L5+ 3/9/47 The Otroggic Hive #2 (400 XP) Danor Bright Star & Sandro

To 2.20pm.

7:22pm  2018-3-10 Smon Has entered the room
JamesDevil: yea....
JamesDevil: Hi Simon
Smon: Hi James & Fergus
Sandor Sunneson: Hi Simon
Smon: end of last session: >>Smon: The ebon carvings on the door almost seem to writhe with life. Smon: (never a Mario fan) Smon: No handle. Keelia: "Magic door," she murmurs to Sandro. "Need the tablet to disable the spells. Have a look around." Keelia: She'll investigate the room (and check in the chest under the straw) Sandor Sunneson: Ok, Sandro will look around joriandrake: ooc I like Luigi better too! Sandor Sunneson: checking walls, floors Keelia rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 5, (+6) = 11 Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 15, (+3) = 18 Smon: You take 10 minutes to search through the old living chamber (passive PER ok) until satisfied there is no matching tablet here. Keelia: passive is 18 Keelia: Bright Star sighs. "We're going to have to go chase the mushrooms off and check the water." Smon: OOC feels like a good stopping point if you want to go collect Danor & continue next week? Keelia: Works for me Sandor Sunneson: yeah, think so Smon: You can have another +300 XP Sandor Sunneson: Level up! L6 Keelia: Good job, Ferg! Smon: Also can take a Short Rest back at the entry grotto and level Sandro up.<<
Smon: Bright Star and Sandro return to the entry grotto where Danor is fixing his armour dents - short rest, Sandro levels up.
7:26pm  2018-3-10 Keelia Has entered the room
JamesDevil: Hi Keelia
Sandor Sunneson: 51 HP L6 monk
Smon: Hi Keelia!
Keelia: hi! Just give me a couple of minutes for tea and to organise myself
Sandor Sunneson: Morning Kelia
JamesDevil: gratz on the level ups
Sandor Sunneson: Keelia
JamesDevil: I'm pretty certain that i can use the mending cantrip to fix my armour up
Smon: Yes Danor is fine
Smon: & w cantrip, repairs are quiet too!
Sandor Sunneson: cheers
Keelia: OK. I've got tea and am working on waking up, so ready enough
JamesDevil: hows everyone doing hp wise?
Smon: You all spent any hd you want to spend?
Keelia: All good.
Smon: OK so you are all in the entry grotto with the rope hanging down, Vuthrik waiting 20' above in the wolf cave.
Smon: It's now about 1pm.
JamesDevil: "so what did you find after a last saw you?"
Sandor Sunneson: All good here too
Keelia: we still need to find that magic tablet for the key
Keelia: Bright Star turns to Danor and explains their adventures but stresses the magically locked door that needs a tablet to open it (as per some rooms in StoneHell)
Keelia: She also mentions the little moving mushrooms which were oddly fascinating and they had avoided disturbing
JamesDevil: "hmm, interesting"
Sandor Sunneson: oh yeah, them
JamesDevil: "lead the way then, lets go have a look at these moving mushrooms"
Smon: The caves and tunnels of the Nest are humid and warm, almost unnaturally so. A layer of dirt and gravel covers the floors of these caverns, growing thicker in places like the fungus grove you saw. The walls are wet and often covered by the silvery trails of slugs and snails. Puddles of standing water are common.
There is an inordinate amount of disgusting, but apparently harmless vermin in the caves: worms, spiders, slugs, snails, roaches, pill bugs, earwigs, etc., who scuttled away from you as you explored the Nest. The pests have an unnerving habit of getting into clothing, food, and hair...
Keelia: She explains there was a worked stone room with a pool of water (surrounded by the moving mushrooms) and the locked room was off of that but there were also two hall ways that went back to unworked stone.
JamesDevil: my preference is worked stone, anyone need some light?
Smon: From the intersection SE of the entry grotto, 4 more tunnels lead off - to NE E S and W. You know the W tunnel ends at the cave with the coloured pools. SE tunnel goes to the fungus garden cave. It seems likely that the E tunnel goes directly to the worked stone chamber with the ambulant mushrooms.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Smon: Seems like the big bugs are avoiding you
JamesDevil: hows visibility for our hummy friend?
Keelia: Bright Star wants to go poke in the coloured pools quickly to see if the table is hiding in the water.
Smon: GM: Sandro needs light to see until you near the mushroom hall or fungus cave.
Keelia: She raises this to the others - just to check while they are passing
Sandor Sunneson: Sandro agrees, lets go
JamesDevil: Danor will follow
JamesDevil: Sanor casts light on a small stone and passes it to Sandro
JamesDevil: feel free to toss it when you don't need it anymore
Smon: GM: OK you three head east from the intersection, soon there is enough fungal light for Sandro to see so Danor can douse his cantrip.
JamesDevil: done
Smon: You see ahead: The natural caves give way to worked stone here, indicating that intelligent beings formed this chamber. The walls and ceiling are covered by a myriad of cracks that seep water, and a pool of mineral-laden red water has accumulated in the center of the room. A colony of motley mushroom, each 4‘ tall and colored purple, blue, and pink crowd around the verge of the pool.
JamesDevil: do any of us know what they are?
Smon: The chamber is 40x40, with 10' cut tunnels off to N E S and W (your approach). The E tunnel you know leads into the old barracks with the magic door off it.
JamesDevil: other than big fungus
Smon: Can roll Nature (INT) Danor w advtg for dwarfiness
JamesDevil rolls 1d20 and gets: 2,
JamesDevil rolls 1d20 and gets: 11,
JamesDevil: not a good start
Smon: +3 prof = 14? DC 15
Keelia: get those bad rolls out of the way
JamesDevil: no prof
Smon: They're some kind of weird mushroom
JamesDevil: o wait
JamesDevil: so, you're right
JamesDevil: hmm, anyone speak plant?
Smon: As Danor watches, a couple of the shrooms shuffle a few inches along the water's edge.
JamesDevil: "not sure what to do here friends, any ideas?"
Keelia: "The mushrooms walk" Bright Star murmurs softly.
Keelia: "Bright Star and Sandro snuck around them before, but your armour does not allow for this. But we need too find the magic tablet key
Sandor Sunneson: Sandro will approach them
JamesDevil: "not the weirdest thing I've seen....."
Smon: You count 20 mushrooms.
Smon: Sandro steps out and walks towards them...
Smon: They shuffle away from him uneasily.
Sandor Sunneson: if they shuffle away he will continue along to shuffle them along
Smon: As he approaches the water's edge they part to either side.
Keelia: "They seem flighty, like birds, but the water needs to be checked for the tablet (and the water from the coloured pools at some point)
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Keelia: Bright Star readies a loop of trip wire to lasso him should this all go very wrong
Smon: The ones at the back start to bump into the ones further away from Sandro, increasing their agitation.
JamesDevil: Danor readies a sacred flame
Keelia: "Can you see aught in the pool?" Bright Star asks softly
Smon: As Sandro comes up to the water's edge, one mushroom trips, almost falls on its stalk! Suddenly they seem to panic; bouncing mushrooms rushing hither and thither across the chamber!
JamesDevil: Danor steps closer to Sandor
Keelia: she watches the mushrooms with startled curiosity. All these things running around that beg to be chased! But she restrains herself
Smon: GM: on a 4-6 mushrooms bowl into Sandro (first), Danor & BS (2nd roll)
Sandor Sunneson: on phone]
Smon: /roll d6x2
Smon Rolls 1d6x2 and gets:
3 = 3
1 = 1
Smon: You're in luck - all the mushrooms flee away from Sandro - and Danor - with a weird bouncing hop movement they rush out the north and south exits, leaving the room.
JamesDevil: Danor ceases holding sacred flame
JamesDevil: well, at least that ended safely
Keelia: Bright Star watches them stream out and puts away her wire. She joins Sandro at the pool to investigate.
JamesDevil: Guidance on BS while she checks the pool
Smon: Danor can see better than Sandro into the shallow pool of rust-red water; it contains a few pebbles and similar debris.
Smon: /roll d6x2
Smon Rolls 1d6x2 and gets:
5 = 5
2 = 2
JamesDevil: nothing in there of worth, shall we back track to the other pools?
Keelia: How deep is it?
Smon: The mushrooms avoid running into any wandering monsters, lucky things
Smon: BS comes over and looks - it's up to about a foot deep in the middle.
Keelia: She's going to use an arrow to check to make sure that nothing is hidden in the water before they go
Keelia: Just to be thorough.
Smon: About 12' or so across, and roughly square shaped where the stone floor lowers a bit in the centre of the chamber.

Smon: BS goes in the water to poke around?
Smon: Or just stands at the edge?
Keelia: No, poke around from the edges, make sure the bottom is actually the bottom
Keelia: And there isn't silt or something that could hide the tablet
Smon: There is a crunch of sandy debris under the arrow point, but nothing odd.
Keelia: She checks the arrow for damage then (if undamaged) puts it away
Smon: It'll take about 30 minutes to check the whole area by poling w arrow, do you want to do that?
Smon: poking
Smon: arrow is ok so far
Keelia: No, not at the moment. There's other places to check for the tablet first
Keelia: "We have not yet gone north from here, or we could double back and try the North East pass from the previous room."
JamesDevil: lets go north
JamesDevil: we're here already
Keelia: Bright Star nods and turns North, keeping an eye out for the mushrooms which had fled that way.
JamesDevil: Danor heads towards the north exit
Smon: GM: You head down the 10' wide cut north tunnel some 40' - after 20' it bends NNE and turns rougher - before reaching an e-w T-junction. Almost no light here. The W tunnel looks to Danor to go slightly left. The E tunnel runs E out of sight.
Smon: /roll d2
Smon rolls 1d2 and gets: 2
Smon: /roll d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 2, (+4) = 6
JamesDevil: any sign which way the shrooms went?
Smon: You hear the sounds of shuffling mushrooms from the east, receding from you.
Smon: Sandro is almost blind here.
JamesDevil: "ok, the mushrooms went east, do we want to follow or go west?"
JamesDevil: Danor casts light on another stone and passes it to Sandor
Keelia: Bright Star wonders if West simply goes back to the main split (if it turns slightly left, that's going South, so probably that NE room from the 5 branch hall way).
Keelia: So probably East
JamesDevil: "Sandor east ok?"
Smon: In the light from the stone, Danor and BS can see (low light vision) a cluster of mushrooms 90' away to the east, moving slower now. It looks as if the tunnel opens up into a cave and they are beginning to move into it.
Smon: You follow the mushrooms east in the light from the stone...
JamesDevil: We'll stop when we reach the cave opening
Smon: The mushrooms seem to have stopped in a cave about 20x20, with a single tunnel running off to the south... Suddenly something gloopy drops from the cave ceiling onto a mushroom!
Smon: A thick, foul stench hangs in the air at this point where the tunnel widens and turns south. This odor, which smells like a mixture of rotten meat and swamp water, is familiar to Danor & Bright Star from forays into Stonehell - Green Slime!
Keelia: Bright Star recoils back - she is not fond of ooze
JamesDevil: "Ugh, anotehr slime"
JamesDevil: Danor casts Sacred flame if its still distracted eating the mushroom
Smon: The rest of the mushrooms aren't reacting as one of their number begins to liquefy.
Smon: Danor brings down holy radiance on slime & mushroom - roll dmg
JamesDevil rolls 2d8 and gets: 5, 8, = 13
JamesDevil: it needed to make a dex 15 save
Smon: it can't
JamesDevil: wahoo!
JamesDevil: BURN IN MY ANGRY
Keelia: (nice :))
Smon: The slime is burned away in the searing power of the Forge!
Smon: With only 2 hp dmg left over, the mushroom survives the emergency excision!
JamesDevil: "That was easier than i expected....."
Smon: Mushroom at 3/5 hp
JamesDevil: Danor checks the ceiling for more slimes
JamesDevil rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 10, (+7) = 17
Smon: There is a discolouration where the slime was hanging, but no more slimes.
Smon: The mushrooms are beginning to move slowly towards you.
JamesDevil: "ok, i think we're clear"
Keelia: Bright Star edges closer after Danor gives the all-clear.
Smon: It looks like they want to exit back the west tunnel. If you hugged the N wall they might move past you.
Keelia: Bright Star easies towards the South tunnel - wanting to avoid spooking the mushrooms.
JamesDevil: Danor steps to the side to let the mushrooms pass
Smon: Last time they panicked when Sandro got too close
Keelia: She'll stay along the wall
JamesDevil: Danor hugs the N wall
Smon: You move out of the way... the mushrooms move past... is it your imagination, or does the last, injured one incline its 'head' to Danor in thanks as it goes past?
JamesDevil: Danor nods back a little confused as to why he is doing so
Smon: After a couple minutes the cave is clear, the mushrooms moving slowly back down the west tunnel.
Smon: The floor of this cave is devoid of any organic debris, likely consumed by the slime.
Keelia: Bright Star watches the mushrooms toddle off then heads south.
JamesDevil: Danor moves toward the southern exit
Keelia: *watching the ceiling for any other surprises
Sandor Sunneson: sorry about that, random family skype call from NZ
Smon: The south tunnel snakes along
JamesDevil: ooc a random family called you? very odd
Sandor Sunneson: back :)(Ha ha
Keelia: (no worries! killed a slime, saved a mushroom, heading down south tunnel)
JamesDevil: "lets push on, this cave seems clear"
Smon: after about 60' it bends sw for another 80' then turns suddenly se and after 15' opens out into another cave...
Smon: You hear rushing water.
Sandor Sunneson: push on
JamesDevil: What do we see in this cave when we look in?
Smon: A fast-moving stream erupts from the north-east wall to form an 8‘ deep, 10‘ wide torrent across the cave. The rotted remains of a footbridge still stand on the far side of the stream, but there is no way to cross the churning rapids.

JamesDevil: 10 feet wide? we can jump that surely
Keelia: (probably not in your heavy armour)
Smon: GM: With the uneven floor, the 10' stream is equivalent to a 14' wide jump in open terrain, ie STR 14+ to jump safely, otherwise need athletics check, disad if armour imposes disad for stealth
JamesDevil: my str is 15
Keelia: (I have str of -1)
JamesDevil: hmm
Smon: I'll allow Acrobatics also
Keelia: (aka
Keelia: mm, +7 is still a bit iffy.
Smon: So it'd be DC 10 Acrobatics
JamesDevil: is the bridge long enough that it will reach across if we can pull it back up?
Smon: no
JamesDevil: hmm, anything else in here?
Smon: Danor's mighty thews should get him over the jump.
Keelia: Bright Star is going to draw her bow and aim for the rotting bridge with some trip wire tied to the end of the arrow. Then she'll give it a good yank to see if the bridge remains are stable
Keelia: (Ferg, can Sandro make that?)
Smon: The stream flows out through a lateral crack in the SW wall.
Smon: The tunnel exits via the se side of the cave, opposite.
JamesDevil: any large stalactites on our side?
Smon: OK BS ties wire to an arrow, shoots the bridge remains opposite, and tugs... a piece of rotten wood comes away.
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 4,
Sandor Sunneson: He'll give it a go
JamesDevil: ok, who wants to try first?
Smon: No 10' long stalactites, one is 4' long.
Keelia: She draws back the arrow and puts it and the wire away.
JamesDevil: I'll guidance us one by one as we try it
Keelia: She ties a rope around her waist and hands the end to Danor.
JamesDevil: "you can do it kitty"
Keelia: "Bright Star will go first. If she fails, pull her from the water.
Smon: It looks like the rushing water would carry you swiftly to the crack if you fell in.
JamesDevil: Danor pats he back cos he can't reach her head
JamesDevil: her*
Smon: LOL
Sandor Sunneson:
Keelia rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 5, (+7) = 12
Smon: BS just makes the leap!
JamesDevil: Danor braces himself in case she fails
Smon: Her fur remains un-wetted.
Sandor Sunneson: Sandro reeady to grab Danor
JamesDevil: untie your end and then Sandor can go
Keelia: She unties the rope and throws it back
Smon: Sandro, Sandor is Fergus' other PC
JamesDevil: "you can do it hummy*
Keelia: (Bright Star stands out of the way)
Smon: If Sandro is jumping, roll Acrobatics (or Athletics)
Smon: I'll get more tea while we see if Fergus comes back, brb
Sandor Sunneson: will do, just checking bonuses on Monk sheet
Sandor Sunneson: soz
JamesDevil: quick bio for me
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 11, (+6) = 17
Keelia: (nice bonus!)
Sandor Sunneson: can use DEX instead of STR
JamesDevil: back
Keelia: Bright Star grabs onto the other end of the rope with Sandro and waits for Danor to make the leap
JamesDevil: right, so Athletics at disadvantage right?
JamesDevil: Guidancing myself ofc
JamesDevil rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 18, (+2) = 20
JamesDevil rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 15, (+2) = 17
Keelia: You can use Str of 14+ to make it safely)
JamesDevil: wheres the fun in that?
Keelia: you didn't need to do athletics but you made it
Smon: Danor leaps across, joining Sandro & BS.
JamesDevil: Dwarf 1, stream 0
Smon:
JamesDevil: right, onwards!
Sandor Sunneson: lol
Smon: The tunnel out the se wall immediately turns s.
Keelia: Bright Star puts the rope away as they prepare to move onward
Smon: then se, running on.
Smon: The bugs skittering underfoot seem even more frequent here.
Smon: slime trails of many large slugs coat ceiling and walls.
JamesDevil: as long as they are underfoot and not in my beard its ok
Sandor Sunneson: Like Men in Black
Keelia: Bright Star picks her footsteps carefully so as to avoid ruining her boots
Smon: After running SE 50' or so the tunnel reaches a 15' wide opening in the E/left wall.
Keelia: Bright Star peers into the opening
Sandor Sunneson: Bugs here?
Smon: Yes... Looking into the opening/recess, you see it's a cave about 20' deep, much higher ceilinged than the tunnel.
JamesDevil: Danor tosses a stone with light on it into the opening
Keelia: Bright Star will step in (checking the ceiling first)
Smon: A 15‘ tall idol of what matches the rusty statue above - the demon lord Otrogg? - stands at the far end of this damp cave, its pest-formed arms outstretched to touch the walls of the cavern as if holding them back. A simple stone block before the idol serves as an altar. At the statue‘s feet is an empty basin.
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 9,
Keelia: Can Bright Star tell what was in the basin before?
Smon: A vague sense of unease emanates from the vile statue
Smon: It looks like an offering basin, designed to receive the offerings of supplicants.
Keelia: Bright Star will keep her distance but see if she can spot anything that looks like a tablet that will fit into the magical door
JamesDevil: what this idol made of?
Sandor Sunneson: Any supplicants or other randoms about? Apart from us ;lol
Keelia:
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Smon: No... but there is a faint blue fungal glow from down the sw tunnel.
Sandor Sunneson: No lol
Smon: BS looks around but can't see any tablet.
Sandor Sunneson: It's going to be a large marshmallow man or something like that
JamesDevil: Danor will move to investigate the blue glow
Sandor Sunneson: Sandro will follow Danor
Smon: It's made of a black stone - it looks soft, almost like coal.
JamesDevil: ooc I swear to god if we get attacked by te stay pufff marshmellow man i am sacrificing you Sandro -.
Keelia: Bright Star wonders if it would be flammable and if it's soft, what's inside it, but she's too concerned its filled with bugs to touch it. She'll follow the otehrs
Smon: Past the alcove with the great statue, the tunnel continues SW some 50-60', the glow growing brighter until you can douse your pebble.
Smon: It opens into a great cavern, a true mushroom forest!
JamesDevil: "hmm, i'm sensing a theme"
JamesDevil: is there a path though the forest?
Smon: The ceiling of this grotto soars to a height of 40‘. The floor of the cave is crowded with dense stands of tall pallid mushrooms, each standing between 7‘ and 10‘ tall. The ground is covered in a moist layer of decomposing fungus from which waist-high toadstools grow. The stands of fungi make it impossible to see father than 15‘. A narrow path winds through the fungus, its edges lined with softly glowing puffball fungus at 20‘ intervals. These cantaloupe–sized spheres produce a faerie light of blue.
JamesDevil: hmm
Smon: There is a path, really 2 paths you can see - one W along the cave's south edge, the other NW through the forest.
JamesDevil: "do we want to head back an check the south park from the room where the mushrooms first were? or push on this way?
Sandor Sunneson: Forest?
Keelia: "Bright Star suggests we push forward. She does not want to try the river's patience."
JamesDevil: "good point"
JamesDevil: forest it is then
Smon: W or NW path?
Keelia: NW is probably closer
JamesDevil: NW then
Keelia: Bright Star will edge along the wall towards the NW exit
Smon: GM: You head NW past glowing blue puffballs... ahead you see the N side of the cave, another tunnel leading off to the NE while the path turns W towards the middle of the cave...
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 5,
Smon: Suddenly you all hear a buzzing sound as coppery-winged beetles rise up from the mushroom forest to your west and fly towards you!
Smon: They look hungry... roll init
Sandor Sunneson: how many?
JamesDevil rolls 1d20 and gets: 14,
Keelia rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 4, (+6) = 10
Smon: 6+
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20+3 and gets: 3, (+3) = 6
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 1,
Smon: they seem pretty clumsy... you go first
Smon: you count 7 coming at you
JamesDevil: sacred flame at the closest one
JamesDevil: DC15 Dex save
JamesDevil: (is is probably a mistake)
JamesDevil: this*
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 11,
Smon: hit
JamesDevil rolls 2d8 and gets: 6, 5, = 11
JamesDevil: "BURN"
Smon: it explodes in flame!
Smon: crashes into a glowing puffball, which explodes in a shower of spores.
JamesDevil: end of turn
Smon: BS & Sandro can act
Keelia: Bright Star eyes the spores with concern but draws her bow. Can she hide behind anything?
Sandor Sunneson: attack x2 and then a further 2 attacks with flurry of blows
Smon: Yes there are mushrooms everywhere, 7-10' high
Smon: Sandro stands there out of melee range
Keelia: for sneak attack?
JamesDevil: lol
JamesDevil: dart man dart!
Smon: bs can roll hide check bonus action
Sandor Sunneson: ok, will dart them x2
Keelia rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 13, (+7) = 20
Smon: BS ducks into the 'wood'
Keelia: for stealth
Smon: hidden, can then pop out & shoot w advtg
Keelia: sorry, that should have been +13, so that's actually 26
Smon: nice
Keelia: She takes aim at the nearest
Keelia rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 15, (+7) = 22
Keelia rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 16, (+7) = 23
Smon: hit
Keelia: pretty sure that's a hit
Keelia rolls 4d6+4 and gets: 3, 5, 1, 6, (+4) = 19
Smon: The beetle goes into a spin and crashes amidst the shrooms.
Smon: Fergus I'll assume you have a dart bandoleer if you take off 25gp in which case I'll let you draw 2 darts in 1 round & throw
Smon: otherwise 1 object interaction to draw
Sandor Sunneson: got one on character sheet with ammo 12
Smon: There are 5 left, they draw closer... roll to hit
Smon: ok cool
Smon: 2 shots
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 4, (+5) = 9
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 3, (+5) = 8
Smon:
Smon: /roll d3x5
Smon Rolls 1d3x5 and gets:
2 = 2
3 = 3
2 = 2
3 = 3
2 = 2
Smon: Sandro misses...
JamesDevil:
Smon: They ignore Danor, 3 swoop in on BS, 2 at Sandro
Smon: vs Bright Star - they bite with lacerating mandibles...
JamesDevil: They fear the Dwarf, a wise move
Smon: /roll d20+4x3
Smon Rolls 1d20+4x3 and gets:
9 (+4) = 13
7 (+4) = 11
20 (+4) = 24
Keelia: ac 16, so one hit
Smon: 2 miss & 1 crit *ouch*
Smon: /roll 4d4+2
Smon rolls 4d4+2 and gets: 3, 3, 1, 4, (+2) = 13
Smon: 13 dmg
JamesDevil:
Keelia: uncanny dodge
Smon: >6
Keelia: as reaction
Smon: 6 dmg
Smon: 2 vs S
Smon: /roll d20+4x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+4x2 and gets:
4 (+4) = 8
6 (+4) = 10
Keelia: so with Danor's aid from before, only down 1 HP
Smon: They can't get at Sandro as he ducks amidst the shrooms.
Smon: The coppery winged beetles hover around you, trying to bite
Smon: They remind you of an identical inch-long beetle in the fields around Selatine, only grown to nearly 5' long!
Smon: 5 of the man-sized beetles remain... your goes
Smon: (any order)
JamesDevil: Danor casts searing smite as a bonus action then tries to attack one with him war hammer
Sandor Sunneson: Sandro will attack
Keelia: Hang on. What's in that water??? We did find that enlargement (possibly) potion... Wonder if it's in the water
JamesDevil rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 4, (+5) = 9
Sandor Sunneson: with sword
JamesDevil: :0
Smon: miss
Keelia: stealt
Keelia: roll d20+13
Keelia rolls 1d20+13 and gets: 13, (+13) = 26
Smon: BS is in melee so can't disengage + plus hide
JamesDevil: ooc well at least searing smite last till next hit...
Smon: She could take 2 opp atts to retreat then bonus action hide
Smon: sorry 3 opp atts
Keelia: I have Cunning action. which allows me to disengage.
Keelia: Without o/a
Keelia: no - even better!
Keelia: I have fancy footwork. Attack & retreat no o/a
Smon: Best bet is disengage bonus, move round to get away from 2, then can attack 1 - no advtg but can sneak if hit
Smon: fancy footwork only vs target
Keelia: ok, cunning action to disengage, move around and attack one.
Smon: ok ac 13
Keelia rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 18, (+7) = 25
Smon: hit
Keelia rolls 1d8+4 and gets: 3, (+4) = 7
Keelia rolls 3d6 and gets: 6, 3, 2, = 11
Smon: Sandro draws a sword as BS skewers a bug.
Sandor Sunneson Rolls 1d20+5x2 and gets:
6 (+5) = 11
8 (+5) = 13
Keelia: so total of 18 (sword + sneak att)
Smon: it drops dead

Smon: 6 dmg > 3 w reaction

JamesDevil: how are you doing health wise BS?
Smon: Proving the superiority of your genus.
JamesDevil: Danor stands proud
JamesDevil: well, prouder anyway
Keelia: 29/33 - i'm fine
JamesDevil: k, lets push on
Smon: From where you stand you can head down the NE tunnel out of the forest cavern, or go w along the path
Sandor Sunneson: at full
JamesDevil: more forest? or back to tunnels?
Sandor Sunneson: forest? plod on?
JamesDevil: i think more forest, maybe we can find some kind of source
JamesDevil: w it is
Smon: You can hear rushing water from the north, likely the same stream as you jumped before.
Keelia: Bright Star nods. The mushrooms have given them no trouble
Smon: Going west along the path you see a few paths off, and the far/west side of the cave, where a tunnel exits to the NW.
JamesDevil: i guess we head to that tunnel then
Smon: The whole cave is under 100' across you think, but the winding paths make it seem much larger.
Smon: You reach the nw tunnel exit
Smon: You see after 10' it forks, SW and N
Smon: A pale worm maybe 2' long writhes away from your boots through the muck.
Keelia: Bright Star shifts her feet away from it with a sigh over the muck.
JamesDevil: Danor casts Aid (+5 temp hp)
Keelia: She points N. "Shall we attempt N?"
Smon: OOC James if leaving now I'll do XP. You all get 400 XP
JamesDevil: I need to go now, Danor will trace his steps back to the entrance
JamesDevil: ooc yep, thxs, at 11K now, wish i didn't have to leave
Sandor Sunneson: nice one James, chat soon
Smon: Sweating in his armour from the heat, Danor needs to go lie down
JamesDevil: cya!
Smon: bye
JamesDevil: thxs for the run
Keelia: (Have a good evening, James)
9:31pm  2018-3-10 JamesDevil Has exited the room
Smon: BS and Sandro creep north...
Keelia: (time to switch to stealth mode  )
Smon: The tunnel bends NE and after about 35' opens into a 30' wide cave, a tunnel exit to N, where you behold a horrifying & Gigeresque sight...
Smon: Strewn about the floor of this brood cave are 2‘ tall pulsating sacks of mucus—giant beetle eggs. Several of these sacks have hatched and are now dried to a parchment-like texture. The floor of the cave is slick with strange, slightly-phosphorescent fluids. Four newly-hatched death grip beetles, the kind that grabbed Danor, scurry amongst the eggs and dried casings. At the back of the cavern, situated in a nest of fungi, lies the enormous mass of the death grip queen...
Smon: Must be 12' long!
Smon: roll stealth, roll well
Keelia rolls 1d20+13 and gets: 12, (+13) = 25
Smon: DEX+prof Sandro

Smon: BS is undetected
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 13, (+6) = 19
Smon: Sandro also undetected!
Smon: Unseen, you have a chance to oberve the hive...
Keelia: Bright Star looks to Sandro - do they fight or leave?
Smon: The 4 newly hatched ones are about 3' long, the horrifying queen must be 12', with gigantic death-grip pincers.
Sandor Sunneson: what do you mean by 2a? a with a hat on it?
Sandor Sunneson: strewn about the floor.......are 2a tall
Keelia: (two feet - the symbol gets corrupted)
Sandor Sunneson: ah, ok thanks
Sandor Sunneson: Would it be worth waiting till James is back and then taking on the Queen?
Sandor Sunneson: next sat possibly?
Keelia: Probably - it would be safer
Smon: There are 11 unhatched pulsating eggs BTW
Keelia: We can double back and go down the other tunnel
Sandor Sunneson: Maybe the queen is not in a position to fight after giving birth?
Sandor Sunneson: too tired to fight?
Keelia: worse comes to worse we run like hell?
Keelia: It'd be bad to leave these around...
Sandor Sunneson: Lete wait till the little dwarf is back,
Smon: It's true the queen is barely moving, just sitting there placidly on her fungus throne.
Sandor Sunneson: we're just really ending game in terms of time as James ain;t here
Smon: You want to stop there?
Keelia: Do you want to pause here, and pick it up next weekend then?
Sandor Sunneson: Yeah can do,
Keelia: OK - I have to fix the printer anyway
Smon: OK then, see you next week Keelia.
Sandor Sunneson: how many xp simon?
Smon: 400 for the session
Smon: Same as Danor
Sandor Sunneson: thank you
Keelia: Thanks for the good game!
Smon:
Keelia: See you guys next week, for the bug queen!
Smon: Good luck!
Keelia: Have a good one guys
