5:54pm 2015-10-09 Smon Has entered the room
5:58pm 2015-10-09 Amalric Has entered the room
Smon: Hi Graham
Amalric: evening Simon
Smon: So no chris tonight; not sure how to handle that considering you ended at a cliffhanger.
Amalric: ah
Smon: Will see if Kjato shows, if not guess I'll leave it to next week.
6:05pm 2015-10-09 Kjato Ragfoot Has entered the room
Smon: Hi Kjato
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello!
Amalric: hey K
Smon: No chris tonight, we can probably NPC Hakeem?
Smon: I have him at 77/101 hp
Amalric: lets
Kjato Ragfoot: As long as we let him charge recklessly into any mean looking enemies, that should not be a problem.
Smon: Rey 47/61, Bjornalf 37/62
Smon:
Smon: >>Smon: The tunnel spirals SW then S, and you see ahead another door on the right, this one wooden and swollen with rot and mould. chris107: yuk Kjato Ragfoot: Let's check it anyway. Smon: Past this door the spirak turns SE and appears to reach a junction, with exits off to left and right. Smon: (stopping shortly) chris107: H wraps his handkerchief around his nose and mouth chris107: (I'm sure all Barbarians have handkerchiefs ) Smon: /roll d20 Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 13, Smon: Hakeem approaches the rotted door. His foot nudges a stone pebble, that rolls down the tunnel. chris107: Check the junction Smon: And from the darkness beyond the right fork in the junction, a voice booms out: chris107: or maybe not chris107: Oops Smon: "WELCOME!!! WHO DARES ENTER THE DOMAIN OF THE UMBER DWARF?!"<<
Smon: GM: What are you doing?
Kjato Ragfoot: We answer, of course. It would be impolite not to.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello great Umber Dwarf, we are Lord Rey, Prince Hakeem and Vizier Bjornalf.
Amalric: (sorry on phone)
Smon: "APPROACH AND SHOW YOURSELVES!"
Smon: The voice is coming from the archway ahead to your right, a smaller archway to the left opposite it.
Kjato Ragfoot: Rey, are there any traps between us and that voice?
Amalric: Rey will search
Amalric rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 12, (+7) = 19
Smon: Rey doesn't find any traps. As he approaches the intersection, white light glares out from the right, the direction of the voice.
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's step forward to the light then, and draw our hats as signs of courtesy.
Amalric: agreed
Smon: The light shines into the left alcove, illuminating a dwarven smithy chamber complete with rune-carved anvil. Shadows seem to move and shift around the walls.
Smon: You step into the light...
Amalric: (off phone now, hurrah)
Smon: Entering through the right-hand archway, you see a good sized hall, stone doors to the right (west) and at the east end of the south wall. In the centre of the south wall a throne sits upon a raised dais. Four white apes stand around the throne dais, and on the throne sits the weirdest dwarf you've ever seen...
Amalric: they're all weird
Kjato Ragfoot: Must be a cousin of Kogor.
Smon: Oddly swollen, perhaps 5' across, uniform red-brown in tone, it seems more rock than living flesh.
Smon: Eyes glitter like diamonds in dark pits as the Umber Dwarf regards you, holding an iron sceptre-mace.
Smon: The apes draw back their lips, snarling.
Smon: /roll 2d6
Smon rolls 2d6 and gets: 5, 6, = 11
Smon: The stone dwarf pats one ape on the head. "EASY THERE BOY... VISITORS, WHAT BRINGS YOU HERE?"
Amalric: "What does bring us here?" Rey whispers to Kjato
Kjato Ragfoot: The lady of Thusia sent us to investigate, as there are rumours that the inhabitants of this cave were harassing travellers and harming the countryside.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 3,
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf whispers back "usually, a good lie helps. If not, send Hakeem in."
Smon: The umber dwarf snarls. "LIES!! YOU LIE!"
Smon: He gets to his feet, mace raised.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh Well. Hakeem, get him!
Smon: The apes snarl and lope towards you - roll init.
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 9, (+3) = 12
Amalric: "Guess the truth was out as an option, ah well..."
Amalric rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 19, (+5) = 24

Smon: you roll, twice
Amalric rolls 2d20 and gets: 18, 13, = 31
Smon: Rey + Hakeem, then apes, then Bjornalf, then umber dwarf
Amalric: Rey
Amalric Rolls 1d20+8x2 and gets:
14 (+8) = 22
15 (+8) = 23
Smon: Attacking umber dwarf?
Amalric: who is Hakeem attacking?
Amalric: thought he would take the Dwarf, B and R would tackle the apes?
Smon: He'll attack the dwarf like you said
Amalric: Rey stabbity stabs an ape
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, that sounds like something Hakeem would do.
Amalric rolls 1d8+5 and gets: 1, (+5) = 6
Smon: Rey goes for the nearest ape, two hits
Amalric rolls 1d4+1 and gets: 4, (+1) = 5
Amalric rolls 4d6 and gets: 1, 6, 1, 6, = 14
Smon: It's stabbed twice through the heart and drops dead.
Smon: Hakeem Rages and attacks
Kjato Ragfoot: Can Bjornalf Shatter or Fairy Fire any enemies without hitting the party?
Amalric: me roll or you?
Smon: /roll d20+8x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+8x2 and gets:
6 (+8) = 14
8 (+8) = 16
Smon: You better roll in future - Hakeem's enchanted blade is harmlessly deflected by the brute's stony hide.
Amalric: LOL
Smon: Before Bjornalf can cast, two apes are on him, fists flailing:
Smon: /roll d20+5x4
Smon Rolls 1d20+5x4 and gets:
5 (+5) = 10
13 (+5) = 18
20 (+5) = 25

Smon rolls 3d6+6 and gets: 3, 6, 2, (+6) = 17
Smon: 17 dmg, B at 20
Smon: B's go
Kjato Ragfoot: So, can I cast without harming the others or can't I?
Kjato Ragfoot: If I cannot, I will Poison Spray one of the Apes attacking me.
Smon: B can cast Shatter so it only catches the Dwarf, yes, by casting towards the rear of the chamber
Kjato Ragfoot: Then Shatter on the dwarf it is.
Smon: Its stony form gives it disad on save...
Smon: /roll d20+5x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+5x2 and gets:
6 (+5) = 11

Smon: 56 damage!
Smon: Chunks break off the dwarf, it snarls in pain.
Amalric: nice!
Kjato Ragfoot: (and the best part is: I can do that again, unless the monkeys turn me asunder)
Smon: The umber dwarf swings its sceptre at Hakeem...
Smon: /roll d20+8x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+8x2 and gets:
9 (+8) = 17

Smon: /roll 2d8+5
Smon rolls 2d8+5 and gets: 2, 7, (+5) = 14
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh, it is Hakeem. He can take plenty of punishment.
Smon: 14/2=7 dmg
Smon: 70 left
Amalric: back to me?
Smon: Rey's turn. He can't Sneak his ape as no ally adjacent, but he could suck up a free attack & go help Bjornalf and sneak att one on him?
Amalric: sure
Smon: Ape swings:
Smon: /roll d20+5
Smon rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 6, (+5) = 11
Smon: misses
Smon: Rey can SA one of the two on B
Amalric: will do
Amalric Rolls 1d20+8x2 and gets:

Amalric rolls 4d6 and gets: 2, 1, 6, 5, = 14
Smon: Rey's rapier stabs an ape in the back, it falls.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thanks pal!
Smon: I think Hakeem would Berserk at this point?
Smon: 3 attacks vs dwarf at +8
Amalric: sure why not?
Smon: Graham you roll
Kjato Ragfoot: That sounds like Hakeem.
Smon: He'll be fatigued after battle.
Amalric Rolls 1d20+8x3 and gets:
20 (+8) = 28
1 (+8) = 9
11 (+8) = 19

Smon: /roll d20+5x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+5x2 and gets:
19 (+5) = 24

Smon: Cracks are appearing all over his disintegrating body.
Smon: "YE HELLSPAWN WILL PAY FOR THIS!!"
Smon: Umber Dwarf swings at Hakeem:
Amalric: "Has he got stone ears, too? Why does he shout all the time?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Not if Hakeem gets you first.
Smon: /roll d20+8x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+8x2 and gets:

Amalric: rubbish

Smon: Hakeem's go
Amalric Rolls 1d20+8x3 and gets:
15 (+8) = 23
9 (+8) = 17
16 (+8) = 24
Smon: 3 hits!
Smon: Hakeem smashes and cuts the umber dwarf into a pile of red brown rubble.
Amalric rolls 3d8+21 and gets: 1, 8, 2, (+21) = 32
Smon: (23 hp left, min 24 dmg)
Amalric: still poor rolls!
Amalric: but effective
Smon: The enraged apes are still attacking. 3 in 6 the one Rey stabbed turns on him:
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
Smon: lucky for B
Smon: /roll d20+5x4
Smon Rolls 1d20+5x4 and gets:
5 (+5) = 10
17 (+5) = 22
11 (+5) = 16
17 (+5) = 22
Smon: 2 hits
Smon: /roll d6+3
Smon: /roll d6+3
Smon rolls 1d6+3 and gets: 4, (+3) = 7

Kjato Ragfoot: B will Poison Spray the ape that just turned the back on him to attack Rey.
Smon: CON save
Smon: /roll d20+2
Smon rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 12, (+2) = 14
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d12 and gets: 12,
Amalric: nice
Smon: Ape shrieks and dies.
Smon: Rey's go vs the last ape
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf laughs manically, discharging all that pain he feels.
Amalric Rolls 1d20+8x2 and gets:
12 (+8) = 20
5 (+8) = 13
Smon: 2 hits
Amalric rolls 1d8+5 and gets: 1, (+5) = 6
Amalric rolls 1d4+1 and gets: 3, (+1) = 4
Amalric rolls 4d6 and gets: 1, 2, 6, 3, = 12
Smon: The ape drops dead.
Smon: For a moment there is silence.
Smon: Then a deathly wind seems to blow around you, and the enchanted white-light torches gutter and die, leaving only the light of Rey's golden dagger.
Amalric: anything obvious lying about? dwarf's sceptre?
Smon: The sceptre seems huge and quite crude, but the umber dwarf's diamond eyes glimmer amidst the rubble. Then through the archway you see the shadows of dwarves moving towards you from the forge chamber opposite...
Amalric: do they look angry?
Kjato Ragfoot: OK. Lets grab those diamonds and run outside.
Smon: Deathly voices hiss: "Man-things! You should not have come..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Those are dwarf shadows. It does not matter what they look like. It only matters that they are deathly shadows and hiss.
Amalric: agreed, lets go
Amalric: if we can take the sceptre and diamonds lets do so
Smon: Roll init, if you win you can flee, Rey can grab both diamonds with a DEX check, or one safely
Amalric rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 6, (+5) = 11
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 12, (+3) = 15
Smon: shadows:
Smon: /roll d20+2
Smon rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 18, (+2) = 20
Smon: heh
Amalric: LOL
Smon: Hakeem:
Smon: /roll d20+2x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+2x2 and gets:
1 (+2) = 3
15 (+2) = 17
Smon: They're too fast for you. Rolling d3 for each of the 4: 1 Hakeem 2 Rey 3 Bjornalf
Smon: /roll d3x4
Smon Rolls 1d3x4 and gets:
1 = 1
1 = 1
2 = 2
3 = 3
Amalric: couldn't have been much better, 4 1s maybe
Smon:
Smon: 2 attack Hakeem:
Smon: /roll d20+4x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+4x2 and gets:
18 (+4) = 22
14 (+4) = 18
Smon: ouch
Smon: H's Rage ended as he didn't attack
Amalric: you're on fire tonight Simon!
Smon: /roll 4d6+4
Smon rolls 4d6+4 and gets: 5, 1, 1, 3, (+4) = 14
Smon: 14 necrotic dmg
Smon: /roll 2d4
Smon rolls 2d4 and gets: 3, 3, = 6
Smon: -6 str
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, that does not protect against necrotic damage anyway.
Smon: H at 49 hp
Smon: 1 vs Rey:
Smon: /roll d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 9, (+4) = 13
Smon: miss
Smon: 1 vs B, if it hits, sayonara...
Smon: /roll d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 14, (+4) = 18
Smon: The icy hand of death clutches at Bjornalf's heart...
Amalric: oops
Kjato Ragfoot: That is a hit.
Smon: /roll 2d6+2
Smon rolls 2d6+2 and gets: 5, 5, (+2) = 12
Smon: -7 hp
Smon: Bjornalf falls.
Amalric: is Hakeem still berzerk?
Smon: You running or fighting?
Smon: no he's not in rage
Amalric: running if we can
Amalric: if H can grab B, and R the diamonds
Smon: Yes, Rey can use Cunning Action - Dash to grab both diamonds and leg it with Disengage action too
Amalric: brilliant!
Smon: Hakeem can grab Bjornalf and run (Dash) but suffers 3 free attacks on him, if STR drained below 9 he'll not be able to carry Bjornalf out...
Smon: GM: Rey grabs the diamonds and runs, nimbly evading the shadow-dwarves.
Kjato Ragfoot: I have no idea how strong Hakeem is.
Smon: Hakeem STR 14 currently
Smon: down from 20
Smon: 3 Shadows descend on Hakeem as he picks up Bjornalf
Amalric: have to risk it
Smon: /roll d20+4x3
Smon Rolls 1d20+4x3 and gets:
7 (+4) = 11
15 (+4) = 19
16 (+4) = 20

Amalric: goner either way
Smon: Not your night
Smon: 2 hits
Smon: /roll 2d4
Smon rolls 2d4 and gets: 4, 2, = 6
Smon: STR 8
Amalric: jeez
Amalric: you have literally rolled killer rolls tonight
Smon: /roll 4d6+4
Smon rolls 4d6+4 and gets: 2, 6, 5, 3, (+4) = 20
Smon: 20 dmg, I'll say H raged for the 1 round (that's 3 rages used) so 10 dmg, rage ends as he doesn't attack this round, staggering out behind Rey
Smon: OOC Pity chris not here, I'm uncomfortable having him retreat & leave Bjornalf even though certain death to stay.
Kjato Ragfoot: He will have to return to avenge me!
Smon: Hakeem sees a vision of Malenn beckoning him: "Don't die here! You have to live!"
Smon: Kinda the opposite of "Do you wanna live forever?"
Amalric: good point Simon, chris might well have had him fight on
Smon: Malenn's spirit yanks Hakeem towards the surface...
Amalric: do you want to be remembered forever?
Smon: Almost in a daze he bursts out from the Worm's Gullet a short distance behind Rey.
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's just say that Bjornalf, with his last breat, SUGGESTED Hakeem to leave.
Smon: OK
Smon: H was Fatigued so I guess he was vulnerable to Suggestion.
Amalric: has he even noticed the diamonds? Rey might have earned himself a nice little earner
Smon: Meanwhile Bjornalf swims through a green underground grotto... sees the beautiful Queen of Ocean beckon him...
Smon: Feels her soft kiss on his lips...
Smon: The Shadows cluster about an empty corpse husk, the spirit gone.
Smon: The Queen whispers in Bjornalf's ear: "They may have your body - but your spirit is mine, my love."
Smon: ~finis Bjornalf~
Amalric: hard luck Kjato
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, that is the game.
Smon: OOC The Queen took his spirit so it couldn't be damned to Undead existence as a Shadow,
Kjato Ragfoot: That is damn nice of her!
Smon:
Smon: She felt she had propietary rights in it already.
Smon: proprietry
Smon: She owned it.
Amalric: that too
Smon: Outside, Rey looks around. It's raining heavily; a sodden Tania sits behind the rock.
Smon: Hakeem seems to be in a daze.
Smon: Tania: "Bjornalf?"
7:25pm 2015-10-09 combatmedic Has entered the room
Smon: Hi cm
Amalric: "Come on, my friend. Lets get back."
Smon: Tania sighs, getting to her feet.
combatmedic: (Hi)
Amalric: Rey shakes his head sadly. "Apes, a stone dwarf, and shadows. The last got Bjornalf, we barely made it out ourselves."
Amalric: (hey CM)
Amalric: Rey leads Hakeem, following Tania
Smon: Tania sighs sadly. Your depleted band heads back towards Thusia.
7:27pm 2015-10-09 combatmedic Has exited the room
Smon: From the crest of the first hill you catch a glimpse north-west where the hills run down to the valley of the Cedarwade river, the little villages mostly in thrall to the brigands of Carchimish.
Kjato Ragfoot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYB3yyu0UrQ
Kjato Ragfoot: (A dreary music echoes over the valley)
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
Amalric: of course!
Smon: An hour's hike through the hills, huge dark shapes loom out of the trees ahead!
Smon: Rain-sodden mastodons, a herd of them grazing sombrely on the lush grass of the hills.
Smon: They regard you darkly.
Amalric: did they eat grass? They must-a-done
Smon: Tania whispers: "Let's go around - no sudden movements..."
Amalric: lets skirt them, slowly but surely
Amalric: see? like that, LOL
Smon: OOC I guess IRL mastodon stomachs didn't digest grass too well. This however is magic Ghinarian grass, extra tasty.
Smon: Terrible pun BTW.
Amalric: ha!
Amalric: anytime
Smon: That afternoon your rain sodden and depleted band returns to Thusia.
Smon: Lady Meda greets you sadly. "I am sorry."
Amalric: guess we should have tried the wizard's lair...
Smon: OOC stop there?
Amalric: if you want?
Smon: Bad luck B, seemed like every die went against you.
Amalric: Kjato roll/start a new PC?
Amalric: I thought we were facing a TPK when the shadows appeared
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, that stuff happens. We had fights that went the other way around, where we thought we are gone for sure and survived through pure luck.
Smon: True
Kjato Ragfoot: Sure. I think I will play a cleric or something like that.
Smon: Something with lots of resilience prob best
Smon: Only 3 PCs makes squishier PC vulnerable.
Smon: Cleric would be good vs Shadows
Kjato Ragfoot: I thought paladin or cleric. Both are rather tough, both can heal and both should go along well with Hakeem and ... well, Rey not so much.
Amalric:
Amalric: no offence taken
Smon: Any thoughts which deity?
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. and Smon - can you do me a favour and include this woman into your NPC collection: http://www.deutscherbauernkalender.de/images/phocagallery/girls/2016/thumbs/phoca_thumb_l_Lisa_BE.jpg
Amalric: Rey's not a bad sort, really
Amalric: not sure about the ones with the black faces...
Smon: Bit of cropping on the collars, should work
Smon: Do you think a Mitra paladin/cleric Kjato, like Marcus Hystaspes?
Smon: You could even play old Marcus, 13 years older, say he survived the apocalyptic battle with the Red Reavers of Grimalon?
Kjato Ragfoot: No. With Hakeem and Rey around, a paragorn of law would probably soon become addicted to drugs.
Smon:
Smon: There are other powerful healer classes, like Bard & Druid.
Smon: I'm a bit uncomfy with Druid wildshape rules though.
Kjato Ragfoot: I considered a cleric of tempest or nature.
Smon: Sounds good,
Smon: Pan then?
Amalric: Bard would be a good fit
Smon: Or a Bondor storm-priest.
Amalric: not more BONDOR!! chanting, please...
Smon: Maybe a friend/ally of Lady Meda?
Smon: If he can stand the philosophical discussion...
Smon: I'll post log
