Smon: GM: SB & Sandor return to the clearing with the wyvern & can take a short rest, spend hd
DESTROYERBILL: short with damage die
Sandor Sunneson: I'm at 85, so will take 3HD
Smon: SB spends 2 hd and is on 208/209
DESTROYERBILL: daddy worked out that my unarmed is much better then using my sword
Sandor Sunneson rolls 3d12 and gets: 9, 4, 12, = 25
chris107: A mean critical now though, Bill. 5d20+2d6+9
chris107: +14 raging!
Smon: Flying SW from Diancecht through the clear night sky lit gold by the circumstellar disk of Heaven's Belt, Maglor & Princess Crystal Moonsilver on the giant eagle (tarn) see the wyvern below in the hidden valley, east of a vine-wrapped pyramid.
chris107: Maglor points down
chris107: M- that looks like them.
Sandor Sunneson: on 119/125
Smon: Crystal brings the great eagle down to land in the clearing, a few hundred yards east of the pyramid.
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will wave
DESTROYERBILL: 2 of my rends doeas 102 damge on avrage
chris107: Not bad for a few apes
chris107: Maglor waves back
chris107: Happy to see his friend
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor jumps up to greet them
chris107: M - Thanks Princess. That was great!
Smon: Crystal - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO91p6Fr_-cZgtFAI9w8wa4DdYcrd0iYyGkf2oc4T95EDat34z4FygiYWhMjiommFd_cdv3euAZ0qJTD_CDBvPphlYvL6WUF8StZ3S2BxLoUUv5-PG61-K3pAZcKrsGuEDzexnrymUYaY/s400/da461273a1e011ec5868c8cef66ce33d.jpg
Sandor Sunneson: Purple hair, cool!
chris107: She’s a looker
Smon: Smiles back at Maglor, who has been gripping her tight round the torso.
chris107: Thinks Maglor.
chris107: Though well out of his league
Smon: Crystal disentangles from Maglor and leaps down from the eagle's back.
Smon: She bows deeply before Shieldbiter.
Smon: "Great Prince Shieldbiter of the Delmirev, may we be permitted to assist you in your quest?"
Sandor Sunneson: You found us Crystal, good to see you
DESTROYERBILL: hello princess
Smon: Crystal smiles back at Sandor, then at Shieldbiter.
Smon: "Maglor told me you had found a map to lost treasure?"
chris107: M - nice find
Smon: Crystal's gaze falls on SB's jet and gold clawed gauntlets.
Smon: "That was swift work my lord!"
DESTROYERBILL: yes it was
Smon: Crystal: "Is the amulet still to find?"
DESTROYERBILL: we did a ambush on the apes they were swiftly killed
Smon: Crystal nods, looking west through the trees to the mounds of slaughtered red apes.
Smon: OOC Are you returning to the ziggurat now?
DESTROYERBILL: i sheath my sword and shialed bearing the gauntlets
Sandor Sunneson: Yes, the poor apes, felt a bit sorry for them, they probably didn't know what was going on
chris107: Maglor looks sadly at the dead monkeys
Smon: Crystal: "We would be happy to assist - I can cast Haste, and Maglor I believe is a skilled scout."
chris107: M - I have my moments...
Sandor Sunneson: Thankfully some survived and took the females and young and escaped, so they won't die out as a species
Smon: Crystal nods.
DESTROYERBILL: are you a skilled decoy too to set up ambushes on the apes
DESTROYERBILL: to m
Sandor Sunneson: Yes, I made a deal with SB that I help him get the gauntlets and so looking forward to wearing the amulet
chris107: M - they look pretty dead to me
chris107: M - nice
Smon: Adventurers vs red apes at the ziggurat - https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5578b091e4b0a256bcfba2f7/55a677e8e4b0e88cf27e8a98/55a67840e4b0362cbc172e8b/1436973140952/versusredape.jpg
Smon: The one on the right is likely the bones you found in the nest
DESTROYERBILL: ther are sevral chunks taken out of them cooked and eaten by a hungry dragonborn name shialedbiter
chris107: Do the apes look monstrous and fierce or ‘normal’ large apes?
Smon: see pic
Smon: They are larger than normal apes (5hd instead of 3hd)
chris107: Thanks
Smon: & look very fierce even in death
Sandor Sunneson: OOC- glad they weren't giant apes lol
Smon: (giant apes 15 hd chris)
chris107: M - so do we know where to look for your amulet?
DESTROYERBILL: ha a dozen giant apes think about that
chris107: (Ouch)
chris107: 32HP each I see it now.
DESTROYERBILL: i might be able to kill one on my one but not 12 even with hellp
Sandor Sunneson: We believe it's in the Ziggurat
Smon: The ziggurat proper is an old and abused 4-step stone pyramid showing the marks of the ages squatting in the centre of the valley. There is a single entrance facing to the east seemingly cut into the top tier of the pyramid, like a single eye socket in a dead god’s skull. Each step of the Ziggurat is just over 12 feet tall, and no stairway has been added to access the opening near the top.
chris107: M - how do we get in?
chris107: M looks up. Could he climb it?
Smon: There is a vine shrounded entrance on the top level, you can climb up the side using the vines easy enough.
chris107: Acrobatics maybe?
chris107: Cool
Smon: Anyone fit can climb up, it's 36' up, 3 tiers of 12' each
Smon: You head through the trees to the pyramid, now abandoned by the red apes.
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will help others up if needed
DESTROYERBILL: ther was a chest hard to open but i got it open
DESTROYERBILL: with my fists
Smon: Sandor Maglor & the princess clamber up to the entry, SB just flaps once and alights up there.
DESTROYERBILL: it had the gautlets inside
Smon: Looking in... The entrance to the ziggurat shows the signs of the ages and of lack of care. Debris blown in during storms litters the floor. Stone stairs lead down into the pyramid proper, overlooked by a dark alcove just beyond.
DESTROYERBILL: +4 strength go beond 20 and damage die going up from d12 to d20
DESTROYERBILL: so im as strong as hakeem
chris107: A legendary item indeed, Bill
DESTROYERBILL: 24 strength baby
chris107: M offers to go take a look
DESTROYERBILL: okay
Smon: The entry is 10' x 10', the alcove is just past where the stairs descend to the left (south). The alcove is home to the skeleton of an unlucky elven adventurer likely chased into the ziggurat by the Red Apes below. Looks like he triggered a deadly spear trap that impaled him to the wall – a warning to those who would follow in his tracks. His chainmail is shredded by the iron spears, but his belt is intact along with his sword and pouch.
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor ready to assist Maglor if required
Smon: Maglor recognises the carved ornate hilt of the sword as elven make.
Smon: A rapier, it looks like.
Sandor Sunneson: Anything valuable there? Magic belt? Magic pouchh being a bag of holding perhaps?
Sandor Sunneson: At least it was quick, poor sod
Smon: Behind Maglor Crystal regards the corpse thoughtfully.
chris107: M will inspect the spear trap, making sure it is deactivated
chris107: And search for other traps around it before checking the corpse
Smon: M checks the trap, it looks like it could be manually reset but is not currently dangerous.
chris107: M to C - some one you know?
Smon: The rapier is sheathed in a rotten scabbard.
Smon: Make an investigate check INT+prof maglor
chris107 rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 19, (+4) = 23
Smon: The money pouch is of dark silk, in good condition.
Sandor Sunneson: Nice tone setting
chris107:
chris107: He tosses the loot back to his friends
Smon: Something about the spider silk pouch looks odd to Maglor - there is a darker stain at the base as if some liquid had been within.
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 13, (+6) = 19
Smon: M tosses the pouch - who to?
chris107: Who ever is behind I guess?
Smon: They all are
Smon: /roll d3
Smon rolls 1d3 and gets: 2
Smon: Sandor catches the pouch.

Smon: It is heavy with coin.

chris107 rolls 1d3 and gets: 2
Sandor Sunneson: We'll share it out at the end folks, Sandor will put it on his belt
chris107: He then tries to remove the rapier, belt and all
Smon: w/out opening it?
Smon: Maglor takes the rapier, the belt falls away as the scabbard also disintegrates.
Sandor Sunneson: Was going to open it later, but can open it now
Smon: The sword gleams in the darkness.
Smon: Elven script along the blade - "Eternal Hunter".
Sandor Sunneson: Ok, Sandor will open the pouch
chris107: M - wow!
Smon: Sandor sees 100 platinum coins within.
Sandor Sunneson: That's nice craftelfsship
chris107: He offers the enchanted blade back to his friends too
Sandor Sunneson: Whoa, not bad folks, Sndor will give each person 25pp
Smon: Maglor senses the magic power in the sword.
DESTROYERBILL: lets see what it does
Smon: OK you all take the coins.
DESTROYERBILL: maglor you atune the sword
chris107: M - should I not see what lays ahead first?
DESTROYERBILL: it elvish
DESTROYERBILL: no we need to see what the sword doeas
chris107: (Attunement takes how long?)

chris107: M - if you insist. He will wave the blade around and concentrate on it
Smon: GM: You all start to feel rather unwell...

chris107: Does the malady seem to be coming from the blade?
Smon: No sign of where it's coming from.
chris107: M - Your highness! You must rest!
Sandor Sunneson: Could it be the sword??
chris107: M tries to lay aside Eternal Hunter
Smon: Crystal: "I don't feel so good... I'm going out for some air."
Smon: 16/33
chris107: Wise
Smon: Crystal goes out into the slightly cooler night air.

chris107: M will make sure with his little flaming sword
Smon: It would have done 12d10+8 w 2 hits...
DESTROYERBILL: i stomp on the bones grinding them up
Smon: M sticks his flaming shortsword into the remains, they burn merrily.
Smon: Crystal: "A zombie!"
Sandor Sunneson: I see we are upping the game here sword wise, Sandor wonders if his current sword can be upgraded for an Extra Super Sword
chris107: M - and tied to this cursed blade I’d guess?

Smon: Mags can de-attune yup
DESTROYERBILL: lets go on
chris107: Probs best. It seems a wicked blade
DESTROYERBILL: yep its garbage
chris107: He follows the huge Dragonborn
Smon: The stairs down are as debris strewn as the landing above.
chris107: The flickering light of his flaming sword illuminating the path
Sandor Sunneson: Debris strewn with bones and stuff
Sandor Sunneson: ?
DESTROYERBILL: keep the sword in your bag it may be crap but its worth gold
DESTROYERBILL: so sell it when we get back
chris107: M - no thanks, I want nothing to do with that evil blade.
chris107: M - I would not have others suffer as we did
Sandor Sunneson: I think we leave it behind, it's brought us nothing but bad luck
DESTROYERBILL: ill carry it in my back pack then
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor being the supersticious Skandik steps back from it as it is passed in SB direction
Smon: sb puts sword in pack, it sticks out
chris107: M follows the mighty warriors. Keeping a close eye out for danger and staying close enough to protect the princess
Smon: light source?
chris107: Flaming short sword
Smon: ok
Smon: The stairs descend about 24'/2 levels, to another landing.
Smon: There is a door here in the east wall, and the stairs continue down to the west.
Smon: the door is of red stone.
DESTROYERBILL: lets check the door out
chris107: Got it, thanks
Smon: The door has a handle and appears to open towards you.
Smon: The walls are of the same red stone
Smon: There are a few dry leaves on the floor.
Sandor Sunneson: Can anything be heard beyond it?
chris107: M - you want me to check it for traps?
DESTROYERBILL: morglar check for traps
DESTROYERBILL: yes
chris107: M - a please would be nice.
Smon: feel free to roll
DESTROYERBILL: please
Sandor Sunneson: listening
chris107: He skips past the fighters and inspects the door, it’s surrounds and the landing floor and roof
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 15,
chris107: M - thank you
DESTROYERBILL: your welcome
Smon: Sandor finds no traps
chris107: @ DM - perception as a bonus action?
Smon: roll per chris
chris107 rolls 1d20+8 and gets: 9, (+8) = 17
DESTROYERBILL: percent
DESTROYERBILL: d100
Smon: It seems untrapped.
chris107: M - I see no traps lads. (M skips back up the steps to stand with the princess
chris107: (Perception I think, Bill)
Smon: Looks like you need to pull the stone handle to open the door.
DESTROYERBILL: ill open it
Smon: The door grinds slowly open as SB pulls.
Smon: Beyond your light falls on a rectangular chamber, an alcove to your left/north out of sight in shadow.
Smon: Along the walls of this room are sculptures representing the gold dragonborn arch-priest Rhissel the Morning Lord throughout the eight ages of his life – from a cherubic child to an ancient warrior priest – with some artistic license (the wings for instance?).
Sandor Sunneson: How elaborate sculptures, beautifully crafted
Smon: The very lifelike statues seem almost to be watching you, with countenance varying from innocent child to stern patriarch.
Sandor Sunneson: Are they life size?
Sandor Sunneson: yes, ha ha
Smon: Lifelike or slightly larger, the adult forms similar size to SB, nigh on 8'.
Smon: The gold scales are represented by gold paint over the sandstone.
Smon: Princess Crystal glances at SB: "You recognise him?"
DESTROYERBILL: yeah
DESTROYERBILL: thers a temple in the hills dedacated to him
Smon: /roll d20+7
Smon rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 18, (+7) = 25
DESTROYERBILL: never whent ther my self thoug
Smon: Crystal looks nervous. "I sense magic upon these statues... be wary!"
DESTROYERBILL: what kind of magic
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will step back to the others
Smon: "I think Transmutation..."
Sandor Sunneson: but on alert
Smon: Is anyone entering the room?
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 3, (+6) = 9
chris107: M - I guess that’s my job?
DESTROYERBILL: i am
chris107: M shifts to the front
Smon: The stories of Rhissel, the Morning Lord, are known across the lands, although sometimes his name changes. It is said that he fought with great mind magics against invaders from another realm, harnessing even the sun itself to strike down his enemies, and sometimes his friends. His great might was indiscriminate, and his armies were rarely safe from the devastation his magics brought to the battlefields. In time, like most who stood against the other realms, Rhissel was slain and his body and supposedly some of his great magics were entombed in his ziggurat. But in this day and age, few know of it’s location, and fewer still are willing to mount the months-long expedition to find it.
chris107: Maybe not then...
Smon: SB steps into the chamber.
chris107: M watches
Smon: With a grinding sound, the statues move! They turn to regard him.
Smon: Make INT+Prof check SB
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 4, (+6) = 10

Sandor Sunneson: I'm retreating away from them, I didn't take any HD recovery and will wait outside the room very scared

Sandor Sunneson: Withdraws too
DESTROYERBILL rolls 1d20+13 and gets: 16, (+13) = 29
Smon: ...slamming the great stone door shut behind him with a bang.
Smon: He follows Sandor & Crystal upstairs.
chris107: I assume all the golems are looking inwards?
Smon: Maglor you follow them? The door to the statue room is shut.
Sandor Sunneson: lol
chris107: I guess so. M was going to try and sneak into the shadowy alcove and hide but it seems the door is now closed
Smon: Maglor hears sounds of heavy stone footsteps from within.

Sandor Sunneson: That was brutal, SB you ok?
chris107: M - maybe we should have asked permission to enter?
chris107: M - speak his name or some such?
Sandor Sunneson: Would they have responded any differently?
Smon: SB goes back down the stairs. He opens his pouch and puts 500gp in front of the door.

Sandor Sunneson: A strange voice says Sure,
chris107: Flaming sword sheathed
chris107: He checks the westward steps for traps
Smon: Past the landing with the door to the statue room, the stairs descend west another 12' to a landing with a door in the west wall.

chris107: He steps carefully to avoid slippery steps
DESTROYERBILL: shieldbiter prays to the dragon gods saying "please forgive me for tresspassing on sacrid ground oh dragon gods smart, mercifull, strong and brave"
Smon: The landing at the bottom of the stairs is a mosaic of bright coloured stones that looks like a winged dragonborn in the middle of the sun blasting fire down upon dark and tentacular beasts. The mosaic is partially covered with leaves and debris blown in down the stairs from above. At the back of the alcove at the base of the stairs is another mosaic of the sun this time with four small niches set in it – two of the niches contain 1,000 gp diamonds, and two are burned and scorched.
Smon: Between the stairs and the alcove to the north is an arch in the west wall, it looks like it leads into a large chamber beyond.

Smon: "WHOOSH!!"
