L5+ 3/9/47 The Otroggic Hive #3 (800-1000 XP)
Keelia: So, we have a couple of options, wait for Ferg and take on the bug queen and her spawn (we waited for you), start taking her one then run if we get it wrong, go elsewhere
Smon: End of last week session: >>9:31pm 2018-3-10 JamesDevil Has exited the room Smon: BS and Sandro creep north... Keelia: (time to switch to stealth mode ) Smon: The tunnel bends NE and after about 35' opens into a 30' wide cave, a tunnel exit to N, where you behold a horrifying & Gigeresque sight... Smon: Strewn about the floor of this brood cave are 2‘ tall pulsating sacks of mucus—giant beetle eggs. Several of these sacks have hatched and are now dried to a parchment-like texture. The floor of the cave is slick with strange, slightly-phosphorescent fluids. Four newly-hatched death grip beetles, the kind that grabbed Danor, scurry amongst the eggs and dried casings. At the back of the cavern, situated in a nest of fungi, lies the enormous mass of the death grip queen... Smon: Must be 12' long! <<
7:46pm 2018-3-17 Sandor Sunneson Has entered the room
Smon: >>The 4 newly hatched ones are about 3' long, the horrifying queen must be 12', with gigantic death-grip pincers. Sandor Sunneson: what do you mean by 2a? a with a hat on it? Sandor Sunneson: strewn about the floor.......are 2a tall Keelia: (two feet - the symbol gets corrupted) Sandor Sunneson: ah, ok thanks Sandor Sunneson: Would it be worth waiting till James is back and then taking on the Queen? Sandor Sunneson: next sat possibly? Keelia: Probably - it would be safer Smon: There are 11 unhatched pulsating eggs BTW Keelia: We can double back and go down the other tunnel Sandor Sunneson: Maybe the queen is not in a position to fight after giving birth? Sandor Sunneson: too tired to fight? Keelia: worse comes to worse we run like hell? Keelia: It'd be bad to leave these around... Sandor Sunneson: Lete wait till the little dwarf is back, Smon: It's true the queen is barely moving, just sitting there placidly on her fungus throne.<<
Smon: Hi Fergus! Full house!
Keelia: Ferg!
Smon: Thought for a bit it was just GM & the cat
Keelia: yes
Sandor Sunneson: Evening, bit cold out there !!
Smon: Yep!
Sandor Sunneson: Just back from Skye,
JamesDevil: yes, i noticed the cold as well
Sandor Sunneson: All good though
Keelia: is it still cold there? I have the opposite problems - it's going to be almost 40 here today.
Smon: GM: OK, so Bright Star & Sandro creep back to the mushroom forest and meet with Danor who was taking a short break, and explain they found the bug queen.
Smon: Snowing pretty heavily today in Wimbledon!
Sandor Sunneson: Yeah, around 0deg C, wind bitterly cold though
Keelia: brrr!
Smon: Wasn't as cold as Beast from the East time in early Marcg, but lots of snow.
Smon: Back at 2.5 weeks ago it was well below freezing! :-O
Sandor Sunneson: Worse down south, so no complaints
Keelia: and we all know how London does with the snow...
Smon: My University shut down! Classes cancelled!
Keelia: I heard about the super cold snap and the snow but i didn't know you were STILL getting more snow. That's a long cold snap!
Smon: GM: The exit NW out from the forest with the blue-glowing puffballs leads to a junction, tunnels snaking SW (bending right/NW after 20') and N/NE to the bug queen lair.
Smon: It was lovely & sunny yesterday! I was all set to go to Richmond Park today *sigh*
JamesDevil: bug queen eh? this'll be fun!
Smon: There is also a NE exit out from the mushroom forest cavern you have not taken, and you came in from the E.
Sandor Sunneson: oh yeah, her
Sandor Sunneson: Sandro using his d6+3 damage
Smon: Are you attacking the beetle queen or trying a different route? Or negotiating a diplomatic solution?
JamesDevil: in my opinion the only good bug is a dead bug
Keelia: I think we're going after the beetle.
JamesDevil: Queeny it is then
Keelia: Bright Star goes into sneak mode
Smon: If you all make stealth checks DC 8 you get surprise.
JamesDevil: Danor goes into.....clangy mode?
Smon: Danor has disad in his armour of course
Keelia rolls 1d20+13 and gets: 10, (+13) = 23

JamesDevil: i got the command wrong....can i just take the 19?
Smon: ok you all pass!
JamesDevil: hurray
JamesDevil: Danor suprises even himself at how awesome he is
Keelia: Bright Star has to look over her shoulder to make sure he's still there
Smon: Strewn about the floor of this 30' wide brood cave (another exit in N wall - you enter from SW) are 2‘ tall pulsating sacks of mucus—death grip beetle eggs. Several of these sacks have hatched and are now dried to a parchment-like texture. The floor of the cave is slick with strange, slightly-phosphorescent fluids. Four newly-hatched death grip beetles scurry amongst the eggs and dried casings. At the back of the cavern, situated in a nest of fungi, lies the death grip queen...

Keelia: to start. She's the one that makes more. They've got to grow up first.
Smon: GM: #26 Bright Star - you first
Sandor Sunneson: Ok, we all attack beetle then? Young might scurry away once mama ain't there
Keelia: Bright Star (already stealthy) aims at the queen with her arrows.
Keelia rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 15, (+7) = 22
JamesDevil: good point, all on mama first then
Smon: There are 4 young ones a bit under 3' long, and the queen almost 12' long.

Smon: Silence descends.
JamesDevil: right, lets see if the queeny had anything shiny in here
Keelia: Bright Star cheers to herself while she collects her arrows
JamesDevil: probably nothing but you never know
Smon: The light from the phosphorescent birth fluids illuminates the 11 egg sacs.
JamesDevil: sacred flame on the egg sacs
Smon: BS collects her arrows. No sign of any treasure, indeed the birth chamber is remarkably free of debris.
JamesDevil: Danor has had enough of these bugs for a lifetime
Smon: Danor gets to work exploding the eggs...
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
Keelia: Bright Star looks for anything tablet like
Keelia: rolling over the dead queen to check under her
Smon: A minute or so later all 11 are destroyed, gloop splattered all over the chamber. BS finds no tablet among the mushrooms beneath the queen.
JamesDevil: hmm, unfortunate
Keelia: There is an exit to the N
Smon: It looks as if the north exit tunnel runs 20' then Ys NW & NE.
JamesDevil: onwards i suppose
JamesDevil rolls 1d2 and gets: 2
JamesDevil: ooc Danor flipped a coin
JamesDevil: NE it is
Sandor Sunneson: NE it is
Smon: Danor steps up to the junction. There is a faint pinkish glow from the NE, multicoloured green lavender and yellow to NW.
JamesDevil: the coin has spoken, NE we go
Keelia: Bright Star shrugs and follows NE
Smon: Heading a few steps NE you see after 20' a cave about 20' across, much fungi & debris covering the floor, a narrow exit to NW and wider exit to S.
Smon: It looks familiar - you have seen this cave before from the NW.
Smon: As you watch, an enormous centipede emerges from the fungus undergrowth, skitters along then dives back into the low lying fungus bed.
JamesDevil: hmm, i assumwe then that we must have gone S from here before, lets backtrack and take the NW route from the last juntion
Keelia: ah. the centipede room
Smon: Probably about 18"-2' deep you reckon.
Smon: No you never entered it
Smon: Just looked in from NW exit
JamesDevil: ah, in which case lets go in and kill us a centipede
Keelia: Bright Star peers into the room for any sign of tablet
Keelia: (this is two rooms below the original mushroom around water room)
Smon: There could be any number of tablets hidden under the fungi bed.
Smon: (good mapping BS)
Smon: The stalactites and stalagmites of this cave are overgrown by a thick layer of moss and the walls weep with moisture. Patches of pink luminescent fungi grow about the floor, obscuring the broken bottles, rusted nails, and other sharp debris that litters the floor.
Keelia:
JamesDevil: i wonder if the fungi is flamable?
Smon: Sacred Flame won't light it, anyway.
JamesDevil: sacred flame on a patch of fungi on the opposite side of the room
JamesDevil: aw....

JamesDevil: yay for temp hit points
Keelia: Bright Star has many regrets at this particular moment
Smon: #11 BS - you see almost a dozen 2-3' long centipedes swarming over and around Danor.
Sandor Sunneson: If they attack Sandro with his AC, he's potentially goosed
Smon: BS you can act, then r2
Keelia: she's going to target one
Keelia rolls 1d20+7 and gets: 14, (+7) = 21

JamesDevil: right, so, like i said, does anyone have some way we can set this stuff on fire? it will make searching waaaaay easier
Keelia: but we'll choke on the fumes.
Smon: The debris largely hidden beneath the fungus is, as I mentioned, obscured bits of broken bottle, rusty nails & lots of yucky sharp stuff.
Smon: BS make a DC 10 DEX save to not cut paws.
JamesDevil: only if your above 4' tall.....o, right

Smon: Can still be punctured if sifting debris
JamesDevil: Hmm can i use my mace the poke at suspicious looking lumps in the fungus?
Smon: Yes - you don't know if that will accomplish anything but you can try.
JamesDevil: ok, Danor starts looking for suspicious looking lumps in the fungus
Smon: BTW you hear the sound of rushing water from the south exit.
Smon: Danor pokes around with his mace, squashing suspicious fungi and pushing debris around.

Smon: After about 30 minutes Danor has searched the whole cave and found nothing of interest. No tablet.
JamesDevil: hmm, Danor heads to the south exit
Keelia: Bright Star picks her path carefully after him.
JamesDevil: if either of them need to make another dex save i'll carry them one by one
Smon: Edging round the nasty room you exit south. The short south tunnel opens up after 15' into a cave about 25' e-w, the tunnel out on the south wall.
Smon: A rushing stream emerges from a crack in this cave‘s wall. The torrent runs a short distance across the grotto before plunging into an opening in the floor.
Smon: BS - yes, this looks like the same stream you jumped earlier, just further west.
Smon: It sounds as if the water plummets a LONG way down the hole.
JamesDevil: Danor aroaches the opening, picks up a rock, casts light on it and drops it down
Keelia: Bright Star frowns at the waterfall
Smon: The whole cave is wet, and almost lightless (no glowing fungi) but D & BS can see there is enough space west of the hole to get past it ok.
Sandor Sunneson: Lets plod on
Smon: Danor drops the glowing rock...
Keelia: Bright Star leads Sandro carefully around the hole in the ground
JamesDevil: hmm, onwards it is then
JamesDevil: let me know if you want some light Sandro
Sandor Sunneson: wait to see what happens with glowing rock
Smon: *plop*! The rock falls down 100‘ deep shaft that terminates in a half-flooded tunnel, where it hits with a splash.
JamesDevil: yea, lets not fall down that, or get caught in the stream
Sandor Sunneson: lol
Smon: The light glows up from under the water, hard to tell how deep but probably not very.
Smon: Looks as if the stream/tunnel flows roughly north.
Smon: Towards Stonehell.
Sandor Sunneson: where is this bloody tablet
Keelia: Bright Star considers this but continues south
Keelia: There are actually a lot of places we haven't been yet
JamesDevil: yea, tbh i odn't think its going to be this far down
Smon: GM: Taking the S exit, it soon turns SW and you see light ahead. After 60' the tunnel opens out back into the mushroom forest with the blue-glowing puffballs.
Sandor Sunneson: S follows BS
Smon: You see the remains of the flying insects you slew.
JamesDevil: D follows as well
Keelia: (6 paths we haven't taken yet if my map is at all accurate)
JamesDevil: lead on then]
Smon: You have come back into the mushroom forest via the central/NE exit tunnel.
Smon: The E exit from here leads back to the foul statue of Otrogg and a very long tunnel N. The north west exit to a T split, from where N goes bacl to the beetle nursery, SW you don't know.
Keelia: Bright Star frowns.
JamesDevil: Lead us to whichever is the nearest unexplored tunnel BS
JamesDevil: you seem to have the best mind for directions
Sandor Sunneson: lol
Keelia: (I don't expect my map to be correct any longer, but if we head north there was a branch to the West.
Keelia: (east led us to the slime)
JamesDevil: ok, to that branch going west then
Keelia: Alternatively, we can go back towards the queen bug room and take the multicoloured path)
Sandor Sunneson: ok
Keelia: hang on.
Keelia: mushroom forest, not the mushroom water room
Smon: yes
Smon: You have come back into the mushroom forest via the central/NE exit tunnel. Smon: The E exit from here leads back to the foul statue of Otrogg and a very long tunnel N. The north west exit to a T split, from where N goes back to the beetle nursery where you killed the queen, SW you don't know.
Smon: So nearest unexplored area is nw exit then turn left SW.
Keelia: my map is completely wrong now i've drawn too many overlapping rooms
Keelia: Let's go NW and then SW
JamesDevil: ok
Sandor Sunneson: Ask Simon to what's app his map to you
Smon: GM: Ok you go nw then turn left/sw.
Smon: The tunnel turns right, continuing NW/W a fair distance.
Keelia: OK, I think I have the map a bit better. (wish I had a different coloured pen )
Smon: You've gone about 100' or so when you see it turn left/south into a large vaulted cavern, from which emanates an eerie blue glow - not like the fungi glows you've seen.
JamesDevil: now that sounds promising
Sandor Sunneson: oooooooooh
Keelia: Bright Star will peer into the cavern
Smon: A pale blue light emanates from the clear pool of water that stands at the far end of this gloomy cavern. An 8‘ tall version of the vermin-humanoid statues of Otrogg protrudes from the water at the basin‘s center, resting atop a natural pillar beneath the pool‘s surface. The floor of the cavern is littered with large boulders and uneven outcrops of stone. Patches of lavender fungus and blue lichen grow in clusters about the cave.
Smon: BS with her sharp eyes sees sillvery mucus trails on walls and floor.
Sandor Sunneson: No monster in the pool then?
Smon: VERY wide trails - much bigger than you've seen before.
Sandor Sunneson: oh
Keelia: Bright Star points this out
JamesDevil: Danor prepares to sacred flame the first slimy bastard he sees
Smon: /roll d20+10
Smon rolls 1d20+10 and gets: 4, (+10) = 14
Keelia: Bright Star looks up at the ceiling
JamesDevil: ooc beat me to it BS!
Smon: No slime trails on the ceiling, which is rough with dripping stalactites.
Smon: Could a giant slug be hiding in the pool?
Smon: Hmm...
Keelia: She'll peer around the room more closely. (are there any exits from this cave?)
JamesDevil: Danor will approach the ugly statue
Smon: One of those 4' high boulders by the water's edge suddenly unfurls into a gigantic SNAIL!!
JamesDevil: sacredflamesacredflamesacredflamesacredflamesacredflamesacredflame
Keelia: Bright Star blinks.
Sandor Sunneson: oooooooooooooh

Sandor Sunneson: go on then
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d20+5 and gets: 5, (+5) = 10
Smon: #10 BS
JamesDevil: i need to go in a bit anyway, so you can sleep after
Smon:
Keelia: bright star will look for somewhere to hide
Smon: you can hide at cave mouth then pop out yup
Keelia: so she can get sneak
Keelia: excelelnt

Smon: You hit the bale snail's soft neck.
Keelia rolls 4d6+4 and gets: 3, 4, 3, 6, (+4) = 20
Smon: "The creature gets its name from both its aggressive disposition and the naturally occurring pattern on its shell that resembles a stylized Death‘s head similar to that found on some species of moths."
Smon: A nasty wound!
Smon: Danor is surprised...
JamesDevil: Danor looks suprised
JamesDevil:
Keelia: (Bright star ducks back)
Smon: The creature opens its mouth and sprays acid over Danor & Sandro...
Smon: /roll d20+6x2
Smon Rolls 1d20+6x2 and gets:

Smon: GM: Are you wielding your blades?
Sandor Sunneson: 28/51
Smon: Or unarmed?
Smon: The snail rolls onto Danor... Danor roll either Athletics or Acrobatics, whichever better.
Smon: /roll d20+4
Smon rolls 1d20+4 and gets: 7, (+4) = 11
JamesDevil rolls 1d20+2 and gets: 10, (+2) = 12
Smon: Danor rolls away before the giant snail can roll over him!
Smon: Sandro's clothing is burned away and his sword is badly pitted/corroded.
Smon: R2
Smon: #22 Sandro your go
JamesDevil: ooc will the mending cantrip fix that?
Sandor Sunneson: attack again x3
Sandor Sunneson Rolls 1d20+5x3 and gets:
6 (+5) = 11
11 (+5) = 16
4 (+5) = 9
Smon: As you're a forge priest I'll say you could repair his sword, but not much left of his monk robe.
JamesDevil: ugh, nvm, i don't have it :/
Sandor Sunneson rolls 1d6+3 and gets: 5, (+3) = 8
Sandor Sunneson: or less if sword is damaged
JamesDevil: brb
Smon: Sandro punches the ugly brute between its eye stalks (you do d6+3 unarmed, right?)
Sandor Sunneson: yes
Smon: #10 BS

Keelia rolls 4d6+4 and gets: 2, 1, 1, 1, (+4) = 9
Keelia: damn.
Keelia: She ducks back around behind the cave entrance
Keelia rolls 1d20+13 and gets: 14, (+13) = 27
JamesDevil: back
Smon: BS pierces its flesh, but manages to avoid hitting anything important.
Smon: #9 Danor!
Keelia: Pretty soon it's going to look like a hedgehog instead of a snail
JamesDevil: sacred flame on the snail and healing worrd on Sandro
Smon: Very badly wounded, it's not looking too good.
Smon: /roll d20-2
Smon rolls 1d20-2 and gets: 18, (-2) = 16

JamesDevil: 8 hp for you Sandro
Smon: The angry snail tries to bite Sandro.
Smon: /roll d20+6
Smon rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 16, (+6) = 22
Smon: *chomp*
Smon: It has a surprisingly sharp bite...
Sandor Sunneson: thank you
Smon: /roll 2d6+4
Smon rolls 2d6+4 and gets: 2, 6, (+4) = 12
Smon: 12 dmg to Sandro

Keelia: excellent
Keelia rolls 4d6+4 and gets: 5, 4, 2, 5, (+4) = 20
Smon: At last, the mighty snail collapses (had 2 hp)
Sandor Sunneson: lol
JamesDevil: hurray!
JamesDevil: i need to go now, i'm 20 mins over!
Keelia: Bright Star hurries over to Sandro and checks that he still has his Nemuan potion
Smon: Once more you have triumphed, oh mighty Vertebrates!
Keelia: have a good evening james
JamesDevil: night all
Smon: have 800 XP each
JamesDevil: thxs
Keelia:
Sandor Sunneson: thank you, bit of an epic session that
Smon: You might want to do some searching before we quit?
9:51pm 2018-3-17 JamesDevil Has exited the room
Sandor Sunneson: yes
Sandor Sunneson: hint hint ha ha
Keelia: Bright Star starts to poke around, eyeing the other bits of stone in the room warily
Smon: The pool is 10‘ deep. In it are five rocks upon which some enchantment has been cast, producing the blue illumination visible from above. A layer of debris composed of old bones, rusty weapons, and shattered armor litters the pool‘s bottom.
Smon: Looking into the clear well lit water you see among the debris many coins glittering. Also a waxed scroll tube, and the gleaming hilt of an unblemished sword that looks very fine.
Keelia: Bright Star will check around more carefully
Keelia: Does the water look acidic?
Smon: It looks clear & colourless. No acid smell.
Smon: Anyone have nature trained?
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor will risk the water and go in having already been burnt
9:54pm 2018-3-17 Keelia Has exited the room
Smon: The water is cool on Sandor's blistered flesh.
Smon: Sandor can grab the sword & scroll case.
Sandor Sunneson: He'll go and collect the coins left around and sword and scroll
Smon: Getting out of the water, you see the sword is a longsword, engraved in Nerathi common with one word - Froghammer.
9:56pm 2018-3-17 Keelia Has entered the room
Keelia: sorry, internet died - it's really unstable here
Sandor Sunneson: gribbet gribbet
Smon: The waxed scroll case looks pretty waterproof - are you opening it?
Keelia: sorry, internet died.
Smon: Smon: The water is cool on Sandor's blistered flesh. Smon: Sandor can grab the sword & scroll case. Sandor Sunneson: He'll go and collect the coins left around and sword and scroll Smon: Getting out of the water, you see the sword is a longsword, engraved in Nerathi common with one word - Froghammer.
Sandor Sunneson: the sword is a frodgammer
Keelia: thanks
Sandor Sunneson: Sandro will pick up the sword
Smon: It will take a while to collect all the coins.
Keelia: Bright Star will examine the wax case for traps
Keelia: or spells
Smon: Sandro feels a tingle from the blade - certainly enchanted!
Sandor Sunneson: cool,
Smon: BS checks the case, finds no traps. Opening it carefully, inside is an *almost* dry scroll.
Sandor Sunneson: he'll pick up the sword and wave it about
Keelia: Bright Star carefully removes it, trying to avoid getting it any more wet
Smon: Written on the scroll is an incantation of Protection from Undead - useable by anyone, it should be - but there are a few places where the parchment is wet and the ink slightly smudged.
Smon: You'd need an hour to Attune to the blade.
Smon: BS can roll Arcana (INT) DC 15
Keelia: Bright Star tries to dry it
Keelia rolls 1d20 and gets: 10,
Smon: It's too dank & humid here to dry it - maybe back in the village?
Keelia: she has no arcana at all
Sandor Sunneson: lol
Sandor Sunneson: why don;t we collect the coins and head back to village?
Keelia: She'll wrap it up between some cloth and other paper to keep the wet ink from causing more damage.
Smon: GM: Sandro could collect the coins while the others short rest & keep a lookout?
Smon: (ok)
Sandor Sunneson: ok
Smon: GM: OK, an hour later Sandro has collected 500 silver & 375 gold coins, that seems to be all of them.
Smon: Do you head back to exit from here?
Keelia: Bright Star hands him a healing potion (you have your choice of nemean paste 4d4+4, regular extra healing, or a standard healing)
Sandor Sunneson: yes, with sword, he'll offer BS and Dwarfie 1/3 of the coins
Keelia: nemuan (if it will stop autocorrecting!)
Smon: Good plan - you need to get back before nightfall or risk gnoll trouble.
Sandor Sunneson: He'll take the paste
Smon: GM: Retracing your steps, some time later you reach the intersection just before the entry grotto.
Sandor Sunneson rolls 4d4+4 and gets: 1, 2, 2, 4, (+4) = 13
Keelia: Bright Star accepts the coins and squirrels them away.
Smon: To your left is the tunnel to the cave with the milky white pool that BS promised to search but never did.
Keelia: Bright Star mentions she wants to duck down there very quickly
Sandor Sunneson: hmmmmm
Smon: The sound of dripping water is heard echoing from this cave. Within its damp confines are two pools: one is a 2‘ deep pool of green-tinted water; the other is a small basin of opaque blue-white liquid situated under a dripping stalactite of the same color. The water in each is laden with minerals that cause its discoloration, but has no other properties. The green pool contains no danger or treasure. The blue-white pool is 1‘ deep and has a thick layer of mud at its bottom...
Keelia: She trots down the hall and examines the water carefully - checking it's only minerals causing the colour
Keelia rolls 1d20 and gets: 8,
Smon: Yup - & Danor told you they were harmless unless drunk.
Smon: Poking in the blue-white pool, BS locates, under the mud, a mineral-encrusted iron coffer...
Keelia: ah right!
Keelia: she withdraws this and sets it on dry land.
Smon: The coffer lifts up quite easily. It's unlocked.
Smon: Inside the box are seven stone shards that once formed a 4‖ square tablet. It has been intentionally broken and defaced, making it unclear what was inscribed on its surface.
Smon: It definitely looks like it fits the depression in the enchanted door.
Keelia: she frowns but gathers the shards. They obviously make up the key but someone really didn't want it used.
Smon: OOC You return home now?
Sandor Sunneson: yes
Keelia: yes, they need to get the key put back together somehow - probably use a bit of silver to bind the pieces together.
Smon: GM: Vuthrik, looking a bit nervous at the lateness of the hour, helps you out of the hole.
Smon: That night you return to Selatine (have +200 XP)
Keelia: Whoo!
Smon: Sandro is able to attune to the sword, though it's not a Monk weapon.
Sandor Sunneson: merci
Sandor Sunneson: boo, what type is it?
Keelia: Bright Star will ask Dr Rosa if there is any way she knows to determine what was on the tablet
Keelia: And she'll ask Danor to bind the pieces back together with a little molten metal
Keelia: curiosity and cat after all
Smon: Froghammer: This longsword is a +1, +3d6 vs. batrachians weapon. It also has the power to heal its wielder on a successful strike, restoring health equal to the amount of damage inflicted. This power may be used once per Long Rest, and its command phrase Froghammer! must be invoked before the ―to hit‖ roll is made. If the strike misses, the use is lost. Any health drained by the blade that exceeds the wielder‘s normal maximum is lost.
Keelia: nice!
Smon: Rosa inspects the tablet. "I think it may have been a supplicatory ritual, probably related to the burial rites of Otrogg?"
Sandor Sunneson: what is a batrachian?
Smon: Danor should be able to fix the tablet enough to make it useable, given a week.
Smon: Frogs
Smon: inc giant frogs, frog people etc
Sandor Sunneson: lol, ok, so very specific
Smon: You can sell it to a frog-hating merchant for 2500 gp.
Sandor Sunneson: He'll see if anyone wants to buy it at somepoint
Sandor Sunneson: Are there any around?
Keelia: Bright Star considers - burial rites of otrogg. Probably undead and/or bugs.
Smon: (yes over the next couple weeks ahead of next session there will be)
Keelia: But burial may also mean treasure...
Smon: Rosa agrees with Bright Star. "The tales say a powerful High Priest of Otrogg founded the cult, and likely was buried down there after the serpent cult killed him."
Smon: "If you're going back, be careful - high priests of demon cults often don't rest easy!"
Keelia: Bright Star will relay this information to Danor and Sandro when she next sees them (assuming they aren't with her)
Sandor Sunneson: Can you tell James to add 125 gp and 225 sp to his character sheet?
Keelia: "Bright Star will be careful," she nods
Keelia: (I can text him this)
Sandor Sunneson: (thank you)
Smon: GM: You can take the next 2 weeks to sell the sword (yes?) for 2500, rest up and prepare for next expedition.
Sandor Sunneson: (yes)
Keelia: (text sent)
Smon: I'll see if any of the tabletop group fancy buying it, doubt it though.
Sandor Sunneson: (ta)
Smon: if splitting sword cash, 2500/3 = 833 each.
Sandor Sunneson: I was going to keep that, lol
Sandor Sunneson: can do
Sandor Sunneson: had already added it onto his pc sheet, but happy to change lol
Keelia: if you sell it without telling anyone else, it's yours
Sandor Sunneson: Thought you took scroll, I took sword
Keelia: Bright Star has no issues with that - she's not so interested in money as in shiny things. If it was sparkly, she would have been a bit put out.
Keelia: (thanks for reminding me!) Bright Star shows the scroll to Dr Rosa to see if it can be repaired
Smon: Rosa: "Once dried, it should still work... probably."
Smon: She estimates a 20% chance of ward failure.
Smon: If it works, should hedge out undead in a 5' radius from reader.
Smon: Rosa: "Could be handy, vs, oh, I don't know... the undead corpses of former insect cult high priests?" she grins. "Good luck!"
Smon: OOC have you seen the kobold flyer?
Keelia: She folds it away and grins back
Sandor Sunneson: Sandor would like to buy a cloak of elvenkind and some night goggle things from the kobolds
Sandor Sunneson: Sandro even
Keelia: what kobold flyer?
Smon: Kobold Flyer "The Plated Mage of Stonehell offers the following items for commission via the Kobold Market. All items only 1000gp! Cash up front. Please allow 6 days for delivery. Maximum 3 items per week. Please do not ask for credit, as having one's soul consumed by the Elder God Korthiliath of the 18th Hell Dimension often offends. 1. Bag of Holding 2. Boots of Striding and Springing 3. Cloak of Elvenkind 4. Gauntlets of Ogre Power 5. Gloves of Swimming and Climbing 6. Goggles of Night 7. Headband of Intellect 8. Keoghtom’s Ointment 9. Wand of Magic Detection 10.Wand of Magic Missiles 11. Weapon, Rune Weapon"
Keelia: ah, the guy who sells things - you mentioned him on facebook
Smon: Of course BS had better send Sandro to place her order, they don't like the Whiskered Devil much
Smon: GM: During the 2 weeks downtime, Sandro can visit the Kobold Market in Stonehell - he leaves them 2000gp and collects chits for cloak & goggles?
Sandor Sunneson: ja
Keelia: Bright Star is interested in the headband of int but she knows she doesn't have enough money
Smon: OK, 6 days later Sandro returns, the chief kobold, corpulent Trusty Sniv, has his gear (guarded by a couple bugbears BTW).
Smon: "There you go sir!"
Keelia: (or rather, she probably does but her previous character sheet won't be arriving from London until end of April)
Smon: GM: The goods work as advertised - Sandro can attune the goggles for 60' darkvision.
Sandor Sunneson: Thank you , he'll bow as he leaves with the items
Keelia: yay for goggles!
Smon: advtg on stealth for Sandro now
Smon: Does Sandro have anything else attuned?
Sandor Sunneson: cool, so is that an extra +1 on stealth rolls?
Smon: advtg = roll twice, take best roll
Sandor Sunneson: ok, he doesn't have much magic
Smon: does not affect movement, only hiding.
Sandor Sunneson: think that and the cloak of elvenkind are the only items he'll have that need attunement
Smon: ie you still make noise
Smon: ok
Smon: Sandro & Bright Star together should be very sneaky now.
