chris107: Hi Kjato
chris107: Hi Simon
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello!
Smon: Hi guys
Smon: Searching the chambers...
chris107: Yup
Smon: The chamber the goblins came out of has double doors set in the west/right-hand wall, a smouldering fire pit in which metal torture implements are heating, and a trussed up live stirge lying by the pit that looks the worse for wear.
chris107: (Thanks for changing the character sheet )
chris107: Stirge....mmm..
Smon: (np) The floor is littered with the remains of broken bunks and slashed mattresses, to one side stands an undamaged but rotten table.
chris107: Could be useful when fattened back up.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem is hungry?
chris107: H picks up the poor bird and puts it next to the fresh bloody corpses where it can reach.
Smon: The 4 dead goblins have 40sp on them, the hobgoblin has 216gp and 15 cp.
Smon: Are you untying the stirge?
chris107: (A healthy stage could be fun to chuck into rooms and shut the door)
chris107: No
chris107: Just letting it feed
Kjato Ragfoot: If I understood it correctly, he basically pushes its beak into a wound of one of the Nerathi.
chris107: yup
Smon: OK. the stirge latches on and sucks in desultory fashion - they prefer the heart still pumping.
7:07pm 2015-10-29 Oculus Orbus Has entered the room
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
chris107: Occles
chris107: Simon and his 6's!
Oculus Orbus: Chrrrrrris!
Oculus Orbus rolls 1d6 and gets: 3,
Oculus Orbus:
Smon: The western doors of the goblin chamber are flung open! You see an armoured hobgoblin standing there, gripping a greatsword.
Smon: "GRAARRR!" he yells angrily.
chris107: H drops the storage and rages at it.
chris107: Stirge
chris107: Full HP, -2 healing dice, this is the 3rd rage and his exhaustion from his first berserk is mended by hs rest.
chris107: (I think)
Smon: roll init - Sarene is currently escorting Rey back to the ship's boat so just Thuruar & Hakeem.
Smon: ok
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 15, (+2) = 17
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 15, (+2) = 17
Smon: /roll d20+2
Smon rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1, (+2) = 3
Smon: You win
Smon: I never roll that low when it's a dragon.
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, go on!
chris107 Rolls 1d20+9x2 and gets:
12 (+9) = 21
12 (+9) = 21
chris107: (Should have skinned that dragon. Would have made great armour )
Smon: Hakeem charges the hob, hacking at it.
Smon: (yeah)
Kjato Ragfoot: (And incredibly shiny shoes!)
chris107 rolls 2d8+16 and gets: 7, 6, (+16) = 29
Smon: (but you get +5 AC in Frazetta armour)
chris107:
Smon: Hakeem wounds the hobgoblin, it still stands. Thuruar?
Kjato Ragfoot: Sacred Flame on the Hobgoblin.
Smon: dex save?
Smon: /roll d20+2
Smon rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 11, (+2) = 13
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes
Smon: fail?
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, DC 15
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 2d8 and gets: 1, 2, = 3
chris107: Yeah!
chris107:
Smon: it screams... but is still up.
chris107: A singed Hobgob
Smon: It hacks at Hakeem...
Smon: /roll d20+4x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+4x2 and gets:
13 (+4) = 17
13 (+4) = 17
chris107: AC19
Smon: good old shield
Smon: The hob turns & runs!
Smon: Hakeem gets a free attack
chris107: Withadvantage?
Smon: no
chris107 Rolls 1d20+9x2 and gets:
7 (+9) = 16
2 (+9) = 11
Smon: 1 attack - 16 - you miss
chris107: in the back?
chris107: Worth a try
Smon: The hobgoblin races off down the corridor it came out of.
chris107: H has a quick move and will chase it
chris107: Hack-hack grrr!
Smon: Hakeem runs down the dark corridor, Thuruar are you following too with your shining helm?
chris107: hope so
Kjato Ragfoot: Of course. I do not want to be surprised in this dungeon without a barbarian.
Smon: OK, in that case Hakeem has plenty of light and catches up with the hobgoblin as it approaches a left turn in the passage, an open door to the right (north).
Smon: H can attack.
chris107: once?
Smon: twice
chris107: He will do so recklessly
chris107 Rolls 1d20+9x2 and gets:
2 (+9) = 11
20 (+9) = 29
Smon: hit
chris107 Rolls 1d20+9x2 and gets:
7 (+9) = 16
8 (+9) = 17
Smon: 2 hits, ac17
chris107: vicious critical?
Smon: The dead hobgoblin goes rolling forward and smashes into the far wall where the passage turns.
Smon: it had 7 hp
chris107: brutal sorry
chris107: crit
chris107:
Smon: yeah, was a 3d8 crit
chris107: That's good news. The bad news is H has 1 rage left
Smon: Thuruar comes up to join H.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. I should learn "Speak with Dead" if I ever want to interrogate one of our enemies.
chris107: (Also I notice armour costs loads, probably worth taking as much as we can carry on exit)
chris107: Half Plate and splint spec.
Oculus Orbus: H-bomb
chris107: The Slayer Occs
Smon: (it's very bulky though). The open door to the right leads into what looks like a rubbish-strewn torture chamber.
chris107: mmmm I'm in Bath this evening and didn't bring my map from yesterday
Smon: Rusted and bent torture equipment and garbage fills the room to knee height.
Smon: You must be south of the quays here.
Smon: You went east from the quays to a big chamber where you nearly died, south to the goblin room, west from there down a tunnel.
Smon: From your current location you could go north into the torture chamber, west down the passage, or east back up the passage to the goblin room.
chris107: got you
chris107: thanks
chris107: Explore the torture chamber?
Smon: You tell me
Kjato Ragfoot: Torture chamber.
Oculus Orbus: Yes.
Oculus Orbus: Duh
chris107: Just been Mr. Polite gamer here and asking
Smon: You enter the torture chamber, the rubbish up to your knees. You hear a call from behind you - Sarene - "Boys?! You down there?"
chris107: H would be straight in
chris107: "We sure are!"
chris107: The rubbish...
chris107: How did it get this deep?
Smon: The place looks pretty picked-over, but rummaging around you find a rusty thumbscrew and a small saw.
chris107: Does it look like it's been newly dumped here?
Smon: Sarene appears in the doorway.
Smon: It looks like decades of junk dumped here.
chris107: "Bah! Nothing here."
Smon: /roll d6
Kjato Ragfoot: Must have been abandoned years ago.
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
Smon: You hear heavy footsteps behind you...
chris107: H wants to go East from the big chamber and see what was making the noise.
chris107: Is the old wizard still with us?
Smon: A figure appears in the doorway!
Smon: The wizard!
chris107: gulp
Smon: "Morning everbody!" he says affably. "Sun's up on the wharfs. Looks like a lovely day."
chris107: "Where is this Dark Odo of yours wizard?"
chris107: "Is she agin the Nerathi?"
chris107: (Like a good Albanian)
chris107: (Bloody apple spell check!)
Smon:
Smon: Can't you turn it off?
chris107: Don't know how
Smon: Amdor the wizard nods sagely.
Smon: "She lairs beyond the secret portal, in dungeons deep! Ware of her!"
chris107: (Also H searches the Hob)
Smon: He strikes a dramatic pose, arms widespread and staff raised.
chris107: "Erm... aren't you her loyal follower?"
Smon: The hobgoblin has a money pouch.
chris107:
Smon: Amdor lowers his arms: "Eh... well..."
Smon: He looks down.
Smon: "...She currently has no need of my services."
chris107: "Well are you or aren't you?"
Smon: He looks rather sheepish.
Kjato Ragfoot: You wanted to be her apprentice but she kicked you out?
chris107: mmmm
Smon: Amdor glares: "Apprentice?! I, the mighty Amdor?! By the grey of my beard, I think not!"
chris107: "Does she support the Nerathi or is she agin 'em?"
Smon: "Though she is a very remarkable woman..."
chris107: Does he look like he's likely to cast something horrid at us?
Smon: "Agin, I would think. Being Altanian like yourself."
chris107: Maybe not
Smon: He doesn't appear to be spellcasting.
chris107:
chris107: So the corridor from the big room with the noise?
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, we should check out where the Nerathi came from.
Kjato Ragfoot: They blundered in from the north door.
chris107: Okay
chris107: (OOC H will need a long rest before we blunder into too many more things)
Smon: GM: The hobgoblin had 172gp and 14cp.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. Wow.
chris107:
Smon: So nearly 400gp looted so far.
chris107: Hakeem, as a married man, has never been so rich
Kjato Ragfoot: He must have been a thrifty goblin, keeping the change despite all the gold pieces. ^^
Smon: Hakeem, Sarene, Thuruar and Amdor the Wizard head back to the goblin room, north to the large chamber with rune-tiled floor with the whistling-wind sound from the east exit.
chris107: North doors then?
Smon: From there you go through the north doors.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. What about those runes on the floor?
chris107: Have a closer look at the runes?
Smon: Thuruar inspects the runes. They look Ghinarian...
Smon: INT check.
Smon: Thuruar gets Prof (+3)
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 4, (+3) = 7
Smon: Hakeem would have Disadvantage
Kjato Ragfoot: (I am a cleric, not a warlock anymore, damit!)
chris107 Rolls 1d20x2 and gets:
3 = 3
6 = 6
chris107:
Smon: They seem archaic Ghinarian, something about Death? Most are indecipherable.
chris107: "Bah! Pictures!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Amdor, can you tell us anything about those runes?
Smon: Hakeem - they're not totally unlike similar runes you saw in Thracia, in the chapel of Thanatos.
Smon: Amdor looks down at the runes. "Oh? Oh yes, Sandlander runes... they point the way to the Lichway."
Smon: He points east, the direction of the whistling noise.
chris107: "Ha!"
Kjato Ragfoot: What are Sandlanders?
chris107: H remembers the Thanatos temple unkindly
Smon: "Sandlanders - the fellows who lived in this dungeon! Long ago."
chris107: (Did the room to the north, the one that had the Nerathi in, have any other doors?
chris107: brb
Smon: You enter the Nerathi room - a guardroom; broken bunks and shredded mattresses litter the floor
Kjato Ragfoot: East would be back to the quay?
Smon: There are two bronze levers emerging from the wall in the SW corner.
Smon: A torch burns faintly in a sconce on the north wall.
Smon: (no, quay is west of you)
Smon: There is a door ajar in the ne corner of the e wall.
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah! I forgot a door on my map!
chris107: H carfully creeps over to the open door.
Smon: (You are in the room north of the Runehall where you fought the Nerathi)
Smon: Amdor: "That's the old armoury..."
chris107: (Just about to start my supper chaps, but will type one handed and watch
Smon: Hakeem looks through the door, sees a smaller chamber, floor littered with rusting and corroded weapons, armour and shields of archaic Ghinoran design.
chris107: Any look worth while taking?
Smon: They have been piled up near the door.
chris107: Odd
chris107: why pile junk?
Kjato Ragfoot: Spring cleaning?
chris107: Does it look like they have been moved to make a space anywhere?
Smon: Amdor: "I was just searching in here when the Nerathi came up behind me. I decided to use that stuff to wedge the door shut while I prepared an incantation of abominable power..."
chris107: ah
Smon: "...Fortunately that was not required."
Smon: Amdor pokes a rotten hauberk. "Sandlander gear. Poor quality."
chris107: H has little truck with wizards
Kjato Ragfoot: I am sure a smith apprentice would welcome them for experiments.
Smon: /roll d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 19, (+4) = 23
Smon: Sarene is looking sceptically at the wizard. "The knob on your staff is wobbly."
Smon: Amdar glares at her. "I say, Madam!"
chris107: wobbly knobs
Smon: He clutches his badly-painted staff more tightly, the threadbare ends of his robe dangling.
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, I noticed that as well.
Smon: Amdar: "Now, about the Sandlanders of the Korm Basin..."
chris107: Hey we all go through hard ties.
Smon: "A fascinating folk, dour lot, ferried their dead here on funeral barges...."
Smon: "Hard times, yes, yes."
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. That whole complex used to be a giant catacombs?
Smon: "The high Priest Yezal and his guards dwelt here permanently, performing the ancient rites... Yes, catacombs! Correct!"
chris107: "erm... did they bury their dead with their treasure?"
Smon: Amdor shrugs. "Odo believes there's treasure about, yes."
Smon: "The bodies were entombed in the Lichway itself, sacred rites cast upon them..."
chris107: "Kill lots of Nerathi and get treasure!"
Smon: "...In the Crypt of Life."
Kjato Ragfoot: Do you also know why the other door is locked with a giant chain?
chris107: aren't the Nerathi great necromancers?
Smon: "But all came to an end when an earthquake struck, opening a route for lizardmen to attack."
Smon: Sarene nods. "Great Necromancers, yes."
chris107: "So there are lots of dead bodies here?"
chris107: "An army in waiting...."
Smon: Amdor: "Chain? Oh, that door with the rusted chains is fake. Except for the secret panel, of course."
Smon: Sarene nods slightly.
Kjato Ragfoot: Secret panel?
chris107: secret
Smon: Amdor: "Army? Why yes, the legends say the Sandland dead will rise again..."
chris107: you beat me to it
chris107: "That would explain why the Nerathi are eager to be here...
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. I think I understand why the Nerathi want to conquer this place: They need the corpses to march in their army.
chris107: brb need seconds
Smon: Amdor nods. "Yes, of course - at the bottom of the Flame Portal door, a panel gives access to the recess with the lever to open the Stone Gate. At the back of the recess a second secret panel opens into the inner complex. Odo is most likely in there."
Smon: Amdor looks at Thuruar, stroking his beard. "Ah! I see. Yes, that makes sense. The Sandlander dead are half-animate already, by all accounts."
Kjato Ragfoot: We need to find a way to destroy a lot of corpses quickly.
Smon: Sarene: "I've heard the Nerathi Necromancers have artifacts that can control undead - the Ring of Nemeia, demon empress of Bael Turath..."
chris107: H imagines what these jewels must be worth. A look of avarice crosses his features
chris107: Then we need to burn every corpse here.
chris107: Leave nothing for the filthy necromancers to work with.
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, the Nerathi are famous for their control over the undead.
Kjato Ragfoot: I shudder at the thought of them gaining control of this giant tomb,
Smon: Amdor: "Well the corpses are to the east, past the Crypt of Life and through the Lich Gates... No treasure there though, as far as I know."
chris107: "Let's destroy anything that will help the Nerathi. And then get all the treasure!"
Kjato Ragfoot: I agree with that sentiment.
chris107: (It's a simple life as a Barbarian )
chris107: Lead on Amdor!
Kjato Ragfoot: What did you mean about "Half-animated" by the way?
Smon: GM: You return to the Rune Hall, Amdor leads you through the wide east arch into a tunnel 20'+ wide that runs south-east a short way to a set of double doors.
Smon: "Oh, they say if the Sandland dead are disturbed, or their possessions taken, they will come to life to slay the despoilers. But Odo & co smashed a couple, I didn't see much untoward. Maybe they twitched a bit."
Oculus Orbus: Yoko Odo
Smon: "No treasure in the holes with them, though. Odo thinks it's somewhere else, maybe in the inner halls."
Smon: Amdor approaches the double doors. "Through here..."
Smon: He flings them dramatically open... "The Crypt of Life!"
chris107: Mmm H makes a mental note of this.
chris107: (Sounds to me that Odo is no more than a treasure hunter.
Smon: >>Smon: "No treasure in the holes with them, though. Odo thinks it's somewhere else, maybe in the inner halls." Smon: Amdor approaches the double doors. "Through here..." Smon: He flings them dramatically open... "The Crypt of Life!"<<
chris107: H prepares to do war upon hundreds of undead
Smon: The Crypt is a very large hexagonal chamber, 100' across with a 40' vaulted ceiling.
Smon: You are at the NW side. A 10' tall vampiric-looking statue with mouth agape and fangs bared stands at the NE side, with writing carved on the plinth.
chris107: Vampire!
Smon: It stares SW towards a stream that runs SE to NW across the SW side of the chamber. The stream is crossed by a small bridge, the end barred by lich-gates of bone.
chris107: Hakem enters boldly
chris107: sword and shield to hand
Smon: The rails are also of lashed bones, each upright topped by a human skull, solidified gobs of wax encrusted in and below them.
Kjato Ragfoot: Admar, what about that statue? It looks odd, as if guarding that entrance.
chris107: Not a nice place
Smon: The gates barring the stone bridge are 4' high.
chris107: H approaches the vampire
Smon: The gates are ajar; they also are topped with skulls.
Smon: Hakeem approaches the statue.
Smon: Amdar: "Don't worry, he's harmless..."
Kjato Ragfoot: He?
Kjato Ragfoot: Say, you have been here a little while longer haven't you?
Smon: The writing on the plinth seems to be archaic common. "The statue, I mean."
chris107: Can H prod the 'vampire' with his sword?
Smon: Amdar: "Er, yes. We arrived a while ago."
Smon: Where are you prodding it?
chris107: Where can he reach?
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. The length of a while greatly depends on ones age, don't you think so?
Smon: >>A 10' tall vampiric-looking statue with mouth agape and fangs bared stands at the NE side, with writing carved on the plinth.<<
chris107: Ah okay
Smon: You could reach into its mouth with sword tip, it is hunched over.
chris107: It was an 8 hour drive down today. Half asleep, sorry
Kjato Ragfoot: It is probably a vampire formed golem statue that is going to flail us alive.
Smon: Thuruar, you can read the writing easy enough.
chris107: He prods it in several places, including it's fanned mouth
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. What does it say?
Smon: "Bathe Sandlander and restful ease your cares, Til the Singer stills his song Then rise to claim your wares."
Smon: Amdor: "Abominable doggerel, eh?"
chris107: Bathe?
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. Who is the singer?
Smon: As Hakeem puts sword in vampire mouth the hinged tongue rotates... there's a click and a silver key rolls out, falling into his hand.
chris107: The bridge. It goes over water yes?
chris107: Ha!
Smon: The whistling wind is much louder, coming from the dark tunnel leading SW out of the room, beyond the lich bridge.
Kjato Ragfoot: I have a soft spot for doggerels in my heart.
Kjato Ragfoot: They remind me of camp fire fun when I was but a young acolyte.
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah.
Kjato Ragfoot: We should take care not to silence that wind.
Smon: The key has a number(?) on it "11"
chris107: does the statue look to have a key hole for the key
Smon: No.
chris107: ?
chris107:
chris107: The gates on the bridge?
Smon: Amdor looks impressed at Hakeem. "Hmm. Odo never thought to do that. Mind on higher matters I suppose."
chris107: A lock?
Smon: The lich-gates are ajar and look almost ready to fall off their hinges.
Smon: No lock.
chris107: mmm
chris107: Does the bridge look solid enough to bear our weight?
Kjato Ragfoot: A key does not necessarily need to be near the lock.
Smon: Yes, it's solid stone.
Smon: /roll d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 18, (+4) = 22
Smon: Sarene: "So we find the lock to this key and get the treasure, without silencing the singer?"
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Smon: All seems peaceful.
Kjato Ragfoot: That is the plan.
chris107: "Or we smash every skelington and zombie in the place and then take all their stuff!"
chris107: H is impressed by his own simple plan.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem, you forget that the sandlanders buried the dead of several generations here.
chris107: "Onwards then!"
chris107: H stomps over the bridge
Kjato Ragfoot: Smashing them all will take several lifetimes unless you have an army.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh well. Let's go after Hakeem before he breaks something that would be valuable whole.
chris107: "Mmmmm then I may need a good night's sleep before we start."
Smon: Hakeem stomps over the bridge, the others following
chris107: H is in fine form.
chris107: He sticks the little silver key somewhere safe.
Smon: You enter a broad tunnel running SW as far as you can see, it appears to intersect with another wide tunnel after maybe 80'. The walls are lined with empty alcoves above, the lower alcoves at ground level blocked with stone slabs.
chris107: (I assume I'll have to wait for light?)
Smon: Each slab bears what appears to be a name written in archaic Ghinarian.
chris107: Like stone coffins?
Smon: The first two alcoves to your right have been opened and you see smashed skeletons within.
chris107: ah!
Smon: Just a 3" thick 18" wide stone slab blocking the end of each deep coffin-like alcove, yup.
chris107: H is not good at sums but he'll try and figure out how many stone coffins may be in view?
Smon: Thuruar comes up beside Hakeem with the light.
Smon: Couple hundred maybe.
chris107: mmmm
chris107: A force that would aid the north indeed!
chris107: Nerathi!
Smon: Amdor: "Odo says there's over 650 in here..."
Smon: "The filled ones, I mean. Must be thousands of empty ones."
chris107: hehe I wonder how much XP that works out as

Smon: /roll d20+6
Smon rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 10, (+6) = 16

Kjato Ragfoot: (Have I mentioned I like my new shield?)
chris107: (new shield? )
Smon: A dart bounces off Thuruar's own shield.
Kjato Ragfoot: (Well. My old character did not have one)
Smon: Amdor: "Miserable Xvarts! I'm bleeding!"
Smon: The goblin-things cackle and rush towards you... roll init.

Smon: Hakeem & Sarene win init. You see a big, 4'6" tall Xvart urging the others on to battle, it stands at the back though.
Smon: The Xvarts will be on you before Thuruar can get a spell off.
chris107: How many Xvarts?
Smon: (they got surprise & threw darts from within charge range)
Smon: 12

chris107: Slippery fellow!
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar calls forth the Spirit Guardians.
Kjato Ragfoot: (All enemies within 15 feet get their movement halfed and need to roll a WIS save or take 3d8 radiant damage)
Smon: The angelic host comes forth, stabbing at the two on Thuruar and the others - you can move forward to catch them all in the 30' spread.
Smon: roll the dmg once
Kjato Ragfoot: I will do so!
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 3d8 and gets: 5, 5, 1, = 11

Smon: The Svart leader disappears in a miasma of blood (had 21 hp)
chris107: Hack-hack-hack!
Smon: Nothing has over 20 AC in this game unless you're looking at ancient dragons, IME.
Smon: The last Svart places his blade to net-caught Amdor's throat and yells in a squeaky voice: "Back off or ee dies!"
chris107: yay!
Smon: The spirit guardians are still stabbing though...
Smon: another WIS save Kjato?
chris107: "He dies and you die slowly."
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes-
Kjato Ragfoot: But I think he only can be damaged once per round.
Smon: Yeah, you should not have told me to do damage right off, it happens on their turn.
Smon: However it does half dmg on a miss
Smon: It's bleeding at 1 hp.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. I never saw that part...
Smon: It screams at Thuruar: "Make them go or I kill him!"
chris107: "Go in peace little fellow. leave the wizard alone."
Smon: Does Thuruar dispel the Guardians?
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, Thuruar will dispel the guardians.
Smon: The spirit guardians stop trying to kill the svart.
Smon: It tugs Amdor to his feet, net over him. "I iz going, iz let im go at bridge, you noz followz or iz KILL 'im!"
Smon: Amdor: "mmff!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Now, leave that wizard alone or you will wish those spirits killed you.
Smon: It starts to push Amdor towards the stream-exit.
Smon: "Noz follow!"
chris107: "Leave him be and go!"
Smon: it glares at you wild-eyed.
Smon: Do you let it get to the stream?
chris107: Yes if he leaves Amdor
Smon: It's taking Amdor to the stream.
chris107: Leave the wizard!
Smon: "Stayz back!"
chris107: Or die!
chris107: Go in peace if you leave our friend now.
Smon: It's 30' down the tunnel now, blade at Amdor's throat.
chris107: Is that within stone throw?
Smon: It steps out onto the bridge, pushes Amdor in your direction, then runs.
Smon: (long range for a stone, disad)
chris107:
Smon: Amdor staggers towards you then collapses with a *huff*.
chris107: H is happy to let it go
Smon: "Bleeding... *meep*"
Smon: Sarene: "Pity they were on you before you could Fireball them, o great one."
chris107: mmmm perhaps a healing spell Thur?
Smon: brb tea.
Kjato Ragfoot: I agree Serene. But good that he kept his mighty magic, it might be useful once we start meeting any dangerous monsters.
chris107: yup
chris107: quick break then?
Kjato Ragfoot: (I am so tempted to cast "Zone of Truth" on Amdor)
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, let's get a tea everyone.
Smon: Amdor manages to get the net off, adjusting his crumpled hat.
Smon: "Healing would be most welcome, Wise Thuruar."
Smon: /roll d8+2
Smon rolls 1d8+2 and gets: 4, (+2) = 6
Smon: Sarene is on 116/120, she's ok.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will heal Amdor with a 1st level "Cure Wounds" (1d8+4)
Smon: Amdor's wound vanishes. He sighs happily. "Much better. Thank you." He grips his staff.
chris107:

Smon: 130 silver pieces.
chris107: LOOT!
chris107: Can we see where they came from?
Smon: You head down the tunnel SW to the intersection.
Smon: The NW and SE branches each run 80' then appear to dead-end.
chris107: Mmmm
chris107: both dark?
Smon: The main SW tunnel continues another 80' then opens out into a vaulted chamber with a centrak step-pyramid.
chris107: Are they full of the coffins too?
Smon: The side tunnels are dark.
Smon: Full of 'coffins' yes.
chris107: Search the side tunnels first?
chris107: Or go investigate the step-pyramid?
Smon: There is a big metal statue standing on the pyramid, looks like bronze?
chris107: H goes and has a look
Smon: It looks like a robed skeleton holding a scythe.
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's check the pyramid.
Smon: You emerge SW into the chamber, 40' across with tunnels running out to N, W, SW, S and E.
chris107: Hakeem approaches the giant skeleton gingerly
Smon: There is a faint red glow from the E and S tunnels.
Smon: The bronze skeleton is looking SW away from you, in the direction of the whistling-wind sound, even louder now.
chris107: Gosh
chris107: Whistling wind or start searching some of the side tunnels?
Kjato Ragfoot: I would like to check the pyramid.
chris107: H doesn't like leaving stuff behind him.
chris107: Okay
chris107: H stands guard
Smon: The step pyramid is 5' high and looks solid, forming a plinth for the statue.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will go closer to the pyramid and try to figure out what it is good for.
Smon: It's good for supporting the 15' tall statue.
Kjato Ragfoot: Amdor, who is that? (pointing to the skeleton)
Smon: You search around it but don't see any keyholes or such.
Smon: Amdor: "Eh? Oh, Thanatos maybe?"
Smon: "Some say the Sandlanders were an offshoot of Ancient Thracia, known for its Thanatic cults..."
chris107: Thanatos...
Kjato Ragfoot: Great. From one horde of undead adoring nutheads to the next.
chris107: H shivers at the memory of the wight
Smon: "Oh? You know them?" to Hakeem.
chris107: We have fought the forces of Thanatos before. Yes.
chris107: Does the statue seem solid?
Smon: Amdor looks around. "Well, this is far as I've been down here."
chris107: (As opposed to hollow. Does it turn?)
Smon: Are you hitting it?
chris107: tapping it
Kjato Ragfoot: How did you manage to survive this place so far?
Smon: Amdor shifts uncomfortably: "Eh, well of course, with my puissant magics..."
Smon: Hakeem taps the statue, it rings a hollow note.
chris107: mmmmm
chris107: He slices at one of the bronze legs with his magical blade
Smon: The sword hacks into the bronze, the sword tugs free revealing that the bronze is perhaps 1" thick.

Smon: Sarene shakes her head ruefully.
chris107: Hakeem will chase after him
Smon: roll init
Kjato Ragfoot: use your powerful magics to dimension door away!

Kjato Ragfoot: I like the masquerader.
chris107: H chases after it
Smon: You reach the intersection and see that the tunnel runs 100' before turning south.
chris107: Hurry Thur! I need light!
Smon: Thuruar and Sarene come up beside Hakeem.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 4,

Smon: Sarene shrugs: "Very faint... maybe I'm imagining it."
chris107: H searches around the area Sarene thought she could smell something
Smon: She looks around, at the alcoved walls and bare stone floor.
Kjato Ragfoot: And maybe it is our only chance to save that imposter.
Smon: Investigation (INT+Prof check) Hakeem
chris107 rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 7, (+4) = 11
Smon: Where are you looking H?
chris107: H is not very bright
Smon: & what are you doing>
chris107: Any of the graves been opened?
Smon: If you're specific enough the DC might be low enough
Smon: No - the lower alcoves have the stone seals, the upper ones empty.
chris107: Any of the floor tiles loose?
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will try to feel any turbulences in the air stream: If there is a secret door, it should have a stronger air flow than the normal tunnel.
Smon: Something odd about the floor, yes...
chris107: The higher level ones are empty? Any of them smell?
Smon: It's slightly springy underfoot!
Smon: What at first appeared grey stone, on closer inspection seems to be some kind of resinous mush.
chris107: ewwww
chris107: H pokes it with his sword
Smon: The sword tip goes in 2".
chris107: Does this smell?
Smon: Are you getting down and sniffing the floor?

chris107: Can he peel the gunk away?
Smon: Foul stench wafts from the hole... then the entire floor rises up as the "trapdoor" opens and out bursts a very angry giant spider!
Smon: Hakeem make STR save to hang on to sword.

Smon: "mmff! elp meeee!"
chris107: H reaches in and tries to snag the wiz
Smon: Down the hole Hakeem sees the foul spider's lair - bones, filth, various bits of equipment - silver gleams - and the silk-wrapped form of Amdor.

chris107: oops
Smon: Amdor's besilked body rolls across the floor. "Me air!"
chris107: H is a bit big to sneak down and look I guess.
Smon: H could fit down there.
Smon: The dead spider is near the size of a horse.
chris107: He pushes his way down then.
chris107: Cripes!
Smon: H clambers down, the bottom of the pit 10' down.
chris107: H would not have chased quite so quickly if he's have known.
Smon: Rotting garbage, bones, a flail, copper coins...
Smon: (well it was about 4' off the ground when scuttling)
chris107: H tosses stuff up

chris107: What design is it?
10:06pm 2015-10-29 Rystellin Has entered the room
chris107: Arrgghh! Bondorr!
Smon: Looks like an Altanian longsword, rather archaic design perhaps.
Smon: It feels powerful in the hand, almost alive.
Smon: But something odd about the hilt.
chris107: Does the blue light hurt?
Smon: It looks as if the end unscrews.
Smon: No.
chris107: H inspects the hilt more closely
Smon: Looks as if the pommel can be unscrewed.
10:07pm 2015-10-29 Oculus Orbus Has exited the room

chris107: Bitch
Smon: The mighty Sword Knight was killed by his foes and the sword lost.
chris107: H grinds the cube beneath his boot
Smon: The pommel screws back onto the hilt.
Smon: The cube is hard stone and is unscathed.

10:14pm 2015-10-29 Oculus Orbus Has exited the room

Smon: OOC not trying to screw Thuruar & Rey over, I rolled a d6 for sword size, 1-2 shortsword they could have used)

10:18pm 2015-10-29 Oculus Orbus Has entered the room
chris107: For now H will use Bloodletter.

chris107: Worth a try
10:19pm 2015-10-29 Oculus Orbus Has exited the room

Smon: OOC You're very unlikely to find rapiers or similar big Finesse swords BTW as they are too high a tech level for the area.

Smon: The spider tunnel runs S then E and comes back into the room with the skeleton statue
Rystellin: I like this game
Smon: Oc's entering & exiting starting to annoy me.
Kjato Ragfoot: I would be completely happy with a low level short sword.

chris107: H draws Bloodletter
Smon: It looks like a headless gorilla made of honeycomb, through which the wind whistles...
Kjato Ragfoot: No! Do not stop the wind!

Smon:
chris107: H is ready to kill the gorillathingie
Smon: I'll stop there.
