9:37am 2015-4-17 Kjato Ragfoot Has entered the room
9:37am 2015-4-17 Amalric Has entered the room
Amalric: This room seems...bigger
Kjato Ragfoot: Much more spacey, indeed.
9:38am 2015-4-17 efnisien Has entered the room
9:38am 2015-4-17 chris107 Has entered the room
Smon:
chris107: Ah yes much roomier in here.
Smon: ok that's 5 of us, & room for ath & a few lurkers etc.
9:39am 2015-4-17 atherton Has entered the room
chris107: HP back to maximum after a week or two's carousing?
chris107: Hi Athers
atherton: just observing
efnisien: Hi Ath
chris107: Nor Tor?
chris107: We're about to go through the ancient secret door.
atherton: dinner in half an hour
atherton: it would have to be a cameo
Smon: Hi ath! Yup you have enjoyed a week of celebrations in Selatine, with Hakeem & Rey among the honoured Heroes of Thracia for their part in recovering the long-lost golden statue of Apollo for the shrine.
chris107: The one that says Thanatos will kill us for ever on it..
Kjato Ragfoot: If the script is correct, we should be able to finish in time for you to get dinner.
chris107:
atherton: ok if you want a cameo
atherton: where are we?
Smon: From last session: >>Smon: Kogor stands guard too as Rey carefully scrapes off the ancient plaster. As it peels away, the door becomes clearly visible. It shows an inscription in ancient Ghinoran. Smon: Rey can read it: "Know ye that beyond this Portal lies the Demesne of Thanatos, the Cursed, the Hater of Life... Smon: "God of Death, seek not to pass this Gate... Smon: "For it leads only to his bosom. Amalric: "I think thats a clear indication...." chris107: Ooooooo Amalric: "That one of you two should lead the way." Smon: "Those who cherish life have sealed these chambers for an eternity. Smon: "Be warned, there is no return through this door. Once passed, it is passed forever." chris107: I say we rest up then go see Thanatos chris107: Hakeem laughs in the face of the death god.<<
efnisien: "Bah, you grabbed all the glory while I was off checking the sights! Still, Kradis has returned"
chris107: About to head back to Thracia.
atherton: which level 2?
atherton: level 1
chris107: Don't know
Smon: You are all in Selatine right now, Rey is now a knight of Selatine with a place in the Lord's Hall and his own room with a nice big bed, and floor mats for his slaves.
chris107: past the secret door in the lizard man room.
atherton: ok then
chris107: Hak will pick up some likely looking rocks to chuck should he need to.
Smon: I did some updates on the campaign page, the dwarf warrior Kogor of Kolda (who Tor Caradoc knows slightly) spent most of his money on buying the serving wench Beverly, and Aldo Redeye has had to resort to hiring paid labour, Happy Iocunnu's daughter Alauna.
efnisien: You will forgive me for not opening the blogpage in the office Simon, what with all the Page 3 Stunnahs on it and everything
atherton: well I presume that bright and early we march for Thracia?
chris107: Yeah, Hakeem needs more blood.
chris107: and skulls. His skull pile is a little disappointing right now
Smon: Lord Reynard's new slave keeps trying to tell him she's actually a 'scientist', which seems to be some kind of Philosopher (boo, hiss) - everyone knows that the Philosophers were enemies of the Pious, but on this world were defeated millenia ago and their works cast into ruin. On some worlds though the Philosophers still rule, wreaking havoc with their 'science' and their 'technology'.
chris107: Hak boos the philosiphers.
Smon: (you are forgiven, ef)
efnisien: Boo hiss science.
chris107: what ever they are..
atherton: perhaps we could have her device certain blasting powders said to be used by the ancients?
efnisien: "Natural Philosophy, indeed"
atherton: or turn lead into gold of course
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: It would be much more useful if she could turn leafs into gold. Leafs regrow, lead is limited.
chris107: Ooooo Hak is impressed by the wizz's thinking.
Smon: We'll say you're discussing your new expedition at the Redeye Inn this fine morning.
chris107: "Can you really do that?"
Amalric: "A scientist? How marvellous. You'll have to tell me more...while rubbing my back this evening..."
atherton: well providing she doesn;t give us the touch of King Midas, anything is on as far as Tor is concerned
Amalric: (not sure how long i'm going to have, wife seems eager to get going today )
chris107: "Rey found this really dangerous door. Probably loads of stuff to kill behind it. Shall we go?"
chris107: (D-I-V-O-R-C-E Graham?)
atherton: "we should, times awastin'"
Kjato Ragfoot: Do you think there might be sapphires behind?
chris107: "Loads of 'em."
atherton: "Hakeem, you should buy a pick, just in case"
Smon: GM: Hakeem, Rey, their girls Malenn, Alicia, Lucy Prentice, Tor, Bjornalf & Kradis assemvle and gird on their gear.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 66,
chris107: "Dwarves always have loads of picks. Anyway I've boozed all my money away."
Smon: That was a weather check - it's a lovely sunny day, no rainclouds in sight.
chris107: Perfect for topping up the Altanean tan. Hak makes sure he's well oiled up before setting off.
atherton: "I'm fresh out of picks Hekeem, but we could use you and your horned helmet to break down the door"
chris107: Hak nods his consent.
Smon: GM: A small crowd assemble to wave you goodbye as you head out of Selatine, heading west along the river road towards Thracia. You pass by the shepherdesses Aya & Vatta, herding a much expanded herd of sheep, Aya wearing a new outfit of gauzy orange cloth. They wave happily, Max the dog woofs.
Smon: Ahead the track leads into the woods...
chris107: "Hi Aya, Hi Vatta, Hi Max!"
Smon: Tor has a work hammer with a backspike BTW, he bought it on arrival.
Smon: "*WOOF!*" says Max, wagging his tail.
chris107:
chris107: "Good boy Max."
Smon: Aya: "Good luck Hakeem! Don't kill everything, leave some for other adventurers!"
Smon: You pass them by, entering the woods.
atherton: I prefer my plan of using Hakeem as a battering ram, these Altanean's had heads harder than rocks
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 44,
atherton: brb
Smon: Your trip through the sunlit woods passes peacefully, around noon you come out on the edge of Thracia, the waterfall sparkling on the western cliffs as it plunges down.
Smon: Crickets chirp and flies buzz in the hot midday sun. Green and red lizards skitter across ancient walls.
chris107: "Watch out in the trees for Gnolls chaps. And that big pool has lizardmen in it." Hak points out the dangers.
Smon: You enter the ruins, heading along the long pool to your left in which many lilies grow, ruined houses to your right.
chris107: He also points out the steps down to the dangerous door.
efnisien: "Thank-you for the pointers, Hakeem."
chris107: "You're welcome my fellow Altanean."
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 11,
Amalric: Rey walks along whistling with his two bi...slaves...in tow
Amalric: until the entrance to the dungeons appears
chris107: "Rey you want to go see if they've put sentries out again?"
Smon: You reach the old temple building with the trees and the steps going down into the dungeon depths. No sign of gnolls, crows are pecking at the remnants of the gnoll sentry, the body has been moved a few feet and mostly eaten by scavengers.
Amalric: "Of course."
efnisien: "Your handiwork, fellows?"
chris107:
Smon: Alicia whispers to Rey. "I've been practicing something... magic... that can help."
Smon: Alicia: "Can I do it?"
efnisien: "What's she muttering to you about, you sly old dog?"
chris107: (You've noticed Mark )
Amalric: "Go ahead, my dear."
Smon: The buxom slave wench Alicia looks to Kradis: "I can make light..."
Amalric: "Show us your talents. Well, more of the less obvious ones..."
efnisien: Well, the last session I played, Rey was a bit of a playa but didn't actually have her in tow o nthe adventure
atherton: been summoned away, can you play Tor Chris?
Smon: Alicia holds out her hand. Suddenly a blazing blue flame appears, cupped in her palm.
chris107: Erm...
Amalric: (he does now, Mark, plus a new slave too )
chris107: I'll try Dave.
chris107: If it's okay with Simon?
Smon: (yeah, ok, chris can play Tor). Rey is now accompanied by two buxom nude brunette slave girls, Alicia & Lucy, both from faraway.
atherton: I've emailed you my character Chris
atherton: cherrio chaps
chris107: 'Tor opens the dangerous door and is first through.....'
chris107: Joke
chris107: Bye Dave
10:05am 2015-4-17 atherton Has exited the room
efnisien: see you Ath
Smon: Tor: http://smons.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/5egh-ath-pc-tor-caradoc.html
Smon: GM: Marching order - Hakeem & Rey, Tor & Kradis, Bjornulf, Alicia & Lucy, Malenn guarding rear ok?
chris107: Works for me.
Kjato Ragfoot: OK
efnisien: OK
Smon: Makes 8 of you again, though Lucy has no obvious combat skills or weapons, she can carry a torch.
chris107: And do the washing up.
Smon: Also she looks good in the Frazetta painting.
efnisien: The most important part of any Frazetta painting, the ladies
Smon: Cautiously you descend the broad 20' wide stone steps into the guano-reeking entry hall.
chris107: and the skulls. Hakeem likes the skulls.
Smon: There is some sign of recent activity, but no gnolls or other beastmen are in sight as you take the eastern tunnel, Alicia's light casting an eerie blue glow.
Amalric: Hakeem can have the skulls, Rey will take the busty brunettes
Smon:
Amalric: look for traps?
chris107: Hakeem warns about the spear trap around the corner to the North.
Smon: Rey checks for traps as you proceed, Hakeem can also keep an eye out.
chris107: He does so
Amalric rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 1212, (+7) = 19
Smon: The passage turns north and 20' ahead on the left/east wall you see the spot where you scraped plaster away, the sinister warning still clearly visible.
chris107 rolls 1d20 and gets: 99,
chris107: That's the very place
efnisien: Does it look like anyone has come by since you guys were last here?
chris107: Any sign that it has been tampered with?
Smon: Rey checks the door - it remains sealed, he locates a catch - looks as if it opens inward.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 33,
Smon: No sign it's been opened recently, the plaster over the hinge remains intact.
chris107: Hak grins and gets his big sword out ready.
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf smiles, dreaming about big sapphires behind the door.
Smon: There are signs that beastmen have been back and forth along this tunnel in the past week.
Smon: But appear to have avoided the door.
chris107: Hakeem again laughs in the face of Thanatos.
chris107: (That's what barbarians do right?)
Smon: Alicia: "Watch this..." she concentrates, and the door catch starts to turn...
chris107: "Whitchcraft!"
efnisien: "She means watch the door, Rey"
Smon: Malenn gasps: "Telekinesis!"
chris107: witchcraft even
Amalric: "What? Oh!" says Rey, catching Kradis' meaning - eventually
chris107: "It will all be repeats. It always is these days."
Smon: The door swings smoothly inward, into absolute pitch darkness, unpenetrated by Alicia's blue light or Lucy's torchlight.
Amalric: "You are not just a pretty face, my dear!" says Rey to Alicia, admiringly (and avoiding saying 'not just a pair of large breasts )
chris107: gulp
chris107: hehe
Amalric: "Hmm...thats not good")
efnisien: "I thought you laughed in the face of danger?"
Smon: Alicia looks to Rey and grins. "I have many talents... that looks like a darkness spell."
chris107: Tor uses his Stone cunning to inspect the surroundings
efnisien: "But this unnatural darkness....well it ain't natural!"
chris107: Hak agrees
Kjato Ragfoot: If it was natural, it wouldn't be unnatural darkness, would it?
Smon: The blonde paladin Malenn of Mitra frowns: "There is great evil in this place. We must be careful."
Smon: roll an INT check for Tor chris.
chris107: haks head hurst at these metaphisical arguments and steps inside
Amalric: "On you go then," Rey urges the fighters
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 99, (+2) = 11
Smon: Something odd about the door hinge now revealed.
chris107: Oops
Smon: looks like you get an extra +4 on that check (x2 prof!) Tor = 15 - just pass!
chris107: (I really hate playing other peoples characters.)
Smon: Inspecting it, Tor sees that it has a delayed spring system, it's designed to self-close and seal again after a short delay.
chris107: (All on playing my own )
Smon: Stonecunning +6
Smon: (& 5e phb pg 18)
chris107: Can he devise some way of blocking the closure?
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. There is no Thanatos behind this door, just a mechanical trape.
Kjato Ragfoot: Probably some kind of gnomish joke.
chris107: (Guess I must buy a 5e PHB)
Smon: (the free Basic Rules will have it too). Anything solid could be placed in the doorway to stop it sealing.
efnisien: Wedge? Spikes? I could perhaps ram a javelin in there to stop it.
chris107: Reys head?
efnisien: Or stones from nearby.
Smon: Tor has a bedroll he could use.
Amalric: Hakeem's head more like
Smon: (look at your PC sheets)
Amalric: not like its good for anything else
efnisien: "Ladies! Do you need a room?"
chris107: Hak sniggers and goes to look for some heavy rocks.
Kjato Ragfoot: Could we break the springs to prevent the door from automatically locking?
Smon: You could try.
Smon: Would be quite noisy, probably.
Smon: Hakeem leaves to go look for rocks.
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, I could try dissolving them with Acid Spray if I can see them.
chris107: Cool Kjato
Smon: They're pretty heavy, but if you keep squirting for 15-20 minutes that should do it. Will be stinky though.
Amalric: nice idea
Smon: /roll 1d12
Smon rolls 1d12 and gets: 77,
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, I'd be willing to spend 20 minutes for an escape route if I have them.
Kjato Ragfoot: And since this whole place stinks, nobody will notice.
Smon: Hakeem goes outside to the ruined temple, grabs a couple of heavy bricks and returns to an acrid aroma, Bjornalf is seeping acid from his hands over the door hinges.
Smon: You are right that with the guano stench it doesn't make it a lot worse.
Smon: There is a clunk as the door activates and swings back shut after 5 minutes.
efnisien: Hakeem and I are used to barbarian dwellings, shouldn't be too bad.
Smon: You can open it again and get back to work.
chris107:
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 11,
Smon: Eventually Bjornalf has seared all the way through the spring. Rey & Tor check it, it should be non-operative now.
Smon: The black passage beyond the door seems very narrow, only 5' wide.
efnisien: Does that mean single file in 5E?
Amalric: (only have a few mins chaps, sorry)
Smon: You'll need to head single file, yup.
chris107: ( )
chris107: Hakeem doesn't mind going first.
Smon: Hakeem enters the darkness, disappears from view.
chris107: Sword ready and pointy end before him.
Smon: Hakeem is in pitch darkness, as are the others following behind... But when Alicia enters, something happens. The darkness seems to coil away from her, illuminating a small area around her.
efnisien: "Talk to us, Hakeem." Kradis will follow also, unless our sorceress can do something about the light first?
Smon: Alicia: "Hmm. "
efnisien: She's been eating Ready Brek?
chris107: Hak gives whispered commentory
chris107:
Smon: Alicia: "I'll need to go near the front..." she moves past those ahead of her until she is right behind Hakeem, giving him a bit of light to see a few feet further ahead.
efnisien: Kradis will make sure there is enough of a gap to Hakeem that he doesn't accidentally brutally stab him in the backside.
Kjato Ragfoot: I will follow the light!
chris107: He keeps on poking his sword forward anyway. Into the darkness beyond her feeble light.
Smon: You can proceed down the narrow tunnel that way, most of the group following Alicia's shapely blue-lit silhouette.
chris107: Ouch!
chris107: "Come on Death God. Don't be shy. Show yourself!"
Smon: After about 25' you come out from the Darkness tunnel through the west wall of a large black-draped chamber, 40'x40'.
10:36am 2015-4-17 Oculus Orbus Has entered the room
chris107: Hi Occles
Oculus Orbus:
efnisien: Hi Ogles
Oculus Orbus: lads
Smon: Hakeem's sword cuts a gap in the black drape that shrouded your entrance into this chamber, green-lit by incense burners at each of the 4 corners.
chris107: Do the curtains seem old or new?
Smon: They are black, heavy fabric - probably very old.
efnisien: And who is keeping the burners going? More witchery?
chris107: "These burners seem freshly lit."
Smon: The burners glow a sickly green and produce a thin trail of sweet-smelling vapour.
efnisien: Or somebody is down here.
chris107: Hakeem forces his frame through into the chamber.
Amalric: do the flames detect for evil?
Amalric: does Malenn detect any evil?
Smon: 8 black marble benches are set in two rows, the benches running n-s.
Smon: As your eyes adjust to the green light, you make out 4 seated or kneeling robed and cowled figures in the room, 4 on the benches and 1 kneeling between the easternmost 2 benches,
Smon: their cowled heads are bowed as if in prayer, they are unmoving.
Smon: You all are now in the chamber. Malenn: "The evil is strong in this place... *yawn*..."
chris107: Hakeem leaps at the nearest and splits it in two with his big sword.
Smon: Everyone make a DC 15 CON save.
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 99, (+3) = 12
Amalric: Rey knocks over one of the burners and directs his slaves to do so to the others burners
Amalric rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 77, (+2) = 9
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 44, (+2) = 6
efnisien rolls 1d20 and gets: 2020,
chris107: Yeah!
Smon: Hakeem strides forward and strikes the nearest figure, it shatters into dust and bone fragments, silver trinkets scatter across the floor.
Smon: DC 15
Smon: Rey moves towards a burner, then slumps to the ground, as does Bjornalf.
10:43am 2015-4-17 Kjato Ragfoot Has exited the room
efnisien: Seeing them fall, Kradis whirls his Greatsword at another figure
Smon: Hakeem follows a moment later. Kradis still stands.
10:44am 2015-4-17 Kjato Ragfoot Has entered the room
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1515, (+2) = 17
Smon: Hakeem kneels then slumps down, slumbering.
Smon: Tor gets to roll d20+4 twice & take best result.
Smon: Alicia:
Smon: /roll 1d20
chris107 Rolls 1d20+4x2 and gets:
10 (+4) = 14
11 (+4) = 15
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 1414,
Amalric: (LOL wish I'd left earlier!)
efnisien: "What devilry is this?!"
chris107: Just
Smon: Alicia yawns and slumps, Tor is ok, bit drowsy.
chris107: Tor starts smashing the fuming braziers
10:46am 2015-4-17 Kjato Ragfoot Has exited the room
Smon: Lucy:
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 44,
Smon: Lucy falls, the torch rolling across the ground.
10:46am 2015-4-17 Kjato Ragfoot Has entered the room
efnisien: Kradis does the same, and pours some water on for good measure (he doesn't have a wineskin or flask listed, but I guess he has one)
10:47am 2015-4-17 Kjato Ragfoot Has exited the room
Smon: Kradis and Tor get to the nearest two braziers, Kradis pours water on the flame and it goes out.
efnisien: Has Lucy's torch extinguished when dropped?
Smon: (no)
Smon: Alicia's hand is still glowing blue, too.
chris107: telephone brb
Smon: Tor is trying to smash the brazier, it is made of brass, he hits it with his magic axe I guess.
Smon: /roll 1d20+6
Smon rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 1414, (+6) = 20
Smon: The brazier shatters, the incense rolls out and goes out. Two are left at the other end of the chamber. Malenn save:
Smon: /roll d20+5
Smon rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 99, (+5) = 14
Smon: bad luck - Malenn heads toward a third brazier, but stops and slumps down before reaching it.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 55,
Smon: Tor took out the nw brazier, Kradis the sw. The ne and se are left.
efnisien: Move across to the nearest one to me
Smon: You each head for the nearest.
Smon: New CON saves.
efnisien rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 66, (+2) = 8
efnisien: arse gravy
chris107: Back
Smon: (BTW you should be adding your Proficiency bonus to your saves, that is +2). Kradis stumbles. As he falls into slumber he thinks he sees one of the figures on the benches start to move.
10:54am 2015-4-17 Kjato Ragfoot Has entered the room
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 2020, (+2) = 22
Kjato Ragfoot: (Sorry, browser crashed)
Amalric: what proficiency?
chris107: Tor will bash any that are left
efnisien: Con in this case
chris107 Rolls 2d20+4x2 and gets:
17, 10 (+4) = 31
12, 7 (+4) = 23
Smon: (Proficiency is +2 at level 1-4). Tor reaches the NE brazier, strikes it.
Smon: /roll 1d20+6
Smon rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 1313, (+6) = 19
chris107 rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 1212, (+5) = 17
Smon: The brazier smashes, the incense rolls out and extinguishes. Only 1 left now. Tor is the last one standing. The seated figure nearest the last brazier stands, turning towards him...
chris107: he still tries to smash the last brazier
Smon: Tor - trying to take out the last brazier before you succumb - heads for it, the figure moving to block his way. Roll init.
chris107 rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 55, (+1) = 6
Smon: /roll 1d20+2
Smon rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1818, (+2) = 20
Amalric: (time up for me. try not to get us all killed chaps!)
Smon: The figure lunges swiftly at Tor as he nears the incense, the hideous long-dead visage beneath the cowl grinning evilly.
chris107: (Will try G )
chris107: Tor will try deflect the thing. Step past and smash the brazier.
11:00am 2015-4-17 Amalric Has exited the room
Smon: /roll d20+4x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+4x2 and gets:

Smon: /roll d6+2
Smon rolls 1d6+2 and gets: 55, (+2) = 7
chris107: 20/27HP
Smon: Its claw tears through the flesh of Tor's right arm, make a CON save DC 13, just 1 die.
chris107 rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 22, (+4) = 6
chris107:
Smon: Tor's flesh turns black, he now has a Maximum of 20 hp, so 20/20. GM call: As Tor is not your regular PC I will be kind and say he can Action Surge and get to the last brazier before the CON check.
chris107: Cool
Smon: But the wight will get a free attack on him as he runs past it. OK?
chris107: Okay
Smon: Wight attack:

Smon: so good luck...
chris107 rolls 1d20 and gets: 77,
Smon: roll now
chris107:

Smon: Everyone except Hakeem wakes up as the incense of Thanatos dissipates. You see the hideous figure cowled & stooped over Hakeem, draining his vital energies.
Smon: What players do we still have for this disaster?
Kjato Ragfoot: I am still here
efnisien: ouch
chris107: Not a lot I can do
Smon: ok, roll init
Smon: Tor Caradoc is dead, Hakeem still holding on.
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 22, (+2) = 4

Smon: Since I rolled a 1 & all.
Smon: Bjornalf & Kradis actions?
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will get his crossbow and shoot at the enemy
efnisien: Swing for the wight
Smon: ok Bjornalf you can shoot at it, AC 14
efnisien rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 55, (+5) = 10
11:27am 2015-4-17 Oculus Orbus Has exited the room

Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 22, (+2) = 4
chris107: Crikey chaps not our day for dice
Smon: looks like a miss. Kradis you could use Reckless Attack - roll twice use best result - but then it would have advantage vs you too. Also are you Raging?
Smon: Alicia raises her hand and shoots three blue energy bolts at it...
Smon: /roll 3d4+3
Smon rolls 3d4+3 and gets: 22, 33, 11, (+3) = 9
efnisien: I can rage immediately after waking up from unconsciousness?
efnisien: Sure ok
chris107: I do that often Mark
efnisien: That's +2 dmg if I hit?
Smon: (Yes!) Lucy screams in horror and shrinks back from the wight, but does at least grab her torch and hold it high, giving you good light.
Smon: (also Rage means half dmg to you from weapons - but wight necrosis does full dmg)
Smon: Kradis if you are Reckless attacking roll your second die now.
Smon: The 3 blue bolts from Alicia had an impact, the wight seems unhappy.
efnisien rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 66, (+5) = 11
chris107:
Smon: sigh
efnisien: flippin eck these rolls
chris107: 1 off!

Smon: Rey stabs it through its black necrotic heart, it expires.
efnisien: What was that third roll for?
Smon: Malenn kneels by Hakeem, restoring 19 hp.
chris107: Rey
efnisien: Good job Rey. Will be even more full of himself now.
Smon: sneak attack dice
chris107: 5/21HP
efnisien: Figured something like that.
chris107: Rey is the most dangerous of the lot of us
Smon: Malenn: "Hakeem, the necrosis will heal... but we have to get out of here!"
Smon: She glances fearfully over at Tor's withered form - is it starting to stir?
efnisien: Well done Rey and Malenn then, and Hakeem for heroically being savaged to distract it.
Kjato Ragfoot: Indeed!
chris107: Search this wicked place first. I'm not dying for nothing.
chris107: He grieves the loss of his friend Tor
efnisien: "This death magic has almost been the death of us. Malenn could be right."
efnisien: [5 mins chaps]
Smon: Malenn: "I'm sorry, I have to do this..." She raises her sword and moves towards Tor's body.
chris107: Leave and come back to fight the risen Tor next week?
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will pour guano over the desceased and set them on fire.
Kjato Ragfoot: Afterwards, he will search the room for valuables and other exits.
Smon: Assuming no one tries to stop her, Malenn raises her sword, bringing it down with a swift action on the ex-dwarf's thick neck.
efnisien: "Farewell, Tor. I knew you too little, but maybe will feast with you in wherever we go hereafter."
Smon: Two more strikes and his head rolls across the ground. The body begins to crumble.
chris107: Hakeem is very sad.
Smon: Bjornalf finds that the other kneeling or seated figures all crumble at a touch, no need to burn them.
Kjato Ragfoot: They must have been here for a long time.
efnisien: Right, I'm afraid I really have to dash Simon, it's been unusually busy for a Friday (there is a graduation this afternoon and Ihave been seeing a few students).
efnisien: Kradis will help to loot the room before doing whatever everyone decides to do next.
Smon: (You should take Friday off like me!) Each of the 4
chris107: (That's the last of Moffet's chums dead now )
efnisien: Thanks for the game, and see you as soon as I can.
chris107: See you Mark
efnisien: Cheerio Chris, Kjato!
efnisien: Have a good weekend.
Kjato Ragfoot: Bye efnisien
efnisien: TYVM Smon.
chris107: You too.
Smon: has a pendant, silver chain & skull with turquoise eyes - the Symbol of Thanatos.
Smon: bye ef
11:45am 2015-4-17 efnisien Has exited the room
Smon: (I didn't think Hakeem would survive umpteen critical hits BTW!)
Smon: (esp w the energy drain)
chris107: (He's blessed by Bondar)
Kjato Ragfoot: (Yeah, that was a mean encounter)
Smon: Each is worth around 25gp. Malenn: "Unholy symbols of Thanatos - foul..."
chris107: (And he still laughs in the face of the Death God )
chris107: "Melt them down."
Smon: The wight has a silver key in its belt pouch.
Kjato Ragfoot: I will sell them to some dark cultists. They usually pay well for stuff like that.
chris107: (Thanatos has made a very bad enemy this day.)
chris107: Silver keys usually fit something interesting
Kjato Ragfoot: Right. Let's look for a silver keyhole!
chris107: Search behind the drapes under the benches etc.
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's tear those draperies drown!
Smon: There does not seem to be anything under the benches. When Hakeem & Bjornalf pull aside the drapes they see grinning skull frescoes...
chris107: Hak pees on one.
chris107: to show his contempt for the Death God. Hakeem has no fear of death at all now
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornal will make a minor illusion of the frescos wiggling their tongues
Smon: Among the frescoes is depicted a dark-robed faceless being reigning triumphantly over multitudes of mortal figures from countless races and religions.
chris107: hehe
chris107: check it for secret silver key holes
Smon: A phrase in ancient Thracian is repeated over and over: "Nothing Escapes Death"
Smon: Continuing your search behind the drapes, you find two doors, one in the north wall, one in the south.
Kjato Ragfoot: Are those doors open?
Smon: The north door is made of stone and bound with iron. It has a lock which looks to match the wight key, a grinning skull engraved at both ends.
chris107: The very thing!
Smon: The south door is also stone, it has a skull with flame-glowing red eyes inset.
Smon: They shine with sorcerous red light.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. What are the eyes made of?
Smon: you can make search checks too - d20+INT bonus, no prof bonus except Hakeem.
Smon: The eyes are black voids in which a sorcerous red light glows.
chris107: @ Smon - If we take a rest can Hakeem use his healing dice up to his new max?
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah.
Smon: Yes, that will take 1 hour to rest in the Chapel of Death.
chris107 rolls 1d6 and gets: 22,
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1919, (+2) = 21
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 1717, (+1) = 18
chris107: Okay point taken
Smon: Hakeem & Bjornalf spot the telltale signs of a secret door hidden behind plaster fresco at the e end of the s wall.
chris107: Taking Tor's hammer he will chip off the plaster
Smon: Looking carefully, Bjornalf spots a key-shaped hole - one of the skull-eyes in the fresco over the secret door.
Smon: Lucy is shaking with fear, Alicia goes over to her and comforts her a little. Malenn smiles at this sign of comradeship.
chris107: "Shall we Bjornalf?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. Lets try the wight key in the secret door!
chris107: Yeah!
Smon: Who is using the key?
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf will
chris107: Hakeem stands well back
Smon: Bjornalf inserts the key. The key turns. There is a click.
Smon: /roll 1d20+6x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+6x2 and gets:
16 (+6) = 22
3 (+6) = 9
Smon: *pfft*
Smon: A spear drops from the ceiling, plunging into Bjornalf.
chris107:
Smon: /roll 2d8
Smon rolls 2d8 and gets: 11, 88, = 9
Smon: 9 dmg
chris107: Ouch
Kjato Ragfoot: Oh. That means I am at 0.
chris107: Malenn?
chris107: "Can you help our brave friend?"
Smon: Malenn rushes over and uses her last 1 pt of healing on Bjornalf, at 1 hp.
Smon: He wakes up.
Kjato Ragfoot: Ouch.
Smon: Malenn: "I told you we should leave! This is a death trap!" She glares angrily at Hakeem. "How many have to die?!"
chris107: Has the key opened anything or just triggered the trap?
Kjato Ragfoot: I did not expect that.
chris107: Nor me.
Smon: The door seems to have opened slightly.
chris107: Hakeem looks inside
Smon: BTW Hakeem & Rey still have 1 healing potion each from Jana.
chris107: "Patience Malenn. I fear not the Death God."
Smon: Beyond the secret door a 5' wide tunnel runs south. It looks to open into a chamber 30' ahead.
chris107: (I'll save the potion for when lizardmen attack us on the way back )
Smon: Malenn: "Then at least let me go first. You are sore wounded."
chris107: Send Rey to look for traps?
chris107: He's unwounded too
chris107: "Malenn your place is by my side. We may yet have to fight more foes this day. let our sneak thief do his stuff."
Smon: GM: Rey somewhat reluctantly moves forward. "I'll need light..."
chris107: Holds torch on high
Smon: The tunnel is dark, but the torch lights your way. You head down it, Rey ahead moving cautiously & searching for traps, Malenn behind.
chris107: Hakeems danger sense on full alert.
Smon: You approach the chamber. Suddenly a red flame glares to life in the middle of the chamber, illuminating a sort of stone funeral bier, surrounded by six skeletons that stand to attention around it, facing outward.
Smon: A dark-robed cowled figure is on the bier, he was lying but now is rising, standing to his feet.
chris107: Hakeenm drinks the healing potion
chris107: And Rages preparing to go berserk the following round.
chris107: Unless everyone else runs away
Smon: As Rey raises his blades and Hakeem drinks his potion (2d4+2) and gets angry the figure calls out to you in ancient Ghinoran: "Is the day of the dead at hand?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf shoots as whatever rose.
chris107 rolls 2d4+2 and gets: 44, 11, (+2) = 7
chris107: 12/21HP
Smon: Bjornalf moves into the chamber, raising his x-bow (no spells?). The figure casts back his hood, revealing a lean face, middle-aged, dark short-cropped hair.
Kjato Ragfoot: Uh?
chris107: Soon to be removed from his shoulders
Kjato Ragfoot: Sorry, I thought you are an undead.
chris107: Does Malenn detect any evil?
Smon: He looks at Bjornalf. The skeleton guards shuffle slightly. "I am Macreus, Curate of Casualty within the Purveyors of Mortality."
Smon: OOC Malenn can't actually detect alignment, & it's not at-will.
chris107: (Ah okay thanks Simon)
chris107: This means little to the raging Hakeem.
Kjato Ragfoot: Well. What are you doing in this dark halls then? There is way to much casuality here already!
Smon: 4/day she can focus - Action - & detect supernatural celestial, fiend or undead, not mortal alignment.
chris107: Okay
Smon: Macreus looks warily at your group, you are now all in his chamber. A second tunnel leads out s through the centre of the south wall.
chris107: "Do you serve the foul Thanatos?!" Demands the angry Hakeem
Smon: "I was selected to enter Stasis 145 years after the fall of King Agamemnos. What year is..." then Hakeem breaks in.
Kjato Ragfoot: (Good question. What year is it?)
chris107: 4445
chris107: (I think)
Smon: 4445 in your calendar.
Smon: Which is the City State calendar.
Smon: Now common across Pazidan.
Kjato Ragfoot: (Have we ever heard of a King Agamemnos?)
Smon: Macreus breaks off and glares at Hakeem, raising a sort of war-pick from the bier. "Praise be to Thanatos, Who is the End of All Things!"
chris107: Hakeem chops off his head in a rage!
Smon: INT check, DC 20, Bjornalf can add prof
Smon: DC 25 to know lots
chris107: (May be a good time to get Malenn's Bless power too )
Smon: Hakeem rushes the dark priest, the skels moving to defend. Hakeem make a DC 10 DEX check to get a free strike on them before we do init
Kjato Ragfoot rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 55, (+3) = 8
Smon: (she used that to smite the wight)
Smon: Bjornalf hasn't heard of this king.
chris107: (The + 1-4 thingie?)
Smon: (she converted it to +2d8 smite dmg)
chris107 rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 1414, (+4) = 18
Smon: ok, Hakeem gets a free action, so can hit a skel.
chris107: (Got you, it's all very complex for a poor Northern Barbarian - and I don't mean Hakeem )
chris107: He can't strike the curate?
Smon: He can try to get through the skels, he'll take at least 2 free attacks from them though
Smon: & they are forming a blocking row, need STR check to shove them aside
chris107: He will strike a skel then
chris107 rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 33, (+5) = 8
chris107:
*chris107 throws dice out of the window*
Smon: The blow is turned by its ragged armour.
Smon: Macreus smiles: "The blessings of Thanatos be upon you."
Smon: init, suggest 1 roll per group, I'll let Hakeem or Bjornalf roll for everyone.
Smon: can add your DEX mod
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1313, (+2) = 15
Smon: /roll 1d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 1818,
Smon: heh
Smon: Macreus' skeletons move to protect him and kill you...
chris107: A/C 15
chris107: C'mon Alicia/Rey do your stuff too!
Smon: He casts Hold Person on Hakeem, WIS save DC 12 or paralysed.
chris107: do I add prof?
Smon: yes
chris107 rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 1515, (+1) = 16
chris107: -1 for wis +2 for prof
Smon: Hakeem ignores the foul enchantment.
12:31pm 2015-4-17 Eliana Has entered the room
chris107: He spits in the general direction of the wicked cleric.
chris107: Hi Eli
Kjato Ragfoot: (Hello Eli!)
Smon: Who is meleeing - Hakeem Rey Malenn; Alicia Lucy Bjornalf behind?
Smon: hi Eli, not going well for PCs today!
Smon: Whisker of TPK already.
Kjato Ragfoot: Bjornalf behind, indeed.
Smon: Kradis melee too.
chris107: That sounds about right. can our spell casters concentrate on the cleric?
Eliana: (Hi!)
chris107: Kradis raging!
Smon: 20' wide room so I'll say you can form a battle line of 4, 1 skel vs each of you, 2 can't attack.
chris107: Get Alicia's blue bolts flying at the begger.
Smon: Kradis will rage too, 2nd time.
chris107: Hakeem berserks into his trying to get at the curate of the death god.
Smon: Skel vs Kradis:

Kjato Ragfoot rolls 5d8 and gets: 77, 66, 55, 22, 22, = 22
Smon: Yeah, only worked because Alicia weakened him first.
Smon: Macreus slumps to the ground, the skeletons don't react.

chris107: Who needs fighters?
Smon: He takes it down. You stand battered but victorious.
Kjato Ragfoot: Let's bind this curate.
chris107: Tie that bastard up. We could learn much about the death god from him.
chris107: Search him of course
Smon: Bjornalf moves to bind the dark priest. He wears fine chainmail under his robe, and his war pick is marked with runes of enchantment. He has three pouches of strange red dust at his belt.
Smon: He has a Thanatos pendant very like the 4 you collected earlier.
Kjato Ragfoot: I will take the war pick and the pouches.
Kjato Ragfoot: And the pendant.
Smon: Malenn: "We should bring him and leave..." she glances nervously at both passages.
chris107: Strip his chainmail once he is gagged, then bind him.
chris107: I think that's a good idea
Smon: OK, you remove the chain shirt, he is snoring gently as you gag & bind him.
chris107: Though we must take Tor's body for a honourable funeral.
Smon: GM: You leaving now?
chris107: (And to pass his stuff on to Ath's new character if he wants it).
chris107: 15 mins
chris107: Oh sorry
chris107: I guess we should look down the Southern corridor first.
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, let's leave. We are battered, got some treasure and a prisoner we should probably interview outside his patrons temple.
Smon: Kradis swings the sleeping priest over his shoulder, Hakeem takes Tor's body and head - Malenn isn't keen on that but says: "We should burn him."
chris107: Okay if we do it must be in a place of beuty.
Smon: The south corridor runs off into darkness.
chris107: beauty even
chris107: in sight of the mountains
Smon: Malenn nods.
chris107: And we should do what we can to lock this area off. Use the silver key?
Kjato Ragfoot: Good idea.
chris107: Refix the outer door etc.
Kjato Ragfoot: Right.
Smon: OK, you head back into the Chapel, close & lock the secret door.
chris107: Don't want the beastmen getting all the loot we have bled and died for!
Smon: From the chapel you head back west entering the zone of Darkness, you broke the spring & left the secret door open.
chris107: I'll just pop and get my shoes on and bring my suitcase down. brb
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 44,
Smon: Luckily no beastmen have passed by & spotted this...
Smon: You leave the Darkness and come back into the realm of light, having (just) defeated the dark prophecy that none who pass through shall return.
Smon: (I was certain Hakeem was a goner at least, & looked like the whole party at one stage)
Smon: Turn left, then right into the entry hall, upstairs into afternoon sunlight.
Smon: You start back through Thracia...
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 22,
Smon: And are lucky this time, leaving the city without incident and reaching Selatine an hour before nightfall.
chris107: back
Smon: The priest woke on the way, Kradis marching him along at swordpoint.
chris107: Phew! That was close. What am I going to tell Athers?!
Smon: A small crowd gather expectantly, but there is a moan at the sight of dead Tor Caradoc.
Smon: Malenn salutes Jana Vex and Lord Hytirus as they emerge from their Villa. Malenn looks grim.
Smon: Lord Vex surveys the captive scornfully. "What is this one?"
chris107: "A vile priest of Thanatos. Asleep for centuries in the ruins of Thracia."
Kjato Ragfoot: Some Curate of Casualty from Agamemnos
Smon: Malenn: "A wight of Thanatos slew Tor, but he saved us all from an enchanted slumber."
chris107: A Hero indeed. Worthy of much praise.
Smon: Lord Vex glances shrewdly to Chelarre Foxwood the Nerathi priestess. "A priest of Thanatos, eh? Interesting..." Chelarre nods. "I would question him."
Kjato Ragfoot: We thought so, that is why we did not kill him on the spot.
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, that and the worry he might actually like it.
Smon: Lord Vex turns to Hakeem, Rey & co. "He may have much valuable information. We will hold him in the cells beneath the Villa. You have done well, again."
Smon: Vex turns to his Weaponmaster. "Fetch a hundred gold for each of these heroes."
chris107: "Lady Vex, I have been sorely wounded by the Wight. Will I heal?"
Smon: That's +100gp Hakeem Rey Kradis Malenn Bjornalf.
Smon: Jana looks with concern at the blackened wounds. She places a hand on Hakeem's chest.
Smon: "You will heal... but it will take time. For now I can ease the pain..."
chris107: "You have my thanks Holy One."
Smon: /roll 2d8+2
Smon rolls 2d8+2 and gets: 66, 88, (+2) = 16
chris107: Now guys I really got to go. Taxi outside. Thanks for the game all!
chris107: have a great weekend
Smon: Hakeem feels a lot better, +16 hp to cap.
Kjato Ragfoot: You two!
Smon: Bye now I'll post blog & do XP. Well done I guess!
