Weaponmaster Balthus will take the Ralluan slave Ostis back to Selatine and (hopefully) return with more gold from Eldam Alamsor to buy out Gorok's three. Lord Vilius is hopeful that Ahyf will now commit to the Lord's Alliance and unite against the threat of Yusan - and Nerath. Hakeem Rey Malenn and Alli head into the hills towards the Temple of Belaras. Stopping at Thusia they consult with Lady Meda.

8:42am  2015-5-23 Smon Has entered the room
8:43am  2015-5-23 chris107 Has entered the room
chris107: I'm here
chris107: Had I gone?
Smon: yup
chris107: Oops
8:43am  2015-5-23 Amalric Has entered the room
Smon: Hi G!
chris107: Hi Graham
Amalric: morning S & C
Smon: OK, I screwed up again so only 3 people can fit in this room
Amalric: still half asleep here
Amalric: I noticed
chris107: Happy Aniversery
Smon: We didn't do much last night but the group rescued Sister Tamara & finished off the cultist guards, then went to Ahyf. Did you look at the blog G?
Amalric: thanks Chris!
Amalric: erm, no....I didnt
Amalric: was here at 8:15pm last night and could have played all evening as it turned out!
chris107:
Smon: Vilius: "If I might give my own news? I shall start with the bad news, then the worse news..." chris107: "Please do..." Smon: "Firstly, the Council of Elders has taken all the money Rallu sent to buy their womens' freedom, as compensation for the families of the 'murdered sailors'. At present all five remain in captivity. Smon: "Secondly, we have just heard today from Selatine. Oriax has been there..." chris107: H lets a low growl out under his breath... Smon: "...He threatened to destroy the town. In the end he was satisfied with taking Lord Hytirus Vex's sister Jana for his chariot. But he has declared that henceforth, for any of his Orcs that perish, he will select a Girl from the town for his own." chris107: "Bastard!" Spits Hakeem Smon: Briaron: "It sounds as if they got off lightly." chris107: "We are beset by evil and scum from all sides!" chris107: "I will have his head." Smon: Malenn nods in agreement, lip quivering. "Jana Vex was good to me. We must free her." chris107: "But first we must destroy the evil K'tulu and find the priest's daughter." Smon: Vilius raises a hand. "To face Oriax is suicide...." chris107: "We can do that now. Then we must go free lady Vex and deal with Oriax." Smon: Briaron: "I don't know this K'tulu. Some demon god?" Malenn nods. chris107: Hakeem seethes internaly but is learning the ways of so called civilisation. chris107: He will be crafty, like the wolf. Smon: Vilius: "...Anyway, the good news. The Temple of Thoth is willing to gift their Rallu girl back, as a token of good faith and thanks for your efforts on behalf of Ahyf. You are to call on them at your convenience. And Gorok is willing to sell his three, for the right price."
chris107: G: Currently taking the pregnent Malenn to safety
Smon: Malenn is unaware she's being "taken to safety"
chris107: hehe
chris107: If you want to run the Ayf stuff for Graham for a while now, I'm cool with that. Compiling H's brag list for Mor. Going to need a steady job now M is up the duff
Smon: chris107: "Arrrghhh! Your politics are too much for me. Malenn, come we're to bed. We'll slay these good folks demons on the morrow. We keep our word." Smon: Malenn smiles. "Is that thunder in the distance I hear?" chris107: H understands about sons and does his best to get Malenn up the duff with twins again that night Smon: Vilius: "I bid you good night, Altanian. Lord Reynard, we have much to discuss..."
Smon: At Briaron's Hall Lord Vilius asked Rey to talk with him to discuss plans, while Hakeem took Malenn to bed and got her pregnant.
Smon: We ended the session the next day with Hakeem & Malenn heading for the Temple-Tomb of Belaras up in the hills, but it would be good to rewind a bit to do Rey/Vilius now G once you are enough awake.
Amalric: well I have to take junior to her friend's house for 10am, should only be about 10-15 minutes
Smon: Let's just wait till you get back then.
Amalric: thanks, should certainly be awake by then!
Amalric: and congrats Hakeem
chris107: Thanks G
Smon:
chris107: Simon, while Graham's away can I run H's brag list for his Sword Knight application form past you?
Smon: Sure
chris107: Has slain many of the Orcs of Oriax
chris107: Defeated Sarene in single combat
Amalric: right see you shortly
chris107: Delved into ancient Thracia and recovered the golden statue of Mitra-Apollo
chris107: Single handedly layed low the brute Grastic
Smon: Also the hobgoblin knights in Dyson's Delve.
chris107: Have bonded with the sword Kalthalax, carried by Bondorr the ....
Smon: Ghouls & Zombies
chris107: redeemer?
Smon: Doubt it, Bondorr the Liberator supposedly lived 2000 years ago, Clevenus apparently forged Kalthalax 500 years ago.
chris107: And with it destroyed single handedly a demon from the past.
chris107: (I think he killed thee troll single handd too?)
Smon: Killing demons always good.
Smon: Killing troll good, like Beowulf yup!
chris107: Mmmm I was reading the history section last night and thought I read someting about demonslayer and Bondorr the Liberator. But it was late and I was a bit fresh
Smon: Currently it's a bit marginal, may depend on presentation - you can either roleplay it out (even prepping a pre-typed speech) or rely on CHA check.
chris107: I think I'd rather put my case than risk a Cha check
Smon: Hint: When pressing your case, massive bribes of loot rarely go amiss...
Smon: Beklomda Mor particularly likes massive haunches of well-braised ham.
chris107: H has pissed all his money up agin the wall or given it to Malenn for her war chest
Smon: LOL
Smon: Need to get MOAR!!
Smon: For MOR!!
chris107: Note of ham haunches made
Smon: *chomp* *chomp*
chris107: Not a bad list of stuff I thought though?
chris107: And I think Sarene is pretty respected among the Altanea?
chris107: i
Smon: It's mostly mooks & brutes though - no spitting the Evil High Priest on his own altar, or sacking an enemy village, or saving your Clan from a legendary monster.
chris107: mmmmm
Smon: Sarene is, yup.
chris107: Okay, more work to be done but it's a start
Smon: She could likely put in a good word for you! You'd better make her look good too, though.
chris107: Hehe
Smon: Your facing her with honour definitely would help your case.
chris107: And I think there's a certain Evil High Priest just waiting to be spitted on his alter?
Smon: (Usually players will cheat, friends help them out etc IME)
Smon: EHP - yep!
Smon: I dunno whether you can beat him - with Kalthalax & some luck you might have a shot.
chris107: If we don't get eaten by the blue lion first
Smon: Esp if you can keep Glevina & Thadeus along long enough...
chris107: Have you seen the new emoticon by the way?
Smon: Which one?
chris107:
Smon: LOL
chris107: Yeah made me smile when Reaps showed it to me this morning.
Smon: Generally speaking, the head of a major villain like the High Priest of K'tulu or Oriax would be the thing to seal your knighthood, along with loot.
chris107: Looking forward to seeing how Rey deals with the back-sliders.
Smon: There's also trouble with the Neo-Nerathi looming on the horizon...
chris107: (H opens an account at the Selatine Branch of the bank of Ghineria)
Smon: Once the dry season comes and the Bisituni Pass is clear... *eek*
chris107: Yup, H has got it in for the Nerathi. Necromancers to a man/woman.
chris107: (Mmmmm didn't Bondorr use Ghiner's (?) sword?)
Smon: Also they've practically annihilated some of the Western Altanian clans. And unleashed hordes of undead ghouls on some of the others...
Smon: >>Bondorr use Ghiner's (?) sword?)<< According to legend, yes.
chris107: They're the chaps to chop up then
chris107: I enjoy reading the brief histories
Smon: As you know from meeting Clevenus, legends are not always accurate!  They may have mixed up Clevenus with some of the big lunks he had wielding his Sword for him...
chris107: I should really make notes rather than just leaving it roaming around in my old brain.
chris107: Clevenus was cool.
chris107: Quite the nicest Lich I've ever met
Smon: I like how past PCs influenced the recent history - Varak Tigerclaw especially precipitated the Neo-Nerathi genocidal view of Altanians through the atrocity at Cormarrin Manor.
Smon: 'Executing' the women in view of the children...
chris107: And I see that Captain Lance has a place in the histories too. Hakeem will have to work harder
Smon:
chris107: Who played Varak Tigerclaw?
Smon: Clevenus - proving that not all Orichalans need their heads chopped off!
Smon: Varek - American player called Jasper in my 4e Wilderlands tabletop game.
chris107: Cool!
Smon: He took a 'robust' attitude to the Nerathi... somewhat ignoring there were moderate & extremist elements among them.
Amalric: right i'm back, busy for a couple of mins while every else goes out, but then house to myself!
chris107: H approves of 'robust' attitudes
Smon: Turned out Jasper was Jewish, right wing American Jews tend to take a dim view of villains based on Neo-Nazis I guess...
chris107:
Amalric: let me read back through what was posted here first...
Smon: The campaign theme was based on 1990s South Africa (White Wolves etc) and the 1990s ethnic wars in Yugoslavia. It could have turned out more like SA, instead it went full Bosnia...
Smon: At one point Varek was attacked by a Nerathi Paladin he had rescued from brigands earlier in the campaign. He critted twice in two attacks and killed her outright in 1 round, which is unheard of in 4e.
Smon: (She was angry with him for murdering her friends earlier)
chris107: Sounds like quite a game!
Smon: Yeah, it was pretty awesome. The best bit was when Jasper realised what he'd done, after executing the Nerathi women in the home invasion: "There are no good guys here."
chris107: I do like the factions at play.
chris107: What alignment was he?
chris107: I can see either LG or LE
Smon: It ended with the last stand at Bisgen, the Altanian horde trying to relieve the besieged town had been driven back; Varek was with the last defenders trying to hold the north bridge against a thousand ghouls until the masons behind him could collapse it...
Smon: I think he was officially Unaligned/Neutral - not LG anyway!
chris107: If you're going to go that's the way to do it!
chris107: Note to H - Go out in glory if you want to make the history books. Or live to become King!
Smon: They held off the ghouls until the bridge fell (so most of the civilians were able to flee the town) then Varek fell dying, the last thing he saw was Borritt Crowfinger the Nerathi Arch-Necromancer raising his Death Wand and shooting Varek in the head.
chris107: Prince Hakeem has a certain ring to it...
Smon: So now Varek has a kind of "I Am Legend" status among the Nerathi as this great monster and 'warning from history'.
chris107: Ah yes I remember reading about Crowfinger last night! Great name. He'll go on H's long list.
Smon: Graham you ready?
Amalric: okay, yep
Smon: GM: 15/1/4446, evening, Briaron's Manor. Lord Vilius escorts 'Lord Reynard' to a private hall.
Smon: Vilius; "So, as I was saying, the Temple of Thoth is willing to hand over their Rallu slave Ostis Tilibon, whenever you care to collect her. And Gorok is willing to sell his three - between you and me, I fancy he cares to be flattered that he is receiving such attention from the Lords."
9:29am  2015-5-23 Oculus Orbus Has entered the room
Smon: "Gorok will want a high price though, and the Council of Elders has taken all the money Weaponmaster Balthus brought with him from Selatine."
chris107: (Hi Occles  )
9:30am  2015-5-23 Oculus Orbus Has exited the room
Smon: Hi Oc - how did you penetrate the defence perimeter? I
Smon: Oh, there he goes.
chris107:
Smon: I guess the shields came up...
chris107: hope the phasers were only set to stun.
Amalric: how much cash does Rey carry in his pockets?
Smon: (If you've not been tracking it, only a few gold) Vilius: "But as you heard, Warlord Briaron will not part with his concubine, believing she is destined to bear his son."
Smon: Most of Rey's wealth appears to be held in concubines... Plus his magic dagger.
Amalric: the horror!!
Smon: I think you still have Aeschela's necklace though?
Amalric: "Knew I should have made off with those first two girls when I had the chance..."
chris107:   This is my surprised face.
Amalric: no, we sold that a while back with the matching one. oops
Smon: ok
Amalric: was thinking of getting both back for my next meeting with Aechela
Amalric: *Aeschela
Amalric: will perhaps have to try some good old honest thievery
Smon: Unless you want to give up the +1 dagger I don't think you're buying any girls back right now, then.
Amalric: how many would that get me?
Smon: OOC Another trip to Dyson's Delve might be in order - it seems to have the best loot.
Smon: >>how many would that get me?<< You're asking Vilius?
Amalric: yes, or you!
Smon: This isn't 3e or even 1e, no standard fungibility for items.
Smon: Vilius looks at the dagger: "Well, that's very nice... But I expect Gorok will be looking to charge an inflated price. I would bet on one, if I were you."
Smon: "That sword Hakeem is carrying might be worth more."
Amalric: (its too useful an item)
Amalric: "Alternatively, we could leave them where they are - at least they'll be safe from Oriax's ravages..."
chris107: (Yeah, good luck with that   )
Smon: Vilius raises an eyebrow. "Better to be ravahed on the docks by random sailors every night?"
Smon: (ravaged)
Amalric: "Fair point."
Amalric: "I need to find more gold then..."
Smon: Vilius sighs, spreading his hands. "So, yes... We have re-established good relations with the Council of Elders. They are now well on their way to joining the Alliance. But the situation remains delicate. The best thing would be to return Ostis to Selatine quickly, then get more money from the Ralluans for Gorok's three. I can instruct Weaponmaster Balthus accordingly."
Smon: Vilius: "Do you think the Ralluan Eldam Alamsor will be willing to pay more for the women?"
Amalric: "Oh I would think so. They mean a lot."
Amalric: "Although he might be a bit down, considering Jana Vex is now one of Oriax's chariot girls..."
Amalric: (best use for her, thinks Rey to himself  )
chris107: (meanie)
Smon: Vilius nods. "Eldam was courting Jana? It's fortunate you were not involved with the difficulty concerning Oriax. You will be able to return to Selatine."
Smon: "Your friends, on the other hand, I think had best avoid him."
Amalric: "Indeed, an accident of timing, but a welcome one."
Amalric: "They're best out of the way of any diplomatic relations anyway. "Hakeem Smash!" is about his level..."
Amalric:
chris107:
Smon: Vilius nods. "Then it's agreed, we have a plan. Hopefully Alamsor will send more gold, the remaining three can be purchased from Gorok. With your service at Clear Meadows, and the gold... the Council of Elders here should join our Alliance before the Dry Season. We will be ready for Yusan - and for Nerath."
Smon: Vilius sighs, pouring a drink. "All my life I have sought to defend my people - our people. The coming year will be critical to our survival. If we fail... the light of Ghinarian Civilisation may pass from this world."
Amalric: ("If I had any stomach for sailing, I'd be well shot of this place..." he thinks to himself)
Amalric: "We will do our utmost to make certain that does not happen."
Smon: OOC Hope Rey can work on his stomach, would be a shame to miss out on sea-faring stuff with Bjornalf.
Smon: Vilius nods sombrely, and bids Rey goodnight.
Amalric: Rey goes to find Alli for his night's entertainment
Smon: GM: Next morning Weaponmaster Balthus of Selatine is sent to the Temple of Thoth to collect the Rallu slave girl Ostis, and return to Selatine for more Ralluan gold. After a night of erotic massage with Alli, Rey breakfasts and readies to depart.
Smon: Bjornalf returns to Clear Meadows to reinforce the two Elves' defence of the town, Rey goes with Malenn & Hakeem up to the Temple of Belaras in the hills?
Smon: Alli has now ID'd the Rallu women so Rey could bring her along if he wishes.
Smon: (dunno if you've read the blog entry on Thusia mind you...)
Smon:
chris107:
Amalric: isn't Balthus taking her?
Amalric: or is this another one?
Smon: Balthus is collecting the noble lady/slave Ostis Tilibon from the Temple of Thoth. He doesn't need Alli, who belongs to Bjornalf.
chris107: (I notice we pass close to the Halls of Tizun Thane on our journy
Amalric: (just reading the game thread on DF - there was no chatroom I could see last night, did you just create a small one?)
Amalric: oh in that case yes I'll take her along
Amalric: (misread your sentence)
Smon: (Tizun Thane - yes, Tizun is dead, his brother Diker is lord now)
Smon: (7 years ago in-game)
Smon: Chatroom - it's weird, if you make a SECOND chatroom it appears in the middle of the listings! Easy to miss.
Smon: 16/1/4446 It's a fine sunny day as a slightly late-starting Rey & Alli catch up with Hakeem & Rey on their way up into the hills.
Amalric: oh, I didn't look there, but sure I looked through all the rooms
Amalric: specifically look there, but I always scan the list
Amalric: lots of Reys there, not sure even he gets around that much
Smon: Skirting the village of Sceros at lunchtime, you make good time on horseback and towards sunset you see the small village of Thusia ahead. (yep, meant Malenn o/c)
chris107: Hakeem reminds Rey of the need for discretion regardin Malenn's condition.
Smon: Malenn: "This looks a good place to stop for the night?"
Smon: Demonslayer seems now totally quiescent.
chris107: "Yes, we can head on to the temple in the morning."
Smon: Approaching the village gate, you're greeted by a buxom auburn-haired Amazon with loincloth and sword. "Ho there, friends!" she calls out. "I am Weaponmistress Damne. Who might you be?"
Smon: Damne - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixBvZr2r3KH0LDHW-FMRZGDzHHi98qERqUuy6OWK31ey387vOBs3zs_nKIKouZsS6pgByV612O1s4NdAlEiR-gfCq-jge3N9SuSE8kVHdRVeiG65ESEd1gwMFKt9glfdftgfn1nJQ32v0/s320/amazon.jpg
chris107: "This is Malenn, paladin of Mitra. This chap is Rey and I am Hakeem."
Smon: Alli: "An Amazon!" she looks, wide-eyed at the statuesque cloaked figure.
Smon: Damne nods. "Welcome." She looks evenly at Alli. "And you ...?"
chris107: "We are travellers on the road to the temple of Beleras.
Smon: Alli: "I am Alli, a..."
chris107: (Oops hadn't noticed we had Ali with us!)
Smon: anyone care to interrupt?
Amalric: "A Lady of Selatine. I am Lord Reynard."
chris107: "Ali is with him......."
Smon: Alli: "....A Lady?"
chris107: (Smooth Graham, very smooth  )
Smon: Damne smiles slightly. "You are welcome. But know that there is no slavery here. Should a slave pass our gates, she - or he - is as Free as the Lady Mega herself."
Amalric: "Of course, I am sure we are all aware of that. Slavery? Perish the thought..."
Smon: Alli nods: "Wow... err, I mean, that's very interesting. But no slaves here!" she smiles brightly at Damne.
chris107: Hakeem smiles braodly. "A fine thing indeed my lady!"
chris107: "Shall we 'lord' Reynard?"
chris107:
Amalric: "Lets, if Lady Malenn and Lady Alli approve..?"
Smon: Damne smiles warmly at Hakeem. "I'm glad you think so. Lady Meda is about to give the evening service on the green. The Sun & Stars Inn is just across the green, that way."
chris107: H is interested i hearing Lady meda speak and will even leave off the grog for a while to listen.
Amalric: Rey and Alli will go see about rooms then...
Smon: GM: Damne stands back and you enter the little village. It seems very green, and arcadian even by the standards of these hills. A crowd of a few dozen is gathering on the green in the sunset light.
Smon: Rey and Alli head for the large Travellers' Inn just off the Green. A stableboy with body covered in odd white paint(?) takes the horses to the stable.
chris107: H asks M to join him is listening..
chris107: in
Smon: Inside the Inn is quite quiet, just a few patrons. No busty barmaids in view for once (for shame!!) but a very fat man behind the bar welcomes them. He wears the same bodypaint as the stablehand.
Smon: On the green, Malenn nods to Hakeem. "It should be interesting..."
Amalric: "Good evening, sir! Some food and drink if you please, and perhaps you have some rooms for the night?"
Smon: There is a smatter of applause as a woman approaches from the Lord's Hall, flanked by two Amazon Guards. She is dressed in fine silks, odd tattoos on her body, her complexion showing the green tint of far Viridistan. There is an aura of peace and tranquility about her.
Smon: The fat innkeeper nods happily to Rey. "Certainly Sir! I am Davos Brightbones. How many rooms?"
Smon: Alli: "*eek!* A skeleton!"
Smon: A bony skeleton has just emerged from the kitchen behind Davos! "Soup's up." it says, in the voice of a middle-aged woman.
Smon: Davos nods. "My thanks, wife." There seems to be something wrong with his eyes, little more than black pits... he turns to Alli. "You've never met Ghuls before?!"
Smon: Davos rubs a little of the white paint off his forearm, revealing nothing beneath!
Amalric: "I'm afraid not, but she will get used to it."
Smon: Davos: "Our flesh is transparent to the bone, see? But we're alive, just like you."
Amalric: says Rey, a little unsure himself
Smon: Alli gulps, taking a half step back, but nods uncertainly.
Smon: On the Green, Lady Meda steps up onto the flat top of a large cut off tree stump, and begins to speak.
Smon: Meda: "Welcome friends, welcome travellers. Blessed be you all in the sight of Mycr..."
Smon: The crowd look up at her, many seeming enraptured.
Smon: "Today I will speak of the Parable of the Five Thousand Fishes, how the Lord brings us Plenty for those who have Faith... But first I must welcome those whose hearts know much pain. Welcome, Malenn."
Smon: Malenn looks surprised. "How... how did?"
chris107:
Smon: Meda smiles back: "Did not Damne hear your name at the Gate?"
Smon: Malenn looks unconvinced.
Smon: Meda: "We will speak later - with you too, Hakeem. Your burden is heavy, also. Now..."
Amalric: (she did)
chris107: Hakeem nods. A bit taken aback.
chris107: "Of course Lady Meda."
Smon: She turns back to the crowd and begins to tell a story of Mycr, of a hungry crowd of followers, of the miraculous provisioning from a few scraps brought with them.
chris107: (Watch out Rey, Lady Meda see's staight into your heart!  )
Smon: Meda: "Was this magic? Did Mycr conjure the loaves and fishes? Perhaps... but because His followers shared their wealth, all had enough to eat that day. So it is... When you have a wealth of joy, or food, or comfort, seek to do good for others. Your own store will not be depleted - rather, you will find yourself richer than before!"
chris107: H enjoys the story but doesn't understand why Mycr didn't just go hunt down more food instead of fiddling with scaps..
Smon: Malenn nods, looking impressed.
Smon: In the Inn, is Rey ordering two rooms with bed & board?
Amalric: yes
Smon: Davos sends the 'skeleton' up to prepare two rooms. "That will be 2 gold, including care of your horses, wine, evening meal and breakfast."
Smon: brb food break
chris107: (H has only 5GP to his name but will settle up with Rey when we get to the inn)
chris107: good idea. Bit peckish here too.
chris107: back
chris107: so G we both need to make some quick $
chris107: We're not far from Thracia and the Delve here (though I don't think H will be welcomed in selatine for a whiule)
chris107: (At least not without Janna Vex and the heads of Oriax and Joseph.)
Smon: back, sorry for delay
Smon: father in law leaving soon
chris107: No problem, all fed up on Chicken soup I made yesterday
Smon: GM: Rey & 'Lady' Alli are dining on Davos' best chicken soup when the sermon finishes & Hakeem and Malenn come in.
Smon: Several other congregants also come in for an evening meal, the place is soon busy.
Smon: Several 'skeletons' move around deftly amidst the crowd with platters of soup and crusty bread, ale and wine.
Smon: Alli eats daintily, watching the Ghuls. "What a very strange place..."
chris107: H pays R for the nights stay. Char sheet should now read 4GP
Smon: Davos comes over to your table, smiling a little unnervingly. "Is everything good? The wine is Tulan! Let me know when you want your baths drawn, it will take ten minutes."
chris107: H gives M a lacivious look at the mention of bath time.
Amalric: "In about twenty minutes, I think, thankyou."
Amalric: (and yes Chris, definitely need the £  )
Smon: Malenn smiles back at Hakeem with equal keenness. Davos nods to Rey: "Excellent! Excellent!" You are finishing your meal when the Amazon weaponmistress Damne comes into the Inn
chris107: H asks her to join us (for drinks not a bath)
Smon: Damne approaches your table, remains standing, speaks to all four. "Lady Meda invites you to meet with her, if you are amenable."
chris107: "By all means."
Smon: Malenn looks slightly uncertain, but nods. Alli looks to Rey. "Shall we?"
chris107: "Perhaps you could give us a few minutes to bath first. Our road has been long..."
Smon: Damne nods. "Then she will see you in one hour."
Smon: Damne turns and leaves without further ado.
chris107: "Landlord! Hurry with that bath!"
Smon: "Coming right up!"
chris107: H leads M off for bath time fun and games, returning ready to meet the mighty lady.
Smon: Ten minutes later, Davos returns. "Your baths are ready..." He escorts you, to your surprise, not upstairs but to a white-panelled lower floor bathchamber, a bath in each corner, two opposite ones now brimful of hot water. Fluffy white towels hang on rails alongside.
Smon: Davos: "Enjoy!"
Smon: Malenn looks at Rey and Alli. "Err..."
chris107: (We'll keep it below the rim to save their blushes!"
chris107: And under lots of bubbles...
Smon: Alli smiles back brightly. "You must be very sore from all your fighting Milady - when you've bathed I can give you a nice massage! You too master Hakeem!"
Smon: Hakeem takes Malenn to one bath, Rey and Alli the other...
chris107: "Erm we have a meeting to get to thanks Ali..."
Smon: Alli nods to Hakeem "As you wish Sir!", Malenn smiling.
Amalric: turn away now...
Smon: An hour's bubble & squeak later...
Smon: Four newly towelled and clean bathers assemble.
chris107: H even brushes his much abused wolfskin cloak.
chris107: And polishes the Demonslayer.
Smon: Damne is waiting at the Inn doors to escort the four of you to Lady Meda's modest though comfortable Hall.
Smon: Inside Meda and her retinue - Amazon, Ghinoran, a few Nerathi and even some Antillian - have just finished their evening meal, and are clearing their own plates, no servants to be seen.
Smon: At the head of the long table, Meda stands to greet you, smiling. "Welcome Hakeem, Malenn, Rey, Alli. Please, come sit with me."
Smon: She gestures to spots by her at the head of the table.
chris107: "A pleasure Lady meda."
Amalric: Rey smiles and nods
Smon: Damne escorts you through the bustle, waits while you sit, then herself pours you all some red wine.
chris107: (Not for Malenn please  )
Smon: Meda: "Thanks, Damne. Please sit and have some wine yourself. It's been a long day for you."
Smon: (LOL)
Amalric: (wow Chris you'll be keeping her off the ciggies next!  )
Smon: (I don't think the US Surgeon General has made it to Ghinaria yet)
chris107: (haha  )
Smon: (my wife had Bill here just before they went from 'drink in moderation' to NO ALCOHOL EVER YOU'LL RUIN THE BABY"
Smon: GM: Is Hakeem stopping Malenn from drinking?
chris107: He would not dare!
Smon: ok, she 'drinks in moderation' then
chris107: H know's nothing of this US Surgeon Soldier. It was just a throw away ooc line
Smon: Damne nods to Lady Meda, pours herself a drink, and sits beside you.
Smon: Meda: "You are travelling to the Tomb of Belaras?" Malenn nods.
Smon: Meda: "I know a little of your quest... Especially you, Malenn. Mycr is watching you."
Smon: Malenn looks uncomfortable.
Smon: Meda sips her wine. "Rey, Hakeem, tell me of Clear Meadows, and your quest."
chris107: H puts a comforting arm around her.
chris107: OOC - you want to Graham?
Amalric: (mouth full of roll!)
chris107: Okay H speaks
Amalric: "Clear Meadows was overrun by Cultists"
chris107: Low and slowly he tells of their travels to Ahyf.
Smon: Lady Meda - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOvLwrIuMYfc9J8jss4gQlJyPnUEsargovcpMkOMUDkYMtzRALN6Z-eLDRPjofnZ-NZT0aTQv4s7bjbfvZNBWvh8Zd8ONEE2vtWwZafiS7GBDbaAc8QY84rmvjHpKVzs8N8TzmuSgV_ws/s320/return_of_nathan_brazil.jpg
chris107: Ah okay, go ahead G
chris107: (Rey should probably try looking her in the eyes as he speaks for a change  )
Smon:
chris107: H will leave it to the natural orator 'lord' Reynard.
chris107: Only filling in the blanks where the horrid monsters were there.
chris107: and he was 'busy' with Tamara
Smon:
Amalric: "They were kidnapping young women!"
chris107: (ooc pot-kettle)
Amalric: "And taking them to some horrid monster below ground, where...well, let me say they abused them most horribly."
Amalric: (again, pot, kettle  )
chris107:
Smon: Lady Meda nods. "Not all of the Cultists are from our World or Time. The Caves there interlink across many worlds. The creature they worship has many names across many worlds... but all know it as Evil."
Amalric: "My friends and I located their lair, slew the cultists, rescued the maidens. The entire village appears to have been taken in by the cult."
Smon: Meda nods, listening attentively.
Amalric: (is that it? have I missed stuff?)
Smon: "And so now Hakeem bears the Demonslayer. A weapon of Evil, forged to fight Evil."
chris107:
chris107: "Kalthalax hates demons as much as I do m'lady."
Smon: Meda turns to Hakeem. "They say the Demon Cysts were fired from ANU, the Invisible Moon. A place of Evil."
Amalric: "Rey tries not to choke on his wine
Smon: "Clevenus forged the blade of iron from one of the Cysts - Markab iron."
chris107: Hakeem sticks up for Clevenus and Kalthalax. Both of whom have been quite charming an anti-evil. Though inside a doubt gnaws.
Smon: Meda looks at the sword at Hakeem's baldric. "Yes, it is keen to slay demons... But its final nature cannot be denied. If you bear it too long, you will become as the thing you slew in the caves. A feral, snarling, ravenous beast, seeking only to ravage and destroy."
chris107: "I have sworn to return the blade to Clevenus once the K'tulu cult is destroyed and Oriax's head is on a stick. His slave taking evil at an end."
Amalric: "You say that like it'll make a change..."
chris107:
Smon: Meda sips more wine. "The sword's personality is a template overlaid by the Orichalan Archmage Clevenus on the demonic nature within..." She looks to Rey, smiles slightly. "Hakeem strikes me as an honourable man, albeit a fierce Slayer."
chris107:
chris107: (This woman is wise indeed Graham  )
Smon: Meda: "Hakeem, you must do as you have sworn, and all shall be well. But beware the High Priest, Selvah. He has his own blade..."
chris107: (But I wouldn't be surprised if Rey rolled another natural 20 and....)
Amalric: (notice she didn't say, 'honourable man...like yourself:  )
chris107: "Will I find this Selvah through the magical circle?"
chris107: (As I said, she is wise...)
Smon: Meda: "Yes. I believe so. I hope the Demonslayer can protect you."
chris107: He describes the magical teleport circle that the blue lion came through after os threw a mace into it.
chris107: "Can you tell us if our friend Os lives?"
chris107: "And how best to defeat the azure beast?"
Smon: Meda sighs sadly. "The Azure Lion Who Talks Like A Man and Dominates Lesser Minds. I know a little of the horrors that await you. Selvah, who wields the corrupted Holy Avenger of Sir Galilee, last of Irig's knights. And beyond him..."
Amalric: (pile it on, why dont you...)
Smon: "....The wizard Zentar. And most fell of all, the demon lord, Vord... I fear Vord is too strong for any mortal to face. But perhaps defeating Seelah would be enough to save the town, at least for awhile."
chris107: (Yeah sounds plenty enough for us... OOC)
Smon: Damne: "Milady, this place sounds but two steps from Hell!"
chris107: Hakeem's face hardens. he will do his best. It's just in his nature.
Smon: Meda: "I cannot tell if your friend Osgar lives. If he does... it might be better were he dead."
chris107: "M'lady, I have so many promises to keep, so many vows to fulfil. But I am a simple man and know not which to do first for the best. Can I ask your advise?"
Amalric: "Sunny day, wishing my clouds away..." sings Rey, absent-mindedly
Smon: "The Azure Lion - it can Dominate but one mind at a time. Its hide is like steel - but I believe it can be slain."
chris107: (And adds Os' death to his ever lengthening list of things to take vengence for.)
Smon: Meda nods to Hakeem. "I will gladly give such advice as I can."
chris107: (I was waiting for the advise on what to do first?)
chris107: (Were you waiting for me to ask?)
Smon: Malenn: "I... have a question, but not of the Clear Meadows caves. Damne, I see you are a Paladin of Athena, as I serve Mitra." Damne nods. Malenn: "But... Lady Meda, your god says he is the One God?"
Smon: Hakeem sits waiting to be told what to do.
chris107: he's a simple fellow.
chris107: (though I was toying with the idea of asking Meda to bless the child, just didn't know how that would work with Malenns connection with Mitra)
Smon: Meda nods. "Mycr is the One God. The entities you call the gods are either Demons of Chaos, or they are thought-manifestations upon the Crystalline Matrix of the Gaea, the World-Spirit. To the extent they are Good, it is because Mankind is Good, and has infused the Matrix with our own thoughts and belief. In this way Mitra is a Shadow, a Shadow of the Light of Mycr, the True God."
chris107:
Smon: Damne turns to Malenn, smiling. "I have asked the Lady Meda why she is so sure that her own 'God' is not just a 'thought-manifestation upon the Crystalline Matrix of the Gaea', also. She just smiles."
chris107: H's tiny brain struggles after the bit about demons.
Amalric: Rey tries to look interested, or at least not look sceptical
Smon: Meda smiles at Damne.
Smon: Meda turns back to Hakeem. "In what matter do you seek advice?"
chris107: "Erm...who should I chop to bits first?"
Amalric: LOL!
chris107: "I mean which evil is greatest..."
chris107: He finishes lamely
Smon: GM - you told Meda all about the cultists rolling the 'egg' through the tapestry/gate?
chris107: Yup the whole lot.
Smon: Meda: "Five hundred years ago, the first demon-eggs hatched a week after the Starfall... but the last did not hatch until almost a week after the town had fallen. If the Cultists were gathering those eggs from the past, I imagine you may have a little under a week left before they hatch."
Smon: "...However, temporal rifts are not my area of expertise."
chris107: That is good for H. He's not good at long term thinking. But hacking things to bits on a schedule is just his cup of tea. He brightens noticably.
chris107: "Rey we have work to do!"
chris107: "Wicked Demons and Priests to chop into tiny bits!"
Smon: Meda sips more wine, nearly done now. "I imagine Seelah has prepared a ritual to gain control of the Markab demons - otherwise they would tear him limb from limb, just like the people of Verdant Meadows."
Smon: "Prevent the ritual - destroy Seelah - find some way to destroy the Eggs, or bury them where the demons cannot escape..."
chris107: A huge smile fills Hakeems face, he now knows what needs to be done.
chris107: "Malenn we shalll go to Beleras tomorrow to have our child blessed then go put these demons to the sword!"
chris107: "What say you Rey? I know Demons and Monsters hold no fear for you? The thought of a horrid death, your corpse ripped apart by cosmic evil will only stengthen your resolve."
Smon: Malenn nods firmly to Hakeem, chest out and hand on sword. Meda: "Oriax's evil seems of a more mundane nature, if not lesser. He is very powerful, but arrogant - none have challenged him for too long. If you defeat him, if his captives cannot be returned home we can find a place for them here, in Thusia."
Smon: OOC guess I'l need to stop in a moment - do you want to do more tonight?
chris107: I'm game.
Smon: >>The thought of a horrid death, your corpse ripped apart by cosmic evil will only stengthen your resolve."<< LOL
chris107: As I couldn't even get the 100 yards to the pub with my gouty foot
Smon: OK, say after dinner tonight, 7.30pm. I can do a couple hours, not past 10pm - need to prep for tabletop too.
Smon: I'll post log.
