chris107: any stealth roll
Sandor Sunneson: You'll roll a 1 when it matters
Smon: ok got me tea & Imp Brucke
chris107: providing he doesn't move more than 1/2 speed
chris107: Letme just pop down and check on the stew. Kyle should be home in 15 minutes so this will be the last time
chris107: 2 mins
Smon: Imp Brucke map - https://rpgcharacters.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/goblin-valley-production-3.jpg?w=529&h=369
Smon: Last session - http://smons.blogspot.co.uk/2017/12/3747-chaos-at-imp-brucke-3-sandor.html - quite a while ago!
Smon: >>Goblin: "Me take you see chief now..." Sandor Sunneson: yes Smon: He starts south down the trail...<<
Sandor Sunneson: yes, in 2017, last year!!
Sandor Sunneson: Yeah, we fought them at the tower and the 1 remaining goblin were going to see the goblin chief
Smon: GM: Shieldbiter goes off to see about killing a dragon, while Prisha tails along behind you, seeming distracted, no doubt thinking deep thoughts.
chris107: back
Smon: The goblin leads Sandor & Maglor (Prisha tailing) south through the woods from the ruined manor house around 700 yards, but under a half mile, until you see ahead a dark cave entrance...
chris107: Maglor keeps a keen eye out as his chums follow the goblin.
Smon: #6 on map.
Smon: Your goblin calls out in Goblin to the cave.
Smon: Anyone speak goblin? He says "Bree-Yark!"
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will look at Maglor
Smon: It looks like a natural cave entrance that has been crudely worked on; vines hang down from above, partially concealing the entry.
chris107: Maglor shrugs
Smon: After a pause, two sleepy-looking goblin sentries emerge, hefting javelins.
Smon: They stiffen in surprise at the sight of you. Your goblin calls out to them in goblin.
Smon: They call back, a conversation follows.
Smon: Your goblin turns to you. In common: "Me tell them got visitors. Me tell them all big mistake, fetch chief."
Smon: The goblin sentries duck back out of sight.
Smon: Your goblin shrugs: "We wait now."
Sandor Sunneson: Nice one
chris107: "Hope he's telling the truth" Whispers M quietly to S
Sandor Sunneson: Thinking the same S agrees
chris107: M strains to hear anything from within the cave (perception?)
Smon: Maglor's sensitive hearing picks up commotion within the goblin lair.
Smon: (did it on Passive)
chris107: (Does it sound warlike?)
Smon: Sounds like lots of sleepy goblins waking up, much scurrying.
chris107: okay, thanks.
Smon: Several minutes later the two sentries re-emerge, one calls out in Common: "Chief says you come now! Just two! And 'im!" - indicating your captive.
chris107: M shrugs fatalisticaly and follows.
Smon: Beyond the entry you see a 5' wide tunnel, a broad niche in the right hand wall for the sentries to stand.
Smon: One lets you pass, the other leads you into the goblin-stinky warren...
Sandor Sunneson: How many sentries?
Smon: Prisha shrugs and stays outside. 2 sentries like I said.
Sandor Sunneson: ha ha missed tha line, soz
Smon: The ceiling is low, about 5', you both have to duck.
Smon: Sandor ignites sword for light?
Sandor Sunneson: Yes
Smon: The floor is foul, littered with debris.
chris107: ewww
Sandor Sunneson: Skulls? Pooh? Food?
Smon: About 30' in the tunnel Y-junctions, the goblins take the left passage and it opens out into a large, smoky cave, still low ceilinged, clearly a living chamber.
Smon: There are heavy oak doors opposite & to your right inset in the cave walls.
Smon: /roll d20+10
Smon rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 13, (+10) = 23
Smon: The place is full of Goblins, including several massive goblin champions, one wielding a jagged battleaxe that shines with eldritch witchfire.
Smon: Looming over all though is the Ur-Goblin....
chris107: (Impressive)
Smon: "The Chief! Grood!" says your escort, indicating the giganticmassive and twisted ur-goblin seemingly carved from the dark rock walls themselves. He carries some kind of malachite rod or sceptre.
Sandor Sunneson: Ur-Goblin King goblin?
Sandor Sunneson: Answered
Smon: "I AM GROOD! UR-GOBLIN!" says the Chief.
chris107: Maglor bows most deeply
Sandor Sunneson: Good Day Grood, I am Sandor and will bow too
Smon: He glares at you, his eyes almost on Maglor's level!
Smon: The Chief looks happy as you bow.
Smon: "AYE! BOW BEFORE GROOD!"
Sandor Sunneson: We are investigating the fall out of what happened between you and the villagers
Smon: The scantily clad & bejewelled goblin concubines around Grood disport themselves.
Sandor Sunneson: There is something strange awash happening
Smon: The tribe regard you keenly.
Smon: "BETRAYAL! FOR COUNTLESS CENTURIES WE HAVE LIVED IN PEACE WITH THE OOMANS! NOW THEY HAVE 'TRAYED US!!"
Smon: He glares at you. "IS THAT NOT SO??"
Sandor Sunneson: I think there is dark magic at work
chris107: "They did not your most illustrious majesty."
Smon: Both make Persuasion checks, DC 10
chris107: "They are as shocked as you."
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will tell him of the cheeses they were selling and the strange side affects they had,
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 14,
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 13, (+3) = 16
chris107: (The cheeses?)
Smon: The Chief listens to your tale, nodding.
Smon: "HMMPH. THIS IS IMP BRUCKE. STRANGE THINGS APPEN. GOBLINS GROW STRONG ON MAGIC. WEAK HUMANS SCREW UP!"
chris107: (OOC, you think the cheeses are to blame, Furg?)
Sandor Sunneson: (Think they may have had magic cast on them to make them have those side effects, cheesewoman said that hadn't happened before)
chris107: (Another manifestation of the Chaos-warp?)
Sandor Sunneson: (No Chrus, maybe someone spiced them up in some way)
Smon: gm: Your PCs whisper about cheeses...
chris107: (Okay, thanks Fergus. I'll go back to listening )
chris107: "Strange forces are indeed at work, but with no malice from your human friends."
Sandor Sunneson: We were wondering if you had seen any new faces in the area, possibly who had caused this fall out? And used the villagers as bait
Sandor Sunneson: How did the fall out happen from your perspective Mighty Grood?
Smon: Chief Grood crosses his arms, lowering his voice. "New faces - just those two ooman witches, last night. Me sent boys capture them... You kill my boys. Me sent four gobs to Elkins farm... they not come back. Me misses me Goblins! What gifts you bring, for say sorry?"
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will give him a pouch of 100gp
chris107: Maglor eyes the pouch greedily but says nothing.
Sandor Sunneson: When were they sent to Elkins farm??
Smon: Sandor offers a small coin pouch. A goblin scurries forward, takes it & presents it to the chief, who regards the contents with disapproval.
Smon: "This not enuff!" He looks at Maglor. "For Ceremony! Like ev'ry year!"
Sandor Sunneson: Yes, the fight, another tragic development of this
chris107: £5K, not pad
chris107: brb
Smon: The goblins glare at you. Grood: "Want more! Elf, what you give us?"
Sandor Sunneson: Apart from Goblin chief, how many champions are there ?
Smon: Looks like 6 are unusually large.
chris107: Maglor shrugs apologeticaly
chris107: He has 18GP to his name.
chris107: "I will compose a poem to your glory!"
Smon: You see an aged goblin shaman in cowled robes shuffle forward and whisper in Grood's ear.
Smon: make a Persuasion check Maglor, DC 18
Sandor Sunneson: Tell us this magic you grow strong on? Where ca it be found??
chris107: "It will be spoken far and wide and the name of Grood shall enter legend!"
Smon: Grood: "Magic all round us! This special place!"
chris107: (Could I try the poem first?)
Smon: >>make a Persuasion check Maglor, DC 18<<
chris107 rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 5, (+3) = 8
Smon: Grood: "Not want Poem! Want Magic!"
chris107: (Pems make better role play than persuasion checks )
Smon: He points at Sandor's burning sword. "Like that!"
Sandor Sunneson: How long has this magic been here?
chris107: Maglor conjours illusions
Smon: (check was to see if he'd listen to the poem)
Sandor Sunneson: Months? Years?
chris107: Illusions of the mighty Grood
Smon: The goblin tribe gasps at Maglor's display.
chris107: Frolicking with beautiful goblin maidens
chris107: (Got you)
chris107: His 'virility' is obvious to all
chris107: quite obscenly so.
Smon: The ancient shaman speaks up, wheezily. "The... magic... has always been here! Since the long-ago time... It is why Goblin and Human may live in Peace! ...But the Humans have Violated the Pact! They must make Amends! Or the Agreement is Dead!"
Smon: Grood ignores his shaman, focusing on the erotic goblin escapades.
Sandor Sunneson: How did they violate the Pact? How did this start?
Smon: He claps stony paws. "Is good! Give us this Magic!"
Sandor Sunneson: What changed Wise Cleric?
Smon: Shaman: "Started it did, when we sent the Four to Elkins Farm, as every year... they did not return! The Magick has become Warped!"
chris107: Maglor tries to buy more time for Sandor to find stuff out
chris107: The antics of the illusionary females becoming positively depraved
Sandor Sunneson: Have there been any other effects of this magic ??
Smon: Shaman: "Erhur Elkins was foolish! He mis-layed the Runes! The Magicks of Khaos took Revenge!"
chris107: The expansion of the Ur-Goblins endowment stretching the area of effect of the spell
Sandor Sunneson: Where should he have placed them? Where did he mislay them?
Smon: Shaman glares at Sandor. "Always, the Magick is strong in this place.... But stranger now, yes."
Smon: The Shaman looks contemptuously at Sandor, shakes his head. "You not Wizard. You not Understand."
Sandor Sunneson: What do you mean by stranger?
Smon: make a CHA+Prof roll Sandor, DC 15
Sandor Sunneson: Can you come with us to Elkins Farm? We can investigate and help you?
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 11,
Sandor Sunneson: +5=16
Smon: 16 is pass.
chris107: nice one Fergus!
Sandor Sunneson: We do not come from this town, but want to see peace restored
Smon: Shaman: "Hm... We will do the Magicks again. Right this time. When night falls."
Sandor Sunneson: So are willing to help
Smon: Shaman: "Four from the Town must be there, and Four of Us. Send the Cheesemongers, the Ironsmith, and the one who runs the Inn. I will come with my Apprentice and two of our finest. Together we will lay the Chaos..."
Smon: Grood is ignoring all this, happily engrossed in Maglor's obscene display. He waves distractedly at you. "Yes - do that, like Wizard sez."
chris107: Yay!
Sandor Sunneson: Ok, sounds like a plan, shall we go now then?
Smon: Shaman: "Just one more thing...."
Sandor Sunneson: What time is it now?
Smon: afternoon now
Sandor Sunneson: cool, he didn't ask shall we go now then
chris107: (Perfect timing, we get to rest and level )
Sandor Sunneson: Yes wise Cleric?
Smon: Shaman: "The Chaos has awoken the Stirge Heart in the ruined tower... First you must Slay it!"
Sandor Sunneson: We defeated the evil at the tower
chris107: "May we rest here for an hour before we do?"
Smon: Grood nods. "Rest! But keep up show!"
Sandor Sunneson: Dire wolves and a mud thing
chris107: (We only killed a few stirges)
chris107: (That was the ruined manor)
Smon: Shaman looks at Sandor: "No! Not ruined house! Tower - across river! Stirge Tower!"
Sandor Sunneson: Ah ok,
chris107: "I promise Mighty Grood a special show once the peace is restored."
Smon: He waves his stick under Sandor's nose.
Smon: GM: You just have time to take a short rest then get to Sidral's Tower before dusk.
Smon: GM: Are you resting in the hall of the goblin king?
chris107: OOC - Perfect!
Sandor Sunneson: We have to be quick at the tower Maglor before it gets dark
Sandor Sunneson: yes?
chris107: OOC - perhaps we should rest in the inn, letting the folks know what's proposed?
Smon: GM: Goblin wenches pass around goblets of thick black mushroom wine.
Smon: OOC your OOCs would need to be whispered ICs.
Sandor Sunneson: Good thinking Maglor
Smon: Unless you have telepathy.
chris107: okay
chris107: "I feel we must alert the good folks of the village that we will be trying the ceremony again tonight."
chris107: "Then we will go sort out this Stirge Heart thingie and meet you later."
Smon: GM: OK you bid farewell to the goblins and head back west through the woods, picking up Prisha. Crossing the stone bridge you return to the village.
Sandor Sunneson: So head to the village and rest
Smon: Back at the Inn you gather the villagers and tell them the plan.
chris107: "And then to celebrate the succesful ceremony... More magic for the Ur-Goblin!"
Sandor Sunneson: and get the monger, smith and inn owner
Sandor Sunneson: mongers even
Smon: The cheesemongers look concerned, but Old Chumpin quietens them. "Tis the only way, ladies! I swear by the Iron Hammer of Chumpin Earthshaker, we shall put all to rights!"
Smon: He takes the rusty hammer down from the mantlepiece, giving it an enthusiastic twirl.
chris107: Any sign of those witches?
Smon: You sense, rather than hear, a low thrumming from the hammer.
chris107: (Maglor has his suspicions about the witches)
Smon: No sign of the witches.
chris107: Maglor admires the enchanted hammer
chris107: "Could those withces have been responsible for the rights failure?"
Smon: Maltooth Smith: "That rusty lump is no match for the Sword of Maltooth! Finest blade in all the land!"
Smon: Chumpin: "Well them witches turned up a few days after... if you ask me, I reckon it was the Curse of the Old Mill. Erhur Elkin always said he'd do it up, get it working - the Mill is cursed, she don't like that sort of talk."
Smon: GM: You complete a short rest (spend hd)
chris107: "My friend and I have to pay a visit to the tower. Will you guys be okay preparing for the ritual?"
chris107: (All HD are used for me )
Smon: Chumpin: "Aye! Depend on us, friend Elf." The sun is lowering in the west as you hurry over to Sidral's Tower.
Smon: No sign of Stirges in flight as you approach...
chris107: so with new hit dice 66/73HP
Sandor Sunneson: Ok, we'll head to the tower
Smon: ok
Smon: Also referred to by locals as “Sid’s fort” and “Sid’s ruins” and “the pile o rocks on the hill”, no one in the area ever goes here because it is known to be dangerous, but also a danger that doesn’t seem to extend beyond the immediate area of the tower. The tower itself was once 50 or 60 feet tall, but now only the bottom 30 feet are intact, with crumbling remains above. The multiple interior levels have all collapsed, leaving a large interior space with a high, stone ceiling.
Smon: You can make Stealth checks; what armour is Sandor in?
chris107: M stays close (5') to Prince Sandor, his fiery blade drawn.
chris107: "Move slowly ..." M show him how
Sandor Sunneson: half breast plate
chris107 Rolls 1d20+13x2 and gets:

Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 2,
Sandor Sunneson: +5=7
Sandor Sunneson:
Sandor Sunneson: lol
Smon: Something weird - it appears to be the mutated and oversized remnants of a human or humanoid, almost “splattered” onto the ceiling of the chamber, with strange tendrils of flesh covering the ceiling and leading down the walls.
chris107: "Humans!"
Sandor Sunneson: DEX 16
chris107:
Sandor Sunneson: lol
Smon: Under a ruined stone chair on the west wall of the tower is a small rusted iron coffer.
Smon: Hanging from the ceiling are eight of the huge red stirges.
chris107: M avoids the tendrils
Smon: As Sandor kicks a pebble across the floor, the stirges rustlem eyes blink open sleepily...
chris107: Do they appear to be sleeping?
Smon: They *were* sleeping.
chris107: Oops
Smon: roll init, you have Surprise though
chris107: M slips into any nearby shadows.

Smon: (thx - Thieves are nice!) The stirges drop from the ceiling, while the threads of the Stirge Heart twitch like eerie tentacles...
Smon: (surprise ended)
Sandor Sunneson: Can Sandor get into a position so only one stirge can attack at a atime?
Smon: No, he could get in a corner so only 3 could attack, though.
Sandor Sunneson: ok
Smon: #14 Sandor (although you should have rolled twice, being a bbn!!!)
Sandor Sunneson: better that than 8
Sandor Sunneson: thought so
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20 and gets: 18,
Smon: Sandor backs into a corner - can also Ready his sword?
Sandor Sunneson: +3=21
Sandor Sunneson: Yes and ready to rage
Smon: You can Ready Rage if you like, I'll allow it.
Smon: Rage if enemy come w/in 5'.
Sandor Sunneson: ok

Smon: OOC You're lucky I'm only using their Labyrinth Lord hp not doubling for 5e!
Smon: R3
chris107: Deciding to avoid the tendrils
chris107: M shoots at a flying stirge from cover then hides again.
Smon: Maglor can make DC 12 Acrobatics check if he wants to skirt the tentacles and get to Sandor
Smon: OK but it will be obvs where he is after shooting in the hall.
chris107: if that's okay?
chris107: Mmmm
