Session 24 15/1/46 The Traitors Revealed

Glevina

Thadeus
2 traps negated
wolverine-rat room found & creature killed
Rey charms Glevina the Elf with a nat 20 CHA check
Glevina reveals Ulfic, Jeremiah and the guards are cultists, fireballs them.
Elves Glevina & Thadeus are persuaded to accompany Bjornalf, Hakeem and co to the lower levels in search of a way out of 'this part of the megadungeon' and (presumably) back to their own homeworld.

Captured cultist recited:
"Mr President, this is Sky Marshall Lamal. Warforged Assault Team Alpha report they now have full control of the Markab Battlestation ANU. All active Bioforms eliminated. They believe nothing encountered was a true Markab Entity. They have activated the Cyst Launchers, and programmed them to target every major city of the Dragon Empire.
Operation Starfall is ready to initiate on the next orbit, sir.
On your command."

5:58pm  2015-5-17 Smon Has entered the room
5:59pm  2015-5-17 Kjato Ragfoot Has entered the room
Smon: Hi K
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello Smon
6:03pm  2015-5-17 Amalric Has entered the room
Smon: Hi G!
Amalric: hey Simon
Amalric: Kjato!
Kjato Ragfoot: Hallo Amalrich
Smon: Guess I'll start, Boredom seems afk
Smon: The gate opens and you ride out to do battle...
Smon: You ride south through the pouring rain along the track that leads out of Clear Meadows towards the southern farms, the horses' hooves sinking deeply in the red Altanian mud.
Smon: Sodden reddish-tan cows graze, watching you sullenly as you ride past.
Smon: Soon you reach the edge of the farmland and enter the woods, the way becoming rougher as the land rises up into the Ghinarian Hills.
Smon: I'll say PCs present are at the head of the column with Fr. Ulfic and Captain Jeremiah, the others towards the rear, possibly still nursing hangovers...
Kjato Ragfoot: Fine with me.
Smon: After an hour or so in the rough and muddy terrain, following your directions the column draws near to the Caves of the Cultists...
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 11,
Amalric: good start
Smon: It takes a little while to locate the overgrown cave entrance, and it is a little before noon when you finally do so.
Smon: Captain Jeremiah nods in satisfaction. "There, eh? Very good, we'll leave two men here to guard the horses, the rest of you with me."
Smon: Jeremiah dismounts, a trooper taking his reins, and unsheathes a functional looking greatsword, brandishing it.
Amalric: "Better follow me, unless you want to lose most of your men to traps."
Smon: Ulfic also dismounts, hefting his mace gingerly, as do the soldiers.
Amalric: (this the same route as before?)
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will follow, but needs a short moment to find his map.
Kjato Ragfoot: Found it.
Smon: (same cave entrance) Jeremiah nods to Rey, hefting his sword. "An excellent notion milord. Do lead on."
Smon: Inside the cave, Rey leads the way past the pit traps, followed by Jeremiah, Bjornalf, Ulfic and the others.
Amalric: (Rey will tell Bjornalf quietly to watch Ulfic, and Jeremiah for that matter)
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will gladly do so.
Smon: Behind Bjornalf is Ulfic, and directly behind Ulfic is the big guardsman Garson, still nursing a cut lip and glowering.
Smon: Passing a couple side caves - in the right hand one of which is the remains of a dead fibrous plant-thing - you reach the Y junction where yesterday Demonslayer destroyed an evil ring.
Kjato Ragfoot: From here, we can go south and southwest?
Smon: A large stalagmite grows here (it was here yesterday).
Smon: Yes, more sw or se.
Smon: Last time you went se, found the crypt of Clevenus, and beyond that caves with a sparkly red/blue light you didn't get to explore before attacks from jelly & troll forced you back.
Smon: You have not gone sw at all.
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. That is what my map says as well.
Amalric: which way? any preference?
Smon: Behind Bjornalf, Ulfic raises a lit lantern.
Kjato Ragfoot: SW.
Smon: Jeremiah: "Gentlemen? Which way to the Cultists?"
Smon: Jeremiah nods.
Smon: The tunnel here is wide enough for two to walk abreast, but Jeremiah stays a bit back from Rey.
Kjato Ragfoot: We do not know. We chased the cultists to this cave, but the traps slowed us and we lost them at this point.
Smon: 20' down the sw tunnel it looks to widen ahead.
Amalric: "Plenty room for two up here, Captain."
Kjato Ragfoot: The one we interrogated told us to descend one level and there would be some kind of ritual necessary.
Smon: Jeremiah nods and steps forward, slight perspiration on his brow. "Certainly milord."
Smon: Are you going SW, checking for traps?
Amalric: yes
Kjato Ragfoot: (Bjornalf votes for SW)
Smon: /roll d20+7
Smon rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 1515, (+7) = 22
Smon: Where the tunnel opens out ahead, Rey spots the faint outline of a pressure plate across the floor, and the telltale gap for a portcullis in the ceiling above.
Amalric: have to disarm that, or try to - from this side
Smon: Rey gets down to investigate. He might be able to wedge the plate with his Thieves' tools - you want to try?
Smon: You get +10 on roll.
Amalric rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 1212, (+10) = 22
Smon: Rey wedges the plate with a sliver of metal so that it's jammed and can't descend - hopefully.
Amalric: "Wouldn't want that dropping behind us, or on our heads! Eh Captain?!"
Smon: "Indeed!"
Smon: "Take care here, men! Watch your step!"
Smon: Past a wider area where the south side of the tunnel opens out to a cave ca 25' across, the tunnel narrows again to 10'-15'.
Smon: It looks as if there may be a + intersection ahead.
Smon: /roll d20+7
Smon rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 1717, (+7) = 24
Smon: heh
Smon: 20' before the intersection, Rey spots the outline of a secret door on the right/nw tunnel wall - on fire today!
Smon: action?
Kjato Ragfoot: A burning secret door?
Amalric: he opens it
Smon: No, I meant Rey was doing well on the search checks.
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah. OK.
Smon: Rey finds the catch and the door slides open into a fetid chamber.
Smon: In the light from Ulfic's torch behind you both, something moves in the darkness...
Smon: The rough-hewn chamber is about 20' across n-s, 15' e-w.
Amalric: "Bring a torch up, Captain"
Amalric: Rey lifts his magic dagger to see better
Smon: You can see gleaming chunks of quartz, a scroll tube, a tattered cloak, broken ceramic plates bowls & cups, and faeces...
6:39pm  2015-5-17 Eliana Has entered the room
Kjato Ragfoot: (I did not truly understand where this chamber is?)
*Eliana hides*
Smon: Something big, furry and angry snarls and bounds towards Rey...
Smon: it's on the right hand side of the passage.
Smon: have to go for dinner now, be ca 25 mins
Smon: see if B turns up
Smon: cya in a bit
Amalric: okay
6:54pm  2015-5-17 Eliana Has exited the room
Smon: back
Smon: The creature has big shovel like claws, a rat snout...
Smon: It leaps at Rey...
Smon: init, PCs first...
Smon: /roll 1d20x2
Smon Rolls 1d20x2 and gets:
19 = 19
1 = 1
Smon: You win
Amalric: oh back
Amalric rolls 2d20 and gets: 99, 1212, = 21
Amalric: rapier, dagger
Smon: Rey stabs it with both blades, it leaps onto them...
Smon: No sneak attack
Amalric rolls 1d8+4 and gets: 44, (+4) = 8
Amalric rolls 1d4+1 and gets: 11, (+1) = 2
Smon: Wounded but still up, it rakes at him...
Smon: /roll d20+4x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+4x2 and gets:
17 (+4) = 21
17 (+4) = 21
Amalric: oh nice
Smon: rake rake
Smon: /roll 2d4+4
Smon rolls 2d4+4 and gets: 33, 33, (+4) = 10
Smon: 10 dmg
Smon: Your go, you are currently in the doorway, you could retreat or try to finish it.
Smon: Jeremiah & Bjornalf & Ulfic are in the corridor behind Rey
Amalric: finish it
Amalric rolls 2d20 and gets: 1616, 1313, = 29
Smon: 2 hits
Amalric rolls 1d8+4 and gets: 11, (+4) = 5
Amalric rolls 1d4+1 and gets: 22, (+1) = 3
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will let anyone pass who wants to fight the monster.
Smon: The final dagger blow finishes it (just), it sinks to the ground & stops moving.
Amalric: Rey moves to collect the cloak and scroll, and see what else might lie here by the light of blade
Amalric: "Stay ready out there, I'll be out in a minute."
Smon: Pulling out the shining dagger, Rey can see the ragged cloak of deep garnet tone on the chamber floor, lined with gold embroidery - a sorcerer's cloak, perhaps?
Smon: The 3 large chunks of quartz on it must be worth a fair penny, and there is an ivory scroll tube.
Amalric: can he try it on? or does he think it is a sorcerer's cloak?
Smon: yes
Amalric: he'll put the other things in his pack
Amalric: yes to the first question? the second? both??
Smon: Rey picks it up - it's pretty filthy, but could be cleaned and repaired.
Smon: yes both
Amalric: he'll try it on quickly
Smon: Bjornalf - the scroll tube radiates magic, the robe Rey is now putting on does not.
Smon: Jeremiah purses his lips. "Very fetching."
Amalric: "Careful what you ask for, Captain." says Rey with a wink
Amalric: Rey hands scroll and cloak to Bjornalf
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf rolls his eyes.
Smon: LOL
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 11,
Smon: Apparently when the Guards are with you the monsters don't come out to play...
Kjato Ragfoot: Eh? Oh well. I will stow it.
Smon: The big lumps of quartz look to be worth 50gp each.
Amalric: cowardly monsters!
Amalric: any secret doors in this room?
Smon: /roll d20+7
Smon rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 99, (+7) = 16
Smon: You are pretty sure there aren't.
Kjato Ragfoot: There are four other ways to take, we can do without secret doors for now.
Smon: Jeremiah: "Let's be on." Ulfic: "My son, do you require healing?"
Amalric: "Lets move on. And please, Father."
Smon: Ahead to the sw is an intersection.
Smon: Ulfic touches a hand to Rey's raked arm.
Amalric: (save vs poison? :))
Smon: /roll d8+3
Smon rolls 1d8+3 and gets: 77, (+3) = 10
Kjato Ragfoot: (I do not think the priest is poisonous)
Smon: Rey's wound vanishes.
Amalric: (I need to make a hit point roll, but bit wary now Simon just rolled a 7!)
Smon: Ulfic: "The Lord blesses..."
Smon: Oh yeah, roll a d8 or take 5.
Amalric rolls 1d8+2 and gets: 77, (+2) = 9
Smon:
Smon: cool
Amalric:
Amalric: 8-8-8-7-4-7, awesome!
Smon: brb
Amalric: "My thanks, Father. The Lord lies strong with you."
Kjato Ragfoot: (Rey the Invincible)
Smon: Ulfic nods. "Don't mention it."
Amalric: (evil priests can still cast Cure Light, for now I'll give him the benefit)
Smon: Further down the tunnel you approach the intersection. Ahead the main tunnel bends left/south out of sight.
Smon: To the left is a smallish cave about 20' deep, empty but for sinister sigils scrawled over the walls in a disturbing white script.
Amalric: "I don't wish to go in there..."
Smon: To the right is a cave filled with stalagmites & stalagtites, flowstone shelfs rising up towards the back wall out of sight in the darkness.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 1616,
Kjato Ragfoot: (Further than 120 feet?)
Smon: In your light you spot red eyes... Bjornalf's darkvision picks up the forms of 2 Kobolds lurking on the first elevation.
Kjato Ragfoot: Psst. I think I hear someone creeping within that room.
Smon: The cave is about 50' deep, most of the back is too high to see from the entrance.
Amalric: "Ambush site, bloody little mites."
Amalric: "Lets avoid that, too. We came for the cultists."
Smon: Jeremiah: "What do you see?"
Smon: Ulfic: "Eyes in the darkness... Minions of Evil, no doubt!"
Smon: Jeremiah: "Avoid them? Should we not slay them in righteous combat?"
Amalric: "Kobolds. Doubtless they have the entire cave covered, could be a deathtrap in there."
Amalric: "But lead on, by all means, Captain."
Smon: Jeremiah: "Hmm, see what you mean... Very good. Let's leave them be."
Smon: Jeremiah: "Onward! You two men at the back, watch that cave mouth!"
Smon: Ahead the tunnel turns south, then opens out into a huge chamber of worked stone, reeking of death. A great table runs n-s most of the length of this banqueting hall, three human corpses slumped over it.
Smon: brb gonna get cake.
Amalric: fatso
Smon: The bodies look quite fresh. There are two doors, in the far (s) and right (w) walls.
Smon: It's Gnu chocolate tart.
Amalric: (fair enough then!)
Amalric: "Father, may need you here, those bodies could be undead."
Kjato Ragfoot: Or, worse, they could be aquaintances.
Amalric: (wait for the DM to wipe cake crumbs off his keyboard  )
Smon: Ulfic looks at the bodies & nods, clutching his holy symbol.
Smon: (I have PC at table but adventure book upstairs... cover is nsf table :D)
Amalric: ha!
Smon: BTW I spoke w the author today...
Amalric: onwards then
Amalric: really? get you
Amalric: did you point out the flaws in his module?
Smon: Was complaining about printing defect on another book - he sent me a free pdf.
Amalric: oh nice!
Smon: I believe he's aware of the issues w module...
Smon: Also I asked for a jpg of the last pic in the book so I could show you it if you ever get that far.
Amalric: you mean, "when"?
Smon: Sure
Smon: I think you'd like that last pic Graham
Amalric: LOL i look forward to it!
Smon: Rey would like the peripheral figures, might not like the central character so much...
7:40pm  2015-5-17 Smon Has exited the room
Amalric: Bjornalf can handle that
7:40pm  2015-5-17 Smon Has entered the room
Kjato Ragfoot: (I have a scroll of fireball. Nothing can stop me.)
Smon: LOL
Smon: ok, back upstairs...
Smon: /roll d20+7
Smon rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 1414, (+7) = 21
Smon: Rey spots the pressure pad across the entrance to the chamber...
Smon: A hole in the right-hand wall - spear or dart trap?
Amalric: probably
Amalric: jam it with something
Smon: Jeremiah, moving forward, is about to step on it.
Amalric: "Stop captain!!"
Smon: He stops, his foot about to step on the plate, and takes a hurried step back.
Smon: Rey bends down and gets to work again...
Smon: /roll d20+10
Smon rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 1313, (+10) = 23
Smon: He jams the plate.
Smon: OOC w/o a Rogue you'd have been taking a lot of damage today
Kjato Ragfoot: This place is a deathtrap out to get you.
Amalric: (should leave them to it, pick up the spoils all for myself  )
Smon: Stepping over the plate, you can enter the banquet hall.
Kjato Ragfoot: (Well, we have Rey around to seduce the evil sorceresses, disarming trap is just an additional boon)
Smon: It's maybe 90' n-s and 50' e-w, truly huge.
Smon: There is a door 20' n from the s end of the west wall.
Smon: And a second door 20' from the e end of the s wall.
Smon: The central table is 30' long, huge but dwarfed by the room's proportions, surrounded by many solid oak chairs.
Amalric: (LOL good point Kjato!)
Amalric: W or E door?
Smon: Of the three corpses slumped in their chairs over the table, all seem male, less than a week dead. One wears fine clothing, with a silk magenta neckerchief.
Kjato Ragfoot: To Captain Jeremiah: Do you know any of the desceased?
Smon: The second is dressed shabbily, while the third wears the purple green and gold costume of a court jester, the ink of a spider tattoo upon his neck.
Smon: His jester hat has bells on.
Amalric: lucky him
Smon: Plates, bowls and cups decorate the table, some broken.
Smon: The floor is of paved stone.
Amalric: "Still look like undead. Father?"
Amalric: "Captain, better have your men watch those doors."
Smon: Jeremiah: "I don't recognise them..." he gestures for four of his men to guard the doors.
Smon: Ulfic: "They seem dead..." he eyes the bodies warily. They don't move.
Amalric: Rey moves into the room
Smon: The 4 guards take up position, 2 flanking each door, the other 4 towards the n wall and 2 still watching the kobold cave.
Smon: Your fellow adventurers also enter the room.
Smon: Rey reaches the banquet table w/out incident/
Smon: The first corpse has well-cobbled shoes, good heels...
Smon: There's a bulge in his pocket - and a bigger bulge in the jester's pocket. What looks like grey feathers poking out.
Smon: The shabby-dressed corpse has a small leather belt pouch.
Smon: /roll d20+7
Smon rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 99, (+7) = 16
Smon: All seems quiet.
Kjato Ragfoot: Any magic on the three?
Smon: They don't radiate magic.
Amalric: Rey checks them for traps, jester first
Smon: The jester seems untrapped. He has a belled hat and a dead dove in his pocket, its neck broken.
Amalric: "Captain, can you hack these bodies ti pieces, or have your men do it?"
Smon: Ulfic: "These fellows look Nerathi/Alryan I'd say... from the north? That costume is not Ghinarian."
Smon: Jeremiah gives Rey an odd look: "Eh? They seem quite dead."
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 22,
Amalric: "For now. I am worried they will animate at some point, so we had better take precautions."
Amalric: "We can always bury or burn them properly later."
Smon: The shabby fellow is also untrapped, his pouch holds 14 cloudy grey marbles.
Smon: Jeremiah: "Torm, Garson, Tarl - remove the heads of these fellows, please."
Amalric: take off the jester's hat, have Bjornalf examine the marbles
Amalric: "Don't forget the arms and legs."
Smon: Three guards raise their swords and move to comply. Garson glares at Rey. "Shit, we'll be here all day!"
Smon: Ulfic: "Anyone have a meat cleaver?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will take the marbles, search for a small hole in the ground and stars playing a game of marbles.
Smon: /roll d20+2
Smon rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1313, (+2) = 15
Amalric: "Better here doing useful work than having your ugly mug smashed in, Garson."
Smon: Bjornalf gets down on the ground and starts playing marbles on the flagstones... from his seated position he can now see the outline of the hidden trapdoor, hidden under the banquet table.
Smon: (nice one)
Smon: /roll d20+5
Smon rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 33, (+5) = 8
Kjato Ragfoot: "Those are marbles of trap door finding. Take a look under the table."
Amalric: LOL
Smon: Rey fails his Intimidate roll... As Rey turns to see what Bjornalf has found, Garson snarls and lunges at him, fist swinging...
Kjato Ragfoot: Can I roll the marbles under Garsons feet so that he stumbles?
Smon: /roll d20+5x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+5x2 and gets:
5 (+5) = 10
11 (+5) = 16
Smon: one hit - his second blow connects with Rey's sternum, 4 dmg
Smon: Jeremiah: "Stop that at once!"
Smon: init, pcs first:
Amalric: uncanny dodge? should have used that earlier, too, even though was healed for all of it
Smon: /roll d20x2
Smon Rolls 1d20x2 and gets:
13 = 13
4 = 4
Smon: You can't use Reactions on a surprise round, but could have used it vs monster, yup
Amalric: ah, okay
Smon: Bjornalf rolls his marbles...
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 1616,
Smon: DC 13, Garson makes the save & doesn't fall (luck of the devil)
Smon: /roll d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 1111, (+4) = 15
Smon: Garson hears his CO yelling at him and is stopping.
Amalric: (brb)
Smon: Jeremiah strides over to Garson and back-hands him across the face with gauntleted hand.
Smon: Jeremiah: "You are a soldier of Ahyf! You will not respond, no matter how provoked! Now get that trap door open!"
Kjato Ragfoot: I will recollect my marbles.
Smon: The soldiers & Hakeem move aside the massive table.
Kjato Ragfoot: They are useful.
Amalric: (back)
Smon: DEX DC 13 or fall prone, not bad esp if you're working w Rey.
Smon: With the table moved aside, the trapdoor can be seen, painted to resemble grey stone.
Smon: Garson leans down and grabs the ring, pulls.
Smon: With a slight creak the heavy trapdoor rises, revealing a dark spiral stair leading down.
Kjato Ragfoot: Descend or check the side tunnels?
Smon: Jeremiah: "Are the cultists down there, or up here?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Down there, I assume.
Smon: "Down, then?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Sounds like a good idea, but carefully. I fully expect this to be trapped.
Smon: Jeremiah: "Garson, Travers, you two go first. Lord Reynard and Sir Bjornalf will be right behind you."
Amalric: (just got a cuppa)
Smon: (BTW the guards have now decapitated the three corpses and hacked at the limbs a bit. One took some loot from the finely dressed fellow)
Amalric: (I would have checked the doors first)
Amalric: (they can have it for their hard work)
Smon: Rey checks the two doors while the table was being moved -
Smon: The west door opens creakily onto a kitchen with wood burning stove, counter, spice rack w a few bottles, pots, pans...
Smon: a couple rusty kitchen knives, spoons, ladles, & stirring utensils.
Smon: The south door is damp, slightly greenish with mold.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 44,
Smon: Do you want to open it?
Amalric: nope
Kjato Ragfoot: No. Slightly greenish with mould shouts "do not open me! Danger! Beware! Death ahead!"
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 44,
Amalric: my thoughts exactly
Smon: You hear a commotion from the guards up the north tunnel. "Sir! We have company!"
Amalric: Rey rushes off to help
Smon: A moment later the two guards appear, in the company of Thadeus the Elf, who Bjornalf met yesterday.
Smon: The Elven knight looks around at the throng of humans, hand on hilt of his enchanted blade. "Good morning... Or is it afternoon?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Afternoon.
Kjato Ragfoot: Good afternoon Thadeus.
Smon: He nods to Bjornalf. "Just hear to check on the gardens."
Amalric: "Gardens?" asks Rey
Smon: He looks at the hacked up corpses, the moved table, the open trapdoor. "Hmm... interesting. Never noticed that."
Kjato Ragfoot: Why do you have gardens in this cave when there are towns and guards right outside?
Smon: Thadeus looks to Rey, nods. "Vegetables & fruit through the secret doors on the east wall, fungus garden through there." He points to the south door. "As an Elf, I'm a keen gardener."
Kjato Ragfoot: There is a secret door?
Smon: He turns back to Bjornalf. "Glevina was talking about you all night... kept me from Trancing properly, I have at least two Fatigue levels - *yawn*!"
Kjato Ragfoot: You should send Glevina shopping with the girls, to have some time for yourself.
Smon: "I'm hardly going to want to eat Human food, now am I? And yes, there are three actually, along the east wall."
Smon: "The girls?"
Amalric: "You grow gardens? Down here? Aren't elves outdoorsy people?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. Malenn, Alli, Tamara.
Smon: Jeremiah: "I see you know each other. Elf, I am Captain Jeremiah of the Guard of Ahyf. We are here to cleanse these caves of foul Corruption!"
Smon: Thadeus turns to Rey first, shrugs. "The three through those secret doors are open to the sunlight... If you were to climb the cliffs I expect you'd find the holes. Sometimes Glevina likes to sunbathe there to work on her tan."
Smon: "Although most of the time it's bloody raining..."
Amalric: "And Glevina is...? Dont believe I've had the pleasure..."
Smon: He turns to Bjornalf. "Glevina, go shopping with your human women? Hmm."
Smon: Thadeus turns to Rey. His lips twist in a quizical smile. "Oh. I think she'd like you..."
Smon: Thadeus puts two fingers to his lips and whistles loudly.
Smon: "She'll be along in a minute."
Kjato Ragfoot: Be careful, she easily fails to resist charm spells.
Amalric: "Why should she be any..."
Smon: Ulfic is muttering something to himself about the dangers of the Fey...
Smon: Thadeus snorts. "I don't suppose you have any awareness... Elven Women ovulate once every three years. During the fertile period they come 'On Heat', as it were..."
Smon: Ulfic steps back. "Oh my."
Amalric: "Once every three years? Thats a bit tight. What do you do in between, for...fun?"
Smon: Thadeus: "And Glevina has not set eyes on an Elven male other than myself, her brother, for some time. This unfortunately has caused... Fun? What fun?"
Smon: "Another Elf, sir!"
Amalric: "Sorry, my mistake. Missed something in translation."
Amalric: "I do apologise."
Smon: "Yoo-hoo! Thadeus! Who are your lovely friends?!" The guards escort in a smiling Elven maiden. Like her brother she has the red skin and dark hair of the Altanian elves. Where he wears reinforced leathers with buckler and slender blade, she wears a rather skimpy midriff-baring top, with short skirt and laced slippers, a slim knife at her belt.
Smon: Glevina smiles brightly at all of you, brushing her hair from her eyes. "What a lovely bunch of humans!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah. Hello Glevina.
Amalric: "You must be Glevina! Charmed to meet you. I am Lord Reynard Mercellin."
Amalric: Rey bows floridly
Smon: Captain Jeremiah bows. "Ma'am." She turns to Bjornalf, smiling, then to Rey.
Smon: /roll d20+8
Smon rolls 1d20+8 and gets: 2020, (+8) = 28
Smon: LOL!!!
Amalric:
Smon: Love at first sight.... you can see the hearts appear in her eyes at the sight of him.
Amalric: Sunshine of your Love starts playing in the background...
Smon: Glevina: "Oh.... my...." she looks rather unsteady all of a sudden, putting a hand to her chest.
Smon: "...W...Welcome, Milord Mercellin..." she recovers enough to offer a dainty curtsy.
Amalric: Rey takes her hand, and kisses it softly
Amalric: "The pleasure is all mine, I'm sure."
Kjato Ragfoot: Not again.
Smon: Glevina offers her hand, looking entranced as Rey kisses it.
Smon: Fr. Ulfic coughs.
Amalric: (can't beat them off!)
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf gets some food out of the kitchend and offers it to the soldiers. "This may take awhile".
Smon: Thadeus: "So, as I was saying, Glevina is In Heat and her Judgement is Not To Be Trusted..."
Amalric: "Now, we have some Cultists to find, please excuse me."
Smon: (there's only some old spices in the kitchens)
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. What a pity.
Smon: Glevina waves a dismissive hand at Thadeus. "Grouchy grumpus! I'm perfectly self controlled... Shall I show you the arboreum?" (to Rey, smiling)
Amalric: (Rey resists saing, I know just how she feels)
Smon: Glevina gets closer to Rey, puts her arms round his waist, leans in close, whispers in his ear...
Smon: ....
Amalric: "Ah...another time, perhaps? We are on an important mission. But I would dearly like to see your gardens...I mean, the arboretum."
Amalric: "Well if it won't take long..."
Smon: "Cultists? You're surrounded by them."
Smon: Louder: "This way, Rey!"
Kjato Ragfoot: We know that.
Amalric: (did she whisper we're surrounded?)
Smon: She leads Rey over to the east wall, deftly slides back a panel.
Smon: >> "Cultists? You're surrounded by them."<< Glevina whispered this in Rey's ear. No one else could hear.
Smon: Sunlight floods through the open panel.
Smon: Beyond is a small garden, 20' deep by 10' wide, with 10' high walls up to the open sky above.
Smon: A drizzle is still falling, sparkling in the sunlight, the plants gleaming moistly.
Smon: Glevina leads Rey through, closes the panel behind him so the two are alone.
Smon: Glevina: "All of them - you have to get out of here - your friends too!"
Amalric: Rey looks at her quizzically. "What did you mean?"
Amalric: "Shit."
Amalric: "It is worse than I feared."
Smon: "We hear their voices, we know their tread - those men, the Soldiers, the Priest..."
Smon: "Funny, we knew they had a secret door - we never thought to look under the table!" She giggles.
Amalric: "Any suggestions as to how we might get around them>"
Smon: "They must be leading you down there to ambush you, kill you..."
Smon: Glevina shrugs. "When they know you're onto them, they'll attack. Now, pretend we're making whoopee..."
Amalric: "Just pretend?"
Amalric: "A dying man's last wish..?"
Smon: Glevina groans theatrically: "Oh, yes....!"
Smon: /roll d20+8
Smon rolls 1d20+8 and gets: 1212, (+8) = 20
Smon: Glevina stops, raising an eyebrow. "Really? You humans are incorrigible!"
Smon: She smiles.
Amalric: "We don't have to, pretense is fine. I could save my energy I supose..."
Smon: Outside in the banquet hall, Bjornalf and co hear Glevina's call. Thadeus sighs.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thadeus, you do not by chance have some liquor in that fungus garden of yours?
Smon: Glevina leans in, arms round Rey's neck, and kisses him swiftly. "You're lovely! But maybe later..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Knowing Rey, that might take some time.
Amalric: "Yes, later. I look forward to it."
Smon: Thadeus nods to Bjornalf. "Mmm, yes. Pineapple fungus..."
Smon: He goes to the south door, opens it and goes in.
Smon: Glevina resumes the theatrics: "Oh! Oh! yes..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf follows him. Pineapple fungus is exactly what he needs right now.
Amalric: "Stop. Someone is here..."
Smon: She whispers: "Rey, get your people away from the guards, get the guards in a group, I'll take care of them..."
Smon: Glevina looks to the secret door, still closed. "No."
Amalric: "Sorry, false alarm." (ie I read that wrong!)
Amalric: "Give me a second, I'll call Bjornalf."
Amalric: Rey opens the secret door. "Bjornalf, you must see these blooms! Come here a moment."
Smon: Bjornalf follows Thadeus out the south (not secret) door into a fungal-filled cavern, several more caves leading off to sw east and south - the south sloping down to a water filled cave.
Smon: He hears Rey calling.
Amalric: "Or stay there." (assuming Glevina is ready)
Smon: Jeremiah: "Time's a wasting... they could be sacrificing Amari to their dark god as we speak!"
Amalric: Rey will turn and nod, if she is
Smon: Behind Rey, Glevina casts an eye about the chamber - two guards stand near the north door with Malenn, Hakeem & Eardvulf, Jeremiah Ulfic and the rest are all within 20' of the secret trapdoor in the middle...
Smon: Glevina: "UUTCGVH SDHY JKIT!"
Smon: She raises a delicate hand...
Smon: A streak of flame shoots out into the centre of the great chamber, above the guards...
Smon: BOOM!!!!!
Smon: Men scream as the Fireball enfolds them.
Smon: 5th level slot...
Amalric: "Holy smokes! I thought you meant a Sleep spell!!"

Smon: Rey sprints at Ulfic as he starts to chant...
Amalric rolls 2d20 and gets: 88, 1414, = 22
Smon: AC 13, so 2 hits
Amalric: no sneak?
Smon: I believe your Assassin abilities apply

Amalric: bah
Amalric rolls 1d4+1 and gets: 44, (+1) = 5
Amalric: is Crit x2?
Smon: Ulfic goes down in a spray of blood, his jugular severed.
Smon: he only had 10 left
Amalric: "Thanks for the heal, old chap. Sorry I had to kill you, you evil bastard."
Smon: Bjornalf you heard the fireball behind you, turn to see Rey sprint across the chamber and kill Fr Ulfic.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh well. Anybody left to kill?
Kjato Ragfoot: If yes, I will Poison Spray him.
Amalric: yes, Jeremiah, 2 guards
Smon: Thadeus sighs, drawing his blade, the runes shining brightly. "Typical Glevina. Not again..."
Smon: Bjornalf casts Poison Spray as Jeremiah raises his Greatsword against Rey.
Smon: save roll:
Smon: /roll d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 1212, (+4) = 16
Smon: no effect.
Smon: Thadeus passes Bjornalf, entering the chamber with sword drawn.
Smon: Malenn by the north wall, unsure, puts her sword to a guard's throat, Hakeem Eardvulf do the same with the second guard.
Smon: A scorched Jeremiah charges at Rey, screaming, Greatsword raised...
Amalric: tell me Thadeus beats him to it
Smon: Glevina flicks three glowing blue magic missiles into Jeremiah.
Smon: /roll 6d4+6
Smon rolls 6d4+6 and gets: 11, 11, 33, 44, 22, 44, (+6) = 21
Smon: Jeremiah crashes to the ground at -4 hp. Glevina simpers: "Oops! Sorry Rey, stole your kill! I only meant to wing him for you!"
Amalric: "Oh, no need to be fussy! Let me finish him."
Smon: The last two guards at the north wall gulp and put their hands up.
Amalric: Rey slits his throat, just to be sure
Amalric: ("Sorry man, I need the XP!")
Kjato Ragfoot: It seems your evil scheme did not work as expected, didn't it?
Smon: Rey slits the Captain's throat. The blood that comes out seems slightly greenish. Malenn: "Rey! What's going on! Why did you kill them?!"
Kjato Ragfoot: I am just a little disappointed I could not kill Glason myself.
Amalric: We've either just had a great victory, or we've just set up two Evil Elves with the entire town at their mercy
Smon: Glevina giggles at Rey's words.
Amalric: "See the blood on this one? It's GREEN!! They are Cultists! All of them!!"
Smon: Thadeus strides forward, sheathing his blade. "Oh... Chaotic Neutral, at worst." He smiles slightly.
Amalric: "It was them or us, better we take them while we had the advantage."
Kjato Ragfoot: Chaotic Neutral? No wonder I get along so well with Thadeus!
Smon: Leaving Hakeem to cover the guard, Malenn comes over to Rey, Bjornalf & the Elves, standing over the corpses.
Smon: Malenn: "Hm, it does look a bit green..."
Amalric: "A bit? It's darkest emerald!"
Smon: She concentrates, closing her eyes. "I... there is a taint of corruption, here..." Glevina: "Well, don't look at me! I'm as pure as the driven snow!" She winks at Rey.
Smon: Thadeus turns to Malenn and the others. "Your cultist friends were going to lure you down into their pits, then ambush you at a suitable moment."
Amalric: "How come they have never troubled you two?"
Smon: Glevina looks at the carnage: "Their boss will be really annoyed with us now, Thadeus. It might be time to leave. I know you love your garden..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Or your could come along and help us get rid of the boss.
Smon: Thadeus: "I hate this place. I'm just waiting for the water to subside..." He looks at Rey. "Oh, we killed a couple dozen, early on. Then they left us alone."
Kjato Ragfoot: Then you could keep this cave as your own, without being troubled by any more cultists.
Smon: Thadeus: "Your Human affairs are of no concern to us. We are Elves."
Amalric: "We could use your help finishing them off..?"
Smon: /roll d20+8
Smon rolls 1d20+8 and gets: 1414, (+8) = 22
Smon: Glevina: "Thadeus, look! This secret tunnel must be a way to the Unflooded Zone! We could at least come with them until we find a way home?"
Smon: Thadeus nods. "Hmm...."
Amalric: "The water keeps you here?"
Smon: Malenn: "What do we do with these two prisoners (the 2 captured guards)? They may know something?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Well. We ask them.
Amalric: "Yes, question them. What do they know?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will approach the two captured guards. "Tell me, is there anything you want to tell us?"
Smon: Thadeus nods to Rey. "As we told your friends, we came through the south tunnels, but the water rose behind us, trapped us in this part of the megadungeon. I don't think we're even on the right planet or plane, currently. We would like to get back, and are waiting for the waters to subside."
Amalric: Rey strips the dead bodies of valuables
Smon: /roll 8d6
Smon rolls 8d6 and gets: 44, 66, 22, 22, 11, 66, 66, 44, = 31

Smon: 21gp on Ulfic, and a jade statuette of a squid-headed winged deity on a chain round his neck.
Smon: Must be an (un)holy symbol...
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, we knew he was a cultist.
Amalric: "Oooh, that's not nice. We will take that back to Father Synjyn, as proof."
Smon: The guards look at Bjornalf, gulp. One speaks up. "The demons... the Starfall Demons are coming."
Amalric: no oodles of magic on these guys??
Kjato Ragfoot: No. They are not. They can only come if summoned by mislead humans.
Smon: The other one seems to enter a reverie, and begins chanting an ancient hymn: ""Mr President, this is Sky Marshall Lamal.
Smon: He comes out of the reverie, grinning smugly.
Smon: (brb coffee...)
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. That reminds me of that transmission in Reys house.
Amalric: Rey walks up and sticks his rapier through the fellow's heary
Amalric: *heart
Amalric: "Yes, Bjornalf. Disturbing."
Kjato Ragfoot: But we know from Clevenus the cysts can easily be destroyed.
Smon: "*ugh*" says the cultist stabbed by Rey...
Smon: /roll 1d8+4+3d6
Smon Rolls 1d8+4x3 and gets:

Smon rolls 3d6 and gets: 44, 22, 22, = 8
Smon: He's dead.
Amalric: "Cysts?"
Smon: The other one shivers.
Smon: Malenn: "Rey! You can't kill prisoners! I mean... "
Amalric: "You seem awfully quiet? Nothing to say?"
Amalric: "Sorry Malenn, but that fellow was clearly irredeemable."
Kjato Ragfoot: My friend, you have the choice: Revoke your evil heresy or die.
Amalric: "I couldn't risk him living."
Smon: The secon cultist looks at Rey.
Smon: /roll d20+7
Smon rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 11, (+7) = 8
Kjato Ragfoot: You see, it is difficult to keep him (pointing at Rey) from killing you.
Smon: He spits a gobbet of green gloop at Bjornalf's face.
Smon: /roll d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 22, (+4) = 6
Smon: Bjornalf dodges it.
Smon: Lucky.
Smon: The cultist starts to cackle madly, his skin distorting, bulging.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh well. I will cut him down, that is clearly self-defense.
Smon: Malenn: "Rey! Kill him!"
Smon: init, PCs first
Amalric: Rey does
Smon: /roll d20x2
Smon Rolls 1d20x2 and gets:
12 = 12

Amalric: "Oh, so now its okay to kill captives..."
Smon: You strike first...
Smon:
Amalric rolls 2d20 and gets: 1515, 1616, = 31
Smon: Malenn blushes.
Amalric rolls 1d8 and gets: 44,
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 55, (+2) = 7
Amalric rolls 1d8+4 and gets: 33, (+4) = 7
Smon: stab stab, Sneak attack
Amalric: ignore that, 8hp from t, w/ehe first roll, or 7hp
Amalric rolls 1d4+1 and gets: 33, (+1) = 4
Amalric rolls 3d6 and gets: 33, 55, 66, = 14
Amalric: much better
Smon: Rey runs him through, he falls, writhing, then lies still.
Smon: Glevina: "Don't worry about him. They do that stuff a lot. Sometimes they crack open and little tentacles come out... That's fun."
Amalric: Rey keeps stabbing until he's sure its dead
Smon: stab stab stab
Smon: (need to stop v shortly)
Amalric: "Do you Elves have any idea what the message or hymn means? Andthing relative to your world?"
Amalric: *anything
Smon: Glevina smiles at Rey again: "If you boys would like to hang on, we'll get packed up and join you shortly?"
Kjato Ragfoot: You are welcome.
Amalric: "Certainly!"
Smon: Thadeus: "Markabs... On our world the Markabs are Sky Demons allied with the Lok'Naar Imperium... they wield dark powers of ScientiSorcery..."
Kjato Ragfoot: It must be the demons Clevenus mentioned.
Smon: Glevina: "That squid-heady thing looks familiar... Uh'lut'c? Isn't he a Markab Prince?"
Amalric: Rey looks to Bjornalf to see if he understands, because Rey is lost
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf nods wisely.
Kjato Ragfoot: I believe it was Kutul or something like that, according to the book they used against Tamara.
Amalric: Rey thinks Bjornalf seems to know an awful lot about this. Maybe he is a Cultist too...?
Amalric:
Kjato Ragfoot: (Well, I actually am. Just different cult. :D)
Smon: Thadeus: "The 'Hymn' sounded to me to be a historical recording from the past of your world. Someone called Skymarshall Lamal had used Warforged - robots - to take a Markab base? And was going to shoot a Bioweapon? Maybe... the cysts... the star demons?"
Smon: Glevina nods sagely. "He was shooting it at dragons! You have dragons on your world? We have big dragons!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Clevenus mentioned them shooting ... demons that they use to impregnate women.
Kjato Ragfoot: And that we should hurry, because last time those demons chewed through quite a lot of heroes before they could be stopped.
Amalric: "That would explain the abductions."
Smon: Glevina grimaces. "How yucky! I wonder if they can impregnate dragons? That would be horrible!"
Kjato Ragfoot: They probably could, if they had any dragons.
Smon: Thadeus nods. "The Markabs lust after Elven women... possibly even Human women. They create demons called Houris for sexual purposes.... It's possible your cultists' interest in the women is unrelated to the Bioweapon Cysts."
Kjato Ragfoot: On another note, how did you sniff those cultists out that easily?
Amalric: "Yes...."
Smon: Glevina: "Yes! I remember now! Those naughty Lok'Naar - they're always after beautiful girls like me!!"
Amalric: (Rey is definitely lost)
Amalric: "And who can blame them?!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. They do have something in common with Rey than.
Smon: Glevina: "We have keen hearing... That lot would come and go a lot."
Smon: OOC Talking of which, Jeremiah left 2 guards outside with your horses...
Amalric: They impregnate horses too??!?!?!
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, technically it is THEIR horses.
Smon:
Kjato Ragfoot: Also, we should be able to defeat two guards if necessary.
Amalric: We can just call them over...then say they are arrested
Amalric: or kill them, you know how it is, cant trust these captives, eh Malenn?
Kjato Ragfoot: Because that worked so well last time? (Bjornalf points to the other two former captives)
Smon: Malenn: "Hmmm...." she looks down.
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's destroy that master of theirs, perhaps they are more open minded afterwards?
Amalric: "Don't worry Malenn, normally we would do it your way. Just not this time, this evil was too nasty."
Smon: Glevina nods. "I'm sure they have a big boss, somewhere deep in the megadungeon! He probably has your missing girls!"
Smon: Malenn nods to Rey.
Amalric: "Care to go look for him, with us? That fireball was awfully useful."
Smon: Glevina: "Well, can't talk all day! Be back in fifteen minutes!"
Amalric: "And I am sure Thadeus is no slouch with that shiny blade..."
Kjato Ragfoot: (Hmm. We could throw the guards in that monster pit. I am curious what kind of monster is hiding there)
Smon: Thadeus nods slightly to Rey, smiling. "Indeed." Glevina beckons to him and they head north out of the chamber, back to get their stuff.
Smon: ooc ok need to stop!
Smon: Was fun even w only 2 PCs.
Kjato Ragfoot: I won't be able to play next Friday.
Smon: Trust Rey to crit on a Persuasion roll on his first meeting w Glevina.
Smon: oh, pity K.
Smon: How about Saturday instead?
Smon: I might go into work then do 2 games Saturday?
Kjato Ragfoot: I am visiting friends for Pentecost, most likely won'T be online much.
Smon: Would like to have you play K, but if not we'll have to do w/out the continuity.
Kjato Ragfoot: I could play Friday evening.
Smon: You ok Friday Graham?
