Hakeem's immediate plan is to slip north by circuitous routes to Anatal. There he will leave the Armour and Sword of Bondorr behind with Aenor whom he trusts. Smon: Hi chris
chris107: Good afternoon, Simon
Smon: OK the little fishing boat sails swiftly east...
chris107: So Father Synjyn and Tamara are coming to the Isle of Dread?
chris107: (Short rest for Hakeem first?)
Smon: Only Tamara, Synjyn is too frail.
Smon: 95 mile trip so takes over a day
chris107: Okay, cool
Smon: You get an overnight rest so 20 hp back as well as SR spending healing dice
chris107: 4 healing dice please.
chris107 rolls 4d12+28 and gets: 2, 2, 2, 12, (+28) = 46
Smon: 7/8/47: Approaching the Isle of Dread next morning your lookout calls out "Ship Ahoy!"
chris107: 324/325HP
Smon: Gimme a DEX+Prof roll Hakeem DC 12
chris107: (Barbarian advantage?)
Smon: no that's for Saves
chris107 rolls 1d20+8 and gets: 7, (+8) = 15
chris107: okay.
Smon: Hakeem comes on deck in time to see the great dark bulk lift off from the distant ship, flying north-east towards the island.
chris107: Shieldbiter?
Smon: It looks the size of a wyvern - a Royal Wyvern... As your little boat draws nearer over long minutes, Hakeem can make out the familiar lines of the ship, Sarene's flagship Lady Spite.
Smon: Tamara: "Well she got here fast...."
chris107: "The Jackles are gathering."
Smon: Your ship captain, a grizzled veteran, looks nervously to Hakeem. "They must have heard, be after the dragon's treasure. She likely has over a hundred reavers on that ship..."
Smon: Roll Perception WIS+Prof
Smon: /roll d8
Smon rolls 1d8 and gets: 3,
chris107 rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 17, (+6) = 23
Smon: DC 15
Smon: Through the spray of breakers, Hakeem sees the Royal Wyvern fly into a massive sea cave in cliffs on the south side of the island.
Smon: On the rugged heights above are the tumbled remnants of what was once a vast Ghinoran temple complex, now ruined and overgrown with vines.
chris107: "Thievery to dd to the list of charges."
Smon: The Lady Spite appears to have set anchor, a safe distance offshore.
chris107: "Can you take me in, Captain?"
Smon: The old sailor looks nervous. "Not into that cave - there are rocks, there, just beneath the surface..."
Smon: "You could likely get in with a ship's boat. Or that old temple likely has a harbour, somewhere round the island, where we might set ashore."
Smon: roll WIS+prof
chris107 rolls 1d20+6 and gets: 9, (+6) = 15
Smon: exactly pass
chris107:
Smon: Hakeem can tell the old geezer isn't keen on getting any closer to the Lady Spite.
Smon: The lookout calls down: "Capn, looks like there might be a landin' spot further east, round that outcrop!"
chris107: Lower me the ships boat with plenty of food and water then get back to Seletine if you can. Tell Lady Vex what has happened.
Smon: Tamara: "Your Majesty! We can't leave you here!"
chris107: "Or drop me there. But you must get back to land and safety."
Smon: GM: It looks like the quickest approach would definitely be to row the ship's boat in.
chris107: "Make sure news of this get's back to Janna Vex and eventually to Nerra. "
Smon: Captain: "You reckon those pirates will give you a lift home, Majesty?"
chris107: Hakeem will row the provisioned ships boat in.
chris107: "I think I will die here but word of their treachery must not go untold."
Smon: They somewhat reluctantly lower the tiny ship's boat, with packs of iron rations and Hakeem begins to row for the cave, into the heavy swell and crashing waves around the bitter rocks of Matriarx's lair...
Smon: roll Athletics DC 18... oh yeah you auto pass.
chris107:
chris107: (I really didn't rate that as a level 18 ability at first. How wrong was I?)
Smon: Pulling manfully, Hakeem oars the wave-tossed little boat into the cave - just as the massive Royal Wyvern flies out, yards above his head.
chris107: Can I jump onto it?
Smon: Surely they can't have time to seize all the treasure? Looking up, Hakeem sees what must be Sarene & Shieldbiter...
Smon: ok about 20' up, you are sitting at oars in rocking boat... I'm not seeing it.
chris107: They don't deserve one piece of the treasure, the thieving, cowerdly scum!
Smon: If you were already standing, maybe.
chris107: That treasure belongs to the victims!
chris107: Okay so I've been set up right royaly.
Smon: The wyvern flies out, making for the Lady Spite.
chris107: Hakeem is fuming. He was going to ask Shieldbiter to go before the council to explain his actions.
chris107: Now he has sealed his doom.
Smon: What are you doing
chris107: "I WILL KILL YOU AND THAT BITCH! YOU COWARDLY, THIEVING SCUM!"
Smon: roll CHA+Prof DC 22
chris107 rolls 1d20+8 and gets: 10, (+8) = 18
chris107: "GRRRRRRRRR!"
Smon: The Wyvern wheels around, returning in your direction, piloted by SB.
Smon: He puts a gauntlete hand to his ear.
chris107: "FIGHT LIKE A MAN!"
chris107: "YOU ARE WITHOUT HONOUR! A COWARD AND A SNEAKTHIEF!"
Smon: SB: "No. Your ship just left you! We're the only ones here! If you kill us all you'll die of hunger here!"
Smon: "I wasn't very sneaky!"
chris107: "I WOULD RATHER DIE THAN SINK AS LOW AS YOU!"
Smon: "I have a few magic items and a bit of gems... there's still hundreds of thousands of gold and thousands in gems there!"
chris107: "THE WORLD IS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR YOU TO HIDE!"
Smon: "The magic items I took, you can't use them! You already have better stuff!"
chris107: "I DON'T GIVE A TOSS ABOUTTHE TREASURE!"
Smon: Sarene whispers in SB's ear.
chris107: "YOU DESERVE AND HAVE EARNED NOTHING!"
chris107: "I WILL DESTROY EVERYONE OF YOUR PEOPLE IF IT TAKES ME A HUNDRED YEARS! EVERY ONE!"
Smon: Sarene smiles and waves at Hakeem. "Goodbye Hakeem! Enjoy your vacation!"
chris107: "YOU BROUGHT DEATH UPON YOUR OWN PEOPLE, HID LIKE A SCARRED GIRL!"
Smon: SB: "Hope you turn into a dragon on that pile of treasure!"
chris107: Hakeem goes on in such a vein for some time before paddling hislittle boat ashore.
Smon: SB: "A hundred years? You're not going to survive that long!"
chris107: He waits for a sendingfrom Blue or Thuruar
Smon: The wyvern wheels away and flies over to the distant pirate galleon.
chris107: or the vein hope his brave little craft will make it back.
Smon: GM: OK, the Lady Spite departs.
chris107: Hakeem is raging.
Smon: Hakeem pulls his little boat into shore, amongst towering cyclopean stone pillars.
Smon: The acrid stench of Matriarx is still everywhere.
Smon: Beyond the shore and the pillars, a vast inner cave, Matriarx's lair, dotted with deep limestone sea-wells
Smon: Here and there are mounded vast piles of coins, silver and gold jewelry, scattered shining gems.
Smon: Still it seems somewhat picked-over.
chris107: Hakeem cares nothing for riches (Until level 18 he only ever had 10GP on his charachter sheet)
Smon: GM: You would have had a Sending yesterday from Ernsorn, likely a few days till he gets worried you're not back and Sends again (1 week LR)
chris107: He looks for a way to fashion a mast for his little boat, his new cloak will make a fine sail.
Smon: 5 in 6 some driftwood not acid-rotted yet
Smon: /roll d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Smon: You're in luck, a good sturdy brace of the right size, though attaching it to the rowboat without making a hole in the hull is another thing...
Smon: Hakeem not exactly a skilled carpenter.
Smon: (he ignores the treasure?)
chris107: He has water and rations, this set up may finish him off but he has steely resolve. If the worst comes to the worst he will stab hiself through the heart and let the gem take him to Bisgen. The Empire can go to Hell. Hakeem will have his revenge and it will be terrible!
Smon: Searching around in the vast sea cave, lit by the crackling sword of Bondorr, Hakeem eventually finds a narrow passage with stairs leading up to the open heights above.
chris107: Hakeem has interet only in vengeance now.
chris107: He will search in the hope of finding things that will 1) Aid his escape 2) Aid in his terrible vengeance.
chris107: Blood will flow for a hundred years and it will not be enough
Smon: GM: Up above, the vine-wrapped sandstone ruins of the fallen temple.
Smon: Two huge sandalled stone feet still stand amongst the wreckage, blocks of stone from what was once an enormous statute of a mighty bearded god flinging thunderbolts.
Smon: There are grasses, a few small scraggly trees, little more than bushes.
Smon: Even up here there is still the acrid Matriarx stench.
Smon: /roll d4
Smon rolls 1d4 and gets: 2,
chris107: Hakeem looks to gather fire wood and perhaps branches to make a shelter.
Smon: 2 days later, Hakeem finds a degree of shelter amidst the ancient ruins. The nights are warm enough. 2 days later he is still working on ways to brace the mast, and putting finisihing touches to a ragged canopy...
Smon: when he receives a Send from Ernsorn: "Does all go well?"
chris107: Hakeenm calmly tells him of the battle, the treachery and his plans to destroy the Dragon Dominion and the entire family line of Shieldbiter.
chris107: 25 words?
chris107: "On Isle of Dread, send fleet, don't trust Sarene or Shieldbiter. Scum! I shall have revenge on them all!"
Smon: (ok) Ernsorn Resends after a few minutes: "Lord Bronze has a Haran ship here at Nera. He'll come pick you up, he says."
Smon: OOC you don't really have a fleet, Sarene was your fleet...
chris107: Beware Pirates, Wyvern and Shieldbiter!"
chris107: OOC I won't make this mistake again.
chris107: The name Delmirev will be expunged from history.
chris107: Hakeem will now search the treasure for stuff that may help him.
chris107: It will be for others to to hold the world together now.
chris107: "LET THE WORLD TREMBLE AT HAKEEM'S ANGER!"
5:38pm 2018-2-06 genghisdon Has entered the room
genghisdon: EARLY START?
chris107: Hi Don

genghisdon: HI GUYS

5:42pm 2018-2-06 genghisdon Has exited the room
Smon: 180,000 gp in gold, silver & gold/silver jewelry
Smon: 277,000gp total.
Smon: No magic items, unsurprisingly
Smon: /roll d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 10,
Smon: just made his navigation check
chris107: Hakeem will leave it all. As promised it will all go to the survivors and to rebuild Trade.
chris107: Hakeem has only one mission now. Vengeance.
Smon: The following afternoon Hakeem is atop his island when he sees a Nerathi schooner approaching from the west, the bronze hand of Hara on the sails.
Smon: Do you want to row out to them?
chris107: Once they see me, yes. He will inform them what has happened and suggest they load up with treasure to distribute to the needy.
Smon: GM: Hakeem rows out and leaps aboard; Rasgar Skarrison scoops up the rowboat with a boat hook.
Smon: Lord Bronze: "Congratulations on your great victory, your Majesty. All are celebrating the death of Matriarx."
Smon: The ship docks at an ancient crumbled quayside east of the sea cave.
chris107: "The victory means nothing."
chris107: "Those we trusted have prooved perfidious. They will die."
Smon: Bronze's men head up to find the steps down to the dragon lair.
chris107: "You and Minars will be joint regents. Look after Malenn and the boy as if they were your own."
Smon: Lord Bronze listens grimly, Rasgar appears to be stifling a slight smirk. Anna Bronze emerges from her cabin - looking seasick - and joins you on the quay.
Smon: Namelin strokes his short beard thoughtfully.
chris107: "This treasure is for the people."
Smon: "Your Majesty - Hakeem - may I speak freely?"
chris107: "You may."
chris107: "I am no longer your Majesty. I am Hakeem, The Avenger."
Smon: Bronze takes a breath. "Hakeem then. We all respect you, your leadership, what you have done for us. I took a great risk, to betray the Black Sun and pledge Hara to your cause... a decision I have never regretted."
Smon: "Minars is... he is a good warrior. And raider. But there is much bad blood between us.. between our peoples. We have fought the Black Sun together; won the peace, together. But without you... I do not think it can hold."
Smon: "If we are to be co-regents... What happens when we disagree?"
chris107: "Then it will fall into ruin. I care not. Betrayed by one I had called brother. I will not rest until he and all his family and works are as dust."
chris107: "Women shall weep in ten thousand years when they talk of my vengeance."
Smon: Anna Bronze looks incredulously at Hakeem. "You would throw it all away?! The empire we have built?! What of your son?!"
Smon: Namelin raises his hand to silence his half-sister.
chris107: "My son will grow into a fine man without an empire. I am done with so called civilisation."
chris107: "Three years ago I walked out of the Midnight Goddess hills with just my fathers sword. By my will has your empire come from the ruins of the Black Sun. You would all be but walking meat now, but for me."
Smon: Anna: "No!"
Smon: She looks furious, quivering with rage,
chris107: "Now I have broken the Black Sun, Slain their War God and Killed Ancient Matriarx for you."
Smon: "YOUR people would be walking meat! WE would be citizens of Neo-Nerath!"
chris107: "The rest should be easy."
chris107: "Ha! And you think you would have fared better. You did not ee the 'citizens' at Bisgen."
Smon: Namelin takes a step away from the angry Anna, as if Hakeem might strike her down.
chris107: "The treasure is yours, do with it as you will. Now get me back to land. I have an enemy to kill."
Smon: Anna: "You don't understand... maybe you are just a barbarian, after all. Was I wrong to persuade you to take the throne? You have to stay with us!"
Smon: Namelin: "Silence, woman!"
chris107: "Aye, I am a Barbarian. And an honest one."
Smon: Namelin nods to Hakeem. "I'll take you to the port of your choice. I'll tell Minars your decision, Hakeem."
chris107: "I have given all, taken little. And now stand betrayed."
Smon: Anna: "You chose a pirate to command your fleets! A dragon to guard your wealth!"
chris107: "Thank you. Your Majesty. Selatine would be a good place. It's where it all started after all."
Smon: Bronze motions to Rasgar, who puts a huge hand over Anna's mouth, silencing her.
Smon: "Selatine it is - a good port."
chris107: "God luck doing better, Anna. I admire your spirit. By Bondorr! If you were forty years younger! What a team we would have made!" He grins and laughs!
Smon: Namelin chuckles, seeing the first treasure-bearers descending to the quay.
Smon: OOC Anna is in the 20-something young half sister of Lord Namelin Bronze
chris107: (Oh I was thinking of the older one, Judy Dench?)
Smon: You rescued her from K'tulu cultists at Clear Meadows AIR
Smon: That's his mum, Llanet
Smon: her mum too
chris107: Ah yes! It's all a long time ago
Smon: Given she's a glamorous blonde too - though no warrior - perhaps instead of >>If you were forty years younger! << "if I were unmarried"?
chris107: Well that's it for the empire I guess. It can sink or swim with fate. Hakeem went from Barbarian to King. Time for a new chapter
Smon:
Smon: And Hakeem walks up the gangplank and into the pages of history...
chris107: He will grab a handfull of jewels and gold before setting off down the gang plank into Selatine and a new life.
Smon: OOC You're a fair bit ahead in the timeline tight now, so will pick up again later.
chris107: any XP to come?
chris107: He's almost at 50,000 and the +2 stat
Smon: (yeah, take 5000 XP) In Selatine, news from the north is that Sarene's entire fleet has abandoned Ahyf, along with all SB's lizardmen & dragonborn, and his wife and dragonlings.
Smon: Clearly they are heading elsewhere - and they definitely did not say where.
chris107: Hakeem really is going to hunt down every one of them.
chris107:
Smon: Should be a good ruck.
Smon: Watch out for those heavy ballistae!
chris107: It should. The differece is Hakeem really does not mind dying
Smon: SB definitely does!
chris107: The Delmirev Hold has plenty I hope. That's been burned first!
Smon: You can go there yup, will do another Hakeem session maybe Monday after next
chris107: Cheers Simon! I got well suckered there!
Smon:
Smon: HOw?
chris107: Yeah, Hakeem is free to build another legend
Smon: Bill wants to know
chris107: Monday's are usually great for me as Kyle works
Smon: I can do alternate Mondays nicely if I end swim by 6.30 (pool closed 6.30-8.30) so 7pm start looks best
