27/10/448 Time Mist & Steel Guardians (1375 XP)

joriandrake: before the others get here can you please explain how 5e surprise happens? I still don't fully get it. SO: everyone rolls Initiative, but only the non-surprised characters act, this counts as first turn, and then in second turn everyone acts based on init?
Smon: Yes. If you start with the Surprised condition you cannot take Reactions. You cannot act on your turn. The condition ends at the end of your turn.

Smon: You typically have the Surprised condition if attackers have sneaked up on you unawares.
Smon: High level Barbarians have a special power to act when Surprised on their turn, as long as they immediately Rage.
joriandrake: that is interesting, that would mean Bright Star could sneak up on someone, attack, and if low on Init still flee with her race/class abilities that very turn, of if high init decide that she also attacks once again on turn 2 and then flee before the enem,y can react on turn 2
