XP 1500 total, Sandor RL 12

8:56am  2017-11-11 Smon Has entered the room
chris107: Morning Simon
Smon: Hello both
Sandor Sunneson: Mornign Simon
Sandor Sunneson: I found this clip, would have been better if he was scolding someone called Don or Donald and not a Chris
Sandor Sunneson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TpxEOQ0bVo
chris107: No wifi Here
Sandor Sunneson: good thinking Chris
chris107: Vids burn my data like mad
chris107: And I’m used to a scolding
Sandor Sunneson: Ok, when is that being resolved? Never knew Yorkshire was like Neolithic UK
chris107: The builders are cracking on now. After I read them the riot act. Hope to be back at home by the end of November
Sandor Sunneson: You both getting your house done up or something? That right?
Sandor Sunneson: good,
chris107: Thanks
Sandor Sunneson: So you're in a caravan in Filey then?
Sandor Sunneson: until Dec
Sandor Sunneson: or you prefer Bridlington? :_)
chris107: something like that
Smon: GM: OK so Hakeem & Sandor have been resting at Thusia for a week, Hakeem enjoying being back with his family. What do you want to do (IC & OOC)?
chris107: After you, Fergus
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will go to sword isles and go for Dagda's destiny.
Sandor Sunneson: So he needs to have a dream about that
Sandor Sunneson: And to get there, hire a taxi/ship from Sarene
chris107: @ Simon, would it be possible to introduce and send the Thief I’ve been working on with him?
Sandor Sunneson: or Sandor and Hakeem attack the goat God Oriax
Sandor Sunneson: but I'll do that with a nice shiny sword
chris107: Hakeem is planning Empire stuff
chris107: And enjoying time with his much neglected family
Smon: GM: Chatting with Hakeem, Sandor hears about the magic flaming swords at Three Sword Isle. He also learns about Oriax, his tower, and the warded magic mirror.
Smon: Chris if you have a level 8 Rogue PC drafted you could post sheet to DF thread.
chris107: Posted for yout approval
Sandor Sunneson: Oriax Tower= St Ulther's Lighthouse?
chris107: Just used standard array
Smon: GM: From what Sandor can learn from Lady Meda, the city of Soderfjord on Mystara is now ruled by Ragnar the Fat, son of Angelica, who pledged allegiance to the King of Soderfjord-Ostland.
Smon: Angelica herself was killed in a great battle when the white dragon riders of Castellan united Soderfjord and conquered Ostland.
Sandor Sunneson: OOC- and he is a PC from the Friday table group that Bill joins in with?
Smon: >>Oriax Tower= St Ulther's Lighthouse?<< yes
Smon: >>and he is a PC from the Friday table group that Bill joins in with?<< Ragnar? No.
Sandor Sunneson: meant the King of Sodersjord-Ostland
Smon: Was Solvi Hardhand, Jarl of Castellan, father of Bill's PC William (RIP). William was a great Wizard who also fell in the final battle, along with Archmage Alrethus, former deputy of the Master of the Desert Nomads, and King Hord Darkeye of Ostland.
Smon: Solvi died recently in 1029 AC and has been succeeded by his son King Sigurd Strongarm.
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor starts making plans to go to Sword Isles, he asks Hakeem about the journey there, and although he has not met her, thinks of heading first to Ahyf with the intention of asking Sarene if she would take him there
Sandor Sunneson: Ok, thanks Simon, is King Sigurd NPC ?? I'll look at getting sword first, prior to thinking about Mystara
Smon: PC looks nice Chris.
Smon: Sigurd is NPC yup. Uncle of Bravery, Bill's surviving F-19 PC.
chris107: Thanks, I really like him. Got a picture too but struggling to get it to link from the phone
Sandor Sunneson: I also updated Sandor to L11 as you decided against giving him the 750XP to boost him to L12
Sandor Sunneson: Shall I post him on DF too?
Smon: >>Smon: I may bump you to 12 when we restart. Sandor Sunneson: Happy to earn it<<
Smon: yes please
Sandor Sunneson: Not that I care, I like the protestant work ethic of having to go out and EARN the XP
chris107:
chris107: Level 9 will be huge for Maglor. If he survives
Sandor Sunneson: Not one of these types who expects everything handed on a plate....
chris107: Actually could I change Hand Crossbow to Light Crossbow before we start?
chris107: And roll his magical item?
Smon: (lol sure) Meda: "There is one worrying piece of news. The Skandik King of Ossary has taken a Black Sun Priestess, Megaera Lorvas, as his advisor. We can only hope he does not attack while our armies are west of the mountains... Currently Sarene's pirates are our only protection."
Smon: ok
Smon: Chris did you have any thoughts on introing your new PC?
chris107: Hakeem, growling. Let him try and I will burn Ossury to the ground and kill every Skandik within a hundred miles.
chris107: He very much passes as an itinerant wanderer and adventurer
Sandor Sunneson: Are there any random magic items floating around for sale? Sandor will go to markets and various places to see what's around
chris107: Probably stopping over at Thusia on the hope of joining such famous folks in a profitable adventure
Sandor Sunneson: Cheers Hakeem, I'll make sure I disguise myself that day and change my perfume Sandor says
Sandor Sunneson: Or be at 101 miles away from you and I'll be sage
chris107:
Sandor Sunneson: safe
Sandor Sunneson: Yes, sage, new perfume!!
chris107: Magic item roll
chris107 rolls 1d20 and gets: 8,
chris107: (Do you have the chart handy Simon, navigating on the phone screen is really hard
Sandor Sunneson: What do we know about this Skandik King? Is he on your list to visit Hakeem?
Smon: 8. Keoghtom’s Ointment Wondrous item, uncommon This glass jar, 3 inches in diameter, contains 1d4 + 1 doses of a thick mixture that smells faintly of aloe. The jar and its contents weigh 1/2 pound. As an action, one dose of the ointment can be swallowed or applied to the skin. The creature that receives it regains 2d8 + 2 hit points, ceases to be poisoned, and is cured of any disease.
Smon: You can have 5 doses of Keoghtom's.
chris107: Thanks
Smon: Alkazed the Usurper, King of Ossary, it's said he serves Loki before Wotan.
Smon: Devious, evil and ruthless by reputation.
Sandor Sunneson: Bloody Usurper's, they are everywhere
Smon: Ossary's fleets match those of the Overlord, it's by far the strongest realm between the CSIO and Rallu.
chris107: (He’ll have to go. And the Lorvas bitch has been on borrowed time for too long)
Sandor Sunneson: No random magic items found in the local vicinity of where Sandor is?
Smon: You're in Thusia. It's not a market for magic items; OTOH Meda can craft stuff.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 4,
Sandor Sunneson: That takes time
Smon: Nobody turns up selling stuff in the week you're there.
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will start getting ready to head to Ahyf and making preperations and will ask Ajax to accompany him
chris107: http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac70/talveshtvar/369383D7-9E63-4F74-9E8B-E96F6E223D8D_zpssrjzfdzo.jpg
Sandor Sunneson: Ajax, of course, sounds an interesting little task you have set yourself
Smon: GM: OK, Sandor & Ajax can head from Thusia on the hill road to Ahyf.
Sandor Sunneson: Why thank you Ajax, Sandor says, we shall head to Ahyf first
chris107: Does Maglor see two such famous adventurers leave?
chris107: If so he gives chase
Smon: @chris if you start your own blogspot blog you can upload pics there all you like & no linking problems.
chris107: M - Any chance I could journey with you? Safety in numbers along the road.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor and Ajax will skip along the road, Busy doing nothing.........
Sandor Sunneson: Of course, who are you elf?
chris107: @ Simon, is it easy to do?
Smon: GM: Maglor is following Sandor & Ajax along the road, he catches up with them east of Thusia.
chris107: I am Maglor. Pleased to meet you.
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will explain that he is going to a far off island to seek a magic sword, and he is more than welcome to come along (once he gets to know Maglor a bit)
Smon: /roll d20+6
chris107: Maglor seems quite excited by this. He’s quiet but amiable company
Smon rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 5, (+6) = 11
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor checks from time to time to see if there is nobody following them
chris107: @ DM with his expertise in Perception does this also count on his passive perception score?

Smon: Looks like a dozen of them.
Smon: /roll 2d6
Smon rolls 2d6 and gets: 5, 1, = 6

Smon: Yes.
Smon: Ajax suddenly flies up into the air!
chris107: Action - use minor illusion cantrip to create a simple figure of a crouched elf with a crossbow facing the bugbears. Cunning action to hide among the nearby trees
chris107: Move action to reach the trees
Smon: The bugbears, realising they've been spotted, roar and charge forward as Maglor ducks into the trees - Maglor roll a Hide stealth check

Sandor Sunneson: Ok chaps, we head onto Ahyf, we'll rest up there and take things from there, Ajax to do HD recovery HP please
Smon: You find 38 gp and a blue quartz worth 10gp on the chief.
chris107: M - I am pleased to be travelling with two such powerful folks.
Smon: 4gp total on the other two.
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor doesn't want the coinage and tells his companions to share it out between them
chris107: If we are to rest, should we get away from the burning trees first?
Sandor Sunneson: yes, of course
Smon: GM: You get 900 XP each
chris107: M - why thank you! And generous too.
Sandor Sunneson: L12 for Sandor

chris107: That’s a lot of extra HP
Sandor Sunneson: 125 HP
chris107: Yay!
Sandor Sunneson: 14 + 10x11 I think?
Sandor Sunneson: sorry 124
chris107: At AC 21 and with Rage, that’s a lot!
Sandor Sunneson: shame that if I put DEX up, AC doesn't go down with half brest plate
Smon: back
chris107: AC 21 is pretty phenomenal
Smon: yeah, full plate & shield is AC 20
Sandor Sunneson: true
Sandor Sunneson: does 5e differ between attacks from behind like 1e did ?
Sandor Sunneson: the attack from behind was always high AC in 1e,
Sandor Sunneson: and 5 rages now
chris107:
Smon: unseen attack gets advtg
chris107: Yay!
Smon: so sneaking up & back att gets advtg
chris107: Maglor likes advantage
Sandor Sunneson: more in 1e, it was if in closed battle, someone gets behind and clobbers you, AC was rubbish
Sandor Sunneson: closed i mean hand to hand
Sandor Sunneson: Ok boys, once rested, Sandor will make sure the troops are ok and they'll head onto Ayhf
Smon: There is no default rule in 5e for rear attacks but I think if totally surround foe I would give rear atts advtg.
Smon: So w 8 attackers last 3 would get advtg
Sandor Sunneson: totally
chris107: @ DM - Maglor carries two short swords in combat but will only attack with one. Only if he misses a sneak attack with one will he use his bonus action for a second attempt. Is that within the rules?
Sandor Sunneson: makes sense
Smon: yeah that is fine in melee chris
chris107: Thanks, just wanted to make sure. I appreciate he would not add stat damage bonus
chris107: (To the off hand weapon, purely as a back up plan)
Sandor Sunneson: Your 2 PCs Simon, they are so well behaved, not like some PCs, I'm sure a Cone of Cold from Don's wizard would cause the next ice age
Sandor Sunneson: After lunch, Sandor will ask if the troops are ready to head onto Ahyf, Ajax says yes
chris107: Maglor enjoys jingling his new found wealth
Smon: GM: That evening you reach the village of Sceros on the trail from Thusia through the hills to Ahyf.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
chris107: Ready when you are!
chris107: M makes good use of his Passive Perception of 18
Sandor Sunneson: Any randoms here of note or all quiet?
chris107: Keeping an eye out for strange things...
Smon: It seems very quiet.
Smon: An amazonian looking lady meets you at the gate.
chris107: Anywhere to spend our gold?
Smon: "Good evening travellers, who might you be?"
Sandor Sunneson: We are heading to Ahyf, I am Sandor Sunneson
Smon: Yes there is an Inn for the pilgrims who travel this way to the Temple Tomb of Belaras.
Sandor Sunneson: a diplomat of Lord Hakeem,
chris107: M will answer after his more important friends - I am Maglor.
Sandor Sunneson: And this is a mage,
chris107: Just seeking safety with these important folks on my travels
Sandor Sunneson: who is travelling with us too
Smon: amazon - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMt5Kh1OZ74xvR0LMTrD_ULHXZorz_EUjTmHN3yeftENI-aMQ7hjrIxY4jQ5MjU23VFnFZle5QqBE-taGmwErQhZnngewEJxKFGEch5DACNOdAEMI2sUAmTFqGkSjvCGzj5vQY_-MYtzs/s320/Athea,+Amazon+Scout.jpg
chris107: Could we find lodgings and good food at the inn?
Sandor Sunneson: You are indeed as beautiful as your Queen me Lady Sandor will say
Sandor Sunneson: And then walk into the town
Smon: "I am Athea, in service to Lord Arkonos. He has not yet returned from the wars in the west. Your fame precedes you Sandor, you are welcome to stay at my Lord's hall."
Smon: "Or there is room at the Inn if you prefer."
Sandor Sunneson: We will stay at the Hall, if that's ok with you 2?
Sandor Sunneson: The Mage shrugs, yeah, whatever
chris107: Maglor will try and quietly tag along for the free lodgings if he can. And to pick up any gossip among the important folk
Sandor Sunneson: Thank you Athea
Smon: Athea escorts you to the Lord's Hall and introduces you to Lady Pyla, wife of Lord Arkonos.
chris107: M keeps a low profile, listening a lot but saying little
Smon: Pyra sorry - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib8mttarm96TaXD00GtKAqxig30gb_PD6SIH40Zd0bMA6PjWXDp8k7rDLoH8nLm5v6VCzZPDBmc7dp4PFmMhr4s-qVXf9zzIP63IG6w2TdaVNmbufS33hKlwSb_EibbLOQuK36MNxut2g/s320/Lady+Pyra.jpg
Smon: Lady Pyra: "Be welcome! Lord Sandor you must tell me all about your battles in the West..."
Sandor Sunneson: Good evening Pyra,
Sandor Sunneson: Ajax will think they don't do mingers here
chris107:
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will tell of the deeds and the sad passing of the little Ursa
Smon: You feast with Lady Pyra, her young daughter (Pilea), Athea and the rest of the Lord's Hall.
Smon: Pyra: "The loss of Ursa is sad news, I heard of his many exploits..."
Sandor Sunneson: You will be looking forward to yor husband returning too and hopefully the stability will be for the long term now
Smon: "You and he defeated the Vampire Toads of the Charmed Grotto..."
Sandor Sunneson: That seems like such a long time ago considering what has happened recently
Sandor Sunneson: We defeted some bugbears on the way here too
Sandor Sunneson: We got the leader, so hopefully the others won't bother you for a bit
Smon: Pyra nods. "If you are travelling to Ahyf, know that it is ruled by Sarene the Pirate, who overthrew the Council. She serves Lord Shieldbiter the Dragonborn, who has just returned from the West."
chris107: (Can Maglor judge the mood of the population regarding this Hakeem fellow? Investigate maybe? Just by listening and watching)
Smon: Pyra: "Bugbears again? This is worrying news. I hope my husband returns soon."
Sandor Sunneson: Yes, I am hoping to ask her for some assistance that she takes us to the Isle of Swords, or one of her ships and crew
chris107: (And regarding the events in Ahyf?)
Smon: ok make Investigate roll Maglor
chris107 rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 15, (+4) = 19
Sandor Sunneson: there were 12 of them, we got 3 and the Leader, the others ran off
chris107: (He will be storing all this info to pass on to his Queen, in time)
Smon: They seem in awe of the great warlord Hakeem, to whom Lord Arkonos has pledged allegiance, but nervous of the situation in Ahyf.
chris107: Thanks
Smon: Pyra: "Ahyf regards us as a vassal, but we have pledged allegiance to Hakeem and do not recognise Sarene or Shieldbiter as liege."
Sandor Sunneson: I personally jhope that the peace lasts, but having been at these clan moots, you get the feeling the historical hatred amongst the clans still runs deep. Hakeem has a job on his hands
Smon: Athea: "This Shieldbiter is ambitious. His lizardmen attacked Ahyf and massacred the Councillors, cast out their Lord."
chris107: Maglor hoovers up all the gossip. Such delightful tidbits are his meat and drink.
Smon: Pyra: "We only hope Hakeem will ensure Sarene and Shielbiter cause no more trouble."
Sandor Sunneson: He will defeat whoever Hakeem, but the prejudices are still there I feel, I have no opinion on the politics as I am not from this area. But feel the squabbling will start soon enough as the major evil were defeated by Hakeem more or less along
Sandor Sunneson: alone
Smon: Athea: "I do not think he would dare attack us - but rumour from Ahyf has it he now casts his eye west, to the villages of the Cedarwade river."
chris107: Interesting....
Sandor Sunneson: You would be wise to make an alliance with Hakeem Athea
Smon: Pyra: "As long as Sceros is left in peace, that is what concerns us. Soon my husband and his warriors will return from the war."
Sandor Sunneson: If you don't mess him about, he won't mess you about.
chris107: (They already have  )
Smon: Athea gives Sandor a puzzled look.
Sandor Sunneson: He's straight down the line and easy to deal with, very black and white
Smon: Pyra: "Of course."
chris107: M speculates quietly to S & A
Sandor Sunneson: The problem being the sectarianism and traditional hatred between the clans won't help, if they attack each other so be it. Last thing I would recommend is attack Hakeem or what is his. He's far too powerful a warrior, he beat Kainos and that shows his strength
chris107: Will we be safe in Ayhf with all this turmoil? Perhaps we should seek ship elsewhere?
Smon: Pyra: "I don't know... Many merchants dock at Ahyf."
Smon: Athea: "If it were me, I would prefer a merchant to Sarene's pirates."
chris107: Then perhaps we should go incognito?
chris107: Slip quietly aboard a merchantmen heading south?
Sandor Sunneson: true
Sandor Sunneson: and how do we get to the Isles then?
Smon: GM: You rest overnight at the Hall.
Sandor Sunneson: ah sorry, silly me, on merchant ship,
chris107: Maglor thinks but does not mention about supping with the devil..
Sandor Sunneson: like Sandro
Sandor Sunneson: who entered the devil and left to tell the tale
chris107: Like Sarene...
Smon: The next day 25/5 you ready to leave Sceros.
Sandor Sunneson: Is she CE or NE?
chris107: Maglor has no desire to see the inside of her dungeons
Sandor Sunneson: Ok, we go in disguise then, Sandor will take the alias Johannes Johannson, Ajax will take the alias Merlin
Sandor Sunneson: Assume on Wilderlands, no Arthurian style legends in game play?
chris107: As Maglor is unknown he will travel quietly as himself.
Smon: GM: You bid farewell to Lady Pyra & Athea and leave Sceros heading downhill on the trail.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
Sandor Sunneson: Pyra, Athea, thank you for your hospitality
chris107: 6’s on fire today, Simon
Smon: Around lunchtime you are halfway to Ahyf when ahead you hear the jangle of horse harness and many marching feet.
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will turn around to look
chris107: Any cover nearby?
chris107: If so M slips off into it
Sandor Sunneson: as in directly behind us? or in the diistance?
Smon: Through the trees ahead you see several armoured horsemen at the head of a column of thirty or so footsoldiers; Maglor takes cover in the trees.
Sandor Sunneson: directly in fron
Smon: They're about 250' away
Smon: on the road ahead
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will take cover too
Sandor Sunneson: and Ajax
Smon: ok roll stealth checks w advtg
Sandor Sunneson: does he recognise their insignias?
Sandor Sunneson: Ajax
chris107 Rolls 1d20+11x2 and gets:
14 (+11) = 25
1 (+11) = 12
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 1,
Sandor Sunneson: lol
Smon: The leader looks vaguely familiar. As they draw closer he spots Sandor in the bushes and calls out. "Sandor Sunneson!"
chris107: He has advantage
Sandor Sunneson: two of the crew bump into each other when making their escappe to the bushes
chris107: Maybe a 20 now?
Smon: Sandor recognises Lord Arkonos of Sceros https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizRGQIh3OHz1dtL6PtamFMuA0c0kH7eTJMHWRuQK45VR_gbjVDOgYHHIqk2NVBO5jjD_CpfpHchMxyabxnRh6jsTRp2qqSzZrPmLGU_Z64XYhupdn11WhG8lV_LpZFwutvj_Y86xXLVow/s320/Lord+Arkonos.png
Smon: "Come out of there, friends!"
Smon: The weary looking warriors come to a halt.
Sandor Sunneson: Lord Arkonos, on your way home !
Smon: Arkonos dismounts. "Aye! What news of Sceros? My wife?"
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will embrace him, been a brutal few months
Smon: The old warrior slaps Sandor on the back.
Sandor Sunneson: She's fine, we were there last night,
Smon: Arkonos nods. "That is good! We had a few orcs to flush out before we could come home... Hakeem is in Thusia?"
Sandor Sunneson: We are on our way to the port,
Sandor Sunneson: there maybe some bugbears in the area too, we killed a few of them yesterday and their leader, however 8 escaped
Sandor Sunneson: and being a Dad
Smon: Arkonos nods. "Be wary in Ahyf! Sarene rules there now. There have been strange events - a Wizard was killed on the dockside by Shieldbiter's brother, the one called Drakonok - you know him, aye?"
Smon: "Bugbears.... grrr. " Arkonos grimaces.
Sandor Sunneson: yes, not seen him for ages though
Smon: "It seems monsters sprout whenever one looks away a moment!"
Sandor Sunneson: the leader is dead, the others shouldn't pose much menace
Smon: "Good, good..."
Sandor Sunneson: Indeed, I'd say a 1 in 6 chance of meeting a monster
chris107:
Smon: Arkonos: "Well we best be going, my men are eager to see their families again. Health and good fortune!"
Sandor Sunneson: thank you for the heads up, do you know of a safehouse in Ahyf we can stay in ?
Sandor Sunneson: so to stay incognito
Smon: Arkonos: "Sarene spared the Priest... but your safest bet I'd say is join the throngs at the Airshark Inn, be lost in the crowd?"
Sandor Sunneson: Ok, thank you, will do, no surprise there if he is SBs brother
Smon: GM: The soldiers of Sceros pass you by and you head on.
Smon: That evening you come down out of the hills, passing through the farmlands around Ahyf tilled by slaves.
chris107: When they are gone, Maglor quietly slips from the shadow of the trees
Sandor Sunneson: Ok chaps, Airshark Inn it will be, keep heads down, we'll use it as a place to rest so the Wizard can retrieve all his magic powers
Smon: You reach the south gate before nightfall and are waved in.
chris107: (He relies on not been well known)
Smon: No one pays you attention as you head down to the docks, thronged with ships.
chris107: We are staying here a week?
Smon: Many sailors are carousing with naked coin girls.
Sandor Sunneson: Yes, so Ajax can long rest, Sandoe will pick up tab
Smon: Entering the Airshark you find it packed, a Pit Fight is waging between a dwarf and an orc.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 4,
chris107: Cool. M will listen to the gossip. Storing it all away for later use and keeping a low profile.
Smon: You see the shaven headed pirates/soldiers of Sarene's Altanians among the crowd.
Smon: http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/brave-new-pathfinder-world/images/9/90/Innkeeper_4.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140920221551 A bald bearded innkeep oversees events.
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will say to them, keep on the look out for possible recruits, someone who blends in, see me before you approach him or her please
Sandor Sunneson: Innkeeper, good evening, how much for 1 room?
Smon: A blonde serving wench in loincloth offers you ale.
Sandor Sunneson: for a night? Us 3 if you have the space, preferably 3 rooms for 1 week
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 4,
chris107: M drinks very sparingly
Smon: "I have 2 rooms free - 5 gold each for the week, with ale and board."
chris107: Investigating each drink carfuly before consuming it
Sandor Sunneson: Thank you lady, can I get the accomodation sorted first and then that ale will be nice
Sandor Sunneson: I'll take them, Sandor will say you both happy to share?
Smon: The girl smiles and nods. Innkeep: "I'm Hognun, friends. What brings you to Ahyf?"
chris107: Fine with me
Sandor Sunneson: Ajax shrugs, yes
Smon: GM take off money
Sandor Sunneson: Hi Hongun,
Sandor Sunneson: have done
Smon: Hognun looks at Ajax: "Would you be a wizard of some kind?"
chris107: M just plays the simple traveller
Sandor Sunneson: Yes, Hohnun, I'm Merlin, still learning the trade though
chris107: Perhaps a retainer of some sort to these two?
Smon: Maglor sees a beautiful half elf serving girl look at him from across the room.
Sandor Sunneson: We fancy doing some adventurig, so thought we would start off here
Sandor Sunneson: We've heard about this place, the start of many journeys begin here at this place
chris107: He will half smile back. But keep a sly eye on her.
Smon: Hognun: "Good... I had a wizard staying here few weeks back. He was opening magic portals in your room I reckon. Can you cast some spell, make sure it stays sealed?"
Sandor Sunneson: Anyway Merlin, remember you need to lie low
Smon: Maglor sees a hairy sailor pull the half elf girl onto his lap, distracting her attentions.
Sandor Sunneson: I'll go and take a look care to show me Hiognun?
Smon: Hognun: "This is a good place to begin adventures, aye. I'll show you to your rooms."
chris107: He shrugs mentally. He has important stuff to attend to. Like staying out of Sarene’s torture chambers.
Smon: Hognun escorts you upstairs, calling to a redhead wench Beverly to follow and prepare the rooms.
Smon: Upstairs he unlocks the key and shows you in to a small room with two beds.
Smon: Ajax senses an odd vibration in the air.
Smon: Hognun: "The wizard, Joseph he called himself, stayed here for weeks. Once a week he'd buy one o me girls and bring her in here... She'd vanish!"
chris107: When the inkeep has gone M suggests setting a few precautions in the room (like James Bond with the hair across the door). Harmless stuff that will alarm us if anyone enters through door or window or uses the rooms when we are out.
chris107: In the mean time he watches quietly
Sandor Sunneson: Ajax thinks to himself, is this possibly Gate?
Smon: "One day Beverly here spied through the keyhole, saw him using an amulet, opening a kind of purple gate - that right, Bev?"
Smon: The slave woman nods. "Yes, Master Hognun."
Sandor Sunneson: Can Ajax guess what spell this is with intelligence check?
chris107: (Poor Bev who ended up in the sea?  )
Smon: Hognun: "There was a weird evil voice, then he chucked me girl through the gate! It closed and she were gone!"
Smon: (yup)
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 5,
chris107: @ DM would investigate help Ajax?
Smon: Ajax thinks it sounds like a weak Gate or Plane Shift type spell.
chris107: (Or maybe at least track down the amulet?)
chris107: (Hear what happened to it?)
Sandor Sunneson: Has the spell would you say got weaker Hognun over time?
Smon: Hognun: "Old Drakonok the Dragonborn killed Joseph before he could chuck Beverly here through the Gate. But there's still a weird air in the room, ain't there? Guests been complainin."
Sandor Sunneson: Often these spells will run out of energy
Smon: Hognun shrugs. "Dunno if it's fading."
chris107: M quietly asks what became of this amulet?
Smon: "The amulet? Uh, Sarene has it."
chris107: M - sounds like a nasty piece of work
Sandor Sunneson: Do you know of a wizard in town, I need a spell called dispel Magic which I unfort don;t have in my spell book
Sandor Sunneson: Someone like you, you must know a wizard who can cast this from the area who can be trusted Ajax says?
Smon: Hognun scratches his head. "Naw... wait a minute. Orson the Northron's ship is at the docks - he has a wizard I reckon. Old geezer, salty type."
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Sandor Sunneson: Ok, go get him, I'll wait here,
Smon: You hear jubilation from the main hall below. "Dwarf! Dwarf! Dwarf!"
Smon: Sounds like the pit fight has ended.
Smon: Hognun: "I saw Orson in the crowd tonight - big hairy guy, black/grey beard, carries a trident?"
Smon: "Buys a lot of slave girls here to ship to Rallu or the CSIO."
Sandor Sunneson: Go and see if he's in the bar?
chris107: M - I’ll unpack our stuff, sir.
Sandor Sunneson: Can Ajax guess if the portal is fading over time ?
Smon: No way to tell.
chris107: M makes himself useful around the rooms.
Smon: GM: Hognun returns to the bar while Beverly prepares your rooms with clean linen and water in the basins.
Smon: She eyes M as she works.
Sandor Sunneson: Ajax will see if he can find Orson with Hognun
Smon: Sandor & Ajax go downstairs?
chris107: M acts like a lowly servant
Sandor Sunneson: Yes,
chris107: Unpacking, brushing off the travelling dust and such
Smon: Hognun points out a black hairy giant of a man, about 50 years old, sat at a table feasting on a massive slab of beef, his sailors with him. A shapely brown skinned slave girl kneels at his feet.
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will observe the dwarf, wonder if he good potenital for an adventure
Sandor Sunneson: You know him?
Smon: At the pit the attendants have hoisted out a bloodied dwarf with horned helm, those who bet on him are cheering.
chris107: OOC Hognun is legend
Smon: Hognun: "That's Rakni the Dwarf, from down south. Volunteered for the Pit."
Smon: The dwarf collects his fight winnings from an attendant, takes a massive swig of proferred ale.
Smon: Upstairs, Beverly regards M keenly. "Got a cigarette?"
Sandor Sunneson: Ajax as Merlin will approach Orson, Orson, may I introduce myself, Hognun pointed me your way. He has a bit of a dilemma, one of the rooms has somekind of portal in it, and he asked me if I could remove it, unfort I no of no dispel magic spell in my book to remove it, would you be able to assist Hognun?
chris107: M - sorry M’am. Don’t smoke.
Smon: Orson looks up. "Cap'n Orson the Northron at your service!"
Smon: Beverly sighs. "Figures."
Smon: Orson frowns. "Krabbe, my Sea Mage, might can assist, if the pay's good."
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will approch the dwarf
Smon: "He's back on the Buxom Wench - dry land don't suit him, he says."
Smon: The dwarf eyes Sandor. "Ho there, Skandik!"
chris107: M - sounds like there was quite a performance here the other week? And as usual the nobles grabbed the loot.
Smon: A dribble of blood runs down his dark and bearded face.
Sandor Sunneson: Ho there little one, classy victory there, I'm Johannes
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will offer him a napkin to wipe it awa
Sandor Sunneson: Could I show you the portal Orson and then you could send him over when you see him?
Smon: The dwarf offers Sandor a stout handshake. "Rakni of Mazagog at yer service!"
chris107: M - bet that amulet was worth a fortune. What did it look like?
Sandor Sunneson: Ajax will call over Hognun
Sandor Sunneson: Hi Rakni, so what brought you here?
Smon: Orson looks at Ajax. Ajax calls over Hognun.
Sandor Sunneson: and where you from?
Smon: OOC hold up a mo, 3 different conversations too much
Smon: Upstairs first
chris107: Soz. ‘Mine can wait
chris107: I’m just after background in case I get chance to lift the amulet
Sandor Sunneson: He'll explain the situation to Hognun with Orson listening in
Smon: Beverly nods. "A silver goat's head on a chain. The eyes glowed when he used it."
Smon: "I think he knew I saw him - that's why he decided to take me next."
chris107: Perfect, thanks. That was all I was after
Smon: "Sarene has it now, I think."
chris107: M makes sympathetic noises.
Smon: #2 Sandor/Rakni
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor and Rakni, find out a bit more about him,
Smon: Rakni: "Came north from Mazorgog with my mates, seeking the ruins of Erdea Manor. And we found it! Bit infested though - just here raising money to pay for more warriors. Say, you fancy some dungeon delving?"
Sandor Sunneson: how he is here and what he has planned next, nothing too specific he will tell him
Smon: Rakni looks around. "Don't tell anyone I told ye! Got rivals after the place, too..."
Sandor Sunneson: We could have a bit of a deal here, I'm looking for people to help me to find a fabled sword
Sandor Sunneson: The Sword of Dagda, you know it?
Smon: /roll d20
Sandor Sunneson: I won't tell if you don't tell
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 14,
Smon: Rakni: "I know all the named swords! That one o them fire blades, right?"
Sandor Sunneson: He'll nod
Smon: "The Sages of Mazargog will be able to help you, no doubt!"
Sandor Sunneson: You help me get that, and then we'll go to Erdea Manor?
Smon: Rakni shakes his head. "I'll be headin' back to Erdea in a day or two. Need to get back before the Ogres eat my mates."
Smon: "But stop in at Mazargog and tell em Rakni sent ya!"
Sandor Sunneson: How many ogres?
Smon: ooc stopping at 12pm
Smon: He shrugs. "Plenty!"
chris107: Cool
Smon: #3 Ajax
Sandor Sunneson: fine
Smon: Hognun comes over and speaks with Orson, who looks annoyed.
Smon: Orson: "I care naught for yon portals. And as ye know, my mage Krabbe won't set foot on dry land. So I cannot help you close this Portal, if Portal it is."
Smon: #1 upstairs, Beverly looks at Maglor. "I was brought through a portal like that, you know..."
chris107: M - really? Where from?
Smon: Bev: "I don't really belong here. Oriax - Joseph's master - dragged me through with some kind of spell."
chris107: M - and could you use this one to get back? If you had the amulet maybe?
Sandor Sunneson: Well Orson, I was hoping he would maybe fly here to help, not touch the land and in exchange for payment I could give you 1 of these and your mage too (porduces 2 blue saphires worth 1000gp each)
Smon: She looks at Maglor. "The United Systems - I was medical officer on the USNC Enterprise... You wouldn't understand."
Smon: Beverly: "I... I don't know. I'm not a wizard. Maybe your wizard friend could do it?"
chris107: M nods sadly
chris107: M - I’ll ask him when he gets back.
Smon: Orson's eyes widen at the sight of the sapphires. "Give me those and I'll have my slave fetch Krabbe, like you say."
chris107: He busies himself with domestic chores for his betters
Smon: OOC want to stop now
Sandor Sunneson: Cool
Sandor Sunneson: drum role, excellent Dming Simon
chris107: Fine by me. A really enjoyable session
chris107: Nice to be playing a background role too. I like Maglor
Smon: Add another 600 XP
chris107: Nice
Smon: Yeah Maglor working well.
chris107: Does M start at minimum for 8th?
Smon: yup
chris107: Cool. I’ll make a note
Smon: GM: You are planning to have Krabbe close the Portal?
chris107: Thanks guys! Really enjoyed this morning.
Sandor Sunneson: Yes,
Smon: Are you planning to go after the amulet?
Sandor Sunneson: basically get a spell book, with Dispel Magic in it
Smon: OOC I find it a lot easier to GM in morning, wide awake
chris107: Maybe, just before we leave town. M really doesn’t want to draw attention.
Smon: ok
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor wants the sword first, but thought Ogres first possibly help the dwarf and get him on board
chris107: Happy to follow your lead, Fergus
chris107: Sandor is the Hero now!
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor wants to stick to finding sword first, he would help the dwarf defeat the ogres, but wants to know a bit more about it, e.g. how many ogres. Then to get the dwarf on board to Isle of Swords
chris107: Congrats on 12th by the way
Sandor Sunneson: ta
Sandor Sunneson: You can use Sandro tonight if you want Chris or Simon as NPC
Smon: will if necessary
chris107: I wouldn’t know how to run a Monk
chris107: Just learning Thief
Sandor Sunneson: when is next high level game possibilities?
Smon: I have Bill Monday, could do then?
Smon: Shieldbiter might show up!
Sandor Sunneson: Bill playing SB? Could Bill's links to this make him try something cheeky?
Smon: I think next week Mon Tues & Fri good, Thurs ok
chris107: I should be home by about 8 on Monday. Kyle about half nine
Smon: Can do 8pm-10pm Monday Sandor & co
chris107: Tuesday and Friday good for me too
Sandor Sunneson: More that Sandor and co are in disguise, if SB came in and shouted Sandor, how are you blah blah
chris107: Monday at 8. In the diary
Sandor Sunneson: cool, Monday 8pm fine by me too
Smon: ok, and l5 tonight 8pm for Mordred & Zagaar
Smon: bye for now
