Smon: >>Smon: You see ahead a great high domed hall. Smon: Tattered shreds of drapery hang from the walls. Smon: In the centre on a 5' plinth is a cage of silver bars built into the platform, in which stands the source of the whistling... chris107: H draws Bloodletter Smon: It looks like a headless gorilla made of honeycomb, through which the wind whistles... Kjato Ragfoot: No! Do not stop the wind! chris107: 'Wha...?"<<
chris107: Simon: I'm back in Yorkshire tonight and have no note of how many HP etc. I have. Sorry.
chris107:
Smon: You can work it out from the blog I guess - http://smons.blogspot.co.uk/?zx=2befec86c668cadf
Smon: I didn't keep a record last time, sorry.
Rystellin:
chris107: No prob. Give me 10 mins and I'll read through
Smon: GM: The hall is hexagonal, 50' across, with you entering through a wide arch in the NE wall. To your right a 10' wide tunnel leads north from the north wall.
Kjato Ragfoot: I have a question: If I repeatedly cast "Sacred Flame" on a corpse, would it burnt to ashes at some point?
Smon: It's radiant not fire damage, so no I don't think so.
Smon: It does not ignite things.
chris107: Mmmm I have him at full HP, 5HD down, three rages used and one recovered from berserk used.
Kjato Ragfoot: OK.
Smon: Sounds right. Sarene is down 3 hd at 116/120 hp.
chris107: okay, I'll scan through again if you like while we wait for G?
*Kjato Ragfoot weeps as he sees those hit points*
Smon: The strange headless honeycomb ape-creature in the cage is turned in your direction and seems to be 'watching' you.
chris107: Otherwise H is ready to kill the windy gorrila
chris107: "Hey Gorrila! Do you serve the Nerathi?"
Rystellin: question: you lose HD?
chris107: Healing Dice Ry
Rystellin: ahh
Smon: http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic1270620_md.jpg The creature
chris107: "What think you Thuruar?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, that beast is in a cage and cannot harm us. We do not want to go into the cage.
Kjato Ragfoot: I would simply ignore it.
chris107: But it could be a marvelous fight! The creature looks strong."
chris107: "Amdor, what do you know of this?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, but at the moment we want to prevent the Nerathi from massively increasing the size of their army with almost a thousand zombies.
chris107: "We do indeed."
Kjato Ragfoot: First work, then play. You can kill that creature once we prevented the Nerathi taking over the corpses.
chris107: Hakeem brightens at this good news.
Smon: Amdor: "Eh... Well naturally I have made an extensive study of such creatures. I believe it to be a Singing Honey Ape, formed by the Mad Wizard Zargothrax in days of yore to entertain him in his debaucheries."
chris107: "Then let us get to slaying more Nerathi!"
Kjato Ragfoot: A singing honey ape?
Smon: Amdor nods. "Indeed."
Kjato Ragfoot: That Zargothrax must have been a rather strange one...
chris107: "You are indeed wise and learned Amdor!"
Kjato Ragfoot: But, if it is made of honey, we should be able to melt it easily. Wax and honey melt at low temperatures.
Smon: "Currently it is at Default setting. There must be some device to make it sing properly rather than this annoying whistle, but I have not located it."
chris107: H nods
chris107: So where from here?
chris107: Any exits from this room.
chris107: ?
Smon: Amdor nods. "I'm sure it could be controlled, but otherwise melting is a distinct possibility."
Smon: Smon: GM: The hall is hexagonal, 50' across, with you entering through a wide arch in the NE wall. To your right a 10' wide tunnel leads north from the north wall.
chris107: "Melting?"
Kjato Ragfoot: There are at least three other exits from the room we passed through before.
chris107: Thanks
Kjato Ragfoot: "Yes, melting. Perhaps we could retrieve some honey and sweeten our wine."
chris107: "Yum!"
Smon: Amdor: "I expect Odo is around here somewhere. Oh and if you want Nerathi, she captured a couple of their priests a day or so ago. Probably still got them."
Smon: Sarene: "Oh?"
chris107: Then we must find and thank her.
Smon: Amdor nods. "One old greybeard, the other a fine-lookin' gel."
Smon: He strokes his beard. "Wonder if those four unpleasant fellows were looking for them..."
chris107: "Could be...."
Kjato Ragfoot: (Damn. Where is Rey if you need to seduce-interrogate someone...)
Smon:
chris107: (Yes, I was thinking the same)
Smon: (Haven't heard from Graham at all)
chris107: (Nore me)
Kjato Ragfoot: (We should simply send Rey to Nerath. Soon, he would have converted all Nerathi females to the worship of Aphrodite, stopping this necromantic nonsense)
chris107: (Great idea!  )
chris107: Amdor has no idea of Dark Odo's whereabouts, right?
Smon: Amdor: "Did I tell you of the fall of the Sandlanders? How an earth tremor opened a rift into the Pit of Eternal Flame and the lizardmen sacked the temple-tomb, slaying high priest Yezal?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. And consulting my (rather crude) map, there is also an as of yet unexplored tunnel west-east above the room with the bronze statue.
Kjato Ragfoot: "A part of it, but you omitted the rift and the eternal flame so far."
Smon: There were tunnels leading N W E & S off the bronze statue chamber. You explored the N tunnel chasing the spider, it looped round and became the W tunnel leading back into the chamber.
Smon: You took the main SW tunnel out and arrived here with the honeycomb-ape.
Rystellin: I wonder how honey is on grits
chris107: Hakeem is dizzy with all the choices. He decides to follow the wise war priest
Smon: Amdor nods. "The flame was quenched by the inrushing waters, the lizardmen sank the next funereal barge to arrive. After more battles with the Lizardmen the Sandlanders withdrew north up the coast, passing out of history."
7:38pm  2015-11-07 Amalric Has entered the room
Smon: Hi G!!
chris107: Here he is!
Amalric: sorry!!!
Smon: Good to see you.
Kjato Ragfoot: Finally!
Amalric: was remembering until Strictly came on, then completely forgot
Amalric: my bad
Smon: Well obviously my game can hardly compare with Strictly.
Amalric: happened to go on RPol just then, and then it clicked - major panic kicked in
Amalric: so what are we killing tonight? ourselves?
Smon: You need to use post-its or something Graham.
chris107: Depends Graham. There's some lay-dee Magic User lurking around here somewhere. We may need your rather specialist skills
chris107: There's a big singing gorrila
chris107: In a silver cage
Smon: Deep in the Lichway, the group - Hakeem Sarene & Thuruar - are regarding a strange creature in a silver cage - http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic1270620_md.jpg
chris107: or loads of passages
Smon: The source of the whistling-wind sound that pervades the complex.
Amalric: in what sense, Chris? I guess Rey could take her down either way...
Amalric: (post-its are an idea, Simon!)
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: (We considered your skills in seducerating)
Amalric: and what are we deducing about the whistling gorilla?
Smon: GM: We can say Rey is feeling better and follows the others east from the wharfs to the chamber with the vampire statue, takes the bridge over the stream, passes through the catacombs (stepping over dead Xvarts), past the bronze death statue to your current locale...
Smon: Sarene turns: "Oh hi, Rey!"
Smon:
Amalric: "Hey Sarene! Nothing catching my attention more than your shapely form!"
chris107: Sorry, am watching screen, but mashing potatoes while I do
Amalric: "What is that beast?"
Smon: Sarene gives Rey a smouldering look like a tigress on heat, then turns to Hakeem, Thuruar and the Great Wizard Amdor. "I say we either kill this ape-thing or continue looking around."
Amalric: (and I take it H committed the xvart genocide?)
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's investigate the remaining exit from the room above - Amdor mentioned some mechanism that can control this cage.
Smon: Amdor: "I believe it to be a Singing Honey Ape, formed by the Mad Wizard Zargothrax in days of yore to entertain him in his debaucheries."
Amalric: "Is it doing us any harm where it is? We could always leave it for now and look around."
Smon: "There should be a control whistle or such around somewhere."
Smon: Sarene: "Amdor, I take it Dark Odo seeks the Sandlanders' grave-goods?" He nods.
chris107: Have we seen a whistle?
Kjato Ragfoot: "It does not seem harmful as long it is in that cage and we stay outside."
chris107: H inspects the key he found. Does it double as a whistle?
Smon: It looks like a key.
chris107: He tries blowing it and taking it apart
Smon: It seems solid, small, silver.
chris107: he shrugs. Easily loosing interest and looks for something else to kill.
Amalric: "Was there a keyhole back in the statue room?"
chris107: silver like the cage?
Smon: Amdor: "Given you found that in the Crypt of LIfe, there could be a connection with the Pit of Eternal Flame, which is south of that secret door I told you of."
Smon: Silver just like the cage, yup.
Smon: There was no keyhole in the statue room.
chris107: Secret door?
Smon: There is no obvious keyhole on the cage, formed of silver bars.
Smon: Where are you looking?
chris107: That was my next question
Smon: The cage is on a 5' high plinth. There are 8 sides to the chamber, passages out in N and NE walls, you came in by NE.
chris107: Amdor. Where is the secret door?
Smon: Amdor: "At the base of the Flame Portal, just off the wharfs, of course! It leads now to the gaol block where Odo is holding the Nerathi priests, I believe."
Rystellin: Perhaps the plinth has a crest of design on a face that the key could fit into
Amalric: "Secret door? Well that may be worth a look!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah! In the portal with the chained locks.
Amalric: (didn't Rey cut/loosen some chains up there before?)
chris107: Then why didn't you tell us? This Odo broad will surely know the secrets of this place?
Smon: Amdor nods to Thuruar.
Kjato Ragfoot: (He told us)
chris107: H blushes
Smon: "I did indeed!"
chris107: Then let us go there now?
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Smon: Amdor nods. "Back the way we came, then!"
Kjato Ragfoot: All right. Onwards to the secret door.
chris107: yay
Smon: Amdor leads you back NE down the great barrel-vaulted processional of the Lichway, the countless Dead entombed on either side, over the stream, through the lich gates, past the vampire statue, NW through the Runehall where you fought the Nerathi, and W back onto the wharfs.
Rystellin: (I will attempt going out for a while. If I return quickly, it is because it is too hot out)
Smon: Sarene waves to her men, down on the boat - the tide has receded, leaving about 4' of greenish slimy stair now, and more of the sunken barge is visible.
chris107: Should we search the sunken barge?
Smon: Sarene: "Any trouble?" "Just a couple Stirges, Cap'n."
Smon: There is a chest visible in the barge, just below the water.
chris107: Didn't Amdor say something about it bringing priests? Maybe the whistle will be there>
Kjato Ragfoot: There was a metal box at the bottom, there might be clues on it.
Smon: Hakeem might recall being bitten by lampreys by that barge wreck.
chris107: oh yes
chris107: your turn rey
Amalric: oh
chris107: only a few leeches
chris107: and lots of treasure I'm sure
Smon: The 'flame portal' doors, arched and 20' high, stand in the centre of the south wall just off the wharfside, bordered with depictions of intertwined skeletons and bound by thick metal bars.
Amalric: Rey investigates
Smon: Is Rey getting in the water to get the chest out?
Smon: Its top is now only a few inches under water.
Amalric: how deep is it inside the barge?
Amalric: ah
Amalric: he will do so
Smon: The bottom of the barge is still 2-3' underwater.
Kjato Ragfoot: We could try to lift if with the hook on my warhammer?
chris107: Watch out for those big leeches Rey
Amalric: how much damage did H take?
chris107: mmmmmmm
Amalric: Rey will give it a try
chris107: quite a bit
Smon: As Rey descends the steps and gets into the water, silt in the bottom of the barge stirs, and a sinuous form darts towards him...
chris107: H gets ready to stab any lampreys that try sucking on Rey.
Smon: /roll d20+6x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+6x2 and gets:
1 (+6) = 7
17 (+6) = 23
Smon: The lamprey latches on to Rey's thigh...
Smon: /roll d6+4
Smon rolls 1d6+4 and gets: 4, (+4) = 8
Smon: 8 dmg & make a CON check
Amalric: "OOYAH!"
Amalric rolls 1d20 and gets: 13,
chris107: Stab it Rey!
Smon: It doesn't manage to get a firm blood-sucking hold.
chris107: phew
Smon: Rey can halve the dmg (so 4) & strike back.
Amalric Rolls 1d20+8x2 and gets:
12 (+8) = 20
11 (+8) = 19
Smon: 2 hits
Amalric rolls 1d8+5 and gets: 4, (+5) = 9
Amalric rolls 1d4+1 and gets: 1, (+1) = 2
Smon: 11 dmg, it had 11 hp, it dies
Amalric: meh. do I get sneak bonus?
Smon: no
Amalric: good enough
Amalric: (didn't think so)
chris107: well done rey
Amalric: still wary, Rey moves to get the box
Smon: Full of water it's too heavy to lift out of the sea, but Rey checks for traps then levers up the lid of the rusty iron-bound chest.
chris107: Tie a rope to it?
Amalric: (need a roll?)
Smon: Inside you see an ornate golden goblet, a small stoppered flask, a stoppered blue gourd and a plain silver armband.
Smon: (naw)
chris107: Nice
chris107: Was that the 'chest' or seperate?
Smon: In the silt beneath the chest you can make out a badly rusted dagger and decayed wooden shield.
Amalric: Rey grabs them quickly and then gets out of the water
Amalric: he'll leave those
Smon: Rey re-emerges with goblet, flask, gourd, and armband.
chris107: Well done Rey!
Smon: The goblet looks to be worth ca 100gp, the armband ca 25 gp.
Kjato Ragfoot: Indeed!
Amalric: and the potions we'll check later?
chris107: sure
chris107: Now onto the secret door?
Kjato Ragfoot: No clues, just treasure.
Smon: Amdor has been busy with the Flame Portal, he has opened a 3' square secret panel at its base which reveals a 3' by 3' space holding a bronze lever.
chris107: H will settle for treasure
Smon: Amdor: "Lever activates the stone gate before the rune hall... Behind here is another secret panel that leads to the inner chambers..."
Smon: Sarene: "Go on then."
chris107: "Lead on mighty Amdor!"
Smon: Amdor crawls into the 3' space, grunts as he opens the back panel, and crawls through into a narrow but high-ceilinged tunnel that leads west.
Smon: Amdor: "Er, got a light? Rather dark here."
chris107: Rey?
Smon: Sarene: "Perhaps a Light cantrip, oh mighty one?"
Smon: Amdor: "Yes, that would be lovely..."
chris107: Does Bloodletter glow in any way?
Amalric: "Well on you go then! You're the wizard!"
Amalric: (Bloodletter?)
Smon: Bloodletter glows with eldritch blue radiance when brandished.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will shake his head.
chris107: "Pah Sarene! Amdor would not have such minor spells."
chris107: (Thanks)
Kjato Ragfoot: Amdor needs to preserve his magic power against powerful foes, let me assise.
Smon: Amdor nods indistinctly. "Indeed."
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will cast light on Amdors pointed hat.
chris107: (Bloodletter, a magical sword belonging to a once powerful, now dead, Sword Knight of Bondorr.)
Smon: Amdor's broad-brimmed wizard hat shines forth proudly.
chris107: hehe a glowing Amdor
Smon: GM: You all follow Amdor?
chris107: Hakeem will follow the glowing wiz into the secret space.
Smon: What order? It's single file.
Kjato Ragfoot: Then let'S go Hakeem first. He is most likely to survive a trape.
Smon: Amdor follows Hakeem, Sarene can go next.
Smon: Thuruar & Rey behind?
Kjato Ragfoot: I won't try to shove Hakeem or Sarene aside.
Smon: You notice that this tunnel is clearly new construction, the south wall of red brick.
Amalric: Rey follows Sarene, enjoying the view
Smon: Amdor: "Once this must have led into the Pit of Eternal Flame, but now it detours around..."
chris107: H scrambles on. Bloodletter in one hand, his shield infront (?)
Smon: You head west down the tunnel, Sarene sashaying her shapely hips.
Smon: After some distance the tunnel turns south, then after 20' ends at a wooden door.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 9,
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. That eternal flame would be practical to burn all those corpses.
Amalric: (what on earth has happened to Chelsea, Chris? 0-1 loss to Stoke today)
chris107: H listens at the door, inspecting it for a key hole
chris107: (Don't  )
Smon: Amdor: "The flame was extinguished by the onrushing waters, do pay attention..." There is no keyhole, just a handle. From beyond the door you can hear the sound of strenuous lovemaking.
chris107: Shield now firmly on one arm
chris107: "Rey, your department."
Smon: Amdor whispers: "Must be Foul-Faced Vivlok, he had an eye for that Nerathi wench..."
Smon: "Can't say I envy her, what with the weeping sores..."
chris107: ewww
Smon: "Not to mention the hairy warts, the foul stench..."
chris107: H kicks open the door
Smon: GM: The frail door blasts open, a tot
chris107: "Grrrrrrrr!"
chris107: H pushes through
Smon: torch in the NW corner throws light on the bed, the fat and obscene bulk of Foul-Faced Vivlok ravishing the bound and naked woman beneath...
chris107: Hakeem slashes at him.
chris107: making room behind for his friends
Smon: Beside the bunk lies a sword,5-key key ring, a large empty sack, all soaked in wine from an upturned jug.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 1,
Amalric: "Oh let the ugly bastard have some fun, Hakeem! Poor form..."
Smon: Hakeem charges in, getting a surprise round as Foul Faced Vivlok rises & turns.
chris107:
Amalric: Rey of course dashes in to slash the ugly man anyway
chris107: so with advantage?
Smon: Face covered in warts and sores, he snarls, making for the great sword at the foot of the bed.
Amalric: "Can't have this, can we Sarene?"
Smon: Yeah, he's prone so advtg
Smon: Sarene: "Whatever."
8:27pm  2015-11-07 pawndream Has entered the room
chris107 Rolls 1d20+10x2 and gets:
15 (+10) = 25
13 (+10) = 23
chris107 Rolls 1d20+10x2 and gets:
8 (+10) = 18
19 (+10) = 29
Smon: AC 13
chris107: Hi PD
chris107: 2 hits then
chris107: just, no rage
chris107: so 13 and 26
chris107 rolls 2d8+14 and gets: 6, 5, (+14) = 25
Smon: Sarene steps aside to let Rey have at the brute.
Smon: Hakeem wounds him.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will Sacred Flame the evil guy.
Amalric: "Perhaps you like to see weak women ravished by men, as the opposite of you?"
Amalric Rolls 1d20+8x2 and gets:
13 (+8) = 21
7 (+8) = 15
Smon: Rey stabs Vivlok.
Amalric: +9 for the dagger actually
Amalric rolls 1d8+5 and gets: 4, (+5) = 9
Smon: Sarene bends down and takes the silver keys.
Amalric rolls 4d6 and gets: 1, 2, 1, 3, = 7
Smon: Rey you have Surprise so critical hits.
Smon: roll all dice twice
Amalric rolls 4d6 and gets: 3, 2, 1, 2, = 8
chris107: Nice
Amalric Rolls 1d20+9x2 and gets:
9 (+9) = 18
18 (+9) = 27
Amalric rolls 1d8+5 and gets: 1, (+5) = 6
Amalric Rolls 1d4+1x2 and gets:
3 (+1) = 4
4 (+1) = 5
Amalric: 29hp?
Smon: 25 for the sword, 8 for the dagger looks like.
Smon: 33 dmg
chris107: Is he still up after that lot?
Smon: 58 between the two of you, he had 58 hp, you run him through as Thuruar Flames his head.
chris107: Yay!
Smon: Foul-faced Vivlok crashes dead from the bed, hand never reaching the hilt of his Altani greatsword.
Smon: The naked gagged & bound woman on the bed looks up at you. She looks very familiar to Rey & Hakeem...
Amalric: uh-oh
chris107: H inspects the greatsword while no doubt Rey 'helps' the damsel.
Smon: Chelarre Foxwood, Nerathi Priestess of Erathis and lover of Selatine's Lord Hytirus Vex!
Amalric: good thinking
chris107: oh?...
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm.
Kjato Ragfoot: What a coincidence.
chris107: H has never liked her...
Smon: The sword is slightly rusty and seems poorly maintained.
Amalric: on second thoughts, maybe we should have let Vivlok finish her off
Smon: Chelarre: "*mmph!*"
chris107: (H silently agrees with Rey)
Smon: Happier Chelarre - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj29E5u_tWIJejrJbBNd7D_g9hVQjkQome_xaAmKU1-UCSlQRQFOm_AAo910PcuQHYQEv8RJ1Hhh2awd3gXnfO-Ps4CxkM4tdd7UkkhtHmgRd_w4wL5Qe43xxWzoih8vP6dLg8ogoaNITA/s1600/Miss+Chelarre+Foxwood%2C+priestess+of+Erathis.jpg
Amalric: who was she a priestess of, again?
Smon: Sarene straightens up with the keys: "You know her?"
Amalric: Erathis
Kjato Ragfoot: We need someone to tell us what is going on. She would be an excellent choice, as she already knows and trusts you?
Amalric: i'm not sure trust is the right word
Amalric: we suspect she had a spell on Lord Vex
Amalric: or something
chris107: She is a Nerathi spy and has charmed lord vex
Amalric: though we never said as much
Amalric: Rey will whisper all this to Thuruar out of earshot of Chelarre
8:39pm  2015-11-07 pawndream Has exited the room
Smon: You all confer in the corner.
chris107: H will not kill her out of hand. But we need to be carful
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. Still, she might know something.
Amalric: (I just joined Pawndream's game on RPol, meant to say hi)
Smon: This chamber has two exits, wide double doors in the east wall, and slightly smaller pair in the west wall.
Kjato Ragfoot: And if not, we can feed her to the lampreys.
Smon: "*mmph!*"
Smon: Sarene goes through Vivlok's pouch, empties out 17 sp.
Kjato Ragfoot: Louder: I believe the prisoner wants to say something.
Smon: You notice a rope hanging down from over the bed.
chris107: H pulls down the gag
Amalric: "You always wanted to fuck her over, Hakeem - now's your chance!"
chris107: doing the finger to lips gesture
Amalric: on her mouth, one assumes
Smon: LOL you bad G
chris107: H gives Rey a filthy look.
Smon: Hakeem ungags Chelarre, she takes a deep breath.
chris107: "What are you doing here?"
Smon: She looks wildly up at Hakeem but stays silent.
Smon: Chelarre: "I was sent - looking for the Lichway - we were attacked - raiders! Brought here..."
Smon: Amdor nods. "THere were two of them."
chris107: "Sent by who?"
chris107: "And to find what?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar whispers to Rey: I know a spell called "Zone of Truth", but I would need to rest to prepare it.
8:43pm  2015-11-07 Rystellin Has exited the room
Smon: Chelarre: "Tal Lorvas, the Knight Concordant - he wishes reinforcements for our campaign against the Gnolla...."
Smon: Chelarre: "Please, untie me!"
Smon: Sarene: "She's a Priestess - a caster?"
chris107: "A powerful one."
Smon: Sarene: "Hm. Remind me why you just killed Amdor's foul-faced friend?"
chris107: "He was here."
8:45pm  2015-11-07 Oculus Orbus Has entered the room
Smon: Sarene: "He was working for Dark Odo, right?" Amdor nods.
chris107: H shrugs. Mistakes happen
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem likes killing things.
Oculus Orbus: Am I late?
chris107: Hi Occs
Smon: Sarene: "So now we have to kill Dark Odo? To help the Nerathi?!"
chris107: Hakeem's head hurts with all this thinking.
Smon: Sarene nudges Vivlok's corpse with her boot.
Smon: Chelarre: "We have found the Lichway! Return me to Hara and you'll be well rewarded."
chris107: As far as he's concered we are at war with the Nerathi and this powerful priestess must be captured.
chris107: But we have to kjeep her away from Lord Vex
Smon: Chelarre: "I have news from Selatine - grave news. Free me and I will tell you."
chris107: H whispers that to his friends
chris107: H pulls up the gag for now
Amalric: She works for the Nerathi?
Kjato Ragfoot: (Oriax ravaged the place?)
Smon: "*mmph*!"
Amalric: well kill the cow!
Smon: Amdor: "She is Nerathi, she and the greybeard!"
Smon: He looks down at his own greying beard.
chris107: Hakeem vaguely remembers that she is of a powerful noble family?
Smon: (yes)
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 5,
Smon: That's about all he remembers, though.
chris107: "I say we take her to safty with Lady Meda. She will know what to do."
Smon: Sarene: "Our job is to stop the Nerathi raising the Lichway dead, right? So we have to make sure no Nerathi get back to report..."
chris107: "Agreed"
Smon: Amdor: "The jail cells are just through the west door, the other one should be there."
Amalric: (she is Nerathi, is she? just clarifying)
chris107: Are there chains to secure Chelarre?
Smon: (yes, she's a Nerathi noble)
chris107: (Yeah Noble one G)
Smon: (she's tied to the bed with strips of white cloth, & gagged likewise)
Amalric: (so we should kill her, right?)
chris107: (We don't want her slipping her bonds)
Kjato Ragfoot: (I think we should feed her to the lampreys)
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 5,
chris107: If there are manacles etc. I think we should use them.
Smon: Happily for Chelarre she does not hear your whispers.
Amalric: Rey could slit her throat...
Oculus Orbus: "what game is this?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's take the priestess and the corpse and get out of here.
Amalric: Papers & Paychecks
Smon: Sarene: "I have a Nerathi slave-priestess myself, we could take her back to the Clan Moot & sell her to some Chief?"
chris107: Okay
Oculus Orbus:
Smon: 5e D&D, Wilderlands.
chris107: We must not risk her escaping.
Amalric: "We don't want her getting anywhere, do we?"
chris107: Rather take her head now than let this powerful priestess fight agin us in the upcoming war.
Kjato Ragfoot: I do not think that is a good idea, if she ensnared Lord Vex, she might do so with a Chief as well.
Kjato Ragfoot: Also, she wanted to tell us something.
Kjato Ragfoot: We just need to make sure she tells the truth.
Amalric: can Thuruar prepare his spell?
Smon: Sarene: "You sure she didn't just ensnare him with her cunny?"
Kjato Ragfoot: I'd say we take the corpse and the priestess and return to the quay, then it will seem she somehow managed to charm that guy and got away.
chris107: "Let us take her back to your ship Sarene, rest until Thur can use his spell?"
Smon: Sarene: "How about the second priest Amdor keeps talking about?"
chris107: Mmmmm
chris107: Then chain her and we go kill him now.
chris107: Or we leave gaurds so he can not leave and we take her now.
Smon: Sarene nods, she starts untying Chelarre but keeps a tight grip on her, re-binding her wrists tight behind her back.
Smon: Sarene: "How many more men does Dark Odo have, Amdor?"
Smon: "Lots."
Smon: Sarene goes over to the western doors and opens them, revealing an unlit cell block.
Smon: She takes the torch and stalks inside, carrying the keys.
Smon: A short time passes...
Smon: You hear an *urk* sound from the darkness.
Smon: Sarene re-emerges, wiping her bloody cutlass on the bed linen/
Smon: Sarene: "Only one priest now. Let's take her and go."
9:00pm  2015-11-07 Smon Has exited the room
chris107: H keeps his sword at the ready close to Chelarre's neck.
Oculus Orbus: Chris, when you have a moment, look up Bone Tomahawk
9:00pm  2015-11-07 Smon Has entered the room
chris107: will do Occs
Smon: Smon: Sarene nods, she starts untying Chelarre but keeps a tight grip on her, re-binding her wrists tight behind her back. Smon: Sarene: "How many more men does Dark Odo have, Amdor?" Smon: "Lots." Smon: Sarene goes over to the western doors and opens them, revealing an unlit cell block. Smon: She takes the torch and stalks inside, carrying the keys. Smon: A short time passes... Smon: You hear an *urk* sound from the darkness. Smon: Sarene re-emerges, wiping her bloody cutlass on the bed linen/ Smon: Sarene: "Only one priest now. Let's take her and go."
Oculus Orbus: egad!
chris107: H makes sure the witch is dead
Kjato Ragfoot: I think Sarene killed the old priest, not Foxville?
chris107: "You are efficient Lady Sarene."
Smon: Sarene killed the greybeard priest in the cell block, Chelarre still lives.
chris107: Ah, thanks
Smon: Sarene: "It's easier to kill priests when they're tied up."
chris107: Then let's get her the heck out of here. Then come back and destroy this place.
Kjato Ragfoot: Almost everyone is easier to kill when tied up.
Smon: Sarene: "I saw leave Vivlok's corpse, it'll look like the Nerathi killed him."
chris107: So the Nerathi can not use the undead within in their war.
chris107: Yes, we have some dead ones don't we.
Smon: GM: You leave by the north door and return to the quayside with Amdor and your captive Chelarre.
Smon: Amdor: "My friends, I'm happy to profer you my services, should you be in need of Wizarding?"
Smon: Sarene: "There's not much room in the boat..."
chris107: "You have prooved true and faithful Amdor."
Smon: Amdor: "I don't weigh much..."
chris107: "Come Sarene, we can squeeze in such a mighty wizard surely?"
Smon: Sarene: "Ok, put Chelarre in the bottom of the boat, Amdor you lie on top of her. We'll squeeze in."
Smon: Amdor doesn't seem too unhappy at this.
chris107: Yay!
Kjato Ragfoot: (I am quite certain Amdor has not laid on to many females before)
Smon: A less than unhappy Chelarre is thrown down into the gunky water of the rowboat's bilge, and you all clamber aboard.
Smon: (I suspect Thuruar is correct)
Smon: (What with Amdor's mind being on High Wizardry & the Secrets of the Universe)
Amalric: kill them both, I say
chris107:
chris107: Let me pull up a map please
Kjato Ragfoot: (I like Amdor and would like to keep him as a mascot.)
Kjato Ragfoot: (Perhaps I can teach him to fetch?)
chris107: (H likes Amdor too)
Smon: The heavy laden ship's boat casts off, Sarene's men rowing it skillfully out of the cavern and through the outlying rocks to where Lady Spite sits at anchor.
Smon: Sarene's crew help you all aboard, roughly handling the bound Miss Foxwood.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
Smon: The sun is high in the sky, but dark clouds hover to the northwest, over Hara, the Nerathi city.
chris107: We must get her to a safe place to question her. Then kill her.
Smon: Sarene scans the ocean. "No vessels - good... We should return to the north. Look out for Nerathi ships."
chris107: "Back to your den Sarene?"
Amalric: "Oooh, can we keel-haul her?!"
Smon: Amdor takes a deep breath, enjoying the sea air and noon sunshine.
Smon: Sarene grins: "You really don't like her much."
chris107: And the witch?
Smon: Chelarre: "*ulp*"
chris107: Is she still safely bound and gagged?
Smon: yes
Smon: Sarene seems to be very experienced at bondage.
chris107: Good
Smon: Sarene gives the order to cast off, and Lady Spite lifts anchor, turning with the wind to head back north.
chris107: Let us speed back and question her!
Smon: Sarene: "Take her to my cabin. We can question her on the way. Priest Thuruar, you need time to prepare spells?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. I have to properly mediate and chant the proper verses.
chris107: H will guard her with great care.
Smon: GM: Sarene's men take her to the captain's cabin, which seems well appointed with restraints to keep the prisoner secure.
chris107: Any sign that she may escape and it's off with her head.
Smon: The ship heads north across the glittering blue waters of the Korm Basin.
Kjato Ragfoot: I prepare "Speak with Dead" as well, so we can still interrogate her in that case.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 5,
Smon: By nightfall you've sailed some 30 miles north-west, leaving the Korm Basin, the Plain of Gedden to your north.
chris107: got it
Smon: A lookout spots dark sails miles away to the west, but you seem unpursued as night falls.
Smon: For two days you sail on, making slightly heavy going round Gedden against a headwind, until mid-afternoon 11/4/4446 you complete the transit of Vigil Sound and see ahead the crags that conceal Sarene's hidden fortress.
chris107: Can we question her on the voyage?
Smon: The ship navigates into a limestone cave not totally unlike that of the Lichway wharfs.
Smon: (yes)
chris107: Using T's spells?
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. I will cast the spell, you stay outside the Zone of Truth and Foxville within. Then, go ahead and ask any questions you like.
chris107: okay
Smon: Inside the darkened cabin, Thuruar works the magics of Athena, goddess of Truth & Wisdom...
Smon: Foxwood not Foxville BTW.
chris107: "Why were you sent to the Lichway Priestess Foxwood and who by?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh.
Amalric: Foxy!
Kjato Ragfoot: (As long as she is not Starfox)
chris107: "What is your relationship with Lord Vex? What do you seek to gain from it?"
Smon: GM: I can't see any practical way to question her from outside the zone, it has to start from a visible point & 15' radius.
Kjato Ragfoot: I can center the spell on her, standing near her.
Smon: Chelarre gets a save:
Kjato Ragfoot: The others can stand outside the zone.
chris107: "Where and when do the Nerathi intend to invade the Ghinarean Hills?"
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 14,
chris107: Keep her hands tied
Smon: She gets 17 on save - cast again?
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes.
Smon: If you want to be over 15' away you need to question her on deck.
Kjato Ragfoot: I have four tries.
Smon: 2nd try:
Smon: /roll d20+3
Smon rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 14, (+3) = 17
chris107: Keep her away from being able to see where she is
Smon: 3rd try:
Kjato Ragfoot: (I miscalculated how far 15 feet are)
chris107: If not kill her rather than let her rejoin the Nerathi war-effort.
Smon: /roll d20+3
Smon rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 3, (+3) = 6
chris107:
Smon: ok, her resistance eventually crumbles.
chris107: yay!
Kjato Ragfoot: (Phew)
Smon: You question her on deck, or in cabin w/in zone?
chris107: in cabin
Amalric: cabin
chris107: I don't mind been in a zone of truth
Kjato Ragfoot: (Oh. In that case you have to roll saves as well.)
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 5, (+3) = 8
chris107: I'll tell the truth
Amalric rolls 1d6 and gets: 3,
Amalric: oops
Kjato Ragfoot: Those who fail must either tell the truth or stay silent.
Amalric rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 13, (+3) = 16
Smon: >>"Why were you sent to the Lichway Priestess Foxwood and who by?"<< Chelarre: "By Tal Lorvas, Knight Concordant of Restored Nerath. We were to uncover truth of the legends that the Sandlander dead are animate."
chris107: fair enough
Smon: >>"What is your relationship with Lord Vex? What do you seek to gain from it?"<< Chelarre: "The Ghinarian Lords are potential allies against -against our enemies. He is a great Lord - and not unattractive... But his town has fallen to Oriax, so I departed."
Kjato Ragfoot: (Oh. Remember to ask her what happened in Selantine and why she left)
chris107: (hehe)
chris107: "Which enemies do you talk about there?"
Smon: >> "Where and when do the Nerathi intend to invade the Ghinarean Hills?"<< "We hope to gain the Ghinarians as vassals through peaceful means, as it was in the ancient days, not conquest."
chris107: "What do you intend for the Altani tribes?"
Smon: Chelarre glares up at Hakeem. "The murderers of women, priests, and children. The foulness that defiles our land."
Smon: "The betrayers of Gedden, the murderers of Bisgen, must perish. A new world is coming."
Smon: Her eyes shine with righteousness.
Kjato Ragfoot: (I have no idea who she is talking about)
chris107: The Altani
Kjato Ragfoot: (So, basically us?)
chris107: yup
Smon: Chelarre glares up at Hakeem. "You were our Allies! You betrayed us at Gedden - departed the field! The Gnolls destroyed Nera! Your fault!"
chris107: Where will the attack on us come and when?
Amalric: "You say that like it was a bad thing..."
Smon: "Your Champion Varek murdered my friends! Helpless women - just as you're going to murder me."
Kjato Ragfoot: See. We would prefer to include you in Rey's harem.
Kjato Ragfoot: But you are way to zealous for that.
chris107: "You are an enemy priestess. A woman of great power we can not let you live."
Smon: Chelarre is in full flow now: "I took in the little children after your kind had slaughtered their mother..."
Smon: "They will avenge me, and all Nerath!"
Smon: "The Dead Battalions march with us! The voices of our dead urge us on to reform the National State! The New Dawn is here!"
Smon: Sarene: "Quite a little ranter this one."
chris107: Gag her
Kjato Ragfoot: She is truly insane.
chris107: So Selatine has fallen.
chris107: Oriax has struck as I feared.
Amalric: "Dead battalions? She's a nutter."
Smon: Sarene regags Chelarre.
chris107: The Nerathi are to do war on the folks of Altanea.
Amalric: "My villa? Damn, will have to build a new home for my harem."
chris107: hehe
Kjato Ragfoot: No, the Nerathi have undeads marching with them.
Smon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxCOlBv68Bw&feature=related
chris107: So we must decide how best to foil these scoundrals
Smon: (Neo Nazi rock, not for those of a delicate disposition)
Kjato Ragfoot: (That explains why it is not available in Germany)
Smon: brb tea
Kjato Ragfoot: (But I get the picture)
chris107: Thuruar, you have the best head for tactics among us. What do you suggest?
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm.
Kjato Ragfoot: That is tough.
Kjato Ragfoot: We cannot retake Selantine, not against Oriax.
Kjato Ragfoot: And definitely not with the Nerathi on our heels.
Kjato Ragfoot: I hate to kill this woman, but I fear we have no choice.
chris107: H is CG but Foxwood is a prisoner of war and a dangerous foe. She must be beheaded and the head burned.
chris107: agreed
chris107: Rey?
Amalric: Rey moves over and slits her throat without a word
chris107: quick pee brb
Kjato Ragfoot: I see no way to reform her.
chris107: well that answers that I guess
Kjato Ragfoot: I would have simply drowned her, but that does it as well, I guess.
chris107: Now burn the head and feed the body to the sea. On behalf of our friend Bjonalf
Kjato Ragfoot: Do we have any sharks we can feed her too? So that it is more difficult to raise her from the dead?
chris107: The nerathgi are Necromancers after all.
chris107: Lets find some
chris107: ]brb
Smon: >>Rey moves over and slits her throat without a word<< Rey slits the priestess' throat, red blood gushes out and she dies.
Smon: The Black Sun amulet nestled at her breast glimmers.
Kjato Ragfoot: Other predators or carrion eaters would do as well.
Amalric: cut that off as well
Smon: Rey cuts away the amulet.
Amalric: "Hakeem, take her head off and throw it in the sea."
Smon: Hakeem decapitates the body with a blow from Bloodletter.
Smon: Sarene: "Quite a mess you're making in my nice cabin!"
Kjato Ragfoot: That is why I wanted to drown her.
Smon: Sarene: "Throw her over the side, the Air Sharks will be hungry."
Amalric: "The amulet - any value, Thuruar?"
chris107: "Oops sorry Sarene"
chris107: The black sun must be destroyed too.
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, I am quite sure it informed the Nerathi were we are.
Smon: Thuruar, with Detect Magic you can detect faint Necromantic magic from the amulet.
chris107: No trace of the evil bitch must remain for the Nerathi to work their magic.
Amalric: chuck it overboard too
chris107: Melt it first
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, melt it first.
chris107: in case her wicked spirit is kept within
chris107: H makes the sign to ward off evil
Amalric: good idea
Smon: You throw the amulet overboard after blasting it with several blasts of Sacred Flame, partly melting it.
Smon: ok?
Kjato Ragfoot: And do not be that rash with killing again. With the Nerathi, we must ensure they stay dead.
chris107: agreed
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, that sounds well.
chris107: "Now we need to know where to strike first."
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. Can I Detect Evil on the amulet before melting it?
Amalric: "I didn't see you volunteer to kill the witch. She's dead, thats all that matters - that, and the fact we were right about her all along."
chris107: "Oh I agree Rey."
Kjato Ragfoot: The Nerathi are powerful with death magic. It is only a transitionary state for them.
chris107: "She was wicked and a powerful enemy. She had to die."
Smon: >>Thuruar, with Detect Magic you can detect faint Necromantic magic from the amulet.<<
chris107: "And be kept dead. Now we must strike."
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, but is it EVIL.
Smon: GM: The Lady Spite comes in to dock at Sarene's den, greeted by her deputy on the quayside, his own blonde Nerathi slave priestess in tow.
chris107: "I say we strike at Oriax. If we can free the good folks of Selatine it will send a message to the other Ghinarean Lords that we are with them."
Smon: Sarene looks doubtfully at the blonde, then to Rey. "Er, do we kill all the priests?"
chris107: "We need to unite them to fight with us agin the Nerathi."
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, I have one more Zone of Truth. LEt's figure out whether she is that zealous as well.
chris107: good idea Kjato
Smon: Sarene calls down to Coran Greywolf her deputy as the ship is tied off: "Hey Coran! Our guests need to have a word with Amber there!"
chris107: "Also by slaying Oriax we lessen our enemies by one."
Amalric: "Not that one, she's ho....honest enough."
Kjato Ragfoot: (What gods do the Nerathi pray to? Thanatos?)
chris107: Hakeem looks side long at Rey but says nothing
chris107: (Has he been charmed I wonder?)
Kjato Ragfoot: (Rey simply collects pretty women as other people collect stamps or beer bottles)
Amalric: (he was going to say "hot", but stopped himself  )
chris107: (true  )
Smon: GM: The ship gangplank falls, Sarene speaks briefly with Coran then turns to Hakeem. "The Clan Moot is still ongoing, but the Chiefs will be leaving soon. If you want to address them before they leave we should return there today."
chris107: (I think we should update them. Get there advice too)
Smon: Sarene takes Amber's slave chain and tugs it. "Okay blondie, this nice war cleric needs to ask you a few questions first."
chris107: (But it's up to the other guys)
Smon: Amber's eyes open wide.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 8,
Kjato Ragfoot: (Does she have a black sun amulet as well?)
Smon: Thuruar vaguely remembers the main Nerathi deity is Erathis, their name for Athena. Darker gods include Zehir (Seth) and Bane (Ares).
Smon: You don't see any Black Sun on her.
chris107: So the ancient Nerathi were Thanatar worshipers?
chris107: Like the one we found past the Wight?
Kjato Ragfoot: (If I remember correctly, Foxwood considered the Thanatos worshipper an enemy)
chris107: (Or pretended to?)
chris107: (hehe wheels within corrupt wheels in this game  )
Smon: Thanatos is the Ghinarian death god, in Nerathi lore he was slain by Raven Queen who took his portfolio.
Smon: Nerathi call him Nerull the Dead.
Smon: They don't worship him as far as you know.
Smon: Amber has a small lion pendant, the symbol of Mitra-Apollo.
chris107: Mmmmmmm
chris107: "Do you know Lady Foxwood Amber?"
Smon: /roll d20+2
Smon rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 5, (+2) = 7
Smon: She is Truthed.
chris107:
chris107: Useful spell
Kjato Ragfoot:
Kjato Ragfoot: All bow to the wisdom of Athena!
Smon: Amber: "Foxwood? Yes, the Emissary of Neo-Nerath, she visited Hara years ago."
chris107: yay
chris107: "Have you had contact with her since then?"
Smon: Amber looks down. "She met with Namelin Bronze, who is now Lord of Hara. Since he overthrew the Lady Earani Cor."
Smon: Amber shakes her head. "I have not dealt with her. She is of the Black Sun."
Kjato Ragfoot: What can you tell us about the Black Sun?
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 15,
Smon: lucky
Smon: Amber pauses. "A cult... more than a cult. They seek to use Necromancy to restore the Empire."
Smon: "Their power comes from the Gate-Castle of the Black Sun, far to the North. There Morthor Coff controls the Gateway to another Dimension.... the World of the Black Sun."
Smon: "Energy... Energy is channelled to the followers of the Black Sun. It gives them great power. They have raised armies of the Dead. They rule west of the mountains."
chris107: (Maybe that should be our target? Cut off their power.)
Smon: Sarene nods to Hakeem's whisper.
10:11pm  2015-11-07 Eliana Has entered the room
Kjato Ragfoot: Amber, what do you think of the Black Sun's plan?
Amalric: "See? She's one of the good ones!"
Smon: Amber: "Some followers of the Black Sun revere Erathis, others Zehir..."
*Eliana hides behind a bush.....*
Smon: (hi Eli)
chris107: "Have you any hatred for or plans against the Altani or sarene?"
Smon:
chris107: Hi Eli
Eliana: (Hi!)
Smon: Amber looks to Hakeem & Sarene, crimsons, then looks to Thuruar. "It is wrong. It is not the way. The Bright Empire reborn in such darkness will be a nightmare. They will corrupt and destroy our most precious memories."
Smon: Amber takes a deep breath. "There are those who oppose the Black Sun... but we have cause to hate the Altani, too. You ravage our lands. You make us slaves..."
Smon: Sarene shrugs. "To the victor the spoils."
Kjato Ragfoot: I am quite sure Sarene takes everyone salve who looks useful and does not run quickly enough.
Kjato Ragfoot: But yes, there is much bad blood between Altani and Nerathi.
chris107: "The black sun must not rise."
Smon: Amber chews her bottom lip. "Earani Cor is the true Lady of Hara. She would not join with the Black Sun, so their agents fomented rebellion against her. The Rangers of the Wode oppose the Black Sun. But they must also protect our people..."
chris107: "It is the way of the Altani to take what they will. But with the sword, not foul necromany."
Kjato Ragfoot: Do you think, would be the Nerathi resistance be willing to ally with the Lords of the Ghanarian hills against the Black Sun and the Altani against the black sun?
chris107: (I wonder if these Rangers and goodly priests would join with us v the black sun?)
Smon: Sarene: "We Altanians were here first, slave girl. You Alryans - Nerathi - came down from the north, built your empire. But you weren't strong enough to hold it. Your time is past."
Smon: Amber looks to Sarene, Hakeem, Thuruar, then down.
chris107: (Not at Rey?  )
Kjato Ragfoot: (Well, she looks down when it would be Reys turn...)
Smon: (He's been quiet!) Amber: "I know people who will fight the Black Sun - if we have a chance to win. But our people are few. Their survival must be assured..."
Smon: Sarene: "You sound a bit like Foxwood there, slave."
chris107: "Do you or have you ever served the black sun or any of their agents?"
Amalric: (sorry getting a cuppa and catching up!)
Smon: Amber looks to Hakeem, shakes her head. "No. I swear. They are a Foulness."
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. I do not think so. She lacks the zealous hate for all non-Nerathi live.
Amalric: "She's not a Foxwood - see? Her tongue isn't forked..."
Amalric:
chris107: Hakeem nods at Sarene
Smon: Amber: "I... I would wish for Nerathi and Altani to live in peace."
Amalric: "Wouldn't we all."
Amalric: ("And we all like a piece, don't we? Eh? Nudge-nudge!")
chris107: (hakeem is not too sure)
Smon: CHA check Rey
Amalric: "If she knows people who would fight on our side, then she could be a useful ally. Or tool."
Smon: Rey roll d20+9 for Persuasion
Amalric rolls 1d20 and gets: 10,
Smon: only 19!
Amalric: ah, couldn't remember how many plusses! eventually just rolled, 19 will suffice
chris107: "We need to start making ally's against the black sun.
chris107: (Loosing your touch Graham!  )
Smon: Amber looks up at Rey and smiles slightly, but is not as... overawed... by his presence as he's used to.
Amalric: she'll come round
Smon: (I think that's the first time you've got under 25!)
Amalric: (Amber is one of my favourite names, btw)
chris107: OOC - so what have we learned?
Amalric: (would have named my eldest that, if not for the fact the the missus has spent the year before working with someone named Amber, who was a cow!)
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, she is definitely not an enemy unless we make her one.
Amalric: (*had spent)
chris107: 1) Oriax has made his move and taken Selatine. We must assume that won't be his only target.
Smon: GM: You go outside the chamber to chat I assume, leaving Amber inside.
chris107: yup
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, now that we established Amber does not need to die, she can go on with her slave duties.
chris107: 2) The Black Sun draw their power from a shrine in the North. Gate Cstle.
chris107: 3) The Nerathi number those who could be allies, including the Rangers.
Amalric: Amber isn't any use to us as a slave. Can we buy her freedom?
Amalric: Rey will ask Sarene
Kjato Ragfoot: The Black Sun is actually not all Nerathi, but just a zealous sect among them.
chris107: yeah some even worship Athena
chris107: (Erathis?)
Kjato Ragfoot: I disagree on Oriax: He most likely only attacked Selantine because Hakeem, Bjornalf and Rey annoyed him once to often and then were not available for revenge.
Smon:
chris107: He is still a huge threat and thorn in our side.
chris107: And the liberation of Selatine would win us big brownie points with the other Ghinarean Lords...
Amalric: might have a point there Kjato
chris107: Who do we have as allies at the moment?
chris107: Lady Meda
chris107: The Grey Wolf and maybe other clans
Kjato Ragfoot: Still, I think The Black Sun is our main target right now.
chris107: The Apollo Mitre priests?
Kjato Ragfoot: Oriax is an annoyance, they are a threat.
Smon: >>Amber isn't any use to us as a slave. Can we buy her freedom? Amalric: Rey will ask Sarene<< Sarene: "Sure... But she is my only Magic Healer. Normally I'd say a thousand gold... But to you, five hundred." She grins.
Kjato Ragfoot: Or, to quote a famous otherwordly being: "I would hold hands with Thanatos to stop the Black Sun from rising".
chris107: What about the Yusan and the forces of theCitadel of Water?
chris107: Hakeem thinks this through his slow mind....
Kjato Ragfoot: Well. Bjornalf would have a different opinion on this matter, but Thuruar does not have such a strong connection to water.
Smon: Sarene: "The Black Sun will be looking to take out Yusan eventually. He must know that."
chris107: "Then we strike at Morthor Coff at Gate Castle? Strike the head from the serpent and trust our allies to hold off the black sun?"
Smon: She kicks a pebble with her boot.
chris107: "Sarene, you think we can count on Yusan as an ally? Even only a fair weather one."
Smon: Sarene nods. "Makes sense. If that's where the energy to power their zombie armies comes from..."
Amalric: do we have 500 gold?
chris107: We just took a load of stuff from the Lichway
Smon: Sarene looks up at Hakeem, grins. "Funny thing about Yusan... I think you and he would get along swell."
chris107: Maybe that will do?
Kjato Ragfoot: I would say so. Stop the Black Sun, because the dead vastly outnumber the living.
chris107: "Ha! I knew it!" H grins broadly
Smon: She grins more broadly. "I've met him and... the likeness is uncanny."
Kjato Ragfoot: (Rey you have 750 gold from the Gorgon dungeon)
Smon: Sarene seems to be hiding something.
Amalric: "You've....met Yusan?"
chris107: "Sarene, are you with us?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem is Yusan
Kjato Ragfoot: 's long lost twin brother?
Smon: Sarene nods. "Oh yeah, we brigand lords all get along you know..."
Amalric: Yusan's bastard
Amalric: "To what end? What have you and Yusan got?"
chris107: Sarene, raiding and pillage is fun...
Smon: Sarene shakes her head to Thuruar, grins at Rey. "If the rumours are true... Better go speak to your mother, Hakeem."
chris107: "WHAT?!"
chris107: "Yusan was my father?!"
Smon: Sarene shrugs. "It was a bit before my time, but... that's what I heard."
Amalric: Rey chortles...smirks...then breaks into full-on guffaws of laughter
chris107: (We have a lot to think about chaps   )
Amalric: when Rey finally stops laughing, after half an hour or so, he repeats his previous question
Amalric: "What agreement do you have with Yusan?"
chris107: Well we probably better try getting him on side before we go to Gate Castle.
Kjato Ragfoot: (We should make sure that Yusan and Hakeem does not meet alone on top of a tower. OTherwise, we need a giant falcon to save him)
chris107: (  )
Smon: Sarene to Rey: "Yusan has the land, I have the sea. We do a bit of trade, and we leave Ahyf alone so we have someone to sell to."
Amalric: "Can't argue with that."
Amalric: "Always like Ahyf myself."
chris107: Sarene, could you broker a meeting?
Smon: LOL @Kjato
chris107: Mmmmmm Oriax is a necromancer?
Smon: Sarene nods to Hakeem. "Reckon so. Yusan can't attend the Clan Moot, for obvious reasons... and the Wise Women won't be happy knowing you're working with him."
Smon: (Oriax has shown no sign of necromancy)
Amalric: "Yusan can't attend the Clan Moot...because he has too many exes there?!" Rey laughs again
chris107: "Bah as Thur said. We must work with those we would not usualy to assure the Dark Sun does not rise again."
chris107: Ahyf then? In secret?
Smon: Sarene to Rey: "Because he killed the Red Tiger's Psychic Defender. They take that personally."
chris107: (thanks Simon)
chris107: Hakeem is no politician however.
Smon: Sarene: "There's a village on the coast of the Vale in Yusan territory where I usually meet him - he might come see us there, if not at the Citadel."
chris107: And would prefer just to walk up to the citadel of Water
Amalric: "Secret liaison? I'm all in favour of those."
Amalric: Rey winks at Sarene
chris107: Kjato, Graham. My vote would be for forming an allience between our current allies and Yusan to defend the Hills while we go and visit Morthor Coff with a big sword.
Smon: Sarene: "The Red Tigers train all the Clans' Psychic Defenders, so you can imagine how popular Yusan is... " she winks back at Rey.
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. We send Rey to soothe the Red Tigers. If they are female led, that should be a safe bet.
chris107: hehe
Amalric: LOL
Kjato Ragfoot: Then we convince Yusan to postpone any other aggressions till we stopped the Black Sun.
Kjato Ragfoot: Then we go north and shut that gate.
Smon: The Red Tigers have a male war chief & Wise Women to henpeck him, like most Altani clans.
chris107: Thinking outside the box here. But will allying ourselves with Yusan drive a wedge between the Altani Tribes?
10:50pm  2015-11-07 Oculus Orbus Has exited the room
chris107: (Hakeem harbours daydreams of leading a united confederation of Altani tribes to ride over the Nerathi, over the Rewd Reavers and then sacking the CSIO )
Amalric: (sounds good)
Kjato Ragfoot: I considered more of a non aggression pact and a mutual agreement that the Nerathi are the most dangerous predator around for the moment.
Smon: Sarene: "I'm willing to sail you down to the Vale and Yusan - even down to the Red Tiger moot in Oricha if you wish, but their chief is at our moot right now."
Smon: Hakeem could be the next Larsandrow Longsword! Or Bondorr himself come again!!!
chris107: "Then we must get the Clanmoot's opinion on these points."
chris107: (Right before we do whatever we damn well please  )
Kjato Ragfoot: Bondorr Reborn?
chris107:
chris107: Yusan is said to have Bondorr's sword...
Amalric: well maybe you'll inherit it...being his son and all
chris107: Or take it from his cold dead hand?
chris107: To the Clanmoot then?
Smon: Sarene: "Let's saddle up - I'll take Amber."
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, Clanmoot for now. That with the Black Sun is important and needs to be discussed.
Amalric: agreed
chris107: agreed
Smon: GM: You saddle up horses and leave Sarene's den, heading north-west across the plain to the great dolmens that mark the location of the Clan Moot.
chris107: now we get the 6
Smon: The sun is setting as you reach the Moot, bathing the land Altani-red.
Smon: A small group of Red Elf traders are at the Moot now - strange, elongated creatures with pointed ears and alien, slanted eyes.
Smon: Most of the Clans are still present, and the chiefs gather to hear your counsel.
Smon: Beklomda Mor is busy judging a wrestling contest for the young braves, the prize a kiss from her fair lips.
chris107: ewwww
Smon: Old Vorkes greets you as you ride into the gathering: "Hail, Hakeem! Hail, Sarene and Companions! What news of Nerath?"
Smon: You see Kaag, arm around Hakeem's mother Gnubis, but not looking too happy, glaring over at the Wise Women who denied him the Greywolf chieftainship.
chris107: "Of which Nerath chief Vorkes?"
chris107: "For we have found two....."
chris107: "Our ancient enemies, the Black Son bastards. And of those willing to stand with us..."
Smon: The Chiefs of Seawolf and Red Tiger are also in attendance, along with the Western clans, among them the metal man Bulwark.
Smon: You see Kaag, arm around Hakeem's mother Gnubis, but not looking too happy, glaring over at the Wise Women who denied him the Greywolf chieftainship.
Smon: There is some muttering, Vorkes waves it to silence.
Smon: Vorkes: "Go on, Sword Knight."
chris107: "But this will not matter. For we will all be dead or worse the dead servants of the black son!"
Smon: The Westerners nod in agreement at that.
chris107: "This will happen. Unless we stand together."
chris107: "We can fight each other in the Happy Hunting Grounds. But we will only loose our souls in hell
chris107: If we die here to Nerath
Smon: Minars Rapak, the mighty Seawolf clan chief, rises. "Sword Knight Hakeem! May I speak?"
chris107: and their wicked magic
chris107: (OOC Please do. One too many glass here tonight
Smon: MInars addresses Hakeem and the crowd of assembled Altani. "Warriors! Women! Now is the time to fight!" The men cheer.
chris107: "Yes mighty Minars Rapak."
Smon: "As noble Hakeem says, we must Unite to crush the Nerathi!"
chris107: Yay!
11:08pm  2015-11-07 Eliana Has exited the room
Smon: "We know now they are coming east, to take the ruins of their dead city, Nera. They will clash with the Gnolla - savage and evil, but no longer the Ten Thousand Fangs of White Ruin."
Kjato Ragfoot: And what good does crushing an enemy who ranks the death among his armies?
Kjato Ragfoot: We need to cut the source of their vile magic.
Smon: "As they face the Gnolla in front, we shall fall upon them from the rear, a mighty host. They shall be overrun, living and dead alike..."
Smon: He turns to Thuruar. "We will leave none alive to Raise their dead!"
Smon: "Cut the source? How?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Did not one of your Sword Knights himself told us about some of their soldiers raising themselves?
Kjato Ragfoot: Their magic is powered by a portal in the far norht.
Smon: Minars looks unsure.
Kjato Ragfoot: They have a pact with some infernal realm, that grants them unheard power about the dead.
chris107: "It's true."
chris107: "We heard it from the lips of the witch Foxwood. before we threw her head in the sea."
Smon: Bulwark the Warforged steps forward. "We have heard rumours of such a place. The Gate Castle of the Black Sun. Beyond Valera, beyond the Clashing Rocks."
Kjato Ragfoot: But that pact depends on a gate opened between our realm and that infernal domain. If we close the portal, their power will be diminished.
Smon: The Western clansmen nod.
Smon: Vorkes nods. "A Great Quest! Close the Gate of the Black Sun, and Nerath will fall!"
chris107: "Wise words indeed."
Smon: Bulwark: "Aye - but it is just rumour... and a long way away. We cannot send an army..."
Smon: Minars: "We cannot risk all on rumour! We must strike now! This is our chance!"
chris107: "A small group of brave men could do it..
Smon: The chiefs consider, most nodding.
Amalric: "I'm in," says Rey
Kjato Ragfoot: I volunteer for this quest as well.
chris107: "And me."
Smon: Kaag Tiger-Killer steps forward, war axe raised. "And I!"
Smon: Sarene looks thoughtful... "And I... offer you the aid of this Nerathi slave Amber. She may aid your journey."
chris107:
Smon: Vorkes nods. "It is good! Any others?"
Amalric: "Gee thanks, don't push yourself."
Amalric:
Amalric: "Could use another good sword arm, Sarene..."
chris107: (Now we need the wise woment to back our political plans)
Smon: Bulwark: "My friends, I will offer aid and such guidance as I can, but I cannot leave my people for so long. We are hard pressed by Nerath."
Kjato Ragfoot: We also have good news. The Black Sun is so despiccable, even some Nerathi are fighting it.
Smon: Hakeem looks over the crowd, catches the eye of the Wise Woman Kala, Vorkes' wife. She steps forward.
Smon: Kala: "We will consult the Omens, and give our counsel."
Smon: Kaag mutters: "Oh, great..."
Smon: Minars looks to Thuruar: "Dissension among the Nerathi is good! Let the jackals fight!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Be careful - jackals tend to join the larger pack when threatened.
Smon: Kala and the assembled Wise Women of the several clans confer, like a band of cawing ravens.
Smon: Vorkes: "Explain, priest Thuruar. Who fights the Black Sun?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Among others, the Lady of Earani Cor and her Rangers of the Wode.
Smon: You see Kala placing a hand on the foreheads of Laara Greywolf and Valyara Rapak, the Psychic Defenders of Greywolf and Seawolf. The girls shudder, eyes rolling back. Kala shivers.
Kjato Ragfoot: If you are willing to come to an agreement with them, they at least won't harm you fight against the Black Sun - if they do not even help you.
Kjato Ragfoot: But, if you threaten them with extermination, they will have no choice but to join the Black Sun.
Smon: Vorkes: "Earani Cor is just a slave-whore now. Namelin Bronze is Lord of Hara. But the Rangers of the Wode might be another matter. They have dealt fairly with us in the past. On your journey west, meet with them - give them that slave girl (Amber) perhaps..."
chris107: cool with me
Smon: Kala Greywolf nods to Laara the young psychic defender, who steps forward a little uncertain.
Smon: Laara: "I - I have seen! A great battle on the Plain of Gedden. The hosts of Altanis. The strength of our people...."
Kjato Ragfoot: I thus propose you should send an ambassador to the Rangers of the Wode, as to establish some kind of truce - and be it just against a common enemy.
Smon: (Vorkes just proposed you as ambassadors)  Minars Rapak smiles at Laara's words.
Smon: Laara: "DESTROYED! Bloody slaughter! The countless dead! Dead, but not dead - risen to kill again! Kill for the Black Sun!"
Smon: Minars gawps.
Smon: Laara: "War Chiefs! If you fight Nerath now, all will end in a sea of fire and blood!"
Smon: Sarene grins, whispers to Rey and co: "That's what we keep 'em Psychics around for..."
chris107: Clever girl
Amalric: "Come in useful, I must say..."
Smon: Kala steps forwards: "Laara and Valyara have seen the future that will come if we face Nerath in their full power. There will come a time to fight - but it is not this day. Let them spend their strength on the Gnolla. Let them feel secure. All the while a small band of heroes will be moving north, a dagger to their heart. Then - when the Black Sun falls - then will be our time."
Smon: Minars sighs sadly, knowing he cannot defy the Wise Women.
Smon: Vorkes nods: "Then it is decided. We will avoid battle for now, save our strength while Knight Hakeem leads his band to close the Black Sun Gate."
chris107: Yay!
chris107: (Hi Band)
Smon: Kaag grins, hefting his axe: "We will not fail!"
chris107: Guys I got to go. Thanks for a great game
Smon: Sarene: "You'll be going close to Antil territory, Lord Reynard - a chance to meet your relatives." She grins.
11:38pm  2015-11-07 chris107 Has exited the room
Smon: ok, will stop there.
Smon: Can you do Thursday next week G & K?
Amalric: "Right...can hardly wait. Want to meet your future in-laws?"
Smon: LOL
Amalric: yes I can do Thursday
