VAULTS OF THRACIA

7:28am  2015-4-01 Smon Has entered the room
7:42am  2015-4-01 chris107 Has entered the room
chris107: Morning Simon @)
Smon: hi C
chris107:
chris107: Fingers not quite awake yet.
Smon: So I ran Wilderlands for Graham & Mark last night
chris107: Cool, how did they get on?
Smon: & seem to have somehow wrenched my shoulder doing it - dangerous things, keyboards!
Smon: Did very well, fighting the risen dead in the Crypt of St Ulther
chris107: The wretched Woman who is buying Eton from me has me run wragged at the moment
chris107: Sounds exciting!
Smon: Kills: 2 goblins, a giant ferret, a skeleton, and an armoured zombie critter which had a +1 dagger in its chest
chris107: What character is Mark playing?
Smon: They ran from the rest of the Skeleton Horde, very wisely.
chris107: Very nice indeed
chris107: Running is always an option
Smon: Another Altanian Barbarian, Kradis, who has the hots for Innkeeper Aldo's wife Serani.
Smon: brb coffee
chris107: good idea
Smon: yum coffee
Smon: Ken may be playing, I've converting a Wizard PC he did for 1e to 5e.
Smon: http://smons.blogspot.co.uk/ - Wizards are a bit complicated though.
chris107: More doggies!
Smon: yup  Not as big.
chris107: Gosh, yes. It does look a bit complex.
chris107: I'll just stick to hitting stuff
Smon: I like it that Barbs are probably the simplest class, rather than Fighters.
chris107: Thinking is hard work
Smon: But definitely not underpowered, the 1/2 damage while raging is powerful.
chris107: And very few things can't be sorted out using a BIG sword.
Smon: At 3rd level you can either follow the Path of the Wolf - granting advantage to adjacent allies - or berserker, which seems more sword knighty.
chris107: Yes. Agin large powerful creatures it will give him a great edge.
Smon: Berserker lets you take an extra bonus action attack 1/r while raging, but you are tired afterwards.
chris107: Berserker does sound pretty good
Smon: It's pretty awesome but at high level you could actually kill yourself through too much exertion.
chris107: Cripes!
chris107: Best get his constitution up to 20 as soon as poss then.
Smon: Exhaustion has 6 levels, you get 1 each time you Berserk, you only recover 1 level per overnight rest.
Smon: Level 1 gives disadvantage on ability checks (not attacks & saves)
Smon: Level 2 halves your speed.
Smon: Level 3 gives disadvantage on attacks & saves
Smon: It just gets worse from there.
chris107:
chris107: So you really don't want to go berserk more than once a day.
Smon: Yes, 2 in extremis.
chris107: Is the duration of the disability 1 day?
Smon: You recover 1 level per overnight rest.
Smon: So 3 > 2, 2>1, 1>ok
chris107: So for the entire rest of the adventring day and the night that follows, you're pretty well buggered?
Smon: yes
chris107: Mmmm may have to rethink bersserking..
Smon: You want to be resting up somewhere nice with a cosy wench or 3 afterwards.
chris107: Do Barbs get multiple attacks at higher level anyway?
Smon: Yes, at 5th get 2 attacks.
chris107: It's a hard life been a barbarian
Smon: Only fighters get more than 2.
chris107: Is Athers playing today too?
Smon: If you want you can choose Berserker for now & I'll let you swap it out if you don't like it?
Smon: If you live to 3rd level
Smon: atherton should be here, yup
chris107: I was just about to say that
Smon: don't wanna jinx you, only 100xp off
chris107: I'll grab another coffee then. Hope he's here by the time it's done.
chris107: Yeah 100XP!
Smon: just pm'd ath. We can start w/out him if necessary & I'll NPC him as necessary.
Smon: After your battle with the gnolls did you want to rest & tend your wounds?
chris107: okay, cool
Smon: Max the dog at 5/11, Hakeem 21/25, Tor 12/28
chris107: I think I'm okay. Only 22/25
chris107: ah 21/25
Smon: You could spend a healing die, your choice.
chris107: But I think it would be wise for Max and Tor to.
Smon: Max licks his wound:
8:12am  2015-4-01 atherton Has entered the room
chris107: I get a d12+ some 2/day right?
Smon: Hi ath!
atherton: hi fella's
chris107: Athers!
Smon: d12+3 2/day yup, recover 1 per day
atherton: just walked in the door
Smon: Your PCs are taking a short rest to bind wounds after killing the gnolls.
atherton: ok, so we have some sort of super duper healing feats?
Smon: Max the dog licks his wound:
Smon: /roll 1d8+1
Smon rolls 1d8+1 and gets: 44, (+1) = 5
chris107: I'll risk waiting until after the next fight to heal.
Smon: Max at 10/11
Smon: Tor catches his breath (Second Wind) free recovery of d10+3 if you'd like to roll.
Smon: (Fighter power)
atherton: probably a seasenible idea Chris, Tor will wait too
chris107: I think Tor has lost a lot more than Hakeem...
atherton: I'm going to conceal my shield somewhere in the ruins
atherton: then we'll light some torches
Smon: Tor can also spend healing dice during rest, has 3 currently, each restores d10+2
Smon: I can do Tor rolls
Smon: Second Wind:
Smon: /roll 1d10+3
Smon rolls 1d10+3 and gets: 55, (+3) = 8
atherton: ok, so up to 20 hp now
Smon: 8 back, at 20/28
Smon: Spending 1 healing die:
Smon: /roll 1d10+2
Smon rolls 1d10+2 and gets: 77, (+2) = 9
Smon: Tor back to full hp
atherton: we'll light two torches andventure down the stairs
Smon: So Max at 10/11, Aya 9/9, Tor 28/28, Hakeem 21/25
chris107: Once Hakeem's path is illuminated he is eager to go kill more stuff.
atherton: Hakeem can carry the other torch if he does have a shield
Smon: OK, you light two torches, Tor conceals his shield in the bushes.
chris107: Hakeem's sword is two handed Athers
atherton: ok it will have to Aya
Smon: Tor can see in the dark BTW. Aya can take a torch but would need to drop it to reload sling.
atherton: unless we throw one torch to the ground if attacked
Smon: She can carry sling loaded, though.
atherton: Aya then
chris107: That sounds good.
atherton: she'll just have to drop the torch when we're attacked
chris107: IF
atherton: anyway I'll head down the stairs in advance of the others
Smon: GM: OK, you proceed cautiously down the broad steps into a great entry hall reeking of guano.
Smon: Hundreds of bats nestle in the rafters above.
atherton: we'll move quietly so as not to disturb them
Smon: The walls are covered in faded frescoes of elaborate ceremonies depicting burning calves and other sacrifices.
atherton: I assume they're normal looking bats?
Smon: Richly garbed Thracians are shown bowing in supplication to regally robed deities.
Smon: The bats look normal-sized, about 4".
atherton: ok, no worries, we'll continue on, just being quiet
chris107: Hakeem looks closely at the pretty pictures of ladies. Touching any finery to see if it comes off.
Smon: There is about 6" of guano on the marble floor. There are 3 exits, to e w and n, you came down steps from the s.
Smon: Hakeem touches a fresco of Athena, she remains clothed.
chris107: He looks somewhat crestfallen.
chris107: North?
Smon: Tracks crisscross the chamber to the north and east exits, none to the west.
atherton: ok I guess we examine each of the 3 exits first
atherton: I'll go west
chris107: Big Gnoll like paw prints?
Smon: You move quietly so as to not disturb the bats.
atherton: leave Hakeem and Aya at the bottom of the stairs
atherton: I'll give them a hand signal to stay put
Smon: Tor crosses the slippery floor to the west exit, sees a passage that dead-ends after 30'.
chris107: Hakeem is never left anywhere. He's a man of action.
Smon: /roll 1d20+3
Smon rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 44, (+3) = 7
Smon: Could be gnoll prints, hard to tell.
atherton: I'll tap the end of the tunnel
atherton: to see if there is a secret door
Smon: Does Hakeem follow Tor down the w tunnel?
chris107: Hakeem guards the dwarves rear. Keeping an eye on the other passagways.
Smon: ok, Aya & Max also cross the chamber to the w exit, but wait there w Hakeem.
Smon: Tor checks the end of the w tunnel.
Smon: /roll 1d20+3
Smon rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 1414, (+3) = 17
Smon: Hmm... no secret doors you think, but your dwarven stonecunning tells you there is only about 5' of solid stone past the tunnel end, then a void.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 55,
Smon: All is quiet.
atherton: "chamber on the other side Hakeem, but we have no tunneling tools"
atherton: "let us go north instead"
chris107: Hakeem nods.
atherton: we head back to the stairs and then north
Smon: GM: The north arch leads through into a broad processional avenue lined with pillars that runs 50' or so, then narrows and continues on beyond your torchlight.
chris107: And to the East?
Smon: On the west side just before it narrows to the north, a rift has breached the west wall, the floor chasm extending 15' into the hallway.
atherton: we advance down the avenue, briefly pausing at each pillar
atherton: in case someoen or something lurks in the shadow of the pillars
Smon: East from the entry hall a 10' tunnel runs east 30' then turns north.
Smon: Tor enters the processional hall.
Smon: The columns are veined red and white marble.
chris107: Thanks. Hakeem hurries to catch up with the speedy dwarf
atherton: "this looks important Hakeem, maybe a temple lies beyond"
Smon: Hundreds more bats nestle at the ceiling, and the floor here is covered in guano too.
Smon: You see nothing behind the pillars.
Smon: The stench is acrid.
chris107: Still with paw/foot prints in it?
Smon: yes.
atherton: "by the way Hakeem, if you fall on the floor, I'm not picking you up"
Smon: /roll 1d20+3
Smon rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 1717, (+3) = 20
chris107: Hakeem grins
atherton: we'll stop at the crevasse
atherton: how wide is it?
Smon: Two recent pairs of tracks lead north through the processional. Not gnolls - something bipedal but claw-footed.
chris107: Mmmmmmm
Smon: Hakeem recognises the tracks - lizardmen?!
atherton: "claw footed, what do we know that is claw footed"
chris107: Bigger than gnolls?
chris107: "Lizardmen!"
atherton: "lizardmen ok, I would have guessed vulturemen myself"
Smon: Tor reaches the crevasse. It is about 5' wide where it breaches the w wall, narrowing to a point after 15'.
chris107: Hakeem peers down.
atherton: "lower me into the crevasse"
atherton: "I wish to see what lies beyond"
chris107: How deep is it?
Smon: The pillars end where the passage narrows, though still 20' wide. It runs another 30' or so, ending in a heap of rubble. Halfway down (after 15') doors are set in both e & w walls.
chris107: (Hakeem entertains thoughts of a quick push )
Smon: The crevasse extends down beyond range of your torchlight.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 22,
Smon: Still quiet.
Smon: brb 1 min
chris107: "You really want to go down there Tor?"
atherton: I'll tie a rope around my waist and hand it to Hakeem
atherton: then I back over the lip of the crevasse
chris107: Hakeem braces himself. Been carful not to be pulled in after the dwarf if he falls.
atherton: I shed my backpack and water skin
atherton: and crossbow
atherton: I'll take my axe, dagger, hammer and few iron spikes thrust through my belt
Smon: GM: Aya watches nervously as Hakeem lowers Tor down. And down...
Smon: Tor descends down some 40', nearly at the end of the rope, before the chasm opens out into a vasty chamber below.
chris107: Impressive
atherton: how far down is the floor?
atherton: and more importatnly, is there anyone or anything in the chamber
atherton: because if there is I'm planning a rapid ascent
atherton: unless they're kobolds of course
Smon: He comes to the end of the rope, still 15' above the ground. He is dangling between pillars, ahead of him to sw steps lead down into a vast rubble strewn cavern.
Smon: He is in a hewn cave about 20' across, to the ne it opens out into another vasty cavern.
Smon: Then Tor hears growls, and two angry gnolls emerge from behind the pillars, bows drawn!
atherton: any sight of life?
chris107: Yikes!
atherton: "PULL ME UP" I yell
atherton: I jerk the rope frantically
Smon: both of you roll init, you go up after the LOWEST roll
chris107: Hakeem pulls on the rope for all he's worth!
Smon: d20 rolls
Smon: gnolls roll:
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 44, (+2) = 6
Smon: /roll 1d20+1
chris107:
Smon rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 55, (+1) = 6
Smon: Hakeem wins the tie
Smon: Tor roll d20+1
chris107: He heaves
atherton rolls 1d20 and gets: 11,
atherton: 2
chris107:
atherton: I'm pulling myeslf up
Smon: Tor was too slow yelling, the gnolls loose arrows as he ascends.
Smon: /roll 1d20+3x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+3x2 and gets:
2 (+3) = 5
17 (+3) = 20
atherton: 2nd hit
Smon: 1 pierces his leg.
Smon: /roll 1d8+1
Smon rolls 1d8+1 and gets: 33, (+1) = 4
Smon: 4 dmg, Tor is nicked as he rises up.
Smon: He disappears from sight of the gnolls.
chris107: Mmmm do we know if gnolls can see in the dark like dwarves?
Smon: Hakeem's muscles strain - Tor is not light. Make a STR check Hakeem, d20+3
atherton: so I'm back in the crevasse?
Smon: (you could Rage for Advantage, bit of a waste though)
Smon: yes
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 77, (+3) = 10
Smon: exact pass
chris107: phew!
atherton: how far does it go each way?
atherton: nevermind
Smon: End over end Hakeem pulls the rope, pulling Tor up.
atherton: I help to pull myself up
atherton: just in case Hakeem's muscles give out
Smon: The crevasse ends at your end of it. To the SW it extends beyond your darkvision.
Smon: (Tor can see in the dark)
Smon: Tor reaches the lip of the crevasse, rejoining his companions.
chris107: Any sound of raised alarms from below?
Smon: You can hear faint howling sounds from the gnolls far below.
chris107: Not good.
atherton: I pull the arrow out with a grimace andexplain to Hakeem what I saw below
Smon: Nothing on your level.
Smon: Just a shallow cut.
chris107: Hakeem stalks off to look more closely at the two doors.
Smon: Hakeem reaches the doors. He can see the rubble now - the remnants of a great statue - Athena?
chris107: "Hope their howling doesn't bring a pack of 'em down here."
atherton: "if it does they'll have to climb to our level"
chris107: Hakeem nods.
atherton: 'the crevasse cotinues to he south west, if may be the void I detected at the end of the other tunnel"
Smon: The doors are of dark wood, still intact. A big iron handle shows corrosion on each.
chris107: Does the passage continue past the remains of the Athena statue?
atherton: I check the rubble before Hakeem opens the doors
Smon: no, the passage north ends in a circular recess, the rubble piled there.
chris107: thanks
atherton: checking for bits of gold gilding
Smon: Tor checks the rubble, lifting a lump he finds the sere face of the goddess gazing stonily up at him.
Smon: No gold though.
chris107: Hakeem listens at the doors east and west
atherton: "just marble I'm afraid Hakeem"
Smon: You could take the head and put it in the Thunderhold Museum one day.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 33,
chris107: Museums are for plundering.
Smon: /roll 1d20+1x2
atherton: good idea, I hide the head again
Smon Rolls 1d20+1x2 and gets:
5 (+1) = 6
18 (+1) = 19
Smon: Nothing through the west door. You spot faint light emanating from beneath the east door.
Smon: And hear a grunt.
Smon: A sort of grunt-hiss sound.
atherton: I nod towards the east door, and aim my crossbow at the centre of the door
chris107: He readies his great blade and whispers to Tor.
atherton: I'll stand back against the west door with Aya
chris107: Hakeem takes the ancient iron handle
Smon: Aya readies her sling, Max beside her.
chris107: Looking at the hinges and jarm to see if it pulls or pushes
atherton: I have my axe at my feet ready for use
Smon: Pushes inward away from you.
chris107: And will then take the appropriat action required to open it. Standing aside to let his chums fire.
chris107: 1 min someone at the door
atherton: finger on the trigger
atherton: not pulling until I see whats on the other side
Smon: Hakeem turns the handle and opens the door, revealing a rubble-strewn chamber ca 30' deep, the far wall curved.
Smon: Across from you about 20' from Hakeem are two lizardmen, one lies prostrate against rubble while the second kneels, tending to it by torchlight.
atherton: I take aim at the kneeling lizardman but do not fire
Smon: As they spot you they turn, hissing angrily.
atherton: do they look like they're going to attack us?
atherton: if they do I'llfire, if not, I hold my fire
chris107: sorry bout that had to sign for a delivery
Smon: Both get to their feet, one looking woozy, hefting javelins and clubs.
atherton: if its a threat display, then I'll hold fire
atherton: ok fire
Smon: You shoot?
Smon: Aya whirls her sling.
Smon: You all win init vs them I'll say.
atherton: yes, looks like more than a display of aggression
atherton rolls 1d20 and gets: 22,
atherton: miss
Smon: Tor's shot goes wide.
Smon: Aya:
Smon: /roll 1d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 1313, (+4) = 17
atherton: set my crossbow down quickly and grab my axe
Smon: thunks the head of the injured one.
chris107: When his friends have fired and any javelins have come back. Hakeem will rush to combat.
Smon: /roll 1d4+2
Smon rolls 1d4+2 and gets: 33, (+2) = 5
Smon: Hakeem can charge in & attack before the lizardmen can strike.
Smon: Are you using your 2nd Rage?
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 99, (+3) = 12
atherton: I'lll charge in after Hakeem
chris107: no rage yet.
Smon: The unwounded lizardman parries Hakeem's swing. They attack him.
chris107: AC 15
Smon: They can strike w club & stab w javelin in one go...
chris107:
Smon: /roll 1d20+4x4
chris107: Maybe I should have got cross?
Smon Rolls 1d20+4x4 and gets:
7 (+4) = 11
16 (+4) = 20
15 (+4) = 19
13 (+4) = 17
Smon: stab hack stab
chris107: Ouch!
Smon: /roll 3d6+6
Smon rolls 3d6+6 and gets: 55, 66, 33, (+6) = 20
Smon: 20 dmg.
chris107: 1/25HP
Smon: Tor grabs his axe and charges in, accompanied by Max the dog.
Smon: Your go.
atherton: I attack the wounded lizardman
atherton rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 1919, (+6) = 25
Smon: roll to hit, d20+6 for Tor.
Smon: hit!
chris107: Nice one!
atherton rolls 1d8+6 and gets: 55, (+6) = 11
Smon: d8+6 dmg
Smon: He cuts it down!
chris107: Yeah!
Smon: Max attacks the unwounded one as it is engaged with Hakeem...
atherton: "Aya, circle behind this one" I half shout
Smon: /roll d20+4x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+4x2 and gets:
3 (+4) = 7
5 (+4) = 9
Smon: It fends off Max.
chris107:
chris107: Hakeem will continue to attack
Smon: ok, AC 13.
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 1616, (+3) = 19
Smon: hit
chris107 rolls 2d6+3 and gets: 11, 33, (+3) = 7
Smon: It grunts.
Smon: Aya moves into the room, circling round to get a clear shot (next round)
Smon: The lizardmen swings its club at Hakeem to finish him...
Smon: /roll 1d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 66, (+4) = 10
chris107:
Smon: Hakeem parries. It stabs down at Max with its spear
Smon: /roll 1d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 11, (+4) = 5
chris107:
Smon: miss, it strikes the stone.
atherton: I'm trying to force my way between Hakeem and the lizardman so that I draw its attacks
Smon: /roll 1d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 1111,
Smon: Spear remains intact.
chris107: Drat!
Smon: Tor moves in front of Hakeem, but Hakeem can always move past Tor to keep attacking.
Smon: Your goes.
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 1212, (+3) = 15
atherton rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 1717, (+6) = 23
Smon: Aya slings a stone at -2
Smon: /roll d20+2
Smon rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1111, (+2) = 13
Smon: You all 3 hit
atherton rolls 1d8+6 and gets: 77, (+6) = 13
chris107 rolls 2d6+3 and gets: 44, 22, (+3) = 9
Smon: The lizardman goes down in a miasma of blood.
chris107: Yeah!
Smon: Aya rushes up to Hakeem. "You're badly wounded!"
atherton: we'll bandage Hakeem up
chris107: "Thanks guys. That was a close call!"
Smon: (That'll take an hour)
chris107: Healing dice I think
Smon: (if you want to spend healing dice. Tor has a healing potion, remember)
chris107: You guys search while Hakeem does his stuff.
chris107: 2d12+6?
Smon: You look around. The lizardmen have been here about an hour judging by their own torch - you interrupted them during their own Short Rest.
atherton: I'll close the door, barricade it
Smon: The wounded one had several small puncture marks showing discoloration - poison?
chris107 rolls 2d12+6 and gets: 66, 1010, (+6) = 22
chris107: 22/25HP
atherton: if there is wood or something, I will buttress it against the door
atherton: a snakebite?
chris107: Where on the body are the puncture wounds?
atherton: I'll explore the rest of the chamber, just in case
chris107: snake or spider I'd guess.
Smon: The rubble is the remains of several statues.
Smon: The wounds were mostly on its legs and arms.
atherton: or centipede
chris107: mmmmm yup
atherton: then I'll pile some of the rubble against the door
Smon: There is an alcove at the back of the chamber, with ornate panelling.
atherton: carefully, in case anything with fangs lurks in the rubble
Smon: /roll 1d20+3
Smon rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 1111, (+3) = 14
atherton: I'll get in all my gear from outside before I barricade the door obviously
Smon: Tor gets his gear then piles up rubble against the door, blocking it.
Smon: Aya helps Hakeem tend his wounds.
Smon: /roll 1d20+2
chris107:
Smon rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1717, (+2) = 19
Smon: Hakeem recovers 2 more hp under her ministrations
chris107: cool
chris107: 24/25HP
Smon: Tor can use his second wind for free again during the rest.
Smon: /roll 1d10+3
Smon rolls 1d10+3 and gets: 77, (+3) = 10
atherton: I won't
Smon: Tor at full, but that was your last 1 hr rest today.
Smon: (It's free, you regain it after short rest)
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 44,
Smon: /roll 1d100
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets: 272727,
chris107: Feeling better Hakeem helps Tor search for stuff. Preferably golden stuff.
atherton: I'm investigating the pannelling at the back
Smon: The back panneling in the alcove appears hollow.
atherton: pull it open/aside
chris107: (That's the second time Hakeem has survived a fight with 1HP left  )
Smon: If you're badly wounded again, recommend you pull out of the dungeon.
Smon: Tor fiddles with the panel until it grinds open, revealing a passage running north-south to left and right.
Smon: To your left it runs 30' n then turns e.
Smon: To your right it runs 20' s then turns w, with double doors ahead to the s where it turns w.
Smon: /roll 1d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 55,
chris107: Double doors are always fun.
Smon: The passage seems well travelled, but a few bats hang from the ceiling.
chris107: All dark and quiet?
Smon: yes.
Smon: Tor can see w his dwarfovision.
chris107: Double doors then Tor?
atherton: "lets check the other room first"
atherton: "then back through here to the double doors"
chris107: That means unblocking the doorway
Smon: You'll need to lift the rubble away, yup.
chris107: (Hakeem is not a fan of hard work)
atherton: "true, double doors it is then"
Smon: Do you reclose the panel?
atherton: I guess we do
chris107: (He much prefers carousing and killing stuff)
Smon: It slides shut.
atherton: no need to advertise our presence
Smon: Several minutes later you clear the rubble, Aya helping and Max whoofing.
atherton: ok, Hakeem can listen at the double doors
chris107: Can he?
Smon: Back in the big n-s hallway, you approach the opposite door on the w side.
atherton: "well you seem to like listening at doors Hakeem"
chris107: What do they look like?
chris107: "Only when I choose to."
Smon: >>ok, Hakeem can listen at the double doors<< careful writing stuff like that, I can take it as a PC's actions.
Smon: Are you opening the door opposite the lizardman room's door?
chris107: I think we went back to the double doors didn't we Athers?
Smon: NO
Smon: You closed the panel, cleared the rubble, went back into the big n-s hall.
atherton: we went through the paneling into the corridor
atherton: as Hakeem didn't want to clear the rubble away
Smon: ath typed >>ok, Hakeem can listen at the double doors<< which was out of context & confusing.
chris107: Lazy Barbarian
atherton: I was going to go back to the other room
atherton: but Hakeem didn't want to clear the rubble away
chris107: Well if we're back at the door opposite the lizardmen room Hakeem will listen.
Smon: /roll 1d20+1
Smon rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 22, (+1) = 3
Smon: Nothing.
atherton: doesn't matter, one or the other
chris107: He's sure what ever bit the lizard is inside so he will be at the ready.
atherton: so which door are we at?
Smon: back at the door opposite the lizardmen room
chris107: The one opposite the lizardmen room I think.
atherton: ok same procedure then
chris107: Same as before?
chris107: Sure
atherton: but I'll toss a torch into the room
atherton: after Hakeem opens the door
atherton: I have my crossbow loaded again and Aya her sling
Smon: ok, Tor and Aya ready missiles but then Tor steps forward and flings in his torch as Hakeem opens the door.
chris107: Check, push/pull, stand aside
Smon: The torch lands in the rubble amidst the crawling centipedes, that scutter away angrily.
Smon: The chamber is a mirror of the one opposite, 30' deep with curved far wall.
chris107: yuk
atherton: "centipedes, told you!" I cry trumphantly to Hakeem
Smon: Green and white streaked rubble lies around.
atherton: "do your work Aya, no need for us to get too close"
Smon: A black rock pedestal stands opposite you, now empty.
chris107: Hakeem stands to the side of the door ready to squish any that come out.
atherton: I set down my crossbow and cross to the other side of the door from Hakeem
Smon: Amidst the rubble you make out stony debris - a wing, a woman's comely face, a hand.
atherton: Aya can do her work with the sling
atherton: "don't ruin the face!"
Smon: Maybe a score of red centipedes scuttle around.
chris107: (Great dungeon dressing  )
Smon: Many more centipedes are mashed and dead on the ground.
atherton: waiting for any centipedes to scurry through
Smon: The survivors were eating the dead before you disturbed them.
chris107: me too
atherton: I'll use my hammer, don't want to ruin my axe blade
Smon: & there are drops of lizardman blood.
Smon: Aya slings at one, they're about 2' long.
Smon: /roll 1d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 1111, (+4) = 15
Smon: hit
Smon: /roll 1d4+2
Smon rolls 1d4+2 and gets: 33, (+2) = 5
Smon: kills it.
chris107:
Smon: Tor is going in with his hammer?
Smon: Hakeem?
atherton: we're waiting at the door
Smon: Aya & Max are staying back.
chris107: Waiting to squish any that come out
atherton: any that come out, we'll squish them
Smon: They scuttle around as Aya keeps slinging.
Smon: /roll 1d20x11
Smon Rolls 1d20x10 and gets:
10 = 10
18 = 18
20 = 20
19 = 19
12 = 12
5 = 5
19 = 19
11 = 11
12 = 12
13 = 13
atherton: so long as Aya has ammo, she can keep slinging
Smon: /roll 1d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 1616,
Smon: 10 hits.
Smon: /roll 1d4x9
chris107: Go Aya!
Smon Rolls 1d4x9 and gets:
1 = 1
4 = 4
4 = 4
2 = 2
2 = 2
4 = 4
3 = 3
3 = 3
1 = 1
Smon: 9 kills.
Smon: Aya: "I'm out."
chris107: That's impressive
Smon: Her stone pouch is empty.
Smon: 9 centipedes still scuttle around.
atherton: ah well, in we go then
atherton: I'll use my hammer
chris107: Hakeem will go grab rocks from the fallen Athena statue and chuck 'em at the centipedes
Smon: Hakeem & Tor are going in?
Smon: You could just step on them
atherton: when I se Hakeem grab rocks, I copy him
atherton: I'll grab some more stones for Aya
chris107: Don't want to end up like the lizardman. Hakeem chucks rocks
Smon: You enter, centipedes scuttle towards you. You grab rocks from the floor as they attack you?
atherton: we don't enter
chris107: Hakeem grabbed rocks from around the Athena statue to the north.
atherton: we stay outside and lob rocks until they come through the door at us
chris107: Then standing outside chucks 'em at the horrid creatures.
Smon: ok, you look for useable masonry.
Smon: /roll 2d3
Smon rolls 2d3 and gets: 1, 2 = 3
Smon: You get 3 chuckable bits.
Smon: From the room behind you you can get more.
Smon: /roll 2d4
Smon rolls 2d4 and gets: 22, 44, = 6
chris107: first bit
Smon: 6 more, = 9 total.
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1515, (+2) = 17
Smon: d20+5
Smon: AC 13, kill on a hit.
chris107: d3+3
chris107: Ah great!
Smon: 4 hp
atherton rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 1414, (+1) = 15
Smon: can roll 9 times if you like
chris107: "This is great Tor!" Beems Hakeem.
chris107: I'll do 4
Smon: ok
atherton Rolls 1d20+1x5 and gets:
17 (+1) = 18
12 (+1) = 13
11 (+1) = 12
12 (+1) = 13
1 (+1) = 2
chris107 rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 99, (+5) = 14
atherton: looks like I hit 3
chris107 rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 77, (+5) = 12
chris107 rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 1212, (+5) = 17
chris107 rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 55, (+5) = 10
atherton Rolls 1d20+1x5 and gets:
12 (+1) = 13
10 (+1) = 11
18 (+1) = 19
6 (+1) = 7
20 (+1) = 21
chris107: "That shouldn't leave many!"
Smon: Tor kills 4, Hakeem kills 3, 2 left & you have cleared every good bit of chucking masonry in the area.
atherton: thats another 3
Smon: The room is now very cluttered.
atherton: ok, victoriously we enter the room
chris107: Hakeem goes to stomp one if Tor will do the other?
Smon: ok, roll init!
atherton: hammer in hand I will sort through the rubble
chris107 rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1111, (+2) = 13
atherton: Hakeem can stomp the centipedes
atherton: Max is sure to be interested
Smon: /roll 1d20+2
Smon rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 1919, (+2) = 21
Smon: One centipede goes for Tor as he starts searching the rubble(?!)
Smon: One goes for Hakeem.
Smon: vs Hakeem:
Smon: /roll 1d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 66, (+4) = 10
Smon: he fends it off
Smon: vs Tor:
chris107: phew
Smon: /roll 1d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 1818, (+4) = 22
chris107:
Smon: It bites Tor's ankle.
Smon: /roll 1d4+2
Smon rolls 1d4+2 and gets: 44, (+2) = 6
Smon: luckily dwarves are poison resistant...
Smon: save vs poison, you have Advantage so roll 2d20 Tor
atherton rolls 2d20 and gets: 2020, 88, = 28
chris107: nice one Athers
Smon: ok, Tor only takes 6 dmg
chris107: Hakeem stomps away
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 44, (+3) = 7
chris107: Grrr! Pesky things
Smon: It scurries away from Hakeem.
Smon: Is Tor still searching rubble while the centipede scurries over him?
atherton: I'll knock it in Hakeem's direction
atherton rolls 1d20 and gets: 1111,
Smon: Tor knocks the centipede and flings it over to Hakeem.
atherton: 16 strength, so thats a 13 or 14?
Smon: Not liking Tor's taste much, it goes for the tasty Altanian.
Smon: 2 vs Hakeem
Smon: /roll 1d20+4x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+4x2 and gets:
2 (+4) = 6
3 (+4) = 7
Smon: lucky!
chris107: Very
chris107: Hakeem continues to stomp
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 1717, (+3) = 20
Smon: Tor isn't seeing any treasure, just bits of broken statue.
Smon: Aya tries to get Max to attack the centipedes, he whimpers, afraid.
Smon: "Get them, Max!"
Smon: /roll d20+3
Smon rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 1515, (+3) = 18
Smon: success!
chris107: STOMP-STOMP!
Smon: Hakeem stomps a centipede as Max lunges at the last one, biting at it.
chris107: "Good boy Max!"
Smon: /roll 1d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 1414, (+4) = 18
Smon: *chomp*
Smon: Max bites it in two, then whines, a horrible taste in his mouth.
Smon: You are victorious.
chris107: Yeah!
chris107: Any further exits visible?
Smon: With the battle over, Aya comes in and starts collecting slingshot.
Smon: No exits here.
Smon: This one has non recessed alcove in the back wall.
Smon: no
atherton: if I don't find anything, I'll help gather up or make shot (with the hammer) for Aya
Smon: Aya refills her pouch.
Smon: /roll 1d100
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets: 444444,
chris107: Hakeem looks around hopefully for any thing of value. He gets a distinct feeling that rubble isn't worth a lot.
chris107: Double doors now Athers?
Smon: /roll 1d20+1
Smon rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 22, (+1) = 3
atherton: next week Chris, its coming up on dinner time for me
Smon: You hear the very un-stealthy sound of gnoll howling, getting closer.
chris107: Can we tell how many from the sound?
atherton: might be time for a tactical retreat if the gnolls hve found us
Smon: /roll d20+1
Smon rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 1919, (+1) = 20
Smon: /roll d4+1
Smon rolls 1d4+1 and gets: 44, (+1) = 5
Smon: 5
Smon: Aya: "Err... time to go?"
chris107: Could well be time to leg it back to town then
chris107: And hope we got 100XP each
Smon: Yeah
Smon: GM: You flee.
atherton: we let it
atherton: and its dinner
atherton: catch you chaps later!
chris107: By Dave.
10:05am  2015-4-01 atherton Has exited the room
chris107: 5 Gnolls is a lot.
Smon: As you cross the entry hall, you hear gnolls coming from the eastern tunnel, the first of them appear at the entrance just as you make the surface, hot sun shining down. You flee the city, gnolls on your tail.
chris107: Don't want to get killed if I don't have to and it looked like Ather's time was up anyway.
Smon: You're playing tonight?
chris107: We got plenty done today in a short session
chris107: Yeah I can play tonight
chris107: What time?
Smon: OK, you make it to Selatine as night falls, around the same time Reynard & his new chum Kradis return from the Vaults of St Ulther.
Smon: 6.30pm tonight.
Smon: Lemme do xp now
chris107: Perfect
Smon: 775/3=
Smon: 258 each
chris107: 258
chris107:
Smon: ok, you level up - 10 hp.
Smon: Berserk or Wolf Totem?
chris107: 35HP
chris107: What does wolf totem do again?
Smon: While Raging your friends have Advantage on attacks vs enemies w/in 5' of you.
Smon: If you have tactically savvy friends like Rey it's good. Tor maybe not so much.
chris107: Mmmmm not sure. The Berserk kind of fits but is a bit too debilitating.
Smon: Going Wolf Totem for now?
chris107: The wolfy thing not so glam but won't bugger him up after a fight.
chris107:
chris107: Can I see how it goes? Been new to the rules and all?
Smon: btw rem you can make Reckless attacks - you have advantage but grant advantage too.
Smon: Choose 1 for now, can change later.
chris107: Reckless sounds right up Hakeems street.
chris107: Okay I'll choose Berserk for now
Smon: ok
chris107: See how it pans out.
Smon:
