saunatonttu: hey smon
chris107: Morning Simon
Smon: Morning
sandor sunneson: Morning Simon, welcome to HakeemWorld
Smon:
chris107: That helm in the wrong hands could undo all our good work.
chris107: Imagine a Black Sun assassin getting hold of it and putting it on Hakeem?
sandor sunneson: You still would control him though
sandor sunneson: You'd just have to start attacking your friends and enemies
chris107: I've worked too long and too hard to throw it all away.
sandor sunneson: Don't think Don will be coming back
chris107: It's a short cut to, hello NPC Hakeem
chris107: I doubt he will.
sandor sunneson: A 1e harm spell and a headbut on the nose would deal with him in that circumstance
sandor sunneson:
chris107: I like Don, but I couldn't have him in my game for long. I'd go crackers.
sandor sunneson: So we left it at the evening feast
sandor sunneson: true
chris107: We must arrange for a huge funeral pyre and deal with the Warbringers body too. Not wise to leave piles of carrion on the field when you are fighting necromancers.
saunatonttu: what did Don do this time?
chris107:
chris107: Just be Don.
Smon: So like I said, was planning to do l3 group today - updated local map with Stonehell https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5abrABRu89Ke2MIgS_-EuqPtG5onZFjYI77jEjsaW9YWuusKyoeYJZJ8fgdOzfFJRlt-G23kph-4jbLanQNdYOMwXq9a5l4-N0ZJwOgyl_u3Ia4f0tSu70ZwebY5qVvGglsL0NkZ-hJY/s1600/Selatine+Area.jpg But if you want to discuss high level stuff can do that.
sandor sunneson: true
saunatonttu: simon, did you get my PM?
sandor sunneson: ok, that's fine, think Sandro
Smon: Don kept creatively reinterpreting his spells.
chris107: Happy either way. Mordred is only a few hundred XP off 4th I think?
Smon: Then arguing about it.
sandor sunneson: Was this taking the stick to the temple?
Smon: Yes XP +305 Total 305+2145=2450/2700
saunatonttu: ah, very Donian
7:33am 2017-9-23 saunatonttu Has exited the room
chris107: You happy to explore Stonehell with Sandro, Fergus?
sandor sunneson: Yes
Smon: Sandor brings the staff to the Temple of Belaras without further incident. The high priest thanks him and gives him a reward of 100gp.
sandor sunneson: Not played him for yonks, lets go
7:33am 2017-9-23 saunatonttu Has entered the room
sandor sunneson: Cool
Smon: OOC I feel pretty grotty but will do my best.
chris107: Mordred fusses with his wizard's sleeve. Freeing Misha to flap around.
chris107: Cold?
chris107: wb Sauns
Smon: No, mostly pain esp in my arms/wrists/fingers
sandor sunneson: Hungover??
Smon: no
saunatonttu: okay, i think i have sent the recruiting PMs for the day
sandor sunneson: oooh, doesn't sound good. Get well soon
saunatonttu: smon, welcome to join the neo-Lounge
sandor sunneson: if it gets too much, just say Simon
chris107: Ouch
saunatonttu: and pain
sandor sunneson: I need to leave at 09.30ish anyway
chris107: Yeah, don't make yourself poorly.
Smon: I haven't seen any pms
saunatonttu: oh, wait a sec
saunatonttu: i'll resend it
saunatonttu: now?
chris107: @ DM, where will Sandro likely meet us?
Smon: Sandor catches up to Zagaar & Mordred as they approach Stonehell from the east.
Smon: Smon: Passing through scraggly scrub forest, you soon spot a gap in the cliffs... Smon: /roll d6 Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1, chris107: Got you Smon: Nothing menaces you as you approach along a game-track, and see ahead the ancient Nerathi wall spanning the east end of the box canyon from n to s. Smon: Two great gaps appear in the wall towards n and s ends, while the central gatehouse seems largely intact. chris107: Misha gracefully swoops around looking for trouble Smon: Rabbits scatter in panic as Misha swoops by. Smon: The hot noon sun beats down overhead. Smon: Misha reports that beyond the ruined wall are the remains of ruined and overgrown buildings in the canyon. Prince Skylio: Z drools over the fleeing rabbits "i'm too hungry to chase them" chris107: OOC Can Misha catch a rabbit for our lunch? Smon: At the far end of the canyon are several caves, a waterfall and a large central doorway. Smon: make an attack roll for Misha chris107 rolls 1d20 and gets: 16, Smon: Misha returns proudly hauling a large juicy rabbit.
chris107: Mordred is very proud of Misha.
Smon: There are two gaps in the curtain wall that blocks the e end of the canyon, near n and s ends.
chris107: and will feed her tidbits from the rabbit once the Orc has cooked it.
chris107: Is Sandro with us?
sandor sunneson: yes
Smon: The gatehouse doors lie rotting on the ground, beyond a dark tunnel leads through the wall into the canyon.
Smon: Sandor joins you at your rabbit-lunch a hundred yards or so east of the wall.
chris107: "That looks exciting. Shall we?"
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 3,
chris107: "Do you want to search my stealthy friend?"
saunatonttu: (okay, off, gave a good game folks!)
chris107: (OOC I hear Zagaar stiring upstairs )
sandor sunneson: yeah, Sandro will g and have a sniff around
sandor sunneson: ciao Sauna
chris107: (Have good Hokey & Footy)
Smon: Nestling between 200' high limestone cliffs, the canyon is a natural defile 150' n-s, narrowing as it heads west.
Smon: bye sauna
7:42am 2017-9-23 saunatonttu Has exited the room
sandor sunneson: Sandro will keep to the side of the canyon and go for a root around
Smon: Where are you going Sandor - n or s side?
chris107: Mordred will hang back 100' or so and watch the Monk do his stuff. Misha stashed safely away for now.
sandor sunneson: anyside in the shade
sandor sunneson: say north
sandor sunneson: assuming there is shade, if not south
Smon: it's noon, the sun hangs high overhead. Insects buzz lazily in the sunlight.
Smon: There's a teeny bit of shade from the n canyon wall.
Smon: Sandor approaches the n gap in the wall - roll Stealth
sandor sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 1,
chris107:
sandor sunneson: lol

Smon: Sandor passes through the breach.
chris107: never to be seen again...
sandor sunneson: lol
chris107: Mordred looks on, concerned.
Smon: Beyond he can see the remains of 4 large ruined buildings avg ca 40' across.
subaltari: :waves:
sandor sunneson: What does he see?
sandor sunneson: any beings?
sandor sunneson: or signs of life?
chris107:
Smon: bits of stone wall, fallen timbers, thick growths of weeds.
Smon: hi subs
subaltari:
sandor sunneson: Sandro will call the other through
subaltari: new room name, I see
Smon: For a moment Sandor thinks he sees a figure in the nw ruins, then realises it is a lichen-covered statue of a man, kneeling on one knee with bowed head.
chris107: Mordred hears the stealthy bellow and creeps forward. He will use his light cantrip to illuminate his blade.
sandor sunneson: Just a few ruined buildings ahead
Smon: A stone helmet at his side.
chris107: "You have checked them thoroughly for enemies?"
sandor sunneson: Sandor??
chris107: "Why would a sculpure carve the helmet seperately?"
chris107: "You haven't checked anything at all, Sandro, have you?"
chris107: asks a sceptical Mordred.
sandor sunneson: Sandro just saying what he saw ahead, he will then go off and suss out the area round the bukding on far left
Smon: There are several entrances into the cliffs, the nearest to Sandor is on the n side about 100' past the curtain wall.
sandor sunneson: Give us a chance
Smon: brb
chris107: @ DM , so the buildings are between the curtain wall and the cliff?
sandor sunneson: How ruined are they? Can you go inside them or they all like Huntly castle?
chris107: only haunted with Medusa
Smon: i'm going to post the canyon map - https://wiki.rpg.net/images/5/5e/Stonehell_Canyon.png
chris107: Very cool map
chris107: We are at A I take it?
Smon: The ruins are like Kildrummy castle Fergus, no roofs, walls mostly fallen.
subaltari: has a Caves of chaos vibe to it
sandor sunneson: cool, thanks Simon
Smon: Sandor is just past the n A.
sandor sunneson: We'll aim for 2,3,4 and 5 first
chris107: Mordred will lurk against the southern wall of the n A
Smon: He can see the arch into 2 say 50' ahead.
Smon: #9 is the ruin w the statue.
Smon: You can make DC 18 INT+Prof checks to assess it.
sandor sunneson: he'll sneak along the left or right wall which is better covered and enter 2

sandor sunneson: nice
Smon: Glancing south out of the chamber into the canyon, Mordred sees the shape of a tawny Mountain Lion, it appears to be following his trail but has not seen him yet.
Smon: But it is approaching the chamber.
chris107: Can he Thunderwave it? Try and drive it off.
chris107: (When it comes within 10')
Smon: Sure, Mordred lurks, readying Thunderwave.
Smon: What is Sandro doing?

Smon: The thunderous boom echoes off the canyon walls.
chris107: "Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaah"
Smon: The cat gets to its feet, shaking its head.
sandor sunneson: Sandro jumps

8:06pm 2017-9-21 Smon Has entered the room
8:07pm 2017-9-21 Prince Skylio Has entered the room
chris107: Evening
Smon: last session http://smons.blogspot.co.uk/2017/09/level-3-3347-nightshadow-lucretia.html
chris107: Ah, yes. We are heading back to town to get our rewards and check out the spell book?
Smon: GM: Yes
Prince Skylio:
Smon: You can escort Lady Lucretia back to Selatine & claim your reward while Sandro delivers his stick.
chris107: Cool
chris107: Mordred berates Sandro for his lack of work ethic
Smon: Skipping forward a couple days... Once you reach the port town of Selatine the mysterious stranger Nightshade claims his reward from Lucretia then takes ship north. You can't help feeling there was something a little... sinister... about that man.
chris107: Deffo
Smon: Lady Lucretia gives you each a fat bag of coin (+100gp each)
chris107: noice
Smon: Lady Jana Vex thanks you for saving her ally Lucretia of Rallu, whose great three-masted galleon sits at anchor at the Selatine docks.
Prince Skylio: welcome mon
chris107: Mordred gives a florid bow of acceptance
Smon: The shapely Jana seems stamped from similar mould to Lucretia, at least in form, but is known to be a competent Priestess of Mitra.
chris107: "If we may be of any further assistance?"
Smon: Jana: "You are welcome to stay at my Hall, good sirs." She looks to Mordred. "Yes indeed! When you are recovered from your recent exertions..."
Smon: "...There is a task you could help us with. I hear you are Adventurers, well used to delving dank holes..."
chris107: "A good bed would not go amiss. Perhaps you have a stable where my friend could stay?"
Prince Skylio: Zagaar reflects on Berta. "you could say that.."
chris107:
chris107: "Why we have had some success in that department, yes."
Smon: Selatine - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiY-tTN1-PGpWJO8KgigZ1cDvmsGs0rog9tiSyFGd8HMxzL-zlaw1hkSrL9wyT0RhJlYHQDqtUFNQMm8SaqReqrkm6vlQrscQu4dabXzZodW6vMaB9W2lV2n3rp6n9vSn3WU2XFgtoz0mU/s400/Selatine.png - you are at Vex villa.
chris107: Mordred marvels at the wonders of modern plumbing.
Smon: Lady Jana nods. "We have stables, but both of you are welcome in my Hall. We have plenty of private rooms here."
chris107: "You are most gracious."
Prince Skylio: "Stable is good for me."
Smon: Vex Villa is an odd place. The architecture seems strange, the angles not quite right, as if built by a subtly inhuman hand. Beyond the slightly crooked doorway are passages, not of the ivory coloured stone that coats the exterior of the villa, but of a silvery metal.
chris107: "Thank you. A week to rest and study my new book would be most welcome."
Smon: Jana regards Zagaar with puzzlement. "As you prefer."
Smon: She nods to two warriors standing near her - a shapely raven-haired female and a tall, dark & muscular man. "This is Epicaste & Vuthrik, my captains, both lately of Thracia. Vuthrik may wish to discuss matters with you."
chris107: "I should inform the royal sheepherder my lady..."
Smon: Jana looks puzzled. "Oh?"
Prince Skylio: "what's the deal"
chris107: "My Lady Epicaste, Master Vuthrik."
chris107: "Nothing my lady. You were saying?"
Smon: They nod cordially. Epicaste wears archaic bronze harness, Vuthrik is lightly armoured with a skull emblemed belt buckle.
Smon: Jana: "For now, let us eat."
Prince Skylio: "thank god"
Smon: She claps her hands and servants bring a sumptuous repast, far exceeding the fare of Bratanis. Especially if you like fish.
chris107: Mordred delicately samples the dishes on offer and samples small amounts of wine.
Prince Skylio: Z takes a tray of fish for himself and starts tucking in
chris107: "Ah, Fish! Yummers. My favourite."
Prince Skylio: "good *burp* shit"
Smon: At dinner you note that Lady Jana seems to have eyes only for a young initiate of Mitra, Opara.
chris107: (That will happen after Rey and Captain Harcourt have been with a girl... )
Smon: Lucretia & Brionny eat at high table, you eat with the warriors, including the Alces brothers who fought beside you to rescue Lucretia.
Smon: (Jana has had so much bad luck with men...)
chris107: Mordred resents been sat with the common herd but says nothing.
Prince Skylio: "So Jana, you got any sausage for this feast? Or is that not really your style?"
Smon: The warrior Vuthrik eats heartily at low table with you.
Smon: Zagaar calls over to the Lady.
Smon: CHA check
chris107: Mordred winces at the words Low and Table
Prince Skylio rolls 1d20-2 and gets: 4, (-2) = 2
chris107:
Prince Skylio:
Prince Skylio: back to cabbage lady
chris107: Such a charmer. Art reflecting life?
Smon: Lady Jana pointedly ignores uncouth Zagaar. Vuthrik: "Better mind your tongue, orc."
Prince Skylio: "sorry i'm just hungry"
chris107: "So, Vuthrik, how do you like the fish?"
Smon: Vuthrik chows through a Winedark Windtail, a fat blue fish.
Smon: "Good..."
chris107: "A fine table indeed. You are not native to selantine?"
Smon: Vuthrik swallow, quaffs some Ouzo. "No. I am last of the Deathwalkers. A dead race."
Smon: "I was saved from the Lizard Men by the Heroes, Hakeem and Shieldbiter the Dragonborn."
Smon: "Lady Vex has given me a new life. Now I serve her."
chris107: "My, that is a story to be told around the hearth for many years I am sure."
chris107: "Lady Vex hinted at some mission...."
Smon: A buxom brunette maid clears your plates. One of the Smith Alces brothers calls out to her: "Ho, sister! Have you met our battle companions?"
Smon: The shapely Alces wench shakes her head, regarding the two of you curiously.
Prince Skylio: "Evening love"
chris107: Mordred's cheeks go a little purple.
chris107: "Madam."
Smon: Vuthrik nods. "Aye, disturbing signs from our western border - hob-nailed boots... hobgoblins..."
Smon: The wench giggles. "Hi there! I'm Cleo."
Smon: Cleo Alces https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkwEI2D-OFR7zHa5Hz7mkuuCtURBtNUL0ODsaJmHTqD3Y5sSr3ZjViUNBGmuWFWVpS51RbTndMzd5PvLZdozWFnyxv4WORIp-d9Us8mDEzFpSslyf8iwDh6tddC_YLy0cSFRjQVNE962w/s400/123_14.jpg
chris107: "Foul beasts. And Hobgoblins you say?"
Smon: Selatine has the bustiest broads in all Ghinaria
chris107: "Zagar, do not stare so. It is uncooth."
Prince Skylio: "I'm Zagaar and my pussy friend here is Mordred" he gestures toward the ornathologist weirdo in the corner
Smon: Medus Alces is a bit drunk on Ouzo. "These two cut through the Brigands like wildfire! You should have seen Zagaar's hammer at work, sister... why twas almost as fine as our own blows!"
chris107: "So.... Hobgoblins to the North?" Mordred studiously ignores his stinky comrade.
Smon: Cleo smiles back: "Hello Zagaar... Are you a half-orc?"
Prince Skylio: "half orc half black guy" he winks
chris107: "More than half." Says M under his breath
Smon: Vuthrik: "To the west... in the hills eight miles west of here is a gorge, where once the Kings of Nerath built a prison, they say. The place has long been a nest for goblins and such... but now Hobgoblins."
Smon: Zagaar can attempt a CHA check, he has to get lucky some time surely!
Prince Skylio rolls 1d20-2 and gets: 11, (-2) = 9
chris107: "That sounds like just our thing does it not Zagaar? ZAGAAR!"
Smon: Well at least he doesn't vomit on her...
Prince Skylio: "uuuuuuh yeah i suppose so"
chris107:
Prince Skylio: haha
Smon: Cleo grins: "Bring me a nice gold treasure from the Dungeon Mr Zagaar!"
Smon: She sashays off to attend to the other guests & retinue.
Prince Skylio: "no worries"
chris107: "Any gold we find will be spent on useful things like swords and armour."
Smon: GM: Move on 1 week?
Prince Skylio: "stop being a bitch"
chris107: Mordred purses his lips and scowls after the brazen, gold digging trollop.
Prince Skylio: yes
chris107: Chance to read the spell book?
Smon: GM: You rest up, Mordred studies the book, and you train with Vuthrik & Epicaste.
Smon: yes
chris107: "Interesting techiques, not seen sword work like that before."
Smon: Epicaste smiles: "These are drills of ancient Thracia, a thousand years before your birth!"
Smon: "Did I tell you how I slumbered for centuries in frozen ice, before awakened by the touch of Hakeem..."
chris107: Mordred is intrigued to learn about these ancient customs. Even in the north the name of ancient Thracia is spoken with awe.
Smon: Epicaste looks strangely familiar https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN7jq7lJHhmUfqNzxMpMumOg6wA99oOGjOT342qzzPMVB3Z5NuQOWbTkxSn6996GglWOy40BKj7Am-aKH6qjdwSBiQNdJkjlcEv4J0buSFsjOyWnq8l_DqVc7pnaIIhuoB2rhcY6IcixE/s320/0+Epicaste.jpg
chris107: "Hakeem, now he sounds like a proper man. Just the kind of fellow you want about i a time of war."
Smon: "Yes, these are the battle techniques of the Golden Falcons!"
Smon: Epicaste nods: "They say soon he will face the Warbringer in the final battle, to decide the fate of the Cosmos!"
chris107: "Golden falcons? You have interests in Ornathology my lady? "
Prince Skylio: Zagaar farts loudly.
chris107: "Oh my! How exciting! I'm sure he will give this Warbringer fellow a proper thrashing!"
Smon: Epicaste: "We were the elite agents of King Agamemnos. Almost a millenium ago, I think."
Smon: She gives Zagaar a dirty look.
chris107: m enjoys the training and history lesson.
chris107: At nights he curls up with his new book and it's lights out by 10PM.
Prince Skylio: Zagaar retires to the stables to eat cockroaches and masturbate.
chris107: Then we prepare to do war upon Hobgoblins
Smon: Epicaste is well skilled with the shortsword, Vuthrik with the spear, and you learn a few tricks.
Smon: OOC AIR the book is the Septimus Severius with spells of level 1-7.
Smon: Did I give you any notes on it?
chris107: That sounds familiar
chris107: Just the name
Smon: "Septimus Severian - Enchantments of the 7 Ranks of Magicke"
Smon: Guess it's time for some rolls then...
Smon: my phb has vanished
chris107: have ours here
Smon: ok got it
Smon: level 1 spells roll 2d4
chris107 rolls 2d4 and gets: 1, 3, = 4
Smon: 4
Smon: ok roll d31 x4
chris107 Rolls 1d34x4 and gets:
14 = 14
26 = 26
8 = 8
14 = 14
Smon: Grease, Sleep, Disguise Self, roll again
chris107 rolls 1d34 and gets: 6
Smon: OOC make a note the book is "Septimus Severian - Enchantments of the 7 Ranks of Magicke"
Smon: Comprehend Languages
chris107: excellent! Taht can be learned as a ritual?
Smon: Mordred cannot comprehend the higher level spells yet
chris107: Having pen melt down here. I'll copy from the log in the morning.
chris107: "Very useful stuff this, Zagaar. If you left the sheep alone for 5 minutes you may learn something."
chris107: Can M learn the CL as a ritual?
Smon: GM There don't seem to be any rules for Eldritch Knights learning spells so I'll rule casting INT check vs DC 11 per spell.
Prince Skylio: "Simmer down Mordred I think I've got carpal tunnel in my right wrist after last evening"
Smon: If you make check you can master the spells.
chris107:
chris107: Okay, in the order written above
Smon: OOC My typing fingers are really sore, I think it's viking claw hand :\
chris107 Rolls 1d20+3x4 and gets:
2 (+3) = 5
11 (+3) = 14
3 (+3) = 6
13 (+3) = 16
Prince Skylio:
chris107: Comp Lang and Sleep?
Smon: yup
chris107: Comp Lang was the one he was really after.
chris107: so
Smon: Sleep is v good if you don't have already
chris107: Can M commission a special wrapping and satchel to contain his precious book?
chris107: in the week we are waiting?
Smon: sure
chris107: With sailcloth and suchlike waterproof lining?
chris107: Oilcloth.
Smon: The Alces bros knock you up a waterproof oilcloth satchel
Smon: 4gp
chris107: He would like it making out of soft leather and have a clasp with an M on it.
Smon: np
chris107:
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Smon: Vuthrik has been out scouting the wilderness west of Selatine.
chris107: M will exercise Misha each day too.
Smon: He comes back ok with a worried look. "Definitely hob-boots... and goblins too. They must be planning something, but we have too few men to march on them. Bring us ears and the Lady will pay a good bounty."
chris107: "Any sign of those beastly Hobgoblins? I'm eager to set steel to the rotters."
Smon: "Not seen any, just the tracks. Small groups, two to five I'd say."
chris107: "Zagaar! Fetch the verminator! We have work to do."
chris107: Mordred sneaks a peek at Z's ears. Wondering..."
Prince Skylio: "the verminator is always ready to claim the lives of scum who would oppose it's supreme justice"
Smon: Vuthrik: "The Lady Jana would like to see you before you go. In the Temple of Mitra."
chris107: "But of course. This way Zagaar. " M marches off smartly
Prince Skylio: Z spots Mordred's eyes twitch "go near my ears and i'll feed your genitals to the kobold we met."
Prince Skylio: "let's go..."
Smon: GM: At the Temple of Mitra a sermon is just finishing, the lovely Jana preaching to mostly the older women of Selatine about the Light of Mitra.
Smon: Her assistant Opara Kakas is waving the incense around enthusiastically.
chris107: Mordred is not keen on Mitra, the Lion or any type of cat come to that. But he holds his own council.
Smon: Among the mostly female supplicants you see the Alces brothers and white-bearded Happy Iocunnu, new manager of the Selatine Inn.
Smon: Jana nods to you as you enter, and finishes up. "...So mote it be. Go in Mitra's Light."
chris107: Mrdred wonders at the scum they ket into their churches. In Valon religion is for the gentry.
Prince Skylio: Z smiles at her then glances away. "lesbo" he murmers under his breath
Smon: As the crowd of black-shawled grannies lets out, Jana comes over to you, her white and gold priestess' robes straining to hold the rounded glories within. "Greetings" she smiles.
Prince Skylio: "hi"
chris107: Mordred's trade mark florid bow... "My Lady. A wonderful and inspiring sermon."
Smon: "Vuthrik tells me you will assist us. I have been researching the ancient prison in the Shrine records..."
Prince Skylio: "what of it"
Smon: Jana smiles delightedly at Mordred's compliment. "Thank you very much! I try to serve Mitra as best I may."
chris107: "Don't let Zagaars foolish looks put you off, he is a fierce warrior.£"
Smon: She turns to Zagaar. "The accounts say it was built more than 300 years ago, by a Vizier to the then King of Nerath. There are dark rumours that he used the inmates for ...experiments. They came to call it Stonehell."
chris107: "He will be smashing Hobgoblin skulls before you can say mitra's Blessings!"
Smon: She nods. "I believe it."
Prince Skylio: "sounds interesting enough"
chris107: A shudder runs down Mordred's spine. Some avareistic fear of the name StoneHell?
chris107: t
Smon: "The records are unclear, but it seems at last the Vizier was overthrown, the experiments ended. Still, few prisoners were liberated from the deeps. Some say they still dwell there, just as the Deathwalkers dwelt in fallen Thracia."
chris107: "Just the kind of thing we are looking for!"
Smon: "There are many, many such ruins in these parts, and this one was little remarked on for centuries. But with the destruction of Dyson's Delve, it seems perhaps the creatures of darkness have migrated north?"
chris107: "Then let us go forth and drive out this evil my ugly friend?"
chris107: "One thing, my Lady. I don't suppose you have any plate armour laying around? This old chainmail is falling off me."
Smon: "You heard how the great beast Dyson has arisen from the depths of his Delve, to join Hakeem against the Black Sun? Soon I must lead my men north to assist Lord Hakeem. I do not wish these hobgoblins to trouble Selatine in our absence. If you can deal with them I should be *most* grateful."
chris107: "We are your men, lady Vex. rely on us!"
Smon: Jana looks thoughtful. "I do believe we have a bronze harness that could be fitted to you, good sir."
chris107: "You would have my gratitude along with my service. M'Lady."
Smon: Jana smiles. "Go see Piergeron Alces, the Smith. He can assist."
chris107: M does so. With a further low bow.
Prince Skylio: "The Verminator may have received minor denting from pulverizing the skulls of those who oppose me. Any suggestions on where it could be refined to it's former glory"
Smon: GM: Piergeron, the father of the Alces brothers, is busy at his forge.
Smon: http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/colms-campaign-world/images/9/97/Gregor.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150515123328
Smon: "Yer hammer is dented, aye? Give it here!"
chris107: "Hail Mighty Smith! I come from lady Vex begging a favour."
Smon: Alces listens. "The Bronze harness! Aye, we can fit you.."
Prince Skylio: OOC reminds me of an older version of the smith from Dark Souls if you've played it https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=dark+souls+blacksmith&client=firefox-b-ab&dcr=0&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjF1O2Xm7fWAhXSZlAKHcC6DhMQ_AUICigB&biw=1366&bih=659#imgrc=FB1LSM-1cu_jDM:
Smon: His wiry daughter Benla brings the bronze half plate http://img03.deviantart.net/f404/i/2008/298/2/6/smith_girl_by_benlo.jpg
Prince Skylio: Z hands over The Verminator
Smon: It will need refitting for Mordred's rather slender torso.
chris107: "Thank you good sir. Perhaps for a suitable price you could fashion an owl upon the breastplate?
Smon: The smiths take Mordred's measurements.
Smon: Benla: "I'll do you a fine owl!"
chris107:
Smon: Alces: "Sure... twenty gold."
chris107: "A new satchel and some owly armour, Zagaar. Selantine seems to be the place where things start picking up for us!"
Smon: "Mind ye, this armour is still the Lady's property. Take good care of it."
chris107: "Done!"
Smon: It's like Disneyworld for PCs.
Prince Skylio: "how can your owl fly with armour on genius"
chris107: "Why of course. Thank you."
chris107:
chris107: "Oaf." he sneers at Zagaar
Smon: OOC I guess I deliberately make Selatine the PC-friendly "newbie town"
Smon: All dungeons graded to your capabilities.
chris107: Works for me. Though M & Z have a good few sessions under their belts now?
Smon: Alces: "Can you wait three days? Want to do a good job on this."
Smon: GM OOC This will be bronze half plate AC 15+DEX max +2
chris107: "Erm I think so. When does Lady Vex go to be with this man-God, Hakeem?"
chris107: Cool
chris107: Takes him to 19 with shield
Smon: yup
chris107: 24 with Shield spell
Smon: Alces shrugs: "Within the week, I think. The Ghinarian Lords gather at Cahli. My sons march with her, but I'll be staying here. Too old for war."
chris107: He will practice his ritual magic with the CL over the next few days too
Smon: "They say Hakeem plans to crush the Black Sun, once and for all."
chris107: "he does sound like a fine fellow. As her ladyship goes to war, we shall go fettle these Hobgoblins."
Smon: GM: The next 3 days pass swiftly. You see the Selatine men being trained by Vuthrik & Epicaste, some of the young women as Slingers by Aya the Shepherdess.
chris107: (OOC did she get the +1 sling bullets Hakeem left for her?)
Smon: 16/3/47 Mordred's armour is ready.
Smon: It looks *fabulous*
chris107:
chris107: And goes so well with his charming new satchel
Smon: The fierce owl in bas-relief on the bronze breastplate.
Smon: (presumably)
Prince Skylio: "gay"
chris107: "Zagaar, don't get your grubby finger marks near my new stuff."
chris107: He tips the smith a further 5GP. "Excellent work my friend!"
Smon: Piergeron Alces smiles proudly. "It will do ye well. I fitted it just right..."
chris107: "Yes, it is rather colourful, Zagaar."
Smon: Mordred finds the armour fits like a second skin.
Smon: SA: No disad on Stealth checks
chris107: He is well pleased with his time in Salantine
Smon: (make a note, I'll forget)
chris107:
Prince Skylio: "Congratulations Mordred. Fortunately the leggings protect your delicate vagina"
chris107: M scowls at the rough Orc
Smon: Piergeron: "You Orcs have strange Tongue."
Prince Skylio: "your women say that too"
chris107: Mordred dies of shame
Smon: "Hmmph. Word has come from the West, that Berta the Vast of Bratanis misses her lover..."
Smon: Piergeron seems unfazed by Zagaar.
Smon: "Do not keep such a flower waiting too long."
Smon: OOC go to 11pm ok?
chris107: Mordred shudders at the rememberence of the fat slag.
chris107: Yeah, 11 cool, just need 2 mins though.
Prince Skylio: "My nostrils long for the scent of her dripping cabbage"
Smon: "Her cabbage will be wilted by now. Unless she has planted it in fresh earth."
chris107: Mordred dies again
Smon: /roll d8
Smon rolls 1d8 and gets: 4,
Smon: GM: 17/3 The rainy season has passed early, and it's a fine sunny morn as you prepare to leave Selatine.
chris107: M breaths deep of the fresh air. Until it is spoiled by Zagaar's rancid odour.
Smon: Aya the Shepherdess comes to offer guidance. "The Stonehell lies in a box canyon in the cliffs, eight miles west of here. A ruined wall bars the eastern approach, it should be easy enough to find."
Smon: "Look out for the bear, Coal is his name. A fine beast, oft he has protected travellers and wanderers in those parts."
chris107: "Come my horrid friend, though the sheep of Selatine will grieve, we must be away."
chris107: "A bear, you say?£"
Smon: Aya's giant shephound has warded her sheep from Zagaar's tender ministrations.
Smon: Aya nods. "Yes, I have met him, more than once. Give him food and he's your friend for life!" she smiles.
Smon: "And he hates Goblins and evil things..." She looks doubtfully at Zagaar.
Prince Skylio: "that bear is not getting any of my food."
chris107: Thank you."
chris107:
Smon: "You may find wild goats in the region, deer and other game. It is too far from Selatine for our shepherds to graze, and too dangerous."
chris107: "Thank you Lady Aya"
Smon: "An occasional wolf, but the great Hyenas and Tigers of the hills are rarely seen on the Plain."
Prince Skylio: "Thank you Aya. Could you lend us a sheep to guide our path? The journey is long and full of perils."
chris107: (OOC found some great art on the web of Altani hunting tigres)
Smon: Aya nods. "I should get back to training the girls. Few enough of them are good with the stone... a sheep?"
Smon: Zagaar can make CHA check
Prince Skylio: "They are excellent navigators."
chris107: For the third time, Mordred curls up and dies
Prince Skylio rolls 1d20-2 and gets: 11, (-2) = 9
Smon: "I am sworn to protect the Lady's flock... I am sorry, I can spare none. Just go due west, skirting the south edge of the woods until you near the western cliffs. Pass through a mile or so of scrub forest and you will find it."
chris107: "Yes, stop bothering the lady's livestock and let's be about our business."
Prince Skylio: "Understandable. Alas gentleman, our quest for mutton chops is at a loss" Zagaar has forgotten the task at hand.
chris107: He bows an especially florid bow and bids Aya farewell.
chris107: "Oh! Follow me you dim brute!"
Smon: Aya curtsies gracefully, matching Mordred's bow.
chris107: OOC - stock up on rations etc first.
Prince Skylio: Zagaar follows while daydreaming of lamb koftas & tazkiki dip.
Smon: Aya: "Good luck! We may be gone when you get back - Lord Shieldbiter is calling the hosts to Cahli."
chris107: M releases Misha to scout ahead as usual.
chris107: "Good luck in the war!"
Smon: Aya nods gratefully. You head out of Selatine, past fields and sheep-grazed meadows.
chris107: "Best keep away from wars Zagaar, nasty business."
Smon: Many, many beautiful sheep.
Prince Skylio: Z's hand trembles upon the verminator as he notices Misha released in to the open air. Another feathery piece of rodent scum to one day be eliminated.
Smon: Such fine fluffy wool.
chris107:
chris107:
Smon: You head west across the Selatine plain - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0EAbVjvmw_RuuRQVbGfScdl0M27KDmwiDsD16ZERrn2t0Xv3EAzbgudORglrruVt8deaKSVMO92inxqjUdsMRynHwFXyvuBwzUJnp5VdeCWiEcsKJc5zDmYVUmLFB8FdJhHOWQmV02pM/s640/Selatine+Area.jpg
Smon: Nearly three hours of travel and it's close to noon when you see the western cliffs ahead.
Smon: Passing through scraggly scrub forest, you soon spot a gap in the cliffs...
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
chris107: Got you
Smon: Nothing menaces you as you approach along a game-track, and see ahead the ancient Nerathi wall spanning the east end of the box canyon from n to s.
Smon: Two great gaps appear in the wall towards n and s ends, while the central gatehouse seems largely intact.
chris107: Misha gracefully swoops around looking for trouble
Smon: Rabbits scatter in panic as Misha swoops by.
Smon: The hot noon sun beats down overhead.
Smon: Misha reports that beyond the ruined wall are the remains of ruined and overgrown buildings in the canyon.
Prince Skylio: Z drools over the fleeing rabbits "i'm too hungry to chase them"
chris107: OOC Can Misha catch a rabbit for our lunch?
Smon: At the far end of the canyon are several caves, a waterfall and a large central doorway.
Smon: make an attack roll for Misha
chris107 rolls 1d20 and gets: 16,
Smon: Misha returns proudly hauling a large juicy rabbit.
Smon: stop there?
chris107: "Thank you Misha. I'm sure Uncle Zagaar vwould like to say thank you for his lunch too?"
chris107: Yup, that's grand thanks Simon
Prince Skylio: Yeah thank you
chris107: Say thank you Misha, bitch!
Smon: OOC I decided Stonehell worked well near Selatine.
Smon: You can never have too many megadungeons eh.
Prince Skylio: "You're dessert" he glares at the owl and snatches the rabbit.
chris107: I have heard of it. Big rapan Athuk style dungeon?
Smon: yup
Smon: I have both books of it
chris107:
chris107: Soon get to levl 4 now!

14 = 14
26 = 26
8 = 8
14 = 14
Smon: Looks very nice, easy to run

chris107: He says whilst rubbing ointment into his flesh
Smon: Sandor +4, pass. The Harans cheer and follow Sandor & Laurana out the gate.
Smon: Lord Namelin & Rasgar mount up and follow with his retinue.
Smon: Dyson nods to Hakeem.

chris107:
Smon: As the dust clears you see piles of dead orcs around you.
chris107: "HAHAHAHA!"
Smon: Laurana wisely stayed on Dyson, who is off chasing orcs over the plain, breathing fire on them.
Smon: Nothing alive nearby.
chris107: How many Orcs look to have survived?
chris107: Hundreds or thousands?
Smon: The orcs wear crude steel hauberks stamped with the Ouroboros symbol of Zehir.
Smon: Namelin & the cavalry should catch them before nightfall, but doubtless some hundreds will survive to make it home.
Smon: Of the 3000 at daybreak.
chris107: But we have destroyed the bulk ofthe host of the Black Sun? Or at least converted tham?
Smon: Looks like.
Smon: About 600 heavy cavalry fled. 2000 infantry joined your side.
chris107: And without much loss to our armies?
Smon: no loss
chris107: YAAAHHOOOOOOOOOOOO!
sandor sunneson: nice
chris107: "Not in our wildest dreams could we have hoped for such a victory!"
chris107: "Bondorr is truely with us this day."
Smon: GM: You harry the enemy the rest of the day, but none stand against you.
chris107: Hakeem is in fine spirits.
Smon: When it gets too dark to continue the pursuit, Namelin's herald sounds the regroup.
sandor sunneson: Well done all, a big blow to the Black Sun, a KO punch Hakeem?
Smon: The three victorious & unbloodied armies and the surrendered Nerathi are assembled before the walls of Hara.
Smon: Except the lizardmen who are still off chasing tasty tasty orcs...
chris107: "We have driven them back, broken their strength and destroyed their champion. But we have not won. Who knows what Crowfinger has in reserve?"
Smon: Queen Laurana is speaking with some griffon-riding Amazons from Highhaven.
Smon: Laurana: "Aye. Brother... I must soon return to Highhaven. My people need me."
chris107: Has Ursa come with them?
chris107: or Ajax?
Smon: Did you summon them?
chris107: No,just wondered.
chris107: "You have duties now, your majesty. Are you taking Sandor with you?"
Smon: Dyson goes over to Shieldbiter. "I am sorry, friend. I did not mean to offend you."
DESTROYERBILL: no matter
Smon: Laurana looks over to Sandor. "If he wishes..."
Smon: Dyson: "Perhaps I could make it up to you? Some treasure?"
Smon: He says hopefully.
sandor sunneson: I am happy to join you, would be delighted too, but do we not have Crowfinger to get still?
sandor sunneson: There is a list of evil that needs to be nullified
DESTROYERBILL: how much
Smon: Namelin: "What are your plans now, Hakeem? Do we march west and finish this?"
Smon: Minars Rapak strides up, clad in wolf furs. "Aye! Let us pursue them!"
chris107: "We do. "
Smon: Dyson: "Oh, a quarter say?"
chris107: "But tonight, I need a rest."
sandor sunneson: Sandor will go over to Laurana and tell her that long term we will be together, but at the moment the war is not won
Smon: Laurana smiles sardonically at Sandor. "Of course."
chris107: He greets Minars Rapalwarmly. The blood of his enemies still wet upon him.
chris107: OOC - You dumping Lauranna?
Smon: Minars: "Must have been some fight, you and Kainos! We heard the ground shake ten miles off!"
chris107: "I assume you had a victory feast planned?" He asks Lord Bronze
Smon: Namelin: "Aye! Tonight we feast!"
Smon: OOC ok reckon stop there

chris107: "He was a mighty warrior, Dyson."
sandor sunneson: Laurana you coming?
chris107: He says whilst rubbing ointment into his flesh
Smon: Sandor +4, pass. The Harans cheer and follow Sandor & Laurana out the gate.
Smon: Lord Namelin & Rasgar mount up and follow with his retinue.
Smon: Dyson nods to Hakeem.
chris107: "I am not sorry. He had to die for Nerath and Altan to live in peace."
Smon: Looking up, Hakeem & Dyson see Shieldbiter flying towards them on his wyvern.

DESTROYERBILL: me v you two losers
DESTROYERBILL: for your army
Smon: "Come then, dog!" yells a Prince in shining armour.

Smon: You see the enemy infantry hurrying away, the faster cavalry outpacing them.
DESTROYERBILL: im a dragon not a dog idiot
chris107: "Good luck! Prince Shieldbiter!"

chris107: Hundreds or thousands?
Smon: The orcs wear crude steel hauberks stamped with the Ouroboros symbol of Zehir.
Smon: Namelin & the cavalry should catch them before nightfall, but doubtless some hundreds will survive to make it home.
Smon: Of the 3000 at daybreak.
chris107: But we have destroyed the bulk ofthe host of the Black Sun? Or at least converted tham?
Smon: Looks like.
Smon: About 600 heavy cavalry fled. 2000 infantry joined your side.

chris107: "We have driven them back, broken their strength and destroyed their champion. But we have not won. Who knows what Crowfinger has in reserve?"

Smon: Dyson: "Oh, a quarter say?"
chris107: "But tonight, I need a rest."

Chris CSIO game #2
XP
Ulysses 100
Brigar 100+90=190
Mouse 80+90=170
Fergus & Amalric PCs from session 1 90
We rejoin our intrepid heroes pushing onwards into an overground mausoleum within the Redoubt of the Dead. Forcing the door reveals the last dying rays of the evening sun falling upon the graveyard.
The arrival up the tunnel of Ulysses the Gishmesh priestess of Istar, freshly arrived a putt the Star of Tarantis with overheard news from the Silver Eel had them heading back to town.
While passing back through the hovel keen eyes found a chest containing a silver hand axe.
Here our friends split ways with Brigar and Ulysses off to confront and Murinae whilst the rest went to keep an eye out at the Eel.
Murinae was at home with her children. However they were not as they seemed and once challenged, transformed into horrible rats! The battle was not going well....
Meanwhile back at the Tavern, the door was to burst open and a breathless white scaled Dragon Born burst in. "Fight, Sword-Rat Rest House, HELP!"
Here we leave the scene until next time.
6:01pm 2017-9-19 Smon Has entered the room
6:01pm 2017-9-19 DESTROYERBILL Has entered the room
chris107: And noticed our heroes as they talked to a woman at a table at the Silver Eel earlier
AmalgamGames: Hello, Simon and Bill
chris107: Hi Simon, Bill
Smon: Hi all
DESTROYERBILL: hi
AmalgamGames: To clarify, am I an actual princess?

chris107: Though if you want to be a Princess too, that's fine by me

AmalgamGames: *I am now
chris107: Now it's going to be a short session as I have a very early start in the morning.

chris107: Last week Mouse, Brigar and a couple of others offered to help out a damsel in distress.
Smon: last sesh http://smons.blogspot.co.uk/2017/09/chris-csio-game-1.html
chris107: One Murinae by name the new owner of the Sword-Rat Resthouse
chris107: Right now you stand covered in gore in a small underground cave.
chris107: A headless Ghoul and the well nibbled corpses of the two Skandic ruffians you were searching for.
Smon: I'm pristine
Smon: Mouse: "I suggest Brigar and I escort this pouch of 114gp safely back to the Silver Eel while you two finish clearing the Redoubt. We'll save your share."
chris107: Along with the note, some coins and coffin breaking equipment. You found a small iron key around one of their necks.
Smon: I'll take key
chris107: The two elves give Mouse a hard stare.
AmalgamGames: (I assume I am with the party too?)
chris107: (AG - No you are still in the Silver Eel, I'll get youin at an appropriate point. Won't be long)
Smon: "Alternatively, 28gp each and 2 more for me as your fearless leader?"
AmalgamGames: (Okay. I just wanted to check.)
Smon: Mouse will reluctantly agree to a fair split - 28gp & 5 sp each.
chris107: The elves suggest you head back, search the hovel then go see what this Murinae has to say for her self.
Smon: "Of course she wants us to give her the money..."
Smon: "And she has corpse-eating "children"..."
Smon: "I suspect seeing her again might bode ill."
DESTROYERBILL: lets carry on
Smon: Mouse looks sceptically at Brigar, but nods. "Oh, very well."
Smon: I approach the far tunnel and shine my torch down it.
chris107: You press on to the East?
Smon: yes but carefully
chris107: AG, check your private messages
Smon: Brigar in front
AmalgamGames: (I did and sent one. Tell me if you don't get it.)
chris107: (Thanks, got it)
Smon: "If I get eaten by ghouls, Brigar, I shall blame you!"
chris107: @ Mouse and Brigar.
chris107: Your torches illuminate a narrow tunnel winding steadily upwards and eastwards
Smon: We will carefully proceed, axe mad barbarian in front, me behind.
chris107: Eventually you come to a flight of ancient steps, well worn heading upwards.
Smon: up we go
chris107: You enter a smallish stone room, several shrouded bodies lay on shelves around the edge. A heavy stone door is in the east wall.
DESTROYERBILL: i will cut the heads off all the bodies
Smon: I'll listen at the east door, perception 16
chris107: The Barbarian hacks the heads of several ancient corpses.
Smon: Any sign ghouls have been munching>
Smon: ?
chris107: Mouse listens at the door
chris107: No sign of munching here
chris107: All sounds quiet outside.
chris107: A heavy bar holds the door fast.
chris107: Roll a DC 10 perception roll, Mouse
chris107: (You get all that AG?)
Smon: /roll d20+6
Smon rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 1, (+6) = 7
Smon: LOL
chris107:
Smon: I'll search the corpses for loot.
Smon: Then check for secret doors & loose flagstones.
Smon: Did the other 2 go home?
chris107: No the two elves are just hanging around behind you
Smon: ok
chris107: You find a simple silver necklace on one of the corpses, nothing else.
Smon: I'll pocket it
Smon: "Reckon I'll buy a studded harness with my share, ladies love the studs..."
chris107:
Smon: I'll check door for traps then carefully raise the bar on the door & set it down before opening door.
chris107: You detect no traps, the bar is heavy. DC athletics check please.
Smon: /roll d20+3
Smon rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 14, (+3) = 17
chris107: Your muscles bunch as you lay the heavy bar upon the ground.
Smon: "We should get home soon, Djela the belly dancer will be missing me..."
chris107: Bill DC 5 Perception roll please
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 10, (+3) = 13
chris107: Brigar notices the flickering of torchlight coming up the steps you just entered by...
Smon: "Djela is always happy to see a man with a full pouch."
Smon: I push the door open.
DESTROYERBILL: i get ready
chris107: The door opens onto early evening sunshine.
DESTROYERBILL: thers someone coming
Smon: Larsenio smiles with relief at the daylight, then turns as Brigar calls out.
chris107: The huge barbarian sees a woman approaching up the steps with a torch... Enter Ulysses
Smon: I melt into the shadows, hands on sword hilts.
Smon: /roll d20+7
Smon rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 9, (+7) = 16
chris107: DC 15
Smon: 16 for my stealth so unseen
AmalgamGames: A young Arabic-looking woman in heavy armor goes up the stairs, weapon ready. After seeing who it is, she relaxes her stance and speaks in a vaguely Arabic accent, "Ah, it is only you. I have come to warn you."
Smon: (would normally be DC 16 as Ulysses WIS 18 I believe = 16 Passive per, still pass)
AmalgamGames: "The woman you talked to, I believe she has sent you here to die."
DESTROYERBILL: hello fair maden
Smon: A devilishly handsome fellow of moderate height emerges from the shadows to Ulysses' left.
DESTROYERBILL: maiden
Smon: He bows. "Welcome m'lady. I am Larsenio, known as Mouse."
Smon: "Do go on."
Smon: "Please explain her nefarious plan, who you are, and how you know this."
AmalgamGames: "I am pleased that you have confirmed my suspicions that you should be saved. I am Ulysses, priestess of Ishtar. Just after you left the Silver Eel, she told some ogres to await her command, and that you were not supposed to live. Am I correct that this involves undead?"
Smon: "You may have seen the ghoul yonder, slain by my comrades. And the two dead Skandiks."
Smon: "She said they worked for her and sent us here to claim money from them/
Smon: Mouse looks Ulysses up and down, liking what he sees. "You have some fine armour there, m'lady. A warrior priestess of Ishtar - from distant Tarantis?"
Smon: OOC did she say to meet her at Sword Rat Resthouse?
chris107: She said you could proberbly find her there. Yes.
AmalgamGames: "Thank you, sir. Yes, my homeland of Tarantis is far now, but I come in service of the Goddess of Love and War as a missionary. I detest little above undead, and would wish to accompany you to investigate her possible involvement with the creatures."
chris107: internets down again, am I still here?
AmalgamGames: (Yes.)
chris107: phew
chris107: thanks
Smon: "The ogres may be waiting for us now at the far end of the tunnel. Perhaps we should return to the city by a different path?"
AmalgamGames: (Also, I closed the tab we had our messages in. Am I forgetting anything she said?)
chris107: (It was overheard converation, what you remember is what you remember )
AmalgamGames: (Fair!)
AmalgamGames: "I have with me a spare change of clothes. If I change into them and cover myself in dirt, perhaps we could disguise ourselves as peasants?"
Smon: "If we hurry we should reach the Gate of the Gods before it closes for the night. Or we can risk the tunnel again."
AmalgamGames: "We could go back the way we came through the hovel district."
Smon: "Yes... I'll bring up the rear."
chris107: Mouse knows his way back to the Gate of the Gods from here.
chris107: or you could return through the hovel
Smon: OOC We are east of the city having come through an under-river tunnel to the cemetery AG. I'm worried she might be watching the tunnel exit near her hotel.
chris107: The last rays of the evening sun are fading outside the mausoleum..
Smon: Brigar is telling me to go back down the tunnel.
Smon: We'll go that way, Brigar in front.
AmalgamGames: "If there are ogres ahead, at least we will not be surprised."
chris107: Okay, you make it back through the tunnel without incident.
Smon: Once we get back into the hovel, if not attacked, I'll scout ahead sneaking.
AmalgamGames: We are going back through the hovels, then?
Smon: yes
AmalgamGames: I will remain in my armor.
chris107: Into the shabby hovel, the sparse furniture, unmade beds and spoiled food complete the picture
Smon: I sneak over to the exit door to the street & listen.
Smon: for ogres.
chris107 rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
Smon: OOC 2 ogres vs 3-5 of us we'd be squashed.
chris107: All is quiet in the narrow allyway outside.
chris107: DC18 perception check for each of you please
Smon: OK, I'll give the hovel interior a quick check for loot before we leave.
AmalgamGames rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 10, (+6) = 16
Smon: /roll d20+6
Smon rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 19, (+6) = 25
Smon:
chris107: (I will not be using balanced encounters and CR )
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 19, (+3) = 22
Smon: Ears of the Tiger!
chris107: Perhaps it is the key that inspires you but as you creep towards or listen at the door, two of you notice a small chest camoflaged under piles of rubbish.
Smon: I'll try the key in the lock.
chris107: It fits and turns easily
Smon: Nodding quietly to keen-eyed Brigar.
AmalgamGames: I keep watch while my newfound companions look in the chest.
chris107: Inside, practicaly filling the chest and wrapped in soft leather is a hand axe of strange design. OOC bear with me I have a picture.
Smon: I lift out the leather-wrapped axe, unfurling the strips to examine my find.
chris107: https://imgur.com/nGNvyPR
chris107: Hope that works?
AmalgamGames: WOrks.
Smon: "Nice."
chris107: The metal of the head is some kind of hardened silver.
Smon: I'll check the bottom of the chest for hidden compartment too.
chris107: After much searching you are pretty sure that there arenone.
Smon: I will use the axe, it's simple & light so I can use it ok
Smon: actually it's not finesse so I can't use it well.
DESTROYERBILL: you can do this
Smon: Guess I stick to shortswords.
Smon: I'll try to appraise its value.
Smon: Then stick it in belt (head up) & open the door to street.
chris107: DC 15 appraise check (int)
Smon: /roll d20+2
Smon rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 10, (+2) = 12
chris107: The filthy ally is quiet, it's almost fully dark now.
Smon: "Back to Silver Eel, boys & girl?"
AmalgamGames: "Yes. Lead the way."
DESTROYERBILL: ok
Smon: "I don't suppose we should bother the Constables with news of the dead brothers and the ghoul. They're very busy. OK, this way..."
Smon: I lead them back to the Eel steering clear of the Sword Rat.
chris107: You trudge through the fetid mess of the city's back allys. Finaly returning onto the dimlylit Stret of Shadows.
chris107: Smokey torches seem to make the shadows around them seem even darker.
chris107: There are quite a number of people around now that night is falling. All of them looking furtive, dirty and mean.
chris107 rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
DESTROYERBILL: ill go confront murienne
chris107: But streetwise Mouse gets you to the rowdy tavern with no trouble.
Smon: I nod to my fellow furtive dirty & mean street rats.
chris107: Murinae is not at the tavern.
Smon: "You off, Brigar?"
chris107: But the bulky form of the two ogres can be seen through the crowds.
DESTROYERBILL: yes
AmalgamGames: When we arrive, I suggest that I go in first to see if the ogres or the woman are here.
DESTROYERBILL: okay go ahead
AmalgamGames: (Sorry, didn't see that thing about the ogres first.)
Smon: "Okay Brigar, I'll keep an eye on the ogres and come warn you if they leave."
chris107: (No probs, is Brigar heading off to the Sword-Rat Resthouse?
DESTROYERBILL: okay
Smon: yup
DESTROYERBILL: yes
chris107: Okay. I'll deal with Bill first.
Smon: I'll get a drink and settle down to watch the ogres from a quiet alcove.
Smon: "Good luck Brigar."
AmalgamGames: I offer to accompany Bill.
AmalgamGames: *Brigar
chris107: The low born scum of the city part as the mighty barbarian heads up the Street ofShadows towards the resthouse.
AmalgamGames: (Your switching names is confusing me!)
DESTROYERBILL: you can come
AmalgamGames: "Thank you, barbarian. I will watch your back."
chris107: Ulysses follows on in his wake.
Smon: "Crazy fools, that's the last I'll see of those two... hmm, this small beer is extra watery tonight."
Smon: I look to see if Djela is performing with her panther & if I can tempt any serving wenches to my lap with a shiny gold coin.
chris107: It is only a short walk and you stand before the closed door and shadowed, shuttered windows of the Sword Rat. A shabby sign is all that proclaims its use to the world
Smon: "Not Bragga the Robust though, her on my lap, she'd squash me..."
chris107: @ Simon, Djela is just about to start her evening 'set'. Coingirls flock to you at the sight of gold
chris107: @ AG & Bill... All is quiet.
Smon: "Hey, ladies, plenty of Mouse for everyone!"
DESTROYERBILL: good
AmalgamGames: I suggest to Brigar that we go inside.
DESTROYERBILL: lets do that
Smon: Largely concealed beneath a pair of buxom tavern girls, Mouse continues to keep an eye on the ogre duo.
chris107: The door is stiff, DC 10 Athletics check to open it first time.
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 19, (+5) = 24
chris107:
AmalgamGames: (Ah yes, Mouse is concealing his presence. Smart.)
Smon: INT 10 baby.
chris107: The door flies open, hanging of it's hinges as the mighty Barbarian flexes his muscles!
chris107: Inside is a dimly lit main room 15' N-S / 25' E-W
AmalgamGames: I try to close the door back once we're inside. Is the door broken?
chris107: There are several single cots spread around the outsides and a small staircase leads off from the south wall.
AmalgamGames: (Is it illegal to cast harmless magic here?)
chris107: The cots are all empty but stood around a small fire place are three small wragged children, two boys and a girl. Murinae is playing catch with them.
chris107: (You are a stranger in town and do not know their customs.)
chris107: Ulysses steps within and tries to mend the door?
chris107: What is Brigar doing?
AmalgamGames: Yes, Mending it was the idea. Without knowing otherwise, I will cast Mending.
chris107: Murinae looks up, startled. Her children glare at you.
DESTROYERBILL: im asking her what is this all about
chris107: Okay, the beautiful Gishmesh slips within the house and with a wave of her hand and a slight shimmer as if starlight had fallen upon it, the door is mended.
chris107: Burly Brigar makes his demands.
chris107: Murinae huddles her children around her and looks at you answering
chris107: "Why sir, what do you mean? You know what I asked of you? Have you found those two ruffians?"
DESTROYERBILL: yeah and a lot of ghouuls
chris107: Her children start to weep, pitiously
chris107: "Ghouls?!" She seems genuinly shocked.
DESTROYERBILL: and why the hell are ther ogers outside
AmalgamGames: I approach her children and try to calm them down.
chris107: "Ogres outside? Where?!"
chris107: She pushes her children behind her. They cling to momma's legs, peeking out at Ulysses with cold black eyes.
chris107: Initiative please.
chris107: Murinae
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 17, (+3) = 20
AmalgamGames rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 20, (+3) = 23
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 13, (+2) = 15
DESTROYERBILL: rage
chris107: Children
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 4, (+2) = 6
DESTROYERBILL: ha ha ha
AmalgamGames: That should be a 22, sorry.
chris107: Okay, I'll explain what you see then you can give me your actions in initiative order.
AmalgamGames: I got my Dex and Str mixed.
chris107: As you watch, horrified. You see the features of both mother and children warp and change. Whiskers sprout, noses elongate into snouts, their legs twis and become rodent like, they are changing!
chris107: Bill on you.
DESTROYERBILL: i rage
Smon: LOL
Smon: Knew you guys should've asked to borrow my axe.
DESTROYERBILL: idont rage
chris107: Rae is your bonus action Bill
DESTROYERBILL: okay
chris107: If you choose to stop raging, that will be one rage down for the day?
Smon: He used 1 rage before
DESTROYERBILL: ill take the rage
DESTROYERBILL: i attak
chris107: Cool, Brigar rages! Roll your attack.
chris107: AC12
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 2, (+5) = 7
chris107: The Barbarians great axe swings wide.
Smon: Mouse's hand falls from the shapely rump of Rinna the Well-Rounded to the hilt of the silver hand axe. He has an odd feeling, like it's calling to him. "Naw, probably nothing."
chris107: AG, your turn.
AmalgamGames: Can I speak and still ready an action?
chris107: yup
Smon: "Wonder why two ruffians had a silvered weapon concealed in their room. What could they have been needing it for... Hey there! More ale!"
chris107: @ Simon, ale is flowing and the shapely Altani is dancing up a storm. From what he can see the two Ogres are enjoying the show too.
AmalgamGames: Okay then, I ready an action to attack if one of the things comes within melee range, but I first try to appeal to them, "Please, I think this is a misunderstanding! Can we not talk this over before shedding needless blood?"
Smon: "I'm guessing Murinae's a vampire. She's likely sucking on that Ulysses lass right now..."
chris107: The Princesses words seem to fall upon only (now) mostly ratty ears!
Smon: "Best live and let live, that's what I always say, eh Rinna my love?"
chris107: @ AG - you use a ready action to strike if they come within range?
AmalgamGames: Yes, Chris.
chris107: The ratty transformation continues.
chris107: Thanks
chris107: A horrible sight.
AmalgamGames: If that happens, I would like to use my bonus action to make a second attack on the creature.
chris107: The children have soon assumed the shape of huge ravenous rats. But that is as nothing compared to the mother.
chris107: (Ishter realm is war then? Cool)
Smon: "Amazing how that panther can pluck garments from Djela's body without grazing her skin... "
chris107: Murinaes form seems to swell and expand, growing and wriggling until she is nothing but a tower of squealing vermin!
Smon: :-O
DESTROYERBILL: seriusly
chris107: The column of rats suddenly bursts assunder and they engulf even the huge form of Brigar!
AmalgamGames: ...I'm going to need that bonus attack.
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1, (+2) = 3
Smon: (only way you'd get a bonus attack is if you had 2 light weapons & it's your own turn)
DESTROYERBILL: bad or good
DESTROYERBILL: ?
chris107: But he fends them off, throwing rats hither and zither as they crawl over him.
chris107: The rat swarm attacked Brigar, Bill.
chris107: and missed
DESTROYERBILL: i kno
DESTROYERBILL: w
Smon: (or you were using a spell like spiritual weapon)
AmalgamGames: (No, the passage didn't say anything about light weapons I don't think. And if it's a readied attack, doesn't that count as being my turn?)
Smon: no
chris107: So good for you, bad for her.
DESTROYERBILL: ok
AmalgamGames: (Oh. I see.)
Smon: PHB pg 195 Two Weapon Fighting
AmalgamGames: (It isn't two-weapon fighting, it's an extra attack from my class feature.)
AmalgamGames: (I use a bonus action Wis mod times per day to gain an extra attack.)
chris107: DM - I am assuming that Ulysees is a cleric of a war domain god. She held her attack action until something was in range. She can therefore make a bonus attack ,
AmalgamGames: (TY, Chris for your generous judgement.)
Smon: Oh I see, yes you get 4 bonus attacks per long rest.
AmalgamGames: (And yes, it is the War domain because Ishtar is a war goddess.)
Smon: Still only on your own turn though, Ready & Attack are different
Smon: Anyway it's about to be your go
chris107: Please see your PM Simon.
Smon: haven't received PM in chat
chris107: I sent one, will send again now.
chris107 sent you a private message. If it did not open automatically, check for blocked popups and/or [Click Here]

chris107: She stuns one as it leaps at her pretty throat, as it falls to the ground she smashes it to splinters of bone and fur.
chris107: The other two nip around her ancles.
chris107 Rolls 1d20+4x2 and gets:

chris107: AC12
Smon:
DESTROYERBILL: sigh
chris107: Once more the disconcerted Brigar's mighty swings fail to hit the swarming mass of rats.
AmalgamGames: (Just pretend the rats are doors!)
chris107:
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 14, (+2) = 16
chris107: Brigar is AC 16?
chris107: That's what I have on record so I'll assume that's a hit.
chris107 rolls 2d6 and gets: 3, 4, = 7
chris107: Halved for rage = 3
chris107: The tiny sharp fangs of the rats find their way into all sorts of unpleasent places as they swarm around the barbarian.
chris107: Ulysses turn.
Smon: Brigar 12/15
AmalgamGames: I again use my double attacks on one of the rats.
AmalgamGames rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 1, (+5) = 6
AmalgamGames rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 1, (+5) = 6
7:56pm 2017-9-19 Smon Has exited the room
AmalgamGames: Nooooo!
chris107: Slipping on the squished sibling you flail wildly.
chris107: Now the children have your measure and use their pack tactics to better hit.
AmalgamGames: Correction: I mace wildly
chris107: (advantage)

AmalgamGames rolls 1d8+3 and gets: 8, (+3) = 11
chris107: Hit!
chris107: With a mighty blow a second rat is splatted!
AmalgamGames: "You still have one baby left! Surrender now and it can live."
chris107: No pack tactics left for the remainder.
chris107: @ Simon. There is a terible commotion at the door of the Silver Eel. A white skinned Dragon born is shouting and gesturing wildly to be heard over the dancing.
chris107: Back to last child v Ulysees
chris107 rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 9, (+4) = 13
chris107: It misses.

chris107: And there my friends we will leave it for tonight. Thanks for playing
chris107: Could you save and log it again please Simon?
Smon: Mouse sighs, pitchs the coin girls off him, and dashes for the Sword-Rat.
Smon: ok will log
AmalgamGames: To clarify, am I an actual princess?
chris107: Kyle has decided to skip this session as he part wrote it. I'll intoduce his character as an NPC along the way.
AmalgamGames: Who is Kyle? Your guy?
chris107: oorps, Priestess!
chris107: Though if you want to be a Princess too, that's fine by me
chris107: yup
AmalgamGames: Haha!
AmalgamGames: I am not Princess Ulysses Graham, priestess of Ishtar Anyway, did I hear what they said at the Silver Eel?
AmalgamGames: *I am now
chris107: Now it's going to be a short session as I have a very early start in the morning.
DESTROYERBILL: ok
AmalgamGames: Okay.
6:05pm 2017-9-19 chris107 Has exited the room
AmalgamGames: Wow, real short session.
DESTROYERBILL: ha
6:06pm 2017-9-19 chris107 Has entered the room
DESTROYERBILL: hello
chris107: So if Bill and Simon are ready we can recap and make a start, then
chris107: anm I here?
AmalgamGames: Yes.
chris107: Netflix, interweb, everything just died.
AmalgamGames:
chris107: But looks like it's back in business
chris107: Okay, we begin.
Smon: i'm good
Smon: we're just eating dinner & typing
chris107: Last week Mouse, Brigar and a couple of others offered to help out a damsel in distress.

DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 5, (+5) = 10
chris107: AC12
AmalgamGames: Correction: I mace wildly
chris107: (advantage)
chris107: Rat 1
chris107 Rolls 1d20+4x2 and gets:

chris107 Rolls 1d20+4x2 and gets:

chris107: AC12
AmalgamGames rolls 1d8+3 and gets: 8, (+3) = 11
chris107: Hit!
chris107: With a mighty blow a second rat is splatted!
AmalgamGames: "You still have one baby left! Surrender now and it can live."
chris107: No pack tactics left for the remainder.
chris107: @ Simon. There is a terible commotion at the door of the Silver Eel. A white skinned Dragon born is shouting and gesturing wildly to be heard over the dancing.
chris107: Back to last child v Ulysees
chris107 rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 9, (+4) = 13
chris107: It misses.
chris107: @ Simon. He makes out the words TROUBLE - SWORD-RAT and HELP!
chris107: And there my friends we will leave it for tonight. Thanks for playing
chris107: Could you save and log it again please Simon?
Smon: Mouse sighs, pitchs the coin girls off him, and dashes for the Sword-Rat.
Smon: ok will log
