chris107: Evening Simon
Smon: Hi chris
Smon: I think Fergus said he was coming later?
Smon: The good news is you're getting double monster xp tonight...
chris107: 7:30 I think.
Smon: The bad news is...
chris107: kewl
Smon: Because Bill's Monster Mastering again.
chris107: That will please Fergus no end.
Smon: He has to stick closely to the stats & abilities of the monsters in this "for level 3 players" dungeon...
Smon: So look forward to Fantasy Vietnam, GI Hakeem.
chris107: Aye, Stirges and Trogs will not be much of a worry.
chris107: I think Sandor, Ajax and Ursa will be doing the heavy lifting. Hakeem can come in if they get in trouble.
Smon: Bill did 59 damage w 4 stirges, who could only do max 40 dmg between them before satiation.
chris107: They did fly past everyone to the wizard who was in a none specified position.
Smon: I think you'll be fine if you're careful & specify marching order etc. Fergus will need to be a lot more careful.
chris107: Would hate to loose another player!
Smon: He would have been fine if Sandor had just followed Ursa's lead instead of attacking Stirges on a Wizard with Spellbane.
chris107: Spellbane is indeed a two edged sword.
chris107: If I were Ajax, I wouldn't be within 50' of that sword!
chris107: But then again, playing a wizard online is blinking nigh on impossible.
Smon: brb
Smon: Re Whitestar I PM'd you re Zaerk background. Hope you can restart playing, or let me know if I should NPC him.
chris107: I was just chatting to Subs about him.
chris107: As I suspected I have just too many calls on my time at the moment.
chris107: I asked if he would run him as his henchman.
chris107: Three face to face groups, 6 online games and 2 PBP's are proving somewhat waring.
Smon: OK, what did subs say?
chris107: He says he's got enough on his plate too!
chris107: A shame, Z has great potential. A does the game.
Smon: Yeah game is looking great.
chris107: Traveller, Cthulhu, 5e,3.5,1e and then a new system to learn was getting me down.
Smon: I've had a lot of failed SF games, but I think I've worked out how to make it work, by using a D&D sandbox paradigm with "starter town" "Wilderness" & "Dungeon" areas.
chris107: Nice idea.
Smon: Pit you'll miss out on the Ultimate Revelation when they discover the Secret of the Maelstrom...
Smon: Now my old friend Bob is the only player for whom it'll have any meaning...
chris107: It is indeed. I just feel I'm letting everyone down. I don't want to do that. I try to put 100% into each game I play. This was just one game too far.
chris107: I'm not good at just 'cruising' games. I like to get involved.
chris107: Poor Kyle was becomimg a games widow.
Smon: OK sure no problem, I just needed to know. I'll make Zaerk an NPC, get him kitted out and he can count as Max's Assistant (henchman).
Smon: I'll just post that now - BRB
chris107: He plays in your online, low level. The bi-weekly 3.5 face to face and will be joining in Phil's 5e later in the year.
chris107: no probs, thanks
Smon: ok posted, good that's a weight off my mind.
chris107: apologies again.
Smon: I was feeling bad for Roxy stuck with a 'silent partner' bunkmate for Lt Wilcor.
Smon: 7.30, better get started in a mo.
chris107: Yeah, yup, Kyle just dishing out supper
chris107: I have H on 201 and U on 105
chris107: H 3 rages down and 1 (recovered) Berserk, U 2 Rages down.
Smon: map - http://pro.bols.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/forge-of-fury-map.jpg
chris107: U with 2 healing dice left and H with 6
chris107: Our Ogre chum had ripped out the bars at 10?
Smon: ok noted thanks
Smon: yup
Smon: The ceiling soars thirty feet high in the center of this impressive chamber, and the walls are carved with images of dwarves at their forges. Two large stone doors exit to the north and south . Several old skeletons lie scattered near the northern door. A gate of wrought iron lies fallen now near the western wall. In the center of the floor, a natural rift descends sharply. Dozens of stone steps lead down into darkness. You can hear the distant sound of running water and more buzzing coming from far below.
Smon: Inspecting the north door, with his Stonecunning Ursa can tell it's a fairly obvious Dwarven trap.
Smon: The door to the north is carved in the image of a glowering dwarf's face. Hinges are visible. On either side of the door, eight small spouts are carefully worked into the stonework about 10 feet above the floor.
chris107: Ursa wipes the hot Stirge blood from his hands and points this out.
Smon: The skeletons near the door are those of orcs killed long ago; their remains show signs of severe scorching. Rusted axe heads lie near the bodies, with no sign of the weapons' hafts.
chris107: "Best avoid that and get down those steps."
Smon: You begin down the broad steps.
Smon: The stairway twists and turns a long way downward. The floor has been cut into hundreds of shallow steps, but the walls and ceiling are still natural rock. About sixty feet down, a rushing stream spills from a narrow crack to the south and crosses the stairway, disappearing into a narrow, winding tunnel to the north. The rill is only two or three feet wide.
chris107: H to all. "Don't let the buggers get attached. If they do, squish 'em with your hands. We are all strong enough to do that. Ajax, stay well back and keep your spells to hand that can kill many small foes."
Smon: What's your march order?
6:41pm 2017-7-12 Sandor Sunneson Has entered the room
Smon: Hi Fergus, we just started, I'll repost.
chris107: Hi Fergus
Sandor Sunneson: I will be back in 5, just setting up pc

chris107: I'm thinking Ursa and Sandor front. Ulfe with his pike 2nd. H and Ajax to the rear.
6:43pm 2017-7-12 DESTROYERBILL Has entered the room
chris107: Evening, Bill
DESTROYERBILL: im gona screw you up im gona screw you up you gona die ha ha ha
Smon: cheers bill
chris107: Nice to see some impartial DMing there, Bill
Smon: don't trash talk my players!
DESTROYERBILL: my pleasure
DESTROYERBILL: ha ha ha
chris107: Any half wit DM can kill a player...
chris107: The true skill is to keep 'em scared.
DESTROYERBILL: but i can kill you wwith a level 3 dungeon
Smon: OK you are descending in an X-shaped formation with Ulfe in the middle, Ursa & Sandor in front - is Sandor using Spellbane for light?
DESTROYERBILL: dont i have you scared
Smon: Hakeem & Ajax to rear, does H have the Sword of Bondorr ignited?
chris107: Fergus is just setting up.
DESTROYERBILL: yes yes yes
chris107: H will spark up Bondorr's sword, yes.
DESTROYERBILL: you know this is a level 3 dungeon and i did 59 damge
Sandor Sunneson: And thus make it harder for your character in future as he will have no pc alies
chris107: H urges Sandor to keep Spellbane in it's sheath
Sandor Sunneson: No, using Kane sword
Smon: The eerie white light illuminates sparkling white stone littered with quartzite.
Smon: So no light source in front rank? Can Ajax cast Light? Otherwise Sandor will struggle on the steep & slippery stairs.
DESTROYERBILL: slip
Smon: Ajax does have Light - he could cast it eg on Sandor's shield?
Smon: (trying to help you out here)
DESTROYERBILL: dont give them hellp
DESTROYERBILL: ther in a level 3 dungeon for goodness sake
Sandor Sunneson: I am waiting for pc to reboot, he will cast light.
Smon: (You are going to need to start telling me what you're doing, but I want to make sure situation is clear)
DESTROYERBILL: why you hellp daddy why you hellp
Sandor Sunneson: On shield
Smon: I expect Chris is mapping. Had a group recently they were very bewildered when none had been mapping & I wouldn't just tell them exactly where they were.
DESTROYERBILL:
Sandor Sunneson: I am just home, so not quite ready yet.
chris107: Both my characters, for the moment, have their weapons in one hand and their shields at the ready. Ursa, now that Ajax has illuminated our path uses his keen dwarven senses to watch out for anomolies in the stone.

DESTROYERBILL: my emojies are a hint
Smon: oops sorry
DESTROYERBILL: elder one dammit daddy
chris107: Oops
chris107: did you get my instructions, Simon?
Smon: Do you continue down the steps? You could squeeze into the stream downstream to your left, except Ulfe.
Smon: Got this >>Both my characters, for the moment, have their weapons in one hand and their shields at the ready. Ursa, now that Ajax has illuminated our path uses his keen dwarven senses to watch out for anomolies in the stone.<<
chris107: Ursa will step to the front and cautiosly, using his dwarf skills inspect each step before pushing on.
chris107: That's the one, thanks.

DESTROYERBILL: stop hellping dady
Smon: OK, the steps continue on downwards, about 10' wide.
6:55pm 2017-7-12 Sandor Sunneson Has entered the room
chris107: He stops and examines the crack.
chris107: the tunnel where the rill leaves the steps.
6:56pm 2017-7-12 Sandor Sunneson Has exited the room
6:56pm 2017-7-12 sandor sunneson Has entered the room
chris107: wb Fergus
Smon: The water is flowing quickly down the rill. The crack is wide enough you could squueze in.
chris107: No thank you.
Smon: Your feet would be in water.
DESTROYERBILL: just stop helping them daddy your making harder for me
chris107: He just wants to inspect it.
chris107: One DM would be nice
Smon: About 1' of water, 4-5' of air, 2-3' wide.
DESTROYERBILL: im mm
Smon: Looks like it bends to the right/east, sloping down steeply.
DESTROYERBILL: monster master he is dungeon master nowere in name saying monster huh
chris107: Ursa get on one knee, wrapping his hand in bear skin he puts it into the illuminated water.
chris107: Moving loose stones and seeing if there is anything lurking within.
Smon: Make a WIS+Prof check Ursa
chris107: If this prooves safe he will step into the water and have a listen then a look into the crack.
chris107 rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 10, (+6) = 16
Smon: Ursa detects faint Stirge droning coming from the crack.
Smon: It sounds like a LOT of stirges, a nest most likely.
sandor sunneson: good rolling Chris, #setthetone
DESTROYERBILL:
sandor sunneson: fireball?
chris107: He silently steps back, whispering "Ajax, time for your cone of cold maybe?"
sandor sunneson: Ajax nods and cone of colds into the crack
chris107: The two Barbariansknow nothing of magic.
chris107: "Hang on!"
Smon: The rill bends right.
chris107: "Too late!"
Smon: Ajax make a DC 10 raw INT check.
chris107: (OOC I was going to suggest you look first and see what spell would be best and if it would work)
chris107: (Check out what is beyond the opening!)
Smon: d20+4, need 6
sandor sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 4,
chris107:
Smon: OK Ajax casts Cone of Cold into the crack.
Smon: At least it wasn't Fireball, the backwash would have caught you...
chris107: Look before you leap
DESTROYERBILL: sad
DESTROYERBILL: sad
DESTROYERBILL: sad
Smon: The walls of the crack are now coated with frost.
Smon: The water is frozen into ice, but more water coming from behind runs over it.
sandor sunneson: I'm eating dinner and doing this, I've got myself to feed
chris107: Maybe we should hang on then?
chris107: Not fair on Fergusif not.
DESTROYERBILL: all i hear are excusis excusis excusis
Smon: I'm happy to wait 15 mins?
chris107: Yup, me too.
sandor sunneson: Ok, thanks
Smon: Fergus eat & get your PC sheets etc ready, we'll start at 8.20.
DESTROYERBILL:
DESTROYERBILL: im back
chris107: Back
sandor sunneson: hi, ready to eat
Smon: thx
Smon: Listening, Ursa still hears the stirge droning from the crack.
sandor sunneson: eaten
Smon: Ahead of you the steps wind down, bending right out of sight.
chris107: "Still lots of Stirges down there." He whispers
sandor sunneson: Ajax is feeling not comfortable about this, and wants to go back to Highhaven, he points out that all we need to do is lock the door behind us and come back here another day better prepared
chris107: He looks at the now frozen rock, can he figure out a way of collapsing it?
chris107: (Blocking off the nests)
Smon: The rock is living (wet), natural limestone with heavy quartzite mix.
DESTROYERBILL: you will never escape them
Smon: It's not collapsing short of a Rock to Mud spell.
Smon: A Wall of Stone spell or just Stone Shape could block off the crack though.
Smon: Not that Ursa likely knows that.
chris107: Hakeem. "Then, let's get back to the entrance and wait for the Amazon garrison."
sandor sunneson: Ok, lets do that
sandor sunneson: says Ajax
chris107: "Can you use your magic to seal this place off from the fortress for now, Ajax?"
Smon: Closing the crack would send the water cascading down the steps, of course.
chris107: Ursa "Is there anything down there we really need?"
Smon: The ice is already beginning to break up as water flows over it,
Smon: Ulfe: "Treasure? Demons?"
DESTROYERBILL: no stirges
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d6 and gets: 5,
Smon: wandering stirge check - lucky
sandor sunneson: The only wall spell he has is wall of fire
chris107: H "The only treasure I want is to see the skulls of the Black Sun littering the battlefield."
chris107: "And Demons? I have destroyed many."
Smon: Ulfe shrugs: "It's just caves and old dwarf stuff down there."
chris107: "Then let's block it off and go wait for the Amazons."
DESTROYERBILL: ha
chris107: Hakeem turns to leave.
DESTROYERBILL: let the girls do it were scared ha ha ha
Smon: "The old orc bitch said there was a dwarf king, made lots of orc-killing magic weapons down there... Then the Arang-Tok geezers found him & slit his gizzard."
chris107: Does Bil have a character here?
chris107: Or was that OOC?
chris107: Hakeem would not take lightly to been described in such a way.
Smon: That was OOC trash talk
Smon: Bill's Dragonborn respect Hakeem utterly.
sandor sunneson: Ajax leaves following Hakeem, he needs to rest anyway, doesn't have many HP
chris107: "If Ajax does not want to press on, then we go back. We stick together. We have a war to win."
sandor sunneson: Ajax follows Hakeem, looking to rest and recover HP
sandor sunneson: Sandor follows Ajax
Smon: GM: You turn and make your way back up the stairs. The iron door that kept the Stirges out lies on the ground, hinges broken.
chris107: Ursa shrugs, keeping an eye on Ulfe he follows too.
chris107: Ursa to Ulfe, "Can you stick that back in? Maybe prop it up with all those barrels and boxes?"
Smon: Ulfe nods: "Yerr... an' stick paddin' round it like the orcs..."
chris107: H - "If you really want to cast that fireball of yours, Ajax. We could just make one hell of a noise and get all the stirges to follow us to a place where it would kill em all?"
Smon: Ulfe props the door back up, supported by a couple barrels, and starts plugging the gaps with reams of cloth.
sandor sunneson: I was thinking as we leave here, just cast it and see what happens when we come back later
chris107: "But if not, If Ulfe will help, we should be able to stop them until the war is over."
DESTROYERBILL: not with me playing i dont get fooled hakeem
Smon: Ulfe regards his work. "It'd fall down easy if some 'un pushed it - but no stirge's gettin' his beak through there!"
Smon: OOC Bill your Stirges still have to make INT/WIS checks.
DESTROYERBILL: what about 100
chris107: Hakeem inspects the map with a warriors eye.
chris107: "How much fire are we talking about Ajax?"
Smon: GM: Ursa can roll a Stonecunning check.
Smon: INT+Profx2
chris107 rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 6, (+10) = 16
chris107: oops
sandor sunneson: It's a 150 feet radius, don't want to hurt you guy and kill myself
chris107: thought it was wis. +8 then.
Smon: fireball is 40' diameter
chris107: (That's a big difference)
sandor sunneson: sorry, that;'s the range
Smon: OK, Ursa thinks about the scorched dead orcs before the dwarf trap door in the hall (10).
chris107: H rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Smon: Looked like they were burned to death by fire coming from the spouts on either side of the door.
Smon: & that's all I'm telling.
chris107: Ursa mentions the spouts and the trapped door. Also the hinged mouth of the statue.
chris107: But Hakeem has other plans. If the wizard is interested.
sandor sunneson: how much did you see looking through the gap?
sandor sunneson: Always
Smon: Other PCs can make raw INT checks.
sandor sunneson: beyond the gap even? in terms of space
sandor sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 1,
chris107: Ursa "Nothing."
sandor sunneson: Ajax
sandor sunneson: lol
sandor sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 16,
chris107 rolls 1d20 and gets: 11,
sandor sunneson: Sandor
sandor sunneson: Ajax is going home, he's cursed in these caves
chris107: Ursa kind of already knows that flames will reach the start of the steps
chris107: but H has another idea.
Smon: Clever Sandor thinks about the Alchemist's Fire his mother in law liked to brew.
sandor sunneson: Ajax is all ears
chris107: But it won't work without Ajax. So he shrugs and follows.
Smon: (Incidentally, Bill's goblins used Alchemist's fire to incinerate her army!)
Smon: The nozzles of the dwarf trap look like alchemist's fire spouters, which means there could still be a reservoir of the stuff behind the trapped door.
chris107: H "As a kid, we'd dare each other to kick the hornets nests near our village and see who could outrun the swarm to the river."
Smon: It's extremely flammable & in theory a large supply of it could create a massive inferno.
Smon: But getting it out of the trap is another matter.
chris107: "Your ball of fire could just about fill this cave (assuming we are in the well cave?)"
chris107: "If we can get enough stuff, barrels, boxes, empty chests we could block off all but one exit.
chris107: "Or maybe leave the door to the Shaman's room open?"
Smon: You're in the well cave, having retreated from the cave w the trap at the top of the stairs (10)
chris107: "Stir up the stirge nest, like we did those old hornets?"
Smon: http://pro.bols.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/forge-of-fury-map.jpg
chris107: (Yup, got that thanks Simon)
chris107: "Are Stirges dumb?"
chris107: "We know they are hungry."
DESTROYERBILL: yes but not mine well intelgance checks
Smon: GM: The shaman's door has a key in the lock so can easily be opened.
chris107: "We need to lead them to a place they can't escape then you..." He wiggles his big fingers in a kind of magical way..
chris107: (Thanks for telling us that, Bill)
chris107: "We have a load of dead meet." He cocks a thumb towards the dead Orcs.
chris107: "If they's just dumb animals and they're hungry?"
Smon: Ulfe: "Hm, stirges like their blood warm and pumping. They seem to like the wizard best." He grins.
Smon: Ulfe: "So, anyway, I get the witch's silver. We done here? I go now?"
DESTROYERBILL: they like magical bllod
sandor sunneson: Like the thinking, place the orc bodies in a certain place, they feast and boom
Smon: Ulfe: "Oh yeah, you left a live orc tied up by the front steps. Bet the stirges'd like him!"
chris107: "Ulfe, you have proved true. You are welcome to fight with us agin the Black Sun or go where you will. But if I hear about you causing any bother in the lands here abouts. I will find you and I will kill you."
chris107: H and U have no compassion for the Orc.
Smon: Ulfe nods to Hakeem. "That's fair enough. Gimme another hundred gold now and I'll fight for you."
chris107: And are happy to see him used as Stirge bait.
chris107: H looks at Sandor who took all the gold from the treasure chests.
Smon: OOC Stirges have a mosquito proboscis. They need the heart pumping blood to feed; they don't feed on the dead.
sandor sunneson: Would you like this axe? It's worth about 100gp, nice diamonds in it
chris107: "You can have any gold that is my share, Ulfe."
Smon: OOC which axe is this?
sandor sunneson: an axe worth 100gp
chris107: (I don't know. OOC)
sandor sunneson: it's on character sheet
Smon: from where?
chris107: Let me go back to my earlier maps and treasure lists
sandor sunneson: belongs to Ajax, not sure
chris107: The magical one from the Shambling mounds?
Smon: Ulfe hasn't much use for a human-size axe.
sandor sunneson: it's a bit random to make up, an axe worth 100gp,
chris107: OOC - That's the only axe I can find.
chris107: I'll keep looking.
sandor sunneson: Sandor will pay him 100gp
Smon: Ulfe looks at the masterwork axe from Thracia, shakes his head. "Naw."
Smon: OOC found it
chris107: There was a coin pouch with 440GP from the Orc chests?
Smon: Ulfe laughs. "That's act-yerly my money you nicked, there."
sandor sunneson: Sandor has paid him 100gp
chris107: OOC - I rarely see any treasure. Sandor the Hoover turns up and it magicaly vanishes
Smon: He takes 100gp of his own coin back.
chris107: "Take my share too" says Ursa
sandor sunneson: If we beat the black sun Ulfe, there'll be more for us all
Smon: "Alright, you got me for a week!" He grins, hefting his halberd.
chris107: That's 200 back?
Smon: "Two weeks! Better and better!"
Smon: OOC I better do Ulfe his own PC sheet at this rate.
sandor sunneson: I added it to Sandor's coinage total
sandor sunneson: So now subtracted it from that
Smon: Ulfe takes 200gp if he's given that.
chris107: "Now, bring us down the Orc we tied up please. We have a plan to execute!"
Smon: He brings you back the tied up, poo-stinking orc under his brawny arm.
chris107: He can have it all for me. But my share? Yes.
Smon: Ulfe: "So, we waiting for your girlfiends?"
chris107: (OOC up until Ruggio's camp, the most money Hakeem has had is 10GP )
chris107: Hakeem. "I only thought of the plan. The wizard here is the smart one."
DESTROYERBILL: you shall all die
chris107: Good luck with that one, Bill
Smon:
chris107: "There seems to be a safe space between the secret doors?"
Smon: GM: Yes.
Smon: "Where do you want kak-pants here?"
chris107: "So, so long as we make doubly sure that the bars and sacks are in place, the only way those stirges can get out is through the door into the Shaman's room?"
Smon: yes
chris107: Fergus?
chris107: This is Ajax's gig. I don't want to steal Fergus' thunder.
sandor sunneson: ready to go
Smon: Ulfe: "Where do you want kak-pants here?"
chris107: Best tell Simon what you're doing then
sandor sunneson: Sorry flicking between map and this screen
chris107: OOC - quick pee brb
sandor sunneson: In the safe space?
sandor sunneson: When Ajax was attacked, what room was that in? 10?
Smon: Ulfe takes the tied up orc into the narrow tunnel that leads west from the shaman's room (#9)
Smon: You were at the west entrance to 10.
Smon: From 8.
Smon: GM Ajax make INT check, add Prof
Smon: (arcana check)
sandor sunneson rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 5, (+4) = 9
sandor sunneson: lol, hmm
Smon: +4=13.
Smon: INT +4 Prof +4
sandor sunneson: %=4=9
sandor sunneson: ah, ok
Smon: OK, if you fireball the orc in the narrow 5' tunnel the backwash will catch you.
sandor sunneson: If they leave the body round no 10 where he was attacked
Smon: The big hall 10 would be safe to fireball them in.
Smon: Bill is complaining vociferously at me helping you.
Smon: He thinks it's unfair on his poor stirges.
sandor sunneson: Ok, plan is to leave body in 9
chris107: Hakeem eyes the unsteady wizard and retreats back to the 8 in area 8 with Ursa to watch.
DESTROYERBILL: its a level 3 dungeon level 3
Smon: Ulfe nods and drops the squirming orc on the floor in the middle of the orc witch's room (9).
Smon: They key in the door to 10.
sandor sunneson: would the lightning bolt only impact them?
chris107: Lightning bolt?
chris107: I thought we were fi
chris107: I'll shut up.
Smon: Ajax reckons if he retreated down the secret passage to the first turn he could safely fireball the room.
sandor sunneson: It'll hit Ajax
chris107: Hakeem and Ursa retreat further still
Smon: Lightning bolt does 5x60
Smon: Bill is weeping.
DESTROYERBILL: im conplaining
Smon: sorry 5x100
sandor sunneson: Ok, he'll retreat down the secret passage and get ready to lfirebal;l
sandor sunneson: to first turn
Smon: Ulfe yawns. "So I'll just go wait at the entrance, see if any Amazn
Smon: Amazons turn up."
chris107: "Maybe make the Orc bleed first? And attract their attention?" Shouts Hakeem from a very safe distance
DESTROYERBILL: i hate you daddy stop hellping them
Smon: "Call me when you're done."
Smon: Ulfe turns to head out to the exit.
sandor sunneson: Ulfe,, make the orc bleed and then throw sopmething at the stirges nest to wake them up
Smon: The orc prisoner looks up at Ajax.
sandor sunneson: and then leave the scene
chris107: "Don't kill him!"
chris107: "Just bleed a little!"
DESTROYERBILL: ork) pls let me free i have a famliy a wife chilldren please
Smon: Ulfe looks back, shakes his head. "I can make him bleed alright, but I never saw no Stirge nest. And I don't fit down that crack. You're on your own, mate."
Smon: Ulfe lightly slashes the orc's piggy face (1 dmg).
Smon: The orc starts muffled whining about its wife & 6 little piglets.
sandor sunneson: Ajax will shout food out loud in direcrtion of the stirges and then retreat down secret passage
Smon: Having given the orc a broad shallow bleeding gash from forehead to jaw, Ulfe heads out past Hakeem & Ursa, shaking his head. "He wants you to go get the Stirges, dwarf mate" to Ursa.
Smon: Is Ajax unlocking the door to the big hall (10)?
chris107: Ursa says no. He's happy to shout from a distance .
Smon: Ulfe passes H&U and heads round to the Mountain Door.
sandor sunneson: Yes, he'll unlock the door
Smon: Ulfe grins back at Ursa.
Smon: You open the door to the great hall.
chris107: Ursa and Hakeem make sure that the rest of the exits are shut and blocked.
Smon: You can see the iron gate door Ulfe bashed down now propped up in the west doorway.
sandor sunneson: He'll shout dinner time, orc fest, and run down secret passage
chris107: Leaving only an escape rout for us via the door west of 13
Smon: Ajax heads down the secret passage.
DESTROYERBILL: stirges dont understand common
chris107: They only need to hear the noise
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
chris107: To attract their atention to smell the blod
Smon: 30 minutes passes. No stirges.
chris107: He doesn't need to teach them poetry.
sandor sunneson: Ursa will make a noise
sandor sunneson: Sorry, Ajax will make a noise,
DESTROYERBILL: not your character
chris107: Ursa sees if the understand Dwarf.
chris107: from a safe distance
sandor sunneson: typo
Smon: You can make int checks
sandor sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 10,
chris107: The noise of the water may be drowning out our shouts?
chris107: Hakeem gives up
DESTROYERBILL: dont understand you
Smon: The crack/stream was a long way down stairs and the stirge nest probably a good distance beyond.
DESTROYERBILL: ther stirges dont
Smon: You're probably far too far away.
sandor sunneson: Sandor will look if it would be safe to Lightning bolt a nest, in the hope that would attract them out and prepare to run
chris107: He opens the door from o9 - 10
chris107: He stalks down the steps
chris107: Turning and growling at his chums.
sandor sunneson: Sorry Ajax, not Sandor
chris107: "Don't fuck this up, don't burn me and don't hit me with your weapons if any are on me."
chris107: He stalks down towards the stairge nests
Smon: GM: So is Ajax going back down on his own? Or with Sandor?
chris107: NO!
Smon: Ursa & Hakeem are well back in 8.
sandor sunneson: No, not with Sandor
chris107: "STICK TO THE PLAN!"
chris107: Nope Hakeem has just given nhis actions
Smon: GM: Chris you wouldn't know about this.
chris107: I did
Smon: Your PCs are well back from where Ajax is.
chris107: I'll copy and paste for you.
Smon: sorry I mixed up
chris107: He opens the door from o9 - 10 sandor sunneson: Sandor will look if it would be safe to Lightning bolt a nest, in the hope that would attract them out and prepare to run chris107: He stalks down the steps chris107: Turning and growling at his chums. sandor sunneson: Sorry Ajax, not Sandor chris107: "Don't fuck this up, don't burn me and don't hit me with your weapons if any are on me." chris107: He stalks down towards the stairge nests Smon: GM: So is Ajax going back down on his own? Or with Sandor? chris107: NO! sandor sunneson: No, not with Sandor Smon: Ursa & Hakeem are well back in 8. chris107: "STICK TO THE PLAN!" chris107: Nope Hakeem has just given nhis actions
Smon: Hm, my problem here is Hakeem apparently wants to react to Ajax going downstairs w no indication. Realistically there'd be at least a few minutes between decisions to go downstairs.
chris107: To Ajax, "I'll lead them out. Get ready to slam the secret door when I pass back. They will hopefully get a taste for Orc when I'm gone. THEN open the door and blast them with your Fireball while they feed."
Smon: How about I roll an encounter check, on a 6 Hakeem encounters Ajax...
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
sandor sunneson: Will do
chris107: Sorry, I missed that Ajax was going down stairs whilst typing. Apologies.
Smon: GM: OK, Hakeem missed Ajax who had gone downstairs a bit earlier.
Smon: Apologies also.
chris107: Then if Ajax is not in 9 Hakeem goes back to his safe place.
chris107: He really is close to just giving up and going back to been a simple Hill Barbarian.
Smon: Ajax you head down the stairs to the crack. The water flows into the crack from the south.
Smon: You can use Light to see your way.
sandor sunneson: Ok, Ajax will head down stairs
Smon: "The stairway twists and turns a long way downward. The floor has been cut into hundreds of shallow steps, but the walls and ceiling are still natural rock. About sixty feet down, a rushing stream spills from a narrow crack to the south and crosses the stairway, disappearing into a narrow, winding tunnel to the north. The rill is only two or three feet wide."
Smon: Ajax climbs into the rill?
sandor sunneson: and getready to slam door
Smon: The ice has melted, there are a few patches of frost remaining.
Smon: Ajax thinks he can hear a faint droning from deep down the stream crack.
Smon: The water rushes down quite steeply, you'll need to brace and descend carefully.
Smon: Are you going into the crack?
sandor sunneson: He'll go into the crack, but not far enough in so he is stuck
Smon: It looks like it remains wide enough to traverse, but is very steep and slippery.
Smon: Make a DC 8 DEX+Prof check.
sandor sunneson: if I fail this, does Ajax fall?
Smon: yes, you are +6 though
DESTROYERBILL: 1 to fail
Smon: +2 DEX +4 Prof
sandor sunneson: No, he'll go back, he fell before and is having no luck in this cave, so will just go back out to safety
Smon: LOL
Smon: Ajax retreats, wet and cold.
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
Smon: Looks like Ajax-bait didn't draw any stirges... He returns to the Shaman's room.
chris107: : "Lock the doors behind you." Hakeem and Ursa go to wait for the amazons.
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 12, (+3) = 15
sandor sunneson: Ajax locks doors behind him, was going to anyway
Smon: The orc looks to have been working at his bonds.
Smon: His piggy eyes regard Ajax.
DESTROYERBILL: i just want to go to my fammaly
Smon: OOC I'm just explaining to Bill that has mere presence has traumatised my players and wasted an entire session.
Smon: "his"
sandor sunneson: Ajax walks past him and goes to the front and joins the others
chris107: I'm glad Bill has enjoyed his evening
Smon: The orc tries to explain to Ajax how he was 1 day from retirement, and he has a picture of his six lovely daughters... it mostly sounds like oink oink.
Smon: GM: As the sun sets red over the western mountains, a platoon of amazons come hiking up the trail.
chris107: Hakeem waves.
Smon: They salute Hakeem. "Your squadron reporting, Lord Hakeem SIR!" says the enthusiastic young leader.
sandor sunneson: Ajax smiles, seeing lovely cheers him up a bit
Smon: OOC I feel bad for being racist towards Orcs.
chris107: "He explains about the barricades needing shoring up. Advises they stay out of the lower section and wishes them luck.
PapersAndPaychecks: I think you were being very greenist
PapersAndPaychecks: they're a species, so it's not racist
chris107: Hi P&P
Smon: The amazons regard Ajax wide-eyed: "A Wizard! Queen Artemisia said your spell-fire burned the Orcs away!"
Smon: Invisible lurking, eh?!
Smon:
chris107: Ursa will stay with the Amazons to set traps, fight the Orcs.
PapersAndPaychecks: Crap am I invisible?
8:50pm 2017-7-12 PapersAndPaychecks Has entered the room
Smon: Now I see you.
PapersAndPaychecks: Sorry, how rude
chris107: Hakeem asks for a lift back to Thusia. He's had enough.
Smon: Now I know the mods lurk voyeuristically watching my games....
chris107: He has a son to bring up, he'll let the others fight the war.
Smon: GM: The amazond came on foot.
Smon: Artemisia needs someone to escort the children & nursing mothers to Thusia.
chris107: Then Hakeem sets off for a long walk.
Smon: Hakeem is faster alone though...
chris107: Yup
sandor sunneson: How far is the journey to Thusia?
Smon: About 80 miles.
chris107: 70-80 miles
Smon: About 5 days cross country depending on your route.
chris107: Ursa. "Maybe you can hand hold the women and children Sandor?"
sandor sunneson: Ok, you staying here Ursa then?
chris107: Ursa settles down to keep watch and set traps for the invading Orcs.
sandor sunneson: Sandor will be babysitter
chris107: "Yup."
sandor sunneson: Ajax will go back to HighHaven to get his HP back
Smon: The amazon leader looks surprised as Hakeem starts off, but nods to Ursa. "We'll be glad of your aid, friend Dwarf."
Smon: Ulfe: "And you have ME for two weeks, ladies!" He grins broadly.
DESTROYERBILL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISeCzoj6_sg
Smon: GM: So right now Hakeem is heading straight for Thusia & home, Sandor & Ajax to Highhaven?
chris107: God night all. Have fun
Smon: bye chris.
sandor sunneson: bye Chris
sandor sunneson: chat soon
8:57pm 2017-7-12 chris107 Has exited the room
sandor sunneson: yes, sounds like a plan, Sandor will help escort the children, Ajax rest at Highhaven
Smon: ok thanks
Smon: Are you ok for Saturday?
sandor sunneson: Saturday doing a Loch Ness, so will be around from 9ish
Smon: OK will start at 8.
Smon: I'm banning Bill from Monster Mastering, it's too traumatic.
Smon: ok bye now, cya Saturday.
PapersAndPaychecks: you sound scarred for life
sandor sunneson: Ciao
