chris107: Hi Fergus
Sandor Sunneson: Hi chaps
chris107: Or Sandro!
Sandor Sunneson: Hola
chris107: Monk sounds interesting.
Sandor Sunneson: We will defeat Crow finger tonight Chris
Sandor Sunneson: Yeah, thought I'd give it a go
chris107: hehe
chris107: Ishould really look up Find familiar.
Smon: Hi Fergus
Smon: Sorry was just posting Bright Seraphim page - http://smons.blogspot.co.uk/2017/06/the-bright-seraphim-of-valon-mordred.html
Smon: Sandro - Sandor - now I get it.
Smon: Sorry I'm slow
chris107: Thanks Simon
Sandor Sunneson: ha ha, hadn't even seen that
Smon: Bill refuses to play, just imagine George Formby is playing ukelele in the corner of the tavern bar.
Smon: LOL
Sandor Sunneson: Was thinking Greek or Italian name
chris107: He's sticking with George Formby?
Sandor Sunneson: And it came up
Smon: I thought it had to be deliberate when chris said Sandro just now
Smon: Georgios Formbios the famous Ghinarian Bard.
chris107: Thinking Snowy Owl Familiar?
chris107: Hehe
chris107: If my Auntie doris was still alive, she would be so proud.
Smon: Snowy owl sounds good - I see you cunningly took Ritual - Find Familiar
chris107: I had a good long look.
chris107: It could be very useful and fits in with the Amala/Athena theme.
Sandor Sunneson: So, where are these young men?
Smon: yup, very wise.
chris107: But I wonder how long we will survive?
Smon: GM: It is a humid and rainy evening in the Bratanis Inn, Bratanis.
Smon: The Inn is busy tonight. Two sweating buxom serving wenches scurry hither and yon to serve the locals and travellers, their fair skin moist with perspiration.
chris107: Mordred inwardly recoils at the proximity of the common folk.
chris107: He has to remind himself that it is the common herd he is sworn to protect.
Sandor Sunneson: Is he going to start a bar fight Ursa style?
Smon: At the low bar the Halfling Innkeep Mako is serving drinks, including the famous Bratanis Ouzo. "The Humus! Always the Humus!" he yells over at a redhead loincloth clad server, who nods, ducking back into the kitchen.
chris107: Oh God no! He doesn't want to get too close to the plebs.
Smon: Beside the bar an enormous wolf lolls contentedly, chewing on a bone.
Sandor Sunneson: Lolls? Laughs out loud?
chris107: ?
Sandor Sunneson: Lol, loll, laugh out loud
Smon: Lies around.
Smon: Not LOL.
Smon: The redhead re-emerges from the kitchen with a platter of humus dip and flatbreads.
chris107: ah!
Smon: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJapaNqVPB4K5GHNVkaV6bYRyLLGzRZF7y_cZctIYXRAqAlIN0qwl46S-3uVEipOJu4nqyCX6GBUfAwonLxHbZmYBlC_o8oCSFQtydTVfnRZoHmIpm3rEXca5_U0tmgSHcPRSScCMxNXYu/s1600/Candice+Wright,+wealthy+heiress.png
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 3,
chris107: Ah yes, I remember her..
Smon: She approaches the strange blue gentleman sat alone at a table.
Smon: "Some humus sir?"
chris107: "Thank you."
chris107: (Dowe have any gold?)
Smon: "You're welcome!" She sets down a platter and moves on to a group of merchants nearby.
chris107: (Mordred has never really had to sully his blue hands with coin)
Smon: Default is you start w 10gp but as you put noble background you can have 25gp chris.
chris107: Cool
chris107: Could he have used 10 of the coins to cast his FF?
Smon: Chris are you playing Kyle's half-orc tonight? You could have met on board ship & landed at Ahyf before heading south.
Smon: yup
Smon: You can have 15 + owl
chris107: And have his Owl stuffed away in a pocket dimension as described in the spell?
Smon: ok
chris107: Kyle has left instructions
Sandor Sunneson: Stay alive ??
chris107: But he says he understands if you'd rather wait until he's here.
chris107: (Stay alive would be a good one )
Smon: Several people look up as a broad-shouldered, muscular man with greying hair enters the Inn. He wears battered gladiator's garb and has the air of a seasoned warrior.
Smon: You can make DC 15 INT checks to recognise
Smon: http://www.aresmythologic.com/v2/97-302-thickbox/arom-g14-thracian-gladiator.jpg
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 9,
chris107 rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 1, (+4) = 5
chris107: Some foreigner
Smon: The halfling looks up: "Evening, Archermos! Some ouzo?"
Smon: The man shakes his head. "No thank you, Mako. I'm looking for a few good men..."
Sandor Sunneson: Int 11
Smon: A slight hush falls in the Inn hall as Archermos speaks:
Smon: "Friends! The Lady Thuvia Bratanis, lord of this town, has need of heroes! A man - a shepherd - is missing, taken by miscreants! She offers a hundred gold for his return!"
chris107: Mordred asks a nearby patron "Who's that?"
chris107: Mordred can not refuse to help an innocent.
chris107: "My sword is yours Sir."
Smon: The young man looks at Mordred curiously. "Ain't never seen no blue folks before... That's Archermos, the Lady's Weaponmaster."
Sandor Sunneson: I would also like to assist
chris107: "A man of quality then. Good."
Smon: Archermos looks to Mordred then Sandro, his face breaks into a warm smile. "Excellent! Any others?"
chris107: A large ugly half orc looks at the two weeds
Smon: In the corner a minstrel is quietly strumming a ukelele, some saucy ballad... he hurriedly looks away.
chris107: "You probably need me, looking at those two."
Smon: Archermos nods to the big half-orc. "Your aid is welcome! You three, come with me - the Lady will want to meet you."
chris107: The half Orc is very big nd heavily armoured in chainmail. A massive two handed hammer rests against the wall close to hand.
Smon: Archermos beckons for the three adventurers to follow him.
chris107: Mordred looks horrified.
chris107: But goes along.
chris107: Zagaar saunters along.
Sandor Sunneson: Follow Arch
Sandor Sunneson: Hello halforc, I'm Sandro
chris107: "Zagaar."
Sandor Sunneson: Nods in his direction
Smon: GM: Archermos escorts you across the village green and into the Bratanis Lords' Hall. The long hall is dimly lit but for a puddle of light illuminating the throne at the far end, on which sits a pretty but sad-eyed lady in blue dress, talking with an elderly man in priestly robes.
chris107: £Try not to get me killed."
Smon: Lady Thuvia & deceased Yusan https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBDnIcq8u1AcR8HRAln8X3adIs1Ii4WEc2Yff6FaFbzu-jtzY1A3N15luEaDuDewmtFodXGdU5BtqGvpS0xFlfQZozFI9RR78Orgu21s9Qx5uwoQebyktuOf4DqCE3c5zwX0XurQia5p0/s400/Warlord+Yusan.jpg
Smon: Archermos strides forward: "Milady, these three heroes have answered your call."
Sandor Sunneson: Was His Ham's dad?
chris107: Mordred bows elegantly
chris107: "M'lady."
Smon: Lady Thuvia beckons you forward. "You are most welcome, my friends."
Sandor Sunneson: Yussan even
chris107: Zagaar grins and nods
chris107: (Yussan was Hakeem's dad, yes)
Sandor Sunneson: Predict text lol
chris107: (Got about a bit did old Yussan)
Sandor Sunneson: Sandro will step forward and bow
Smon: Thuvia smiles at the trio.
Smon: "I have need of your aid..."
chris107: M: "I am at your service."
Smon: "The Shepherd, Shelos, has been taken from the meadows west of town - his shep-hound found slain!"
chris107: tuts
chris107: "Are there known miscreants or monsters in this local m'lady?"
Smon: "The slave girl Misha was also herding sheep in the vicinity, and says she saw him in the arms of robed figures, carrying him west along the Pilgrim's Trail towards Sky God Idol."
Smon: "She says he was still alive. They did not look like slavers - Father Eberus here thinks the Cult of Thanatos may have returned! If so, gods know what they intend to do with him..."
chris107: "Thanatos?!"
Smon: The old man stood beside the chair nods."Indeed."
Sandor Sunneson: Death God
chris107: "Aye. My order is sworn to it's destruction."
chris107: (His order is sworn to much destruction )
Smon: Eberus - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsL9epFjfjkRNHBN7twh3pIhXir0xX4t_c5hEMcC25f3q_9QOHQl_Ekdp-Z2QixKH15I9E_bsrqNb5dRXic-IxWX5oEFnfaws6KX1_HgnzFKrVDm_8n-8rc0GobcUjs4iLhHFV2Iq1ONQ/s320/370724-da0d4a33911d81b747b470112817dbf1.jpg
Smon: Eberus smiles warmly at Mordred. "That is good to hear!"
chris107: Z "How far is this idol?"
Smon: "I am Eberus - the Wise, they call me. Last Priest of Zeus Skyfather, trained at the Ancient Academy at Sky God Idol, before it fell to darkness..."
Smon: Eberus: "Ten miles west along the trail - you really can't miss it."
chris107: M "Good Sir, it is a pleasure."
chris107: Z "Thanks"
Sandor Sunneson: We go in morning?
chris107: Z "Do we get the 100 if these death guys have killed your sheepherder?"
chris107: M - dies of embarresment.
Smon: Thuvia nods. "You are welcome to my Hall for the night. If you wish, I can send Misha with you - she can identify Shelos and his kidnappers."
Smon: Thuvia reddens slightly. "If you return his body, I will pay."
chris107: M "You are most kind m'lady."
Smon: Eberus: "Now, let me tell you about the layout of the Ancient Academy..."
Smon: With a flourish, the old priest unrolls a parchment scroll on which an upside down U shape is drawn, 3 dots on it - left side, centre and right side.
Smon: "The Academy buildings sat on a spur of rock just south of the Idol, with the subterranean Halls below. The buildings are fallen now, but the Halls remain, with three modes of ingress..."
Smon: "In the centre, steps lead down from the ruins into the central halls. On the east cliff a second entrance leads in westward..."
Smon: "And on the west side of the spur is a third, a cave leading in eastwards."
chris107: (So the steps lead down northwards?)
Smon: He indicates the 3 dots - "Cave on the west side, central steps, and tunnel on the east side."
Smon: Eberus: ""I was but a Novitiate when raiders beset the Academy on all sides - Men, Ghuls, Goblins, Ogres, and worse...
Smon: "Cultists of some dark force - Anti-Clerics! Their magic was strong. Too many of us fell. No more pilgrims came. When the Patriarch died, the decision was made to abandon the Academy. Some went west, to join the Priests of Mitra at the Vaults of Belaras. Others scattered. I returned home - here, to Bratanis. The village needed a priest..."
Smon: "We fired the buildings, so that no force of Evil could use them. Only the warrens below remain, the crypts of the Old Fathers, the well and the butteries..."
chris107: M "Let us hope we can reclaim this holy place."
Smon: You get the feeling Eberus has delivered this speech before.
Sandor Sunneson: So how many cultists are based here?
Sandor Sunneson: There even
Smon: Eberus shrugs. "We thought they had abandoned the Academy ruins years ago! But now it seems something draws them back."
chris107: M "And rescue poor Shelos from their evilclutches!"
chris107: Z "Hmmmm"
Sandor Sunneson: We leave in the morning?
chris107: "A sound plan, Our Lady of the Dawn will surely bless this mission."
chris107: Z "Hmmmmm"
Sandor Sunneson: Can she bless us with high sided Di rolls?
chris107: She can try
Smon: Thuvia: "I thank you all. I must retire now, but please rest in my Hall..." She indicates the lounging seats, akin to chaise-longue
chris107: M "M'lady." Bows
Smon: Thuvia: "Archermos, have the servants provide these men with whatever they require."
Smon: She stands, nods to you all. "Thank you all for undertaking this - Thusia will be forever in your debt."
Smon: Thuvia withdraws, and you may rest in the hall overnight, servants bring you good wine, olives and water.
Smon: skip to next morning?
chris107: Z very quietly under his breath "Aye, for a hundred gold at least."
Sandor Sunneson: Yes
Smon: GM - Day 2:
Smon: /roll d8
chris107: yup unless Fergus has anything to add?
Smon rolls 1d8 and gets: 7,
Sandor Sunneson: No
chris107: (OOC Just had a text from Kyle, asking how things were going. I explained we were off to rescue a shepherd from Thanatari death cultists. He wrote back and I quote "Zagaar would beat the shepherd within an inch of his life and rape his sheep."! )
Smon: You wake to an overcast day, but it's not raining, for what seems the first time in weeks. You breakfast with Lady Thuvia and her retinue, including her young daughter, a three year old girl.
Smon: Fr Eberus whispers to Mordred: "The girl is Aescha, our lady's child by Yusan..."
chris107: M is far too well bred to pry.
Smon: The girl does have a slight reddish tone to her complexion, a sign of Altanian ancestry.
chris107: (Has the name Yusan reached the North?)
chris107: (Hakeem's second cousin?)
Smon: (You heard of this warlord brigand when you arrived at Ahyf a couple weeks back). As breakfast is being cleared Archermos enters the hall with a lightly dressed girl of about 20.
Smon: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZWgiKJ1OX5SDrii9rqnSPkoTBlgAc6jlIEx1UjJc8HReTlNxeWGWC7mNCUKtyY4QZGXjyo92bXyu9bE6fejQrn5uwkyirK_YbF-taHhkCbhcurqJz3O50Py9lF6QQqNGYgBV1V9txxag/s320/slave_girl___by_mitchfoust.jpg
Sandor Sunneson: Hope Yussan pays his child maintenance on time
Smon: "This is Misha, the girl who saw them take Shelos. She is to aid you, so far as she can."
chris107: He will have a job on...
Smon: Misha nods, looking curiously at you, eyes settling on the massive half-orc.
chris107: M bows
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will now at her
chris107: He grins a tusky and somewhat dribbly grin.
Sandor Sunneson: Bow
Smon: Yusan has a permanent exemption from child support courtesy of his daughter Laurana.
chris107:
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 6,
Sandor Sunneson: Sandro even
Smon: The girl looks up at the half-orc and shudders.
Smon: /roll d20x2
chris107: This pleases Zagaar
Smon Rolls 1d20x2 and gets:
1 = 1
8 = 8
Smon: She doesn't look too happy to see any of you.
chris107: hehe
Smon: Deciding that Sandro seems the least weird, she nods at him. "Hello, master. "
Sandor Sunneson: She is here to work, not play
Smon: (rolled 1 for Mordred CHA check, Sandro got
Smon: 8
Sandor Sunneson: Hello, you'll be taking us on the road to ship?
Sandor Sunneson: Sky god Idol even
chris107: (I gathered, Mordred cares little about the likes and dislikes of the great unwashed)
Smon: "I can take you on the Pilgrim's Trail if you like..." She yawns. "But you can see the Idol from here, if you just go out on the green... it's massive!"
chris107: (Though he is unfailingly kind to them)
Sandor Sunneson: Where you saw this shepphardvget kidnapped?
Smon: She nods. "I can take you to there."
Smon: Archermos: "Gods go with you, my friends."
Sandor Sunneson: Ready gents?
chris107: Yup
chris107: OOC 2 mins to grab a glass of wine okay?
Smon: GM: You ready your packs, now stuffed with olives, flatbreads and vine wraps, your waterskins full of good wine...
Smon: me too
Smon: (hmm, this South African white not as good as the Australians I usually have)
chris107: back
Smon: Misha grabs a shepherd's staff lent against the hall wall, and leads you out the western gate.
chris107: (South African Sauvignon Blanc here too. Was on special offer at Sainsbury's )
Smon: Leopard's Leap chenin blanc - I shouldn't go by who has the cheesiest name.
chris107: SA Chenin's are usually quite good.
Smon: Walking through fields and hillside meadows dotted with copses of trees, you soon come to the scene of a struggle, mud and some blood.
Smon: Misha: "That's where they killed Old Roofy the Shep-hound..." She wipes a glistening tear from her eye.
Smon: "One of them was limping - reckon Roofy gave him a good bite!"
Smon: She shows you muddy footprints.
chris107: Z (Thinking) Those dogs have plenty of meat on them. Would make for good eating.
chris107: M summons his owl from it's pocket dimension.
chris107: "Fly high, tell me what you see."
Smon: "There were four of them. They had a hood on master Shelos' head and his wrists were tied. They dragged him west, over towards the Trail..."
Smon: A snowy owl flutters from the nearest tree.
chris107: (The owl will be named Polgara by the way. Tacky I know )
Smon: do you want to 'warg' - step into it & see through its eyes?
chris107: No, just receive warningif danger lurks (if that is poss?)
Smon: yup, 100' telepathy
Smon: The owl circles high above, seeing no danger.
Smon: Misha: "That's a pretty owl - so white! Your pet, master?"
chris107: "My friend."
Smon: She nods. "This way."
Smon: Misha leads you downslope to the trail that runs west over the hills towards the distant hilltop form of the Sky God Idol, nine miles off.
chris107: Telepathically - warn us of danger Polgara, fly well.
Smon: The vast weathered form, the wings spread wide, the face long obscured by age and decay...
chris107: Z thinking "That owl looks tasty"
Smon: (looks like a 400' tall Angel of the North, slightly more tasteful)
Smon: You trek westwards.
chris107:
Sandor Sunneson: Now that is a magnificent detection, the monk gasps looking toward the idol
Sandor Sunneson: Magnificent erection
Sandor Sunneson: Even
chris107: I think we all spotted the auto correct there!
Sandor Sunneson: Lol, typos
Smon: A little after noon you come out of a gorge and see ahead of you the burnt-out and overgrown ruins of the ancient academy-monastery of Zeus Sky-Father, set into the hillside in the shadow of the great Sky Idol that looms above, hundreds of feet high. Faint tracks lead upslope into the centre of the rubble.
chris107: Polgara swoops around a bit
chris107: ;ooling for lurkers and such
Smon: The tracks lead up the southern slope to the ruins above.
Sandor Sunneson: Follow track
Smon: On the east side of the spur Polgara sees an area of fire-blackened grass just east of a tunnel entrance, with a few marks as if bodies have been lying there.
Smon: On the west side the owl sees a cave entrance, a rivulet of water trickling out.
Smon: Sandro follows the tracks that lead up into vine-wrapped ruins of fallen stone and a few fragments of long-burned wood.
chris107: If no sign of life she returns to Mordred and the dimensional pocket.
chris107: M draws his deceptively thin long sword.
Smon: Inside the shell of the most intact building, a long stairway leads down east into darkness.
chris107: Bringing his shield from his back to his left arm.
Sandor Sunneson: Any noises?
chris107: Z "Best check that cave first. Stuff likes to live close to water."
chris107: Z hefts his huge hammer
chris107: OOC is it dark within the cave?
Smon: yes
Smon: Sandros listens - roll WIS+Prof
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 5,
Smon: Just the wind - there's no sound from down the steps.
Sandor Sunneson: Years nowt
Smon: There are recent muddy tracks though.
chris107: Z then M do the same
chris107 Rolls 1d20x2 and gets:
4 = 4
12 = 12
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Smon: All seems quiet.
Smon: Misha: "Archermos gave me some torches - I could light one?"
chris107: Z goes and peers into the cave then down the tunnel east.
Smon: She picks a torch out of her pack.
chris107: Hoping his Darkvision will see and lurkers
Smon: Z goes round to the western cave, looking inside he sees many stalactites & stalagmites. Bats nestle sleepily on the ceiling. A small stream runs out.
chris107: he leaves it be
Sandor Sunneson: Don't be diving in any case pools Chris
Smon: It seems about 30' deep, with several exits. There are two rough-cut tunnels out from the cave, to the right/south and ahead/east, and the cave itself extends off to the leftnorth. So a 4-way intersection.
Sandor Sunneson: Cesspools
chris107: Not with Kyle's character Fergus. More than my life's worth!
Smon: Z heads round to the eastern entrance (you have now been here about 20 minutes)
Sandor Sunneson: Follow?
Smon: Heading over the charred grass he passes chewed remnants of a small humanoid - a goblin?
chris107: sure, if it looks safe maybe we should then follow the tracks down the steps to the main hall?
Smon: Looking in the east entrance, a tunnel runs west 20' then turns north.
chris107: Chewed by something big?
chris107: listen again
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 20, (+2) = 22
Smon: Hyenas, maybe?
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 5,
chris107: (Hyena's carried off poor Doris the Amazon)
Smon: (fear the hyenas)
Smon: All seems quiet.
chris107: M "Down the steps then?"
Smon: GM The steps lead down east to a landing, then continue down west, opening into a dimly lit vault with curved ceiling.
Smon: Arched Tunnels lead off to e & w.
Sandor Sunneson: Yes,down
Smon: The w tunnel goes 10' then hits a N-S tunnel at a t junction.
Smon: The e tunnel has a S tunnel off it right away, then runs another 20' before turning n.
Smon: You all assemble in the entry hall. Misha lights a torch.
chris107: okay, got it
Smon: Old dead leaves from the stairway are scattered about the floor.
chris107: The dragmarks still here?
chris107: signs of passage?
Smon: Orc & Monk can make DC 15 WIS+Prof (Survival) checks.
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 9, (+2) = 11
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 20,
chris107: nice one Fergus!
Sandor Sunneson: Pass?
Smon: Sandro spots the tracks, fainter now, enter the west tunnel then turn south.
chris107: "Then we must follow!"
chris107: M
Smon: Marching order in 10' passage, who's first?
chris107: (You want tosneak and stuff with Sandro?)
Smon: humans not sneak so good in pitch darkness
chris107: If not M is happy to go first.
Smon: 2 of you can go abreast
Smon: Misha behind w torch aloft.
chris107: M&Z upfront then Fergus?
Sandor Sunneson: Cool
Sandor Sunneson: Not fussed
Smon: The tunnel runs south 50' then comes to a junction, with an old oakwood door straight ahead and passages off to e & w.
chris107: Or Sandro up front?
chris107: (I'm really not sure what Mons do in 5e)
chris107: Monks
Smon: On the door is writing in Ghinarian script.
Smon: Sandro can read it - it says "Armoury"
Smon: The door shows signs of old damage, the lock broken.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
chris107: Z kicks it open
Sandor Sunneson: Is it shut?
Smon: /roll d20
Smon: yes
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 13,
Sandor Sunneson: No,lol
Smon: The tracks go along the west passage from the door.
Sandor Sunneson: Op
Sandor Sunneson: Open now?
chris107: Z "Don't want stuff lurking behind us."
Smon: Z kicks the door, it flies open with a crash.
Sandor Sunneson: Follow tracks?
Smon: Inside you see a 30x30 chamber with many weapon & armour racks,
chris107: Once wechecked this out, yes.
Smon: Spears, shields and suits of chain armour all somewhat rusty, and decayed linen cuirass.
chris107: anything moving or looking unusual?
Smon: The chamber seems fairly dry. No sign of life, no other exit.
chris107: Z grunts "After the sheepherder then."
Smon: Misha's eyes widen. "So much stuff!"
Smon: The shields, you note, bear a lightning bolt symbol.
Smon: You go west after the tracks?
chris107: If that's okay with you Fergus?
Sandor Sunneson: Yes
Smon: The passage runs west 30' then turns s for 20' then w again 20' before hitting a T-junction.
Smon: From the junction tunnels lead n & s, with tracks in both directions.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
Smon:
chris107: okay, got it.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 4,

chris107: And here we go!
Sandor Sunneson: Trouble....
Smon rolls 1d3 and gets: 2
Smon: /roll d4
Smon rolls 1d4 and gets: 3,
Smon: Suddenly you hear a yell from behind you, down the east passage!
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Sandor Sunneson: Thanatos himself walking his 3 dogs??
chris107: Turn and look
Smon: Sandro & Misha to rear?
Sandor Sunneson: Yes

Smon: Z listens at the door, he hears: "Ar Bolfi, those gobboes are allied with the cultists fer sure! Last one we killed said they were guardin' someone?"
Sandor Sunneson: Check door?
Smon: "Aye... Maybe one of those human princesses? Humans pay well for princesses!" (laughter)
chris107: Do your stuff Fergus
Smon: Sandro how do you check the door?

Smon: "Goblins?" "Goblins!"
chris107: M "We are not goblins!"
Sandor Sunneson: No goblins here
Smon: You hear the sound of movement in the room, furniture scraping, weapons being readied...
chris107: He knocks gently on the door
Smon: "Sounds like humans Bolfi..."
Smon: "Who's there?!"
chris107: "Good dwarves, we are enemies of the Thanatari, searching for their captive!"
Sandor Sunneson: Sandro

Smon:
chris107: silver tongued devil
Sandor Sunneson: We've just killed 3 cultists
Smon: You hear the sound of a bolt being raised.
Smon: The door opens, revealing 5 stout, heavily armed & armoured dwarves in a candlelit workshop cluttered with piles of wood & old rusting tools.
chris107: M bows
Smon: The fattest dwarf steps forward: "I'm Bolfi, leader of this ere band of Dwarven Explorers."
chris107: "I am Mordred, we are here to hunt the cultists and rescue a poor shepherd from them. Can you help?"
Sandor Sunneson: So nods
Smon: He eyes you all. Misha waves from behind the line of warriors. "Hello dwarves!"
chris107: Z lurks keeping quiet but not making any threatening moves or sounds
Smon: Bolfi scratches his bearded chin with a heavy crossbow.
chris107: "Between us I am sure we could lay them low!"
Smon: "Aye, the gobboes are holed up just down the south tunnel, past the pit... Prisoners are probably in the arena jail beyond."
chris107: "And we will be happy to help you kill the evil Goblins too I'm sure?" He turns to his pals for reassurance
Sandor Sunneson: Shrugs, sure, how many are there?
Smon: Bolfi: "Don't know exactly - 5 or 6 in the guardroom."
Smon: He eyes Z. "You look like you could bust their door down right smart."
Smon: OOC better finish up & get Bill to bed
Sandor Sunneson: Stopping there?
Smon: Bolfi nods: "You got a deal! We're just finishing up a short rest, then we'll help you kill the gobboes and find your prisoner."
chris107: Okay, nice one Simon. Say good night to Bill
Sandor Sunneson: Thank Simon
Smon: I did
Smon: Bill says goodnight

chris107: Hi Fergus

Smon: Yusan has a permanent exemption from child support courtesy of his daughter Laurana.
chris107:

Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 6,

Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 5,

chris107: Z goes and peers into the cave then down the tunnel east.

Smon: All seems quiet.
chris107: M "Down the steps then?"
Smon: GM The steps lead down east to a landing, then continue down west, opening into a dimly lit vault with curved ceiling.
Smon: Arched Tunnels lead off to e & w.
Sandor Sunneson: Yes,down
Smon: The w tunnel goes 10' then hits a N-S tunnel at a t junction.
Smon: The e tunnel has a S tunnel off it right away, then runs another 20' before turning n.
Smon: You all assemble in the entry hall. Misha lights a torch.
chris107: okay, got it
Smon: Old dead leaves from the stairway are scattered about the floor.
chris107: The dragmarks still here?

chris107: "Then we must follow!"
chris107: M
Smon: Marching order in 10' passage, who's first?
chris107: (You want tosneak and stuff with Sandro?)

Smon: 2 of you can go abreast
Smon: Misha behind w torch aloft.

Smon: From the junction tunnels lead n & s, with tracks in both directions.

chris107: M bows
