Smon: GM: So, Hakeem is at the Altanian Clan Moot, waiting to speak.
chris107: Hakeem will try and make up for that tonight
Amalric: LOL
Amalric: cant recall what time I noticed, must have been after ten
Amalric: two Thursdays in a row i've been sat in the house, on the computer, never crossed my mind for an instant - twat
Smon: It's several weeks since the previous session. I'm thinking Rey & Thuruar could have taken ship north to join Hakeem at the Clan Moot?
chris107: Hakeem walks slowly through the throng to the great chieften (ess)
Amalric: works for me
Kjato Ragfoot: Works for me too.
Amalric: Rey must have been keeping the girls happy
Smon: Ship from Ahyf to Vigil Sound; Alicia will come along and keep Rey well supplied with Mage Armour.
Smon: Lucy is staying at Thusia, she bids Rey farewell.
Amalric: okey doke
Smon: GM: Night falls, and Hakeem is finally summoned. As Hakeem walks through the assembled Altanian throng he sees his old friend Rey, along with Thuruar and the witch Alicia, newly arrived at the great gathering.
chris107: He nods and smiles broadly as he enters
Smon: Nearby amidst the barbarians you also see the Pirate Chief Sarene and her Chosen Axemen; her liutenant and a blonde Nerathi slave-priestess.
chris107: He looks at her directly and winks
chris107: (Sarene)
Amalric: Rey nods at H with a smile, but almost immediately turns his head to check out the ladies. Just out of professional curiosity, of course
chris107: He looks for Beklomda Mor and Koltan the lame
Kjato Ragfoot: I did not know you can steal Nerathis.
Smon: More Chiefs have arrived - delegations from far and wide - Tyrant Ragiun VI of the Nippuri, the men of the Hoard-Wardens from the Eyestones Jungle, mighty Xatchar of the Red Tiger...
chris107: H remains relaxed but respectful.
Amalric: you're making these names up now
Smon: Beklomda is still atop her raised throne-palanquin. Hakeem spots the battle-scarred Tigerclaw men, Chief Kalgol and there Koltan the Lame, once a mighty western Sword-Knight, his strength now faded.
Smon: Most of them are straight from the book.
chris107: He pays his respects to the chiefs and especially the once mighty sword knight
Smon: Sarene catches Hakeem's eye a moment and winks back, then smiles at Rey.
Smon: The blonde Nerathi slave-priestess smiles at Rey, causing the Altani warrior holding her chain to tug her closer to him.
Smon: Hakeem reaches the edge of the torch-lit circle before Beklomda Mor. Close by he spots his clan's Psychic Defender, young Laara - she smiles at him - she seems to have a soft spot for him, but word of his marriage has spread through the clan.
Smon: Koltan inclines his head slightly to Hakeem, then the High Chief Beklomda speaks:
chris107: H makes sure that his 'pitch' is ready. Putting into words the victories from the destruction of the Thanatar temple, his single handed victory over Grastic the Brute, the recovered golden statue, the destruction of the K'thulu cult and the azure lion. The only part he doest use is his fight agin Sarene (too gentlemanly)
Smon: "Men of Altanis! Next before us is Hakeem, mighty warrior of Grey-Wolf! Come forth!"
Smon: GM: You can abstract it & roll a CHA check, or speak in character - your choice.
chris107: Hakeen walks slowly but steadily into the circle
chris107: Speak in character, too important to risk a bad roll on.
chris107: Hakeem looks around the assembly with a steady gaze.
Smon: Beklomda: "Welcome, Dragon-Killer!"
chris107: His last glance for Kalton
Smon: Hakeem's fellow Sword-Brothers cheer as he strides forth.
chris107: He bows before the high chieftenses
chris107: Beklomda Morr, you honour me.
chris107: Chieftens of the Altani. You honour me.
chris107: Altanians to a man.... LET ME BRING HONOUR TO YOU!
chris107: The Nerathi are doing war upon our Western bretheren.
chris107: he gestures to the clan chiefs
chris107: They will do war upon us. Their filthy necromancy fills our hills. IT MUST BE STOPPED!
chris107: I have served Bondorr and the Grey wolves since I was a boy (here he glances sidelong at Serene)
chris107: I am no longer a boy.
chris107: I bested Grastic the Brute in personal combat
Amalric: "Taught him well, I did," whispers Rey, to nobody in particular
Smon:
chris107: I destroyed the ancient guardian of Nerath and the temple of Thanatar
chris107: Destroyed the world eater, K'thulhu's temple and his demons
chris107: Was accepted by mighty Kalthalax, the demon slayer
chris107: Roper, Gorgon and Dragon have fallen beneath my blade
chris107: The blade that Bondorr tought me how to use. On my life I have never used another weapon.
chris107: #I stand before you now
chris107: Ready to drive the Nerathi from our lands
chris107: ready to fight our enemies
chris107: and ask only one thing.
chris107: That you think I am ready to serve Bondorr more closely
chris107: (Looking directly at the old sword Knight)
chris107: I ask that I may become a Sword Knight of Bondorr."
chris107: He looks quietly at the surrounding faces and falls silent.
chris107: Guess that's it?
Smon: The crowd falls silent. Beklomda: "You speak well. Is there any here who will bear witness to your deeds?"
Amalric: "Huh? What?"
chris107: OOC Don't all rush at once
Smon: Hakeem's chief, old Vorkes: "Some few words of this has come north to us..."
Amalric: "He must mean us...or me. Where is Thuruar anyway?"
Smon: GM: Thuruar is there, Kjato?
Kjato Ragfoot: I know Hakeem only shortly, but have fought at his side in the halls of the Umber Dwarf. The dragon's breath knocked me out quickly, but Hakeem stand strong.
Amalric: Rey steps forward, beaming
Kjato Ragfoot: (Yes, he is. I am trying to get a proper somberly speech done)
Kjato Ragfoot: Only his prowess and bravery allowed me to survive, because he slew that dragon.
Amalric: "I have stood side-by-side with Hakeem over many adventurers, and against many of these foes. Never have I seen a finer swordsman."
Smon: Vorkes: "Hakeem, that wolfshead blade you bear is not your father's sword. Bring it forth."
chris107: (OOC I wonder if Serene will recognize the gentlemanly thing H did not mentioning their dual)
Amalric: "That gorgon was a right bugger, I can tell you."
Smon: (LOL)
chris107: H draws the wolfshead blade and offers it hilt first to Vorkes
Kjato Ragfoot: (If she is a proper pirate, she will praise Hakeem for the good fight)
Smon: Vorkes declines the blade. "A sword of old Altanis. How came you by it?"
Smon: Sarene is looking thoughtful.
chris107: Hakeem tells the tale.
Smon: The crowd listens attentively.
chris107: he laughingly also tells, as light relief
chris107: his story of punching the horny Oriax into bloody surrrender.
Smon: At length Sarene steps forward. "I will also speak for Hakeem. We fought - he is nearly my equal... " she smirks. "But more than that, he fought with bravery, and with honour."
chris107: Alas the slippery eel magicked himself to saftey
chris107: H nods with respect at Serene
Smon: There is laughter at Hakeem's tale of punching Oriax. "The Demonbrood Mage!" nods Beklomda.
chris107: "I, that's the one. I will throw his head at your feet at the next Clanmoot."
Smon: She looks over the assembled Altani, the Wise Women, the scattering of Sword Knights. All nod. At length Beklomda nods too. "It is enough. Hakeem of the Greywolf, come forth. Give me your sword."
chris107: H does as he is bid. Offering the sword hilt first to the over chieften (ess)
Amalric: "I do hope they're not going to give him a wooden spoon."
Smon: Beklomda takes the blade by the wolf-hilt, eyeing it appreciatively. "Kneel."
chris107:
chris107: He does so
Kjato Ragfoot: I doubt it. They are probably forbidden handling spoons by their faith and eat with knifes only.
chris107: hehe
Amalric: LOL!
Smon: Beklomda leans forward in her throne, rolls of fat rippling, and stretches down to touch the blade tip to Hakeem's forehead, drawing a drop of blood.
Smon: "Hakeem of the Greywolf. From this day to your last day, you are Sword Knight of Altanis."
chris107: H prays to Bondorr
Amalric: "I hope she is not going to kill him! Oh wait, she's only aimed for his head, nothing important in there..."
chris107: Yay!
Smon: She raises the sword, the tip blooded. The crowd cheers.
chris107: (Thanks Graham )
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar shortly chuckles, but quickly regains his somber posture.
Smon: "Arise, Knight!"
Amalric:
Smon: (probably 1 hp dmg I reckon)
chris107: H arises with great pride and also humility. He meant every word he said.
Amalric: "Do you think he'll insist on being called, 'Sir Hakeem'? That could get tiresome."
Smon: The cheering grows louder as Hakeem rises to his feet, somewhat subdued from the Feathered Bears, very loud from the Greywolf.
chris107: He shakes the hands of those who had faith in him. And his friends. He offers his hand to sarene.
Smon: Beklomda: "Now let us drink! And feast!"
chris107: Drink! Yeah!
Smon: The crowd surges forward to pat Hakeem on the back, shake his hand.
chris107:
Amalric: "YES! LET'S PARTY LIKE ITS...what year is it anyway?" asks Rey
chris107: "Rey, just call me Sir." He winks "Sir Hakeem is such a mouth full."
Smon: Sarene grins and grips Hakeem's hand firmly, looking up at him. "Let's kill Nerathi together, Sword Knight!"
chris107: 4446
chris107: I think
Smon: Yup
Smon: In the Corrected Commoner's Calendar.
Amalric: "Sir? I think I'll stick with Hakeem, its...longer."
Smon: 4346 in Viridian time.
chris107: I am very much a corrupted common... erm..
Smon: The crowd parts as Old Vorkes comes through to slap Hakeem's back with a frail hand. "Well done!"
6:50pm 2015-10-23 Smon Has exited the room
Amalric: corrupted uncommoner?
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem
chris107: Hakeem is very happy
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem's will to fight has been corrupted by his desire to see his son and wife safe?
chris107: Not any more Kjato
chris107: Hakeem from day 1 wanted to become a sword knight.
Amalric: now he's blinded by sword rage
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar will congratulate Hakeem for becoming a sword knight, and on the good speech.
chris107: The boy child is a bonus and a cool way to continue playing in the future
chris107: Now is the time for the Slayer to earn his keep.
chris107: DEATH TO THE NERATHI!
chris107: OOC I read through all the background stuff again last night and today. Kjato, you were right. They are the huge threat.
Smon: The crowd parts as Old Vorkes comes through to slap Hakeem's back with a frail hand. "Well done!" He coughs. "But soon we must talk of other matters..."
Kjato Ragfoot: (Hmm. I need some goal for Thuruar. So far, I have not the slightest idea what he may want to achieve)
6:51pm 2015-10-23 Smon Has entered the room
chris107: H is delighted that his clan chief is there.
chris107: he makes a real fuss of him.
Amalric: looks like he's going to ask you to fulfill your tribal obligations
chris107: Assuring him of his (and his chums?) assistance.
Amalric: of course!
chris107: Rey has his carnal obligations. Hakeem has his tribal obligations
Amalric: Rey cant be left to his hedonistic lifestyle
Amalric: it'll be the end of him. adventuring is a much safer line of existence
chris107: hehe
Smon: GM: The night is spent feasting and drinking, with a procession of warriors congratulating Hakeem. Rey & Thuruar can find a place amid the Greywolf tents. The next day, Chief Vorkes of the Greywolf calls his Clan together.
chris107: H, with sore head, goes along.
Smon: Still a little hung over from the night before, Hakeem, Rey, Thuruar join the others - old Vorkes, the Wise Women led by Vorkes' wife Kala (and including Hakeem's ugly aunt Nefeti.)
chris107: (I put a word in for Rey with Nefeti )
Amalric: (you're too kind, and after all the lies I told at your investiture)
Smon: Among the women is Hakeem's mother Gnubis, still a fine looking lady, and the beautiful Laara, Psychic Defender of the clan.
chris107: (hehe, as Mor said. From now onwards...)
Smon: Laara - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnol-LYMKUOL_T2OpJ7CGPRKetNb-00wxEZlyNBh7Uo_sjcBvTtueEjj2gdSZYNNKFnMMuPq6hlpzNx6bPhNt_nijcJg5rj2ZscMC9pRRjWwFxBNMwy4JaYn1gETstj37SnP-cTQPeG5k/s400/Laara.jpg
chris107: (Oh gosh this is not going to end well...)
Kjato Ragfoot: (Hello nurse...)
Amalric: Rey is impressed
chris107: I was expecting a picture of hakeem's mum there Simon!
Smon:
chris107: And then watching Rey chase her all over the Ghinarean Hills
Smon: Hakeem's mom - I'm thinking Conan's mom from the 1981 film, about 10 yrs older
Amalric: cant recall
chris107: mmmmm that's fair. So long as it's not Conan's mum in the 2012 (?) filem. With the filed teeth
Amalric: Rey has age limits on his conquests
Amalric: most days
chris107: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYM-ulYIGNfnJ-BId7mfYjgrd8ByG81eaKZPfK_XCsNttTENTtYGWxO8941UaekHH4Lka_m0sk7lSPfOWpSg7PF3809uyXUq5O44QJX0VMVfHtWc1Vs1h0jwQcUPvJOqZdKGO5Piy4W9E5/s1600/d.jpg
Kjato Ragfoot: (That would be her: http://www.abandomoviez.net/db/persona_thumb/Nadiuska.jpg)
Amalric: she'll do
Smon: Just checked - Conan's mom looks a bit too blonde, was thinking more Italian looking.
Smon: Actually the witch is perfect - http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--E-VYMecT--/vqnd0rbui9dfjjsjtg2p.jpg
chris107: Ah yes. That's what I had in mind
Amalric: Rey too
chris107: hehe
chris107: H listens attentively to the Clan chiefs
chris107: (He hasn't killed anything in ages and is getting twitchy)
Kjato Ragfoot: (Hakeem is addicted to killing enemies and is getting a cold turkey?
chris107: (Yup)
Amalric: (You just noticed?)
Kjato Ragfoot: (Yes)
Kjato Ragfoot: (I am not that fast a thinker)
Amalric: (neither is H!)
chris107: ( )
Smon: Vorkes: "Kaag Tiger-Killer, step forth."
chris107: (Father in law to be)
Smon: The great warrior steps forward, bows his head to Vorkes. Kaag's lover Gnubis watches proudly.
chris107: (Gnubis = Mum)
Smon: Kaag - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicNEN-YbooqVzcCM0EvhxcvoaTcNY8vBehzozim-FZMuRikHH2Los-2TQ20eF39_Ehgog9ZOZiv56Cm9Ktxb1rbprA4IxWtK8IFtL4bPJtqK8CVt3DPgeYIJOTeSjxs4Bo4CbuuQUNOkI/s1600/Kaag+Tiger-Killer.jpg
Smon: Vorkes: "I grow old, and frail. Hard times are coming. The Nerathi seek to destroy us all, and we of the Greywolf are the first Clan in their path. We need a leader who can unite the clans, A warrior of strength - and wisdom."
Smon: Kaag tenses - his reputation for wisdom is not the greatest.
chris107: H nods
Amalric: "He must mean me," whispers Rey
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar gives Rey this typical teacher look.
chris107:
Amalric: "Oh, right..."
Smon: Vorkes: "Kaag, who slew the great Saber-Tooth in lone combat, you are strong. You are a great hunter. In time I believe you will learn the wisdom you need... Wise Women? What say you?"
Smon: Kala, Nefeti and the other Wise-Women huddle together, clucking like hens. Sweat beads on Kaag's brow as the minutes draw on.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
Smon: heh
Kjato Ragfoot: (I have a certain hunch what Kaag is raising next level)
chris107: H stands beside Kaag in silent support
Smon: At length Kala steps forward, shakes her head. "No."
Smon: There is a gasp from the assembled throng. Kaag blanches.
Smon: (I guess that's why you roleplay it not roll it!)
chris107: H supports him
chris107: (Yup )
Smon: Kala glares imperiously at Vorkes, her ailing husband. "Kaag has no wisdom. He is not ready."
Smon: Kaag snarls, fingers white on his great axe.
Smon: Vorkes: "But - but... there is no one else!"
Amalric: "Never did us any harm, having no wisdom. Eh?!?!"
Smon:
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: (That is true, Bjornalf only died after having raised his wisdom)
Amalric: (proves the point!)
Smon: Kala: "If there is no one else, you must remain Chief for now. The Wise Women have spoken."
Smon: Vorkes sighs. The mood is sour, the menfolk muttering angrily, but none dare defy the Wise Women of Altanis.
chris107: "Kaag would make a fine chief."
Amalric: having seen some of the barbarian women, Rey opens his mouth to offer his services...then remembers the wisdom part
chris107: "But the wise have spoken."
Smon: Kala looks down her long nose at Hakeem, nods. "Aye."
chris107: He offers Kaag his support and solidarity for the future.
Smon: Kaag rises sadly, accepts Hakeem's support. "Ach... women!!"
Smon: He glares at the Wise-Women. "I hear there are lands where Men rule and the Women obey!"
Smon: Kala catches this, laughs. "Those lands are not Altanis."
Amalric: "And I plan on getting back there very sho....uhm, never mind..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar speaks: And not far there is a town, there Women rule and Men obey.
chris107: "Peace Kaag. Your day will come. You will be a fine chief."
Kjato Ragfoot: Accepting that the world is not what you want it to be is the first step toward becoming wise.
Smon: Kaag nods to Hakeem. Gnubis looks very unhappy, her plan to be Chief's Wife having suffered a major setback. Vorkes: "The Chiefs are gathering soon to make our war-plans. Kaag, Hakeem, you will accompany me."
chris107: yup
chris107: He would like his friends to come along too
Smon: Vorkes turns to Thuruar and Rey. "You two as well."
chris107: "They can help."
Smon: (x-post)
Kjato Ragfoot: Very well.
chris107:
Amalric: "Of course," replies Rey, groaning inwardly
chris107: "Think of it Rey! The loot of an empire!"
Smon: GM: That afternoon, the war-chiefs and their lieutenants assemble for the serious business of planning - Beklomda Mor is not present, her position being an honorary one.
Amalric: "Fair point!"
Smon: However Sarene is there with her lieutenant Coran Greywolf.
Smon: Minars Rapak of Seawolf is there with the Druid Ernsorn Blue.
Smon: And the westerners, including Boulder, the strange metal man, his steel plate scarred from countless wars.
chris107: H nods his silent thanks to sarene
chris107: H looks on with interest at the man of steel.
Smon: The northern and southern chiefs are also there.
Smon: The steel man nods at Hakeem. "Welcome Sword Knight." It pauses. "You remind me of a man - a Sword Knight - I once knew."
Smon: Its voice is oddly calm, low but almost sweet (think Barry White)
chris107:
Smon: "Varek of the Tigerclaw, was his name."
Amalric: "Once? What happened to him?"
Smon: "The Nerathi cut out his heart. His animated corpse marches with their armies. I killed him - it - once - but he rose again. They always rise again."
chris107: Hakeem growls. A lo3w dangerous growl...
Smon: The scarred Mountain Lion chief, Prince Rameses, nods. "He was my friend."
chris107: "He will be avenged."
chris107: "We will avenge him in the flames. Nerath and all it's works we will destroy."
Kjato Ragfoot: (Has Thuruar heard about that kind of magic?)
chris107: "This is Thuruar, A friend and man wise in the ways of warfare."
Smon: Knight Koltan of the Tigerclaw sighs. "I fought with Varek against the Orcs of Arang-Tok. Many there are who should be avenged..."
Smon: make an INT check Thuruar, add prof
chris107: "This is Lord Reynard. ermmmm the narathi women will wail at his coming."
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 9, (+3) = 12
Smon: Boulder & co nod cordially to Thuruar and Rey.
Smon: Boulder: "You have killed many women, Lord Reynard?"
chris107: "Koltan. I would welcome words of your wisdom in time?"
chris107: "Nay wail at the death of their men folk!"
Smon: Thuruar has heard of Necromancy. The Nerathi are rumoured to possess powerful artifacts - the Ring of Nemeia, Demon Empress of Bael Turath - and to wield the power of the Black Sun.
chris107: "Ermmmmmmmm Lord Reynard is a famous bladesman..."
Smon: Koltan nods to Hakeem.
Smon: Rameses: "They say Varek Tigerclaw slew the women of the Nerathi, but let the children live. A mistake. Now we fight those children..."
Smon: He idly scratches a deep facial scar.
Kjato Ragfoot: If their soldiers raise after having being slain, we should find a way to prevent that.
chris107: "We are where we are." says H pragmaticaly
Kjato Ragfoot: Because otherwise, they will outnumber us regardless how few they are.
Amalric: "Oh I can make them scream like no other..." replies Rey
chris107: "The Nerathi and their undead slaves are at our doorstep."
Smon: The war chiefs finish assembling. As commander of the largest host, Minars Rapak of Sea-Wolf speaks first. "Welcome, brothers. Our clans of the West bring grim news. The army of Neo-Nerath is at Hara. Sarene has spotted their ships searching the Korm Basin, for what, we know not..."
Smon: Thuruar make an INT check
chris107: "We need to unite. And ally with the soft Ghinareans to stop this menace."
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 1, (+3) = 4
chris107:
Smon: Thuruar has NO idea what they're looking for either.
chris107: Hakeem
Kjato Ragfoot: (Hey, I am wise, not intelligent!)
chris107: having read the blog carfully
chris107: Knows that they search the Lichway
Smon: Minars turns to Hakeem. "Can you bring the Ghinarians to aid us?"
chris107: for the Lichway.
chris107: The sandlander's ancient hold
Smon: He also looks to Sarene, who shrugs.
chris107: "Minars, If I can not. We have those among us.. (he gestures at Rey) who can."
Smon: GM: Anything you recall from the game yesterday Hakeem can say.
Smon: Minars nods.
chris107: Hakeem regails everyone with the tales of his passing of the Halls of Tizun Thane, the night dancers. And of his learning about the Sandlanders and the Nerathi search for their stronghold.
Kjato Ragfoot: What are Sandlanders?
chris107: Ancient folks from the Korm Basin.
chris107: I passed close by their temples as I went to see my folks.
chris107: I was warned that the Nerathi are searching close by.
Smon: The chiefs listen. Rameses: "We believe the Nerathi plan to march south from Hara to take the Pass of Ractuan from the east. When the Gnomes and our warriors there are gone, then their armies can pour into the valley of the Cedarwade, to Carchimish."
Kjato Ragfoot: If the Nerathi search it, perhaps we should find it first and destroy it.
chris107: We need to fight them on more than one front.
Smon: Sarene nods to Thuruar. "If that is the plan, I believe I can help..." she grins.
chris107: The Pass of Ractuan must stand
Kjato Ragfoot: All help is welcome.
chris107: We must halt their armies.
Smon: Vorkes: "If the Nerathi turn south against Carchimish, Yusan and the Vale, that is good news. It would give us more time."
chris107: While we go to the Sandlander's temple and find what they search for. They would not waste forces on a trivial mission at this time.
Smon: Sarene: "Chiefs of Altanis - I believe I know where the Lichway may be found. I can go there with a party..." she nods to Thuruar, Rey and Hakeem "...and we can stop the Nerathi finding whatever they seek."
chris107: "Hurrah!"
Amalric: "Sounds like a plan, I'm up for that.!
Kjato Ragfoot: I agree.
chris107: We will stop the Nerathi.
chris107: "We will destroy their wickedness for ever. AND LOOT THIER EVERY CITY!"
Smon: Minars nods. "Meanwhile, we must prepare for war - for when they come east."
chris107: "I vow this to Bondorr!"
Amalric: "I'll be happy to follow Sarene's...Sarene's....lead...if she knows where the Lichway lies."
Smon: Koltan smiles faintly at Hakeem. "I admire your determination."
Amalric: Rey's turn to give Sarene a wink
Smon: CHA check Rey
chris107: 20?
Amalric rolls 1d20 and gets: 16,
Amalric: oops
Amalric: but good enough
chris107: hehe not far off!
Smon: Slipping there Rey
Smon:
chris107:
Amalric: +3 for CHA, what else do I add?
Kjato Ragfoot: Just a 21? That is almost digusting.
Amalric: (rusty indeed)
Smon: That's 16+9=25
chris107:
chris107: That solves one dilema Hakeem had
Amalric: you either got it, or you dont got it
Smon: +6 for Persuasion Expertise
chris107: Rey can take the strain
Amalric: ah yes
Smon: GM: Sarene winks back at Rey, and saunters over. "So, Lord Reynard... I've heard a lot about you."
Amalric: "Likewise."
Smon: GM: The chiefs talk some more; the northern & southern chiefs promise aid as time allows.
Smon: Eventually towards evening the meeting breaks up, in time for the feasting and drinking and carrying on...
chris107: Yay!
Smon: Sarene calls you all together.
chris107:
Amalric: carrying on sounds good
Smon: "We should return to my Fortress, ready to sail on the dawn tide."
chris107: H is ready to kill loads of stuff.
Smon:
Smon: Bill requested that.
Smon: brb
chris107:
chris107: Sword Knight at last. Thanks for your help and patience tonight guys
Amalric: "So, Sarene...you a natural redhead...?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Well.
Amalric: not at all Chris, well deserved and hard earned
chris107: heh
Amalric: Rey will take Sarene off your list of troubles as his reward for speaking up for you
Kjato Ragfoot: Hakeem earned his swordknightship when slaying that dragon.
chris107: hehe many thanks !
Smon: bill says ummmmm why did you put that emoji chris107
chris107: He had help Kjato.
Smon: (back)
chris107: The Knight one?
chris107: or the stabby one?
chris107: Hakeem uses only blades. Bill used a bludgeon
Amalric:
chris107: The Knight one as he's finally earned his place as a Sword Knight
Smon: Bill says cool
chris107:
Smon: Rey: "So, Sarene...you a natural redhead...?" Sarene grins: "You better believe it!"
Smon: GM: As dusk falls you bid the Clan Moot farewell and saddle up with Sarene & her men, riding the six miles or so south to the coast and her well-concealed fortress lair.
Smon: A hidden gate leads down into cavernous halls, at the bottom of which is a complete hidden dockside, where two great ships sit at anchor.
Smon: Sarene: "Of course now you've seen this, I'll hafta kill ya... one day."
chris107:
Smon: She grins, but it's far from clear she's kidding.
chris107: Hakeem grins, half daring her to try...
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. Since you have seen it yourself, will you have to kill yourself one day as well?
Smon: OOC will be stopping in a few minutes, will post log but I'll try to get back on before 10pm to continue.
chris107: "We work far better together Lady Sarane...."
Smon: CHA check Thuruar
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 3, (+2) = 5
chris107: Gosh Kjato!
Kjato Ragfoot: (I am rolling really bad today)
chris107:
Amalric: "One day is fine, we're in no hurry for that."
Smon: Sarene ignores Thuruar, nods to Hakeem.
chris107: let's hope your luck changes for the better next half
chris107: So back at 10?
chris107: I'll grab a sandwich.
Smon: Sarene escorts you to your guest quarters. "...I'm not sure the Nerathi will do what the Chiefs expect... have you heard of Nera? The old Nerathi capital?"
Kjato Ragfoot: No.
chris107: yup
chris107: Hera now/
chris107: or something likje?
Smon: "The ruins lie on the coast, about thirty miles south of here. Area's over-run with Gnolls..."
Smon: "The Gedden Plain, where the Gnolls of White Ruin destroyed the army of Nerath. It's sacred to the Nerathi. They'd give anything to get it back..."
chris107: "Then we must keep it from them."
Amalric: "Guest quarters?" says Rey, suitably off-topic
Smon: She reaches the door to your room. "Seems to me, they have a big army now right at Hara, nothing but a few hundred Gnolls to stop them marching east and taking Nera right now."
chris107: "Do we stop their hopes at the Lichway or .... Bondorr forbid aid the Gnolls?"
Smon: Sarene opens the door to a frugal four-bed room. "Your quarters."
Smon: OOC: ok stopping for now.
Pt 2
9:20pm 2015-10-23 Smon Has entered the room
Smon: >>Smon: She reaches the door to your room. "Seems to me, they have a big army now right at Hara, nothing but a few hundred Gnolls to stop them marching east and taking Nera right now." chris107: "Do we stop their hopes at the Lichway or .... Bondorr forbid aid the Gnolls?" Smon: Sarene opens the door to a frugal four-bed room. "Your quarters."<<
Smon: Inside is a small and musty four-bed room.
Smon: Sarene: "Sleep tight, we sail at dawn!"
chris107: Nice to be looked after
Smon: You all retire?
Amalric: "Is that it? Anywhere comfier?"
chris107: yup
Smon: Sarene: "There are comfier places..."
Amalric: we were just talking about that!
Amalric: "Well this lot will be fine, they dont mind. Me..."
Amalric: "I like a decent pillow to lay my head, or perhaps two..."
Smon: Sarene: "Oh? Not suitable for your refined tastes? I'll see what I can do..."
Smon: Sarene beckons Rey and leads him to her lavishly appointed boudoir...
Smon: Gold, silks, brocade, the loot of dozens of raids.
Amalric: "Good night, chaps! Sleep well!"
Smon: A veritable Aladdin's cave...
chris107: G'night Rey!
Smon: Sarene: "Rrrrrr..."
Amalric: "A man could get used to this lifestyle..."
Smon: Sarene is already ripping off poor Rey's clothes - she means to ravish him!
Smon: :-O
Amalric: Unless she has fangs, Rey only fights playfully
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, had you taken the other room, you would have at least kept your clothes. This way, you are going to lose everything.
Smon: No fangs, although a weretigress might be more gentle... make a CON save.
Amalric rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 11, (+3) = 14
Smon: +3 prof +2 CON = 16.
Amalric: or is it less? CON 14 anyway
Smon: Next morning Rey emerges, battered but unbowed!
Amalric: sorry thought CON was 16 for a moment
chris107: hehe
Amalric: grinning like the proverbial cat :D:D:D:D
Smon: As dawn breaks over the eastern sea, Sarene's ship Lady Spite emerges from its hidden cavern-quay and as the wind catches her white sails, speeds across the gleaming ocean/
chris107: Hakeem breathes in the salt air. He likes a sea voyage.
Kjato Ragfoot: Thuruar seems to be not very happy on the ship. At least he longingly looks at the shore the whole time.
Smon: Sarene steers the ship in sight of the western cliffs, thirty miles south she points out the high, vine-wrapped ruins of a fallen city along the shore. "Nera."
chris107: H makes a mental note
Amalric: Rey normally spends sea trips honking his guts up over the side of the ship, but he appears to have gained sea-legs overnight
Smon: Here and there smoke trails rise from the tumbled marble halls - the Gnolls of the Ruin Horde still dwell here.
Smon: A faint light gleams in the highest bastion of the royal palace.
Smon: Sarene: "That's the Flame Imperishable, symbol of the Nerathi Empire. I hear the gnolls use it to roast their meat."
chris107: H spits over the side.
chris107: "Then that is where we should start."
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. What is this Flame Imperishable about?
Smon: Sarene: "The first Nerath emperor, Magroth, killed a dragon and took its fire, lit the flame. They say it burns until the end of the world..." The lookout calls out: "Cap'n! Air Sharks off the Port Bow!"
Smon: Sarene turns, grinning. "Ah, a little action..."
chris107: Hakeem grins and fetches his sword and shield
Amalric: "And we all like a little action, don't we?" grins Rey
Smon: Closing rapidly on your vessel, you see three immense deep red forms, each 30' long, maws bristling with hundreds of teeth.
Smon: They seem to swim through the air itself, set on scooping pirates from the decks of your ship.
chris107:
Amalric: "Gird your loins, chaps!"
chris107: Hakeem girds his Lions
Smon: Sarene yells orders; men grab crossbows and axes. From the rear of the ship a ballista is hurriedly loaded and fired.
Smon: /roll d20+5
Smon rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 11, (+5) = 16

Amalric: TWANG
chris107: H prepares to centre his rage if they get closer
Smon: The shark seems undeterred. Sarene yells to the X-bowmen as they come in range. "That one! Kill that one!"
Smon: A dozen crossbows fire...
Smon: /roll d20+4x12

chris107: Berserking next time, yes? Or start this round?
Smon: Hakeem got 2 hits
chris107: Yup
Amalric: heh, sorry
Smon: Hm, technically you could only Rage this round, so 2 attacks, 1st missed so 1 hit
chris107: I'll leave it to you
Smon: Actually no I think you could have Raged, held it, then attacked ok, so 2 hits
chris107:
Smon: It's a bit technical
Amalric: (not sure why I thought for a moment that I got +8d6 at level 8!)
Smon: Hakeem roll dmg
chris107: I thought I had?
Smon: I see it - 21, thx
chris107: chris107 rolls 2d8+16 and gets: 2, 3, (+16) = 21
Smon: OK, the sharks have taken 112 & 107 damage.
chris107: Big sharkses!
Smon: Deciding to seek easier prey, they Disengage, swooping over the ship and diving into the waters of Vigil Sound.
Smon: Sarene smiles happily, shaking her boat spear. "You better run!"
chris107: hehe
Smon: She notes the blood and gore spattered on the deck.
Smon: "Someone clean that up!"
Smon: Sarene turns to Rey, adjusting her bandana. "Good little fight before lunch... And they only took one man."
Amalric: "Nice to work up a sweat, this time of day..."
Smon: Sarene winks.
chris107: "Darn shame we couldn't bring one in. They look tasty."
Amalric: "Not to mention an appetite..."
Smon: Sarene: "There's tack in the hold..." The ship speeds on across Vigil Sound.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Smon: To the west, over Nerath territory, you see a storm is coming in.
Smon: Lightning flashes, and you hear the distant roll of thunder,
Smon: But here on the open ocean the sun still shines.
Kjato Ragfoot: Bondor wants to chat with Hakeem again, it seems.
chris107: H subconciously touches his Bondorr symbol. (Remembering he still is inspired )
Smon: By nightfall you have rounded the Gedden cliffs and are approaching the Korm basin.
chris107: (Hold on tight chaps, just going to take you to the door step for a ciggie )
Smon: Sarene: "We run dark... no lights tonight."
Smon: OOC will stop in a moment.
Amalric: ok
Smon: The ship sails on across the moonlit waters of the Korm Basin.
Smon: You get a little sleep, in shifts, and Sarene takes time to bring Rey to her cabin for a quickie...
chris107: (OOC, very earlt D&D memories here )
Amalric: Rey acquiesces
Amalric:
Smon: (Yeah, I know you know this adventure - feel free to have Hakeem heard some old wives' tails)
chris107:
Smon: It's a couple hours before dawn as you near the southern cliffs, somewhere between Clear Meadows and Cahli.
Smon: Expertly navigating the ship through outlying rocks, Sarene points out a dark area beneath the cliffs. "There... We'll set anchor here and use the Ship's Boat."
Smon: She turns to Rey, Hakeem and Thuruar, eyes bright. "Welcome to the Lichway."
Smon: ~end for now~
chris107: Hakeem flexes the cramps out of his sword arm.
