Kjato Ragfoot: Hello
Smon: Hi Kjato
Smon: I'll just get a coffee and we'll see if anyone else turns up.
Kjato Ragfoot: All right.
Smon: If it's just you, we could do a return visit to Dyson's Delve where you killed the hobgoblin captain?
Smon: With Kogor the dwarf?
Kjato Ragfoot: Sure. I would not mind.
Smon: Or anything else you'd like to do?
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. I do not know very much else about the setting, to be true.
Smon: Well the main page is here - http://smons.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/the-ghinarian-hills-campaign-labyrinth.html
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah. We are near Verius?
Smon: You've just acquired your house in Selatine, plus elderly housekeeper. You could eg go explore the islands instead.
Smon: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlyye5Qps6Hdz1qFStWiS5Urm8Jil6flnVNc4t1bXZU7noar3SrW8m_Z6wrUxaEdQLghJ-OkiSoQTqH4xX_zUsPaaeZOoGWWYvv8m_208UwnAutifKoKZdUYmu7z_4HM28lvVNdP-x3dE/s640/Selatine+Area.bmp
Smon: From Selatine there are tracks west to the ruins of Thracia and south-west to Oriax's tower and Dyson's Delve.
Smon: aka Ulther's Crypt.
Smon: not on the map, it's just north of Oriax's tower.
Kjato Ragfoot: The Ghuls are just places where monsters meet?
Smon: "Transparent-fleshed humans (ghuls) "
Smon: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDlIfvDJsghllNTQS1f-6R2l016ND6p8eMXAgAwN5hj2Y19K0lxvcRxPocrcRrVtlQzC-60j-bvbNo8NVrNkvf788hUjD4cIrIbR58SInjAWYxX3lu6pURjeI4xB-LjXssjumbUpN52Is/s200/Ghinarian+Hills+Ghul.png
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah. The Grey Mousling Ghuls.
Smon: Yup. They are nocturnal as the sun burns them, they live in caves and come out at night to hunt.
Smon: The Ghinarian humans fear them, they are rumoured to eat people.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. I like the idea of exploring the islands. After all, I am a sailor warlock.
Kjato Ragfoot: And people eating ghuls are probably better tackled with more suppor.
Smon: Lord Vex will lend you his ship and a couple warriors if you'd like to explore the islands, with the understanding you'll (a) report back and (b) share any treasure with him.
Kjato Ragfoot: That sounds fair. Does he send a mapper along?
Smon: Take a look at the two big 15 mile/hex maps. The nearest isles to Selatine are Greenlight (said to be inhabited by cannibals), Oggian with its statue of the Sea God they call Neptune, Dread - home of the slumbering dragon Matriarx, and Dzian, where a great Roc nests.
Kjato Ragfoot: That way he will also get an updated map of the island.
Smon: To the south are Blue Phoenix Isle, Rian Island, and others.
Kjato Ragfoot: Neptune statue sounds good. One could create a route for pilgrims, that would make income.
Smon: Priestess Chelarre is interested in joining you with her men - she's getting slightly bored waiting out the Rainy Season in Selatine.
Smon: Chelarre you may recall is the Nerathi priestess-emissary who has promised Lord Vex aid against evil warlord Yusan come the dry season, in 3-4 months.
Kjato Ragfoot: Of course. The more, the merrier.
Smon: Chelarre: "I also have some skill at mapping..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Very good. That will help in drawing a good map of the island for Lord Vex
Kjato Ragfoot: Hopefully she will still be able to support Vex after this voyage.
Smon: The Isle of Oggian lies some 90 miles from Selatine, further offshore than most sailors have gone, so Lord Vex asks Happy Iocunnu, Selatine's most experienced sailor, to act as your navigator. Happy is happy to accept.
Kjato Ragfoot: Are there any rumours about the island of Ogigian? I would frequent some sailor inns to learn about then.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. The map says "mermen" - are there any rumours about them? What kind of gifts do they like?
Smon: The Redeye is basically the only real inn in Selatine, but there are some small drinking holes down at the docks, Bjornalf asks around both...
Smon: Happy himself proves a font of knowledge. "Aye, the Mermen and their Mer-maids! Wild and fierce as the ocean, pretty as the summer sky!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Sounds like a loveable combination.
Smon: "They have no forges under the sea, they always appreciate gifts of metals - silver, gold especially for the maids, and bronze weapons that don't rust for the men."
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. Bjornalf will buy bronze weapons and some silver jewelry.
Smon: Happy: "If they want to trade, there'll be a buoy out - they ain't got much, usually some bits of coral jewelry and plenty of fresh fish!"
Smon: Bjornalf buys weapons from the local forge, and some jewelry - how much are you spending, if you have any money left?
Kjato Ragfoot: Coral sounds good, that is not that common on land. Also, we can ask for their support, they will know the currents and other dangerous places.
Kjato Ragfoot: I have 100 gp left, I will spent 80 of those.
Kjato Ragfoot: Probably some armlets for the females and some bronze weapons for the male.
Smon: GM: OK, you stock up on 80gp of trade goods.
Smon: /roll d100
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets: 060606,
Smon: Lord Vex's ship the Arcadia has a crew of 10, local sailors, they don't seem very experienced, plus Happy.
Smon: The ship itself is not fast, but does seem stout and seaworthy.
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, Bjornalf and Happy are experienced, we can train them a bit on our way.
Smon: /roll d100
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets: 242424,
Smon: The senior sailor is Janu, a morose fellow, quite the opposite of Happy Iocunnu.
Smon: You wait for good weather and a favourable tide. One sunny morning the ship prepares to disembark, with you, Chelarre and her 4 men as the passengers/explorers, Happy and the 10 sailors for crew.
Smon: You are Captain, sorry.
Kjato Ragfoot: I will go easy for the first day, so that Happy and I can assess the crew's abilities.
Kjato Ragfoot: And do some training sessions.
Smon: You finish loading supplies, Happy hopes you can reach the Isle in two days if the good weather keeps up.
Kjato Ragfoot: Optimism, I like that.
Smon: You cast off from Selatine on the tide, heading east-south-east.
Smon: Soon the winking light of Oriax's tower can be seen afar off to the sw, warning of dangerous shoals.
Smon: The coast slips away behind you, a stiff breeze blowing.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 44,
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah. The sea. A bride easy to be won but hard to please.
Smon: You make good time, and it is still daylight, with the sunset reddening the sky, when your lookout spots the brightly coloured buoy ahead, just a bit to starboard.
Smon: Happy nods: "The Mermen are out!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, let's greet them then.
Smon: As you near the buoy and slow a muscular bearded figure emerges from the water, waving a trident.
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will wave back (without trident, of course)
Smon: He calls out: "Hail, land-folk! I am Merassh! What do you bring?"
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 11,
Kjato Ragfoot: Hail Merassh! I bringt bronze and silver to trade and questions to ask. Bjornalf Brighteyes is my name.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 66,
Smon: Merassh nods. "Do you have gemstones?!"
Smon: Happy sighs. "Last time it was metal they wanted... a flighty folk."
Smon: Merassh: "Some of your fine Opals, perhaps?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Alas, I gave all my opals as a gift to the Ocean herself and there are none left! I dared not bring you the same gift as her out of feat that it might anger her!
Smon: Several more mermen emerge from the sea around your ship, you notice they are carrying some type of heavy crossbow, though they're careful not to aim them at your ship.
Smon: /roll d20+5
Smon rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 1515, (+5) = 20
Smon: Merassh smiles. "You are the Warlock of the Queen! The fish brought whispers of you... Welcome."
Smon: He nods to a young merman who raises a sack made of sea-weed and swims towards you.
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf bows thankfully.
Smon: Merassh: "Our gift for you - coral, and pearls..."
Smon: Iocunnu nudges Bjornalf. "He'll be expectin' a gift back, of course."
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf takes the sacks with his goods and brings them to the young merman.
Kjato Ragfoot: I hope you take my gifts in return, wrought silver and hammered bronze.
Smon: Merassh nods. "Most certainly." Happy lowers your own gift-bag over the side while a sailor hauls up theirs.
Smon: Merassh opens your bag, nodding. "The mer-maids will like this jewelry..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will open the bag, take a look and reply: "The land-maids will like your gifts, I am sure of it."
Smon: Inside the mer-bag is a good-sized pile of decorative coral ca 200gp value, and 6 good size white pearls, ca 35gp each.
Smon: So ca 410gp total.
Kjato Ragfoot: Wow!
Smon: Merassh: "What news from land?"
Smon: Priestess Chelarre turns to Bjornalf: "I would like to talk to these Mer-folk, tell them that the Light of Nerath is returning here, and that they would be welcome in the Restored Empire."
9:27am 2015-4-24 atherton Has entered the room
atherton: Hi Simon, Kjato, just observing
Kjato Ragfoot: You are welcome, Chelarre. You are free to talk to anyone as long as it does not imperil our journey.
Smon: hi ath - Bjornalf is doing a sea voyage to explore the locality.
Kjato Ragfoot: The last I heard the deathwalkers of Thracia are losing against the beastman and start turning to desperate measures.
Kjato Ragfoot: Recently, they tried to wake an ancient sorcerer but were thwarted.
Kjato Ragfoot: Lord Vex and Warlord Yusan still feud with each other.
Smon: Chelarre nods, smiling, and calls out to the mermen: "Greetings! I am Chelarre Foxwood, Priestess of Erathis and Emissary of Nerath Restored! I bring glad tidings! The Light of Nerath is returning here. Your people would be welcome in our Restored Empire."
Smon: Merassh listens with interest to both of you.
Kjato Ragfoot: Also, Lord Vex sent us to the Island of Ogiagni, to explore it and pay hommage to Neptune near his statue.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 1010,
Smon: Merassh nods. "A ship from the south is there now. It has been there two days."

Smon: "The sailors went ashore to the great statue."
Smon: Happy: "Any other news of the ocean?" Merassh: "A band of Merrow, the corrupted spawn of Demogorgon, have been drawn to the coast east of the Vale. The wise men say it is because the Citadel of Water has become corrupted by your warlord Yusan. Last month they raided Lygol port, carrying off many humans."
Smon: "Otherwise the waters are peaceful."
Kjato Ragfoot: That is bad news. Hopefully, the Citadel of Water can be cleansed one day.
Kjato Ragfoot: It was a pleasure to talk with you, Merassh, but we need to be on our way. We do not want to worry those left on land due to a belated return.
Smon: Merassh nods agreement. "One day the Queen of Ocean will cleanse the Citadel, and the clean waters will return." The merman chats some more of inconsequential matters, apparently his daughter Seshana will soon be married. Happy tells him that his own daughter Alauna has a new job serving at Redeye Inn. Then Happy turns to Bjornalf and Chelarre: "Shall we be off?"
Smon: You bid them farewell and sail on as day turns to night and the southern stars shine overhead.
Kjato Ragfoot: Note to self: Remind Lord Vex to send a wedding gift for Seshena.
Smon: Here in these southron waters you are under the sign of Pasperus, God of the Southern Stars.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 66,
Smon: Eventually you withdraw for the night...
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 1313,
Smon: As dawn comes up, your lookout spots floating debris in the water off the starboard bow.
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's stay clear of it, but double the lookout.
Smon: Off to port in the distance you can just see the green humps of several small islands, and a larger hump beyond - Greenlight Isle, known to be inhabited by a savage tribe of Altanian cannibals.
Smon: Bjornalf shouts orders and you heel well away from the debris, what looks to be the remains from a ship, perhaps a merchantman much like your own boat.
Smon: Happy: "Looks recent, but no big storm the past week... Could be the work of those Merrows the Mer-Chief told us of." He makes a sign against evil.
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf nods.
Smon: /roll 2d6
Smon rolls 2d6 and gets: 44, 55, = 9
Smon: A strong breeze is blowing from the north, close to perfect weather for you as the ship steers south-eastwards at faster than normal speed.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 55,
Smon: It is only mid-afternoon, nearly 3 hours until nightfall, when you near Oggian Isle. On the north side of the Isle a great statue of the ancient sea god Neptune stands over 150' high, trident pointing out to sea, and you see a large merchant ship moored in the sandy bay below, a ship's boat drawn up on the beach.
Smon: The statue itself stands on a lowish cliff above the bay. Most of the Isle appears green and forested.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm.
Smon: Janu looks to Bjornalf. "Do we approach?"
Smon: Happy: "A big ship - at least twice our crew, plus any marines... Probably out of Rallu I'd reckon."
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes. They will have already spotted us, running will just make them suspicious.
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's hope they are not hostile.
Kjato Ragfoot: But better safe than sorry and anchor a little further into the sea then them.
Smon: As you enter the bay you see a few men on board deck the larger ship, watching your approach, and more on the beach around a campfire, a couple tents raised there.
Smon: How far off do you plan to anchor?
Kjato Ragfoot: (What is our ship' name, by the way?)
9:59am 2015-4-24 atherton Has exited the room
Kjato Ragfoot: Just two ships length away from the other ship, so as to have a little advantage if we have to flee, but close enough that it just seems as a precaution against the ships ramming each other due to waves.
Smon: Your ship is The Arcadia.
Kjato Ragfoot: Can we spot the others ship's name?
Smon: As you near you can make out the name plate, the "Hale & Hearty" it says.
Kjato Ragfoot: Has any of our crew ever heard this name?
Smon: A big, bearded man of Ghinoran appearance in the bright colours of Rallu comes on deck, and hails you: "Hello there!!"
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 11,
Smon: nope
Kjato Ragfoot: Ahoi!
Kjato Ragfoot: This is The Arcadia from Selantine, on our way to pay hommage to Lord Neptune.
Smon: "And I am Eldam Alamsor, captain of this fine vessel! Pleased to meet you!"
Smon: /roll d20+6
Smon rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 88, (+6) = 14
Kjato Ragfoot: It is our pleasure!
Smon: Eldam smiles broadly. "Would you like to come aboard? I'd welcome news of these parts."
Kjato Ragfoot: How could I deny such an invitation! Let me just see to the save anchoring of the ship and I will come aboard.
Smon: OOC: You know the Ghinoran Sea Kings of Rallu particularly revere Neptune, who they call Poseidon.
Kjato Ragfoot: That would explain why they are here.
Smon: You confirm that your anchor is well set and can ready your ship's boat to row over to them. Chelarre: "May I accompany you, Sir Bjornalf?"
Smon: "I shall bring two of my men also, if that is alright."
Kjato Ragfoot: I tell our crew they may go ashore once they secured the boat, but should stay clear from the Rallunians as not to disturb their religious rites.
Kjato Ragfoot: I am sure Captain Eldam won't mind you and your fellows coming along.
Smon: The sailors nod to Bjornalf. Happy: "Tis terrible luck for any of us Ghinorans to use treachery here under the statue of Neptune, so I hope we'll all be peaceful like..."
Smon: Two of your sailors row you, Chelarre and two of her men over to the larger boat, the Ralluites help you aboard and your own boat returns to the Arcadia to take men ashore.
Smon: Eldam looks Chelarre (in white gown & Erathis Black Sun pendant) over, smiling broadly. "Welcome, beautiful one!"
Smon: Eldam bows to you both, Chelarre smiles back and curtsies.
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf bows in return.
Smon: Eldam: "Come to my cabin and we shall talk, I have some excellent mage-wine from far Tula..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Gladly.
Smon: "The cabin is a little cramped I fear, your guards had best remain on deck."
Smon: Chelarre looks a little uncertain, but nods.
Smon: Eldam leads you towards the back of the ship, beckoning to an odd figure in red robes splashed with stars, old but very tall, bald, with jet black skin.
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. A Wise Man from the far lands?
Smon: You regard the wise man - there is a bronzy sheen to his skin, and his eyes are odd... You realise there is some kind of transparent membrane over the eyes themselves.
Smon: Eldam nods. "This is Varnko Witherspell, my ship's mage." Varnko nods to Bjornalf.
Smon: /roll d20+1
Smon rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 1414, (+1) = 15
Smon: Bjornalf senses an aura of considerable arcane power from Varnko, not the normal petty conjurer you find on many boats.
Kjato Ragfoot: If I may introdruce: Priestess Chelarre Foxwood from Selanti, and I am Bjornalf Brighteyes, Captain of the Arcadia.
Smon: Varnko speaks, smiling slightly. "I am of the Dorin race." His voice sounds like the desert wind.
Smon: Eldam: "Charmed, indeed." Chelarre smiles: "I bring greetings from the empire of Restored Nerath. Civilisation is returning to Barbarian Altanis after more than two hundred years."
Kjato Ragfoot: The dorin? Then I know even less of your people then I thought.
Smon: Varnko nods. "Indeed."
Smon: Eldam: "Let us go below."
Smon: He leads you into his cabin at the rear of the ship, an armed guard with sword & red sash is standing just outside, and Chelarre's two men take up positions there too.

Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will offer Cherelle a seat and then sits himself.
Smon: Eldam serves you all wine, then takes a sip himself, the wraith-forms swirl & sparkle. "Excellent."
Smon: Priestess Chelarre takes a sip, her eyes widen. "Amazing!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf curiously looks the wine swirling and sparkling, clearly astonished.
Smon: The Dorin mage also sips lightly. Eldam waits for Bjornalf to drink.
Smon: "Tula the Mage-City has many wonders. This is but one."
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf swirls his cup a bit to see how the wine reacts on influences.
Kjato Ragfoot: I have to go there one day. This is marvelous.
Smon: As Bjornald swirls it the patterns tighten and darken into a sort of whirlpool effect.
Smon: "Aye, it is worth seeing, second only to my own city of Rallu."
Smon: You drink?
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will experiment some while long before taking a sip.
Kjato Ragfoot: Unless someone tries to urge him.
Smon: Eldam waits patiently. Bjornalf sips - it is exquisite, far better than anything the groves of Ossary produce. There was once a green Viridian wine that might almost compare... but it had a sour note to the aftertaste.
Kjato Ragfoot: Astonishing.
Smon: Light and delicate, it dances across the palate.
Smon: Eldam smiles happily.
Smon: "My friends, I confess I am almost a stranger in these parts. My normal voyage is to the Silver Skein Isles and south to Tula, not north beyond Oricha into Altanis. I must ask questions..."
Kjato Ragfoot: I am but a stranger myself, but ask ahead - I will answer any question I can.
Smon: "...In particular, the matter of piracy. It is right that a dread pirate by name of Tsamar sails these waters, slaughtering honest merchantmen and seizing their boats?"
Smon: OOC Tsamar & both her ships are actually docked at Selatine right now! Normally she bases out of Ahyf.
Kjato Ragfoot: Tsamar? I heard this name. She is a rather infamous pirate indeed, operating out of Ahyf.
Smon: Chelarre presumably knows the answer, but looks to Bjornalf.
Smon: Eldam nods.
Smon: Eldam looks into his wine. "It seems to me, Priestess Chelarre, that in the rebuilding of your Empire of Nerath, there will be no place for such trash."
Smon: Chelarre nods. "Indeed. Nerath means peace, civilisation, trade..."
Smon: Eldam nods. "So we are in agreement. You see, Tsamar has something of value to me..."
Smon: He looks up at Bjornalf. "My cousin, the Lady Lucretia Alamsor. Her pleasure yacht was sacked, and she was seized. We waited for a ransom demand, but none came."
Kjato Ragfoot: I have heard Tsaram has a ... personal interest in rich ladies.
Smon: Eldam's expression darkens as he nods to Bjornalf. Bjornalf recalls seeing Tsamar in the Redeye just two days past, using a collared and naked blonde as her footstool - this Lucretia?
Smon: /roll d20+3
Smon rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 1313, (+3) = 16
Smon: In fact, Bjornalf recalls her referred to by that name, by Tsamar and the gloating thug who captains her second ship, the Sea Queen.
Smon: Eldam: "I am charged with recovering Lucretia, and showing Tsamar that the House Alamsor is not to be dishonoured."
Kjato Ragfoot: Lucretia. I heard rumours she had a slave of that name, to be used for the lowliest works.
Smon: Eldam winces.
Kjato Ragfoot: Also I heard, she is not into it for the money, but to quell her thirst for revenge on the aristocracy.
Smon: "Captain Bjornalf, I sense that you are an honourable man. We are not a poor House. Assist me, and you shall be greatly rewarded... Revenge on the aristocracy?"
Kjato Ragfoot: I heard she was child to a noble, but he disowned her for some reason. Said she is related to the lords of Trade.
Smon: Chelarre is listening attentively. "Pirates are scum... And this Tsamar appears one of the worst. She must pay for her crimes."
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 1111,
Kjato Ragfoot: I am just an explorer, how should I be able to stand against the queen of pirates?
Smon: "Trade? An Antillian name?"
Kjato Ragfoot: I do not know much about languages and names. Priestess Cherelle, can you say more about Trade?
Smon: Eldam glowers. "Antillians... As merchants they are ruthless. As pirates they are worse... Captain, I do not ask you to stand against Tsamar alone. Merely lead me to her."
Smon: Chelarre nods. "I have met Tarcon, Lord of Trade. It is an Antillian village east of Ahyf Town. There are rumours Tsamar is Tarcon's sister... Antillian women are not supposed to captain ships, or do anything but serve men."
Smon: Chelarre: "But Tsamar is a renegade. Her power base is Ahyf. She brings much wealth to Ahyf, so the Elders there overlook how it is gained."
Smon: Eldam drinks a little wine. "Would Tsamar be in Ahyf now, do you think?"
Kjato Ragfoot: The last I heard, she was in Selantine - but that was several days ago.
Kjato Ragfoot: I have no idea where she might be now.
Kjato Ragfoot: Probably somewhere at sea.
Kjato Ragfoot: If you are to confront her, I would suggest befriending one of the local small port authorities.
Smon: "Selatine - the small port west of here, on the Ghinarian coast. Hm. Should we go there?"
Kjato Ragfoot: You could try. I found Lord Vex a honourable man, with an interest in sea trade.
Smon: Chelarre: "I have some influence with the Lord of Selatine... As Bjornalf says, Lord Vex is honourable, and committed to the restoration of Law."
Kjato Ragfoot: You should disguise yourselfs though - if Tsamars knows who you are and why you are there, she will either avoid the place or raid you while you are trying to ambush her.
Smon: Eldam nods. "It is settled then - we will go there now, but no flag of Alamsor or Rallu will we fly."
Kjato Ragfoot: Do you have any unmarried relatives? I know that Lord Vex is looking for a husband for his daughter, pretending to visit him on this matter would be a good disguise.
Kjato Ragfoot: Sister, not daughter
Kjato Ragfoot: Pretend to be a wealthy merchant wanting to marry into nobility.
Smon: Eldam smiles. "I am unmarried, as it happens. I had a fiancee once... but the yellow sickness took her. The priests could do nothing."
Smon: "I will not lie to your Lord Vex. Honour deserves honour, just as dishonour deserves dishonour. But certainly I would be happy to meet his doubtless charming sister."
Kjato Ragfoot: Tell the truth to Lord Vex, he most likely will help you.
Kjato Ragfoot: But do not tell anyone else, Tsaram pays well and has many friends.
Smon: Eldam finishes his wine. "We of Alamsor are both Merchant AND Noble - we are not like your northern lords, who disdain trade." He smiles.
Kjato Ragfoot: Your country amazes me more and more.
Smon: "Dine with me tonight, and tomorrow we sail for Selatine. Point me to Tsamar, if she is still there, and I will do the rest. If not we will meet with Lord Vex and make plans."
Kjato Ragfoot: Very well.
Smon: OOC stopping shortly.
Kjato Ragfoot: If Priestess Foxwood does not object, I will gladly except your invitation.
Smon: GM: You dine that night at the Captain's table; Eldam also invites over your officers Happy Iocunnu and Janu, and you enjoy an excellent repast.
Smon: Some sailors have left offerings for good fortune at the feet of Neptune-Poseidon, Chelarre seems more interested in Eldam.
Smon: /roll 1d20+6
Smon rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 1313, (+6) = 19
Smon: You notice a lot of food being taken below. Eldam looks thoughtful, then gives an order to his first mate: "These people are friends. Tell the Marines they can come on deck."
Smon: There is a lot of commotion as fifty red-sashed Marines come out from the cargo hold onto the Hale & Hearty's broad deck.
Smon: Happy watches them go past, whispers to Bjornalf: "Wouldn't fancy fighting this lot!"
Smon: During dinner Chelarre chats intensively with Captain Eldam, turning on the charm. After dinner you return to your own ship.
Smon: Are you leading the Hale & Hearty back to Selatine the next day?
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf answers "me neither"
Kjato Ragfoot: I will ask if it would be all right if Priestess Chelarre was to lead them back to Selatine, as we are on orders of Lord Vex to chart the island.
Kjato Ragfoot: Also, it seems she wants some lone time with him.
Smon: Chelarre nods. "That seems an excellent idea. I know Tsamar enough to point her out to you." Eldam nods too. "Very well, In that case I will bid you farewell Sir Bjornalf, with my heartfelt thanks. A gift..."
Smon: He turns to the Dorin mage, speaks in a strange tongue. The mage nods.
Smon: /roll d100
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets: 010101,
Smon: The wizard produces a scroll.
Smon: Eldam: "You are a man of magic, Bjornalf, I sense. This is a spell-scroll, from Tula."
Kjato Ragfoot: That is a great gift, thank you very much!
Smon: /roll d12
Smon rolls 1d12 and gets: 11,
Smon: /roll d12
Smon rolls 1d12 and gets: 44,
Smon: Varnko the old Dorin mage speaks: "It holds two spells, of the 8th rank. Such magic is not to be used lightly, and requires lengthy preparation. One spell secures you against all Magics. The other gives control of the weather, to calm storms or raise a hurricane."
Kjato Ragfoot: Wow. Bjornalfs fails to find words that match this gift.
Smon: "Know that each may be employed but once. Use them carefully."
Kjato Ragfoot: I will.
Smon: Varnko hands over the scroll; as promised it holds two spells of Level 8 - Antimagic Field & Control Weather.
Smon: /roll 2d6
Smon rolls 2d6 and gets: 66, 33, = 9
Smon: The weather remains unchanged next morning with a stiff breeze and sunshine, as Chelarre & her men depart aboard the Hale & Hearty bound for Selatine, leaving Bjornalf to explore the Isle of Oggian...
Smon: GM: ok stopping there for now, will calc XP.
Smon: If you want to do any parting words that is ok.
Kjato Ragfoot: No, nothing to say right now.
Kjato Ragfoot: Except for "Good luck, I hope you safe your sister"
Smon: OOC super smart sending Chelarre with Eldam, you (a) avoid blame whatever happens (b) avoid the risk of one of your crew betraying Eldam to Tsamar, if that is a concern.
Kjato Ragfoot: And (c) I avoid drawing the ire of Tsamar.
Smon: Chelarre smiles warmly to Bjornalf. "It has been a pleasure sailing with you. I'll see you safe back in Selatine."
Smon: (That's (a))
Smon: I'll post log.
Kjato Ragfoot: All right. Next game this evening?
Smon: Yup, 6.30pm start.
Kjato Ragfoot: Will try to be there.
Smon: Dunno how to handle it exactly w 2 PCs in Thracia & you at Oggian.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. True. That could be a problem.
Kjato Ragfoot: Nonetheless, fun adventure.
Smon: Probably a fairly early rendezvous in Selatine is best, depending who shows.
Kjato Ragfoot: Or I take over an NPC for that session. We will find a solution.
Smon: Or I don't mind retconning that there are PCs in your crew, they were just a bit seasick.
Kjato Ragfoot: Good idea.
Smon: We can ask what people prefer.
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's do that.
Smon: ok cool, see you tonight!
