kjato Ragfoot: Anyone here?
Smon: Hi Kjato
Smon: You got bumped?
chris107: yup
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes.
Kjato Ragfoot: All right. Everything should be working again.
Smon: I'll start in a couple minutes, just brewing some tea & seeing if Graham shows up.
Smon: I expect he forgot.
Kjato Ragfoot: God.
Kjato Ragfoot: Good.
chris107: I'll grab a coffee then 2 mins
chris107: back
Smon: GM: By the time Hakeem & Rey finish looting Agollos and return to the Inn, a small crowd has joined Laara, Amdor and Alicia in watching events. Amdor appears to have been gambling with the dwarf Mitra-priestess on whether Agollos would escape, and the mighty wizard is now happily collecting his winnings.
chris107: Any sign of written orders etc. on the bodies?
chris107: Any thin Nerathilike?
Smon: Thuruar and the two Athenian temple guards had emerged from the Inn in time to watch the end of the battle; Rey & Hakeem chasing the two strangers down the road and killing them.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar shakes his head and mumbles something about Kaag not the only Altanian needing wisdom.
Smon: Searching Agollos' body, Hakeem finds a telltale Black Sun amulet on a silver chain. It is glimmering redly.
chris107: take their horses too
chris107: H holds this aloft
chris107: to demonstrate the fellows guilt.
Smon: Thuruar watches as Rey and Hakeem go chasing off after the skittish horses...
chris107: He then tramples it underfoot.
Smon: Hakeem raising something aloft and then stamping on it.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will get there and look what the hell those two are up to.
Smon: Thuruar hears a yelp from behind him and turns to see a dishevelled priestess Sora being manhandled out of the Inn by the burly innkeeper, half-ogre by the look of him, and several inn-guards or 'bouncers'
Kjato Ragfoot: Sora was the priestess guiding us?
Smon: Yes. Her guards glare, hands on sword hilts. The Innkeep yells to Thuruar, Sora and everyone else. "NO KILLIN' GUESTS! You can't keep your men under control, you ain't drinkin' in 'ere."
Smon: Thuruar is currently halfway out the courtyard.
Smon: Sora: "Unhand me!" She shakes herself free and shouts to her men: "Get the horses! We're going!"
Smon: The Innkeep turns to Amdor, Alicia, Laara - "You lot too! Git!"
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, Rey, what was that about?
Smon: By the time Hakeem & Rey have secured the two horses, the rest of their party has been expelled from the Inn (with horses) and the gate shut behind them.
chris107: "He was an agent of the Black Sun!2
Smon: Sora glares angrily at Rey and Hakeem. "You can't just go around killing people!"
Kjato Ragfoot: I fully agree with Sora.
chris107: "Ermmmm why not?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Being members of the Black Sun or no, we cannot go around attacking people except in self-defence.
Kjato Ragfoot: Because it make us look like the evil guys.
Smon: Sora: "Southerners! I despair!"
chris107: "He was a Nerathi agent. He would have given us away."
Kjato Ragfoot: And the Black Sun look like the good guys.
chris107: "Bah, tell us that when your family are raised as zombies!" H sulks
Smon: Sora: "If a patrol comes this way they'll be set to hunt us down! I should leave you and return to the Temple..."
chris107: H shrugs
Kjato Ragfoot: See, that is the problem.
Kjato Ragfoot: If you now tell people they raise their families as zombies and they tell it will be done only if your family is found guilty of a horrible crime, they will believe the Black Sun.
chris107: "Then we kill the Nerathi patrols."
Kjato Ragfoot: There are no Nerathi patrols here.
chris107:
Smon: Sora nods: "It'll be a Zothay patrol, you idiot!"
Smon: She tries to calm down, face red. "I've never been so... Athena give me strength!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Do not attack.
Kjato Ragfoot: We are not in an area of war here, but in an area of peace.
chris107: "Bah. Let's go finish this war then."
Kjato Ragfoot: Defend yourself if attacked, but do not go around and kill people.
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: We cannot win this war if you continue attacking people outside your tribal homelands.
Kjato Ragfoot: Also, remember, death does not stop the Black Sun. His superiors will have learnt as much from their agents death as from his message.
chris107: Then let us be off to Gate Castle and lay it in ruins.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will destroy the Black Sun amulet with Sacred Fire if he has the chance before leaving.
Smon: Sora: "I guess... I'll take you to Bellystone. Then we'll see."
Smon: Thuruar melts the Black Sun amulet with divine radiance.
chris107: yay
Smon: GM: You mount up and ride on, the noonday sun high overhead.
Smon: Beyond the Murmuring Stream you have left behind the bleak expanse of the Arthiop Mud Flats on your west; now the road parrallels the mighty River Mageven as you ride north-west.
Smon: To the right stretches the redlands of the Altani Plain, dotted here and there with herds of wild horses.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
Smon:
chris107: oops
Smon: /roll d8
chris107: on form tonight Simon
Smon rolls 1d8 and gets: 6,
Smon: Time passes, the sun begins to lower towards the western mountains, known here as the Erad Perack. Sora: "Just a few more miles to the crossroads, we'll reach Bellystone by nightfall..."
Smon: /roll d100
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets: 42,
Kjato Ragfoot: Most likely, the gods have cursed us for the lack of hospitality Hakeem has shown at the Inn, and will interfere with our journey.
Smon: For a moment the sun seems to shimmer, the light strange, almost - black? "ROAARRR!!"
chris107: "Something for you guys to peace to death?"
Smon: Out of the Sun descend two flying black forms, huge, bestial, three-headed - Chimerae!
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 3,
chris107: H draws Bloodletter and prepares his shield
Kjato Ragfoot: No, but the gods will send endless fights for those who fight needlessly.
chris107: Spread out!
Smon: Luckily they didn't achieve Surprise - you have time to draw steel as they descend on your band of riders. The priestess Amber screams in terror. Alicia groans: "Not again!"
Smon: Sora glances at Thuruar as she draws her shortsword: "The gods have cursed us, indeed!"
chris107: Hakeem belows a challange and will rage when they are close enough to engage.
Smon: OOC Did Hakeem take damage in the Inn fight?
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will prepare shield and shortsword to protect himself.
chris107: Mmmmmmm Do you have a note of H's HP please Simon. I still have him on full here.

Smon: brb whisky
chris107: Nay lady, let us rest for an hour and I will be fit to carry on.
chris107: yum
Smon: Sora looks unsure, but nods.
chris107: If we are taking a short rest H will use 6 healing dice and recover 1 level of exhaustion. Maybe pulling the teeth of the Chimera?
chris107: (They will make a nice neclace for Malenn)
chris107 rolls 6d12+30 and gets: 5, 8, 10, 7, 8, 8, (+30) = 76

chris107: yay!
Smon: While Hakeem is collecting Chimera teeth and Amdor is brewing you all up a nice cup of tea, Sora approaches Thuruar.
Smon: Sora: "These monsters... I have heard of such beasts - in legends - but never seen such. They are unnatural. On this road one might see wolves, orcs perhaps. Wild boar. But this..."
Smon: She waves with her hand at the corpse hulks. "Powerful forces oppose your quest."

Smon: Thuruar, when the Chimerae came out of the darkened sun, for a moment you seemed to see it surrounded by a great serpent, the ouroboros, eating its own tail. An ancient symbol of Set, who the Nerathi call Zehir.
Smon: Sora: "I see by your eyes you saw it, too."
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: Indeed, I did.
Kjato Ragfoot: Even though I do not understand why even Set would support the Black Sun.
Smon: Image at the bottom of this page - http://4esouthlands.blogspot.co.uk/2011/09/neo-nerath.html
Smon: Sora critted her check
chris107: It seems the Nerathi have many wicked gods
Smon: Sora nods: "Many of the Neo-Nerath have turned to Zehir, as they call him. He has displaced the goodly Mitra in their lore."
Kjato Ragfoot: That is bad news indeed.
Kjato Ragfoot: They left wisdom and light, on a path that leads only to darkness.
Kjato Ragfoot: It also explains why they killed Amber first, the poor girl who only wanted to serve her people.
Smon: She looks to the sun, now touching the western mountains, and nods again. "Aye. Dark days are coming, if they cannot be stopped."
Smon: She nods again.
Smon: GM: You all have a nice cup of tea, then are ready to move on.
Smon: Thuruar are you spending any hd?

Smon: You need a funeral pyre for the Mitraic Rite.
chris107: "Would the bodies of these foul creatures make an acceptable funeral pyre?"
chris107: (been horridly cynical I guess the Chimera gave her a good funeral?)
chris107: H will do what the wise folk think best.
Kjato Ragfoot: Unlikely. But Thuruar will still speak the proper rites about her ashes.
Smon: (:D) You can gather sticks & set her a proper pyre.
chris107: Your call Kjato
Smon: Thuruar says a few words as the flames rise.
Smon: The sun sets, dusk falls.
Smon: Sora: "We must press on and reach Bellystone Ford tonight."
chris107: "Let's move."
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. Indeed.
Smon: You ride.
Kjato Ragfoot: And Hakeem, remember, no more killing of humans unless in self-defense as long as we are in civilized lands.
chris107: H nods
Smon: A few miles brings you to a crossroads, where the main body of the Old South Road runs north/right, and splits Y-shaped SE (the way you came) and S. Sora directs you south.
Smon: Full dark has just fallen, the stars and the silver gleam of Heaven's Bridge overhead in the night sky, as you top a rise and see a sprawling rough hamlet on both sides of the Mageven River where it runs shallow over hard stones.
Smon: Off to the right across the ford a great tower looms on a hilltop, overlooking the town.
Smon: Sora: "We should find an Inn. I would bathe and get the filth of the road from me."
Kjato Ragfoot: That sounds like a good idea.
Smon: She could also be bothered by the pyre soot in her eyes and hair.
chris107: And a touch of chimera blood
9:23pm  2015-11-22 Oculus Orbus Has entered the room
Oculus Orbus: Hi, boys

Smon: Entering you find it packed with travellers, you are among the last to arrive tonight.
chris107: "Beer!"
Smon: The Innkeeper, a stout fellow, greets you amiably. "Beer it is, friends!"
Smon: A buxom Skandik serving wench shows you to a table and brings flagons of foaming Skandik ale.
chris107: yum
chris107: H passes her a golden coin
Oculus Orbus: (Telly Savalas played Blofeld in OHMSS)
Smon: Sora: "I would like a bath - and a private room." She passes over a gold coin.
chris107: (Kojakrect)
Smon: The maid nods. "Certainly ma'am."
Oculus Orbus: (Thus, it is the best Bond filem)
Smon: You notice a squad of soldiers in livery drinking nearby. Their red tabards show a golden pegasus & rider.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 19,
chris107: do we recognise the livery?
Smon: Thuruat recognises the emblem - the Overlord of the City State.
Smon: These must be his meb
Smon: men.
Kjato Ragfoot: They are from the City State of the Invincible Overlord.
Smon: ooc will stop in a few mins.
Kjato Ragfoot: Probably on patrol to spare travellers from having to fight beasts like those that waylaid our travels.
chris107: Can we hear what they are discussing?
Smon: Sora nods. "Yes. There is a garrison at South March Tower - the great tower we saw on the hill across the river. There is also a Bardic college there, led by Cairnol."
Smon: Hakeem can hear them discussing the assets of the blonde Skandik maid who just poured your drinks.
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. Well. You have what you have.
Oculus Orbus: bye guys
Smon: He also hears: "You can't go with her, Dolgath - firstly she'd never go with an ape-face like you. Secondly, Travar Angus'd have your guts for garters if you miss curfew!"
chris107: Well we were very lucky to survive this evening
chris107: bye occs
9:34pm  2015-11-22 Oculus Orbus Has exited the room
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. I will go ask the barman about the curfew.
chris107: Best we get some rooms then?
Kjato Ragfoot: That we should do anyway.
Kjato Ragfoot: But we need to know when we can start our journey the next day.
chris107: we do indeed.wise as always.
Smon: Thuruar goes up to the bar and asks the innkeep about curfew. He nods. "Aye, the Tower closes tight at the ninth hour, all the soldiers not on leave had best be back by then."
Smon: He scratches his balding head. "Oh, you thought they curfewed the TOWN?! Naw."
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah, so we can make as early a start tomorrow as we like?
Kjato Ragfoot: That is good to hear.
chris107: H passes another gold coin for a room
chris107: and another for Laara
Smon: The Innkeep takes the gold. "Thank'ee, but I only have three rooms left and the priestess took one - some of you will have to share."
Kjato Ragfoot: Still, we would like to rent rooms for the night if you have any left.
Smon: Laara smiles: "I think I feel safer with you in the room with me, Hakeem!"
chris107: H shrugs
Kjato Ragfoot: It is Amdor, two guards, Hakeem and Thuruar?
Kjato Ragfoot: And Rey and Alicia?
Kjato Ragfoot: In that case we will simply take both rooms left.
Kjato Ragfoot: And see how we get everyone inside.
chris107: if not H will find a handy stable
Smon: GM: The maid returns. "Your bath is ready, ma'am." She nods and rises. "Thank you."
Smon: GM: Think I'll stop there, before Inn shenanigans.
Kjato Ragfoot: It is two rooms with four people each, that should work.

Smon: Hi chris
Smon: Is Graham around?
chris107: Hi Simon
chris107: Not yet, but he said he would be.
Smon: ok cool
chris107: Shame Kjato can't be with us. He keeps us on the straight and narrow.
Smon: :_
Smon:
Smon: Yeah, makes good ballast for the team.
chris107: and boy do we need it?
Smon:  I was thinking do around 2.5 hrs today, another 2.5 hours Sunday.
chris107:
chris107: just grab a ciggie while we wait for G
chris107: back
chris107: Have PM'd Graham
Smon: thanks
Smon: >>chris107: "Kaag, you must lead our people. You will have need of wisdom." Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, Kaag. Your place is here - we will need your wisdom to win this war. Smon: Kaag looks to Hakeem, nods. "Aye. If... " he turns to Thuruar. "Stay here?!" Kjato Ragfoot: The Nerathi cannot be defeated without a wise leader for the Altanians. chris107: Nice session guys! Thanks Simon Amalric: yes, good game! Amalric: thought Rey had bought it this time Amalric: bad dragon turtle Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. Stay here. Learn wisdom. Teach strength. Who knows, you might learn to like this place. Smon: Kaag: "I come to crush Nerath! Win glory! There is no glory in these halls..." chris107: DEAD Dragon Turtle Smon: Thuruar give me a CHA check (Persuasion) Kjato Ragfoot: There is plenty glory. I will show you tomorrow. Smon: d20+5 Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20 and gets: 18, chris107: Yay! Smon: nice chris107: Kjato Ragfoot: That is 23 Smon: Kaag nods. "I... Tomorrow I will see what you have to say."<<
chris107: H is not big on wisdom
Smon: GM: So that night your party feasts on goat meat with the Temple Priests in their hall.
Smon: Is there anyone you wanted to talk to while it's just Hakeem?
chris107: H would speak with Kaag
chris107: Ask if his mother ever talked about his father?
Smon: GM: At dinner Hakeem and Kaag are busy tearing into haunches of roast goat. Kaag looks a bit uncomfortable at Hakeem's question and pauses, juice running down his chin.
Smon: "Your father - brave warrior. Killed Eight Feathered Bear the day he died. I was there - young then. I saw him die."
chris107: H looks on. saying nothing
chris107: looking for signs of a lie
Smon: Insight is WIS I believe, Prof +4 -1 for WIS = +3
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 3, (+3) = 6
chris107:
Smon: DC 5 is enough to tell that Kaag seems uncomfortable/evasive.
Smon: Kaag is not a great bluffer.
chris107: "Kaag. I gave you my support at the clanmoot."
chris107: "You will need it again."
Smon: Kaag nods.
chris107: "Tell me what you know."
Smon: Kaag looks up, quite shrewdly. "You heard something? You are worried?"
chris107: "Worried? No."
Smon: OT - using this pic for Amdor the Mighty's "self image" http://orig04.deviantart.net/ea6d/f/2012/243/a/8/wizard_by_gerezon-d5d1i0h.jpg
chris107: Amdor!
Smon: Kaag takes another bite of goat. "Old Hakeem was good warrior. He was mated with Gnubis. He died, before you were born."
chris107: "If Yusan is my father. We may be able to ask his help."
Smon: Kaag stops chewing. "Ah. You know. You not supposed to know."
chris107: ..........
chris107: "Tell me."
Smon: Kaag frowns. "I not Wise One... " he sighs. "The Clan Moot, nine months before you born. Your father was not there, scouting in the hills. Great Red Tiger warrior from the South - Yusan. All the women fell for him. They say he visited Gnubis' tent... Then you born. But then Yusan Outcast - murdered Red Tiger Defender. Gnubis say you Old Dead Hakeem's son.
chris107: just grab a quick G&T brb
chris107: Phew.....
chris107: H looks at his map
Smon: Kaag quaffs a pitcher of wine. "That is what I recall. But might be wrong - best you talk to the damn Wise Women. Or your mother."
chris107: H nods moodily
chris107: figuring out how long it would take him to jog back to Yusan's HQ
Smon: A long time to jog back to the Vale
chris107: just looking at the map
Smon: make me an INT check, add prof
chris107 rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 9, (+4) = 13
Smon: Found the old players map online - http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/9684276/images/1273311092387.jpg
chris107: Ah yes. It is a long way.
chris107: But hakeem is pretty singleminded when he chooses to be.
Smon: GM: Hakeem thinks Kaag's facts can't be quite straight - Yusan was only outlawed 15 years ago, when Hakeem was already 3 or 4 years old.
chris107: ahhhhhh
chris107: H is not good with sums
chris107: He shrugs
chris107: "I'm ready for the off."
chris107: "Lets head out and finish this."
Smon: But basically it seems to fit.
chris107: H goes to bed unusually early. Missing Malenn and killing stuff has unsettled him.
Smon: GM: Next morning Kaag spends long hours in conversation with Thuruar, while Hakeem Rey Laara & co are summoned to meet with the Chief Priest and his deputy.
chris107: H goes grumpilly
Smon: A novice ushers you into the meeting hall - you see Sora, the deputy, no longer in white robes, now she wears something approximating a breastplate - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF-wLDMZh_HF6xjGlkqTmIoro0OidhLrxcF1ebZIQaq_yRaEGfROxINhqCFkgBr0nzcJq7wVoMGIICCvFf_VLdaqeAd4EXE2Vh-2pFO2xO7yIunyFHHj6sL22SRJvW-X0EURg6OUMefLw/s400/Athena2.jpg
chris107: Ah yes
Smon: Vanir Tholemestes the chief priest wears the dark robe befitting his rank - http://orig03.deviantart.net/620e/f/2011/105/3/d/reed___cleric_of_pharasma_by_ruloc-d3e0xqd.jpg
chris107: A nice new pic
Smon: Vanir is sat behind a large cherry-wood desk, likely City State manufacture, while Sora lounges on a recliner. Vanir stands as you enter, bidding you sit on the recliners/chaise lounges. "Welcome."
chris107: H nods
chris107: and sits
Smon: Vanir talks as a male slave serves Athenian wine. "Sora has briefed me on your quest. You have far to go, into great danger. We would offer aid."
chris107: "Thank you."
Smon: Sora: "The Elves of Onhir and Anatal are our friends and allies. I will escort you to Onhir, where we may acquire an Elven Scout from Prince Cuchulainn to cross the mountains and reach Anatal. If this pleases you?"
chris107: "That would be a great help. We have far to travel and a friendly guide would be most welcome."
Smon: Sora nods. "You may not know - Anatal is the home of Aenor, greatest Smith of this age. If he favours you he can assist greatly - enchant your blades with Elf magics, provide armour that no mortal blade can pierce..."
chris107: "Then we must ask his aid."
chris107: "We mut leave as soon as we may."
chris107: "Bloodletter is thirsty."
Smon: Vanir nods. "I should warn you that rumour has reached us that all is not well in Anatal, that the sister of Queen Cildarith, Princess Valadai, is missing. It is possible that this is connected to the growing power of the Black Sun. If true, the Elves may be preoccupied. There is even the possibilty of hostage-blackmail."
chris107: Hakeem curses the Black Sun. (His natural Xenophobia maybe?)
Smon: Sora: "Horses are being made ready for us, and for my two guards. We leave within the hour."
chris107: Hakeem relaxes. Action will keep him busy and stop him fretting over his paternity
Smon: Vanir: "Is there anything else you would ask of us? I understand that Kaag Greywolf will stay here, to learn of Wisdom."
chris107: "If Kaag wishes it."
chris107: "he will make a fine chief one day."
Smon: Vanir nods noncomittally. "As you say."
Smon: GM: The meeting breaks up and you ready to depart.
Smon: You are joined by Thuruar, and by Kaag, looking very odd in a white robe.
chris107: H is unsure what wisdom can be learned in a frock
Smon: Kaag: "I have decided... to stay. With Wisdom I will be Chief. Then I will crush our enemies!" He grins.
Smon: Laara smiles: "That's the way to go, Kaag!"
chris107: H grins back
Smon: Amdor the Mighty: "Fine fellow!"
Smon: Alicia Scarnetti rolls her eyes.
chris107: Amdor!
Smon: Kaag: "Okay if I keep the Nerath slave (Gail) the Seawolf druid gave me? You still have one..." he points at Priestess Amber.
chris107: "I keep no slaves."
chris107: "Learn this wisom Kaag. Loyalty can not be bought."
Smon: Kaag looks to Rey, who grins back. "No worries."
chris107: H stalks off.
Smon: GM: Current expedition personnel - Gate Castle Expedition Personnel Warriors Hakeem Rey Thuruar Other: Amdor the Mighty, "wizard" advisor. Laara, the Greywolf Psychic Defender, Alicia Scarnetti, Amber, Nerathi slave priestess. Athena Escort: Priestess Sora Menekakhos 2 Temple Guards
chris107: He's ready to do war upon the nerathi.
Smon: GM: You mount up alongside priestess Sora and two white armoured temple guards. Kaag and the Chief Priest bid you farewell and you ride north from the courtyard, through the main gates and into rolling countryside.
chris107: Hakeem is happy
Smon: This land is inhabited - you pass through rich vinyards, quiet farms and peaceful manors.
Smon: The Peace of Athena - not much killing to be done here.
chris107:
Smon: Sora: "It's forty miles to Zothay - we can make the city by nightfall and rest at the Temple of Athena without the wall. Or press on and camp east of the Arthiop Mud Flats, if you wish to make Bellystone Ford on the second day."
chris107: "Make haste. We do war."
Smon: Sora looks a little uncertain, but nods.
8:21pm  2015-11-19 Smon Has exited the room
8:21pm  2015-11-19 Smon Has entered the room
Smon: That afternoon you see the smokes of Zothay ahead on a shimmering bay, where the mighty River Mageven empties to the sea, but Sora turns you north down a trail that soon intercepts with a great paved road, unlike anything you have seen before.
8:22pm  2015-11-19 Amalric Has entered the room
chris107: Graham!
Amalric: ARSE
Amalric: where are my damn post-it notes??
Smon: That afternoon you see the smokes of Zothay ahead on a shimmering bay, where the mighty River Mageven empties to the sea, but Sora turns you north down a trail that soon intercepts with a great paved road, unlike anything you have seen before. Sora: "The Old South Road - built they say by the Overlord of the City State, many centuries ago. The Nerathi followed it down when they came to claim their empire in the Southlands.
Smon: Hi G, late as usual. Better than never.
Amalric: honestly, I have shit for brains, me
Smon: The party minus Kaag & his concubine but plus Priestess Sora & 2 temple guards are heading for the elven realms and the mountain pass to the west (eventually).
Amalric: Rey lags behind
Smon: Dusk falls as you ride on, passing a few travellers hurrying to reach Zothay - behind you now - before nightfall.
chris107: H is in good form now we are moving
Smon: The land here grows wild. To the west of the Old South Road stretches off a great dismal swamp, the Arthiop Mud Flats.
Smon: To the north-east stretches a vast rolling expanse of dust-red plain to the horizon. Sora: "The Altani Plain... There are Orcs there."
chris107: H spits
Smon: She gestures to the swamplands. "And there, Lizardmen and worse."
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 4,
chris107: "When the Nerathi are defeated and oriax dead, I will slay them all."
Smon: Night falls, dark but with the moon shining through the scattered clouds.
Smon: You have ridden some 60 miles from the Temple.
chris107: we set watches
Smon: Sora nods. "There is an Inn leagues north of here on the Murmuring Stream, but we may kill the horses before we reach it. You are right. Let us camp."
Amalric: "No comfy bed? For shame!"
Smon: You set camp, using bedrolls provided by the Temple. The clouds are clearing, and the night grows cool. Alicia snuggles close to Rey.
Smon: Hakeem, Malenn-less, is alone with his thoughts. Laara watches the sky in puzzlement. "The stars - they grow strange. We are a long way north of home."
chris107: H nods. Laara is a wisw woman after all.
8:32pm  2015-11-19 Eliana Has entered the room
Smon: Hi Eli
chris107: Hi Eli
Smon: Talking of wise women.
Eliana: (HI ! hiding at work  ! )
chris107: Eliana Wise Woman
Eliana:
Amalric: run! run for your lives!!
Amalric: (I was kidding, come back!)
chris107: (Here)
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
Smon: You settle down, set watches, most sleep...
Smon: /roll d6
chris107: We live!
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 3,
Smon: Midnight passes. A chill fog rolls in off the Arthiop Mud Flats...
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 3,
Smon: And eventually dawn breaches the eastern sky.
chris107: yay
Smon: Sora seems relieved that you have passed the night unmolested.
chris107: H is disappointed
chris107: Bloodletter needs exercise
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 3,
Smon: The weather is muggy, but no rain falls as you breakfast, mount up, and ride on north down the Old South Road.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Smon: You pass a 20 man patrol of mounted soldiers, riders out of Onhir. Sora waves to their leader, a big blond Skandik, and exchanges a few words.
Smon: He seems deferential.
Smon: Late that morning you top a rise and see ahead a stone bridge over a shimmering river, a well-fortified Inn beyond.
chris107: "Drink!"
Amalric: "This must be the place, then? The Murmuring Mummy, or something..."
Smon: Sora smiles: "We've done twenty miles this morn - a little drink would do no harm... You know the place, Lord Reynard?"
Smon: Alicia squints against the morning sun, points out the sign with its bandage-wrapped form emerging from a tomb. "Well, kind of obvious, don't you think?"
Amalric: (LOL I'd forgotten, actually!)
Amalric: "Now now, Alicia - manners cost nothing."
chris107: phone brb
Smon: You enter the Inn, packed with quite a crowd - pilgrims, led by two priestesses of Apollo-Mitra - one a dwarf! The other a half-elf, to go by her pointed ears.
Amalric: "Only from hearsay, Sora."
Smon: A travel-stained Altanian warrior drinks at the bar, a red firedrake curled at his feet.
Smon: An aristocrat in Alryan - City State - garb - sits at the best table, slave girl at his feet and boduguard behind, berating the serving wench for some infraction.
Smon: As you enter and order drinks, the pilgrims seem readying to move off. Do you want to talk to anyone?
Amalric: "Quite the diverse crowd, eh?"
Amalric: talk to the pilgrims I suppose
Amalric: unless Sora does that
Amalric: lets talk to them all
Smon: Sora: "Many travel down the Old South Road from the City State..."
chris107: back, sorry about that
Smon: Sora seems to have no desire to speak with the Mitraic pilgrims.
Amalric: oh its Thuruar who is the Mitra, yes?
chris107: Athena
Smon: No, all Athena. Jana Vex is Mitraic.
Amalric: him too
chris107:
Amalric: ah yes, all coming back to me now
Amalric: dont want to anger someone with a firedrake - unless we want the place to burn down? H?
Amalric: speak to the snotty Alryan
Amalric: "Ho, friend! What news of the City State? What brings you to these parts?"
Smon: The aristocrat looks up as Rey approaches. You notice a covered Hawk-cage on the marble table.
Smon: Make Persuasion check Rey.
Smon: The noble as an angular face, with thick copper hair and green eyes. He wears fine raiment and jewelry in Alryan style..
Smon: roll d20
Smon: ...
Smon: brb tea
chris107: Gin
Smon: mm, whisky...
Amalric rolls 1d20+9 and gets: 18, (+9) = 27
chris107: Nice Graham
Smon: It's +11 since you Levelled last session.
Amalric: (+11 for Persuasion actually, thought I'd roll before checking!)
Amalric: (He's not a woman in disguise, is he?  )
Smon: The man smiles warmly at Rey. "Ah! A fellow of good breeding in these godsforsaken parts! Please, join me! Wench, more wine!"
chris107: Fellow of good breeding?
Smon: "I am Agollos - you are Antillian, by your accent? How fares the City of Spires?"
chris107:
Smon: Agollos: "The City fares well indeed - the Overlord's third daughter has wed, and there was much celebration as I departed."
Amalric: "I cannot say, sadly it has been some time since last I tread that fair place."
Amalric: (hey watch it you!)
Smon: "I head for Zothay, to enquire on certain trading interests of my House... You head north, to the City State?"
Amalric: "I can only imagine. I rather hoped she would hold out for me, but alas..."
Amalric: "We are heading north, indeed..."
Smon: Agollos smiles and laughs. "Ho ho! An excellent jest!"
Amalric: "..anything to watch out for on the way?"
Amalric:
Smon: He looks over Rey's troupe. "A strange band you are with..." his eyes settle on Alicia. "...But I see you have excellent taste in slaves."
Smon: Alicia sees his hungry look, looks down, even blushing slightly - unusual from her!
Amalric: "My thanks! You have chosen well yourself, I see...Have to be careful with this one, though - a real firecracker!"
Smon: Agollos shrugs. "Safe enough to Black Baron Pass. The Queans Waste is dangerous, as always."
Amalric: Rey slaps Alicia's rear with appreciation
Amalric: "But you made it here alright...?"
Smon: Agollos nods, grins as Alicia starts with a yelp at the rump-slap: "How much for her? Name your price."
Smon: Agollos nods: "Oh yes. Our horses are fleet, our blades sharp. We evaded the ghosts of the Waste, and the wretched Altanian brigands gave us but poor sport."
chris107: grrr
Amalric: "Sorry, I cannot part with this one, not for all the gold in the City State. Too precious."
Smon: Agollos sighs sadly. "I understand... She is truly a jewel beyond price!" Alicia smiles happily at that. Agollos glances at Hakeem. "Your bodyguard?"
Amalric: "And that's not like them. Must have been all drunk and fighting each other - you know how those thickheads are..."
Smon: Agollos: "Indeed. Savages. Wretched relics of an age long past. Before Civilisation came to these lands."
Amalric: "Yes, having a brainless lunk around to intimidate people is a rather cheap practice, but often highly effective."
Smon: Agollos drinks, beckons Rey closer and speaks quietly. "Indeed... But between you and me, Altanians are always treacherous. Best dispose of him and hire a good Alryan. Even a Skandik is better."
Smon: Agollos chuckles. "Why, even a Tharb!"
chris107: H gives the evil eye
Smon: H can make Perception check to overhear that, DC 15.
Amalric: Rey leans in and grins. "Aye, wise words indeed! I'll keep him around only as long as I need him, never fear."
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 12, (+3) = 15
Smon: Yup, you heard.
chris107: "All mouth....."
Smon: You notice Amdor the Mighty in conversation with the dwarf Mitra-Apollo priestess.
chris107: H shrugs
Smon: Agollos nods. "Well, we had better be going if we're to reach Zothay by nightfall. Good talking to you, friend. Your name ...?"
Amalric: Rey orders more wine for himself and Agollos
Smon: /roll d20+11
Smon rolls 1d20+11 and gets: 3, (+11) = 14
Smon: Agollos stands, waving a hand. "No more wine."
Amalric: "Reynard Mercellin. My friends call me Rey."
Smon: The pilgrims are streaming out of the Inn now, heading south on foot. Amdor waves the priestesses goodbye, then saunters over to Hakeem. "Lovely Gels... Headin' right down our way to the Temple-Tomb of Belaras!" (where Malenn is!)
chris107: H is sad that Malenn is not here. But finds strength thinking about his child.
Smon: Agollos nods. "Agollos of House Loudring."
Amalric: Rey shakes Agollos by the hand. "Well met."
Amalric: "And safe travels."
Smon: Agollos shakes back enthusiastically. "And to you! Come, guard! Slave, on your feet!" He tugs at the girl's leash, she rises, and the trio go to depart.
Smon: At a nearby table, Sora has been talking with Laara the Defender. She finishes her drink and rises. "Excuse me a moment..."
Smon: Sora heads for the little girl's room.
Smon: Laara watches Sora leave, then goes over to Hakeem, talks in a low voice. "Hakeem... that man Rey was speaking with. There is a darkness about him. He's not all he seems, I think."
chris107: "Thank you lady Laara. " H whispers this to Rey
chris107: how long have they been gone?
Smon: Agollos has just left, a moment ago. Probably saddling up outside.
chris107: 1 sec for G to answer
Smon: I'll get a drink then.
Amalric: answer what?
chris107: me too
Amalric: oh that
chris107: See above
chris107: Do we follow your new chum and kill him.
Amalric: Rey shrugs to H. "Well, if you want to kill him...lets do it."
chris107: H grins.
Amalric: "Cant have these darkness chaps wandering around being...dark."
Amalric: "Even if he is a good drinking buddy."
Smon: GM: Looking out the window you see the Inn stablehands saddle up Agollos' courser, a second horse for the guard and a pack-pony too.
chris107: H will walk out and up to him
Smon: Agollos mounts up, the guard mounting his steed and the slave getting on the pony.
chris107: "You have a problem with Altanians?"
Smon: Agollos looks down from his horse as Hakeem strides out into the Inn courtyard.
Smon: Agollos sneers, then smiles. "Why yes, as a matter of fact, I do."
chris107: "H draws Bloodletter
chris107: "Come then man of darkness."
Smon: Hakeem sees the bodyguard moves his steed round to flank Hakeem. As Hakeem draws his sword the guard draws sword & shortblade.
chris107: H pulls the shield onto his arm.
Smon: Agollos smiles broadly: "You wish to fight! Excellent! Stableboys, note that I kill this wretch in self defence!"
chris107: (Rey?)
Amalric: Rey slips out of the inn to take on the guard from behind
Smon: The Alryans close on Hakeem... roll init.
Smon: /roll d20+1
Smon rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 8, (+1) = 9
chris107 Rolls 1d20+2x2 and gets:
14 (+2) = 16
7 (+2) = 9
chris107: Rage
Smon: /roll d20+3
Smon rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 4, (+3) = 7
Smon: Rey roll init too
Amalric rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 11, (+5) = 16
Smon: OK, you both win. Hakeem you first then Rey.
chris107 Rolls 1d20+11x2 and gets:
7 (+11) = 18
18 (+11) = 29
Smon: Attacking Agollos?
chris107: hack-hack
chris107: yes

Smon: He started last round instead of attacking, taking Withdraw action - rear to distract then flee. Hakeem chases, but the fellow is getting away...
chris107: "bastard!"
Smon: Rey does have a Dash Bonus action ability so could soak an attack from the guard to move 60' and attack Agollos. No Sneak that I can see, though.
chris107: "Where is your honour now?! Chased away like a girl by an Altanian!"
Smon: Actually, no Hakeem can Run, reach Agollos but no attack (80' move), that lets Rey get to him and make 1 sneak attack.
Smon: OK?
chris107: yup
Smon: Doing that Rey?
