Late M6 4447 - Hakeem in Hara

Malenn of Mitra wins over the crowd
7:54pm  2018-1-04 Smon Has entered the room
Smon: Hi Chris
Smon: Just messaged Fergus since I saw he was on Facebook
chris107: Evening Simon, Happy New Year!
Smon: Happy New Year
Smon: Shieldbiter has decided to go kill Matriarx the ancient black dragon...
Smon: Probably run that while you & Kyle are away.
chris107: Don't blame him. It was high on Hakeem's to do list before he became defacto emeror.
chris107: Acid could prove troublesome for SB's equipment but at least he can fly. Hope he can fly fast enough!
Smon: He quite likes the prospect of treasure, and stopping the dragon eating ships visiting Ahyf. But his main motivation is to get a gargantuan dragon head he can wave at smaller dragons to intimidate them into serving him.
chris107: hehe
chris107: Not enemies to be taken lightly .....
chris107: outdoors especiakky
Smon: He wants his own adult red dragon to fly, reckons getting an ancient dragon head will help with that.
chris107: He does seem to be heading towards the dark side...
chris107: But will look very stylish!
Smon: He wants to solo Matriarx. We'll see how it goes; I said I reckoned he has 80% victory chance, 20% dead Shieldbiter.
chris107: A comendable achievment if he succeeds
Smon: He says he can serve Hakeem better flying a dragon, leading a bunch of dragon knights. For your greater glory.
chris107: Yeah, sure
chris107: I'm looking forward to running the CSotWE stuff for you guys. See where it goes.
Smon: That should be cool.
chris107: An interesting boss fight with the Green Emperor when you're all level 20.
Smon: Bill says his kobold tribe have green bellies & glossy black back scales.
chris107: Very nice
Smon: I'm worried we'll all die to the slavers right away.
chris107: I'll get Phil to paint him up a miniature.
chris107: It could go that way. Not using CR after all.
Smon: He was telling me some stuff about how the farmer overseers used to treat the kobolds well, but the new one is mean to them, not letting them have their share of the rabbit meat.
chris107: I've been really enjoying writing stuff.
Smon: I guess if we survive & escape we should head for the Elsenwood, maybe try to find a brigand gang to join up.
Smon: Or maybe Gandalf will arrive to rescue us.
Smon: Looks like Fergus must be off FB.
chris107: I'm taking your advice and am going to let the NPC's and their motivations shape things. Those and the characters whon survive to become powerful.
chris107: I'm also just writing it sandbox style so hopefully you can go off in any direction.
Smon: Cool
chris107: (Though the Elsenwood may prove a wise choise  )
Smon: AFAICT if we can survive escaping & get some equipment our prospects should improve.
chris107: They should indeed.
Smon: I think you posted the Elsenwood elves are hostile to the Viridians, I doubt they love human outlaws either but seems a better chance than with the Viridians in the farmlands.
chris107: The first adventure is a bit of a railroad but after that the choices are yours to do as you will.
chris107: Developing the various factions and their motivations has been amazing fun.
Smon: Yeah, I love that bit
chris107: And just little one liners from a book written in 1980provide all the hints you need.
chris107: Probably not written that way intentionaly
chris107: And I now have the utmost respect and admiration for all the work you've done on the blog.
chris107: I hope mine develops so well as the years go by
Smon: Thanks.  I found that just doing it organically over time, it never feels like work.
chris107: I want to expand it as players discover stuff.
Smon: Do you have the 3e WoHF set?
chris107: I do not. I'm taking stuff from various online resources. New York Red Box, Bat in the Atic Games etc.
chris107: And mixing it all up with a healthy dose of how I see things
chris107: Like the outlawing of magic outside the nobility.
chris107: 1min, got to go check on the stew
Smon: OK well it's apparently too big for me to email
Smon: (even my work account won't accept it!)
chris107: Cripes!
chris107: It must be huge? Thanks for trying
Smon: If Fergus doesn't show, we could cover what Hakeem's doing?
Smon: 45 MB yup.
chris107: Sure, no probs
Smon: email caps at 25 & 34.
chris107: wow
chris107: big file
Smon: GM: So Hakeem travelled north with Malenn and some amazon guards to Hara, where he meets with Lord Bronze & Minars Rapak back from campaigning in the western lands.
chris107: I think Hakeem is still in a packing case. But I know him well enough to play I think
Smon: Minars: "The Arang-Tok orcs have been driven from the southern plains. Their survivors cower in the mountains."
chris107: He did, to install the lovely Malenn while he goes about business with the elves and Dwarves.
Smon: Hakeem - http://smons.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/5egh-chris-pc.html
chris107: "They will not stay quiet for ever. We must wipe them out. I miss Ursa at times like these. I thought he would be the one to do war upon the Arang-Tok."
chris107: Thanks Simon, that stuff I have it's the copious notes of allies and connections that I will miss
Smon: Hakeem can send Malenn east from Hara to Nerra to oversee the rebuilding of the Imperial City, along with the amazons & some Sword Knight bodyguards, maybe some Nerathi to keep them happy too. Who is Hakeem taking with him to the north?
Smon: Minars: "Let's heft a mead horn to the Dwarf!" The generals cheer.
chris107: Hakeem is happy to honour hisold friend by raising a tankard!
Smon: Lord Bronze quaffs, then puts down his mead horn: "The Orcs infest many caves and ruined fortresses all through the mountains... And Carchimish is poorly defended."
chris107: (Oddly, Maglor would have been the ideal travelling companion for Hakeem on this expedition)
Smon: (typical)
chris107: "We do need a strong hand on the tiller at Carchimish. I was thinking maybe Prince Sandor?"
chris107: "He needs some responsibility and areward for his service during the war..."
Smon: Bronze unfurls a map of Altanis-Nerath. "Kogol will keep a pressure on them from the west... But aye, there needs a better man in Carchimish. Your Sandor should do, I expect. He'll be expected to marry their princess, of course."
Smon: Minars: "A bitter fate!" he grins.
chris107: "We couldn't have defeated Crowfinger without his help."
Smon: Minars' own princess massages his massive shoulders.
chris107: "Hmmm that may not make me popular with my sister.."
chris107:
Smon: Bronze: "Queen Laurana? She is besotted with Sandor?"
chris107: "She doesn't seem to care that he doesn't add the bonuses to his dice rolls. She must have it bad."
Smon: Lady Anna Bronze sips her mead delicately. "I'm sure Queen Laurana will understand the diplomatic necessities, your Majesty."
chris107: "But that's a battle Prince Sandor must fight alone."
Smon: Minars: "And a tough battle, to be sure!"
chris107: "So we're all happy with Prince Sandor becoming King of Carchimish?"
Smon: Bronze shrugs. "Fine by me." Minars: "Aye! He's a good man." The others nod.
chris107: "He could no doubt work closely with Laurana to battle the Orc hostes remnents."
Smon: Bronze nods. "Aye - they'll have plenty of time to ...work... together. You know them both best, King-Regent. If you think this is best, we all trust you."
chris107: "Now I also hope I can rely on you to support Malenn as she will be my voice while I attend to some urgent diplomancy in the north."
Smon: The crowd nod enthusiastically, looking over at the lovely Paladin of Mitra who is chatting with Lady Llanet Bronze.
Smon: Minars: "Of course! An excellent choice." Bronze nods too.
chris107: "She may be better to look at than me but believe me she will be a hard task master. And I want you to respect her words as you would mine."
Smon: Anna: "Of course your Majesty. Talking of Skandiks... the new from Ossary is a little worrying, don't you think?"
chris107: "I do. I shall cut the head from that tretcherous dog and his red bitch lover."
chris107: "I warned Thuruar at the time that his soft heartedness would return to haunt us."
Smon: Bronze: "Hm. I don't think we're ready for another war just yet. You think next year ...?"
chris107: (OOC I really did!)
Smon: (yup!)
chris107: "Aye, they can wait for now. In fact it will give our grand admiral something to do. Keep her out of bloody mischief in Ahyf!"
chris107: "I think we need to set Sarene and her pirates to hunting Skandics."
Smon: Bronze: "In any case, it's a long, long way to Ossary from here. Too far for them to raid, even from Zothay - they'd need take a staging post first."
Smon: Minars and Lord Bronze both nod at the reference to Sarene.
chris107: "Agreed, they will likely settle for harrasing our coastal towns for now but we need not give them free reign."
Smon: Minars: "Aye, send her up there, sink those long ships of theirs before they come down here!"
chris107: "That's kind of what I had in mind. And if she happens to catch an axe to the head... well it may just save me a job later."
Smon: Bronze: "From what I hear of Sarene, she's best kept busy... very busy."
chris107: "I can not have Ahyf as a thorn in my side when we have so much to do."
Smon: There is a bit of a chill in the hall as Hakeem expresses a wish for Sarene's demise. The drinkers fall silent.
chris107: "Shielbiter needs to bring that town into line. Fast,"
chris107: "Oh don't be so glum. I like Sarene but she needs to take civilisation seriously. She can't run Ayhf like a pirates den."
Smon: Malenn comes over to Hakeem. "My love, Lady Llanet is offering to send some Haran troops with me to Nerra, along with the Amazons and a couple of your Sword Knights. What do you think?"
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 20,
chris107: "I think that would be splendid my love. Your safety is paramount after all."
Smon: The generals nod. Bronze: "Aye."
Smon: Malenn grins, and smiles sweetly at Lord Bronze, who smiles back. Malenn: "Thank you for the escort, Lord Namelin."
chris107: "Minars, is Laara still in town?"
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
Smon: Minars: "No, she's back with the Tribe, keeping them safe."
chris107: "Hmmm. How about your man Erneson?"
Smon: Malenn sits down beside Hakeem.
8:47pm  2018-1-04 Sandor Sunneson Has entered the room
Smon: Minars nods: "Aye, of course."
Smon: hi Fergus
chris107: "I'm going to need someone I can trust to come north with me."
chris107: Hi Fergus
chris107: Happy New Year!
Sandor Sunneson: hi Simon and Chris
chris107: (I think that someone just arrived  )
Sandor Sunneson: Same to you Chris
Smon: ooc map - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiM4Iz0vwQYcYmVQI143sXeiRIIQx6t9gFh8jT7ENDberVYAT3E58Q0RjMMoEJdq5I-0t-0LMOPwffcDaInitHqE7YZ3viv4NhmKZNiskEY1gMsM7OFUK0C4U3255_mP4xnio2y8iv91Nw/s1600/Ghinarian%252BHills.jpg
Smon: Hakeem could easily swing by the Greywolf tribe & pick up Laara on way north.
Sandor Sunneson: Am I in Sandor mode or Ajax?
Smon: Happy New Year Fergus
Sandor Sunneson: Sorry he;s dead
Sandor Sunneson: the monk boy
Smon: Sandro
Smon: No we were just doing Hakeem diplomacy
Sandor Sunneson: Yeah, that's him,
Sandor Sunneson: Ok,
Smon: Shall we do Imp Brucke now we have 2 players?
Sandor Sunneson: It's just tidying it up really? Any word from Javion ??
chris107: Hakeem intended to follow the Farhills, north to the Bistuni Highlands
Sandor Sunneson: Can do
chris107: Imp Broocke would be fab.
Smon: ok gimme 2 mins...
Sandor Sunneson: I hope that Magyar bloke comes back, his cleric was pretty cool
chris107: Congratulations on Prince Sandor becoming a King by the way
